1.) Loud engine ticking and clicking noise when car is in park position. 2.) Vibration in steering wheel after numerous alignment and wheel balancing services. Even purchased 4 new tires and vibration still continues.
I was driving my 2022 Cadillac Escalade when suddenly the engine shut off. Lost the ability to drive forward and steering became hard. I was close to being rear-ended as I was on the highway. Towed it to the dealer who said engine seized. Installed new engine after a month of waiting and the vehicle doesn't run right. It has a rough idle. Dealer installed incorrect oil as replacement engines were supposed to retain original oil of 0W-20. Had to make numerous trips to the dealer due to low coolant, wrong oil on a new engine and rough idle. Dealer says its fine. $100K vehicle with a rough idle is a joke!
Took my car to the shop yesterday due to heating a ticking sound coming from the engine. This is the new engine that was replaced AFTER a catastrophic engine failure on May 16, 2025. The service department inspected my vehicle and found metal shards in the oil filter. They need to keep the vehicle because it will need another new engine. This will be the third new engine in a year since the recall on the 6.2L GM engines
My engine was replaced in January of 2025 before the actual recall. I have the serial [XXX] for my new engine . I need to know the build date of this engine so that I can know if my 2nd engine is a new engine with the corrected crankshaft or the remaufactured engine with the defective crankshaft.GM refuses to tell me the build date I have a right to know. After waiting months to get my vehicle checked for recall N252494000 NHTSA 25V274 I was told my vehicle passed inspection. When I asked to see the detailed results of the pico test I was told there are no detailed results and I was not shown anything proving my vehicle was tested and whether it passed or failed. My invoice states "Performed pico test test took multiple tries to complete having to unhook and reinstall pico to complete" which does not make me confident in the result. While talking to the service manager, he mentioned their original pico equipment was replaced by GMC after approximately 5 vehicles failed inspection. Since GMC sent the new equipment there have been no failed inspections. I can't find a way to express my concern to GMC or Cadillac online, that is what brought me here. This recall includes a safety risk serious enough to replace the vehicles engine, I want reassurance that the test was performed properly and my vehicle did not fail.
My engine all of a sudden went dead in the middle of an intersection. I was unable to put the vehicle in neutral and move it so it was stuck in the middle of an intersection until the tow truck arrived. In addition, it had to be dragged due to this issue - which I’m sure isn’t good for it.
Vehicle Make: Cadillac Vehicle Model: Escalade Model Year: 2022 Component(s) Affected: Engine, Fuel System, Powertrain, Vehicle Stability Control Incident Date: [Insert Date of Incident] Mileage at Time of Incident: [Insert Approximate Mileage] Summary of Complaint: While driving my 2022 Cadillac Escalade at approximately 70 mph on the highway, the vehicle suddenly lost all power and stability. This was due to an injector breaking off inside the engine, sending metal fragments into the camshaft, which subsequently locked the motor. This created an extremely dangerous situation as the vehicle became unresponsive and unstable at high speed. Just two days prior to this incident, the vehicle had been serviced by Quantrell Cadillac in Lexington, KY, where a recall repair involving the engine was performed. Despite that service, a catastrophic failure occurred almost immediately afterward. After the breakdown, Quantrell Cadillac attempted repairs over the course of three weeks. These repairs included replacing the injectors, camshaft, and other components, before eventually replacing the entire long block. However, upon picking up the vehicle, it is exhibiting the exact same failure symptoms again—making a popping noise, stalling the engine, and becoming unsafe to operate. This vehicle is clearly not safe to drive and poses a serious risk to myself, my passengers, and others on the road. There have already been multiple recalls related to this issue, indicating a broader systemic problem. We are requesting the NHTSA’s immediate assistance to investigate this safety issue and help us obtain a replacement vehicle that meets all applicable federal safety standards. This level of repeated engine failure & instability is completely unacceptable for any vehicle—especially one with such recent manufacturer service and recall repairs. When this stall occurs, the entire computer system & all safety features are shut down and collision avoidance is also disabled. Have viideo
Was traveling on a busy interstate and vehicle check engine light came on flashing and stability system light as well. Existed next off ramp and when the car started slowing down the engine shut off. Was able to get to a safe location and car would not start. Had it towed to the dealership and they stated engine failure.
I purchased the vehicle two weeks ago. As we were driving on the freeway the car would not accelerate and it started making a clanking noise and then the cab filled with smoke. We pulled over and exited the vehicle. My husband opened the hood and saw a fire. He quickly put out the fire with 3 stanley cups of water. My husband said that the failure caused a hole in the side of the block and the oil completely drained out of the vehicle and was all over the freeway.
I brought my Cadillac escalade in on two different instances where it stopped on me. One time it completely died, the other time it stopped and turn off, then needed to be restarted, with multiple instances. Both times the dealership told me it was related to the fuel pump, and they replaced it. Since then, I brought it in again saying it had random shakes and noises, and they claimed it does that when its in All Wheel Drive. This doesn't make sense. I have been using it in 2WD as recommended, and it still has the shakes and noises. In the past few weeks, the car stopped on my twice. One time I was making a left turn at a stop sign, the other, I was in the middle of an intersection. Now, I will not drive it out of fear for my family and own lives. I called to make an appointment at Autonation Cadillac West Palm Beach, and they said there is nothing that can be done since the engine needs to be replaced, and Cadillac still hasn't issued a remedy. They said for me to call Cadillac directly, which I did. Cadillac opened a case for me, and told me I would receive a call in 1-2 days. I called back on day 3, and was told that I have to wait for the person who was assigned to my case to call me. They informed me that it may take a while because Cadillac had cut the help center's (including recall department) work hours to save money, while they should have been increasing it during this massive recall. Now I have no car to drive my family in, and no response from Cadillac, with no resolution in site.
I am reporting a serious safety concern involving the 2022 Cadillac Escalade engine recall (GM 6.2L V8, RPO L87). My vehicle is used to tow a trailer regularly. The potential for engine failure due to defective connecting rods or crankshaft components poses a severe risk—especially while towing at highway speeds or on inclines. Loss of power while towing could compromise braking and control, endangering both myself and others. This concern should be escalated for owners who rely on these vehicles for towing. I am asking NHTSA to review how GM is prioritizing recall repairs for towing-use customers and to consider this a higher-risk category for resolution. My current situation is I have an appointment with Williamson Cadillac in Miami to scan the vehicle. If they determine its satisfactory to drive I will be towing a 7000 lb. trailer from Florida to Upstate New York. I'm very concerned that if I lose the engine I will have an exasperated safety issue because of the large trailer. There will be greatly reduced stopping power and limited room to pull off the highway. I need to be in Saratoga Springs with the trailer and its contents before May 19. Please advise, as I do not want to cause a fatal accident that could have been avoided.
I was driving down the road and heard a loud knocking noise then my engine died. I Was unable to get it to restart again.
The contact owns a 2022 Cadillac Escalade. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the engine shut off without warning. Despite the failure, the engine restarted immediately after the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on several occasions; however, the dealer failed to duplicate the failure. The failure persisted, and the contact had the vehicle towed back to the dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed with engine failure. The contact waited two months for parts since the parts were on backorder. After the engine was replaced, the contact stated that vehicle started to hesitate while depressing the accelerator pedal with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the contact was informed that the starter needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact requested a vehicle buyback which was denied. The vehicle remained with the dealer unrepaired. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.

Roughly One year ago 2024, engine failed. Return to dealer , 3 weeks ago 2025, another engine failure. Currently awaiting a replacement engine. Mileage was 30,000 on first time Another approx 10,000 on this one . We were on 8 lane highway at 70 mph.j just went out and would not restart Luckily no cars in rightmost lanes and coasted to edge of the road . Similar scenario first time only on a 4 lane.
Engine The engine shut off at 70mph with no warning and I lost complete power. I had a tractor trailer behind me and one on my left side no power I was nearly killed . Rotolo Chevolet replaced the 6.2L V8 engine Vehicle was inspected by Rotolo Chevolet and they said it was engine failure There was no warning that the Escalade would just shut off at a high rate of speed. It completely just lost power. I only had 85,000 miles on the Escalade. I had taken it to Rotolo Chevolet because I had all the tires changed. While diagnosing my problems with tires they told me of the engine making noise. I had them change the oil but they said it needed a engine. I had no idea this would happen. Does GM want to rob their customers so badly that they would jeopardize their life for GREED. I think the Escalade cost enough.
I was driving on the New Jersey Parkway when my car just shut down in the middle of the road. The dealer believes it’s the engine- how can this happen to a car 2 years old?
On [XXX], while driving my 2022 Cadillac Escalade Premium Sport — which I had just purchased earlier that day — the vehicle suddenly shut down without any warning while I was actively driving on a busy street in Decatur, Georgia. Fortunately, the incident occurred while I was making a turn and traveling at a relatively low speed. I lost all control of the vehicle but was able to coast into the center turn lane and activate the hazard lights to avoid a collision. A police officer arrived on the scene and positioned their vehicle to prevent mine from being struck by oncoming traffic. Although I initially suspected a battery issue, the vehicle still had full electrical power. The officer contacted a towing service, and the vehicle was towed first to my home and later to the Cadillac dealership for evaluation. Today, I was informed by the dealership that the vehicle — which has fewer than 25,000 miles on it — requires a complete engine replacement. I am extremely concerned about the safety implications of this unexpected failure, especially given the low mileage and the fact that the vehicle had just been sold to me. I am submitting this report in hopes that this issue will be thoroughly investigated to prevent similar occurrences for other drivers. I consider myself extremely fortunate to be typing this message today. Given the abrupt and total shutdown of the vehicle, this could have resulted in a very serious accident — or worse. My vehicle is currently at bob Moore Edmond ok. I did not have my car one month before the engine failed. Main bearing went bad. Needs a COMPLETE MOTOR. I am stuck paying for this motor. The wait for a new motor is at least 6-8 weeks
My husband, 2 young children and I were driving on the frontage road to the interstate at approximately 55 miles per hour when the engine suddenly stopped functioning and almost caused a catastrophic wreck with the cars around us. The Cadillac dealership it was towed to evaluated it and determined it had experienced total engine failure. It’s covered in the NHTSA’s investigation into the 6.2 L V8 GM engine.

Driving on the highway under normal load and then all of a sudden motor starts to tic then gets louder and warning comes on saying low oil pressure turn off engine now before I could get off the highway safely the motor completely shuts off once I was safely over and stopped waited for a bit and attempted to restart the vehicle and it wouldn't do anything what so ever that moment I realized that the engine completely seized and left me stranded it showed zero signs of issues before that and completely caught me off guard now I have a 86000 truck sitting in my driveway with no time frame of when it will be repaired
Engine failure while driving on the highway resulting in the vehicle being towed to the dealership and requiring a brand new engine. Being advised by the dealership that this will likely take 3+ months to replace as they have 2 other Escalades in the service department still waiting on a new engine and have been there for over 2+ months.
Incident #1 - exiting a parking garage and the vehicle shut off. My wife was able to pull into a parking spot. the vehicle was towed to the dealer and the resolution was a faulty fuel pump module. Incident #2 - My wife was at highway speed 65mph during rush hour 4 lanes of traffic when without warning the truck engine shut off and the vehicle shifted to neutral. I dont know how but she was able to wrestle the vehicle to the side of the highway where we spent 6 hours on the shoulder which was as wide as the vehicle. This could have ended in a fatality either while getting the vehicle to the side of the road or while waiting for the dealer to have our vehicle towed. --- End result was that the engine locked up. We have been waiting 1 month already for a new engine and per the dealer it may be several months more.

Engine seized at approx 49000kms. Full engine replacement was done by wolfe cadillac. It had something to do with the engine rods.
The contact owns a 2022 Cadillac Escalade. The contact stated while driving at approximately 80 MPH, the vehicle stalled, and the vehicle failed to return to normal operation. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The engine completely failed and shut down without any warning indications while driving 72 mph on [XXX] in Wesley Chapel, Fl. I could no longer accelerate to get out of the way I had to coast to a stop and was able to thankfully make it to the shoulder. The tow company that provided service stated that I was the third or fourth Gm suv that he personally towed in the past week that experienced the same failure on the interstate. Two weeks after purchasing our 2022 slightly used Cadillac Escalade, my family and I were on our annual Thanksgiving camping trip. December 1, 2024 we were on our way back home from this trip on a very busy highway frequented by semi trucks and large RVs (nearby desert camping). While driving and towing a small trailer at approximately 60 mph on this highway, my vehicle unexpectedly shut off forcing me to act quickly to avoid an accident. (Semi trucks and RVs cannot brake and respond as quickly and there were several in the lane next to me, and approaching behind me). I was able to pull over to a shoulder before the vehicle slowed to a complete stop. After attempting to restart my vehicle I was unsuccessful and contacted OnStar to tow me to the nearest dealer. My family and I waited for 5 hours on the side of this highway with semi trucks and RVs passing us at 60 mph. The vehicle was towed to the nearest dealer, yet 100 miles away from our home, and remained in the dealer’s possession for 29 days. The dealer determined my vehicle experienced engine failure and was in need of an engine replacement. I have only owned this vehicle for 1 and a half months.
Driving vehicle between 70-80 miles an hour on the freeway when the car switched into neutral and lost all engine power. No warning lamps or any indication of failure. I was able to steer vehicle to left side of freeway and it had to be towed. It was not a safe location as cars were flying by just feet from the dibbled vehicle. It never started again. Towed to local Cadillac and have been told the car experienced catastrophic engine failure.
Lifters and fuel injectors failed at 45000 miles. Replaced under warranty
As i was driving on the highway in the left lane at approximately 85mph, without any warning lights from the vehicle, the car completely shut off. I had to cross over three lanes of traffic on a busy highway with the car completely stalled out to get to the breakdown lane. The vehicle was towed to my local Cadillac dealership where I was later informed that the engine had completely seized. The service department at the dealership indicated that this is a known issue with the engine in the model year 21-24 Escalades. He indicated that there are faulty bearings that send metal particles through the engine causing it to seize.
This is the second time the car has completely shut off and unable to restart. This is the second time it failed on the interstate. When the car died the car could not be switch to park and had to hold the brake pedal to prevent the car from rolling backward. Second whenever the car was turned of the hazard flashers would turn off. The dealer has previous looked at the car and claimed no problem. This is extremely dangerous to have a car random dying on the interstate. The car at the dealer with often have communication error codes that are just cleared and send you on your way.
While operating my vehicle at speeds exceeding 70 mph in the leftmost lane of [XXX] , the vehicle unexpectedly shifted into neutral. Despite attempts to manually select a driving gear, the transmission failed to engage, causing a rapid loss of speed. In an effort to avoid a potentially hazardous situation due to the decreasing speed in a high-speed lane, I attempted to maneuver the vehicle towards the right shoulder but was unable to because of the oncoming traffic. It became necessary to bring the vehicle to a complete halt, turn off the ignition, and then restart the engine in the left lane with traffic building behind me. The vehicle managed to restart but with difficulty, allowing me to exit the highway and pull into a nearby gas station where it eventually stalled and could not be restarted. - The vehicle displayed no warning lights or error messages prior to or during the incident. - got the vehicle towed to Cadillac dealership for inspection and diagnostic testing. The Engine needs to be replaced - The dealership was unable to provide a conclusive explanation but noted that similar incidents had been reported with this model. - Independent research indicated a pattern of similar issues among owners of the same model, involving unintended shifts into neutral while driving. - Multiple online forums and consumer reports sites have documented complaints regarding this issue. [XXX] - The inability to maintain or control vehicle speed in high-speed traffic lanes presents a significant risk of collision. - Inexperienced drivers may not respond adequately to such unexpected vehicle behaviors, increasing the likelihood of accidents. This incident underscores a critical safety concern that requires immediate attention from both the manufacturer and regulatory bodies. I recommend a thorough investigation into the model’s transmission system by the National Highway Safety Commission.
