This Problem Across All Years
When backing up the car the cameras don't turn on and often times the collision sensors go off randomly. On the highway the emergency brakes go off randomly when a car passes by on the right-hand side of the vehicle.

On December 16, 2022, the alternator on the vehicle failed, which prevented the battery from charging. Luckily, I had just parked the car when all the electronics shut off - otherwise I would have been driving on a busy street with the potential for an accident. The vehicle was towed that day to White Allen European Auto Group in Dayton and is still there and available for inspection. Today is Feb. 6, 2023, and they are still unable to get the required alternator parts and we don't have an ETA. To my knowledge the vehicle has only been assessed by their technician, not anyone else. There were electrical issues prior to the failure. I took the vehicle to White Allen on Nov. 22 due to warning lights for Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keeping Assist turning on and off, as well as issues with the engine shutting off at traffic lights and being unable to get the car to move without turning it completely off and back on again. When I took it to the dealership, they performed many vehicle recalls and repairs including multiple software updates, reworking the transmission wiring harness, servicing the start/stop system, airbag inspection, battery load, control module update, MMI software update, etc. I picked up the vehicle on November 30, 2022. On December 5, 2022, I had to take it back to White Allen because the bottom display screen was not functioning properly. (When starting the car, the top half of that screen was scrambled and the bottom half was dark. After driving for a while, the screen would begin functioning properly). They diagnosed it as a hardware issue with the top screen that controls the lower screen. I was told they would replace the top screen, and the parts should be available by December 29. I asked if the car is safe to drive, and they said I could continue driving it as the lower screen doesn't control anything that might be a safety issue. On December 16, the car stopped working and I had it towed back to the dealership.

Electrical system malfunction caused by a faulty generator which was confirmed by Audi Connection (servicing dealership) in Cincinnati, Ohio.

I was driving on the interstate when the vehicle gave a warning saying "electrical system malfunction, contact dealership". I went to the dealership as I was within a couple of miles and they said it could be many things and they would need to evaluate it the following week. I left with the car and attempted to drive it back the following week on the scheduled appointment. The vehicle did not make it back to the dealership. While driving on the interstate back to the dealership, a message saying, "Electrical system failure, safely exit roadway" came on. I was able to exit off the interstate immediately into a parking lot. While I was trying to exit, multiple warning lights came on saying the crash sensors were inoperable, transmission was inoperable, camera system was inoperable, and the car started shaking as if the engine was loose under the hood and it shut off and would not restart. This took less than about 90 seconds as I was at an exit and already in the right lane on the interstate. Audi Care came and towed the vehicle and the dealer says the alternator has gone bad and it is on backorder. This is exceptionally dangerous because if I were not at an exit and in heavy traffic, this could have happened while I was in the middle of the interstate and the vehicle lost all power. I've since read Audi forum and found this exact scenario has happened to many drivers who were not as lucky to be near an exit or under warranty. Audi should recall the vehicle because it puts the driver in a very dangerous situation. I was stuck in an empty parking lot for several hours waiting for a tow but I consider myself lucky after reading the experience of other drivers. My car has been in the shop for three weeks now and I'm not sure when they will have it fixed. My warranty expires in the next few months so I may end up having to pay for repairs later because my warranty expired while the car sits at the dealer and I won't be able to test if it has been resolved.

AUGUST 25, 2020 TRAVELING WB ON I-90 [MASS TURNPIKE] PASSING AND 18 WHEEL TRACTOR TRAILER WITH AN UNMARKED WHITE BOX TRAILER. TRUCK 'WEAVED' TO THE LEFT INTO MY DRIVING LANE AS I WAS OVERTAKING IT. I SWERVED TO THE LEFT TO AVOID CONTACT OF MY 2019 AUDI A6 PREMIUM PLUS AT ABOUT THE A PILLAR AND THE REAR WHEEL AREA OF THE BOX TRAILER. IN MY EVASIVE ACTION THE CAR'S LANE KEEPING ASSISTANT ACTIVATED AS I WAS ABOUT TO CROSS THE LINES ON MY LEFT SIDE TO AVOID THE TRUCK, THE CAR TOOK CONTROL OF THE STEERING AND AGGRESSIVELY STEERING THE CAR BACK AT THE TRACTOR TRAILER. I BRAKED THE CAR AS HARD I COULD TO AVOID COLLISION WITH THE BOX TRAILER. NONE OF THE COLLISION WARNING SYSTEM ACTIVATED AND THE CAR'S SENSORS AND CAMERAS DID NOT RECOGNIZE THAT I WAS TRYING TO AVOID A HIGH SPEED COLLISION WITH THE TRACTOR TRAILER. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP [AUDI ALBANY, LATHAM NY] AFTER RETURN FROM MY TRIP TO HAVE SAFETY SYSTEMS CHECKED. NO FAULT CODES WERE DETECTED.
