Headlights somehow may be taking on moisture. The clarity is down to almost nothing. Driving at night is unsafe! The RPM’s have never been smooth or consistent. There is almost a micro-revving effect. I’ve had all of the fluids and filters changed…… dealership thought it was a recall.

The contact owns a 2014 Acura MDX. The contact stated that while approaching the vehicle after the vehicle had been started, the contact noticed that the taillights were inoperable. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the taillights assemblies needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred approximately two months later. The contact received an email notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V259000 (Exterior Lighting, Interior Lighting), which the contact related to the failure; however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 99,000.

Recall (M49) Moisture may enter the tailgate lid lights, possibly causing a loss of the tailgate lid lights and the taillights. Acura dealership confirmed repair back in 2019. I am currently having the same issue with the loss of my taillight. I raised concern with Acura and they confirmed that they release me part number that they didn’t use for the initial repair, which leads me to believe this issue was never fixed. The dealership then told me that they would not be able to repair this issue unless I had an extended warranty. I am requesting a review as this is a major safety issue and a traffic citation concern on the same grounds that the M49 recall was initiated.

Back LEFT inner tail light assembly strip and RIGHT Outer LED strip tail light assembly damaged by water moisturizer getting inside of them.

The outside rear taillight was FULL of water. I discovered this when going to replace bulbs I thought were just burned out. In fact one of the bulbs was shattered I presume from the water reaching the hot light. The taillight is non functional and I will have to take it to be repaired/replaced. I should not have to pay for what is very clearly an manufacturer defect that compromises safe vehicle operations. Acura did a recall for the interior tail light for this same issue, but did not include the outer taillight. A simple google search shows this is not an isolated incident but rather a major problem.

THE DRIVER SIDE HEAD LIGHTS ARE BRIGHTER THAN THE PASSENGER SIDE HEAD LIGHTS. I GET BRIGHT LIGHTED ALL THE TIME. IT LOOKS LIKE MY BRIGHT LIGHTS ARE ON AND THEIR NOT. THE FROM AIR CONDITIONING / HEAT FAN WORKS OFF AND ON. THE BLOWER IS ACTING UP. THE BACK HEAT FAN ( BLOWER) WORKS ALL THE TIME. I HAVE TO CRACK THE FRONT WINDOWS AND FLY DOWN THE HIGHWAY TO GET THE FRONT FAN TO WORK.

TAIL AND STOP LIGHTS COLLECTING MOISTURE. POSSIBLY RESULT IN: A BLOWN FUSE, WHICH DISABLES THE FRONT AND REAR POSITION LIGHTS, REDUCES VEHICLE VISIBILITY AND INCREASES RISK OF A CRASH. IN OCTOBER OF 2018, BOTH MY RIGHT SIDE HATCH/LID TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY AND BODY TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY FILLED WITH WATER RENDERING THEM BOTH INOPERATIVE. DEALER REPLACE BOTH HATCH AND BODY TAIL LIGHT WHICH I PAID FOR OUT OF POCKET. DEALER SERVICE MANAGER REPORTED THAT BOTH LIGHT ASSEMBLIES HAD SCRATCHES WHICH ALLOWED WATER TO PENETRATE EVEN THOUGH NO SCRATCHES WERE EVIDENT. AFTER REPLACEMENT, I REQUESTED THAT THE ORIGINAL FAILED LIGHTS BE GIVEN BACK TO ME. AFTER INSPECTION THERE WERE NO SCRATCHES OR DEFECTS. THE GASKETS HOWEVER WERE LOOSE AND WORN. SUBSEQUENTLY, THE HATCH/LID TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY WAS COVERED BY RECALL DUE TO WATER PENETRATING INSIDE THE LENDS. ACURA DEALER AGAIN REPLACE/REPAIRED BOTH HATCH TAIL LIGHTS PER RECALL. THE BODY TAIL LIGHTS WERE NOT UNDER RECALL AND WERE NOT REPAIRED EVEN THOUGH ONE HAD TO BE REPLACE EARLIER DUE TO SAME WATER ISSUE.BODY TAIL LIGHTS/GASKET IS ALSO DEFECTIVE. GASKETS/LIGHTS NEED TO BE RECALLED AND REPLACED/REPAIRED.

FIRST, MANY NEW VEHICLES INSTALL HALOGEN HEAD LAMPS, SOME OF THEM ARE WHITE IN COLOR. THESE HEAD LAMPS ARE EXCEPTIONALLY BRIGHT. I LIVE IN CALIFORNIA WHERE THERE IS LAW RESTRICTING THE BRIGHTNESS OF THESE LAMPS. I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT SOME OF THESE HEAD LAMPS ARE OVERLY BRIGHT BECAUSE IT BLINDS MY EYES AT NIGHT. ONE MODEL IN PARTICULAR IS THE NEW 2013, 2014 PRIUS. I WONDER IF THEY PASS THE REQUIREMENT OF LAW OF ALL THE STATES. SECOND, MOST OF THE MODELS MANUFACTURED BY ACURA AND MERCEDES BENZ INSTALLED FROG LIGHTS AND BY DEFAULT, THE FROG IS TURNED ON WITHOUT THE HEAD LAMP. THIS VIOLATES LAW IN CALIFORNIA. I AM NOT SURE WHERE TO FILE COMPLAIN, BUT HOPE YOU CAN REDIRECT TO THE APPROPRIATE PARTY. THIS CONCERNS DRIVES SAFETY. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. *TR
