I WAS PREPARING TO MAKE A 270 DEGREE LEFT TURN AND I WAS ATTEMPTING TO TURN THE WHEEL AND THE STEERING WHEEL KEPT SPINNING WHILE THE CAR STAYED IN A FORWARD MOTION. I ATTEMPTED TO PRESS ON THE BRAKES AND THEY HAD BARELY ANY BRAKE PRESSURE WHICH RESULTED ME TO COLLIDE WITH A PARKED CAR THAT WAS IN THE FIRST PARKING SPOT IN THE LOT I WAS ATTEMPTING TO PULL INTO. THE OPERATOR IN THE PARKED VEHICLE I HIT WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL AFTER SUSTAINING INJURES DUE TO THE IMPACT OF THE CRASH. *TR

MY COMPLAINT IS ABOUT THE REMEDY FOR RECALL #14V355.THE JULY 2, 2014 LETTER TO [XXX] RE:NHTSA NOTIFICATION CAMPAIGN NO. 14V-355 FROM [XXX] , GM, STATES ON PAGE 3 THAT "THE TORQUE PERFORMANCE OF THE IGNITION SYSTEM MAY BE INSUFFICIENT TO RESIST ENERGY GENERATED WHEN THE VEHICLE GOES OFF ROAD OR EXPERIENCES SOME OTHER JARRING EVENT". THIS IS THE SAME IGNITION SWITCH THAT GM HID FROM THE PUBLIC FOR YEARS WHICH RESULTED IN 196 CLAIMS FOR DEATH, 116 CATASTROPHIC INJURIES AND 1,460 OTHER INJURIES. INSTEAD OF REPLACING THE FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH FOR THE RECALL, YOUR ORGANIZATION IS ALLOWING GM TO BLOCK THE KEY FROM BEING PLACED ON A KEY RING WITH HOUSE KEYS, THE REMOTE FOB THAT COMES WITH THE VEHICLE TO OPERATE DOOR LOCKS, SEAT POSITIONING, TRUNK RELEASE AND PANIC ALARM. AND THE GM PROVIDED CADILLAC MEDALLION THAT IS USED TO RETURN THE KEY TO ME IF IT BECOMES LOST. MOST PEOPLE NEED TO KEEP HOUSE KEYS ON THE CAR KEY RING, AND THE FOB IS INTEGRAL TO USING THE VEHICLE. THE RECALL FIX BEING ALLOWED BY YOUR AGENCY IS DANGEROUS AND WRONG. SUBSEQUENT OWNERS OF THE VEHICLES WILL NOT KNOW ABOUT THE RECALL AND POP THE LITTLE PIECE OF PLASTIC OUT OF THE KEY HOLE AND ATTACH ALL OF THEIR KEYS ON ONE KEY RING. FOR CURRENT OWNERS, THIS TAKES AWAY ONE OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE VEHICLE, THE FOB USAGE AND MAKES LIFE MORE DIFFICULT HAVING TO KEEP TRACK OF A SINGLE CAR KEY AND THEIR KEY RING WITH ESSENTIAL KEYS ON IT. ACCORDING TO THE WASHINGTON POST, GM KNEW ABOUT THE DEFECT AND CHANGED THE IGNITION SWITCH PART IN NEWER VEHICLES USING THE SAME PART NUMBER TO AVOID A RECALL AS PEOPLE WERE INJURED AND DIED. GM'S FIX LEAVES MY CAR WITH ITS DEFECTIVE IGNITION SWITCH WHICH IS STILL SUBJECT TO CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. WHO ARE YOU PROTECTING? GM? NOT ME AND I AM TERRIFIED. I WANT MY IGNITION SWITCH REPLACED WITH ONE THAT IS PROPERLY DESIGNED AND MANUFACTURED FOR THE SAFE USE OF MY VEHICLE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 CADILLAC DEVILLE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH AROUND A CURVE, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND THE POWER STEERING PUMP WAS IN GOOD CONDITION. IN ADDITION, THE IGNITION SWITCH BECAME LOOSE AND HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V355000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.

TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON 08/26/05 HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE AIR BAG LIGHT KEPT GOING ON AND OFF. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALERSHIP REPAIRED LOOSE WIRES UNDER SEAT. ON 11/18/05 THE AIR BAG LIGHT STARTED GOING ON AND OFF AGAIN. THE CONTACT TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP AGAIN ,AND THEY REPAIRED THE SAME WIRING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AGAIN IN 12/05 THE DEALERSHIP SERVICED THE AIR BAG CIRCUIT, AND FOUND AN OPEN CIRCUIT TO THE HARNESS. ALSO, THE DEALERSHIP HAD TO REMOVE AND REPLACE DRIVER SEAT SIDE INFLATER MODULE TO REPLACE THE WIRING HARNESS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HEWAS NOW WAITING FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE REPAIRED AGAIN THIS TIME FOR THE AIR BAG ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THE MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE PARKING THE VEHICLE , THE POWER STEERING FAILS. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN 10-15 MILES BEFORE THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY REPLACED THE POWER STEERING PUMP, RACK AND PINION, AND PRESSURE HOSE, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS.

THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE TIE RODS AFTER EACH FAILURE. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REBUILT SO THE VEHICLE WAS SENT TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP TO HAVE THE REPAIRS PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN ALERTED AND EXPLAINED TO THE CONTACT THIS WAS A COMMON FAILURE FOR THIS VEHICLE. *NM

THE CONSUMER CONTACTED A DEALER FOR AN APPOINTMENT. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE PRESSURE AND RETURN LINE HOSE NEEDED REPLACEMENT. *JB THE LEAK WAS FROM THE POWER STEERING PRESSURE HOSE WHICH HAD SPLIT. DEALERSHIP RESURFACED THE FRONTS ROTORS AND REPLACED THE PADS AT 30,000 MILES, AT 50,000 MILES FRONT ROTORS WERE RESURFACED AND THE PADS WERE REPLACED AGAIN. AT 60,000 MILES THE FRONT ROTOR WERE RESURFACED FOR A THIRD TIME. ALSO, HAD A TIE ROD PROBLEM. *AK THE MANUFACTURER INDICATED THAT HE BRAKE WERE WEARING NORMALLY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED EVERY 25000 TO 30000 MILES. THE CONSUMER NOW HAS NO CONFIDENCE IN THE DEALER AND REFUSES TO ALLOW THEM TO WORK ON THE VEHICLE FOR ANYTHING OTHER THAN WARRANTY WORK. *NM

ALSO, KNEE BOLSTER BELOW STEERING WHEEL FEEL ONTO CONSUMER'S LEGS. CONSUMER FOUND PLASTIC CLIPS THAT HOLD KNEE BOLSTER. TECHNICIAN INSTALLED NEW KNEE BOLSTER. *LA

AN ARTICLE IN TODAY'S WALL STREET JOURNAL INDICATED THAT THE NHTSA IS CONDUCTING AN INVESTIGATION INTO POSSIBLE GENERAL MOTORS CAR DEFECTS. NOTABLY DIFFICULTY IN THE POWER STEERING MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN. MY 2000 CADILLAC DEVILLE , WITH 60,000 MILES IS EXPERIENCEING JUST SUCH AN ISSUE. I TOOK THE CAR INTO COLUMBUS CADILLAC AND THEY SAID I NEEDED A NEW STEERING RACK - THE INSTALLATION OF WHICH WOULD COST $ 1,300.00. THE CAR STEERS FINE IN MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN BUT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT IN MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN. I ENCOURAGE YOUR REVIEW OF THIS MATTER FOR A POSSIBLE RECALL, FOR THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THIS SAFETY ISSUE TO ARISE AT SUCH MILEAGE- THE VAST MAJORITY OF WHICH HAS BEEN HIGHWAY MILEAGE..

CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AND SUDDENLEY VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND TOOK OFF IN TRAFFIC, CONSUMER HAD BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESPOND APPROPRIATELY FOR BRAKES, VEHICLE WAS OUT OF CONTROL. *AK CONSUMER STATES THAT THE DRIVERS SEAT HEATER IS INOPERATIVE, DRIVER AND PASSENGER FRONT SEAT BELT BUCKLES WERE OUT OF POSITION, AND THE PASSENGER SIDE PLASTIC RETAINER WAS BROKE, WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE CONSUMER LOST ALL POWER STEERING, DEALER REPLACED RACK AND PINION, ENGINE IS MAKING A KNOCKING NOISE, WHILE ACCELERATING VEHICLE STARTED IN THIRD GEAR, WHICH THE GEARS SEEM TO LOCK UP INTERNALLY, VEHICLE STARTS VIBRATING AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE RIGHT CENTER DASH A/C VENT CLOSES BY IT SELF, THE NIGHT VISION LENS IS CRACKED AND THE CONSOLE HOLDER AND LATCH BROKE.*YD
