The Intermittent sticky steering wheel is back once again! So what was the whole-point of getting it fixed the first time under the recall when it’s going to happen again later on along the line. Now the car is approaching 50k and back to the dealer we go to see if they can replicate the problem to get it fix under the warranty. If not just going to have to wait and see if other integras is having the same issues.

Mar 12, 2025 Crash

In December 2024, I brought my 2023 Acura Integra to the local Acura dealership to address a recall related to a steering gear manufacturing defect, as well as to perform an oil change. The service department at Acura efficiently completed the work on my vehicle in one hour. On December 24, 2024, while operating the vehicle, the dashboard lights illuminated, and the steering wheel abruptly veered to the left, leading to a collision with large stationary rocks (boulders) alongside the road. The vehicle was required to be towed to a collision repair facility. The insurance claim has been submitted, and a police report has been filed. The collision shop performed a thorough inspection of the damage, and their analysis indicated that the cause of the accident is related to the steering system. The Acura Dealership has been informed of this information, and a claim has been submitted to Honda/Acura Manufacturer. No one from Acura has yet to send some one to inspect or investigate this matter.

Oct 11, 2024 Crash

The contact owns a 2023 Acura Integra. The contact stated that while driving on a ramp at approximately 30-35 MPH, while turning to the right, the steering wheel continued turning a complete 360 degrees, causing the contact to lose control of the vehicle and crash into a nearby wall. The air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the cause of the failure was not determined. The vehicle received structural body repairs and the worm gear spring was replaced. The contact learned that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V744000 (Steering) after the repair. The contact mentioned that the vehicle prior to the crash experienced a sticky steering wheel. There were no injuries sustained and no medical attention was needed. A Police report was filed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 16,700.

Oct 4, 2024

Driving straight and want to turn slightly but the steering wheel HEAVILY resists which produces a sticky steering feeling at highway speeds. This is a steering rack defect which is commonly experienced among 2023+ Integra owners.

Sep 24, 2024

The contact owns a 2023 Acura Integra. The contact stated while driving at 55 MPH, the steering wheel seized, and the brake pedal was depressed to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was turned off and restarted and the steering failure message was displayed; however, the power steering functionality had not returned. The vehicle was driven to a local dealer to be diagnosed. The dealer had confirmed that the steering wheel had seized. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recall on the VIN for the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 53,000.

I recently purchased a this vehicle approximately two weeks ago and have since noticed a recurring problem with the steering. Specifically, the steering feels like it "sticks" when driving on a straightaway, making it difficult to maintain a smooth, consistent path. Initially, I thought the steering was simply stiffer compared to my previous vehicle, but after driving it for a couple of weeks, it has become clear that this is an ongoing issue. The steering tends to become jerky when I try to make small corrections to keep the car centered in its lane, which compromises the smoothness and control of the vehicle.

Aug 4, 2024

at highway speeds steering sticks making it so i have to put temporarily more force into it.

Jun 3, 2024

The steering wheel seems to stick while trying to make adjustments and when it unsticks it jerks the car around. At first it was only at higher speeds and wasn’t as bad, but after a while it’s happening at low speeds. It sticks during curves which makes it really dangerous. There is an audible clumping sound now whenever making slight adjustments and turns. The sound is also heard when turning the steering wheel at a complete stop. It’s been happening since November. I avoid freeways now because of how dangerous it can be. The adapted lane keep assist also struggles with steering the car because of this.

May 21, 2024

The steering wheel “sticks” so that extra force is needed even to make tiny adjustments. This causes the car to over correct and is dangerous to drive. I will no longer let my teenage children drive the car.

May 16, 2024

When driving the vehicle over 40 mph's the car will not allow for you to readjust the lane alignment without having to jerk on the wheel. When making a turn on an exit ramp the wheel will "stick" into place instead of naturally moving with the turn. This causes you to jerk your wheel in turns and potentially lose control of the car.

May 6, 2024

The steering wheel gets stuck when driving Dealership stated that’s under investigation but this is a safety issued that can cause a accident and death

May 4, 2024

Electronic steering appears to cut on and off briefly when driving. This happened multiple times in a five mile trip. It sounds like this is the "sticky stearing" issue already under investigation for Honda/Acura.

Apr 30, 2024

Sticky Steering wheel. Difficult to adjust steering. Small adjustments causing large swaying in lane.

Apr 28, 2024

The steering wheel sticks at times so I cannot steer the car safely. I brought the car to the dealer and they said it is fine and there is nothing wrong with it. I have read on line many other people with the same problem. They had their steering components replaced and it fixed the problem. The problem is still occurring daily.

Apr 24, 2024

The steering wheel occasionally "sticks" when trying to turn the wheel at medium speeds. It still turns but it is harder to turn and not smooth. From what I can tell, this issue is similar to the steering issues present in Honda Civics, which share the same drivetrain.

Apr 20, 2024

At 10k miles, my '23 Acura Integra, made a strange noise, coming from the rear passenger tire. sounded like a few rocks went around the wheel. There were no rocks in the road, so I parked & checked my tire sensor on the dash & the rear passenger tire sensor read as "--" instead of the pressure number. I got out, took a look, there was nothing visibly wrong. after leaving work, I checked the tire again, nothing visibly wrong. I left the parking lot, drove maybe 2mins down the road & the tire sensor number came back on & read "35" this time. so I thought nothing of it. a few days later, I noticed the steering wheel felt different. again, not visually but physically. The steering wheel sticks requiring an abnormal amount of effort to steer the vehicle in the desired direction. It started out noticeably on highways or freeways at accelerated speeds but now that I'm at 17k, it is noticeable at any speed on any road, especially if I'm driving straight for a long period of time, moving the steering wheel ever so slightly requires way too much force which can cause over correction while trying to maintain my lane. It is also very noticeable when driving on a curve & trying to steer the wheel back to the center. It feels like it gets stuck in "notches" that you have to force into the direction you need it to go. It makes driving incredibly a daunting task & also feels extremely unsafe to drive. I feel like I'm forced to drive with two hands at all times & really grip the wheel which leads to my hands & wrists becoming strained. That's not normal at all! I literally think about the "sticky steering" the whole entire time I'm driving. It's not fun & I love driving. When I drive my husband's '23 Kia Stinger, I don't even think about this issue. I hadn't noticed that I didn't think about it until I drove his car for an extended time & then got back in my Integra the same day. There needs to be a recall before someone dies!

Apr 17, 2024

This vehicle was sold 4.10 with an issue commonly referred to as sticky steering. A bulletin went out July 2023 (23-037) directing dealers to replace the electronic power steering gearbox with a new one. Sticky steering occurs at most speeds. The steering has what I can best describe as pixelated movements rather than smooth. When you are trying to maintain control while driving straight or turn the wheel slightly it seems to jump to the next notch instead of slide smoothly. This often results in slight overcorrection and is very scary at higher speeds or in thicker traffic. You have to fight the steering wheel to maintain control. This condition is extremely dangerous and causes the car to pull to either side with diminished control of the steering.

Apr 13, 2024

While taking the vehicle on long drives and driving on a straightaway for a few miles possibly 3-4. The steering becomes very heavy to the sense it’s becoming stuck and electric power steering motor is failing.

Apr 11, 2024

FROM DAY ONE ON THIS $43,000 NEW CAR THE STEERING STICKS SO WHEN ON THE ROAD THE STEERING STICKS AND I GET CLOSE TO RUNNING INTO OTHER CARS OR GOING OFF THE ROAD THIS IS CONTINUOUS DURING THE ENTIRE TIME DRIVING. THIS PROBLEM DOES NOT HAPPEN TILL I HAVE DRIVEN FOR A FEW MILES AND DOES NOT SHOW UP ON A TRIP AROUND THE BLOCK BUT DOES SHOW UP SOON AFTER. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP 6 MONTHS AGO AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE PUT IN FOR A NEW PART REPLACEMENT BUT DO NOT KNOW WHEN IT WILL ARRIVE. THIS CAR IS VERY DANGEROUS ON THE ROAD AND BRINGS GREAT ANXIETY WHEN DRIVING IT AND I CAN NOT DRIVE IT MORE THAN A FEW MILES. THIS CAR IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AND WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT ON THE ROAD. THIS IS AN ONGOING AND CONTINUOUS PROBLEM.

Apr 9, 2024

The steering wheel will stick in place when driving at highway speeds after 15 minutes of driving. It will take greater force than usual to move the steering wheel to correct course.

Apr 7, 2024

We brought my son's car in earlier in the year for an issue it was having with its steering ( the steering sticks/locks when attempting to turn the steering wheel left ). The dealer acknowledged the issue and stated that the steering box needs to be replaced. The dealer sent us home with the car saying it was 'safe to drive' and they would call us when part was received. We insisted, however, for the dealer to provide a loaner since we felt any acknowledged issue with the steering is not safe. We have recently been informed from the dealer that the part needed to address the problem is on backorder with no anticipated delivery date and that the next available update will be in August. (BTW - We also have the same problem with the stereo amp, which is on backorder with no anticipated delivery date). I have a couple major problems with this 1) my son's brand new car is sitting in the FL sun/heat getting damaged waiting for an indefinite period of time; 2) my son cannot drive the loaner, 3) and we are being asked to wait several months for an update on part availability for a new car. These are all completely unreasonable situations. I see 1 of 2 options: Honda/Acura - Needs to work with the dealer to figure out how to give my son (17) a car to drive while they wait on replacement parts. I also want permission to bring my son's car home and have it garaged until part is received and repair is scheduled. OR Honda/Acura - Needs to give us a new car (and take back my son's car back) as part of lemon law. It is completely unreasonable for a new car to have such major safety issues and furthermore have the manufacturer and dealer say we have to wait months for an update on part availability. We also have a loaner that my son cannot drive. I would like a response to this situation ASAP before I seek legal action.

Apr 4, 2024

The steering will get tight at speeds above 40 mph. The steering tightens up and almost feels like it's a ratchet/gear that catches constantly, it is not a smooth turn how it should be. It is manageable at lower speeds, however on the highway it is very worrisome. The steering is even tighter at highway speeds and gets stuck in position and is hard to turn correctly. I often find myself over correcting trying to get the wheel unstuck from its position, causing me to swerve on the road.

Apr 2, 2024

I dont feel safe at all when turning because it feels like the steering wheel is sticking and doesn’t move. Very unsafe feeling.

Mar 29, 2024

My car, with less than 18,000 miles on it has begun to have steering which sticks as the car is driven straight. In order to make a correction to the right of left it is necessary to jerk the wheel in that direction to unstick the steering. This is more than an annoyance as it has caused me to veer slightly out of my lane unless I am very careful. I have parked it and am driving my daughter's old car until this can be resolved. It appears from my internet search that this is happening to a lot of Acura Integra owners. The approximate date I am using for the next question is incorrect as this was an ongoing issue every time I drove the car. The dealership here has been excellent and has done all that they can. I have contacted Acura to see when I can expect repair but have received no response.

Mar 29, 2024

The steering sticks when the vehicle has been traveling straight for a period of time (time varies, as does speed). The stuck steering requires additional force on the wheel to steer the vehicle, which results in an over correction. It's getting worse and occurring at all speeds, started at only highway speeds. No warning lights, etc. Problem was confirmed by the dealer 3/29/2024. I was told by the dealer that Acura is no longer authorizing replacement of the steering rack under warranty. They can offer no warranty solution at this time.

Mar 27, 2024

Since I purchased the Integra over a year ago, I’ve routinely experienced a sticky/jerky steering issue. When driving, the steering wheel will jerk to the left or right continuously and feel stuck in position and difficult to correct. Not only do I have to consistently “fight” the steering wheel to keep the car aligned, I have had the vehicle veer into another lane and swerve towards cars in the neighboring lane due to the jerking motion. Overall, this creates a difficult driving experience - my focus is consumed by the steering, I feel I have limited control of the vehicle, and an overwhelming sense of being uneasy/unsafe when the issue is prevalent. Passengers feel it too. This is most notable when highway driving or going above ~45/50 mph and, oddly, seems to be more prominent in certain weather, particularly during warm, but not hot, days (60-80 degrees). No warning signs or vehicle setting notices display. Issue persists regardless of altering vehicle modes and settings. I have reported this to the Acura dealership twice. The first was early on and I had no reference of others with this experience. The second time, I expressed there are numerous reports of this online. They noted it, stated everything appeared normal, and that they drove the vehicle and couldn’t recreate it, but my Acura app trip history did not reflect this. The concern was dismissed. This is my 3rd Acura sedan - I’ve had an incredible experience with Acura, my dealership, and previous vehicles. I commonly recommend them to friends/family. That said, it takes a lot for me to feel strongly enough to report an issue/negative review, but this driving experience is simply unacceptable and potentially dangerous.

Mar 27, 2024

While driving down [XXX] , the steering felt stiff and almost like it stuck into a certain position. It required far more force than normal to move the steering wheel from its position which almost caused me to change lanes to the right without wanting to. This is not the first time this has happened, but it was a particularly dangerous instance since the steering wheel stuck several degrees to the left of center which would have directed to into the center divide. I took the car to the dealership in March 2024 to discuss the issue and they acknowledged that two other integras had come into the dealership for a similar problem. Not having absolute control of the vehicle is extremely dangerous and the steering sticking into a certain position without Lane Keep Assist influencing the steering is a design flaw and puts drivers at risk. Mar 26, 2024

The steering becomes “sticky” and is resistant to turning both at low and high speeds. This results in situations where significant force must be applied to the wheel to create a direction change. It has resulted in sudden movements after “breaking” the steering wheel free from its “stuck” position in the middle. It even affects driver assist systems, which will also demonstrate difficulty managing a steering wheel that gets “stuck” in the middle. The cold and wet seems to make it worse. However this has been an ongoing problem for the last several thousand miles and is definitely getting worse as the miles go by. I have taken the car to the dealership and was informed this is a known issue with no available repair. Seems to be a substantial safety concern that should warrant a repair.

Mar 25, 2024

When driving on the highway, the steering wheel gets "sticky". The steering wheel feels like it gets stuck and I have to constantly make slight adjustments against a slightly resisting steering wheel. It makes me feel like I am forced to constantly move the steering left just to stay in my lane even when I'm going in a straight line on the highway.

Mar 19, 2024

Steering intermittently feels sticky when turning, requiring extra effort to rotate the wheel. When it occurs steering safely may be harder to accomplish, as it requires more of the driver's attention to correct unintentional movements. Issue is more pronounced when driving at slow speeds/parking and has gotten worse as the car ages. The car has not yet been inspected and the issue has not yet been attempted to be replicated by any service center, though a service is scheduled. There have been no warning lights or messages in the car that warn of this issue since it started about 6 months ago.

Mar 18, 2024

Car has about 8,000 miles; noticed "sticky steering" over last 1,000 miles. At highway speed, steering requires more effort even for changing lanes, then it releases while driving straight. Very disturbing to driver; tempted to oversteer. Problem has been reported by other owners on [XXX] No warning lamps. Next step is to bring to dealer INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Mar 10, 2024

The vehicle's steering has a "sticky" sensation requiring increased input to allow the vehicle to turn. This makes the vehicle difficult to maintain in a straight line and also results in dangerous steering overcorrection when the steering wheel finally does begin to turn. This creates a dangerous driving environment to myself and other drivers as this issue makes the vehicle difficult to control. The issue started two months ago (January 2024) when the car had approximately 9,000 miles on the odometer. The issue began as intermittent, but is now continuous in all driving conditions. There are no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms. This issue has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police or insurance. My vehicle's problem has not yet been reported to the manufacturer, although there are several complaints available online from those experiencing the same problem with this vehicle. There is currently no recall to correct this issue, allegedly created by a manufacturing defect in the steering box.

Mar 9, 2024

Steering constantly sticks and is hesitant and making turns at times. A real struggle.

Mar 9, 2024

When exceeding 30-35 mph regardless of driving conditions, the steering wheel will not rotate smoothly. Steering is notchy or sticks requiring extra effort to turn the steering wheel to make even the slightest correction. I purchased the car with 9,275 miles on it and the problem manifested itself from the start of ownership. Deactivating the LKAS has no effect on the problem. - Steering/vehicle is available for inspection -I've been able to overcome the steering resistance but there is potential for an accident to occur -I have not had the problem confirmed by a dealer but will do so at the next service appt. -At the time of purchase, the vehicle did pass State inspection and dealer inspection, but no issues were reported -There are no alerts or warning lights associated with this issue.

Mar 8, 2024

When approximately 50+ mph, steering corrections when going straight are met with momentary increased steering effort which require me to force the steering wheel to turn before it reacts normal. It is not intermittent, but occurs each time. The effort required also seems to increase the longer the car is being driven during any given trip.

Mar 6, 2024

“Sticky steering” wheel. When executing a turn the wheel will stick in a position and not return to center unless force is used to “unstick” the steering. This happens regardless of drive mode settings and driver assist settings. Much more pronounced at highway speeds and I am concerned as to the overall safety of the car, especially if I have to make a defensive maneuver at highway speeds. I took the car into my local dealer and while they confirmed my suspicions, they said that Honda/Acura did not have a fix. No warning lights have come on in the vehicle. I have read that similar complaints were filed on certain 2022 and up Honda civic models.

Mar 6, 2024

After driving at highway speeds (55-65 mph) in a straight line for a period of 15 minutes, the steering wheel becomes completely stiff and difficult to turn to make small corrections to stay within my lane. This typically happens on cooler mornings after the car has had a chance to warm up and no significant curves exist in the road or turns are required. I am able to overcome the resistance from the steering wheel to maintain my lane with two hands but have come close to over-correcting while driving with one hand (the other was on the shifter) and almost went into the occupied lane next to me. The effort to overcome the resistance from the steering is fairly consistent. No warning lights have appeared when I started having this issue with the steering. The problem appeared when I reached 2500 miles on the odometer. I have not had the vehicle examined by the Acura dealership but plan to very soon. No other official in law enforcement or insurance has looked at the vehicle either

Mar 5, 2024

TThe problem occurs while driving at freeway speeds. When adjusting the wheel slightly to the right, from off center, the wheel sticks a bit. It's as if it's stuck in a notch. This first occurred when the car was a little over a year old with around 8000 miles on it. We took the car to CardinaleWay Acura in Las Vegas on [XXX]. They confirmed that it is a known issue. They told us that Acura did not have a solution at this time, and they would notify us when they do. We have yet to hear back. This was concerning to us, as we read about accidents associated with this defect. We also read about instances where Acura did provide a Steering Rack replacement as a solution. We do not know why this option was not provided to us. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Mar 3, 2024

There is a squeaky sound from where the seatbelt anchors to the car in the driver’s seat. It mainly sounds like the right side, however, it can be heard when leaning to the left(away from the shift nob). You have to have the seatbelt on while driving, to hear the sound. I’ve taken the vehicle 4 times and thought it was the seat, however, I still hear the sound and only hear it while driving with the seatbelt on. The steering wheel is also starting to slightly stick. I have to apply force to turn and nothing will happen, then it will move in cm increments, not smoothly as it did prior to 10,000 miles.

Feb 28, 2024

The issue I experienced is with the steering. Intermittently, the steering will 'freeze' or stick and requires MUCH more force to turn than normal. It is mostly evident when going in a straight line and trying to make slight steering input. The additional force to 'unstick' the steering often causes too much steering input, resulting in over-correction. This issue makes it very difficult to stay centered in a lane, and sometimes the over-correction results in going into another lane. The dealer acknowledged there was an issue but stated no corrective action could be taken until Acura sent a TSB or recall. This is unacceptable as it is often a safety risk. The inconsistency of the issue also is a safety impact as certain times the steering seems normal while others require at least 3-4 times the effort to make even a small adjustment. First occurrence is listed below but issue has occurred on almost every drive since that date.

Feb 26, 2024

Steering wheel sticks at highway speed and takes some force to move it.

Feb 24, 2024

The electric power steering sticks when driving and does not self return. It sticks in one position. It seems to be worse on highways or at higher speeds, it will stick at a given angle or position. This is something that can be inspected upon request. Our safety is put at risk due to increased steering effort required which can cause perking motion from the position it's sticking in. It also is an ergonomic issue with having to constantly correct the stiffness. The dealership is aware of the issue but it has not been addressed or inspected for the issue. It is easily reproducible for it to be addressed. There are no warning lights for this issue.

Feb 23, 2024

I have been having this issue for over 6 months where the steering wheel get slightly stuck and I have to make an effort to correct the wheel. It is a constant need to correct the steering left and right. It becomes very tedious to drive and I am worried the steering is getting worse.

Feb 21, 2024

On 1/19/24 I took my 2023 Acura Integra in for an oil change at an Acura dealership. I notified the service desk staff member that for the past couple months I have been experiencing a sticky/notchy steering issue. I also mentioned that this issue has been reported frequently online with the other 2023 integras and other Hondas around the same year. Fortunately, I was able to accompany the service manager while he performed a quick test drive and he confirmed the issue at speeds of approximately 30mph. That day the dealership contacted Acura and determined that my steered rack needed to be replaced, however they would need to order a new steering rack. After over a month of waiting for the new part, there is no ETA when the dealership will receive the new steering rack. The dealership found that there were no logged errors. This issue still persists daily and makes it difficult to maintain the center of the lane when driving at speeds higher than 30mph. My car currently has approximately 13,000 miles and was purchased in October 2022.

Feb 20, 2024

Steering wheel sticks at speeds over 20 mph. On the freeway, you have to overcome the resistance the steering wheel provides and has resulted in slight over correcting of the steering to remain on intended course. The car is available for inspection. My safety and the safety of others are at risk if I make a poor over correction, which could cause me to lose control and/or crash in to other vehicles. No inspections at this point, I have an appointment with the dealer. No warning lights or other symptoms of the problem.

Feb 20, 2024

When traveling in a straight line for more than a few seconds, it becomes noticeably more difficult to make small adjustments in steering. The additional force required increases the risk of steering more than intended, and often requires an immediate correction in the opposite direction. This is more noticeable at high speeds, but is almost always present after 20-30 minutes of driving. This is reproducible regardless of steering mode or lane keeping assist being active.

Feb 16, 2024

Previously reported car for “Sticky Steering” before ODI Resume and Investigation was launched. Car was at dealership for a few days short of one month. The gearbox was replaced. Since receiving car back, the steering wheel is off center visually and when driving. To continue driving in a straight direction constant pressure has to be applied to center the car to the right. The Lane Keep Assistance will not operate at highway speeds without swerving. Prior to the repair and before the notch steering developed at 9300 miles, the Lane Keep was very smooth and reliable, now it is a safety hazard. Acura stated that this is within normal operating modes. They cannot duplicate Service manager stated that he has customers who would love for their car to drive like this one. The tires are showing signs of wear from pulling. An independent mechanic drove the vehicle and stated that the rack and pinion was most likely installed incorrect with teeth not aligning. No fix but to replace again. Car currently has 12200 miles and has been in service since 4/23.

Feb 16, 2024

Steering wheel sticks while driving and needs more force then normally necessary to make minor steering corrections.

Feb 15, 2024

Steering feels sticky. It takes more effort than it should to adjust steering when driving straight. This is more noticeable when driving at higher speeds.

Feb 14, 2024

FOR SOME TIME NOW, WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (35+ MPH) AND TRAVELING IN A STRAIGHT LINE FOR A FEW SECONDS, THERE WILL BE RESISTANCE WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MAKE MICRO-ADJUSTMENTS TO THE STEERING WHEEL AS YOU WOULD WHILE TRAVELING STRAIGHT (TO KEEP THE CAR AS STARIGHT AS POSSIBLE. A BIT MORE EFFORT IS REQUIRED TO MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL AND ONCE SUCCESSFUL IN DOING SO, THE INPUT WINDS UP BEING TOO MUCH AND YOU HAVE TO TURN THE WHEEL NOW IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION TO CORRECT THE OVER-CORRECTION. ULTIMATELY, YOU WIND UP BOUNCING FROM LANE LINE TO LANE LINE ON FAIRLY STRAIGHT ROADWAYS. THIS IS INDEPENDENT OF ANY OTHER FACTORS INCLUDING LKAS, LANE DEPARTURE MITIGATION AS WELL AS THE STERRING 'DRIVE MODE' (COMFORT, NORMAL, SPORT). I CAN REPLICATE THE ISSUE WITH COMBINIATIONS OF ALL OF THESE SETTINGS ACTIVE/INACTIVE. THIS ISSUE ALSO SEEMS TO APPEAR ABOUT A HALF AN HOUR INTO ANY COMMUTE.

Feb 13, 2024

I am having a sticky steering wheel issue and is available for inspection upon request. While driving I have lost temporary control overcorrecting the sticky steering while pulling into traffic and keeping the vehicle in the lane in heavy traffic. It creates an not predictable driving experience and feel extremely unsafe. I notice the steering wheel favors pulling left like its alignment is constantly off to the left. I have taken it to the dealer when it first started happening and we could not repo it then. It is happening more frequently and I will be scheduling a follow up appointment. My vehicle has no been inspected by the manufacturer, police or other insurance representative. There are no associated warning lights or messages. I noticed at first the wheel was pulling left before the sticky wheel problem occurred.

Feb 10, 2024

I have been experiencing situations while driving where the steering wheel sticks. It is more prevalent at highway speeds but does happen while driving at lower normal street speeds. You constantly have to correct the steering wheel to keep the car moving in a straight line. I took the car to the dealership, they drove the car and advised it was operating as designed. I cant believe this car was designed to steer and track like it does! You are constantly correct the steering and feel the wheel stick. Any help would be appreciated.

Feb 10, 2024

Sterring wheel sticks when driving. Has been happening for a couple of months. I have 18,000 miles on car.. Could cause crash

Feb 9, 2024

My car for the last week has been getting the infamous "sticky" steering when doing highway speeds. It does lead to overcorrection which could be me and other motorist in danger or in harms way. It almost keyword here "almost" got me into a wreck because when trying to pass into another lane, my steering wheel felt stuck and I had to apply some extra force to get into my lane. Luckily, no one was there on the other lane but the overcorrection felt a knee jerk into the lane. No waring lights appear on the dash since the sensor won't pick it up. I have taken my car to the dealership to see if it can be fixed, so far 3 days with no updates and will have to play the "telephone" game to get any updates.

Feb 8, 2024

When driving straight making small adjustments in steering. Feels like it’s binding& hitching.

Feb 6, 2024

I noticed that the steering on my vehicle has become "sticky". The steering wheel seems to stay stuck in position while driving. It takes extra effort to move it from the stuck position. It does not take a lot of force to move it from the stuck position, but it is definitely noticable. This is certainly annoying, and I feel this could be a safety issue

Feb 6, 2024

The steering wheel sticks especially at speeds above 40MPH. While keeping the car centered in the lane, the steering wheel sticks or feels like it going through a notch, while moving the steering wheel back and forth. The wheel sticks in both directions while keeping the car centered in the lane.

The component or system affected is the car's steering. It 'sticks' when driving 35-55 mph in a continuous left or right hand curve. It sticks at slower speeds as well, just not as pronounced. The steering would stay in a 'stuck' position if the driver doesn't make an effort to straighten the steering position. It's truly a safety risk. I'm not driving it any longer on highways because it is getting worse as time and miles pass. The dealer (Acura of North Austin, TX) refuses to spend anytime reproducing this issue, as I took it there for this issue and was basically told there is no problem with the steering after it sat at their dealership for a week and driven a total of 4 (four) miles. This is a very serious safety concern which Acura/Honda needs to address. The Civics of the same year model ARE under recall, but for some reason, the Acura version of the Civic is not. These cars share the SAME COMPONENTS, but the Integra has not been added to the recall. Makes no sense.

Feb 1, 2024

I have been experiencing “sticky steering”—the momentary need to apply additional force to steer the vehicle while on the highway.

Feb 1, 2024

Steering gets sticky hard to steer pull steering to prevent from hitting something and steering loosens and rapidly directs the vehicle in the direction steering wheel was turned to compensate for the sticky steering. Have almost wrecked a dozen times in the last month or two Acura says they can’t do anything about it. Big safety issue.

Feb 1, 2024

Experiencing 'sticky steering' at highway speeds. Steering wheel becomes somewhat stuck and requires more force than should be necessary to make a small adjustment when traveling within a lane. The problem has gotten worse over time as it has become much more noticeable after crossing 15,000 miles. Concerned about future degradation and highway safety.

Jan 31, 2024

This issue is very similar (same as) to the issue described in NHTSA Investigation EA23003 (Momentary Increased Steering Effort). The issue occurs at highway speeds after the vehicle warms up. While driving straight there is a slight resistance to a steering change that results in an overcorrection to steering that then will need to be followed by another correction in the opposite direction to keep vehicle tracking straight. The magnitude of corrections in themselves don't force the vehicle out of the lane but are a major driving distraction that removes focus from critical driving activities like monitoring traffic & road conditions. Effectively, this issue prevents optimal vehicle steering position without constant small steering adjustments.

Jan 31, 2024

The steering is malfunctioning and is available for inspection. The steering wheel is stiff and sticky at high speeds and when driving in a straight line. Before this began, I could move my steering wheel very smoothly to adjust for minor positional changes within my lane. Now, the steering wheel freezes in place, so a very slight left or right position has be veering towards one side. I have to apply noticeably more force to dislodge the steering wheel from its stuck position to correct the car's trajectory. My safety and the safety of others is at risk. I am afraid that driving at high speeds and needing to make rapid adjustments to avoid collision will be catastrophic due to unnatural steering and needing to apply significantly more force to move the wheel. I have not taken the car to the dealership, however, the problem has been reported numerous times on online forums and confirmed by other dealerships. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone since the car's last oil change 3 months ago. There were no warning signs, messages or symptoms of the problem before it appeared.

Jan 31, 2024

The steering is sticking while traveling a low and high speeds. You have to pull the wheel to break the sticking wheel. This most frequently occurs at highway speeds. This is not occurring due to lane departure or other adas system error as they are not engaged. This has been happening for a few weeks now and appears to be a known issue by Honda/Acura with no recall or resolve.

Jan 31, 2024

After approximately 15 minutes of driving at highway speeds, the steering wheel felt "sticky." Making small, lane keeping adjustment suddenly took much more effort and felt very notchy and jerky. When turning, the steering wheel did not return to center as normal, but had to forcibly returned to a center position. It was uncomfortable and felt unsafe, like it would be difficult to fully control the vehicle, especially in the event of an emergency. It made the small, normal adjustments of driving much, much more difficult. I made an appointment with the dealer of the car and was told that their was a failure in the steering rack/power steering system that caused the symptoms. I was told parts would take 5 months to arrive. There was no warning light, audio signal, or any other indication that the failure was about to occur. The issue disappears under 40 miles an hour, but reappears immediately once highway speeds are achieved. Once turned off and rested for several minutes the car will steer normally until the same 10-15 minute period of highway speeds.

Jan 31, 2024

My car has the known "sticky steering" issue associated with this and many '22, '23, and '24 vehicles from Honda. It's been mild and almost imperceptible for a while until recently getting worse. I'd have a hard time knowing when it started; probably 6-8 months ago which was about a year into owning the car.

Jan 30, 2024

The steering wheel feels like it is getting stuck when making small adjustments. It requires a momentary increase in force to overcome the resistance which causes the car to not drive smoothly. It seems like the issue is getting worse as time goes on. I am worried that this will eventually lead to an overcorrection and potential crash. I have reached out to the service center at the dealership and have not received a call back yet to resolve this issue. My wife has the same car and she is not experiencing this issue yet but when I drive her car, it makes the steering issue in my car much more apparent in comparison.

Jan 30, 2024

At highway speeds my steering wheel sticks when trying to make small steering adjustments. When the wheel finally releases it causes an exaggerated movement in the steering wheel causing the car to jerk left or right depending on the steering input.

Jan 29, 2024

After I reached about 8K miles, I started to get the “sticky steering”. It’s more noticeable at higher speeds, but it’s noticeable in general. The steering is no longer smooth and while driving, it’s almost like you’re battling with it to keep a straight line.

Jan 28, 2024

My power steering started out notchy and now it’s actually sticking in some cases and I can hear noises when I turn the steering wheel when I’m at a stop. The problem started after my first oil change around 6500 miles and it’s actually getting worse where I can feel it more and more. I told the dealer and they said they have no fix for the problem with no updated parts and then I should complain on this website to make it known.

Jan 27, 2024

Around the 8,000 mile mark, a problem with “sticky/jerky” steering appeared. The problem is much more noticeable at speeds over 50 mph, but it can also be felt at lower speeds. The steering wheel does not rotate smoothly. Instead, it constantly gets stuck at various spots, and it requires additional driver force to angle it to the desired position. This constant adjustment causes the car to move in a noticeable zig zag fashion, and it much more apparent at highway speeds due to the amount of distance covered per every steering adjustment. At times, it feel dangerous since you are constantly fighting to stay within your lane. Countless reports have surfaced online, and it seems to be affecting the Acura Integra lineup as well as the 11th generation Honda Civic lineup. The flaw appears to be with a faulty worn gear in the steering shaft.

Jan 27, 2024

As others who also have the same issue put it: It almost felt like a video game steering wheel that was glitching. When I'd try to make small corrections to keep the car in the center of the lane, I'd apply pressure and get nothing. Then I'd apply more pressure and the wheel would "pop" and I'd get more correction than I wanted. I thought that was odd, so I googled it and found this thread. Sticky Integra steering; Starting feeling the steering wheel "stick", more prominent on freeways after driving straight. The wheel doesn't feel smooth when trying to adjust smaller turns. It feels like the wheel locked or stuck in a notch. But after moving it, it becomes smooth again before not turning the wheel again. This has been a continuous problem that frequently happens on the highways. It is particularly dangerous as it takes away driver attention and potentially causing crash as the steering needs to freed occasionally!

Jan 26, 2024

The steering require extra effort to turn away from center. This leads to jerky steering inputs and over corrections that could contribute to an accident.

Jan 25, 2024

Steering wheel sticks at center when driving in a straight line. You have to make a slight turn of the wheel to get it unstuck. This started right around 5,000 miles. Apparently I am not alone in this issue with my new car. I am driving it far less because of this issue and the uncertainty that it might get suddenly stuck and not be able to steer the car.

Jan 23, 2024

Sticky steering problem. The steering wheel will randomly require significant effort to move left or right the first 5 to 10 degrees. This results in uncommanded drifting into other lanes. When going in a straight line at interstate speeds, the steering wheel will randomly pick 5 to 10 degrees left or right as the new center point and require significant effort to override. When this randomly occurs, "sticky steering" overrides BOTH lane keep assist and road departure mitigation as they think the action has been manually commanded.

Jan 17, 2024

Experiencing "sticky steering". While driving highway speeds, common corrections to steering randomly require an extra effort due to a slight "sticky" feel on the steering wheel. Applying the extra force suddenly releases it, but it is concerning since you have to be ready to re-correct in case you applied more effort than needed (otherwise you can be in the risk of dangerously invading another lane). I would definitely consider this a drive safety risk. Additional Observations: - It has been more noticeable also in cold weather, up to the point that it also presents itself at low street speeds while doing turns. - Have been noticing a combination of "sticky" and "too loose" steering. According to dealer, there is nothing worn or loose in the steering components, nor an alignment or balancing issues on wheels/tires. - As the mileage increases, the issue becomes more noticeable and more concerning. - Started to experience this since around 9k miles in the odometer.

Jan 16, 2024

The steering wheel is sticky while driving at highway speeds and has significant resistance on speeds over 45 miles per hour. The car does not feel safe to drive during highway speeds, as it requires overcorrection. The Acura dealership has confirmed that the steering rack needs to be replaced and is significantly back ordered. There was no warning of this issue with any lamps, messages or vehicle systems at any point. The problem occurred in the summer of 2023, when the vehicle had approximately 3000 miles.

Jan 9, 2024

This vehicle has what's been described as "sticky steering". At highway speeds and going straight a steering wheel movement (such as repositioning in your lane) sticks on straight before driver's slight pressure on the wheel overcomes the "stickyness" and the car then responds to driver's steering command. Not sure if this defect is a safety problem but anything unusual in the steering mechanism concerns me. Is something in the steering mechanism in the process of failing? Am I about to lose control of the car? I've been driving for 62 years and never encountered anything like this Problem has been reproduced by the dealer.

Jan 8, 2024

Steering started sticking around 20,000 miles. When I turn to the left the wheel sticks and won’t move about a quarter turn in. You have to physically pull on the wheel to get it to dislodge. The problem is reoccurring. Happening for several weeks at a time and the stopping for a day or two and then returning. It is definitely dangerous!! It’s jarring trying to unstick the wheel when it happens.

Jan 6, 2024

When driving above 40 mph, steering wheel feels sticky when making slight turns. It resists subtle movements and in general doesn’t turn smoothly. It’s a safety concern because it almost feels like it’s locking up and I’m not sure in an emergency situation that I could maneuver the vehicle as easily as I should be. This has not been reported to a dealership yet, nor has it been inspected and reproduced in front of a professional technician. No warning lights come on when this issue occurs.

Jan 6, 2024

When driving vehicle at highway speeds the steering wheel appears to lock and requires forceful correction to keep car going straight. Also around curves vehicle wants to keep going the way the wheels are pointed takes forceful effort to straighten.

Jan 5, 2024

Experiencing stickiness in steering effort when travelling in straight line at highway speeds. Overcoming the stickiness sometimes causes vehicle to deviate in its lane.

Jan 3, 2024

The vehicle is starting to have an issue related to steering while the driver is making small lane adjustments during normal driving. The problem is noted while the vehicle is being driven on mostly straight portions of road, but we're also noticing it in curves. While making minor adjustments to stay within the center of the lane, the steering wheel "sticks," preventing the driver from making an adjustment. As the vehicle drifts more towards the inside or outside edge of the lane, the driver needs to make a more forceful adjustment. At this point, the steering wheel "pops" loose and normal steering resumes for several seconds. The problem persists for the entire trip. Once the steering wheel "pops" loose, the driver tends to overcorrect because of the force needed to adjust the stuck steering wheel. The problem began in mid-December 2023. The vehicle had about 24,000 miles on it when the problem was first noticed. The problem is noted when the vehicle is travelling faster than 35-40 mph.

Jan 3, 2024

The steering wheel sticks during turns, curves, lane changes and requires extra effort to adjust making the car behave in a 'jerky' manner. Particularly concerning on wet roadways with short jerky movements to realign the car into its lane after a curve/turn. This 'jerkiness' began occurring about a month after I acquired the vehicle, around 4500 miles. It happens regardless of the speed or location (in town vs. hwy).

Jan 3, 2024

Steering is sticky. Difficult to maneuver away from straight, particularly at higher speeds (45+). Car does not center in lane when LKAS is engaged, and will often drive out of the lane by itself.

Jan 3, 2024

The steering wheel seems to perform inconsistently when turning. While making a turn there is a momentary increase in steering resistance. Therefore more than usual force is required to steer during the momentary increase. This increase in steering resistance is short lived but happens regularly. Inconsistent steering resistance is a safety risk because it can cause the car to turn unpredictably and go off the road. The risk will be greater when the roads are wet or slippery. The problem has not been reported to the dealer but will be reported soon. There were no warning messages.

Jan 3, 2024

Car gets “Sticky Steering” at 60-70mph. Happens from time to time not a constant issue.

Jan 3, 2024

Acura Integra MY2023, 6MT. Steering sticks when make normal minor steering corrections, requiring additional force on the part of the driver to get the wheel to respond. This is especially noticeable at highway speeds. The sticky steering creates the risk of overcorrection and potential for an accident when in traffic on a multi-lane highway. I am unable to safely drive the car while this steering issue persists and respectfully request that NHTSA immediately require Honda to recall the impacted Honda and Acura models for repairs.

Jan 3, 2024

Steering wheel binding when at highway speeds. Steering wheel locks in place and has to be forced to move. Not a fluid motion

Jan 2, 2024

The vehicle is exhibiting the "sticky steering" defect reported by other Acura owners. When the vehicle is warm and driving in a perfectly straight line with no corrections being made, it feels locked straight and requires a higher than expected force to turn the wheel off center.

Dec 30, 2023

At approximately 11,000 miles the steering on the car became "notchy". When making minor corrections the steering wheel will lock and require extra steering pressure to overcome stiction in the system, at which point it jumps a bit past the intended position. Grand movements (turning a residential corner) are relatively symptom free. Symptoms are most noticeable when traveling at speeds above 35mph and when the road is relatively straight. Initially, this was very annoying, but as it gets worse it could certainly be a safety concern as it affects the precision and smoothness of the steering system. If the system were to fully seize all steering control would be lost. The symptoms present after the car is warmed and appears normal when cold.

Dec 29, 2023

Within the last two weeks I have noticed that when I reach cruising speeds of above 45-50mph my steering wheel will lock up when going in a straight line. It requires extra effort to get the steering wheel to respond. It sort of pops back into being able to steer. This is particularly unnerving when trying to make subtle adjustments when driving at cruising speeds. The component has not been checked out, I have no warning lights or notifications. This this started to appear at about 8000 miles on my odometer.

Dec 29, 2023

Steering wheel gets very stiff and while driving and I do not feel safe driving my car. I already took it in to the dealership for a diagnostic but they said everything is fine. They didn’t repair anything and my car is still having the same issue.

Dec 29, 2023

Extra resistance and steering effort when using steering wheel to make small corrections to stay in lane; steering effort feels “sticky.” Occurs after approximately 20 minutes of freeway driving.

Dec 28, 2023

At speeds above 45 MPH, especially during cold weather, the steering wheel behaves in a "sticky" manner. It requires substantially more force to turn it from the center position.

Dec 28, 2023

The steering is malfunctioning. When driving at medium to high-speed, the steering wheel feels somewhat sticky. This is most noticeable when on a straight stretch, or on a slow curve. When the car was new, the steering was responsive to subtle inputs. Now, the wheel seems stuck, and it requires an unexpected amount of Torque to overcome the stickiness. This has not caused an accident, but causes a maddening amount of wobbling around within my lane, especially on a road trip. My safety is put at risk because subtle adjustments while driving, often require a second stronger effort. For example, while driving today, I had to dodge some road debris. My initial input to the wheel did not produce a change in direction and so I had to exert a larger input - this reduces the predictability of the steering response. I brought it to the dealer, but they were unable to validate my concern. I plan to bring it to my local mechanic as I have to drive 200 miles to get to an Acura dealer. There are no warning lights. It is unrelated to the lane departure system. I think it started at about 10,000 miles, but the car now has 17,000 miles. I came across investigation: EA23003, which perfectly describes my problem, including the part about the dealer saying that it is normal behavior.

Dec 28, 2023

Hi. Our 1-owner, 13,500-mile, 2023 Integra started experiencing “sticky steering” back in October 2023, which has gotten worse. It happens at all vehicle speeds, and in each of the three driving modes. It has gotten annoying, and seems quite unsafe. Especially for our inexperienced son (18). Sudden correction/overcorrection of steering input has the vehicle wandering off line, and jerking side to side; when none of this was experienced in all the months prior. We are bringing the vehicle in to our dealership (Maus, Tampa, FL) next week. Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Dec 26, 2023

While at cruising speeds the steering rack seems to grab when doing micro adjustments to keep straight and I have to apply more pressure which causes a small jerk in the steering

Dec 26, 2023

When driving at highway speeds, the steering of the car feels like it gets stuck, especially when trying to change lanes.. When turning the steering wheel to change lanes, it doesn’t do anything until you give it a little tug more to change lane. There’s also a problem when going over 40MPH over a slight bend, the car doesn’t turn until you tug the wheel more to whichever way the road is going. It’s pretty dangerous especially when you need to avoid an accident, any little bit of over correcting or under correcting can cause you to be the cause/victim of an accident.

Dec 26, 2023

When driving on the freeway, I started noticing the steering would stick when attempting to make slight movements to follow the changes in the road. I would have to put more effort into my steering to correct it and it would feel sticky immediately. This happens on the whole trip where I'm constantly having to correct it slightly left and slightly right, with more effort, as if the power steering system was low on fluids, which makes it a very uncomfortable. I do not know if this will get worse to the point that it will take even more effort to correct the steering or even lock itself in one position which can lead to dangerous for myself and any occupants. This vehicle is available for inspection upon request. I have an appointment with the dealership tomorrow morning for them to take a look at this issue. Hopefully they will be able to fix it. I have not seen any warning on the dash. I first experienced this issue at around the 10k miles mark. It was intermittent between trips at first but now it is happening on a more frequent basis. I did a Google search on this issue and noticed other 2023 Integra owners are also experiencing this exact problem with their vehicle. That is where I learned that I should report this to NHTSA. Hopefully this information helps to get the ball rolling on coming up with some type of corrective action for this steering issue.

Dec 24, 2023

This car has about 9,000 miles on it and it now has issues with the steering wheel sticking and jerking when it gets above ~50mph. It feels difficult to keep between the lines on the highway because the steering is not functioning as it used to. So much that the car flagged a warning as “driver attention low” and recommended I take a break. My attention was incredibly high because of the steering issue but I could not keep the wheel from jerking in small increments back and forth. This is now happening every time I get above 50mph.

Dec 24, 2023

Steering feels sticky/grabby. Slight adjustments at speed. Happens in turns as well. Seems to be worst at higher speeds.

Dec 24, 2023

I'm experiencing sticky steering at highway speeds. While traveling in a straight line and needing to make small adjustments, the steering gets stuck for a second, then releases. This happens over and over.

Dec 22, 2023

The steering sticks while trying to keep the car driving in a straight motion. The speed doesn't seem to matter. It feels as if the steering wheel is constantly fighting me. Sometimes it makes me drift towards other cars next to me while I'm fighting to keep it center.

Dec 21, 2023

For the past few months, my car has been experiencing a recurring issue with the steering wheel feeling inexplicably stuck. This concern poses a severe safety risk as it occurs almost every time I'm behind the wheel. Whether I'm driving on the highway or in the city, attempting to make slight adjustments to the left or right results in the steering wheel becoming rigid, demanding additional force to maneuver. This scares me as it can lead to an inability to avoid a hazard on the road. This increased force often leads to an over-adjustment, causing the vehicle to veer more than intended, a hazardous situation, especially on the highway. Driving my car has become an alarming experience, and I find myself feeling extremely anxious each time I take it out on the road. Upon conducting thorough research, I discovered that many other owners have faced a similar issue. Notably, the Honda Civic, which shares several components with the Acura Integra, has previously undergone a recall for this exact problem.

Dec 21, 2023

Steering gets “stuck” during highway driving, requiring extra effort to move. This happens in curves and straight line driving. The issue is worse in colder temperatures, and has become more prominent with more miles.

Dec 20, 2023

Steering feels sticky at times. As in, more effort is needed than normal to turn the wheel past a certain point. Most prevalent on the highway where the problem is consistent from 50-65mph. Has been occurring the last couple weeks. Currently at 7,149 miles.

Dec 20, 2023

When driving I’ve noticed small catches that happens when I am driving. For example If I am traveling in a straight line for a few seconds and have to make a correction( i.e. going around a corner) in my steering, the steering wheel requires a little more effort in order for the car to adjust the direction of travel. My car has 8,44 miles.

Dec 20, 2023

Steering gets “sticky” or “notch” feeling sometimes.

Dec 19, 2023

Steering wheel began sticking when centered/driving straight, which causes a momentary increase in steering effort. This began around 7,500 miles. The steering wheel, when centered, resists movement in both a counterclockwise and clockwise direction. Firm movement will dislodge it, resulting in a "jerk" in the direction of the turn. The movement required to dislodge it is significantly more firm/forceful than the movement required to turn the steering wheel after dislodging it. The issue is noticeable at a stop, but becomes more pronounced at higher speeds. The Miami Acura service department told me "there is nothing we can do" and that they are "waiting for Acura to tell us what to do because there are a lot of other people with the same issue".

Dec 18, 2023

The contact owns a 2023 Acura Integra. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH and attempting to complete a turn, the steering wheel seized, and failed to return to center. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular failure. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the steering rack. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Action Number: EA23003 (Steering). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 5,000.

The contact owns a 2023 Acura Integra. The contact stated while driving at various speeds and turning the steering wheel to the right or to the left, the steering wheel seized. The contact stated that upon turning the steering wheel to the intended position, the steering wheel pulled out of the intended position and seized. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was test-driven, and the dealer informed the contact that no failure was found. A software update for the EPS system was performed; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Action Number: EA23003 (Steering). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 17,200.

Steering becomes sticky & jerky, especially at highway speeds. The usual smoothness disappears & you have to work against it to make mild corrections you normally wouldn’t even notice. I have thought this for many months now, but it was sporadic & caused me to question if I was just being overly sensitive. But I recently updated the audio system per the wireless updates, and today, the steering “stickiness” was egregious. It was pouring rain & that type of jerky motion made it very unsafe to drive. On my way home from work today, the stickiness was gone for the first leg of my trip. Then when I turned on the car to finish the second leg, the stickiness had returned as bad as it was this morning (although no longer raining). CarPlay & even the FM radio also seem to malfunction now as well. I called Acura earlier today & have made a service appointment for 12/27/23, the first opening they had available.

Dec 17, 2023

When driving, particularly at highway speeds, the steering will stick and get tight, it makes the car difficult to maintain in the lane and requires effort to regain control. It is a dangerous condition. It does not always do it and is sometimes worse than others. This began occurring within the first 1,000 miles, now at about 10,000 miles.

Dec 15, 2023

Steering feel is for lack of a better term, sticky in its steering effort. Sometime is is very fluid, and other times it has more resistance. This can happen with a few seconds, or a few minutes. Sometimes the steering wants to pull to one side or the other, and I have to manually correct it. All steering assist features are turned off to verify that there is no computer related interaction affecting the steering feel and response. This happens in all three drive modes. Has manifested it self more as the weather got colder. Even at a stop light, the steering pressure will change, and I will feel more or less resistance in the steering wheel.

Dec 15, 2023

At highway speeds while traveling in straight lines, the steering becomes temporarily hard, almost sticky-feeling where even minor adjustments require unusual effort. The wheel feels like it's locked and with noticeable effort becomes unstuck, causing an over-correction. Only noticeable at highway speeds after driving for a while (engine warm).

Dec 12, 2023

Increased effort when you try to start rotating the steering wheel.

Dec 12, 2023

Sticky steering. After warm-up and driving, the steering ‘catches’ in curves and if not caught, it will stay in a turning position. Does this turning either direction and in any Driving Mode. Acura of North Austin refuses to look into it, stating, after driving it 5 miles over a 4-day period, they can’t seem to replicate the issue and now refuses to work with me toward a solution. This steering issue has gradually become worse over time. I’m afraid of the safety issue and unnecessary wear on the tires. Please help if at all possible!

Dec 12, 2023

While driving at highway speeds in a straight line, the steering wheel stiffens, and takes effort to adjust steering. Also, sometimes while driving at moderate speeds, the steering wheel gets stuck when taking long left turns and does not revert back to center without forcing it back to center with hands.

Dec 11, 2023

When driving down the highway, trying to make small adjustments to keep the car in the lane, the steering wheel does not want to turn. When it does finally turn you can end up swerving. It has 12k miles and it has only started doing this the last 3-4 weeks. This car is only driven on the highway 55-70mph. Took it into the dealership and explained to them that it only happened on the highway. They took it out for a test drive in the city 35-45, so of course they were unable to repeat it and sent me on my way, without inspecting anything else. Driving down a back road highway could easily cause a head-on collision trying to force the steering wheel to move. There are no warnings of any kind when this occurs.

Dec 11, 2023

Car has "sticky steering" issue. When turning the wheel, it feels as if the steering wheel sticks in places, and you need to apply more pressure to overcome the sticking before it turns. If it happens unexpectedly, could cause a jerky steering action in the car, which could potentially lead to an accident. This issue has not yet been confirmed by a dealer - we have not taken it in yet. There are no warnings or lamps or anything.

Dec 10, 2023

The steering wheel on all driving modes (sport, comfort, normal and individual) is stiff and sticky randomly at all speeds and both on regular city streets and highways/freeways. The issue comes and goes during both cold and hot weather. It is also stiff when I am doing the driving without lane assistance and also does it when the lane assistance is on. Problem has been going on for about 3 weeks. I also hear a loud thumping sound when the car break is on and the wheel is turned all the way to the left or right.

Dec 10, 2023

While operating the vehicle we have noticed the steering sticking while attempting to turn the wheel. Usually occurs on the highway or curvy roads. Seems very unsafe as you must jerk the wheel to maintain control. If not, the vehicle will remain locked in the turn and not straighten out.

Dec 10, 2023

Sticky steering when trying to do small adjustments

Dec 9, 2023

Sometimes when correcting the steering wheel it will stick.

Dec 8, 2023

I am having issues with the steering 'feel' of my car. I live in Minnesota, and since October, I've noticed the steering feels 'stuck' on center when driving on the highway at speeds of 65mph and over. The wheel takes extra force to move off center, then feels jerky and steers too quickly when moving off center. I mention that I live in a cold state and only noticed the issues when the temperature dropped and think it's worse on cold days. At speeds above 60mph, the steering feels loose and it is hard to keep the car centered in a lane - it always feels like you're driving on a windy day. The problem is much worse at speeds exceeding 70 mph. It seems like the effort required to turn the wheel at speed is variable and always changing. I've also started to notice the wheel will 'fall' off center and jolt slightly to the right or left when sitting at a stop light. I took my car to an Acura dealer on December 4 and expressed my concerns. I thought I had a tire or alignment issue and googled 'Integra sticky steering' on a whim and found that there may be a widespread problem with Honda Civics and Acura Integras, which are mechanically identical. The dealer said they've never heard of any issues. They drove my car with me and said it felt fine. I asked them to get it up to 70 mph but they stayed below 60 mph. The weather that day was above freezing, and I didn't notice the steering feel issues I've observed on colder days. The service advisor said Acura had no technical service bulletins about the issue, and said they called the tech line who claimed they've only had one issue with an Integra somewhere on the east coast. I think Acura is downplaying this problem. I'm worried about the safety of my car.

Dec 7, 2023

Steering will stick or jerk during small adjustments.

Dec 7, 2023

Steering wheel becomes sticky after 40mph and at highway speeds. The steering wheel is very hard to adjust and the smallest movement will cause it to jump, stick to either side. The car is constantly swerving because there is no smooth movement or adjustability on the steering wheel. When parking and steering there is noise coming out of the steering column when the steering wheel is moved.

Dec 5, 2023

Steering wheel becomes sticky at times making it difficult to steer.

Dec 5, 2023

While traveling at low speeds (under 40mph or so) there appears to be no issue. However, when traveling at speeds higher than that, the steering becomes "sticky". This is from the neutral, or forward traveling position of the the steering wheel. There is resistance felt to the wheel while attempting to correct for minor left/right adjustments. Safety of self, passengers, and others is at risk due to the potential of over correcting due to the resistance and force needed to overcome said resistance. It would seem as though this would be replicable, but has not yet been seen by the manufacturer or others. The vehicle can be made available for inspection upon request.

Dec 3, 2023

The steering feels to stick when turning at highway speed. Making minor adjustments to turn is difficult. After aligning straight, the feeling goes away. Doesn’t happen every time and tends to happen after driving a few miles on the highway.

Dec 2, 2023

The steering in my Integra becomes sticky after driving for 15/20 minutes, and then continues to get progressively worse the longer the drive is. There is a distinct banging noice when attempting to move the steering wheel from its current position when it is stuck. The degree of stick is strong enough that if the wheel is in its stuck state on a slight curve in the road, I can take my hands off the wheel and it will remain in the same position as the car continues around the bend. This issue has severely diminished the driving enjoyment factor of this vehicle, and has compromised the safely as well. When the steering wheel doesn’t respond how you are expecting it to, that’s definitely an opportunity for an accident to happen. My dealership has confirmed the issue, but they were unable to provide a solution at this time. To my knowledge, the vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, and there were no warning lights associated with this issue. The issue arose after about 4 months of ownership

Dec 2, 2023

Steering feels sticky, and wheel vibrates when turning it slowly in either direction. Vibration goes away when turning wheel in faster, sweeping motions - it's only noticeable when making small adjustments to steering. Started happening suddenly roughly after 12k miles.

Dec 1, 2023

For the past 4,000 miles or so, steering wheel has experienced slight jerks or moments of "stickiness" when driving at highway speeds. Incidents occur during all types of temperature and weather conditions. Turning the Lake Keeping Assist system on or off has no impact on steering wheel issues.

Dec 1, 2023

2023 Integra ASpec CVT, just after the vehicle turned 10,000 miles, the steering became sticky. The steering wheel sticks in position while going straight. It feels more difficult to move the steering wheel. Then as I come to a curve, it takes more pressure to move the steering wheel so the vehicle will turn. Then the steering wheel becomes loose causing over steering. This mostly happens at speed above 40mph. I currently have 13,7000 miles and problem has not changed. This first occurred during the summer months.

Nov 30, 2023

Intermittent 'stickiness' occurs in the electronic power steering when driving straight at speeds above 35 MPH. This manifests as a sensation of the wheels being locked in a forward position, requiring extra effort for minor steering adjustments. The issue persists even with all lane assist features deactivated. While the extra effort needed is slight, it occasionally feels unsafe.

Nov 30, 2023

Steering is "sticky" and the car makes you use more effort to do lane corrections. Sort of feels like somebody has a finger on the wheel holding the wheel while you try to adjust the course. Once the wheel starts to move it loosens up, but it just feels unnatural while driving. This is even with lane keep assist turned OFF.

Nov 30, 2023

The steering has become "sticky" when turning between the 10 and 12 positions (clock face), at all speeds, slow or highway. It happens mostly when I make a long left turn and return the wheel to its straight "12" position. I get a sticking/stuck/notch feeling through the wheel, which feels like the rack is sticking. At highway speed, this is extremely unnerving.

Nov 26, 2023

This problem started happening a month ago when the car had about 15k miles. When I am on the highway and need to make minor adjustments to stay in my lane, the steering wheel will get stuck and I would have to apply a firmer turn on the wheel resulting in very jerky corrections of my steering. I do not feel safe anymore as I am driving on the highway and the car is giving me a hard time to stay in my lane. This is with all lane assistance turned off.

Nov 26, 2023

When traveling at speed the steering breaks loose. Steering jumps, looses firmness and then corrects. It will do this constantly on the interstate or highway. Feels like steering slack. Similar to hitting ice on a dry road. Started about a month ago and continues. Dealership will not document.

Nov 22, 2023

Even with the steering safety assistance turned off... the steering "sticks" while trying initiate turns/adjustments. Turning straight after a curve becomes jerky and unsafe. Keeping straight in a lane without jerking an overcorrection can cause concern. This is also adding to hand/wrist fatigue over long distance commute. Bottom line it feels unsafe.

Nov 21, 2023

The Steering wheel gets stuck. you have to apply strong force to make slight correrctions, was almost in an accident. Dealership refuses to fix car underwarranty.

Nov 19, 2023

The steering malfunctions consistently while driving and occasionally while parked. The wheel forces itself to jerk back and forth every few seconds and sticks as it does so causing the driver to fight the opposite direction. When parked the wheel still does the same thing after driving. In addition to this issue, the engine auto start/stop feature has to be disabled every drive because when stopped, the engine does not fully restart causing the car to false start and stop again, therefore potentially causing an accident when entering moving traffic.

Nov 16, 2023

More frequently, I am finding that the steering wheel seems to "stick" when I try to turn or make slight adjustments whilst driving at 30 mph or higher. I have noticed that it does it more when it is cold out, and by cold I mean under 50 degrees. How long the car has been on seems to make no difference at all. This has been happening for quite some time, I reported it to my Acura service department last winter. They had no idea - now I see that higher trim 11th gen Civics are being recalled for this same issue.

Nov 16, 2023

The steering sticks while driving primarily between 45 and 65 miles per hour. It occasionally happens at lower and higher speeds and is worse when it is windy. It is very difficult to keep in a lane and nothing seems to help. It started around 13000 miles. I have nt been to the dealer but plan to shortly.

Nov 10, 2023

When driving, steering gets stuck and needs a lot of force to move which causes me to oversteer. Very unsafe especially in narrow lanes. I've seen many others with the same issue.

Nov 9, 2023

The steering is ‘sticky’ making the vehicle very difficult to drive without wandering all over the road. I first reported this problem 2 months after purchasing the vehicle new (Feb 2023 - purchase was 12/2022). At that time, the dealer did a visual inspection, and a short test drive and said the vehicle was acting properly and ‘just reacting to the roadway’. They made it seem like I was ‘imagining’ this issue. And they never even hinted at this ‘Honda Sticky Steering problem’ that had been occurring for quite some time at this point. I will say that the problem was much more obscure at that point then it is now, approximately 8 months later. But I definitely feel that the dealer deceived me about the problem. Subsequently the problem has worsened considerably. 1 month ago (Oct 2023), I took the car back to the dealer, and although they acknowledged the presence of a steering problem in my car (i.e. it’s pretty obvious now), they still did not even mention the ‘sticky steering problem’. They then proceeded to replace the left front strut due to an error code. This did not solve the problem, but they did then tell me about the ‘Honda Sticky Steering Issue’. This made me quite angry! They then proceeded to tell me I could keep driving the vehicle normally, and they’d get back to me. Are you kidding me??? This made me even more angry. I told them I didn’t feel comfortable / safe driving the vehicle, and they said there was nothing else they could do until they determine how to fix this, whenever that might be. This happens at all speeds and driving modes. The car now has 10,800 miles on it. PLEASE HELP!!! [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Nov 8, 2023

Steering, yes Car is hard to steer at highway speeds, could potentially cause an accident Problem has not been reproduced yet Component has not been inspected No warning lamps Steering sticks and requires extra force to overcome, causing over correction. I just bought the car and will be taking it back to the dealer for them to check. This car has the same drive train as the 2023 Honda Civic and this complaint is well documented, and many people have had their steering racks or motors replaced under warranty, I'm just concerned that this won't be a long term fix.

Oct 28, 2023

the steering wheel is sticky (getting stuck)

Oct 28, 2023

When going over 30mph, the steering wheel will freeze into a static position, requiring a few pounds of force to unstick it and steer again - similar to the force needed to interrupt lane assist. This happens consistently for several days, then will stop for a few days, then start for several days again. Because it sticks, it is impossible to smoothly make adjustments while driving. Instead, every time I unstick it, the wheel turns slightly more than I want, causing an extremely unsafe situation, particularly when traveling at high speeds. It also stuck while I was parked with the car on, recently - but that’s the first time it has happened when not driving. It sticks the worst between 30-50mph.

Oct 28, 2023

At speeds around 40-50, the steering begins to 'stick' and makes it harder to drive smoothly and autocorrects. At lower speeds it isn't noticeable. It also just started happening why I hit 2,700 miles on the odometer.

Oct 24, 2023

While driving in a straight line, steering catches or sticks when trying to make small steering adjustments from side to side. Most noticeable at highway speeds. More than normal force is required to adjust steering either direction. Feels a bit unsafe on the highway due to constantly fighting the steering. There have been no warning lights or notifications in the vehicle. I live 400 miles from the nearest Acura dealer so unable to take it in. I’ve reported the issue to Acura customer service but they’ve not been helpful. I took it to a nearby Honda dealer but they can’t work on it without Acura’s blessing.

Oct 24, 2023

When I am driving in a highway or road at about 40mph and higher my steering wheel “locks” when I try to do minor adjustments. Whenever I drive straight and have to readjust I have to jerk the steering wheel. After I jerk it its smooth however if I drive straight again it “locks again”. It is very uncomfortable and unsafe. It also locks in place when you do a long curve since you leave your steering wheel in place after you try to readjust to the straight road the steering feels “sticky”.

Oct 23, 2023

I have a 2023 Integra A-Spec 6MT with about 7500 miles. I've been experiencing a "sticky" steering problem over the last 3-4 weeks. I mainly notice it while driving in the 45-55 MPH range on a straight newly-repaved state highway near my home in Wake Forest, NC. I've tried disabling the power steering and LKA options, and switched between Sport, Normal, and Comfort modes. In all cases, as I'm driving straight and try to make a small steering adjustment, I feel a gap and then a bump on the steering. I need to make an extra push on the steering wheel beyond the bump to make the turn or adjustment. When I got home yesterday, I actually noticed a similar "gap" when I turned the wheel at full stop in my driveway. This problem occurs regularly after 10-15 minutes of driving. Once it starts, it remains even at lower speeds.

Oct 19, 2023

When driving straight at speeds above 45 MPH the steering locks or freezes up and requires additional force to move at which point it loosens and over corrects. It has happened periodically over the 10k miles I have had it, purchased new, but lately is happening very frequently as in every minute. I have also experienced the wheel jerk the wrong direction while in a turn. This has happened maybe 6 times over that 10k miles but is very scary. These issues to me do not feel like mechanical issues and rather software/technological in nature.

Oct 16, 2023

A momentary increase in steering effort (described as "sticky steering") that occurs mostly at highway speeds after driving for a certain amount of time.

Oct 15, 2023

Especially when it is cold out, the steering becomes very sticky. This is mostly noted when traveling straight and need to make small adjustments in a lane. It almost feels like it pops and breaks free. I had brought it up to my dealer and they claim they didn't feel anything and have not heard of this issue

Oct 13, 2023

The steering wheel in my car has been getting, what I can best describe as, "stuck" intermittently at various speeds. It's most noticeable when attempting to do minor corrections while driving straight. The wheel acts as though it does not want to budge prompting the driver to yank on it a bit to get it out of the "stuck" spot which then overcorrects. It was mostly annoying at first but is becoming dangerous. I went to the dealership today and the service tech told me this is an issue that others have reported but there's no recall or service bulletin for it. The car shows no warning lamps or messages but the problem is getting progressively worse and driving it is beginning to cause me anxiety. The car is less than a year old.

Oct 13, 2023

When driving at interstate speeds the steering wheel feels like it gets 'stuck'. If you try to make a small correction within your lane, or if you try to change lanes there is a sensation that the wheel is 'stuck' requiring me to apply more force to move the wheel, then you will feel the resistance break and the steering returns to a normal feel. It used to only happen when driving in a straight line for a period of time, but now if I'm going around a long curve on the interstate and go to straight the wheel back out at the end of the curve I can feel the steering wheel jump back to center without my input. My Integra has about 4500 miles on it. This issue began about 2 weeks ago. I have reported the issue to the dealer I bought the car from and their service department has looked at it and said they could not reproduce the issue. I asked a salesman to drive it and he noticed it right away and left the car running so that the service manager could drive it and he did, but he said he didn't notice anything. There have been no l warning lights from the vehicle and no trouble codes stored by the vehicle.

Oct 12, 2023

Driving at speeds above 35mph, steering requires extra effort. Intermittent problem, but began within 45 minutes of starting the vehicle. Once it occurs, it persists during the drive. At low speeds, steering feel is normal. When reaching 35mph and above the steering required significantly increased effort to adjust or correct. Prior to these incidents, steering was responsive and easy. However, when high effort is required, wheel would feel stuck in center position and require extra force to make small adjustments. At highway speeds this is more pronounced and feels unsafe, since it is more difficult to control the vehicle and requires strong grip with both hands. At the time it happened, vehicle was in Comfort mode with lane guidance disabled and lane departure assist disabled. Checked sport and normal modes too, no improvement. When it happens, switching drive modes or toggling assistance features do not make any difference. First occurrence was 12/19/2022. I made an appointment with the dealer on 01/25/2023. We were unable to reproduce the issue. No repair was made, and the vehicle indicated no fault codes. No warning lamps appeared. Conditions on 1/28/2023: 39F, Sunny. Drove 100mi in the morning (9AM-11AM). Parked for 6 hours and drove 100mi in the evening (5PM-7PM). Issue began at 9:45AM on Interstate 40 west of Durham NC and continued even after parking for 6 hours.

Oct 12, 2023

Steering difficulty at cruising speeds. Above 35mph, steering can become difficult to move. When the issue occurs, making any adjustment to the wheel requires increased effort. Vehicle feels unsafe and difficult to control. It seems to be an intermittent problem with electric power steering. Occurred September 30, 2023, October 1 2023, October 7 2023, and October 10, 2023. Conditions 65-75F and sunny near Raleigh, NC. Problem occurred in December/January 2023 on this vehicle at 4,400 miles. Has not occurred from February to September, now occurring again at 11,000 miles See also previous report 11549698 Problem has not been reproduced by dealer, happens intermittently. Not inspected by manufacturer and no warning lamps, messages or other indicators.

Oct 9, 2023

Steering is sticking and moving car to the right or left workout me steering it in that direction. I have read in the Acura Integra forums that there have been many instances of this and it should be reported due to safety issues

Oct 9, 2023

Steering begins to "stick" as the vehicle increases speed. This causes overcompensation when making small steering adjustments while driving.

Oct 6, 2023

On Friday October 6, 2023 I was driving home from Goodson Acura of Dallas. I had brought my car here for service for a different issue. I noticed that on the highway the car's steering felt heavier than normal. I drove a bit more, and the steering seem to get "stuck" while the wheel was on center. The lane assistance option was turned off, even when turning the wheel slightly the car steering sort of got stuck in that point until I had to exert additional energy to turn it back to the position that I wanted. For five days I was driving a loaner 2023 Acura TLX while my Integra was being serviced for two separate issues. That vehicle did not exhibit any of the sticky steering behavior that I noticed on the Integra. This leads me to believe there is some type of defect in the part in the software, controlling the part potentially. Overall, I am not very confident in my car safety right now owning it for slightly under one year. Have not yet informed my Acura dealership and I'm a bit frustrated since they literally had my car from Monday when I dropped it off in the evening until Friday in the evening when I went to go pick it up. Upon further inspection it has been brought to my attention this is a known issue on certain Honda products, namely, the civic. The Integra the vehicle is based on the civic and shares many of the same components. I was hoping that by now there would be a permanent fix in place. Replacing a steering rack on a vehicle with less than 8000 miles seems extreme. I've been thinking about trading this car in, but it's likely that the new owner will run into the same issue, not to mention taking a financial hit from selling a one year old vehicle versus when I bought it new. I'm hoping the issue goes away on its own but I'm not feeling super confident right now.

Oct 5, 2023

If you search up Civic or “Integra sticky steering” on google theres been complaints about this. Basically the steering wheel developed a problem where it feels “sticky” when trying to adjust yourself while driving. I sometimes have to put more effort into a slight turn because theres resistance like theres a notch you have to get past to free the steering wheel. Sometimes the steering wheel does not adjust itself back to the nuetral position as if i have no power steering.

Oct 3, 2023

An issue with the electric power steering rack causes the steering to feel “sticky” or “notchy” when making small steering adjustments above 35 MPH, such as staying in the lane on the highway. The wheel tends to feel stuck at a certain position momentarily and requires additional force to “break loose”, then the power steering assist kicks back in and causes excessive steering input and swerving. Making small adjustments precisely is very difficult, and it severity increases could cause loss of control or unintentional swerving into other lanes. Dealer confirmed upon inspection that it was the same issue with the electric power steering rack that is currently under investigation by the NHTSA in the Integra’s sister car, the Honda Civic. The vehicles share a modular chassis platform. The Integra specifically shares a drivetrain and suspension components with the Civic Si. No warning lights or malfunctions are indicated in-vehicle. Knowing this led me to believe my vehicle was having this issue, which the dealership confirmed. Their tech believes the vehicle safe to drive, and I was denied a service loaner due to “not purchasing the vehicle at that dealer”. There is no ETA for arrival of replacement parts to the dealer. I was told the Honda equivalents were in stock, leading me to believe Honda/Acura and the dealership are aware of the malfunction or faulty design.

Oct 1, 2023

Steering needs constant correction. Pulls to the left and sticks when correcting. Steering is constantly sticking creating no confidence in vehicle control. The sticking causes one to apply to much steering when turning in to a corner. Impossible to make smooth turns.

Sep 29, 2023

While driving, especially at speeds over 40 mph, the steering wheel will become slightly "frozen" where minor corrections or adjustments to the steering wheel cause the wheel to jerk or over-correct. This is especially noticeable at highway speeds. So far, the over-correction is not severe enough to cause me to depart my existing lane but at highway speeds, I've had a few close calls where simply the speed combined with traffic have made me very nervous and not fully in control. At first it would only happen occasionally but over the past several weeks, it has become a constant occurrence, every time I drive. Although the car is equipped with adaptive steering and lane keep assist, I do not have these functions active. It does not result in any warning lights or alarms. Additionally, I have tried changing the drive "modes" and found that it occurs in all modes, including normal, comfort, and sport. My vehicle currently has 9,000 miles. I took the vehicle to my local dealer last week (9/21/23) and after test driving it, they advised that the steering was functioning "as intended" and any oddities I was noticing were intentional. I do not accept this response and will be returning to the dealer again in the coming week or so to have them test again, once my schedule allows.

Sep 28, 2023

Steering. Steering sticking at speeds over 45 mile an hour and making slight left turns at slower speeds. with the steering sticking, i am having to make corrections that is causing the car to swerve on the road. car has not been checked by the dealer yet but is scheduled to be done. no warning lights are showing. the problem first started around 10,000 miles.

Sep 26, 2023

While driving at speeds above 40 MPH the steering becomes "sticky", taking more force than usual to move it from a neutral position. This just began occurring after 14,000 miles and is not associated with any error messages from the car. The condition happens with cruise control on or off and with lane keep assist features off. From reading reports this issue seems to be affecting 2022 Honda Civic and Civic SI models as well which share the same drivetrain components as the Acura Integra.

Sep 24, 2023

The problem I am reporting is that while driving at speeds of greater than 40mph, every single time the steering wheel has this issue where it begins to stick in place and requires more force than usual to change directions, which then results in an over correction every time, where I then have to put it back into a centered position. It is more apparent at speeds greater than 75 mph and not noticeable under 30 mph. 1. The Steering wheel seems to be the problem, according to some sources online with similar experiences the steering rack could be the problem. 2. My safety, as well as the safety of all passengers and other drivers are affected by this, as I have to use more force than usual which could create unpredictable movements in the car. This can be especially dangerous on ice or snow. 3. The issue has multiple reports online, as well as an active investigation in the 2022-23 Honda Civics who share a drivetrain with the integra. 4. My specific Integra has not been investigated by any other sources, although I will soon set up an appointment to get it looked into. 5. There were absolutely no warnings or signs as to when this started happening. It just randomly started happening around two weeks ago at the 15,000 Mile mark, with no external forces or maintenance recently to cause this. 2.

Jul 19, 2023

when driving on the highway the steering wheel started sticking

Jun 24, 2023

Steering is very jerky and sticks into a turning position while driving at highway speeds. It takes a heavy correction to get the car out of the “lock”. Nearly had a couple of accidents due to the car trying to swerve in the opposite lane in turns.

Apr 9, 2023

While driving at highway speeds around 60-65 mph, the steering feels "sticky". It takes more effort than normal to move the steering wheel and correct course. Rarely, the steering wheel does not return to the center position after a long sweeping curve on a highway and needs to be jerked back slightly to get it to return to center. This tends to happen around an hour or more into a long drive, usually when it's warm weather. For reference, the car only has around 6500 miles on it.

Apr 5, 2023

Steering wheel is “sticking” at highway speeds. When driving straight, I have to lightly force the wheel to get it to click out of where it was last place. It ends up jerking the wheel to get it out of this stuck position.

Mar 26, 2023

Sticky steering wheel that jerks after I reached 6500 miles, it feels dangerous and causes me to swerve.. to the point people beep at me thinking I’m not paying attention but I’m trying to stop the jerking from happening

Mar 23, 2023

Steering produces a sticking sensation, specifically when traveling at speed on straight roads and slight steering adjustments are needed to correct course. When attempting to make the adjustments, more effort is needed for a very short amount of time, to get the steering to unstick. It ranges on severity from very minute to quite a bit of force needed to steer from straight. Dealer looked at the problem and said they could not reproduce the effect. I took tech for a ride and had them feel when it was happening when I was driving. The tech felt it, but said that was “normal”. Vehicle has not been independently inspected as I took to dealer because it is still under warranty. No warning lights have occurred.

Mar 23, 2023

Sticky steering observed at highway speed. Steering wheel would lose power assist or feel sticky or jerkiness briefly by giving steering wheel a very slight turn to either the left or right at highway speed when going straight. Complaint to dealer and already replaced steering rack under warranty once at 10000 miles. Problem seems to have come back again after driven the newly replace steering rack for 5000 miles. Right now, problem would come and goes intermittently already contact dealership for appointment to troubleshoot the issue.

Mar 22, 2023

Same issue with the '22/'23 Honda Civic, which the Integra is based on -- "sticky steering". AutoBlog reported on it at https://www.autoblog.com/2023/03/21/nhtsa-honda-civic-sticky-power-steering-investigation/.

Mar 21, 2023

The steering wheel sticks at times. Driving straight and in turns. It's a slight stick, but increasingly more noticeable. While driving straight it happens if I don't touch the wheel for a few seconds. Then I'll need to make a minor correction and it's stuck. I have to put some decent pressure on the wheel to make it unstuck, which causes an over-correction. If i steadily make corrections it doesn't stick. Same in a turn. If I am making a slow or wide turn, wheel stays in same position for a second, it doesn't just roll out of the turn easily. I have to force it to come out of the turn. Again once it's unstuck it feels fine. Leaving it in one position for more than a second or two initiates the stuck.

Mar 12, 2023

Car at around 3K miles. The steering at higher speeds >40mph started to stick and takes some force to steer. It is most noticeable when driving in a straight line and the steering wheel will require some force to turn but then will be more fluid. But then returning to a straight line causes the same sticky feeling. Because the steering sticks, it requires an overcorrection when trying to adjust directions.

Mar 3, 2023

Streering wheels when going straight on freeway speeds gets sticky so making minor adjustments tends to to be hard

Jan 29, 2023

This has started after approximately 5,000 miles on the vehicle. At highway speeds the steering wheel will feel sticky and/or jump when trying to apply small inputs. For example, after a few seconds of holding the steering wheel in a straight position or in a constant long radius turn, the steering wheel is resistant to movement and increased force is required to bring the steering back to center. This results in small over-corrections leading to a slight weaving while trying to stay in a lane.

Jan 11, 2023

I have noticed that the steering wheel seems to "stick" or feel "notchy" when making small adjustments from center (12 o clock) position. This is most noticeable when driving on a long, straight stretch of freeway requiring minor adjustments to keep the car centered. The steering will stick when attempting to making small corrections, requiring extra force to overcome resistance. After providing more force, the steering will suddenly give way, typically causing overcorrection in the opposite direction

Jan 4, 2023

While driving at highway speeds (45-75 mph) the steering will begin to stick. The steering wheel requires extra force to make an adjustment. After getting past the friction point, the steering is normal but will soon gain the friction point back. On highway ramps, the steering will hold the turn without any additional pressure and fails to return to the straight position. Added force required to get it back to straight.

Dec 21, 2022

I was driving on December 19, 2022 and noticed difficulty steering at cruising speeds (45mph). The steering became resistant to small movements. It did not move smoothly when I turned it to make minor adjustments, it required extra force to move from a still position. Once I applied enough force to turn, it turned freely. At low speeds such as turning in a parking lot, I did not notice any problems, but upon reaching approx 40mph, I did notice the problem. This makes the vehicle more difficult to operate in an unexpected manner and makes a collision more likely, thus putting the safety of myself, my passengers, and other drivers at risk. There were no warning lamps or messages. The only related symptom was that the CarPlay navigation display was not updating regularly during this drive. Normally this system works well, but on this day it was updating my position every 30 seconds or so. When I unplugged the USB cable between my iPhone and the vehicle, the steering issue disappeared.
