While driving on the highway this vehicle shifted into neutral and lost power. Once pulled to the side of the road, the vehicle was able to be turned off and re started. This happened to my teenage daughter without warning.

My vehicle is showing the exact same symptoms that the 2016-2018 MDX fuel pump recall is stating but my VIN number is not part of the vehicles being recalled. I reached out to Acura relations and unfortunately, they cannot provide authorization to repair my fuel pump even though my vehicle falls under the same years that this model is being recalled for. I went to an independent shop to try and understand what the problem with my vehicle is and I was told that the high pressure fuel pump seems to be failing and was asked why I have not taken the vehicle to the dealership for the fuel pump recall. Due to this issue I am unable to properly use my vehicle. If i step on the accelerator too hard, the vehicle gets engine misfires and immediately goes on limp mode.

“Emissions system problem” warning light has lit up on dashboard twice. This was checked and found to be a faulty code both times however, the second time it occurred, it correlated with the sway bars needing to be replaced.

We have a 2016 Acura MDX and it has automatically shifted to Neutral 3 times (twice while driving on the freeway and 1x yesterday while driving on the street at normal speeds) in the last 2 months. On the MDX dashboard, it will display "Emissions System Problem" and then display "Stop Driving When Safe. Transmission Problem. See Manual." However, the car will automatically shift to Neutral within seconds. My children's lives (7 y/o and 5 y/o) were placed in danger as a result of this system failure. I have contacted the Acura Honda Recall Specialists and Client Relations Representatives. The car is being diagnosed at Cerritos Acura dealership at the present time. A case number has been filed since our VIN shows no recall, despite it having recalls for other 2016 Acura MDXs.

Acura MDX 2016 SH-AWD with 113366 miles diagnosis according to warning lights. DTC test certification codes: P0301 Misfire No. 1 cylinder P0306 Misfire No. 6 cylinder P0300 Random Misfire P0420 Catalyst System efficiency below threshold B1 Recommendation was that the Catalytic converter be replaced. All these codes were identified under Honda's TSB 20-100 dated 2/2021 on Odyssey, Pilot and Ridgeline models where AH extended warranty to 10 years from date of purchase or 150K. These V6 engines are pretty close to that of the 2016 MDX. Is there a remote possibility that these DTC codes could exist in MDX V6 engines when an issue arises similar to those in the Honda vehicles? These DTC codes appeared 24 hours/37 miles after a routine oil service on 3/26/2024 at Advantage Acura of Naperville with a perfect inspection report. The malfunction occurred in the vicinity of McGrath Acura of Westmont on the following day of 3/27/2024. The concern is if any of the emission system components were damaged during the routine oil service. Advantage Acura have in the past installed brake pads backwards on my Acura TL 2010 for which I do have proof.

The auto engine idle stop on my 2016 Acura MDX has left me in precarious situations at stop signs and/or traffic lights at least twice before the recall notification I received in the mail a couple of weeks ago. The engine turned off as designed but then would not turn back on like it should without a delay. The worst incident was when my teenage Daughters were in the car with me! After receiving the recall notice recently and taking the vehicle into the dealership within days of the notification, my “software update fix” by the dealership (Napleton Acura in West Palm Beach) completely disabled my auto engine idle stop! After calling the service rep I dealt with later that day and telling him about it, I was told the software update made the “turn-off” feature more specific and mine didn’t meet the parameters! My engine was at normal operating temperature, my air conditioner was NOT on and I stopped at at least 12 lights on the way home with no engine stop. That was a week ago and still no engine idle stop has taken place! I’m a pilot and don’t appreciate being talked down to by a supposed “racing champion” named Zeke that feels the need to advertise his prior win on his service uniform! Not only that, but now my safety related “object approaching” notification for front driving and “rear warning” for close objects during parking/reversing are now non-existent! I paid extra for these safety related options and I’m not happy that they’ve been disabled because of the “software update!” How do I become part of the class action lawsuit against Acura/Honda?

On a multi-day road trip, the car had a temporary complete loss of power on two separate days. Both times this happened after several hours of driving at highway speeds on I-15 in California, outside temperatures were in the 90s. After a slight deceleration and then applying the accelerator again, there was a 'clunk' like sound possibly from the transmission, and then a complete loss of power. The first time I tried to pull over to the breakdown lane, and then regained power after about 2-3 seconds. The second time, we were in the middle of traffic and were not able to pull over, but again after 2-3 seconds, the power came back. The engine did not rev up when applying the accelerator and there were no dashboard lights. This appeared to be either a transmission, fuel delivery, or engine management/drive by wire issue. While we luckily did not get into an accident, we did slow down significantly on the highway, requiring other drivers around us to break, or change lanes. I have made an appointment with my independent mechanic, but the car has not been inspected yet and I am not able to forcibly reproduce the issue.

My mechanic replaced the battery on May 9th and could smell gas but I had just fueled the vehicle. Two days later is when it got worse while driving back home I pulled over and could smell gasoline inside the vehicle as if an open gas can was sitting in the passenger seat. I stopped using the vehicle and took it to my mechanic and he discovered a crack in the weld on the front fuel rail. This could have harmed my family, pets or myself if it had caught on fire. In 1 hour I used a quarter tank of gas because of the high pressure pushing the gas on to the engine. Vehicle taken to Anchorage Acura and the Acura mechanic confirmed what my mechanic found. There were no warning lights or indications of anything wrong until I could smell the gas.

WHILE DRIVING ON LOCAL ROAD ALL OF A SUDDEN THE 3 ERRORS CAME ON THE DASH BOARD TRANSMISSION SYSTEM PROBLEM, EMISSION SYSTEM PROBLEM, AND BLIND SPOT SYSTEM PROBLEM, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE TRANSMISSION DOESN'T SHIFT RIGHT AND GRINDING OF THE GEAR IS HEARD, CAR QUICKLY SLOW DOWN. AFTER STOPPING AND START UP AGAIN, ERRORS STILL THERE BUT TRANSMISSION COULD NOT SHIFT INTO HIGHER GEARS AND CAR TOPS OUT AT 30MPH. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN THE LAST FEW DAYS AND WE ARE NOW SCARED TO DRIVE THE CAR LOCAL ROADS, HIGHWAY WOULD BE BAD UNTIL WE GET IT FIXED AT THE DEALERSHIP. THIS IS POTENTIALLY A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION IF THE CAR LOSES POWER AT AN INTERSECTION.

PURCHASED A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED 2016 ACURA MDX SH-AWD W/ TECH A FEW WEEKS AGO & FROM DAY ONE THERE HAVE BEEN ISSUES WITH ACCELERATION OFF A COMPLETE STOP LIKE A STOP SIGN, STOP LIGHT, COMING OFF PARK OR UPON PUTTING IT INTO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT MOVE WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS DEPRESSED, WILL REV HIGH THROUGH FIRST, JUMP INTO 2 STILL REVVING HIGH BEFORE FINALLY MOVING WHEN IT HITS 3RD. IT IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE WHEN OTHER TRAFFIC IS ONCOMING AS YOU ARE EXPECTING TO "GO" & NOTHING HAPPENS WHEN PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL. THE DEALERSHIP INSPECTED THE VEHICLE UPON PURCHASE AT OUR REQUEST ON TWO OCCASIONS BUT TOLD US IT IS NORMAL & WILL ADJUST TO MY DRIVING STYLE. THIS IS NOT NORMAL.THEY SAID THEY UPDATED THE SOFTWARE BUT FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. BOTH TIMES IN START AND STOP TRAFFIC WHEN STOPPED THE CYLINDER DEACTIVATION ENGAGED, HOWEVER THEN THE POWER WENT OUT COMPLETELY WITHOUT WARNING, IT TOOK ABOUT 5-10 MIN THEN THE PUSH TO START WORKED AND THE CAR RESTARTED. AFTER THE FIRST STALL WE TOOK IT ACURA, HOWEVER THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. I AM WRITING THIS REPORT AFTER THE SECOND STALL TODAY.

AFTER PULLING OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND ON THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE PUT IN DRIVE. AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES OF REPEATEDLY TURNING OFF AND ON THE VEHICLE SHIFTED TO DRIVE AND WAS DRIVE ABLE. THIS COULD HAVE LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT IF THERE WERE VEHICLES BEHIND ME.

THE DEALER STATED THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN FAILURE WITH ACURA AND NO PERMANENT REMEDY WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE COULD RECUR IN 10 TO 10,000 MILES. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DAVID MCDAVID ACURA OF AUSTIN (13553 RESEARCH BLVD, AUSTIN, TX 78750). THE CONTACT INFORMED THE DEALER THAT SHE FELT UNSAFE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND WANTED TO TRADE IT IN FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADVISED THE DEALER TO ATTEMPT TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER AWAITING A NEW DIAGNOSIS AND POSSIBLE REPAIRS. UN INTENDED NON ACCELERATION. DUE TO SEVERE LAG, DELAY, AND SLUGGISH TRANSMISSION RESPONSE. ACURA HAS REPLACED MY TRANSMISSION UNDER WARRANTY AT 11,000 MILES AND DID NOT ADMIT FAULT AND SAY THERE WAS A PROBLEM. HERE'S MORE ON MY EXPERIENCE..IN MY 1 YEAR OF OWNERSHIP.. TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: 2016 ACURA MDX 13,000 MILES , PURCHASE NEW FROM SIERRA ACURA , ALHAMBRA, CA I AM WRITING TO REQUEST BUY BACK OF MY VEHICLE THIS CAR IS A LEMON. SINCE TAKING OWNERSHIP A YEAR AGO, MY 2016 MDX PURCHASED NEW HAS EXPERIENCED NOTHING BUT ONE PROBLEM AFTER PROBLEM. ACURA REPLACED TRANSMISSION A MONTH AGO BUT THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE. IS IT ENGINEERED AND DESIGNED TO PERFORM IN A NOT SAFE MANNER ? MANY TIMES I EXPERIENCE SHIFTING AND ACCELERATING HESITATION AND JERKY/JOLTING. MY FAMILY AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE OPERATING AND RIDING IN THIS VEHICLE. SEVERAL TIMES GAS PEDAL DEPRESSED AND VEHICLE LAGGED AT 20 MPH FOR MORE THAN 10 SECONDS BEFORE ACCELERATING. A FEW OF THE LATEST NEW AND ONGOING PROBLEMS ARE BELOW. DRIVER DOOR NOW APPEARS OFF SET AND AT DIFFERENT ANGLE PROTRUDING OUT NOW. APPEARS THAT THE DOOR IS NOT CLOSING PROPERLY AND THEREFORE NOT SEALED AT CLOSING. FURTHERMORE EVERY SINGLE WINDOW HAS EXPERIENCED FAULTY MECHANISMS WITH MOTORS, ACTUATORS, AND SEALS. WHEN CLOSING THE DOORS IT FEELS LIKE THE WINDOWS ARE LOOSE. THERE ARE ALSO SQUEAKS AND RATTLES EMINATING THROUGHOUT THE CABIN AREA. I SECURED AND COLLECTED ALL LOOSE ITEMS AND THE SOUND IS STILL THERE. AT ENGINE START UP EACH TIME, THERE IS A HIGH PITCH WHINING NOISE FOR A FEW SECONDS BEFORE ENGINE STARTS (PERHAPS SOMETHING ELSE FAULTY?) I HAVE VIDEO / SOUND DOCUMENTATION OF THIS WITH 2 SEPERATE RECORDING DATES . WITH REGARD TO THE NAVIGATION, MULTIMEDIA UNIT, IT HAS BEEN LAGGING, SLOW (ER) TO FUNCTION, AND SEVERE DELAY IN BACKUP CAMERA ACTUATING, AND AUDIO FUNCTIONS DELAY IN RESPONSE SOMETIMES.

ENGINE DOES NOT START AND ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS COME UP ON DASHBOARD. AFTER A FEW SECONDS, EACH OF THE SYSTEM COMES UP AS FAILED. DASHBOARD SHOWS AS ACC FAILED, LANE WARNING FAILED, EMISSION FAILED, ENGINE CHECK FAILED. THIS IS A SECOND FAILURE IN LAST 45 DAYS. FIRST FAILED ON NOV 20 AND CAR WAS IN SERVICE TILL DEC 21. AGAIN THE ENGINE FAILED ON JAN 02, NOT ALLOWING TO START AT ALL.

OWNED 2016 MDX FOR LESS THAN A WEEK- VEHICLE JOLTS FORWARD-GIVES ITSELF EXTRA GAS EVEN WHEN YOUR FOOT IS ON THE BRAKE! TRANSMISSION NOT SMOOTH. BEEN IN FOR SERVICE OVER 40 DAYS NOW (TOTAL). HESITATES SOMETIMES- WAS STUCK AT 15 MPH FOR A FEW MINUTES. RADIO GOES UNRESPONSIVE- NO BUTTONS WORK GETS STUCK AT STATION/VOL CAN'T TURN OFF EITHER. NAVIGATION DIED- TURNED OFF, THEN FLICKERED(WAS REPLACED) . SPEAKERS WENT FLAT- AMPLIFIER DIED (WAS REPLACED). THE ENGINE IDLE FEATURE DOESN'T WORK RIGHT. IT DOESN'T KEEP MY SAMSUNG PHONE CHARGED. I'VE TRIED MULTIPLE CORDS INCLUDING THE ORIGINAL ONE THAT CAME WITH PHONE. ACURALINK DOESN'T ALWAYS WORK EITHER. I SENT A DESTINATION BUT IT DOESN'T SHOW UP FOR A FEW HOURS OR DAYS! IT TWEETS NOW. THE WINDOW NOW SQUEAKS (NO, IT IS NOT TINTED OR ANYTHING). IT MAKES A STRANGE DRIPPING NOISE WHEN YOU TURN IT OFF. IT EATS GAS! I FILL IT UP AND IT'S GONE IN A BLINK..NOT THE APPROPRIATE MILES. IT BEEPS LOUDLY AND BLINKS THAT THERE IS AN OBJECT APPROACHING FOR NO REASON- NO ONE/THING THERE- NOTHING MOVING. IT HAS A MIND OF IT'S OWN. I'VE BEEN A LOYAL HONDA/ACURA OWNER FOR OVER 18 YEARS AND THEY HAVE NOT HELPED. WHEN THEY REPLACED THE NAVI THEY SAID THEY'D GIVE ME $500 FOR MY TROUBLE- BUT DIDN'T ANYWAY. THEY SAY THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT-- BUT JUST MONDAY SAID IT NEEDS A NEW FUEL PUMP BUT IS "SO NEW" THEY DON'T HAVE ONE SO IT HAD TO BE ORDERED. DISGRACEFUL. I ASKED FOR IT TO BE REPLACED- WAS DENIED. ACURA CLIENT REP SAYS- "AT THIS TIME THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO" I HAVE A SPINAL CONDITION AND THE JOLTING HURTS ME GREATLY. SOMEDAYS I CAN'T DRIVE MY BRAND NEW VEHICLE BC I CANT TAKE THE PAIN. THEY DON'T CARE. THEY DON'T STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT EITHER. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED IN VEHICLE AND COMPANY
