The car caught fire and burnt to to the frame. The message that came on the dash board before it caught fire was camera. I told Audi and they disregard all of that. They told me they were going to check or do investigation and the only thing I was told after looking for answer was this! These people know my insurance was state minimum so everyone put aside our safety concerned… Thank you for your continued patience while allowing Volkswagen Group of America the opportunity to review the subject Audi Q7 bearing the Vehicle Identification Number, [XXX] . Inspection of the subject Audi Q7 was conducted on September 6, 2023 at Mac’s Towing in Dania Beach, FL. Our investigation found no sign or suggestion of any manufacturer defect or shortcoming present with the vehicle. While the root cause is unknown, we would see the damages as remaining an insurance matter in light of no sign or suggestion of any manufacturer defect or shortcoming being found. Should your insurance company believe that Volkswagen Group of America is responsible for any damages, they will contact us to subrogate the claim. My vehicle is experiencing the same issues as described in NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V642000, but my vin number isn't listed in the vehicles affected even thought the year make and model agree to the recall. Should the dealer be willing to correct this issue since it's a known safety hazard?

Front left and right marker lights show up as defective on the dashboard, intermittently, but the lights are working. Have seen on different forums that this is not uncommon with this vehicle. Many complaints. Tried working with Audi/USA and have followed their advice with needing a dealership assessments. I have done this on two occasions, but they said that they will not be responsible, but that the dealership will offer a labor discount of 10%. These quotes are over $7000 to replace the lights and modules (that are working), if you don’t want to keep listening to the dinging warning bells. And it forces the customer to fix it because you will never be able to sell the car even though the lights are working. Think at least Audi should pay for the parts on all complaints. There is such a term as “good will” and they should broaden the recall on this item. My vehicle had a recall on this that the dealership repaired before I even purchased the vehicle which was NEW. Audi informed them when it was on the lot, but they say it was for the same thing but they just had to do an update on it? How did they know that when the car only had maybe 10 miles on it when we took delivery. Hopefully, someone in your department has some clout and back Audi up against the wall and take responsibility. Thank you [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

This issue closely resembles Audi recall campaign 97CB (NHTSA campaign ID 16V642000), with details available at [XXX] . In my case, the marker light itself is functioning properly, but the vehicle is displaying a false error message: "Front Right Side Marker Light Defective." This poses safety risks because the erroneous warning distracts drivers from the road and could lead to the system failing to alert the driver of an actual side marker light issue in the future. Many owners of the same model and year are disabling their side marker lights entirely to avoid the error, as evidenced in discussions such as those on [XXX] . Repairing this issue typically requires replacing the entire headlight assembly, with costs ranging from $2,400 to $5,300, making it prohibitively expensive for many. Although Audi initiated a recall (97CB) for a similar issue, it was limited to a specific subset of vehicles, and the widespread nature of this problem in other vehicles outside the recall’s VIN range suggests a broader defect. Given these safety risks, high repair costs, and the frequency of the issue, I urge the NHTSA to investigate whether this problem warrants a broader recall or corrective actions by the manufacturer. "Front left side market light defective" - When the vehicle turns on and the lights activate the side marker lights do not illuminate. There was a recall for this model and year but doesn't include my VIN#. This is happening to MANY 2017 Q7 models. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

The computer keeps showing that we have a malfunction in the side marker lights. They still work but we get the notice daily. Have taken it to the the dealer and they state that there is a recall but our vin number is not in the listing. There repair cost is over $4000. It's the same problem, my vehicle is in the 2017 Q7 range. Our number needs to be added to the recall of the same problem.

WE WERE DRIVING THE CAR AND ALL OF A SUDDEN A ERROR CAME THAT SAID "FRONT RIGHT SIDE MARKER LIGHT DEFECTIVE" MY LIGHTS ARE WORKING PERFECTLY FINE.THERE IS NO ISSUE WITH THE LIGHTS AT ALL. THIS IS A FALSE SENSOR ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED AND RECALLED.

Error warning "front right side marker defective" is displayed. Other 2017 Q7s are included on the recall list for this issue (recall #16V642000) but our VIN number is not included.

System malfunction regarding the "right side marker light being defective. There was a NHTSA recall campaign #16v642000 that covered some but not all of the Audi Q7 vehicles. The recall should include ALL Q7 vehicles.

The left front marker light is not working and a warning shows up on the dashboard. It's a safety issue as the vehicle may be less visible at night, increasing the risk of a crash. I took my vehicle to an Audi dealership. The person helping me knew immediately what the issue was as he has seen it many times. When I looked up the issue online, I saw many other Audi owners (not only Q7 either) have the same issue of a side maker light not illuminating. I also saw that there was a recall for side marker lights, however, it seems my VIN was not included in the recall. Audi should be responsible for fixing this known issue that occurs in many of its cars. The dealership told me it would be $5K-$6K to replace the small light bulb! Truly outrageous!

Apr 26, 2024

there is side marker lights issue. it happened 2 years ago in my case, both cases left side. .Audi has previously address this recall, but did not include my VIN, and it states the SAME issue. I found that old model has same issue with recall. I searched audi owner web site, and saw there were so many owner had same problem. however, audi did not declare 2017 Q7.

Side marker light warning is illuminated even though light is working. Warning comes on when the lights come on.

Feb 21, 2024

You have a safety recall #16V-642 for this model and the dealer did not put my vin# in the recall but yet my vehicle is saying the the left and right side marker lights are defective and the dealer will not correct it, instead they are trying to make me pay to replace the entire light harness for both head light assembly for $4,000, my next stop is with a class action law suit to get this taken up. I am wondering how many people with these cars have paid to replace their lights when apparently it’s just a software update but you cannot get the dealers to do it because in their computers Audi did not enter all the vin numbers affected by this recall. I am asking for your help in this situation since you have the recall.

I was driving on the freeway at 60 MPH when pushing on the gas pedal, the Audi Q7 2017 started to de-accelerate from 60 - 30 and then went lower. The gas pedal then locked while still on a lane on the freeway and luckily I was able to quickly move to the shoulder of the freeway. From there my car proceeded to not start and kept flashing low battery, telling me to put it into drive. I could not put it into drive to start the car. There were NO WARNINGS as the car lost speed on the freeway and a mechanic has determined it is the fuel pump. This was a very scary incident as my two young children and dog were in the car and if I hadn't been able to move to the side quickly, we would have been stopped in the middle of a busy city freeway. Additionally, it took a tow truck two hours to reach us. I keep my car well maintained with service.

I purchased a used 2017 Audi Q7 Premium on 11/16/2023 from a Volkswagen. Since it showed the message "Brake pads: wear limit reached. You can continue driving. Please contact Service", the agreed to repair it. I didn't receive my vehicle until 2 weeks later. They said that the work was done but after driving it for a couple of days the message is still showing. After driving it off the lot, minutes later I get a message "Front left side marker light defective. See owner's manual". After examining the side markers it doesn't look the neither side is out and there is no way showing on how to clear the message. I haven't taken it to an Audi dealership as of yet. But worried on if I made the right purchase.

When driving into a dimly lit area the car rings and displays the message front left side marker defective. The warning stays on for some time and then goes away before returning again. This continued for a few weeks. The car then experienced a full electrical system malfunction, doors unlocking and locking randomly while driving before dinging repeatedly with multiple warnings displayed in the dash and then stalled in the middle of the road. The vehicle would not shift into park. Multiple warnings continued to ding and flash in the dash. After being turned off for 20 minutes the car was able to be started shifted into Drive and driven with no warnings displayed. The car was taken to the dealership for diagnostics which were performed, but with no electrical system malfunction displayed. The left side marker warning was still on, but the dealer said there was no fix for this. The following month the car was taken for 60,000 mile service. At this time the dealer advised the fix for left side market was replacing the entire headlamp fixture. The service was declined. When the vehicle left the dealer the cruise control was on and would not turn off. After turning off the car and turning it back on the cruise control was off. After driving a short distance the speed control warning dinged and displayed and the cruise control was back on. The orange engine light was also displayed although there was no written warning for this.

I have a 2017 Audi Q7. There is a recall for the problem I am having but my VIN is not included and Audi cannot do the repair unless my VIN is included. The recall is 97CB. When my auto lights option is turned on, at completely random times, I get warning light that states: FRONT LEFT SIDE MARKER LIGHT DEFECTIVE SEE OWNERS MANUAL. The lights are functional and working (as verified by dealer in 2019) but there is some software glitch and Audi can't fix it because my VIN isn't part of the recall. It is startling when the sensor alert goes off. How do I get my vin added to recall 97CB? Thank you

Hello. Campaign Number 16V642000 needs to be expanded to include the full range of VINs manufactured for all the 2017 Audi Q7 model year(s). This vehicle reports a side marker light malfunction, but the VIN is not included in the Audi recall. There are numerous complaints on the NHTSA website itself, and even more across various Internet forums to warrant NHTSA investigation. The continued delay by NHTSA not to investigate the need to expand the range of VINs covered under this recall, allows a safety issue to continue to go uncorrected by the manufacturer and therefore unnecessarily and negligently increases the risk of crash for countless motorists.

SOS module does not seem to work very well. This has been an issue on plenty of Audi cars and no recall has been made. While the car can operate the module goes off while driving causing some drivers to no focus on the road, they are distracted by the noise it make, the alerts that pop up. And it is not just one alert, it goes off at random, so perhaps every few seconds. And if the driver does crash how can Audi insure that the system is working properly. Currently I reached out to a Audi Dear ship and they informed me that they are aware of the issue and that there was a backorder on the part (which means this is happing way to often) and that the repair would cost around $2400-$2500.

Car doors lock and will not unlock when key is inside or outside the vehicle. This has occurred two times. Once when one key fob was inside the car and the other outside and a second time, while only one key fob was outside the vehicle but the vehicle was running. Subsequently, my infant toddlers we locked in the car with no way to unlock the vehicle. It was 80+ degrees. This is a very serious safety issue that should never occur.

WHILE DRIVING DOWN A LOCAL CITY STREET, THE CAR BEGAN TO LOSE POWER, FLASHED A BUNCH OF ERROR CODES AND THEN LOST POWER WITHIN A FEW SECONDS. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED WHEN THIS HAPPENED SO THE CAR COULD NOT SAFELY BE STEERED OFF THE ROAD. THEY DID INITIALLY REPLACE THE BATTERY THINKING THAT THAT WAS THE CAUSE BUT IT HAPPENED SHORTLY AFTER LEAVING THE MECHANIC SO IT WE TOOK AT BACK WHICH IS WHEN WE WERE TOLD THAT A SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS NEEDED BUT THAT ONLY THE DEALERSHIP CAN DO THIS. THE CAR IS NOW SITTING AT THE DEALERSHIP BUT THAT ARE NOW TELLING US THAT WE MUST BUY THEIR BATTERY OTHERWISE THEY CAN'T WORK ON IT.

FRONT RIGHT SIDE MARKET DEFECTIVE LIGHT AND ALL LIGHTS SEEM TO WORK. THIS SEEMS TO BE A CONSISTENT PROBLEM ON AUDI FORMS AND COMPLAINTS. THIS SHOULD NOT BE A OWNERS ISSUE AS DEALERSHIPS ARE CLAIMING TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE LIGHT FOR $6,000 WHICH IS LUDICROUS JUST FOR A DEFECTIVE SIDE MARKER LIGHT. I DON'T BELIEVE THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM FROM THE LAST RECALL OF SIDE MARKER LIGHT CONTROLS. THIS IS A MAJOR ROAD HAZARD.

THERE'S MAJOR PROBLEMS OVERALL WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM THIS CAR. THE PARTICULAR SAFETY ISSUE I'VE HAD REQUIRING MORE THAN THREE SERVICES HAVE BEEN WITH THE FUNCTIONALITY OR LACK THEREOF OF THE WINDOWS, PARTICULARLY THE ONES IN THE FRONT. THE AUTO OPEN AND CLOSE FUNCTION ON THE CLICKER INTERMITTENTLY WORKS. SOMETIMES IT JUST STOPS WORKING AND FUNCTIONING AND YOU HAVE TO HOLD IT ALL THE WAY DOWN OR HOLD IT ALL THE WAY UP UNTIL IT OPENS OR CLOSES. THE SAFETY ISSUE HAS TO DO WITH WHEN THE AUTO FUNCTION DOES WORK AND YOU CLOSE THE WINDOW, IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THERE'S ANY OBSTRUCTIONS IN THE WAY OR AN ARM, IT WILL SHUT ALL THE WAY AND NOT PULL BACK OR STOP. THIS HAPPENED TO ME ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE ON TWO OCCASIONS AND MY ARM WAS CRUSHED AND I HAD TO MANUALLY PULL IT DOWN. LUCKILY IT WAS NOT TOO BAD, BUT IT WAS PAINFUL. IF IT WAS MY KIDS ARM, I WOULD BE LIVID. EVERY TIME I TOOK IT INTO SERVICE, THERE WAS SUPPOSEDLY ANOTHER/DIFFERENT PROBLEM THAT HAD TO DO WITH THE WINDOW MALFUNCTION WHICH THEY SUPPOSEDLY FIXED DURING THE SERVICE. THE LAST TIME I WENT IN THEY KEPT THE CAR FOR 2 OR 3 DAYS AND SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ISSUES. I REFUSE TO TAKE IT BACK AND GOT THE MANAGER INVOLVED. THE MANAGER KEPT THE CAR AND PER HIS STATEMENT, NOT MINE, NEARLY FULLY DISASSEMBLED THE CAR FOR A WEEK TO TRY GETTING TO THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM. THEY ENDED UP FINDING A FEW ISSUES SPECIFICALLY A BLOWN ELECTRICAL FUSE THAT DIRECTLY HAD TO DO WITH THE WINDOWS. AT THE END, THEY FIX WHATEVER THEY COULD FIND, BUT THEY COULD NOT FIND THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM AS WAS POINT BLANK STATED TO ME BY THE MANAGER AND HE WAS SORRY HE COULDN'T FIND THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM THAT CAUSED THE BURN OF THE FUSE BECAUSE AS HE SAID THEY DON'T JUST BURN OUT FOR NO REASON. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY CONCERN AND ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE ATTENDED TO ASAP. ISSUE OCCURS WHEN DRIVING IN THE CITY AND WHEN STATIONARY.

AUTOMATIC REAR DOOR LIFTS OPEN BY ITSELF INTERMITTENTLY WHILE THE VEHICLE IS PARKED AND LOCKED. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MCKENNA AUDI IN NORWALK (1/22/19). TECHNICIANS COULD NOT FIND FAULT. CANNOT REPAIR IF NOT BROKEN OR SHOWING FAULT. WE STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM, IT HAPPENED THREE DIFFERENT TIMES, TWICE AT HOME INSIDE THE GARAGE AND ONCE AT A RESTAURANT PARKING LOT. REMOTES WERE NOT USED OR PRESS ACCIDENTLY TO ACTIVATE THE REAR DOOR OPENER. THE LAST TIME THE REAR DOOR OPEN BY ITSELF, I TRIED TO USE THE REMOTE TO CLOSE IT, BUT THE DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE AND MADE A LATCHING NOISE, LIKE IT WAS TRYING TO LOCK THE DOOR. I WAS ABLE TO CLOSE THE DOOR MANUALLY, AFTER IT CLOSED, THE REMOTE WORKED AND I WAS ABLE TO OPENED AND CLOSED THE REAR DOOR AUTOMATICALLY.
