I was notified via USPS mail by GM 06/2023 regarding a recall (N232404980 / 23V334) & parts not being currently available. I received a follow-up USPS mail by GM 03/2024 regarding the same recall & parts now being available. I followed up with my Buick dealer 05.24.2024 to request a service appointment. I was told the parts were NOT available & the only way for my vehicle to get fixed was by setting up a "placeholder" appointment to get the parts ordered. This "placeholder" was scheduled for 10.31.2024. I hadn't heard anything & reached back out to the dealer on 08.09.24 & was told the part is still not available & still on order. My vehicle is an older model Buick Enclave (2015) & this is safety recall that can't be completed 1 & 1/2 years AFTER notification (6 months after telling me the parts WERE available). This is getting ridiculous to have to wait to have a SAFETY recall, especially as the issues are more prevalent in older models. And this is also hindering my ability to trade in/resell my vehicle since it's an OPEN recall.

GM Recall N232404980: I was sent a letter in June 2023 about this recall, which stated parts were not currently available to replace the airbag. The letter states that GM will contact me when the part becomes available. On May 8, 2024 I called my local GM dealer to ask about the status of this recall. The dealer said they would have to special order the part and would notify me when it was available. The dealer never notified me and on May 28, 2024 I called the dealer, they checked, and the part had come into the dealership. Today I had the new airbag installed at the dealership. Had I not followed up on this recall I may never have been notifed that the replacement was available. This is totally unaccepable and GM should be held responsible.

The recall was discovered on March 25 by my car insurance company. We stopped driving the vehicle since it is unsafe to drive it until recall is remidied with a new part. I have called GM 3 times as well as 3 different dealerships. GM and one dealership mentioned the vehicle is actually safe to drive its just if you got in accident that it would be a concern! Noone can say when these parts will be in and its already been 3 weeks. The dealerships refuse to offer a loaner and when asked about reimburse for a rental they said to call GM. Gm refused to reimburse for a rental since my car is paid for and out of their warranty. GM nor the dealerships are actually doing anything to fix the car or offer transportation that is safe until it can be fixed.

This recall has been an issue since the middle of last year. I have called Buick several times and I am still being told that, "there is no remedy". It is unsafe for me to drive my children around in a vehicle with an airbag issue. This is serious and I would think a recall that can cause serious injury or death would have been taken care of already.

We have been waiting over 6 months for an airbag repair due to the recall but no remedy is available. We have been warned that this could cause injury or death but nothing seems to be happening. I am concerned that GM will issue a statement telling us not to drive the vehicle. I know this has been done just recently on other auto makes. What will it take to get it fixed before another injury or death occurs.
Nothing has happened yet, but there still isn't any progress on a fix from the manufacturer. I worry everyday that I or my children will be killed by my airbags if they deploy. It has been almost 1 year. Shouldn't the manufacturers get to fixing these recalls in a timely manner or update vehicle owners?

Subject: Urgent Complaint: Airbag Defect and Lack of Resolution Dear NHTSA, I am writing to file a complaint regarding the airbag defect in my 2015 Buick Enclave. As a concerned father of four, I'm troubled by the lack of progress in addressing this issue despite contacting GM multiple times. The recent letter from GM states that the airbag inflators are defective, posing a severe safety risk. Rupture during an accident can release metal fragments, endangering occupants. This has caused immense distress. I've contacted GM for information on replacement parts and ETA. However, their responses are vague, with no estimated timeline for repairs. I can't afford a new vehicle, even with my military discount. Our Buick Enclave is vital for daily activities. I implore NHTSA to investigate, hold GM accountable, and expedite the availability of replacement parts. Please ensure consumer safety and intervene to pressure GM for a swift resolution. We deserve safe vehicles. Restore our faith in the industry's commitment to protection. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I don’t know if this is the correct form but - My vehicle has been recalled for a serious safety risk and Buick will not provide a replacement vehicle or pay for a rental while my car is not drivable. They are telling me there is nothing they will do while I am waiting indefinitely for the fix. This is a serious safety and financial burden to me and my family. This is our only vehicle.

I have been notified that my car is recalled. According to your website, long-term heat and humidity makes the airbag more likely to explode. GM as yet is refusing to offer alternative transportation - as recommended by your policies except for brand new cars under 50,000 miles. Yet, by your research, it is older cars that are more at risk. I need transportation for my family and all other manufacturers, along with your agency, are stating do not drive these vehicles, and we are not getting any reasonable response from GM. I appreciate your help in dealing with this issue.

The drivers airbag being recalled is terrifying. I am currently 9 months pregnant and waiting for the recalled part to be declared is the last thing I need to think about right now. The fact that it could deploy at any moment and spew metal parts is unacceptable and should be declared by now. I am not comfortable driving this by myself and soon I’ll have a new born with me. GM is very disappointing and I wouldn’t be surprised if lawsuits were filed. It’s been almost a month since the recall was announced.
A recall has been made on May 10, 2023 for the driver's airbag deployment and the possibly of death being caused by metal pieces flying into the person driving. Recall has been made, yet parts are not available. I am very concerned of injury or death in the event of an accident.

My light is on for airbag and I can’t seem to figure out maybe it’s seatbelt because it’s wrong it’s twisted and airbag says it’s off on passenger so I have a salvage title. Ty had a 2020 VW and a careless driver a young girl driving fast went airborne and left me without my brand new car and cars went off the top expensive it is not my fault this happened and I ended having to buy a used car and most all cars in DFW area high mileage n salvage I needed a car for my job in social services I do frontline work as u did during the pandemic that some idiot driver slammed into my other car I am a safe driver but these idiots on the road is the cause of all this. I need safety for my patients from mental health and other medical and I have children too so. I have also been treated like rudely by Buick and by the agent last third about a week or so ago. She said you have take it and it’s your responsibility to pay and that if I didn’t have the money it was up to me but i had to pay the cost. I said your saying I don’t have a airbag she no no that is not it and said my car was part of recalls but because it was salvage it was not covered and it was my responsibility. She was rude and so was the lady at freedom Buick in Dallas, Tx and she demanded the vin # I also feel I was discriminated because both women weee Anglo n I am Hispanic so.. it has been the most ugliest treatment ever and last time was today by a Anglo lady and I maybe more educated than her and the odiosity of her talking and tone was discriminatory she didn’t even say her name and only said she was some kind of supervisor at freedom dealer so that was today 7/9/22 so sad and she too said same as I told her I would let me leave dealership like that because I have a faulty airbag because of such reasons and she said no you can pay for it then we will look at it then that will go towards repairs again she discriminated and is not caring about injury or deaths so I am very sad this world is evil

THE PASSENGER 'SERVICE AIRBAG' LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING ON. A DEALER HAS LOOKED AT IT TWICE NOW WITHOUT A SUCCESSFUL REPAIR. THE MOST RECENT WAS ON 5/24. SUPPOSEDLY A POOR CONNECTION AT A SEAT CONNECTOR WAS FOUND, CODE B0021, AND WIRES WERE CUT AND SPLICED TOGETHER. 2 DAYS LATER THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON JUST LIKE LAST TIME. OUR CONCERN IS THAT IF WE WERE TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT WOULD THE AIRBAG DEPLOY?
Mileage: 67,000
TAKATA RECALL?? MY SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON, BUT NO RECALL IS ISSUED FOR MY VIN. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED OVERNIGHT THEN THE NEXT MORNING WHEN I STARTED IT THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON. NO ACCIDENTS. I HAD THE SENSORS CHECK AND A SCAN DONE ON HE CAR WITH NO INDICATIONS.
