TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 CADILLAC DEVILLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 20 MPH THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE THROTTLE BECAME INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY BECAME STUCK. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 138,000.

PULLING INTO A PARKING STALL THREE-FOURTHS IN, JUST COASTING FOOT NOT ON BRAKE OR ACCELERATOR, MY CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND HIT THE CONCRETE WALL AT THE END OF THE PARKING SPACE. THIS WAS UNINTENDED SUDDEN ACCELERATION. CAR TOWED TO ANDERSON CADILLAC, UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THEY CHECKED CODES AND FOUND NOTHING. CAR SENT TO BODY SHOP. $3000 DAMAGE TO FRONT END. *JB

WHILE DRIVING 25-30 MPH RPMS WENT UP AND VEHICLE STARTED TO ACCELERATE. CONSUMER APPLIED BRAKE, THEN SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL. RPMS THEN WENT TO 45000. CONSUMER APPLIED BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN VEHICLE. DEALER COULD NOT FIND CAUSE. CONSUMER STATES ACCELERATOR STICKS AND TO HIS UNDERSTANDING THAT THIS IS A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM, IT HAS TO DO WITH FUEL ADDITIVES IN THE HIGH TEST FUEL SPECIFIED BY CADILLAC IN THEIR OWNERS MANUAL, BUT WHEN CONSUMER REPORTED THE ISSUE HE WAS INFORMED BY DEALERSHIP THAT THE PROBLEM IS AN OWNERS ISSUE AND THE CORRECTION WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY . *JB
