i was in a pretty bad car accident, the car was totaled but the air bags didn’t deploy and i slammed my head on my steering wheel, i got side swiped and the driver door wasn’t able to be opened i had to kick it open and the front of the car hit a concrete pole going roughly 35 mph or more.
I HAVE CALLED MY DEALERSHIP AND REACHED OUT TO THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURER ON THEIR WEBSITE NUMEROUS TIMES OVER A 10 YEAR PERIOD (AT THE VERY LEAST SINCE AUDI ANNOUNCED AGREED TO THE REPAIRS). I KEEP ON RECEIVING NOTICE POSTCARDS FROM AUDI TO HAVE THIS SCHEDULED WITH MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP. WHEN I CALL THEY KEEP TELLING ME TO BE PATIENT, THEY WILL CALL ME WHEN ONE COMES IN. I HAVE STARTED TO RECEIVE POSTCARDS FROM ANOTHER DEALER TO SCHEDULE THE REPAIR...ONLY THIS DEALER IS ACROSS THE COUNTRY IN CALIFORNIA! IT DOES NOT SEEM TO ME WHEN I CONTACT AUDI OF AMERICA THEY DON'T REALLY CARE. I ONLY HAVE APPROXIMATELY 70,000 MILES ON THE CAR BECAUSE I DON'T DRIVE IT WITH MY FAMILY ABOARD(BECAUSE OF THE FACTORY INSTALLED TAKATA FRONT PASSENGER ANTI PERSONNEL DEVICE). THE ONLY HELP FROM AUDI WAS IN THE FROM OF A RECOMMENDATION "DO NOT" USE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. TO RECAP 12 YEAR OLD VEHICLE, I BELIEVE I LIVE IN ZONE2, NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO BOTH AUDI OF AMERICA AND MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP, RECALL NOTICES FROM CALIFORNIA! *****UPDATE: AS I WAS ABOUT TO FILE THIS COMPLAINT I DECIDED TO CALL BENZEL BUSCH AUDI TO CHECK. AND MIRACULOUSLY THEY HAVE ONE. I WAS TOLD BY AUDI OF AMERICA THROUGH CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE GREG M. ON MAY 16, 2019, THAT HE SPOKE TO KATHERINE AT SERVICE AND THAT THEY ARE AWAITING PARTS AND THAT SHE ASSURED HIM THAT I WAS A PRIORITY AND ONCE THE PART ARRIVES THEY WILL BE REACHING OUT TO ME DIRECTLY. IN THE ALMOST A YEAR OF WAITING, NO ONE HAS CONTACTED ME, NOT AOA OR LOCAL DEALER. I CALLED HER TODAY JAN. 8, 2020 AND SCHEDULED A REPAIR ON JAN.13. IT WOULD SEEM THAT I AM NOT A PRIORITY.

THIS WAS OVER A MONTH AGO. DEALER STATED THEY WOULD CALL WHEN THE KIT ARRIVED AND NOTIFY ME. MEANWHILE I GET POSTCARD "RECALL CAMPAIGN REMINDERS' FROM AUDI. THE POSTCARD ADVISES TO CALL THE AUDI CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER BUT THE VOICE MESSAGE ADVISES 'NO ONE IS AVAILABLE'.

I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER, THE VEHICLE WAS UNTIL 2013 IN THE U.S., AND I MOVED IT TEMPORARILY TO GERMANY FOR MY ASSIGNMENT HERE. I AM PLANNING TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK HOME TO THE U.S. UPON MY RETURN. I RECEIVED THE RECALL TO MY U.S. ADDRESS AND ASKED AUDI TO DO THE RECOMMENDED REPAIR IN GERMANY, WHERE THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY LOCATED. BUT THEY REFUSE TO DO SO IN GERMANY. TAKATA RECALL - I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET MY PASSENGER AIRBAG REPLACED SINCE THE RECALL WAS ISSUED. I HAVE BEEN CALLING MY LOCAL AUDI DEALERSHIP IN CHANTILLY, VA EVERY MONTH OR SO TO CHECK IF THE PART IS AVAILABLE, ALWAYS GET THE SAME ANSWER "SOMEONE WILL CALL YOU BACK" (THEY NEVER DO). I UNDERSTAND THAT TAKATA WENT OUT OF BUSINESS BUT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED BY ANOTHER MANUFACTURER. MY CAR AT THIS MOMENT IS WORTHLESS, I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SELL IT WITH AN OPEN RECALL THAT HAS NO REMEDY AT THIS MOMENT, NOR CAN I HAVE ANY PASSENGER SAFELY SIT NEXT TO ME. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH AUDI FOR HANDLING THIS SO POORLY AND FOR NOT HAVING A SOLUTION. TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY OR DEATH, THE DEADLY DEFECT HAS ONLY BEEN ACKNOWLEDGED IN THE LAST 18 MONTHS AND THERE HAS BEEN NO REMEDY DURING THIS TIME, THE IDEA THAT I HAVE TO BE DEAD OR PERMANENTLY MAIMED, TO QUALIFY FOR LITIGATION/COMPENSATION, IS WHAT MAKE THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION DEADLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
TAKATA RECALL: THIS COMPLAINT IS IN REGARD TO PASSENGER AIRBAG ONLY, WHAT ABOUT THE DRIVER. I CONTACTED AUDI USA, 800-822-2834 AND CONFIRMED WITH THE REP ( VINCE) THAT THERE IS NO GUARANTEE AVAILABLE REGARDING THE DRIVER AIRBAG NOT AFFECTED BY THE RECALL. AUDI USA IS NOT ABLE/WILLING TO PROVIDE A LETTER INDICATING THAT THERE IS NO NEED TO BE CONCERNED RE; DRIVER AIR BAG AND MORE IMPORTANTLY , THAT IT IS SAFE.. I FIND THIS TO BE VERY INAPPROPRIATE, I LIVE IN MIAMI, FL. A HIGHLY HUMID AND HOT STATE WHICH TAKATA HAS REPORTED AIRBAG INFLATOR COULD POTENTIALLY RUPTURE DUE TO PROPELLANT DEGRADATION OCCURRING AFTER LONG-TERM EXPOSURE TO ABSOLUTE HIGH HUMIDITY AND TEMPERATURE CYCLING. I KNOW FOR A FACT CAN BE DEADLY IF AIRBAG DEPLOYS. I WAS INFORMED BY THE AUDI/ REP THAT THE ONLY WAY TO BE SURE IS TO " TAKE THE CAR APART TO CONFIRM MANUFACTURER OF AIRBAG." THIS IS HIGHLY UNACCEPTABLE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY VEHICLE AND SHOULD NOT HAVE TO DENY A FAMILY/FRIEND TRANSPORTATION ( PASSENGER ) BECAUSE I HAVE A RECALLED AIRBAG WITH A "REPAIR SOLUTION PENDING." IN ADDITION, I AM MAKING MY CAR PAYMENTS TOWARDS A CAR THAT I NOW FEEL UNSAFE, AND CANNOT ALLOW A PASSENGER TO ACCOMPANY ME. I AM REQUESTING A PROMPT ANSWER TO MY COMPLAINT IN HOPES THAT WE CAN COME TO AN AGREEMENT AND SOLUTION TOWARDS THIS PROBLEM.
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNED A 2008 AUDI A4. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS NOT ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE IN TIME TO AVOID A COLLISION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND MINOR INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN FROM THE SCENE AND WAS LATER DEEMED DESTROYED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V079000 (AIR BAGS) AFTER THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.

I ACCIDENTALLY DROVE OVER THE RUMBLE STRIP ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. THE RIGHT REAR TIRE BLEW AND THE CAR FLIPPED OVER SIX TIMES AND CHANGED DIRECTION. EVERY SIDE AIR BAG INFLATED EXCEPTED FOR MY SIDE, THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG. THE FRONT AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY EITHER. MY A4 WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED EXCEPT FOR WHERE I WAS SITTING. WHEN THE FIRST RESPONDERS CAME THEY DID NOT EXPECT FOR ME TO BE ALIVE AND THE ACCIDENT WAS CLASSIFIED AS A LEVEL 2 TRAUMA. I HIT MY HEAD ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW AND SUFFERED A MAJOR CONCUSSION WITH A HEMATOMA. I ALSO HAD MAJOR FACIAL LACERATIONS, A BROKEN NOSE, BROKEN RIBS, AND A SEVERE BONE BRUISE ON MY KNEE. AUDI SENT AN INSPECTOR TO THE CAR AFTER THE ACCIDENT AND HIS CONCLUSION WAS THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH IMPACT ON THE SIDE OF THE CAR EVEN THOUGH THE CAR FLIPPED SIX TIMES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS TO DEPLOY MY SIDE AIR BAG. EVERY OTHER SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG DEPLOYED. THE ONLY OTHER PASSENGERS IN THE CAR WERE MY TWO LABRADORS. NO OTHER ADULTS WERE IN THE CAR. THE TWO LABRADORS EACH WEIGHED LESS THAN 65 POUNDS AND I WEIGH 135 POUNDS. AUDI HAS GIVEN ME A FREE MAINTENANCE PACKAGE FOR MY NEXT AUDI. THANK YOU FOR LOOKING INTO THIS MATTER.
