MY VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE HEAT. I WAS NOT ABLE TO DETERMINE IF IT WAS BLOWING COLD AIR OR NOT BLOWING AT ALL. BEFORE I HAD A CHANCE TO ADDRESS THE HEATING ISSUE, THE VEHICLE RAN HOT AND CONTINUED TO RUN HOT UNTIL A MECHANIC REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT AND THE COOLANT AND CU AT 2/3 SLIT IN THE RUBBER UNDER THE HOOD. IT CAME TO MY ATTENTION THAT THE VEHICLE HAD OVERHEATING PROBLEMS BEFORE IT WAS SOLD TO ME. I HAVE SINCE TRIED TO SELL IT AND FOUND TH ST IT WAS NOT ACCEPTED BY TWO CAR BUYING/SELLING WEBSITES DUE TO PREVIOUS SALVAGE. I PURCHASED FROM A BUY-HERE PAY- HERE. IT STILL HAS OVER HEATING ISSUES AND IT STILL HAS NOT HEAT BLOWING INSIDE. I WANT TO KNOW IF REPAIRS WILL HELP SINCE IT'S REGARDED AS A SALVAGE. IS IT LAWFUL TO SELL A SALVAGED VEHICLE KNOWING THE PURCHASER WAS PUTTING THE CAR ON THE ROAD? I BOUGHT THE CAR IN OHIO AND I LIVE IN NEW YORK.

WHEN DRIVING THE BUICK RENDEZVOUS 2002 HOME THE BRAKES BEGAN TO NOT RESPOND. AFTER ARRIVING HOME AND DRIVING DOWN OUR DRIVEWAY, THE SUV HAD SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE ENGINE. THE BUICK RENDEZVOUS WAS TURNED OFF BUT CONTINUED TO EXPELLED LARGE AMOUNTS OF SMOKE UNDER THE ENGINE AREA. WITHIN 5 MINUTES THE ENGINE AREA CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE BOZRAH FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AND BY THE TIME THEY ARRIVED WITHIN 15 MINUTES OR SO THE ENTIRE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE.

THE CONTACT IMMEDIATELY TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND VACATED THE VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A MECHANIC SHOP WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR CAUGHT FIRE. THE WIRE HARNESS FROM THE FUSE BOX TO THE FIREWALL WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL, BUT THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED. THE DETAILS OF THE RECALL WERE NOT PROVIDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.

MY BIGGEST COMPLAINTIS THAT I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE HEAD GASKETS TWICE IN THE PAST SIX YEARS. I KEEP BEING TOLD THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL BECAUSE GM HAS BEEN AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. I CANNOT AFFORD TO PURCHASE A NEW CAR NOW WITH ALL THE REPAIRS IVE PUT INTO THIS, AND ITS PROBABLY NOT WORTH MUCH. 5 MINUTES AFTER BEING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MILES PER HOUR THE VEHICLE STARTED DROPPING SPEED AND MESSAGE CENTER STARTED SHOWING LOW BATTERY, LIGHTS PROBLEM, SERVICE ENGINE SOON, BRAKE FLUID LOW, WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID LOW, LOW TIRE PRESSURE, SECURITY SERVICE. ALSO, WHEN I COME TO A STOP THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF BY ITSELF AS A LOW POWER, FEW MINUTES LATER, STARTS BACK UP AND CAN KEEP DRIVING BUT HITTING THE GAS PEDAL AND RELEASING IT AFTER A FEW SECONDS AT A TIME TO RECHARGE THE BATTERY SO IT WOULD NOT SHUT OFF AGAIN. ALSO, AFTER THIS HAPPENED THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS BEGAN TO COME ON AND OFF BY THEMSELVES. TOOK TO A MECHANIC TO HAVE IT SERVICED THEY SAID TO REPLACE THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR AND IF PROBLEMS CONTINUED THE STARTER. FEW MONTHS LATER AFTER REPLACING THESE PARTS, IT STARTED GIVING ME PROBLEMS WITH LOW FAN AS IF THE RELAYS WERE BAD BUT THEY ARE IN GOOD CONDITION, LOW BATTERY FUEL AND HAD TO BE CHANGED AGAIN BECAUSE THE BATTERY WAS NOT RETAINING CHARGE. THE VEHICLE STILL HAS ALL THE MESSAGES IN THE MESSAGE CENTER, THEY NEVER WENT AWAY. THEN WITHIN THE LAST MONTH I WANTED TO HAVE THE RADIO REPLACED, BUT I FOUND OUT THE SPEAKERS HAVE POWER COMING STRAIGHT FROM THE BATTERY TO THE RADIO THAT CAUSES IT TO OVERHEAT AND MAKES STATIC WHEN THE RADIO IS ON WHILE DRIVING. ALSO, THE NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH FOR THE IGNITION KEY GOT BURNED SO NOW IT IS NOT WORKING BUT STILL HAS ALLOWED FOR THE CAR TO TURN ON AND OFF AND DRY. A WEEK AGO, 04/28/14 THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN SHOWING AN ERROR MESSAGE IN THE MESSAGE CENTER, EVERY LIGHT POSSIBLE IN THE MESSAGE CENTER ABOUT THE SERVICES THAT NEED TO BE DONE COME ON, WHICH I ASSUME NOW IS THE BODY CONTROL MODULE THAT HAS GONE BAD. COME GET CAR ITS DEAD! WAIT 2 MORE DAYS! BATTERY AGAIN! GET IT HOME 1 WEEK LATER CAR IS DEAD! HAS TO DEALERSHIP AGAIN! DO YOU SEE THE PATTERN, THIS IS OVER A 2- 3 MONTH PERIOD! THE SMELL OF GAS IS NAUSEATING. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE, BUT NOT MY VIN. GM COULDN'T POSSIBLY CARE LESS AND IT INFURIATES ME THAT THE GOVERNMENT BAILED THEM OUT. I WILL NEVER BUY GM AGAIN!! AT 101,000 MY TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING A LITTLE. HAD IT FLUSHED & FILTER CHANGED, HELPED FOR ABOUT A DAY, THEN STARTED AGAIN. AWD LIGHT STARTED COMING ON & GOING OFF, COMING ON & GOING OFF. BLEW 2 FUSES IN MY CAR, NOTHING WOULD WORK. AT 101,000 CAR WENT FROM A NORMAL TEMP.(JUST GOT OFF WORK, HAD NOT EVEN DROVE 2 MILES) TO HOT, PULLED OVER, OH GUESS WHAT THERMOSTAT STOPPED WORKING, IT WAS LEAKING COOLANT, CRACKED A HEADER. THAT TOO REPLACED. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AROUND 108,000, NOW WHAT, O2 CENSOR, FUEL PUMP, INTAKE MANIFOLD, AND CATYLIC CONVERTER. ALL REPLACED TOO. WHEN I START MY CAR, SOMETIMES IT WON'T START. SO I HAVE TO POP THE HOOD & MOVE WIRES AROUND AND PLAY WITH THE BATTERY POST TO GET IT TO START. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE BATTERY BUT ITS NOT, BECAUSE I HAVE REPLACED THAT TOO. WHEN YOUR DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT ABOUT 60, AND TURN THE WHEEL EITHER RIGHT OR LEFT, THE STEERING WHEEL WILL SHAKE, & YOU CAN FEEL SOMETHING THAT FEELS LIKE A RATTLE UNDER YOUR FEET. IN MY SITUATION THE SEVERAL TIMES THAT THE LIGHTS WENT OUT, I WAS IN A DANGEROUS PLACE (ON CURVEY HIGHWAY BETWEEN PENNSYLVANIA AND OHIO AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 55-70MPH) THE SITUATION WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS AND DASH LIGHTS WERE OUT COULD HAVE HAD FATAL CONSEQUENCES ESPECIALLY WHEN TALL HILLS SURROUND CURVEY FREEWAYS AND ROADS AND SUCH AS A DEER CROSSING THE ROAD OR WORSE YET, A PERSON ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. 2002 BUICK RENDEVOUS, ELECTRICAL AND HEAD GASKET PURCHASED THIS CAR OVER A YEAR AGO SO FAR HAD TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION AND REPAIR TRANSMISSION X2, NEEDS HEAD GASKETS DUE TO MY CAR OVERHEATING GRADUALLY, HAVE TO BLEED THE SYSTEM FOR AIR PRETTY MUCH EVERY OTHER DAY TO GET HEAT IN THE CAR. MY COMPUTER HAS BEEN REPLACED 6 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING IT AFTER BEING UNABLE TO CLEAR ITSELF OF THE CODES. THIS LAST INCIDENT THE BATTERY DIED AND SINCE NOW THE COMPUTER IS RUNNING THE CAR CAUSING MY CAR TO RUN IN PARK AT 3 RPM'S, IN NEUTRAL IT SHOOTS UP TO 4500, IT DRIVES ABOUT 2-2.5 RPMS. THE COMPUTER WAS CLEARED AND RESET LAST NIGHT RPM'S DROPPED TO ABOUT 760 STILL ELEVATED BUT OK, THEN STARTED IT THIS MORNING TO TAKE MY DAUGHTER TO SCHOOL AND IT DROVE ITSELF, STALLING AS I WATCHED THE COMPUTER RUN THROUGH AS IT WAS POSSESSED, I HAVE SINCE CALLED THE CAR "CHRISTINE". I CAN SEE THE COMPUTER RUNNING THE CAR, AS THE RPMS ELEVATE AND THEN DECREASE, SHUTTING THE CAR DOWN ETC, I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT THERE IS NO RECALLS AS THIS IS SO DANGEROUS. THERE ARE NO CODES RELATING TO THIS ISSUE, NO TRANSMISSION, ENGINE ISSUES, THIS IS COMPLETELY COMPUTER RELATED. I HAD SOMEONE WITH A COMPLEX SYSTEM DELETE ALL CODES AND HAVE THE COMPUTER RELEARN ITSELF. IT WORKED. STARTED IT THIS MORNING AND STARTED ALL OVER. BETWEEN THE COMPUTER AND HEATING AND COOLING SYSTEM, THIS CAR IS A CONSTANT HEADACHE NOT TO MENTION I HAVE HAD THIS CAR IN THE REPAIR SHOP MORE THAN I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE IT ESPECIALLY SINCE I'M STILL PAYING ON IT.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AT NIGHT, ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD STARTED FLICKERING. ON OCCASIONS MY RENDEZVOUS WOULD MAKE A SPUTTERING SOUND WHEN I WOULD TURN IT OFF, THEN LIGHTS AND RADIO WOULD TURN OFF IMMEDIATELY, INSTEAD OF THE UPON OPENING THE DOOR. THIS HAS HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES. DEALERS EXPLAINED NOT TO WORRY ABOUT THE PROBLEM. ANTI LOCK BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON 3 DAYS AGO, IT WENT OUT THEN CAME BACK ON AGAIN. AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE NORMALLY THIS MORNING AND DRIVING APPRX 2 1/2 MILES, I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. IMMEDIATELY MY 2002 RENDEZVOUS DOORS LOCKS ARE AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGING ITSELF IN THE UNLOCK MODE; THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WITH OR WITHOUT MANUAL CONTROL; THE LIGHTS ARE CONSTANTLY FLASHING; THE RADIO IS LOCKED OUT. IT WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO START IT AT ALL. AFTER WAITING APPRX 30MINS AND REMOVING THE FUSE FOR THE DOOR LOCK IT STARTED. BUT ONCE THE FUSE IS PLACED BACK IN IT BEGIN TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE EXPERIENCED A SERIES OF MECHANICAL FAILURES ON MY VEHICLE SINCE THE YEAR I PURCHASED IT. THE LATEST INCIDENT WAS 02/15/08 WHEREIN THE LIGHTS ON THE VEHICLE CONSOLE BEGAN TO FLASH...ENGINE COOLANT LIGHT, CHANGE OIL, BATTERY-THE VEHICLE THEN BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN APPROACHING 42MPH (THE CAR HAD REGULAR MAINTENANCE ON 02/08/08). THIS OCCURRED ON HIGHWAY 680 SOUTHBOUND DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVICED REPEATEDLY FOR THE SAME ISSUE WITH NO REMEDY MORE THAN FIVE TIMES. I NOW FEEL AT RISK AND FEEL THE VEHICLE IS A SAFETY HAZARD. THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN ON ME 08/30/07 IN TRIPLE DIGIT HEAT ON HIGHWAY 680 NORTHBOUND. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE. I WAS TOLD THE PROBLEM WAS A FAULTY FUEL FILTER. THE FILTER WAS REPLACED AND THE PROBLEM RECURRED ABOUT 3 OR 4 WEEKS LATER. THE DEALERSHIP AND GM TELL ME THAT SINCE THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. THE PREVIOUS TIME I HAD MY VEHICLE SERVICED FOR MECHANICAL FAILURE, MY HUSBAND PICKED THE VEHICLE UP FOR REPAIR AND HE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY AFTER PULLING OFF THE DELEARSHIP PROPERTY. ALL OF MY SERVICES HAVE BEEN PERFORMED BY THE SAME DEALERSHIP. ALL OF MY MAINTENANCE IS CURRENT. THERE MUST BE SOME REASONABLE EXPLANATION FOR THIS RECURRING PROBLEM, BUT NO ONE SEEMS TO HAVE AN ANSWER. I HAVE HAD THE COMPUTER/PARTS REPLACED TWICE WITHIN 6 MONTHS, FUEL FILTERS REPLACED, SENSORS REPLACED AND A HOST OF OTHER ITEMS. I WANT TO GET RID OF THE VEHICLE AT THIS POINT BECAUSE I HAVE TO TRAVEL ALMOST 30 MILES ONE WAY TO MY PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A CLINKING NOISE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE THEN SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DIFFERENT MECHANIC AND HE STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. AS OF NOVEMBER 8, 2007, THE MECHANIC HAD NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE ELECTRONIC DOOR LOCKS WOULD NOT OPERATE. AS OF NOVEMBER 8, 2007, THE DEALER HAD NOT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. MY 2002 RENDEZVOUS WAS PURCHASED MID-YEAR 2005. AT FIRST THERE WERE ONLY SMALL FLICKERS IN THE HEADLIGHTS, LIKE BLINKING QUICKLY. THE AUTO ELECTRICIAN SAID OUR BATTERY WAS OVERCHARGING AND REPLACED IT. ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO,MY CAR WOULDN'T START, NO SOUND AT ALL LIKE THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. BOUGHT ANOTHER BATTERY AND TWO DAYS LATER IT WOULDN'T START AGAIN. AGAIN ELECTRICIAN LOOKED IT OVER, COULD FIND NOTHING. SOON MY DOOR LOCKS BEGAN TO LOCK AND UNLOCK BY THEMSELVES EVEN WHEN THE CAR WAS OFF AND NO ONE WAS IN IT. COMING HOME ONE NIGHT ON A VERY DARK ROAD, ALL OF MY LIGHTS WENT OUT, INSIDE AND OUT. THERE WAS NO WHERE TO PULL OVER AND NO OUTSIDE LIGHTS. IT SCARED ME BAD. THE WEATHER SENSOR WOULD SAY THERE WAS ICE ON THE ROAD WHEN IT WAS 95 DEGREES OUTSIDE. WHEN IT WAS REALLY HOT ONE DAY SOME KIND OF LOCK WAS PUT ON MY AIR CONDITIONER ,POWER DOOR LOCKS AND WINDOWS AND I THOUGHT I'D SUFFOCATE BEFORE I GOT TO WORK. THE CAR DID THE SENSOR LOCK BY ITSELF. I HAVE PAID ANOTHER 145 DOLLARS TO THE AUTO ELECTRICIAN TO TRY AND TRACE WHAT WE THOUGHT WAS A GROUND FAULT. HE ORDERED THE ELECTRICAL SCHEMATICS AND TRACED ALL GROUNDS AND COULD FIND NOTHING. THE ONLY WAY WE COULD RESET THE COMPUTER WAS TO UNHOOK THE BATTERY, THEN HOOK IT BACK UP. I HAVEN'T DRIVEN THIS CAR IN 6 WEEKS BECAUSE IT IS SO UNRELIABLE AND DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. AT APPROX 20,000 MILES MY AIR CONDITIONER UNIT WENT BAD. I BELIEVE IT WAS THE CONDENSER. AT APPROX 23,000 MILES MY RADIO WILL STAY ON AFTER WE EXITED THE CAR AND WOULD DRAIN OUR BATTERY. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND FOUND NO PROBLEMS. THEY REGROUNDED THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. AFTER A COUPLE OF HUNDRED MILES SAME ISSUE RETURNED AND DIDN'T BOTHER TAKING IT TO THE DEALER. AT APPROX 30,000 MILES WE WERE GETTING A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BUT DEALER DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING. THEY THOUGHT IT WAS AIR IN THE FUEL TANK. HAD SAME ISSUES FOR A COUPLE OF TIMES BUT DIDN'T BOTHER TAKING IT TO THE DEALER. AT APPROX 45,000 -50,00 THE COMPUTER UNIT WENT BAD. THE SPEEDOMETER, ODOMETER, TEMPERATURE GAUGE AND FUEL GAUGE WAS GOING HAYWIRE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE COMPUTER UNIT AND AT THE SAME TIME THEY FOUND THE INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET WAS BAD. THEY WENT AHEAD AND REPLACED IT. AT APPROX 50,00 - 52,000 THE KEY CYLINDER WENT BAD. I COULDN'T PUT IN THE IGNITION KEY AND HAD TO TOW THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER. I NEVER HAD THOSE PROBLEMS WITH PREVIOUS VEHICLES. NOW AT APPROX 57,500 MILES THERE IS A NOISE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THERE'S NO NOISE WHEN THE ENGINE IDLES WHEN THE CAR IS STOPPED. WHEN THE TRUCK STARTS SPEEDING UP YOU HEAR A HUM IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE FASTER YOU GO THE LOUDER IT GETS. IT ALSO GETS LOUDER IF YOU STEER TO THE RIGHT. I HAVE TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER TO FIND OUT WHAT'S WRONG. THE PROBLEM IS THAT AFTER YOU GET THE CAR FIXED, THERE'S ALWAYS SOME OTHER THINGS GOING BAD. ONCE AFTER ANOTHER. ALL EXTERNAL AND INTERNAL LIGHTS INCLUDING HEADLIGHTS AND BACK LIGHTS TURN OFF EVEN WHILE CAR IS IN DRIVE. TURNS OFF FOR ABOUT 6 SECONDS. DROVE COUPLE OF NIGHTS WHEN THIS OCCURRED 1 INCIDENT ON MAJOR HIGHWAY WHILE MERGING, ALMOST AN ACCIDENT. LEFT IN PURE DARKNESS. HAPPENS ANYTIME OF THE DAY. SAFETY ISSUE THAT GM SERVICE HAS NOT YET FIXED. 2. CAR GOES ON LIKE A SECURITY MODE. SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT SOON INDICATOR STAYS ON, RADIO NOT WORK, AC NOT WORK, WINDOWS AND DOORS LOCK, CLOCK STOPS. BCM CHANGED IN 2004 TO TRY TO FIX THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS BUT DID NOT WORK. 3. 1ST TIME ONLY SUV COMPLETELY WON'T START. LAST DRIVEN WAS JULY 31ST 06 AND IT WORKED FINE, IT SAT IN THE GARAGE AFTER. NEXT DAY OF WANTING TO USE IT WAS AUG. 5TH 06 WOULD NOT START AND TRIED TO JUMP CHARGE IT BUT DID NOT WORK. HAD TO GET IT TOWED OUT OF OUR GARAGE. DASH INSTRUMENTS AND REMOTE ACCESS CLICKER FAILED. WE HAD NO SPEEDOMETER OR ANY OTHER ENGINE INDICATORS AND COULD ONLY GAIN ACCESS WITH KEY IN DOOR LOCK. AFTER ONE WEEK DELAY WAITING FOR A NEW CLUSTER IT WAS REPLACED. TWO WEEKS LATER, SAME PROBLEM AND DEALER AGAIN REPLACED THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. UPON PICKING CAR UP FROM THE DEALER IT WAS DRIVEN HOME AND PARKED IN FRONT OF GARAGE. NEXT DAY SAME PROBLEM AGAIN BUT, WHEN DOOR WAS UNLOCKED WITH THE KEY, SMOKE WAS OBSERVED INSIDE. AS SOON AS 911 CALL WAS MADE, CAR BURST INTO FLAMES AND BLEW OUT WINDOWS, AND SUNROOF 10 FEET INTO THE AIR. PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT, THERE WERE OTHER COMPONENTS REPLACED ON THE VEHICLE WHICH THE DEALERSHIP STATED WERE RELATED TO THE AFOREMENTIONED FAILURE. OUR 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS BEGAN ACTING UP SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE. ONCE WHEN IT HAPPENED, WE CALLED THE BUICK HOTLINE NUMBER ON THE WINDOW STICKER & THE ONSTAR PEOPLE. BUICK GUY SAID SORRY NOT UNDER WARRANTY & A CERTIFIED CENTER WOULD HAVE TO LOOK AT THE PROBLEM AS IT WAS HAPPENING. ONSTAR COULDN'T OFFER ANY ADVICE. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BUICK FOR A RECALL/LATCH REPAIR, WE ASKED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM & WERE TOLD UNLESS THEY SAW THE PROBLEM RIGHT THEN THEY COULDN'T HELP. OBVIOUSLY, I WAS DRIVING THE CAR & IT WAS STARTING AND RUNNING LIKE IT SHOULD. THE PROBLEM: PULLED INTO A NON-BUICK GARAGE TO GET VEHICLE INSPECTED. WHEN MECHANIC WAS DONE HE PULLED THE CAR OUT OF THE BAY & PARKED IT TURNING OFF ENGINE. I GOT IN TO LEAVE & ENGINE CRANKED BUT WOULDN'T START. THIS HAPPENED BEFORE IN OUR DRIVEWAY BUT WE THOUGHT IT WAS A FLUKE. THE MECHANICS COULDN'T FIGURE IT OUT SO WE LEFT IT THERE FOR THEM TO WORK ON. WHEN STAFF WENT TO START THE CAR AN HOUR LATER IT RAN JUST FINE. ANOTHER TIME, MY FINGER SLIPPED WHILE TURNING THE IGNITION KEY SO I WENT TO TURN IT A SECOND TIME. THE CAR WOULD NOT START, OR IF IT DID IT WOULD STOP, AS IF CHOKING OUT & NOT GETTING GAS TO THE ENGINE. I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES THEN GAVE IT 30 MINUTES TO SIT & IT THEN STARTED. ANOTHER TIME WE PULLED UP TO A GAS PUMP, GOT GAS, GOT BACK IN, & THE SAME PROBLEM...HAD TO LET VEHICLE SIT WHERE IT WAS FOR 20 MINUTES WITHOUT CRANKING THE IGNITION THEN IT STARTED FINE. AGAIN: ON A WEEKEND WHILE SHOPPING, PULLED INTO A PARKING SPACE & CUT OFF THE ENGINE; REALIZED NEEDED TO GO TO THE BANK FIRST & WHEN ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE CAR, IT KEPT SHUTTING OFF. THEY TRIED FOR SEVERAL HOURS BEFORE THEY HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MASTER PONTIAC AUGUSTA GEORGIA. ON 7/18/05 THE CAR WAS STARTED IMMEDIATELY AT THE DEALERSHIP. THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. ON 7/22/05 AGAIN AT A GAS STATION THE CAR WOULD NOT START AFTER REFILLING. HAD TO PUSH IT OUT OF THE WAY AND WAIT 30 MINUTES BEFORE IT WOULD START AGAIN. ON 7/23/05 (SATURDAY) CALLED MASTER PONTIAC AND TOLD SERVICE MANAGER ABOUT THE NIGHT BEFORE INCIDENT. HE STATED THAT THE NEXT TIME IT HAPPENS TO CALL THEM IMMEDIATELY. THOUGH I TRULY APPRECIATE THE OFFER, I PERSONALLY DON'T SEE HOW THIS WILL HELP, SINCE THEY IMMEDIATELY WILL TRY AND START THE CAR AND SOMETIMES ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS WAIT 15-30 MINUTES BEFORE IT WILL RESTART. MASTER PONTIAC HAS BEEN VERY HELPFUL, BUT UNFORTUNATELY NOTHING CAN BE FOUND. I SUPPLIED THE SERVICE MANAGER WITH A LISTING OF OTHER COMPLAINTS FROM EDMUNDS FORUM TO SHOW THEM I'M NOT MAKING UP THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU DO NOT KNOW WHEN THE PROBLEM IS GOING TO HAPPEN. THIS IS UNSAFE FOR MOTHERS WITH SMALL CHILDREN. IT'S UNSAFE FOR ANYONE. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS ON EDMUNDS FORUM AND SOMETHING MUST BE DONE. IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE NOT STARTING PROBLEM, THE CAR WILL 80% OF THE TIME HAVE A SLOW START WHEN CRANKING. AFTER OPERATING MY 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS FOR ABOUT AN HOUR ON A HOT DAY, I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE FOR A FEW MINUTES (5) WHILE I COMPLETED SOME ERRANDS. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO START THE ENGINE IT WOULD TURN OVER BUT WOULD NOT FIRE. I ASSUMED THE ENGINE HAD OVERHEATED SO I LET IT COOL FOR 15 MINUTES AND TRIED IT AGAIN. NO LUCK. THIS WENT ON FOR THE NEXT HOUR. I FINALLY LET THE VEHICLE SIT FOR 45 MINUTES AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. THIS HAS OCCURRED 2 PREVIOUS TIMES AND SEEMS TO BE A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL. BOUGHT 2002 BUICK RENDEZVOUS CXL FROM CARMAX WITH 29K MILES. SEEMED TO RUN OK FOR FIRST COUPLE MONTHS...AT AROUND 36K MILES, THE CONDENSER WENT OUT AT THE SAME TIME AS THE ODOMETER STARTED TO DISPLAY "ERROR". UNACCEPTABLE FOR CONDENSER TO FAIL WITH JUST 3 YEARS OF LIGHT USE. ALSO, HAD TO REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL TO GET RID OF ERROR - TOOK A WEEK TO SHIP THE ERROR PANEL TO FACTORY SO THEY COULD READ MILEAGE AND SET ON A NEW PANEL TO SHIP BACK TO THE DEALER. LUCKILY I PURCHASED EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT I STILL HAVE A 75 DEDUCTABLE FOR EVERY REPAIR AND RENTAL VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED.

THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON. MY MANUAL SUGGESTED THIS HAS TO DO WITH THE EMMISSIONS SYSTEM AND MY PERSON THAT DOES MY OIL CHANGES HAD TOLD ME THAT THEY SHOULD CHANGE THE FUEL FILTER AND CLEAN EMISSIONS SYSTEM. I TOOK AND HAD THE PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED DONE. LIGHT STILL ON. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DEALER WHO SAID THAT THE COMPUTER INDICATED A TRANSMISSION SOLONOID BUT THEY WOULD REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND FILTER AND HOPE THAT WOULD UNSTICK SOLONOID. TO DRIVE FOR A FEW DAYS AND SEE IF IT CLEARED. LIGHT STAYED ON. I TOOK TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND HE TOOK TRANSMISSION APART, CHECKED ALL PARTS (INCLUDING THE SOLONOID) ALL PARTS WERE FINE. HOWEVER, HE DID PUT IN A NEW SOLONOID. LIGHT WAS STILL ON. HE CONSULTED GM (BUICK) DATABASE TO LEARN THAT THIS IS A WIRING PROBLEM THAT GM IS AWARE OF. THAT THERE IS A SHORT SOMEWHERE IN THE WIRING AND CAN CAUSE TRANSMISSION TO BURN UP.

AFTER BEING TOWED, VEHICLE LET DOWN FROM TOW TRUCK AND STARTED WITH NO PROBLEM. ENGINE CONTINUED TO OPERATE NORMALLY FOR REMANDER OF TRIP, APPROX. 50 MILES. VEHICLE CONTINUES TO START NORMALLY. DID NOT HAVE DEALER DIAGNOSE PROBLEM. *AK

THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION; HOWEVER THE MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK THE CONSUMER HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER AND THEY FIXED THE MODULE THE SAME DAY. THERE HAS BEEN NO OTHER PROBLEM. CURRENTLY THE VEHICLE IS IN SECURITY MODE. THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO OPEN THE WINDOWS AND THE REAR DOORS. *SC THE CONSUMER NOTICED THE FLOOR MATS WERE DISCOLORED , IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE AIR CONDITION SYSTEM HAD MALFUNCTIONED. THERE WAS A SCREECHING NOISE IN THE STEERING COLUMN, BUT NO PROBLEM WAS FOUND. THE LEFT FRONT HUB AND BEARING WAS REPLACED THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED.*JB

WHEN DRIVING 55 MPH REAR RIGHT TIRE BLEWOUT. THIS CAUSED THE CONSUMER TO PULL OF THE ROAD AND CHANGE THE TIRE. THE TECHNICIAN DETERMINED THAT THE A/C EVAPORATOR DRAIN WAS CLOGGED DUE TO LEAVES COMING FROM THE WINDSHIELD COWLING. THE DEALER CLEANED THE DRAIN AND REMOVED THE LEAVES. THE LEFT FRONT HUB AND BEARING HAD EXCESSIVE PLAY AND WERE NOISY. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE TROUBLE CODES INDICATED THAT THE GAS CAP MAY HAVE BEEN LOOSE. THE VEHICLE BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. IT CAUSED THE SECURITY LIGHTS TO REMAIN ON, THE A/C NOT TO WORK AND AT NIGHT THE HORN WOULD SOUND WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS OFF. AFTER THE CONSUMER LOCKED THE DOOR THE VEHICLE RADIO WOULD COME ON. THIS CAUSED THE BATTERY TO DRAIN AND AS A RESULT THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE JUMP STARTED. *NM

THE HEADLIGHTS ON MY 2002 BUICK, RENDEZVOUS KEPT GOING OUT FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE SHOP (VANATTA BUICK IN VESTAL NY) AND THEY SAID IT COULD BE THE BODY CONTROL MODULE. THEY SCANNED THE DATA OUTPUT AND FOUND SEVERAL CODES THAT INDICATED A MALFUNCTION OF THIS UNIT. I HAD THEM REPLACE THE UNIT. THEY COVERED THE COST OF THE UNIT AND I PAYED THE LABOR.. THE PROBLEM HAS NOT OCCURED SENSE THE UNIT WAS REPLACED. IT IS MY OPINION THAT THIS MALFUNCITON IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM. IN MY SITUATION THE SEVERAL TIMES THAT THE LIGHTS WENT OUT, II WAS NOT IN A DANGEROUS PLACE (IE ON A SUPER HIGHWAY GOING 65 MPH) IF I HAD BEEN IN THAT SITUATION, THE SECOND OR TWO THE HEADLIGHTS AND DASH LIGHTS WERE OUT COULD HAVE HAD FATAL CONSEQUENCES-- SUCH AS A DEER CROSSING THE ROAD OR WORSE YET, A PERSON ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. *AK
