The check engine light has been coming on intermittently and the engine has felt rough operating. On December 23, 2025, despite the absence of an illuminated "Check Engine Light", I was driving the vehicle when it suddenly lost power/acceleration in the middle of a busy street, which caused me to nearly get into an accident. I brought the vehicle into the Dealership on 12/29/25, and is still there as of 1/7/26. The Dealership has hooked my car up to the scanner, which found code P0300, and they indicated that it's showing a history of misfires across all cylinders. The Dealership has said that they cannot fix the car because they cannot get the Engine Light to illuminate and because as of 1/7/26, my VIN is not included in part of the widespread Engine recall. My vehicle poses an extreme safety risk to drive, and I do not feel comfortable driving it, knowing that the Engine is misfiring and could lose acceleration or power at any moment and without warning.
Engine failure. Started making a knocking noise on road with my whole family in the car, no lights or warnings on dash and had to pull over and get it towed to nearest dealer. Took a week to get a diagnostic done. Dealer found metal shavings in oil filter believe to be from a connecting rod bearing. Recall 252494000 was done 2,000 miles prior to engine failure. Now dealer must replace engine assembly, engine oil cooler and radiator all due to contamination
Having it at four different dealers have not corrected the infotainment screen, adaptive cruise control phantom braking, electrical display issues such as ambient temperature, malfunctioning fuel gauge. Check engine notification was on, they seem to have corrected that, the next notification was service rear axle. Back up camera fails intermittently. I have had it to the dealer nine times, GM won't do a buy back I guess until they are sued. Also, dealer changed the oil to a thicker viscosity due to the engine recall. All the above ongoing for a full year.
The vehicle died while driving with no warning and had 6,800 miles on it at the time. I received a message to "Push ignition to start" but it did nothing. Had it towed to Cadillac dealership. The engine was replaced. The paperwork that I received says "Large amounts of metal debris in oil. Drained engine oil and found oil to appear silver not brown/black. Suspect major internal failure not allowing engine rotation. Engine requires replacement due to extent of oil contamination with metal debris. I now need to use 0W20 oil. I feel like this isn't solving the problem and I don't feel safe driving this vehicle.
I was driving on the expressway going 75mph in the middle lane when the vehicle said “press start button” and lost all propulsion. I started slowing down rapidly and was unable to get to the right lane as there were vehicles so I merged to the left lane and came to a stop narrowly missed by a speeding driver. The vehicle would not turn back on. I was in the left lane around 2:30pm with rush hour beginning. I did not feel safe waiting for a tow truck so was picked up by a coworker.
While traveling 65 mph on a highway the car turned itself off and shifted into neutral. I was able to make it to the side of the road nearly avoiding a high speed accident. The car was placed in park and restarted. Less than five minutes later it did the exact same thing again. This time forcing me to come to a complete stop on a highway in a construction zone. The vehicle is only a few months old with 9k miles on it.
Engine blew up on the highway and stranded my wife and 4 kids on a busy highway. Catastrophic engine failure on a brand new vehicle. GM is doing nothing to help with the situation. They said the engine is backordered and it might be months before they have a solution. This was a new 2024 $125k vehicle. GM has been terrible to deal with. They Refused a buyback. Dealership had several 2024 in for blown engines.
While driving on a major highway and traveling at 80 mph or so, the vehicle flashed a warning light saying “Press Start Again.” I noticed the gas pedal was no longer responding and the RPM gauge dropped to zero. The vehicle shifted itself into neutral and I was forced to steer the truck to a shoulder and scraped the underside of the front ground effect trim. The vehicle then shifted into park and would not start. When a tow operator arrived, the vehicle could not be shifted into neutral to be towed and the electric parking brake kept activating by itself while trying to load and unload the vehicle from the flatbed. The vehicle is now completely immobile and I’m waiting for information from the dealership.
Engine had a catastrophic failure at 6,232 miles.
ENGINE FAILURE Engine failed at 20k on the highway. The vehicle went into neutral and shut off at 75mph. My wife couldn't get it all the way off the highway and multiple cars about crashed into it. A semi truck locked up his brakes and almost t-boned the car with my wife and kids in it. My wife and 4 kids had to exit the vehicle and run through heavy traffic to get to a safe place. The car wouldn't restart and had to be left in the highway. The wrecker couldn't get the vehicle in neutral to get it up on the flatbed. It had to be dragged in park onto the tow truck. The dealership is saying the engine failed and they have 5 in the shop right now for the same thing. They are saying it will be months before they can get it repaired.
While traveling down I-95 at 65 mph the truck shut down without warning. Extremely dangerous situation. The Cadillac dealership took the truck in and replaced the entire engine. I requested a buy back but was denied. I spoke to the dealership and GM corporate but neither would consider my buyback request.
When accelerating to merge onto highway traffic, engine starting making rattling noise from front left motor and losing power when trying to accelerate. When taken to the dealership stated metal shavings in oil and that we needed a new motor. Dealership would not tear apart motor to see what issue was. Dealership currently had motor. This commonly known defect with gm motors put my family at risk with the loss of power while trying to merge onto highway with cars traveling at highway speeds. There were no warning lights or any check engine lights that came on.
Twice during eight months of vehicle ownership, the vehicle experienced catastrophic engine failure resulting in danger to the health/welfare of the driver. In both cases, the engine has to be totally replaced. The service manager at the dealer acknowledges that Cadillac is selling hazardous/defective products but hopes the vehicle will not experience catastrophic engine failure in the future.
Complete engine failure while driving. Vehicle is brand new with only 6,700 miles
Complete engine failure without warning. Left my family and I stranded on the side of a very busy highway. Dealership confirmed engine failure.
The contact owns a 2024 Cadillac Escalade. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the contact heard a loud ticking sound coming from the engine. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
Mileage: 20,000
Engine start to make tick tick noise. Dealership diagnosed it with Main bearing failure. Replace the LT4 engine.
The contact owns a 2024 Cadillac Escalade. The contact stated while driving on the highway at 75 MPH, the vehicle unintendedly shut off. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and attempted to restart the vehicle; however, the vehicle failed to start. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 9,000. The VIN was unavailable.
Mileage: 9,000
I started my Escalade and 5 minutes later I lost power which as the entire vehicle had no power. So I left it alone for an hour or so in my garage and I started up again and this time didn’t loose power. Everything appeared normal and working again. Than the next day I started it up and I had this popup message SD card has been removed press ok to exit navigation (when no SD card was removed). I also noticed that my backup camera, grid lines, or augmented reality has also intermittently not working on days. It sometimes works as normal and sometimes it does not. The message shows Service Augmented Reality System. The following next day, while I’m cruising on the highway the Escalade shifted into neutral when I was going 75 mph and had no mechanical power. So I pulled over stoped the vehicle and shut it off. Restarted after 15 minutes and it operated normally. I’m worried about Safety since it shifted to neutral at highway speed and lost mechanical power, along with other power issues which is extremely dangerous. This vehicle either is a lemon or there is a unknown manufacturing defect and in both cases needs to be replaced due to egregious safety concern.
