I HAVE HAD CONTINUOUS PROBLEMS OVER THE LAST YEAR WITH THE STABILITRACK SYSTEM GOING OFF AND IT TELLING ME TO SERVICE STABILITRACK. I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED THE MOTOR ON THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS BUT APPARENTLY THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD THE MOTOR REPLACED DURING THE RECALL SO I HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THAT. NOT TO MENTION SPENDING OVER $200 JUST TO GET MY HEADLIGHT BULB REPLACED AT A SHOP BECAUSE ITS NOT SIMPLE ENOUGH TO JUST TAKE THE COVER OFF AND REPLACE THE BULB. THIS CAR HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT A MONEY PIT. THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN ACTING A LITTLE STRANGE LIKE OCCASIONALLY NOT WANTING TO SHIFT ONE DAY AND THEN BEING FINE THE NEXT. THE OTHER DAY I WAS DRIVING AND IT WOULDN'T SHIFT, REV"D UP TO 4000 RPM AND WOULDN'T GO OVER 40 MPH. I'M AT THE POINT WHERE I CAN NOT AFFORD TO CONTINUE TO PAY FULL COVERAGE INSURANCE PLUS MY CAR PAYMENT ON A CAR I CANNOT DRIVE.

I HAVE CHANGE THE ALTERNADOR, THE PURGE VALVE, THE VALVE CANISTER ON TOP OF THE GAS TANK AND THE OTHER SENSOR THAT TELL YOU ABOUT THE FUMES OF THE TANK WENT FILLING. I ALSO CHANGE THE PCV VALVE ALL THE BREATHERS HOSES IN THE INTAKE HOUSING , I CHANGE THE TROUTLE BODY, THE SPARK PLUGS, THE COILS, THE INTAKE GASKETS, THE OXIGENTS SENSORS,THE BATERY POLES. AND THIS SUV STILL GIVING ME PROBLEMS NOW IT WENT TO A TRANSMISSION LIMP MODE AND IS NOT COMING OUT NOT EVEN IF YOU ERASE THE CODES AND ALL FUSES ARE GOOD.

TRANS BEGAN SLIPPING BADLY AND WOULD ONLY GO INTO THREE GEARS, COULD NOT DRIVE OVER 30 MPH ON THE FREEWAY AFTER A 65 MPH CRUISE. TRANSMISSION REQUIRED COMPLETE REPLACEMENT AT 158K MILES. COST $4,285.00. COME TO FIND OUT THIS KNOWN DEFECT HAS HAPPENED TO THOUSANDS OF ENCLAVE/ACADIA/SATURN SUVS SINCE 2008. SOME WITH AS LITTLE AS 20K MILES, OTHERS UP TO 200K MILES. OF COURSE, NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT THIS. THIS IS A SAFETY AND DRIVABILITY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND THE OWNERS COMPENSATED FOR THEIR REPAIR COSTS. INSANE!

AT 104K MILES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AGAIN; THE DEALER SAYS IT IS THE SAME TIMING CHAIN THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACE. BUT THIS GM NOR THE DEALER CAN EXPLAIN WHY THE TIMING CHAIN FAILED AFTER ONLY 14K MILES OF USE. TIMING CHAIN APPEARS TO BE AN ISSUE ON 2008 ENCLAVE EVEN THOUGH GM HAS REFUSED TO COVER THEM. ALSO IT APPEARS THE REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE NOT ANY BETTER.

ONCE I GOT IT INTO NEUTRAL I WAS ABLE TO BACK DOWN THE INCLINE FROM THE CARPORT TO THE STREET. IT DID SHIFT INTO DRIVE, BUT WOULD ONLY GO ABOUT 25 MPH ON A BUSY HIGHWAY AND STAYED IN FIRST THE WHOLE TIME. I CONTACTED THE LOCAL CHEVY/GM DEALER AND HE SAID TO BRING IT IN. I COULDN'T BECAUSE I WAS AT WORK. THIS MORNING THE DEALER CALLED AGAIN AFTER BEING ASKED TO BY MY HUSBAND AND SENT A TECHNICIAN TO MY HOME. THE TECH CHECKED IT AND WROTE SOME CODES DOWN AND WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALER THEN CALLED AND SAID IF I COULD GET THE CAR TO HIM HE WOULD HAVE THE TECH CHECK THE FUSES AND RELAYS. HE CHECKED THE CODES HE HAD PULLED AND CHECKED ALL FUSES AND RELAYS AND SAID THAT I NEEDED TO CONTACT A TRANSMISSION SHOP BECAUSE THE COMPUTER WAS NOT TALKING TO THE TRANSMISSION. ALL OF THIS AFTER AN ALMOST HOUR TRIP TO DRIVE 8 MILES TO THE DEALERSHIP AND DRIVE THAT SAME 8 MILES BACK HOME BECAUSE WE KEPT HAVING TO STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND STOP THE ENGINE AND THEN RESTART IT AGAIN ON THAT SAME BUSY HIGHWAY. WE HAD SEVERAL NEAR MISSES (PEOPLE DRIVING THE 65 MILE SPEED LIMIT NEARLY REAR ENDING US). SURELY THERE IS SOMETHING THAT CAN BE DONE TO MAKE SURE THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE!

THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY IS 5 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES. GM ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTIES OF 10 YEARS AND 120,000 MILES FOR BOTH TRANSMISSION CLUTCH WAVE PLATE (3/5/R) AND FOR TIMING CHAIN SLIPPAGE. SO THEY ACKNOWLEDGE THEY HAVE THESE PROBLEMS WITH THE MATERIAL USED AND OR ENGINES. MY CONCERN IS THAT FOR THE TIMING CHAIN EXTENDED WARRANTY GM SKIPPED THE BUICK ENCLAVE 2008 YEAR MODEL AND COVER ONLY THE 2007 & 2009 YEAR MODELS AND THEY DO NOT WANT TO EXTEND THE COVERAGE TO COVER MY TIMING CHAIN REPLACEMENT. THIS IS NOT A NORMAL ROUTINE SERVICE ITEM PER THEIR BUICK ENCLAVE USER MANUAL. TIMING CHAIN SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR REPLACING THE TIMING CHAIN ON A VEHICLE WITH UNDER 100,000 MILES BECAUSE GM USED POORLY MANUFACTURED CHAINS. USUALLY METAL TIMING CHAINS LAST WELL BEYOND 100,000 MILES. I'VE NEVER REPLACED A CHAIN ON ANY OF MY VEHICLES PAST OR PRESENT. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT WITH THE GM TIMING CHAINS WHICH SHOULD BE COVERED. BUICK MOTOR HAS A NOTICE OUT SAYING THEY WILL REPAIR AT NO CHARGE FOR 10 YEARS, OR 120,000 MILES. I HAD 124,276 MILES AND THEY HAVE REFUSED TO REIMBURSE ME. I CONSIDER THIS FEATURE TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE, AS THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT BECAUSE I NO LONGER HAD ANY CONTROL IN ORDER TO GET OUT OF THE WAY. THE VEHICLE FROM THIS POINT ON, HAD ISSUES SHIFTING INTO 3RD AND 5TH GEARS. THIS CAR HAD ABSOLUTELY NO PRIOR ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION PRIOR TO THIS DATE. I HAD THE CAR SERVICED AND COMPLETELY CHECKED OUT BY A MECHANIC FOR ANY MECHANICAL ISSUES A FEW DAYS PRIOR TO THIS TRIP. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, WHO FIXED TWO SEPARATE TRANSMISSION PLATES AND REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION MODULE. I WAS GUARANTEED BY THE REPAIR SHOP MANAGER THAT I WOULD HAVE NO FURTHER ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION. LITTLE DID I KNOW, I SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN THAT CONVERSATION IN WRITING. I CONTINUED TO HAVE HARD SHIFTS AFTER THE REPAIR, ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT'S THE TRANSMISSION MODULE SENSING HOW I DROVE. LESS THAN ONE WEEK LATER, TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY FAILED, LEAVING MY WIFE STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH THE VEHICLE UNABLE TO NOT SHIFT OUT OF 1ST GEAR, FORCING ME TO CALL A TOW TRUCK TO BRING IT TO BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. NOW THEY ARE TELLING ME I HAVE TO REPLACED THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION, ALL AT MY COST. AFTER PAYING FOR THE PLATES AND MODULE TO BE REPLACED LESS THAN A WEEK PRIOR, NOW THEY WANT TO AGAIN REPLACED THOSE PARTS WITH A COMPLETELY NEW TRANSMISSION. IF I WERE BEING FOLLOWED TOO CLOSELY BY ANOTHER CAR OR SEMI ON THE INTERSTATE, I WOULD HAVE BEEN REAR-ENDED. IF THAT WERE THE CASE- THERE WOULDN'T BE A COMPLAINT, BUT A LAWSUIT. IT HAS BEEN EXPRESSED THAT THE 3-5-REV WAVEPLATE AND OTHER POSSIBILITIES OF FAILURE. I HAVE LESS THAT 84,000 MILES ON MY VEHICLE AND GM HAS A 5YR/100,000 MILE WARRANTY. FRIDAY DEC 26TH AT 4:30 PM I WAS ACCELERATING TO MERGE INTO RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON I-35 WHEN I HAD A CATASTROPHIC TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THERE WERE NO ALARMS, LIGHTS, NOISES, SMELLS OR ANYTHING ELSE TO ALERT ME TO THE FACT THAT MY VEHICLE WAS ABOUT TO FAIL. I CHECKED THE POSITION OF THE GEARSHIFT THINKING THAT HE HAD ACCIDENTALLY SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL BUT FOUND THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN DRIVE. THE ENGINE REVVED WHEN HE PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR BUT THE CAR CONTINUED TO ROLL BACKWARD. THE ONLY GEAR THE WOULD WORK WAS PARK. WE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE LOCAL BUICK GMC CADILLAC DEALER. ON MONDAY, AUGUST 18, A SERVICE TECHNICIAN CALLED TO LET US KNOW THAT THE 35R WAVE PLATE HAD FAILED AND THE 35R HOUSING WAS ALSO DAMAGED AND THAT METAL DEBRIS HAD BEEN FOUND THROUGHOUT THE UNIT. THE REPAIR TOOK ABOUT TWO DAYS AND COST $3589.49. THANKFULLY WE WERE NOT ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. HAD WE REMAINED ON THE INTERSTATE ANOTHER MILE AND SUDDENLY NOT BEEN ABLE TO KEEP THE VEHICLE MOVING FORWARD WHILE THE TRAFFIC AROUND US MOVED AT EXPRESSWAY SPEEDS, WE COULD HAVE HAD A SERIOUS ACCIDENT THAT RESULTED IN TERRIBLE INJURY OR FATALITY. I WROTE A LETTER TO BUICK REQUESTING REIMBURSEMENT OF COST OF THE REFUND AND EXPENSE WE INCURRED DUE TO HAVING TO WAIT TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. AFTER 66,000 MILES OF EASY DRIVING, OUR 2008 BUICK ENCLAVE HAS A BROKEN WAVE PLATE AND NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION! THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE CAUSED TWO SEPARATE DANGEROUS DRIVING SITUATIONS, ONE OF WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL. THE FIRST EVENT OCCURRED WHEN STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION TO MAKE A LEFT TURN. I HAD TWO CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT. WHEN THE INTERSECTION CLEARED, I BEGAN TO MAKE THE LEFT TURN, BUT THE ENGINE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AND MERELY COASTED INTO THE LANE OF ON-COMING TRAFFIC. THE LEFT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND THE 7-YEAR-OLD CHILD SITTING THERE WERE LEFT EXPOSED TO THE THREAT OF IMPACT BY FAST-APPROACHING TRAFFIC. AFTER ABOUT 2 SECONDS, THE ENGINE ACCELERATED AND WE WERE ABLE TO LEAVE THE INTERSECTION MOMENTS BEFORE ON-COMING TRAFFIC ARRIVED. THE SECOND EVENT OCCURRED TWO DAYS LATER. TRAVELING 45-50 MPH ON A LOCAL HIGHWAY, THE ENGINE SLIPPED GEARS AND WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WE RETURNED HOME AT SLOW SPEED. IN THE DRIVEWAY, WE PUT THE CAR IN PARK, THEN IN DRIVE AND REVERSE. IT BARELY MOVED IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE NEXT DAY, WE WERE ABLE TO DRIVE IT TO THE NEARBY DEALERSHIP. WE TRIED CONTACTING GM CUSTOMER SERVICE BUT RECEIVED NOTHING MORE THAN A RECORDED MESSAGE ASKING US TO HOLD ON THE LINE. WE HELD FOR OVER ONE HOUR AND RECEIVED NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. A REVIEW OF MANY WEBSITE POSTINGS REVEALS A WIDESPREAD FAILURE OF THE ENCLAVE WAVE PLATE AND TRANSMISSION, THAT GM IS FULLY AWARE OF IT AND HAS TAKEN NO STEPS TO ADDRESS IT OR TO ENSURE OF THE SAFETY OF THE THOUSANDS OF ENCLAVE OWNERS AND OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD. IF THE CLIP IS NOT FULLY ENGAGED, THE SHIFT LEVER AND THE ACTUAL POSITION OF THE TRANSMISSION GEAR MAY NOT MATCH. WITH THIS CONDITION, THE DRIVE COULD MOVE THE SHIFTER TO "PARK" AND REMOVE THE IGNITION KEY, BUT THE TRANSMISSION GEAR MAY NOT BE IN "PARK".)

I AM IRATE AS NOT ONE ON THE LOT MAKES THE NOISE NOR DO ANY OTHER'S THAT I KNOW PEOPLE DRIVE. THEY SAID THERE WERE NO CODES SO THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO, SO JUST DRIVE IT LIKE IT IS, AS ITS STILL UNDER WARRANTY.
