The contact owns a 2012 Cadillac SRX. The contact stated that while driving at night, the contact became aware that the low-beam headlights had moisture inside the headlight housings. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the vehicle was repaired under an unknown recall; however, the failure progressed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

Braking after hitting a pothole was a nightmare! No warning lights came on to prepare me for anything. Brake pedal went to the floor and would not work properly. Finally after getting my vehicle to stop I pulled over pumped my brakes and seemed to work after 5 tries. Toe link recall was “fixed” well not the case. After 2 recalls on the toe link I had a nice bill the cost me $1.450.00 after having to pay for this part. Still haven’t been reimbursed. Also headlights are very dim and can’t see at night!! I’ve asked multiple mechanic shops and no one has an answer for me. So have to use my high beams or else I can’t see anything at night . Very unsafe and no one can help me resolve this issue.

The headlights are very dim It is like driving your vehicle with a flashlight as the lighting. When you turn on bright lights you can see good but your then endangering drivers going the opposite directions It is very dangerous. If you reserch this issue on the internet it is a well lnown problem. How can people drive their cars like this. I did inquire with GM and they said they did at one time reimburse owners to get headlights replaced but that offer expired Well there are people out there driving these Dangerous cars that were not notified of this. I would invite anyone to drive one of these cars and see how bad it is. It is very urgent that someone look at this problem I have seen where there have been recalls over 10 years old . I am trying to get across how DANGEROUS this cars lights are. Left front signal light and right rear signal, other vehicle's cannot see where I am turning, yes where i have my oil changed did their inspection, no problem with the bulbs. yes a mechanic, when turn on the signal to turn right the information center said that the back rear signal had failed and when turning left the information center said the front left signal failed.

The housing for the drive lights have failed. Replacing the bulbs does not resolve the problem. Cadillac wants to replace the entire unit because the plastic reflector has failed. Lots of Cadillac owners reporting this problem on the internet. Cadillac used an inexpensive plastic part that creates high risk when it fails. Vehicle low beam headlights are extremely dim, so dim that to see property at night, the high beam lights must be used constantly. This blinds oncoming traffic and risks a head on collision. General Motors will not replace the headlight assembly. The low beam headlight assembly interior housing is coated with a shiny reflective plastic material. Over time, the heat from the halogen bulb degrades this plastic coating, burning it off. See this YT video here at the 12:13 mark to have a very good understanding. Headlights are very dim and do not provide sufficient lighting at night. This is a known problem with this model and GM has been aware since 2010 that this is an issue. The exterior housing unit fails and allows moisture into the headlight unit and can cause dim lights and shorts. Car is unable to be driven at night without high beams on and this causes distress and blindness to other drivers. The vehicle is available for inspection. This problem has been confirmed by GM in years 2010-2016 and there is a class action suit resulting in recall in California

The front low beam headlights are very dim, due to a leakage defect in the headlight housing. (I have been told that is the reason for the defect by a Cadillac dealership) I feel that it is dangerous for me (I am 78 years old) to drive at night with this situation. There are many other complaints about this same problem as reported on The Cadillac Forum website. I don't know if there has ever been a recall concerning this issue. I purchased the auto in Aug. of 2022. It seems to me that there definitely should be a recall addressing this, with Cadillac making the necessary arrangements to fix the problem. I do not want the new recall part to be the same as the defective part, and have the issue happen again. Thank you. VIN [XXX] My headlights are so dim, it is dangerous to drive at night even after replacing the bulbs for same reason in last year. Called Cadillac of Dublin. [XXX] tells me there is a reimbursement for the headlight assembly as a part of a lawsuit, but I need to bring in car to be sure that’s the problem. [XXX] checked me in, then called with estimate. Headlight Assembly Repair Diagnostic - $179.50 + $1,450 - $1,500 replacement cost Called GM Recall Department Headlight problem no longer has any reimbursement or recourse. Representative: [XXX] Reimbursements were given until 12/2021 Extended to June 30, 2022, which was a hard cutoff I asked how I was suppose to know. [XXX] says I was notified by a Different Team. He investigated and returned with this answer: Next to impossible to locate where mailed. I did not receive the notice. Handled by 3rd party mailing —- Analytics company 1st letter ~ 2020. [XXX] doesn’t think they will look anything up because the case is over now, but thinks it might be worth a try. He states that GM has no additional recourse for me at this time. Class action lawsuits have been filed against General Motors by plaintiffs who allege that moisture can become trapped in the headlights of the Cadillac SRX crossover, posing a potential safety hazard. According to Bloomberg, the lawsuits claims the headlights found in 2010-2015 model year Cadillac SRX crossovers have weather seals that may erode prematurely. This can allow moisture to enter the headlight casing, which may cause the bulb to either dim or burn out entirely. “Such malfunctions will necessarily result in low visibility at best, which can contribute to injurious, or even fatal, traffic accidents,” the lawsuit says. This is a known problem by GM since 2011. My car is a 2012 and assembly wasn’t redesigned or fixed. I’m bought my car in 2019 and did not receive any notice in the mail. This should be a recall! Headlights (low beam) are so dim that driving at night is dangerous. Lines on roads are not visible. Problem is not rectified by replacing bulbs. Something else must be the cause, Car is at the dealership getting assessment and estimate. No warning messages appear. Vehicle was inherited from deceased family member.

The low beam headlight is very dim and I can’t drive at night. I found out there was a recall sent out to owners to repair/replace the low-beam headlights. We didn’t own the vehicle at that time. Apparently the previous owner didn’t take care of. I reached out to Cadillac and GM.. I was told the cutoff for the repairs were May 28,2020. We purchased the vehicle September 3, 2020. It wasn’t an NTSB recall, but a class action. The letter sent to Cadillac owners was dated February 24, 2020. The local dealer gave me a copy but couldn’t do the repairs for reimbursement since the time frame had passed. Attached is the date we took ownership and a copy of the letter sent to owners. I explained to Cadillac and GM we didn’t own the car until after the deadline. No assistance to resolve. My husband and I are on a fixed income. The quote on the form indicates it about $800 per headlight. I see other owners have submitted the same issues. Please let me know if there is anything you can do. Very poor visibility. Head lights turn on but the lens is so cloudy it has severely reduced visibility for night driving. I have been calling GM/Cadillac routinely for at least a month but I feel like I’m getting a run around. On 4/4/22 I was told the problem has been resolved and I would be getting a call to set up an appointment to have the lenses replaced. But I still haven’t heard back. The head lights had already been inspected by a Cadillac service dealer on 3/15/22 and GM/Cadillac was made aware of this and has spoken with the Cadillac dealer so I’m not sure what the hold up is. I’ve been calling to find out but my call gets transferred to voice mail. They do not return my calls. I also made them aware that we are planning to be doing lots of night driving in the next couple weeks for a vacation. So there is a need for the lights to be replaced ASAP. The dealer/service told me that it would cost me $3200.oo to replace the lights but I can not afford them. I do not believe this to be wear & tear or cosmetic. It is a safety issue from an inferior product. I have already started this complaint on 3/31/22 and have a reference # 502594. Thank You

There is excessive moisture in both of my head lights due to this issue unfortunately while driving at night I have to leave my high beam lights on so I can see the road my low beam lights are entirely to dim to see to drive at night due to the water build up in my head lights! Due to this safety issue i am afraid to drive at night in fear of blinding on coming traffic or hurting myself while driving at night! When will they take this issue seriously after people have been injured or get killed while driving lets hope this issue is addressed before this occurs!!

Low beam headlights became really dim making it hard to drive after dark. Headlights show water intrusion (water droplets, fogging) at times. Replacing the headlight bulbs with brighter LED bulbs did not improve the visibility. Necessity to use high beam often is a risk to opposing traffic.

There was a reimbursement program for 2010-2015 Cadillac SRX's due to dim headlights. I didn't have mine fixed during the reimbursement program 1) because the timeline for reimbursement fell during the pandemic and shelter in place orders in my area; 2) I am a high-risk for getting COVID due to preexisting health conditions and 3) my headlights were not that bad. Fast forward to a year later, and I can barely see in front of me due to the diming of the headlights. I am told that Cadillac will not reimburse me because I missed the deadline. The lamps are so dim that I cannot safely drive at night.

I received a letter from Cadillac that they were aware of an issue with the moisture in the headlights on my vehicle, and were offering a credit towards replacement of the headlights. At the time, I did not have an issue, but a year later my lights became significantly dimmer making it unsafe to drive. I reported the issue to Cadillac in July of 2021 and was told to take it to a dealership for a diagnosis to start the claim process. August 4th, I contacted Cadillac again with the estimate and was told I would hear back in 3-5 days. I did not receive a phone call, but emails stating they could not reach me to and to call back. The email was a template that was not filled out and I had left numerous voicemails for my rep, and her supervisor. I contacted the BBB in September and was told they were working with the dealership. On 10/20/21 I received a call at 6:45 am then a response from the BBB stating "to have the work completed and it will be reviewed for reimbursement." The car is dangerous to drive at night, Cadillac is well aware of the issue, and using tactics to avoid correcting a defective part.

The Low Beam head lights put out only enough light to see 10 feet in front of the vehicle at night. Therefore the car can not be driven at night. Neither the driver nor the passenger can see forward enough to prevent any accident. My research has found that this particular model has had many complaints about the issue with little to no resolutions from the manufacturer. Installing new OEM bulbs has minimal effect. I have owned this car since April and can not allow my wife or myself thrive the car after sunset.

The low beam headlights are VERY dim, like driving with night light bulbs. Cannot see in dark, MUST drive with high beams on. Apparently there was a class action suit filed and settled on this matter already, but there was a time limit which we were unaware of.

The contact owns a 2012 Cadillac SRX. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the low-beam headlight bulbs became inoperable without warning. The contact was forced to use the high-beam headlights for the duration of his trip. The headlight bulbs were replaced at the dealer. The contact had initially received a warranty notice from the manufacturer about the headlights that informed him that he would be reimbursed for any out of pocket expenses for his headlights. The dealer informed him that they were unable to reimburse him for the repair and referred him to the manufacturer. Because of the poor design of the headlights on the Cadillac SRX, I was afraid to drive at night because the lights are too dim to see the road ahead. After being pulled over by a police officer for driving with my headlights on bright, I made the financial sacrifice to pay for replacement headlight units. I'm glad I did because it makes a world of difference and I may have saved my life.

NOTIFIED BY LETTER 02.24.2020 FROM CADILLAC GM,LLC OF HEADLAMP/HEADLIGHT ISSUES FOR SRXS 2011-2015. THE REPAIRS AT THE DEALERSHIP WERE CHARGED TO THE CUSTOMER AS STATED IN THEIR LETTER. I WAS REQUIRED TO PAY $1396.00,COMPLETE A PAPER FORM, & MAIL IT WITH RECEIPTS TO A 3RD PARTY. BECAUSE OF A BACKORDER FOR REPLACEMENT PARTS, MY PROBLEM WAS NOT REPAIRED UNTIL OCTOBER 2020. AFTER WAITING FROM MID OCTOBER, I FINALLY RECEIVED MY REFUND IN FEBRUARY 2021. THIS ISSUE WAS SAFETY RELATED FOR DIMMING HEADLIGHTS AT NIGHT. CUSTOMERS WERE FORCED TO PAY UP FRONT TO FIX THE DANGEROUS ISSUE. GM ALSO HAD A DEADLINE OF MAY 28, 2020 TO SUBMIT DOCS FOR REIMBURSEMENT. THIS WAS EXTENDED ONLY FOR CUSTOMERS WITH PRODUCT BACKORDERS. THE PANDEMIC HIT JUST 1 MONTH AFTER GM ISSUED THIS LETTER. WITH JOB LOSSES,ILLNESSES, & DEATHS, GM DID NOT SEND ANY LETTERS MODIFYING THEIR ISSUE FOR SRXS OR OFFERING ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS FOR THOSE IN FINANCIAL CRISIS DURING COVID-19. IN 11/2017 I COMPLAINED TO MY DEALER ABOUT HEAD LIGHT LOW LIGHT PROBLEMS. THEY SAID. THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. I COMPLAINED AGAIN IN 2018. IN 2019 I COMPLAINED AGAIN, THEY REFERRED ME TO AN AUDIO SHOP TO HAVE THE BULBS REPLACED. THAT DID NOT WORK SO I HAD TO REPLACE BOTH HEADLAMPS DUE TO EXTREME SAFETY ISSUES AND NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE AT NIGHT. THEN IN FEB. 2020 I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM CADILLAC THAT THEY KNOW THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE HEADLIGHTS AND THEY WOULD REIMBURSE OR REPLACE THE HEADLIGHTS THAT ARE AFFECTED. I SENT IN ALL PAPERWORK FOR THE HEADLIGHTS AND WAS DENIED ANY REIMBURSEMENT. THEY SIGHTED MULTIPLE EXCLUSIONS (I HAD TO ORDER THE HEADLAMPS OFF OF AMAZON BECAUSE MY DEALERSHIP SAID THEY DID NOT HAVE THEM). CADILLAC NEVER SPECIFIED WHAT TYPE OF PAPERWORK AND SPECIFICS, THEY SAID TO SEND IN ANY PAPERWORK RELATED TO THE REPAIR OF THE LIGHTS, WHICH I DID! THIS ISSUE WITH THE HEADLIGHTS WAS AN EXTREME DANGER. ANYTIME I HAD SOMEONE IN MY CAR AT NIGHT THEY ASKED IF MY HEADLIGHTS WERE ON AND COULD NOT BELIEVE THEY WERE. CADILLAC INITIALLY REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM AND NOW THEY ARE GIVING ME THE ''RUN AROUND' WITH MULTIPLE EXCUSES AS TO WHY THEY WILL NOT REIMBURSE THE REPAIR I HAD TO MAKE FOR THEIR ACKNOWLEDGED SAFETY ISSUE.

THE HEADLIGHTS HAD BECOME VERY DIM DUE APPARENTLY TO A FAULTY SEAL ENABLING MOISTURE TO GET IN. IT MADE IT VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE AT NIGHT, PARTICULARLY WHEN IT IS RAINING. CADILLAC SENT A LETTER ADMITTING THE ISSUE AND OFFERING REIMBURSEMENT, BUT REQUIRES CUSTOMERS TO REPLACE THE HEADLIGHTS ON THEIR OWN THEN SUBMIT TO CADILLAC FOR REIMBURSEMENT. THE FIX AND REIMBURSEMENT PROCESS TOOK ALMOST 9 MONTHS, BUT I WAS IN FACT REIMBURSED. THE ADDED PROBLEM AS I UNDERSTAND IT IS THE REPLACEMENT LIGHTS ARE THE SAME AS THE ORIGINAL LIGHTS, AND ARE EXPECTED TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN IN THE FUTURE. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE HANDLED AS A RECALL DUE TO SAFETY AND DIFFERENT MORE RELIABLE HEADLAMPS USED.

AFTER A HEAVY STORM, I ATTEMPTED TO START MY CAR THAT WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY, BUT NOTHING IN THE CAR WOULD RESPOND TO THE KEY FOB OR PUSH TO START. AFTER JUMPING THE BATTERY, WE WERE ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE, HOWEVER, THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS WERE ERRATICALLY SHUTTING OFF AND RESTARTING. THE GAUGES AND SYSTEM LIGHTS KEPT BLINKING AND TURNING OFF. THE ENGINE BEGAN TO SMOKE, SO I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. THERE WAS A MUSTY SMELL WHICH PROVOKED ME TO SEARCH FOR WATER INTRUSION. THE FRONT FLOORBOARDS WERE SOAKING WET. I COULDN'T GET THE LIFTGATE OPEN, SO I CLIMBED INTO THE REAR AREA AND FOUND COMPARTMENTS THAT HAD STANDING WATER. THE REAR CARPETS WERE ALSO WET. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE STORM CAUSED DEBRI TO CLOG THE SUNROOF DRAINS CAUSING THE OVERFLOW PANS TO POUR INTO THE VEHICLE. THIS CAUSED THE LIFTGATE MODULE TO INITIATE A PERPETUAL SIGNAL TO THE BATTERY CAUSING IT TO DIE. I ALSO HAD WATER AND FOGGING BUILT UP IN THE HEADLIGHT COVERS REDUCING THE LAMP OUTPUT. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE, I FOUND THAT IT IS A VERY COMMON DESIGN FLAW THAT GM REFUSES TO ADMIT OR EVEN COVER REPAIRS BEYOND THE INITIAL MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY. THIS IS VERY DISCONCERTING BECAUSE I'M SURE THE ISSUE WILL HAPPEN AGAIN WHEN THERE'S A RAIN DOWNPOUR, AND IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THE WATER CORRODES THE LIFTGATE MODULE OR OTHER ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS. WATER AVOIDANCE IS NOT AN OPTION. I FEEL THAT GM SHOULD OWN THIS PROBLEM THEY CREATED AND PROVIDE A PERMANENT SOLUTION TO THE ISSUE.

THE CONTACT THEN RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM CADILLAC IN REGARDS TO THE HEADLIGHTS, THAT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE WITH THE HEADLIGHTS. THE LETTER GAVE THE CONTACT INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO RECEIVE A REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE HEADLIGHTS IF THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED OUT OF POCKET. THE CONTACT THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE SHE HAD THE HEADLIGHTS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO HAD THE DRIVER'S SEAT REPAIRED OUT OF POCKET DUE TO THE SEAT MOVING BACK IN FORTH WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS THEN NOTIFIED OF THE REPAIR THAT WAS MADE TO HER HEADLIGHTS. THE MANUFACTURER THEN INFORMED HER THAT HER VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER RECALL AND THAT SHE WAS NOT ENTITLED TO A REIMBURSEMENT. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ALSO DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V447000 (SEATS) WHICH SHE LINKED TO THE SEAT FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,878.

INSTEAD, AS A 2012 CADILLAC SRX CUSTOMER, I RECEIVED A LETTER IN FEBRUARY NOTIFYING ME THAT THE EXPENSE OF REPLACING THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD BE REIMBURSED IF I GOT THE WORK DONE AND RETURNED THE CLAIM FORM WITH SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION BY 5/28/2020. I HAD THE WORK DONE ON 5/15 AT A COST OF $1,261.15 AND MAILED MY PAPERWORK FOR REIMBURSEMENT. I HAVE SEVERAL CONCERNS. FIRST, DIM HEADLIGHTS ARE A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION IN MANY CIRCUMSTANCES.FREQUENTLY, I USED MY BRIGHTS TO SEE A SHORT DISTANCE. THIS COULD BLIND ONCOMING DRIVERS AND CAUSE INJURY TO THEM AS WELL AS CADILLAC CUSTOMERS. SHOCKED THE CAR PASSES STATE INSPECTION, IT IS THAT BAD. RECENTLY I STAYED OVERNIGHT IN A HOTEL IN MISSOURI RATHER THAN DRIVE AT NIGHT THROUGH OKLAHOMA ON DARK, WINDY HIGHWAY 69 BACK HOME TO COLLIN COUNTY. SECOND, CADILLAC NEVER ISSUED A RECALL. A RECALL WOULD NOT REQUIRE AN UPFRONT CUSTOMER CASH OUTLAY. FINALLY, I HAVE READ THAT THE HEADLIGHTS ARE BEING REPLACED WITH PARTS THAT HAVE THE SAME MOISTURE SUSCEPTIBILITY, SO THE DIM HEADLIGHTS PROBLEM CAN EVENTUALLY RETURN. I THINK THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE RESOLVED WITH AN IMMEDIATE RECALL, WITH DEFECT FREE PARTS AND WITH NO CUSTOMER CASH OUTLAY, JUST LIKE ANY OTHER CAR SAFETY RECALL. NOTHING HAS HAPPENED YET TO ME. I AM REQUESTING AN INVESTIGATION FOR A RECALL ON THE CADILLAC SRX 2010-2015 FOR FAULTY HEADLIGHTS. THE CADILLAC DEALERSHIP QUOTED A REPLACEMENT COST OF $3,393.50 THIS MORNING 3/7/2020. THE DEADLINE DATE FOR REPAIRS IS 5/28/2020. I AM ASSUMING THIS IS FROM A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT, WHICH FAVORS GM AND LEAVES THE CONSUMERS AND DRIVERS WITH ALL THE RISK. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR ANYONE DRIVING IN POOR CONDITIONS OR IN THE DARK. I DO NOT HAVE CAR CRASH STATISTIC; HOWEVER, THIS IS A FAULTY DESIGN THAT SHOULD BE COVERED 100% BY A GM RECALL. NOT EVERYONE CAN PAY FOR THIS UP FRONT AND/OR COVER THE ADDITIONAL UNCOVERED COST. HEADLIGHTS ARE DIM DUE TO KNOWN DEFECT. THE LIGHTS ALLOW MOISTURE TO ENTER AND CORRODE THE COMPONENTS AND FOG AND/OR DISCOLOR THE LENS WHICH CAUSE THE HEADLIGHTS TO BE DIM AND DANGEROUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A LETTER WAS RECEIVED IN REGARD TO THE ISSUE AND THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN UNKNOWN DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 27,000.

THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ON A 2012 CADILLAC SRX 4 THAT I JUST PURCHASED ARE TOO DIM TO DRIVE AT NIGHT. I HAD TO DRIVE WITH THE HIGH BEAMS ON WHICH CAUSES A HAZARD TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC, BUT I LITERALLY CAN NOT SEE THE ROAD WITH LOW BEAMS ON WHICH IS VERY LIKELY TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I HAD SOMEONE PULL RIGHT OUT IN FRONT OF ME, PRESUMABLY BECAUSE THE LIGHTS WERE TOO DIM FOR THEM TO SEE ME COMING. I HAD PEOPLE FLASHING THEIR LIGHTS AT ME AND ONE PERSON TOLD ME AT A RED LIGHT, THAT MY HEADLIGHTS WERE OFF. I HAD TO GO STRAIGHT HOME AND HAVEN'T DRIVEN THE CAR SINCE. IT IS A STATE LAW IN NC THAT HEADLIGHTS NEED TO BE ON WHEN WIPERS ARE BEING USED. IF THE HEADLIGHTS AREN'T VISIBLE IN THE DARK, THEY DEFINITELY WON'T BE VISIBLE IN THE RAIN. THE HEADLIGHTS ON THIS VEHICLE ARE SO DIM THAT IT APPEARS THEY AREN'T ON AT ALL EVEN IN THE DARK. AFTER READING ALL OF THE REPORTS OF THIS, I CAN'T IMAGINE HOW THIS HAS NOT BECOME A SAFETY RECALL?!?! IT SEEMS LIKE EXACTLY THE TYPE OF THING THAT A MANUFACTURER SHOULD HAVE TO CORRECT WHEN THEY BECOME AWARE OF IT. THIS IS, APPARENTLY, NOT AT ALL AN ISOLATED OCCURRENCE.

IT IS NOT A COINCIDENCE THAT THE HEADLIGHT ISSUE IS ALL OVER THE NATION! GM KNEW OF THE PROBLEMS FROM 2010 TO 2015, AND DID NOT CORRECT THE DEFECT OF THE SEALING GASKET, OR WHATEVER THEY CALL IT. CONSUMERS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR DEFECT THAT WAS KNOWN ABOUT AND IGNORED. IF YOU WILL LOOK ONLINE ON VARIOUS FORUMS AND BLOGS YOU WILL SEE THERE ARE A LOT OF US THAT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. I LIVE IN FLORIDA BUT PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN CONNECTICUT AND THEREFORE RECEIVED NO ASSISTANCE, EVEN THOUGH MY VEHICLE IS JUST AS UNSAFE DRIVING IN FLORIDA AS THE ONES GM/CADILLAC PAID TO FIX. THE NIGHT LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT OUTPUT IS ABYSMALLY LOW, TO THE POINT THAT THE HEADLIGHTS FROM FOLLOWING CARS PROVIDE MORE ILLUMINATION THAN MY VEHICLE'S OWN HEADLIGHTS. USING HIGH BEAMS IS BENEFICIAL WHEN THERE IS NO ONCOMING TRAFFIC; HOWEVER, THERE IS VERY OFTEN ONCOMING TRAFFIC. BECAUSE GM/CADILLAC IS VERY AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND IS UNWILLING TO ADDRESS IT, AND BECAUSE DRIVING AT NIGHT WITH INSUFFICIENT HEADLIGHT ILLUMINATION IS CLEARLY A SAFETY HAZARD, I BELIEVE THIS IS EXACTLY THE SITUATION IN WHICH THE NHTSA SHOULD FORCE REMEDIAL ACTION.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CADILLAC SRX. WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WERE VERY DIM. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO SEE THE ROAD AND HAD TO USED THE HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MASSEY CADILLAC ORLANDO NORTH (4241 N JOHN YOUNG PKWY, ORLANDO, FL 32804, (855) 934-7395) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT COMPONENTS ON BOTH SIDES NEEDED TO BE REMOVED TO BE ABLE TO REPLACE THE HEADLIGHTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.

MY LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE EXTREMELY DIM. UPON DIAGNOSIS, THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE WIRING OR THE BULBS BUT THERE IS A DEFECT WITH THE HEADLIGHTS ON THE 2010 TO 2015 CADILLAC SRX'S. IT WAS EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THE SEAL FAILS AND ALLOWS MOISTURE IN THE HEADLIGHT WHICH CAUSES A HAZE TO BUILD UP IN THE ENCLOSED LIGHT COVER WHICH IN TURN MAKES THE LIGHTS DIM. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE AT NIGHT BECAUSE I CAN'T EVEN TELL THAT THE LIGHTS ARE ON ESPECIALLY ON A DARK STREET OR HIGHWAY. WHEN I DID SOME RESEARCH AND SPOKE WITH GMC/CADILLAC I FOUND THAT GMC/CADILLAC HAS A RECALL ON THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY IN TWO STATES ONLY-CALIFORNIA AND FLORIDA EVEN THOUGH THE PROBLEM IS MORE THAN LIKELY NATIONWIDE. THERE IS ALSO A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST CADILLAC/GMC FOR THIS DEFECT.

CADILLAC SENT ME A LETTER SAYING THAT IT WAS A ' MANUFACTURE MALFUNCTION' SINCE THEY DIDN'T LIST IT AS A RECALL THEY STATE THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING THE PROBLEM. THEY GO OUT RANDOMLY SOME LAST A COUPLE WEEKS SOMETIMES THEY LAST A COUPLE DAYS IT COULD BE WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY CITY STREET TURNING OR EVEN SITTING THERE. I PROVIDED THE QUOTE THEY REQUESTED ME TO GET. YET IT HAD TO BE PAID AND COMPLETED 90 DAYS AFTER THE LETTER. I DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY LAYING AROUND AND 90 DAYS ISN'T ENOUGH TIME TO COME UP WITH THAT KIND OF MONEY.

THE MOISTURE BUILDUP IN THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY LEADS TO REDUCED LIGHTING AND EVENTUALLY THE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY BURNS OUT LEAVING THE CAR OWNER WITH NO LIGHTS. I JUST HAD THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY REPLACED AS MY LIGHTS WENT OUT AT NIGHT WHILE DRIVING IN FEBRUARY 2019. MOISTURE IS ALREADY BUILDING IN THE NEW HEADLIGHT WHICH WILL MOST LIKELY FAIL AGAIN. NOW THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT ON 07/04/2019 REQUIRING REPLACEMENT. THE MOISTURE BUILD UP IN THE HEADLIGHT AFTER HEAVY RAINS REGARDLESS IF THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY OR MOVING.

THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS DO NOT PUT OUT ENOUGH LIGHTING UPON THE ROAD TO SAFELY NAVIGATE AT NIGHT. I HAVE REPLACED THE BULBS, BUT THAT DIDN'T HELP ANY. I HAVE ALSO INSTALLED A SET OF AFTERMARKET FOG LIGHTS WHICH HELPS A LITTLE BIT, BUT NOT SO MUCH WHEN IT IS RAINING OR WHEN ENCOUNTERING GLARING LIGHTS FROM ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I HAVE READ THAT IF YOU BUY AND REPLACE THE ENTIRE LENS ASSEMBLY THAT WILL FIX THE ISSUE OF WATER LEAKS INTO THE ASSEMBLY, BUT MINE DON'T LOOK LIKE THERE HAS BEEN ANY MOISTURE INSIDE. THE AVERAGE COSTS OF THAT ENTIRE PART IS OVER $300 EACH. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE THAT THE ROUND LENS WITHIN THE ASSEMBLY APPEARS TO BE A MAGNIFYING-TYPE LENS THAT RESEMBLES THE TYPE OF PRIVACY GLASS COMMONLY USED FOR SHOWER DOORS AND WINDOWS. I DRIVE WITH THE HIGH BEAMS ON UNTIL CHALLENGED BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC, BUT THEN WHEN I RESPOND ACCORDINGLY I MUST COME ALMOST TO A COMPLETE STOP OR RISK LEAVING THE ROAD ALTOGETHER.

THE LOW LEVEL HEADLIGHTS IN THIS SRX HAVE BEEN DIM, TO THE POINT OF BEING NO BRIGHTER THAN THE PARKING LIGHTS. MY FRONT HEADLIGHT ARE A HAZARD. I'VE HAD THE BULBS CHANGED MULTIPLE TIMES TO NO AVAIL. I HAVE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT WITH MY BRIGHT LIGHTS ON. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO GM, AND THEY AREN'T TRYING TO FIX THE PROBLEM, THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE LIGHT SEALS. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED.

I BOUGHT A 2012 CADILLAC SRX ABOUT 4 MONTHS AGO. THE HEADLIGHTS ARE A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE! I THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS ONLY MY VEHICLE BUT AFTER READING DOZENS OF COMPLAINTS, THIS IS A MANUFACTURER ISSUE THAT CADILLAC NEEDS TO ADDRESS ASAP! I CANNOT SEE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT WITHOUT TURNING ON HIGH BEAMS WHICH CREATES ANOTHER SAFETY ISSUE FOR ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I AM NOT ELDERLY OR SOMEONE WITH VISION PROBLEMS AND WHEN I CANNOT SEE THE WHITE LINES JUST A FEW FEET IN FRONT OF ME, IT IS RIDICULOUS! I HOPE CADILLAC REALIZES THE LIABILITY OF THIS ISSUE AND THAT IF SOMEONE IS INJURED OR KILLED BECAUSE THEY CANNOT SEE, THEY WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. THERE ARE FAR TO MANY COMPLAINTS FOR THEM TO IGNORE THIS! I AM STUCK NOW WITH A VEHICLE THAT IS USELESS IF YOU CANNOT DRIVE IT WHEN YOU WANT! THE MOMENT I CAN GET ENOUGH PAID OFF, I WILL BE SELLING IT AND NEVER BUYING ANOTHER CADILLAC PRODUCT.

GM DEALER TOLD BY GM TO ROUTINELY PASS THE EXTREMELY DIM LIGHTS AS WITHIN SPECS TO ESCAPE WARRANTY PERIOD, EVEN THOUGH THE LIGHTS ARE OBVIOUSLY TOO DIM UNTIL FINALLY BECOME TOTALLY DARK ON LOW BEAM AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRES BUT OFFERS NO WAY TO FIX. GM OFFERS NO METHOD TO FIX EXCEPT TO INSTALL NEW HEADLIGHTS FOR A $2,000 TEMPORARY MEASURE THAT REQUIRES REMOVAL OF THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE CAR, WHILE ALSO ADMITTING THAT ISSUE IS CERTAIN TO RE-OCCUR. HEADLIGHT BULBS ARE ALREADY REPLACED WITH NO IMPROVEMENT. GM DENIED TO REPAIR OR COME UP WITH AN IMPROVEMENT AND SAYS NOTHING FURTHER WILL BE DISCUSSED WITHOUT A RECALL.

THE CAUSE HAS BEEN TRACED TO FAULTY SEALANT AROUND THE FACTORY HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY WHICH ALLOWS MOISTURE INTO THE CHAMBER, RUINING THE BULBS. I AM FORCED TO USE HIGH BEAMS WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT, BLINDING ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND THUS CREATING A DANGER TO THE PUBLIC. THIS HAZARD AFFECTS 2010-2015 MODELS. AFTER READING OF THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS IN CALIFORNIA AND FLORIDA, I CONTACTED CADILLAC TO SEE IF THEY WOULD REPLACE MY HEAD LIVES. BECAUSE I AM OUT OF WARRANTY, THEY WERE ON WILLING TO WORK WITH ME, EVEN THOUGH THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE. THE ONLY WAY TO USE THE CAR IS WITH THE HIGH-BEAMS TO GET ENOUGH LIGHT TO DRIVE SAFELY, BUT THIS IS RUDE (AND UNSAFE) FOR OTHER DRIVERS. WE AVOID USING THE CAR AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. AFTER LOOKING UP THE PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET, IT APPEARS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT CADILLAC HAS NOT ADDRESS. LOOKS LIKE SOMEONE HAS EVEN FILED A CLASS ACTION SUIT IN CALIFORNIA TO TRY AND GET THIS PROBLEM ADDRESSED.

GM IS WELL AWARE OF PROBLEM AND OFFERS NO SOLUTION FOR THE REPAIR AS THE SAME DEFECTIVE PARTS ARE INSTALLED AT A HIGH COST, BUT PROBLEM REMAINS. THERE ARE AT LEAST TWO CLASS-ACTION LAWSUITS WHICH HAVE BEEN FILED. PLEASE TAKE THIS TO THE NEXT LEVEL WITH GM, HAVE THEM TAKE CARE OF THIS DEFECT AND PROTECT CONSUMERS.

I FIND THIS AN ISSUE WHEN THERE IS NO OUTSIDE DAMAGE TO MY HEADLIGHTS. WHEN I CONTACT A GENERAL MOTORS THEY DON'T HAVE THE DATA TO PROVIDE THE QUANTITATIVE NUMBERS THAT HAVE BEEN REPLACED FOR THIS MAKE AND MODEL YEARS. DRIVING WITH HIGH BEAM IS THE BEST LIGHT PERFORMANCE BUT BLINDING TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND DRIVERS.

I AM REQUESTING THAT THIS SAFETY ISSUE IS INVESTIGATED BECAUSE THE DEALERD WANT THE VEHICLE OWNER TO PAY FOR REPLACEMENT HEADLIGHTS, STATING THAT REFLECTIVE FINISH INSIDE THE HOUSING DOES FADE AND STOP PROJECTING THE LIGHT AS ORIGINALLY DESIGNED. WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT I CAN BARELY SEE MAYBE 6 FEET IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN PASSING ONCOMING LIGHTS FROM VEHICLES 1 OR 2 LANES OVER, MY LIGHTS ARE WASHED OUT AS PITCH DARK(BLINDED). THE FIRST CONCERN WAS DUE TO A LEAK IN THE SUNROOF SHORTING OUT A CIRCUIT BOARD THE TAILGATE OF MY VEHICLE NEARLY SHUT ON MY SON AS HE WAS ATTEMPTING TO REACH IN TO REMOVE AN ITEM FROM THE CARGO SPACE. HE DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS CLOSING AND THERE MUST NOT BE A WORKING SAFETY FEATURE BECAUSE IF I HAD NOT SCREAMED IT WOULD HAVE CLOSED ON HIM. SECONDLY, THE HEADLIGHTS AND BRAKE LIGHTS HAVE STARTED FLICKERING WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION. THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ALREADY OVERLY DIM DUE TO A MOISTURE PROBLEM, BUT NOW THEY FLICKER AND WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT THIS IS NOT SAFE. THE DASH BOARD LIGHTS ALSO GO OUT MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE THE SPEED YOU ARE DRIVING. YOU CAN HEAR WATER SLOSHING INSIDE THE CAR AND YOU CAN HEAR THE ELECTRICITY CRACKLING ALSO. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE FOR MY SON BUT HE CANNOT DRIVE IT DUE TO SO MANY SAFETY ISSUES. I CALLED GM AND THEY BASICALLY BLEW ME OFF LIKE SO MANY OTHER CUSTOMERS WITH THE EXACT SAME ISSUES. I SPOKE WITH 2 REPS OVER THE PHONE AND TRIED THE LIVE CHAT FEATURE. ALL 3 REPS SAID TO TAKE IT TO A LOCAL CADILLAC DEALER AND PAY HUNDREDS FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TO BE RUN AND ACCORDING TO ALL OF THE OTHER UPSET CUSTOMERS I AM LOOKING AT HAVING THOUSAND IN REPAIRS. HE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT QUIT WORKING ON MY 2010 SRX LAST WEEK. THERE'S A LOT OF CONDENSATION IN THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE LOCAL CADILLAC DEALER TOLD ME THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY MUST HAVE BEEN BUMPED AND THE SEAL COMPROMISED. THE COST TO FIX IT IS $1,250 PLUS 2 HOURS LABOR AND TAX. THE CAR IS WITHIN THE TIME WARRANTY BUT OUTSIDE THE MILEAGE WARRANTY. HE WAS VERY CLEAR THAT GM WOULD NOT HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM. I GUESS GM TRAINS THEIR DEALERS TO BLAME ALL PRODUCTS THAT PROVE DEFECTIVE AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRES ON THEIR CUSTOMERS. THIS IS MY THIRD CADILLAC AND I'VE HAD MORE PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR THAN THE OTHER TWO COMBINED.
