I AM REACHING OUT TO YOU AFTER OUR ATTEMPTS TO REACH A SATISFACTORY RESOLUTION TO OUR 2000 AUDI TT CONCERNS HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. I WILL SUMMARIZE OUR NEEDS/CONCERNS FOR YOU. WE PURCHASED OUR NEW 2000 AUDI TT IN 2000. WE HAVE HAD ALL REGULAR SERVICE AND REPAIRS DONE AT AN AUDI AUTHORIZED DEALER IN NORTH SCOTTSDALE, AZ AND BETWEEN 2005-2009, WHILE LIVING/WORKING FOR A SHORT-TERM IN SAN JOSE, CA. WE PUT MINIMAL MILES ON THIS VEHICLE AS A SECOND AUTOMOBILE. OUR CURRENT MILEAGE IS 82,000 MILES. IN 2005, AT 53,813 MILES, WE HAD REGULAR SERVICE PERFORMED AT STEVENS CREEK AUDI, IN SAN JOSE, CA. DURING THAT VISIT, WE STATED CONCERN OVER THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PANEL'S WARNING OF A PROBLEM WITH OUR HEADLIGHTS, LOW BEAMS OR PARKING LIGHTS. THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE RUNNING LIGHT BULBS BUT THE PROBLEM WITH THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PANEL CONTINUED AND HAS BECOME INCREASINGLY WORSE WITH MORE FAILURES TO THIS DATE, SUCH AS THE GAS GAUGE DOES NOT OPERATE, THE DIGITAL READOUT IS DIFFICULT TO READ, ETC. WHEN WE INVESTIGATED THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CONCERN WITH OUR TECHNICIAN RECENTLY IN SCOTTSDALE, WE LEARNED, BY LOOKING ONLINE, OF THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AND AUDI'S FREE REPAIR OFFER (SEE INFORMATION BELOW). WE HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF THIS IN 2008 ' OTHERWISE, WE WOULD HAVE HAD THE REPAIR DONE IN THE TIMEFRAME GIVEN. WE HAVE ASKED OUR DEALER TO EXTEND THIS FREE REPAIR TO US IN LIGHT OF THE ABOVE, ESPECIALLY SINCE WE WERE EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PANEL BEFORE AND DURING THIS TIME PERIOD NOTED ABOVE. WE HAVE NOT BEING ABLE TO GET THIS RESOLVED AND SO WE ARE HOPING THAT YOU WILL, AT YOUR CORPORATE LEVEL OF AUTHORITY, BE ABLE TO MEET OUR NEEDS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND ATTENTION TO OUR REQUEST. I OWN A 2000 AUDI TT AND THE AUDI DEALER SERVICE CONFIRMS THAT THE TT'S INSTRUMENT PANEL HAS AN INTERNAL PROBLEM WHICH REQUIRES REPLACEMENT OF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AT A COST ESTIMATE OF $1193.13. THE TT HAS A KNOWN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILURE PROBLEM AND AUDI HAS PROVIDED RELIEF TO OWNERS REGARDING THE INSTRUMENT FAILURE IN BOTH THE UK AND THE US. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 75,000 MILE ON IT AND INSTRUMENT FAILURE AT THIS LOW MILEAGE IS UNACCEPTABLE. AUDI SAYS THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY WOULD DO NOTHING, WHICH SEEMS LIKE A RIDICULOUS RESPONSE AS THE PROBLEMS AFFECTS THE SPEEDOMETER AND SAFETY WARNING LIGHTS. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CAN ONLY BE REPLACED BY THE DEALER TO PRESERVE AUTO SETTINGS. THIS TYPE OF SAFETY DEFECT SHOULD BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE MANUFACTURER. *TR

CONSUMER STATES THAT THE PROBLEM WITH THE INSTRUMENT PANEL HAS PROGRESSED CAUSING PROBLEMS WITH THE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED THE FUEL AND TEMPERATURE GAUGES NO LONGER FUNCTIONED AND THE LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DID NOT INDICATE READABLE INFORMATION. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER THEN BEGAN GETTING WORSE WHICH HAS NOW STARTED AFFECTING THE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED HE BEGAN EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS 3 YEARS AGO AND THE PART WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM HAS RESURFACED. THE FUEL AND TEMPERATURE GAUGES NO LONGER FUNCTIONED AND THE LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY HAS FAILED AND DOES NOT INDICATE READABLE INFORMATION. THE SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER FUNCTIONED SPORADICALLY. *JB
FUEL GAUGE CONSISTENCY READS THE WRONG LEVEL OF FUEL IN THE GAS TANK. LEFT ME STRANDED TWICE ALREADY. THIS IS A VERY VERY COMMON MALFUNCTION FOR MY MODEL OF AUDI. *TR

ALL EUROPEAN AUDI/VOLKSWAGEN DEALERS REPLACE DASHPODS FREE OF CHARGE AS IT IS A KNOWN DESIGN FAULT. AUDI USA WILL NOT REPLACE DEFECTIVE DASHPODS. *TR

THE ENGINE BELT FAILED DUE TO BENT VALVES AND THE SEAT VALVES BEING DAMAGE. *JB

CONSUMER STATED THAT HE COULD NOT AFFORD TO GET THE PROBLEM FIXED WHEN IT FIRST BEGAN AND NOW IT IS WORSE AND MORE MONEY. *KB THE FUEL AND TEMPERATURE GAUGES NO LONGER FUNCTIONED AND THE LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY HAS FAILED TO INDICATE READABLE INFORMATION. THERE WAS NO WAY TO KNOW THE LEVEL OF FUEL IN THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE OPERATING TEMPERATURE, BRAKE SAFETY INFORMATION OR ENGINE CHECK NOTIFICATION. ADDITIONALLY, THE SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER FUNCTIONED SPORADICALLY. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 AUDI TT QUATTRO. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WOULD NOT DISPLAY PROPERLY. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY IN 2004. IN OCTOBER OF 2006, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FAILED AGAIN. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 140,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.

THE CLUSTER LIGHTING FLICKERS AND THE SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER GAUGE LIGHTING IS NOT VISIBLE AT NIGHT. THE CONSUMER HAS NO WAY OF KNOWING THE LEVEL OF FUEL IN THE VEHICLE. 2000 AUDI TT QUARTO WITH MALFUNCTIONING INSTRUMENT CLUSTER CUSTOMER STATES THAT AFTER RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM THAT THIS IS A WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM**NAR**CC THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER HAS BEEN MALFUNCTIONING FOR A WHILE NOW AND THE CONSUMER STATED THAT IT WOULD COST $1,000 TO REPAIR. THE CONSUMER STATED HE CONTACTED THE DEALER WHO WAS SUPPOSED TO BE CONTACTING THE DEALER AND GETTING BACK WITH THE CONSUMER BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE CONSUMER STATED HE ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH A BROKEN RADIATOR HOSE. THE CONSUMER STATED WOULD LIKE AUDI TO PROVIDE A FULL COVERAGE WARRANTY FOR THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AT A LOCAL DEALERSHIP. THE CONSUMER PREVIOUSLY HAD A TIRE DEVELOPED A BUBBLE, THE DEALER INITIALLY STATED HE MUST HAVE HIT CURB, BUT IT WAS LATER DETERMINED THAT THE TIRES WERE DEFECTIVE AND ULTIMATELY THE MANUFACTURER REPLACED THE TIRES. *TR

THE POWER WINDOW WAS NOISEY WHILE GOINGDOWN. THE DEALER FOUND THAT THE PANEL WAS OUT OF ADJUSTMENT. *NM

I HAD A TIMING BELT FAILURE AT 80K WHICH REQUIRED MOST OF MY ENGINE TO BE REPLACED. MY COMPLAINT IS, AUDI MAINTENANCE DID NOT RECOMMEND A TIMING BELT CHANGE BEFORE 80K. I ALSO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE ENVIRONMENTAL SYSTEM AND THE REAR SUSPENSION WHICH IS WEARING THE TIRES PREMATURELY AND, SOME OF MY GAUGES ARE NOT WORKING. *JB

THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS DEFECTIVE. THERE WAS NO ILLUMINATION. THE DRIVER WAS NOT ABLE TO TELL HOW FAST SHE GOING, OR HOW MUCH FUEL WAS AVAILABLE. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS WAITING FOR A RESPONSE FROM THEM. PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB

REASON FOR SERVICE CALL: NO HEAT DIAGNOSIS BY AUDI DEALER: INTERNAL SHORT IN A/C CONTROL HEAD ESTIMATE OF COST TO REPLACE THE A/C CONTROL HEAD- $900.00 I DENIED AUTHORIZATION FOR THE $900.00 REPAIR. WHEN THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO ME, THE CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM WOULD ONLY DELIVER HEAT AND AT A VERY HIGH TEMPERATURE. THERE WAS NO ADJUSTMENT OF TEMPERATURE NOR COULD THE SYSTEM BE SHUT DOWN. EVEN WHEN THE CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM CONTROLS WERE SET IN AN OFF POSITION, HEAT CONTINUED TO TRICKLE THROUGH THE VENTS. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE SUGGESTED THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS AN EXAMPLE OF ERRATIC ACTIVITY EXPECTED FROM A SHORT IN THE A/C CONTROL HEAD AND SAID I WOULD HAVE TO BEAR THE COST OF ANOTHER SERVICE CALL: $106.00 TO SHUT OFF THE HEAT OR SHUT DOWN THE ENTIRE CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM (AS I REQUESTED). I ARRANGED TO MEET WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER AND SERVICE FOREMAN THE FOLLOWING DAY. CLIMATE CONTROL WAS CHECKED VIA THE SCAN TOOL AND HAD MULTIPLE FAULTS RECORDED FOR FLAP MOTORS. ATTEMPT TO SET BASIC SETTINGS OF MOTORS WAS UNSUCCESSFUL; ALL MOTORS RECORDED FAULTS. SERVICE FOREMAN CONCLUDED THAT THE CLIMATE CONTROL HEAD WAS FAULTY. I CONSULTED WITH THE FOREMAN ON OPTIONS TO SHUT OFF HEAT TO THE CABIN AND AGREED TO HIS SUGGESTION TO REMOVE THE TEMP FLAP CONTROL MOTOR AND SET FLAP IN COOL POSITION. MOTOR AND ATTACHED PARTS HAVE BEEN STOWED BY OWNER FOR POSSIBLE REINSTALLATION AT A LATER DATE. SERVICE MANAGER AND I MADE A GENTLEMAN'S AGREEMENT TO SPLIT THE COST OF THE ADDITIONAL REPAIR. MY PORTION WAS $53.56. 2000 AUDI TT HAD A 3 YEAR WARRANTY. DUE TO EARLY RELEASE OF VEHICLE, I TOOK DELIVERY OF CAR IN JULY 1999. THE WARRANTY FOR THE 2001 MODEL WAS EXTENDED TO 4 YEARS.

WHILE DRIVING ABOUT ANY SPEED DASHBOARD WILL GO OUT WITHOUT ANY POWER ON IT.ALSO, RADIO WILL NOT WORK/ SOMETIMES HOOD WILL NOT OPEN, AND VEHICLE WILL LOSE POWER.*AK
DUE TO A COMPUTER ERROR, ENGINE EXPLODED. DEALER HAS REPLACED ENGINE. CONSUMER DOES NOT KNOW IF COMPUTER HAS BEEN MODIFIED. *AK
