Low beam headlights randomly turn off while driving at night and day. Causing not to be able to see the roadway at all. Very dangerous!!! They give no warning at all. Only the low beams do this. Bright lights are not affected. There was a recall for this issue but they said my car was not affected. But it is 100% affected by this recall. Ot seems like the Headlamp driver module is overheating. It gets extremely hot. This issue almost caused a very serious accident .

THEY SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL ON IT, BUT WE NEW THERE WAS. MY HUSBAND PAID FOR THE NEW MODULE AND PUT IT IN. THIS TIME IT TOOK PLACE ON TUES. MAR. 29 AND 8:30 PM IN THE DARK. I HAD 3 GIRLS I WAS TAKING HOME FROM WORK AND MY HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT. ALMOST HIT SOMEONE ALONG THE ROAD AND THERE WAS TRAFFIC COMING AT ME. THAKFULLY THE GIRLS GUIDED ME INTO A DRIVEWAY. MY BRIGHTS WORKED TO GET ME AND THE GIRLS HOME. MY HUSBAND CHECKED AGAIN AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO RECALL OR FIX. HE BOUGHT THE MODULE AND REPLACED IT HIMSELF. THANK GOD WE WERE SAFE. I WENT TO MY MECHANIC. HE WAS ABLE TO GET A TEMP HMD REPLACEMENT PART IN ABOUT 3 DAYS. HE INSTALLED THE TEMP REPLACEMENT PART AND EXPLAINED TO ME WHAT HAPPENED TO THE DISFUNCTIONING HDM. THAT WAS IN 07/2014.MY BUICK WAS IN THE RECALL FOR THE HDM MALFUNCTION. UPON RECEIVING THE RECALL LETTER, I TOOK MY BUICK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED THERE WERE NO REPLACEMENT PARTS AVAILABLE AT THAT MOMENT. I SHOULD CHECK BACK OR RECEIVE A PHONE CALL FROM THE DEALERSHIP WHEN SAID PART WOULD BE AVAILABLE. I EXPLAINED THAT THE PART WAS REPLACED PRIOR TO THE GM RECALL. THE RECALL NOTICE WAS ON 01/2015 FROM GLOBAL VEHICAL SAFETY IN MILWAUKEE, WI. AS FAR AS THE DEALERSHIP, I NEVER HEARD ANYTHING BACK FROM THEM. ON 10/27/2015, I SUBMITTED A REIMBURSEMENT CLAIM FOR OUT OF POCKET PAY ACCORDING TO THE INSTRUCTIONS STATED ON THAT FORM, TO THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER 3 MONTHS OF NO RESPONSE FROM THE DEALERSHIP, I WENT IN AND TALKED TO THEM DIRECTLY. THEY STATED THAT A PERM REPLACEMENT PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE YET SO MY CLAIM WOULD NOT BE PROCESSED UNTIL GM ANNOUCED A PART WAS AVAILABLE AND A SECOND LETTER WAS MAILED TO ME. ANOTHER 2 MONTHS PASSED AND NO CALLS OR LETTERS FROM GM OR THE DEALERSHIP. I WENT IN DIRECTLY TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE TO WAIT FOR AN "OFFICIAL" AUTHORIZATION FROM GM TO START THE CLAIM PROCESS. I FEEL AS IF GM AND THE DEALERSHIP ARE NOT WORKING ON THIS MATTER TO THE FULLEST OR EVEN ANY EFFORT TO RESOLVE THIS SITUATION. IT'S FUNNY YET SAD THAT MY MECHANIC REPLACED THE HDM IN ROUGHLY 5 DAY OR SO, WHICH BY THE WAY, IS STILL PERFORMING PERFECTLY FINE. YET THIS MAJOR AUTO COMPANY(GM) CANT RESOLVE THIS ISSUE WITH THE HDM PART. REALLY?! SOMEONE NEEDS TO TAKE A CLOSER INTO THIS SITUATION. REPLACED THE UNIT A SECOND TIME. IT FAILED. ON DECEMBER 28, REPLACED THE UNIT A THIRD TIME ALONG WITH A BATTERY SHUT OFF SWITCH. GUESS WHAT??? THIS TOO FAILED...WITHIN 24 HOURS!!! CONTACTED BUICK AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY CAN NOT FIX THIS PROBLEM YET BECAUSE THERE IS NO "OFFICIAL" RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A DANGER WHEN SOMEONE'S HEADLIGHTS GO OUT ALL OF THE SUDDEN WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING AT NIGHT; THIS COULD CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT WHICH COULD INVOLVE LIVES. THE LOW BEAMS ON THIS VEHICLE HAD BEEN FLICKERING ON AND OFF AT NIGHT FOR A FEW DAYS. THEN THE LOW BEAMS WOULD NOT COME ON AT ALL ON THE NIGHT OF DECEMBER 2, 2012, HIGH BEAMS WORKED BUT THE SMELL OF BURNING PLASTIC FILLED THE CAR AND I IMMEDIATELY SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. UPON INSPECTION I FOUND ONE OF THE RELAYS, PRESUMABLY THE LOW BEAM RELAY, BURNED AND MELTED INSIDE THE FUSE BLOCK CAUSING A SMALL FIRE INSIDE THE FUSE COMPARTMENT WHICH FORTUNATELY CONTAINED THE FIRE BUT DESTROYED THE ENTIRE FUSE PANEL (BLOCK). THIS APPEARS TO BE A WELL DOCUMENTED AND COMMON PROBLEM ON THE 2007 BUICK LACROSSE AND YET THERE IS NO RECALL. THIS IS A TOP TIER SAFETY CONCERN AS IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THERE IS A FATALITY ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SAFETY ISSUE. I HAD THE CAR REPAIRED AT A BUICK DEALER FOR A TOTAL OF $616.15. THIS TYPE OF FAILURE SHOULD NOT HAPPEN ON A VEHICLE OF THIS AGE OR MILEAGE, YET I AM READING THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON TO EXPERIENCE THIS SAME EXACT ISSUE. I CAN USE THE DIMMER ON THE STEERING COLUMN AND THE BRIGHT LIGHTS WILL WORK, BUT DRIVING WITH BRIGHT LIGHTS INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC IS DANGEROUS. I NEED TO HAVE A DEALER FIX THIS PROBLEM. I WAS HAVING INTERMITTENT HEADLIGHT ISSUES WITH MY CAR, I WOULD DRIVE AND THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD RANDOMLY SHUT OFF, I WOULD PULL OVER AND THEY WOULD COME BACK ON ABOUT 3 MINUTES LATER. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND TRIED REPLACING THE HEADLIGHT RELAY, THIS SEEMED TO FIX THE PROBLEM FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS. ON THE NIGHT OF APRIL 13, I WAS AT THE MALL AND WHEN RETURNING TO MY CAR, IT WOULDN'T START. I HAD THE CAR JUMPED AND THE FUSE BOX CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE HEADLIGHT RELAY HAD MELTED AND DESTROYED MY FUSE BOX. I HAD MY FUSE BOX REPLACED AND AGAIN, EVERYTHING WAS FINE FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS, WHEN I STARTED GETTING THE INTERMITTENT ISSUE AGAIN. LAST NIGHT, MAY 1ST, MY CAR AGAIN DIED. THIS TIME, ALL FUSES AND RELAYS WERE REMOVED BEFORE JUMP STARTING MY CAR, BUT YOU CAN LOOK AT THE RELAY AND SEE THAT IT HAS BEEN MELTING ONCE AGAIN. I'VE RESEARCHED ONLINE AND CAN'T FIND A PROPER FIX FOR THIS. THE RELAY HAS BEEN REPLACED AND IT'S NOT FIXING THE PROBLEM. *TR

WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY ONE NIGHT THE LOW BEAMS SUDDENLY WENT OUT. I WAS FORCE TO USE THE HIGH BEAMS UNTIL I COULD PULL OVER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
