One recall was for air bag deployed I had the light for it on but it was on when I got it the original owner said it popped on him well he was parked and he never fixed it or did anything ... The other was a part of the computer pretty much in charge of cooling the car down it can make fire from melting and cause unfixable/ to constant issues .... Well my hole engine stopped working it was getting too hot miss firing coolent mixing with oil and started to smoke it was white smoke that came out didn't smell like anything crazy maybe mostly coolent and pretty much it had electric issues since I got it so the recall issue makes sense so I took it in to bmw Riverside they said they will fix all that and contact me it's been almost 2 weeks I live in my car I'm disabled and a mom I can't even go drive and see my child over this I have no income disabled type thing and no word what's wrong they said they might charge me a few of 287 but I'm disabled no income yet so that's out it tells me it will be fixed free and if the dealer won't fix the electric system on everything in the car and not charge me later like they said they will then I want to sue big time and if that's not dun when clearly safety was in danger fire issues and crap I want the same car but a new one off the lot not brand new car or fix then I'm sueing for my losses that simple
I was driving my car when all of a sudden the lights in the odometer started flickering and the car started putting and then shut off. Basically broke down on me. I cannot get it to stay on it feels like it has no power.
BMW told me they would not be covering reimbursement for repairs/part replaced which I believe were damaged/failed directly as a result of failed PCC value. Now the RECALL notice for the PCV value does state that certain parts would be replaced or reimbursement paid if they were damaged /repaired as a result of failed PCV VALUE. Here is a brief summary… I purchased the vehicle in April 2024. At the time had a mechanic check out the car. May 15 - took the car to BMW for outstanding PCV VALUE RECALL. the tech told me they also did courtesy inspection and I would need front shock n tires soon. I opted not to have the work done that day. May 23 - washed the car /checked fluids/tire pressure etc - and found the coolant was nearly empty. I called and texted the BMW tech who I was in contact with for the recall work - no response. June 4 - drive the car 100 miles stop at friends. During the trip the AC was not blowing cold air like it usually did. No check engine lights or any other on the dash. An hour later the car won’t start. Took the car to my mechanic ( not BMW) and end up needing starter/ manifold gasket/ intake throttle gasket. I get the car back and shortly after more problems - when I would start the car the engine would shake for 15-20 seconds when I would start the vehicle while the engine was still warm. Also the fan motor would run extremely loud when in stop n go traffic. After researching online, I found all these issues others had experienced due to faulty PCV value. I contacted local BWM and BMW CORP - was told reimbursement was not available for this latest pcv recall but only reimbursement for previous recall.
Unknown/ Had recall on pcv heater control valve done by authorized BMW DEALER about 2 weeks ago. On date May 5 2023 Parked car, shut of engine,a smell of plastic and smoke started coming from hood area, flames erupted right away . Total loss
Received written Safety Recall Notice from BMW April 2022. To date, no more contact from BMW, and the NHSTA website has no update about a repair. This has been 8 months with no repair or resolution.

The contact stated that the recall was repaired however, while driving approximately 20 MPH, the contact heard a sharp whistling sound coming from the engine. The service engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the valve cover needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated on 8/2/2022 while parking at a gas station, he started to smell smoke. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated he inspected under the hood but did not locate where the smoke was coming from. The contact stated while walking away from the vehicle, he saw smoke exiting the rear of the vehicle, but was unable to open the trunk. The contact called the fire department to open the rear trunk with a crowbar and they were able to extinguish the fire. The police also arrived at the scene. The contact was unaware if any police or fire reports were filed. The contact stated no one was injured or sought medical attention. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to a junkyard. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The VIN was also associated to NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V676000 (Electrical System). The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 134,000.

I'M JUST RECEIVING THE RECALL LETTER THIS APRIL 2022. I'VE CALLED BMW TWICE FOR THE REPAIR AND IT'S STILL UNAVAILABLE. I EXPERIENCED THE ISSUE ALREADY 2 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING MY CAR FROM CARMAXX IN JUNE 2020 BUT BELIEVED I HAD IT REPAIRED BY PUSCHASING A NEW RADIATOR, COILS, WATER PUMP AND THERMOSTAT. I WOULD LIKE FOR BMW TO CHECK AND CHANGE THE CORRECTED PART OUT. I WAS ON THE FREEWAY OUT OF TOWN WHEN THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SMOKE WITHOUT WARNING WITH ME COASTING IT OFF THE FREEWAY AND NOTHING POPPED UP ON SCREEN THEN HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED HOME.
Not a particular incident, but this recall has been active for a little more then two months. While also my car has been affected since Fall of 2021. Not once have BMW even reached out or provide any type of consultation of maybe having a rental car for the time being, or simply buy back the car or something along those sorts.
I am filing a complaint based on the recalls for my vehicle. There are two recalls with no solutions. My car has not been functional in over 6 months. I have called BMW and they have offered me no solutions. I want to receive compensation so I can be done with this vehicle and get one that I can actually drive.
The vehicle hasbeen over heating, my 18 year old son, uses this car for transportation to his school, we are very afraid something can hapen, at this point we need BMW to fix the problem. We are stressing about this problem, every day.

The contact had the vehicle repaired for a second time however, the vehicle continued to experience the failure. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. Recall for PCV valve (NHTSA 17V683) has been outstanding since Oct 2017. I received a letter July 2021 from BMW saying I needed to urgently have this repaired and could lead to a fire. It said parts and remedy are available. Went to BMW dealer 3/8/22 and the dealership is telling me that the system tells them there is no fix available for this recall. (Service agent: Yordano Rios Reyes, and Service center Manager: Mike) I told them I was experiencing an active issue with my car related to the PCV valve (excessive vacuum leading to erratic RPM, loud whistling, and stalls). They said their is nothing they can do, so they are telling me I should drive around with an active safety issue.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED A TSB-10076476-5448 ECCENTRIC SHAFT SENSOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.

VEHICLE NEEDS AN AIRBAG REPLACEMENT, AND TWO ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS FIXED. ONE OF THOSE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS MAY LEAD TO THE CAR OVERHEATING WHICH IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND A FIRE HAZARD. *DT I HAVE CALLED THE BMW ROSEVILLE, CA DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES AND THEY DO NOT ANSWER. I AM CONCERNED BECAUSE I COMMUTE FOR WORK AND I ALSO DRIVE AROUND MY PREGNANT WIFE AND MY 5 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER.*JB
I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE 2 IGNITION COILS IN LESS THAN A YEAR. #1. WAS TOLD BY WARRENTY CO THAT THERE IS ALSO A TSB (TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN) FROM BMW RECOGNIZING A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAND OF COILS (BOSCH) THAT WERE INSTALLED FROM THE FACTORY, & THEY WANT SHOPS TO REPLACE THEM WITH AN UPGRADED BRAND (DELPHI). THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A PROBLEM WITH THESE IGNITION COILS. WHO IS RESPONSIBLE TO PAY FOR CHANGING THEM OUT?

AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC CAME OUT TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE AND WAS ABLE TO START THE ENGINE. THE MECHANIC LOCATED A LEAK AT THE TOP OF THE RADIATOR HOSE. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE RADIATOR HOSE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED ON JULY 20, 2019 WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO LONG BEACH BMW (1660 EAST SPRING STREET, SIGNAL HILL, CA 90755, (562-427-5494) TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED. THE RESULTS OF THE TEST WERE UNKNOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000.

MY SITUATION IS POWER SUPPLY RELATED, MY HEADLIGHTS AND PART OF MY CLUSTER DISPLAY CASH BOARD BEGAN FLICKERING, MAKING AN ELECTRICAL NOISE AND WITH THE SWITCH ON OFF POSSITION THE LIGHTS DID NOT WANT TO TUIRNO OFF. I NOTICE THIS ON AROUND JUNE OF 2018, I WAS DRIVING ON MY WAY HOME FROM EATING PIZZA, SMELL SOMETHING LIKE BURN PLASTIC, I ASKED MY WIFE DO YOU SMELL SOMETHING LIKE BURN RUBBER?, SHE SAID YES BUT WERE IS IT COMING FROM?, I PAID NOT MUCH MIND TO THIS LATER WHEN I GOT HOME I SMELLED IT AGAIN, LFELT THE CAR SOME WHAT HOT BUT THE SAMEL WAS NOT STRONG SO I PAID NO MIN, AFTER A FEW WEEKS I HAD TO CHANGE A WATER HOSE THEN ANOTHER WATER HOSE, THE WHEN I TUERN THE CAR OFF THE LIGHTS ON THE CAR AND THE TRIANGLE HAZARD LIGHT DID NOT WANT TO TURN OFF EVEN WITH THE LIGHT SWITCH ON THE OF POSSITION. MY 2009 328I BMW WAS LEFT AT THE AUTORIZED BMW SERVICE CENTER IN GUAYNABO, P.R. ON THE 18TH OF AUGOST 2018 AND IS STILL AT THIS SERVICE STATION BUT ALWAYS COME WITH AN EXCUSE TO WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, I KNOW ITS RECALL RELATED BECAUSE ITS AN ELECTRICAL SITUATION BUT THE ADVISOR AT THE SERVICICE CENTER ALWAYS SAYS ITS NOT RECALL RELATED, AT FIRST THEY SAID THEY FIXED THE LIGHT PROBNLEM BUT THE NOISE CONTINIUED AND THAT THE NOISE CAME FROM THE RADIOS AMPLIFIER, THEN THEY SAID IT CAME FROM TYHE CARS FUSE BOX, NOE THEY SAY ITS THE CARS CAS BUT THA THIS IS NOT RECALL RELATED, I TOLD THEM THAT IF THIS CAS IS THE CODIFIED KEY ENTRY THAT THIS SHOULD BE RECAL;L RELATED BECAUSE ITS A POWER SUPPLY COMPONENT AND THATS AN ELECTRICAL PART SO ITS RECALL RELATED, THEY SAID ITS NOT RELATED BUT THAT THEY HAVE SENT FOR THE PART AND WOULD BE ARRIVING ON THE 2ED OF NOVEMBER OF 2018 AND THEY WILL INFORM ME WHEN THE PART ARRIVES AND THAT THEY ARE GOING TO PAY FOR THE PART AND THE SERVICE.
MY CAR HAS BEEN HAVING SERIOUS ISSUES. OVER HEATING, SMOKING UNCONTROLLABLY,UNABLE TO USE AIR/ HEAT CONDITIONING DUE TO TOXIC SMOKE COMING THROUGH VENT. TAKATA RECALL. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IVE HAD TO FILE A COMPLAINT. MY CAR KEEPS DYING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WHILE I'M DRIVING JUST RANDOMLY. IT GIVES NO WARNING OR ANYTHING I CAN'T DRIVE MY CAR IN THE HEAT OR AT NIGHT. I'VE BEEN TO THE BMW DEALERSHIP HERE AND IT'S BEEN 6MONTHS AND THEY STILL DON'T HAVE THE RECALL PARTS. I WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY HIGHWAY BETWEEN 70-80 MPH. THE ENGINE STALLED AND I WAS UNABLE TO PRESS THE GAS. I MANAGED TO GET THE CAR OFF ON AN EXIT DUE TO MOMENTUM. AFTER SITTING IN A PARKING LOT FOR 30 MINUTES, THE CAR CRANKED BACK UP WITHOUT ANY ISSUE. THE STALLING ISSUE HAS OCCURRED TWICE.

I BEGAN EXPERIENCING TROUBLE WITH MY 2009 BMW 328I SEDAN AS EARLY AS JANUARY 2017. THE AIR CONDITIONER WOULD SOMETIMES GO ON AND AT OTHER TIMES IT WOULDN'T GO OFF .I WAS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THE HEATER. SHORTLY AFTER MY CAR BEGAN TO OVERHEAT AND STALL OUT.IT WOULD HOLD BACK UNTIL I WAS IN 4TH GEAR, IF I EVEN MADE IT THAT FAR BEFORE DYING OUT. IT BEGAN TO SOUND LIKE A OLD VW. L REACHED OUT TO MY LOCAL BMW SERVICE DEPT. FOR REPAIRS. I WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEMS MY VEHICLE WAS HAVING,.WAS NOT UNDER RECALL BY BMW AT THAT TIME. AND THAT ANY REPAIRS DONE TO MY VEHICLE WOULD HAVE TO COME OUT OF POCKET. AT THE TIME IT WASN'T AN OPTION. I HAD THE REPAIRS DONE AT A LOCAL INDEPENDENT AUTO REPAIR SHOP.11 MONTHS LATER I BEGAN EXPERIENCING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS ALL OVER AGAIN. WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, I ACCELERATE AND WITHOUT WARNING, DASHBOARD LIGHTS UP WITH "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" AND VARIOUS OTHER LIGHTS, POWER STEERING GOES OUT, AND I HAVE TO MANEUVER CAR ACROSS LANES OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC TO A SAFE SHOULDER. I TURN ON HAZARDS, REMOVE KEY AND WAIT SEVERAL MINUTES. THE CAR TURNS OVER BUT DOESN'T START. I WAIT LONGER, TURN OFF HAZARDS, RE-INSERT KEY AND CAR STARTS UP. I AM ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING, BUT AVOID HARD THROTTLE. THIS HAPPENED 2 MONTHS AGO, AND I TOOK IT TO A LICENSED MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED AS FAULTY FUEL PUMP AND REPLACED IT. THE CAR THEN HAD VACUUM LEAK FOLLOWED BY A COMPLETE REPLACEMENT OF VALVE COVER. THE ISSUE I EXPERIENCED ON THE INTERSTATE WAS IDENTICAL TO WHAT OCCURRED BEFORE THOSE REPAIRS WERE DONE AND BEARS A STRIKING RESEMBLANCE TO ISSUES DESCRIBED IN THE 2013 BATTERY CABLE RECALL, YET MY VIN # IS NOT INCLUDED.

I HAD JUST LEFT HOME AND HAD BEEN DRIVING FOR FEW MINUTES. WAS WAITING ON TOP OF A SMALL HILL AT A STOP LIGHT AND STARTED TO ACCELERATE WHEN IT TURNED GREEN. THAT IS WHEN THE CAR TURNED OFF AND STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARD DOWN A HILL. HAD TO PUT ON EMERGENCY BRAKE AND TRIED TO TURN ON THE CAR BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. SO HAD TO CRUISE BACKWARDS TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. POWER STEERING WAS NOT WORKING AND WAS DIFFICULT TO STEER. AFTER WATING 10 MINUTES TRIED TO RESTART CAR AGAIN AND IT TURNED ON. BROUGHT THE CAR IN TO THE BMW DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY COULD FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. NOW 4 MONTHS LATER MY CAR IS NOT WORKING AT ALL.

TL* I WAS DRIVING ON WHEN MY CAR CAUGHT FIRE. THE FIRE BROKE OUT INSIDE THE CABIN, DIRECTLY BEHIND THE REAR PASSENGER-SIDE SEAT. I BELIEVE THIS FIRE COULD HAVE BEEN EASILY AVOIDED IF THE SONNEN BMW SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAD PERFORMED THEIR JOB MORE DILIGENTLY. A WEEK BEFORE THE FIRE, I BEGAN TO SMELL A BURNING RUBBER ODOR WHEN I TURNED ON MY HEATER/DEFROSTER. I IMMEDIATELY DROVE THE CAR TO SONNEN BMW. THE SERVICE ADVISOR RESPONDED THAT IT WAS NOT BMW'S PROBLEM. I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK INTO BMW FOR SERVICE. I ALSO MENTIONED REPEATEDLY THAT I SMELLED BURNING RUBBER WHENEVER I TURNED ON THE HEATER/DEFROSTER. BMW KEPT THE CAR FOR A WEEK. APPARENTLY, BECAUSE I MENTIONED THE HEATER, BMW GOT FIXATED ON LOOKING FOR THE PROBLEM WITHIN THE HEATING DUCTS AND NEVER THOUGHT TO CHECK THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. AFTER HAVING THE CAR FOR A WEEK, THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY HAD DETERMINED THAT THE CAUSE OF THE ODOR WAS A LEAF THAT HAD GOTTEN SUCKED INTO THE BLOWER ASSEMBLY. THEY CHARGED ME $320 TO OPEN THE ASSEMBLY AND CLEAN OUT THE LEAVES. WHEN I PICKED UP THE CAR I INSISTED TO SPEAKING WITH ONE OF THE SERVICE MANAGERS, AS THIS MADE NO SENSE TO ME. I POINTED OUT THAT BURNING LEAVES DO NOT SMELL LIKE BURNING RUBBER, AND I DOUBTED THIS WAS THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. THE SERVICE MANAGER INSISTED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING ELSE WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE AND THAT, AFTER CLEANING OUT THE BLOWER ASSEMBLY, THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. IT IS APPARENT TO ME THAT BMW NEVER ONCE TURNED ON THE DEFROSTER DURING THE WHOLE TIME THEY HAD THE CAR'EVEN THOUGH I INDICATED THAT THIS WAS PART OF THE ISSUE. IF THEY HAD, THEY WOULD HAVE IMMEDIATELY REPLICATED THE ISSUE AND KNOWN THAT IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH LEAVES IN THE BLOWER. RATHER THEN APOLOGIZING, THE ASSISTANT MANAGER IMMEDIATELY TRIED TO SHIFT THE BLAME BE STATING THAT WE TOLD THEM THE ODOR WAS COMING FROM THE HEATING DUCTS.

I HAD A LOW BATTERY ISSUE ON MY 2009 BMW 328I ABOUT 3 MONTHS AFTER I HAD IT SERVICED FOR A BATTERY CABLE RECALL AT MOTORWERKS BMW DEALER IN BLOOMINGTON, MN. MOTORWERKS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I HAD TIRES PLUS REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY FOR HALF THE PRICE COMPARED TO MOTORWERKS. UNFORTUNATELY, THE AFTERMARKET ALTERNATOR THAT TIRES PLUS INSTALLED CAUSED MY CAR TO OVER HEAT BECAUSE IT WAS OVER CHARGING. I EVENTUALLY TOOK MY CAR BACK TO MOTORWERKS TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY. I EMAILED THE SERVICE CONSULTANT IF IT WAS NORMAL FOR THE ORIGINAL ALTERNATOR TO MALFUNCTION SO QUICKLY ON A 2009 BMW 328I. I ALSO INFORMED HIM THAT I HAD MY CAR SERVICED AT MOTORWERKS FOR A BATTERY CABLE RECALL IN MARCH 2013 AND ASKED HIM IF IT WAS POSSIBLE THAT THE ORIGINAL ALTERNATOR ISSUE WAS RELATED WITH FIXING THE BATTERY CABLE. HE STRANGELY HAS NOT ANSWERED MY QUESTION WHICH MAKES ME WONDER IF THEY ARE NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE ORIGINAL BAD ALTERNATOR IF IT WAS RELATED TO THE BATTERY CABLE RECALL SERVICE. I'M ALSO WONDERING IF OTHER 2009 3 SERIES BMW OWNERS HAD A LOW BATTERY ISSUE DUE TO A BAD ALTERNATOR AFTER HAVING THEIR CARS SERVICED FOR THE BATTERY CABLE RECALL IN MARCH 2013. IF THE ORIGINAL ALTERNATOR ISSUE IS FOUND TO BE RELATED WHILE SERVICING THE BATTERY CABLE RECALL THEN I WOULD LIKE TO GET A FULL REFUND FOR THEIR SERVICE ON MY NEW ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY.
