Braking after hitting a pothole was a nightmare! No warning lights came on to prepare me for anything. Brake pedal went to the floor and would not work properly. Finally after getting my vehicle to stop I pulled over pumped my brakes and seemed to work after 5 tries. Toe link recall was “fixed” well not the case. After 2 recalls on the toe link I had a nice bill the cost me $1.450.00 after having to pay for this part. Still haven’t been reimbursed. Also headlights are very dim and can’t see at night!! I’ve asked multiple mechanic shops and no one has an answer for me. So have to use my high beams or else I can’t see anything at night . Very unsafe and no one can help me resolve this issue.
I had Baker Cadillac Dealership to perform the toe-link recall as well as a Multi-Point Vehicle Inspection on May 28, 2025. This is for a 2012 Cadillac SRX-3.6 Luxury Collection [VIN: [XXX]] that I was going to purchase for my [XXX] daughter pending the inspection results. Because Cadillac technicians performed the inspection and nothing major was flagged, I purchased the car for my daughter. That evening, I was driving the car to fill up with gas, and the brakes completely cut out! I talked to a friend who knows more about cars than I do, told me the brakes cutting out was likely a result of the recall repair needing to reset to the proper values. I didn't think too much of it after that until 5 days ago when I was on [XXX] driving at 70 mph, the brakes completely cut out again. The road was wet and they cut out as I was exiting off an interstate overpass onto a ramp which circles back toward the direction I was coming from that ultimately feeds onto the road underneath the exit. I fishtailed side to side the entire length of that ramp that has no barriers at a lethal speed which could’ve killed me! If my daughter would've been driving, the outcome would’ve likely been fatal! I contacted the dealership who performed the recall installation and the Multi Point Inspection and told them everything that happened. I wanted answers as to why this wasn't caught during inspection, what exactly caused that to happen twice in less than 10 days, and what needs to be fixed to prevent this from ever happening again. I paid Firestone to perform a comprehensive test on ABS and they could not replicate the issue, so they couldn't do anything to fix it as everything appeared to be fine. No system lights came on or anything. I have since learned that this is far from an isolated issue; in fact, this is quite a scary pattern with the 2012 SRX 3.6. While driving the pedal will go all the way to the floor and suddenly your break line will be full of air.The car's hard to stop. This is the second time it's happened. Really scary, almost in an accident.
My Headlights are so dim, I have to drive with high beams. It is raining in my, short circuited the trunk, will not open and my bearings have to be replaced. Sounds like a truck. Ughhhh, IMy first and last american made car.
The contact owns a 2012 Cadillac SRX. The contact stated that the brakes were replaced for routine services at a local dealer. The contact then stated that while driving at an unknown speed, she drove over a pothole and while attempt to stop the vehicle, the brakes failed to respond as needed. The contact stated that the brake failure reoccurred after driving over potholes and then depressing the brake pedal. The contact stated that no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to determine the cause of the brake failure. The independent mechanic informed the contact that replacing the front brake pedals could possibly help with the brake failure. The front brake pedals were replaced; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic who was also unable to retrieve a fault code or determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

The headlights are so dim it’s a very bad safety issue. I’ve replaced them 3 times , still same problem. Everybody I have talked to has the same problem with theirs. Something has got to be done. I’m going to call the head of Cadillac if it doesn’t get resolved. My guesses keep blowing and it’s also wearing the tires out to quick
So while driving the stabilizer light came on and it swerved when I went to hit my brakes to stop the car because I was heading across a bridge the brake somehow lost power and I pushed and it didn’t do anything by the time I got the pressure to come back I guess after pushing a few times it was too late and I rear ended another vehicle and completed pushed in the entire front on my truck. This is the second time the light came on but the first time it swerved and then the brakes going out shouldn’t have happened because I got the brakes replaced earlier this year
driving 40mph and the brakes started having issues. the pedal had to be pressed all the way to the floor and pumped to get the car to stop. from my research I see that this is a very common issue with this vehicle. this is a major safety issue that's going to eventually lead to a fatality if it hasn't already. if this is not a safety issue and a manufacturers defect then I really don't know what is
The brakes get soft and go almost to the floor at times. This usually happens after having to brake hard for a sudden stop. It takes constant pumping of the brakes for them to work properly again. I just had my brakes checked and the pads and rotors are good, so the problem could not be diagnosed. There have been no warnings or alerts for this problem and no recall letters. This is definitely a safety concern because braking hard for sudden stops is sometimes necessary to avoid a crash. This has been happpening for about 8 months. Mileage is 105,000.
On multiple occasions I have experienced an unexpected temporary loss of braking. Peddle went to the floor requiring pumping of brakes to come to a stop. It lasts days and unexpectedly returns to normal. No warning signal to check brakes etc. For days after I have to pump the brakes and adjust my braking response time in order to avoid hitting another car. Each time this happened I have had it checked and nothing found. I’m from Florida and summer in RI. I had the vehicle checked in RI last year? Twice in FL. I have noticed ot happens during inclement weather or hitting an unexpected hole in the road. The last time this happened was several days ago on the MA turnpike during a rain storm. Very scarey and very dangerous. The brakes went back to normal but only after a week. I went on the car websites and realized it was happening to others too. With Cadillac! I spend a lot of time on the highway and a quick braking response is vital.
WE WERE TRAVELING ON A CITY STREETS AND THE BREAK SYSTEM ON THE VEHICLE WAS WORKING PROPERLY UNTIL WE HAD TO DO A HARD BREAKING EMERGENCY STOP AT APPROXIMATELY 25 TO 30 MPH. THERE WERE ICY CONDITIONS AND WE SLID THROUGH AN INTERSECTION. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE EMERGENCY BREAKING, AND WHEN WE APPLIED THE BREAKS AGAIN, THE BREAK PEDAL HAD NO RESISTANCE AND THE BREAK PEDAL WOULD SLOWLY GO THE FLOOR WITH LITTLE OR NO BREAKING ACTION. A INSPECTION UNDER THE VEHICLE DID NOT REVEAL ANY FLUID LEAKS TO INDICATE A RUPTURE OF THE SEALED BREAK SYSTEM. RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET SUGGEST THAT A VALVE MAY HAVE BECOME STUCK OPEN IN THE ABS CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY REVERTING FLUID BACK TO THE MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR AND NOT TO THE WHEELS. IF THIS IS THE CASE, THIS COULD POTENTIALLY BE A SAFETY HAZARD FOR AN UNSUSPECTING DRIVER OF ANY BREAKING PROBLEMS WHILE CONTINUING TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AFTER HARD BREAKING. THE MILLAGE ON THE VEHICLE WAS APPROXIMATELY 53000 MILES. I HAVE NOT FOUND ANY RECALLS ON THIS PROBLEM BUT, I THINK IT MAY BE WARRANTED BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED.

IN FEB. 2019 MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR CAUSING ME TO RUN A RED LIGHT. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT. THE PROBLEM DID NOT REPEAT AND I DROVE IT IMMEDIATELY TO THE DEALERSHIP WHICH COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM AND REPLACED ALL PARTS WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSED IT. THE BRAKE PEDAL AGAIN WENT TO THE FLOOR IN FEB. 2021 WHEN EXITING A STORE PARKING LOT AND NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED. AGAIN TOOK TO DEALERSHIP WHO DID NOT FIND A PROBLEM.

A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO TOW LOT. THE CONTACT STATED HE CALLED USED DEALER AND WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED AS OF YET. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 133,000.

THE HEADLIGHTS ARE TOO DIM. I CAN'T SEE AT NIGHT AND ESPECIALLY IF IT IS RAINING. I HAVE AVOIDED GOING OFF THE ROAD MORE THAN ONCE. I HIT A FOX ON A BUSY ROAD BECAUSE I NEVER SAW IT DURING A RAINY NIGHT. MY BRAKES HAVE PRESSED TO THE FLOOR MANY TIMES. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T SEE IT. IT IS INTERMITTENT. YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN YOU WILL HAVE NO BRAKES. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN IF I MAKE A SHARP TURN, HARD STOP OR GO OVER A ROUGH SURFACE. THIS IS LIFE & DEATH.AND SCARY. SOMEONE WILL GET HURT OR DIE.I PURCHASED THE CAR IN 2019 AND IT HAPPENS TO THIS DAY,NOVEMBER 2020.

AFTER GOING OVER A POTHOLE THE BRAKES SEEMED TO GIVE OUT. THE CAR WAS GOING AT A SPEED OF 20 MILES PER HOUR AND WAS APPROACHING A STOP SIGN. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND THE CAR DID NOT COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. I HAVE SEEN THIS ISSUE REPORTED BY OTHER CADILLAC SRX OWNERS BUT THERE IS NOTHING ON THE CADILLAC WEBSITE REGARDING IT.

WHILE DRIVING AND WITHOUT WARNING, I HAVE MINIMUM BRAKING POWER. I MUST SMASH THE PETAL TO FLOOR IN ORDER TO STOP AT A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. USUALLY, I'M NOT GOING MORE THAN 35 MPH. THIS HAPPENS AT LEAST 2-3 TIMES PER MONTH. I FEAR I WILL HAVE AN ACCIDENT. TWO DIFFERENT REPAIR SHOPS COULD NOT ID THE PROBLEM. THE OTHER ISSUE IS WHEN DRIVING, THE DASH LIGHTS AND THE HEAD LIGHTS WILL SUDDENLY DIM, WHERE I AM BARELY ABLE TO READ ANYTHING OR SEE. THESE PROBLEMS ARE TRULY A HAZARD AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE.

FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS, MY BRAKE PEDAL HAD GONE TO FLOOR AT RANDOM TIMES WHILE DRIVING UNTIL IT WAS FINALLY DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED RECENTLY. WHEN IT WOULD HAPPEN, ABOUT THE LAST 10% OF PEDAL TRAVEL WOULD HAVE SOME LIMITED BRAKING POWER. AFTER THIS ISSUE WOULD OCCUR, IT SOMETIMES TOOK UP TO DAY OR LONGER FOR IT THE PEDAL TRAVEL TO RETURN TO NORMAL. SOME COMBINATION OF REPEATEDLY PUMPING THE PEDAL, STOPPING/STARTING THE ENGINE, AND QUICKLY PRESSING THE PEDAL WHILE STOPPED WOULD EVENTUALLY RESTORE THE BRAKE PEDAL TO NORMAL. AFTER EXPERIENCING THIS SEVERAL TIMES OVER 2 YEARS, I REALIZED IT WAS TRIGGERED AFTER THE ABS SYSTEM WAS ACTIVATED ' DURING A HARD/PANIC STOP, SLIDING ON SNOW/ICE, OR BY SOME OTHER DRIVING EVENT THAT BRIEFLY TRIGGERS ABS. FOR EXAMPLE, HAVING MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN AND HEADING DOWN A HILL AT ABOUT 15 MPH TRIGGERED THE ABS (I COULD HEAR THE PUMP AND FEEL THE PEDAL PULSATING) AT THE SAME SPOT ON MY WAY TO WORK EACH MORNING. I LEARNED TO NOT USE MY BRAKE WHILE MAKING THAT TURN ON THAT ROAD EACH MORNING. SOME SRX OWNERS IN FORUMS REPORT PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AFTER A SPEED BUMP ' WHICH I SUSPECT IS ALSO TRIGGERING THE ABS SYSTEM DURING THE 'HOP' OVER THE SPEED BUMP. MY CADILLAC DEALER WAS UNABLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM ' AND SAID THEY WOULD JUST BE GUESSING AT THE PROBLEM SINCE THERE ARE 'NO CODES' OR ERROR MESSAGES ON THE DASH. MY LOCAL MECHANIC SUSPECTED THAT THE ABS CONTROL MODULE HAD AN INTERNAL VALVE/SEAL LEAK/FAILURE. THE THEORY IS THAT ONCE THE ABS ACTIVATES AND DIVERTS FLUID TO THE WHEELS THAT HAVE TRACTION (STILL SPINNING), THE ABS VALVES/CHAMBERS WOULD 'STICK' OPEN. THE TWO AC DELCO PARTS COST ABOUT $450 ON AMAZON PLUS ABOUT $300 LABOR. REPLACING THESE PARTS FIXED MY PROBLEM AFTER 2 YEARS OF EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE CONSISTENTLY IMMEDIATELY AFTER ABS HAD ACTUATED.

THIS TIME IT HASN'T CORRECTED AND THE VEHICLE IS UNDRIVABLE DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS. I HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED HOME.

I PURCHASED MY 2012 CADILLAC SRX4 NEW WITH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. ONE MONTH AFTER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY RAN OUT THE BRAKES STARTED GOING TO THE FLOOR AND I CAN BARELY STOP THE VEHICLE. SHOULD A CAR PULL OUT IN FRONT OF ME OR GOD FORBID A CHILD, I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO STOP MY CAR IN TIME TO AVOID AND ACCIDENT. I TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO HUBER CADILLAC IN OMAHA, NE ON 10/14/2019 AS MY BRAKE PEDAL ONCE AGAIN WENT TO THE FLOOR MAKING WHAT SOUNDS LIKE A RUSHING OR AIR SOUND. THIS HAPPENED FOR SEVERAL MILES EVERY TIME I HAD TO COME TO A STOP. THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE A PROBLEM. THEY STATED THAT THEY ALSO DROVE THE VEHICLE AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. SHE, BEV BURGESS, ALSO ADVISED ME THAT SHE HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM AND THAT CADILLAC HAD NO BULLETINS PERTAINING TO ANY BRAKE PEDAL ISSUES. I WOULD SUGGEST THAT YOU READ THE INTERNET AS THERE ARE AT LEAST 100 PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM AND SEVERAL WHO HAD CAR ACCIDENTS DUE TO THE ISSUE. SINCE HAVING MY CAR INTO THE DEALER TRYING TO HAVE IT FIXED, THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED THREE MORE TIMES. THIS IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE SOLUTION TO ALLOW PEOPLE TO DRIVE YOUR VEHICLES THAT COULD AND HAVE CAUSED ACCIDENTS TO NO FAULT OF OUR OWN. I HAVE DONE ALL REQUIRED MAINTENANCE TO MY VEHICLE AND FEEL AS THOUGH I HAVE DONE MY DUE DILIGENT. I CANNOT SAY AS MUCH FOR CADILLAC. I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED.

RECENTLY, THE VEHICLE DOES WHILE DRIVING IF IT GOES OVER A SPEED BUMP, POT HOLE, OR SOMETIMES FOR NO REASON AT ALL. THE PETAL SINKING WHILE BRAKING NOW LAST FOR SEVERAL DAYS UP TO WEEKS. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS ONE DOESN'T KNOW HOW MUCH PRESSURE IS NEED TO STOP AT ANY GIVEN TIME. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE SHOP AND NOTHING HAS BEEN FOUND TO BE WRONG. BRAKES HAVE BEEN BLED, ROTORS AND PADS CHANGED AND THE CAR STILL DOES IT AT RANDOM TIMES.

BRAKES SUDDENLY GO TO FLOOR. CAUSING DELAY IN STOPPING. ALMOST HAD ACCIDENT. HAD BRAKES AND ROTORS REPLACED AND STILL LOSING BRAKES WITHOUT NOTICE. THEN THEY COME BACK. HAD SERVICED AND CHECKED AND THEY CAN'T FIND PROBLEM . HAS HAPPENED ON STRAIGHT DRIVING AND TURNING INTO DRIVEWAY NUMEROUS TIMES.

THE BRAKES ARE SPONGY AND WOULD OFTEN TIME NEEDED TO BE DEPRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO WORK. FURTHER ONLINE RESEARCH SHOWED THAT THOUSANDS OF OTHER CADILLAC SRX OWNERS ARE HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM, SOME LED TO SEVERE CRASHES. IT ALL APPEARED TO BE SIMILAR WITH MY PROBLEM WHEREAS THE BRAKES WOULD FAIL WITHOUT ANY WARNING, EVEN AFTER IT HAVE BEEN SERVICED. THE PROBLEM OCCUR AT RANDOM BUT ALSO WHEN GOING OVER SPEED BUMPS, AND MAKING TURNS.

VEHICLES BRAKE PEDAL WILL RANDOMLY LOSE PRESSURE AND GO TO THE FLOOR. HAD TO PUMP BRAKES IN ORDER FOR IT TO GO TO A ROLLING STOP. HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED AND AT FIRST THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG BECAUSE THE PRESSURE BUILT BACK UP HOWEVER WHEN HE TOOK IT FOR A DRIVE THE LAST TIME THE MECHANIC ALMOST GOT IN AN ACCIDENT. THEY REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER HOWEVER IT DID THE SAME THING ABOUT A MONTH LATER. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE REGARDING THIS ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE AS THERE ARE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE EXACT SAME THING WITH OWNER OTHER OWNERS. SOMEBODY'S GOING TO EVENTUALLY GET KILLED. IM THINKING ABOUT TRADING MY VEHICLE IN FOR THIS VERY REASON AND BECAUSE THERE HAS BEEN NO ACTION TAKEN WITH THE MANUFACTURER.

WHEN WE PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD I HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKES TO GET THE CAR TO STOP. THERE WERE NO PHYSICAL INJURIES AS I WAS MAYBE GOING 2 OR 3 MPH. WE EXCHANGED INSURANCE INFORMATION. I NOTIFIED MY INSURANCE OF THE CLAIM AS WELL. I HAD BOUGHT MY DAUGHTER A 2010 CADILLAC SRX WHEN I BOUGHT MINE AND 6 WEEKS AGO SHE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH BRAKE FAILURE BUT SHE WAS ABLE TO PUMP THE BRAKES TO GET HER CAR TO STOP. WE TOOK HER CAR TO ST. CLAIRE CADILLAC IN SANTA CLARA AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG AND NO ERROR CODES WERE IDENTIFIED IN THE ON BOARD COMPUTER. I SEARCHED THE WEB AND THERE ARE MULTIPLE INCIDENCES OF THIS PROBLEM OCCURRING WITH CADILLAC SRX MODELS BUT CADILLAC WILL NOT FIX THIS PROBLEM. I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS PROBLEM HAS RESULTED IN ANY DEATHS IF SO THE DRIVER MAY NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO REPORT THE INCIDENT. CADILLAC NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS! NEEDLESS TO SAY I WILL BE SELLING MY SRX AND BUYING A TOYOTA.
