My headlights have deteriorated to the point that the vehicle can’t be driven at night. GM/Cadillac acknowledged this as a problem with this particular model. I sent an email to the Cadillac CEO, Rory Harvey. I received a call from an executive assistant stating that this issue was addressed prior to my report. I stated I could not use the vehicle at night due to safety issues. Her response was to offer me a discount on a new purchase. My vehicle now has a significant safety issue. The Cadillac dealer quoted my a price of $2,600 to replace the headlights.

problems with low beam headlights, which often resulted in dimness, fogging, or premature burnout due to faulty weather seals that allowed moisture into the headlight housings I’ve owned more than 5 cadillac srx different models from 2010-2016 and they all have this problem. I can’t see anything after changing the headlights low beam bulbs and the dealer told me to change the headlights assembly and it’s pretty pricey It’s an safety issue because I can’t see the roadway and I can’t turn my high beams on all the time due to will affect other drivers on the opposite side of road.

The headlights are a safety hazzard. The dealership that I purchased the car from, did not inform me of the extremely low headlights. They insist it passes PA guidelines. But they are in fact too low to drive safely at night. It's as if there are no headlights on at all. I found out there WAS a recall on these headlights. But only until 2019. Cadillac is no longer under any obligation to fix the problem. REALLY? That should have been a full recall on the hazerdous headlight for ALL of these vehicles. Not just some. Why would they allow these poor headlights to be on the road at night? Are they waiting for someone to get killed in a horrible accicent?

Lights became so dim it was impossible to see at night. I replaced the bulbs multiple times with no remedy. I also had the outer shell cleaned which still did not help. I had to finally have the whole assembly replaced.

2015 Cadillac SRX is unsafe to drive while using its low beams after dark, and after having its High and Low Beam bulbs replaced. I purchased this car used in March 2024 for my wife. She only occasionally drives but never at night. In April I drove it when nearly dark and thought the low beams were very dim. I called the dealer and asked about getting warranty coverage and was told it had too many miles. I drove it again late September. It was dark and the low beams barely lit the road in front of me. I could hardly see going around curves, and it would have been too late to avoid a deer stepping in front of me. That night I realized It was absolutely too unsafe to drive my wife’s Cadillac after dark. I researched changing the bulbs and decided suing a body shop would be the best call. I also decided to use Sylvania SilverStar Ultra - High Performance Halogen Headlight High Beam, and Low Beam replacement bulbs. The body shop replaced all my bulbs in December. Feeling all was well, we drove my wife’s car out for an early New Year’s dinner. On the drive back the lighting was slightly improved, but still unsafe to drive after dark. Is correcting this issue something Cadillac should l pay for under the 2019 law suit settlement?

I purchased two different types of bulbs and paid to have them installed and there are not bright enough Just like other people with the same problem I can't see at night and here in Maine it gets dark by 4:00 and driving at night is so very scary. The intensity of headlights on this vehicle is dangerously low. When searching for a solution on light, I found that this particular problem was the subject of class-action lawsuit. I am the original owner of this vehicle. I was not informed or part of this lawsuit. Now I am told that it will cost $2.500 to replace the headlamps because moisture that leaks into the light housing has caused the lights to dim. Driving at night is now increasingly dangerous. Apparently, Cadillac has recognized this as a problem through the lawsuit. Loyal owners like myself need to have this problem corrected at no cost because it is a recognized part defect.

HEADLIGHTS!!! The headlights are so dim that other drivers flash me, honk at me or yell at me to turn my lights on when driving at night. When driving at night It is the same as driving without my headlights on. I have to use the high beams to drive at night. I changed the fuses, changed 1 of the bulbs and still no difference. I am writing to express my serious concerns regarding a critical safety defect in my 2015 Cadillac SRX. The low beam headlights are dangerously dim, rendering night driving extremely hazardous. Despite GM's awareness of this defect, as evidenced by technical service bulletins and customer satisfaction campaigns, no adequate solution has been provided. My warranty has expired, but this defect is not due to any action on my part; it is a clear manufacturing flaw. The moisture accumulation within the headlight assemblies leads to electrical failures and corrosion, significantly impairing visibility. I had the same headlight issue with my 2011 Malibu and the pains it took to replace the headlights and wiring has been an unnecessary hassle. Do you know that they charge $200 to replace Malibu headlights? Is that reasonable? Speaking of the financial burden of repairing defective headlights, for the Cadillac SRX, the estimated repair cost is between $1,500 and $5,000, is unreasonable and unacceptable, especially considering the systemic nature of this problem. GM’s proposed reimbursements have been insufficient and do not address the root cause, as replacements continue to use the same flawed components. Several lawsuits have been filed against GM due to these defective headlights. The plaintiffs in these cases have reported severe safety hazards, including accidents caused by the dim headlights. One plaintiff stated, "I had an accident due to the low beam lights on my 2012 Cadillac SRX. It was still dark at 5:30 AM when I failed to see the outer road turned which caused me to collide with a curb and become airborne. This accident caused 3 blown-out tires and 2 ruined rims. This cost me $1700 and it was all caused by the extremely dim low beam headlights". Another plaintiff mentioned, "We are afraid of driving our car, a 2015 Cadillac SRX, at night because you can not see. Later we learned that there is an inherent problem with the design of the headlight assembly seal

The headlights are ineffective. It is like driving without headlights at night. Had bulbs replaced but did not improve lighting. Moisture on inside of windshield. On cold evenings the inside of the windshield is frozen. March 21, 2024 the tailgate will not open. It appears this is a common complaint with this vehicle caused by drainage from the sunroof leaking onto the module that powers the tailgate.

There is a known safety issue with the factory headlights as they are far too deem at night. Unsafe to drive. I had to pay money out of my pocket to replace the headlights as Cadillac no longer replaces them. There should be a permanent recall and coverage for this. Please investigate this issue as this should not be something an owner should have to pay when it clearly is an issue with the manufacturer.

Headlights full of condensation, dirty foggy lense, not enough illumination. Bulbs burning out and have become so dim you can't drive at night and not at all in the rain. Very dangerous. November 24, 2023. Purchased car used in October 2023, and did not drive other than during day light. Took car on a 7 hour trip to Uniontown, PA from Virginia Beach. Could not see the road after 5 pm. It was dark and raining. I had to slow down to a stop in the road until passing cars went by. The headlights on the srx were so dim I could not see the sides of road or the lines painted on road. I contacted Cadillac customer service and they told me take it to dealer to get assessment And not to drive at night in the meantime. My ability to see the road was impossible. I had to practically stopped briefly in the road as oncoming cars passed by. I could only guess that I was still on the road until another car approached from behind to illuminate the road in front of me. It was very dangerous. I am a seasoned driver and I have a older 04 SRX that has original lights and no issues like this 2015 model. Very bad parts. The headlights are a Dangerous driving hazard to both driver, passengers, oncoming cars and cars following if in the road at night. GM needs to do a recall and replace these lights with aftermarket product. Bad manufacturing has made even the OEM replacement unsatisfactory. They will just go bad again.

I purchased this vehicle used and missed the short period they would replace them. Just bought this vehicle and it is undrivable at night due to the dim low beam headlights. This seams to be a problem with these vehicles from 2010 to 2016. I called GM customer service and was given a number for GM analytics (1-888-305-1605), the recording states that the time to be reimbursed has passed and that they are no longer taking any further claim submissions. GM has settled class action lawsuits in Florida and California for this issue and sent letters to some SRX owners offering reimbursement for repairs.

Unbeknownst to me, the 2010-2015 Cadillac SRX is prone to moisture in the headlights. We just bought a used 2015, and as night came, we went for our first evening drive, and the low beams are extremely dangerously dim. It looks like they weren’t even on. Searching the internet on how to fix the problem, I came across what seems to be a ridiculous amount of unsatisfied customers with the same problem and Cadillac refusing to help or recall with a different replacement, since replacing with the same damaged part, just happens again with the moisture problem. There’s even been a lawsuit, which was thrown out by the judge. If a driver has a blown bulb anywhere in their car, they are given a warning to replace or a ticket if they don’t. How do we replace something that’s going to fail again, because of a defective manufacturer part? Doesn’t seem fair, and I for one will be driving with my high beams, so that I can see at night, after spending my hard earned money on what i think is a great and reliable car made by a company like Cadillac. Very disappointing to read all the neglected customers just trying to have a defective part be recalled and made right by such a huge company. There was also a reimbursement program that people struggled with getting reimbursed if it wasn’t done exactly how they stated. This need your attention please. Cadillac/GM needs to recall all srx headlights and replace with newer and non defective ones before someone gets killed because of the dangers of extremely low dimming and defective lighting SAFETY FIRST

However, I did notice that the headlights seemed very dim the past few months and was trying to figure out if it was a setting issue (automatic/manual/etc.) or actual headlamp issue. Nothing worked. I decided to checked online for headlamp issues, I see that there has been an ongoing issue with many people regarding the defective Cadillac headlamp issue. The lighting mechanism is defective and lets moisture accumulate inside the unit, causing corrosion to the lighting system. Other people having the same problem have been unable to seek restitution at this time. I went to my dealership and presented the problem to them. They agreed the headlamp units were failing and needed replacement; however, it would not be covered under any recall or my bumper- to-bumper extended warranty. I found out that GM stopped making restitution in June 2022. In reviewing online complaints, this problem has been going on for quite some time in 2015-2020 Cadillacs. If this is a recurring problem due to defective parts, why is it not covered, and how can they justify no longer giving any type of restitution? Shouldn't there be reimbursement/replacement (RECALL) to anyone and everyone with this problem?

However, I did notice that the headlights seemed very dim the past few months and was trying to figure out if it was a setting issue (automatic/manual/etc.) or actual headlamp issue. Nothing worked. When I made a 100 mile drive in the dark, I had virtually no headlights. It was very scary and dangerous. When we checked online for headlamp issues, I see that there has been an ongoing issue with many people regarding the defective Cadillac headlamp issue. The lighting mechanism is defective and lets moisture accumulate inside the unit, causing corrosion to the lighting system. I see some people have been reimbursed $800(+/-) for replacement of those headlamps (EACH headlamp part cost me $900). Other people having the same problem have been unable to seek restitution. I went to my dealership and presented the problem to them. They agreed the headlamp units were failing and needed replacement; however, it would not be covered under any recall or my bumper- to-bumper extended warranty. I ended up having to paying $2,500 for this repair of defective parts. They suggested I call GM. I did. GM said they stopped making restitution in June 2022. They offered a $100 oil change certificate. In reviewing online complaints, this problem has been going on for quite some time in 2015-2020 Cadillacs. The dim headlights must lose their reflective material around them as they get dimmer with age. I've replaced the headlight bulbs with stock headlight dim bulbs and there wasn't any improvement in visibility. I then replaced the bulbs with the brightest ones NAPA has and minimal improvement. I asked my car mechanic about this and he said they are known for this. He had just replaced the whole assembly for one two days prior to my coming in. Replacement cost $2000 with still having this defect occur again. The bright headlights work excellent. Makes it hard to drive with any visibility at night. Please review this safety issue.

There was a defective light headlamp recall issued in year 2020 for my vehicle 2015 SRX Cadillac. This was during the COVID pandemic. The recall started around March 2020 and ended June 2020. I was affected by COVID 19 as many were and I missed that window by a couple weeks. There was a noticeable dimming with my headlamps when driving at night. This issue has threatened me and my family putting our lives at risk. I took my vehicle back to Steve Foley Cadillac where I purchased it and it was confirmed that the headlamps were defective and needed replacement. Management in parts department told me I had to contact GM to get their approval to replace my headlamps in writing or I would have to pay out of pocket (2000.00 +) because the recall had expired by a couple weeks prior to getting my vehicle in for inspection. I continued to reach out to GM with many phone calls thru emails and texts they continued to say someone will call me back or e-mail me but it never happened. The safety and care of customers should never be compromised or ignored when catastrophic outcomes are present.

Headlights grew dimmer and dimmer, creating a serious danger for night-time driving. The problem was confirmed by the local dealer. Both front headlight assemblies were replaced by the dealer at a cost of $2,460. The problem appeared over 2 years ago, but it gradually deteriorated, especially since the vehicle was a second car and not driven often at night. No warning lamps or symptoms until one night we were on the highway and realized it was a huge, scary safety issue as we were not visible to other drivers on the highway, and vice versa.

Without the high beams on at night, the reduced headlight performance prevents me from seeing more than 5 feet in front of my car. There was no warning--the lights simply dimmed to the point where I thought I didn't turn them on--but they are automatic on, just dim. The dealer has told me I need to fix the entire headlight assembly, at a cost of $2800.

I have extremely dim headlights. I have to drive with my high beams on but they are dim as well. I had the dealership look at the lights and was told that the bulbs are fine but there is a known issue with the seal and water getting in and corroding the lens so the light can't pass thru. I was told Cadillac won't recall it but know about it and it will cost me $2600 to replace the entire assembly. I was also told it won't pass inspection like this. I can barely see and that is a huge safety issue for me. I struggle to drive at night. I work in downtown Houston and drive over an hour up and back. I drive home in the dark and am struggling to see to drive. Im a single mom of two...$2600 is just not possible for me. In addition I was told by the service team that when they first found out about this...they offered discounts but you had to pay in full first, then file a claim but they are not offering discounts any longer. I NEED TO BE ABLE TO SEE WHEN I DRIVE! This is not just a repair. This is a factory defect that should be fixed immediately under a recall. I will put today's date on the when, but my lights have gotten dimmer and dimmer over 2 years and now are dangerously dim.

Since I purchased this car secondhand, the headlights are very dim at night, and it is unable to see in the dark, unless if I have my highbeams on which is a big safety hazard. The class action act expired by the time I purchase a vehicle, and I was unaware of this at the purchase of the vehicle. I have been in contact with two different aftermarket warranty companies, and they are refusing to cover it, in contact with Cadillac and oh, they suggested it was an aftermarket warranty. I have been unable to get coverage for something I believe I should since it is a safety hazard and that is not anything at my fault.

Low Beam Headlights are extremely dim and do not safely light road for night time driving. Took automobile into Cadillac Dealership and requested that headlights be tested. Mechanic documented that both headlights were below standards and recommended that both headlight assemblies be replaced. The Dealership mechanic explained that simple replacement of light bulb would not remedy problem and that the entire headlight assembly needed to be replaced at a cost of $1,200 EACH. My local mechanic has confirmed that he has tried to replace only light bulbs on other SRX's and all types of light bulbs have failed to increase the light intensity. This is definitely either an engineering and/or manufacturing defect where a car owner needs to spend over $2,300 to obtain adequate safe headlight lighting. The Cadillac SRX is a very popular model and being a model under 10 years old there are many drivers out on the roads driving at night with unsafe lighting being provided by their OEM automobile. I request that a recall be issued for this significant safely issue.

The SRX is known to have issues with the headlight assemblies. I even received a letter from Cadillac that informed me that moisture may get into the assemblies, which causes them to fail. The moisture shorts out the assembly which greatly dims the bulb. On one particular night in Michigan, I had to drive with my high beams on just to be able to see the road. I had just replaced the bulbs so they were brand new, but I had zero visibility. I have reached out to Cadillac regarding this issue, but they do not feel that it warrants a recall. Currently I have replaced both assemblies and bulbs for my own safety. Cadillac has verbally stated to me that it is not a safety concern. I'm pretty sure if you can't see the road at night, that would be considered a major safety concern.

Continuous Struggle with the performance of my vehicle’s headlights. I feel like I am driving blind at night unless I turn my Brights on. I have a 2015 SRX and my low headlights are really dim. My 2015 SRX HEADLIGHTS are pretty useless, I got the lens cleaned up and they are not clouded but the light is so dim making it unsafe for me to drive at night. I did some research and found there has been a class action lawsuit filed over Cadillac SRX headlight performance and there are numerous complaints on this by so many frustrated Cadillac owners. My dealer is asking for $1700 to fix the headlights. I feel this is a safety issue and GM should be responsible to resolve the issue. The problem exists from day 1 since I bought the car.

The headlights are very, very dim when driving the vehicle at night. They are getting progressively worse. Before I took ownership of the vehicle, it was owned by my elderly parents, (82 and 88), both recently deceased. In the years prior to their deaths, they drove much less and hardly ever at night. It wasn't until I took ownership that my wife and I began to notice just how dim the lights were when driving at night. I took the car, which then had 52K miles on it back to Bentley Cadillac in Huntsville, AL, where it had been purchased to have it's latest recall performed. I also paid $1350 to have the climate package controls replaced, which hadn't worked properly for years. I was preparing the vehicle to sell as I was left with too many vehicles and too few drivers. A potential buyer test drove it and part of the drive was at night. They came back saying what we had noticed previously, that the headlights were too dim for safe nighttime driving. The buyer, who had previously expressed very strong interest did not follow through with the purchase as she stated that she felt the vehicle was unsafe to drive at night, which, of course, would seriously limit the vehicles usefulness to her, or, to anyone else for that matter, including myself. I looked at the internet to try and ascertain whether there were others having similar problems with vehicles like mine. Indeed, there were many describing exactly the problems I had been experiencing. The seals on these SUV's were and are continuing to break down allowing moisture into and the headlights, making them defective and unsafe to drive. While I found no active recalls, Cadillac had previously acknowledged the problem by reimbursing some owners for repairs they themselves had paid for up-front around the year 2020. I contacted the Cadillac and the dealership. The best they did was to offer between around $400 and $600 toward a repair that was going to cost between $1600 and $2K, or more by the time is was completed.

There have been ongoing complaints about the headlights on this car. I avoid driving my car at night due to the fact that visibility is compromised. I had a SERIOUS near miss while driving at night. I was driving on a residential street and did not see a bicyclist going the same direction. The bicyclist veered slightly into my lane and I literally DID NOT see them. Causing me to clip their rear tire causing them to loose control and hit a curb. This is SERIOUS! The police said the headlights on my car were clearly a hazard! In my mind it would make sense for GM to replace the headlights rather than having to pay for a wrongful death lawsuit.

The Cadillac SRX SUV state inspection was rejected for defective headlamps on 4-1-2022( both low beam headlights not bright enough). Prior to purchase the state inspection was conducted by the dealership (Wells Auto Group in Mckinney, Texas). I was not aware of any problems with headlights (Dim). I notice while driving those dim beam lights were not putting out much light on darker not well-lit streets. I thought maybe this is the way the dim beams supposed to be. No. I have not seemed any warning lamps, messages, or any notification from General Motors (GM) on this safety problem. The safety of my family and others is at high risk when there is not proper lighting for headlights beams.

The headlights are so dim I can't see at night without putting my bright lights on. The dealership is aware of the problem, they say there was a rebate given not a recall. I was told it would still cost me over $600 in addition to the $1600 the manufacturer was giving as a rebate. The problem with that was the letter I received stated the headlight would frost over due to moisture. Since my headlight did not look frosted I choose not to get them repaired. After driving one night on a road with no lights I saw how bad it really was. I had the light bulb changed, that did not help any. So I went back to the dealership that's when the mechanic explained to me that it was the inside light housing that holds the bulb had what was light a "cataract" and the only fix is changing the whole headlight unit. This could cost more than $2000. The date to use the rebate has passed.

Headlights problems with this 2015 Cadillac SRX that only has 56k miles. I had just bought this car and on the way home from the dealership I had to use my high beams to see anything on my hour trip. The low beam lights are so low you can not even tell that they are on at all. How did this pass inspection? This could cause an accident. It is not safe driving at night. I was given no information about this defect when I bought it. There are not warnings lights on the dash system. There are many other people complaining of this very problem. The entire headlight assemblies need to be replaced according to research. Why is there not a recall on this? It's very dangerous!

The headlights incur condensation inside the headlight body, which makes the light from the headlights very dim. At night, this creates a very serious safety concern. 1. Other cars are not able to see you at night. 2. The driver is unable to see the road or other objects at night. There apparently was a lawsuit in 2 states on this safety concern, which they won. The low beam headlights are extremely dim, and it is a commonly known issue with these Cadillac SRX models. This is a 2015, but all owners of these model years complain of the same issue. There was a class action lawsuit previously on these headlamps, it focused on moisture entering the headlamp assembly. I had the Cadillac dealer inspect, they determined there was no moisture degrading the lamps. So nothing was done. The lamps are very dim and dangerous at night. Again, a common srx owner issue. The Cadillac dealer yesterday suggested just using the high beams all the time, or replace the low beam 55 watt lamps with 65 watt high beam type lamps. Not sure that would be best solution. Also, they wanted $1400 to change the lamps in this scenario. Again, back to the safety issue, these low beam lamps are dangerously dim. No doubt someone has had an accident due to these, fortunately I have not (yet)

The Low-beam headlights are so hot they are melting the reflective coating off the headlamp housing causing the headlights to not project. This is a safety issue that needs to be addressed asap. When driving at night you cant see 15 ft in front of you without the high beams. I have spoke to Cadillac and this is a known issue. Last night there was a pedestrian walking down the side of the road and i was unable to see him and almost hit him.

I noticed while driving at night, my headlights are extremely dim. After researching the problem, I discovered that there is a problem with the headlights having to do with moisture and corrosion and that Cadillac is aware of the problem, but will not issue a recall. There are several lawsuits pending including a Class Action filed in Detroit, MI. I contacted the dealership who informed me that Cadillac was paying for customers to have the lights fixed on a reimbursement plan. However, Cadillac stopped that program. It is an extremely dangerous situation to not have the headlights work properly. Cadillac should do a recall and fix this problem.

In February 2020 Cadillac notified me "that a small number of model year 2010-2015 SRXs may experience issues that could cause moisture to accumulate in their headlamp capsules and/or cause Halogen headlights to become dimmer over time." (Claim Number [XXX]) At that time I had no issues but I have this issue now, as diagnosed by my dealer. The dim low beam headlights make the vehicle undriveable at night. I have replaced the actual headlight bulbs but the problem as per the dealer is "moisture has damaged the deflectors". My dealer and Cadillac (case #[XXX]) have offered a 10% discount on the estimated $2,300 repair cost. I believe this to be a serious safety and quality issue. Also, SRX owners have been treated unfairly with 2010 model year owners receiving 10 years of replacement coverage and all others getting less. Low beam headlights have become so dim as to be unusable, exascerbated when the auto-dimming goes unexpectedly from high to low beam. It’s as if someone just turned the car’s lights off, so options are to 1) drive on constant high beam, blinding other drivers; 2) drive on low beam, blinding me; 3) not drive at all at night. Low beams are so dim as to be dangerous, not only for passengers, but also for people, animals and property outside the vehicle. Visibility is so incredibly poor as to not illuminate a pedestrian in a crosswalk early enough to facilitate a safe stop. Nothing in writing from the dealer, but agent aware of the problem with no fix. The problem is constant, not intermittent. Became most apparent approximate 37000 miles, while driving a winding road, returning from Soboba casino at night. Vehicle has a little over 40000 miles now. No warning lamps, messages. There are enough online complaints to wonder why GM has not recalled for repair. Is GM awaiting for a certain injury or death toll?

Bought this car used, first time after dark realized headlights were not shining well enough to drive. We parked the vehicle until we could purchase and replace complete headlamp assembly. Multiple internet sites were found where other owners had same issue. We paid $300 for a set of replacement assembly and installed ourselves, otherwise it would have cost $1000 at the dealer. We went with this option because Cadillac items were not recommended, as they would fog up again in a short amount of time.

Headlights so dim can't see to drive after dusk. contacted Cadillac inquired about recall, they're aware of this issue with this model and year no recall even with safety issues. I researched this and numerous srx with same problem some resulting in accidents with injury. Cadillac told me to take it to dealer and pay about $1000. Per side to replace with same defective lights and housings plus labor. Please look into this issue and help those of us in need of being able to see while driving after dusk. It is almost impossible to drive at night without high beams. I have been pulled over twice and given warnings about my headlights. It is very hard to navigate driving especially when other drivers can barely see my car. I have driven over curbs, crossed lane lines, and have been unable to see turning lanes. Other cars have have had issues seeing my car due to the low lights and this has led to some other very close calls. The situation is very unsafe and risky. The malfunctioning of the lights have pretty much rendered my car useless after dark or in rainy weather. I have spoken to numerous individuals at both the local dealership and GM to no avail. I have been told so many different stories and given differing plans of actions. The dealership people told me to wait on a letter from GM/Cadillac. After weeks, ai contacted GM/Cadillac who also told me to wait on a letter. After another few weeks and still without a letter, I contacted GM/Cadillac again and that's when the real "runaround" began. Two years later, my headlights are even worse and I don't really drive my car that much out of fear. I continue to contact GM/Cadillac at least once or twice a month to no avail. My car was inspected by a dealership who confirmed that I indeed have headlight/headlamp issues due to a GM problem with the production of the headligh/headlamp assembly which collects moisture. They also confirmed that GM should have sent me a reimbursement letter. My car is available for anyone who needs to inspect it. I just don't understand how a company such as GM who claims to be of excellence and such quality will not repair and take responsibility for it's mistakes and production errors.

TOOK TO AN AUTO SHOP WHO INSPECTED AND SUGGESTED HEADLIGHT BULBS BE REPLACED. DROVE A COUPLE OF NIGHTS AND STILL HAD LOW VISIBILITY. TOOK BACK TO AUTO SHOP AND AFTER AN INTENSE INSPECTION, DISCOVERED THE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. LOOKING ON THE INTERNET, WE DISCOVERED THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH MANY OTHER CADILLAC SRXS. I WROTE A LETTER TO GM DESCRIBING MY SAFETY CONCERNS WITH THE VEHICLE. I WAS CONTACTED BY A CUSTOMER SERVICE PERSON, WHO IN TURN, PUT ME IN CONTACT WITH A LOCAL CADILLAC DEALER. THE DEALER THEN PUT ME THROUGH TO THEIR SERVICE REP, WHO TOLD ME THEY COULD DO NOTHING FOR ME, THAT THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. ALL REPAIR WORK WOULD BE OUT OF POCKET. THE SERVICE REP TOLD ME THAT GM HAD SENT OUT LETTERS TO CADILLAC OWNERS REGARDING THE HEADLIGHT REPAIRS, AND THAT THE TIME HAD EXPIRED. I TOLD HIM I DIDN'T OWN THE CAR AT THAT TIME, SO I WAS UNAWARE OF ANY LETTER, AND THE PREVIOUS OWNER EVIDENTLY DIDN'T HAVE IT REPAIRED. THE COST TO REPLACE THE BOTH HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES IS $1,950.00. SINCE THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEM OF DRIVING AT NIGHT WITH LOW VISIBILITY, I AM REQUESTING THAT NHTSA HELP GO TO BATTLE WITH GM AND DEMAND A RECALL TO FIX THIS PROBLEM ON ALL CADILLAC SRX VEHICLES BEFORE THERE ARE ACCIDENTS, OR WORSE YET, A DEATH, CAUSED FROM THE LACK OF VISIBILITY WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. FAST FORWARD, I HAVE CALLED IN TOO MANY TIMES TO RECALL BEING TOLD VARIOUS THINGS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD MY CAR WAS NOT IN THE REIMBURSEMENT PLAN, . WAS TOLD I MISSED THE TIME FOR MY REIMBURSEMENT. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHO SAID THAT GM HAD OFFERED TO PAY CLOSE TO $800, BUT WHEN THEY PUT IN A CALL THE SERVICE WAS DENIED. AFTER SUBSEQUENT CALLS, I WAS GIVEN THE RUN-AROUND YET AGAIN. TWO WEEKS AGO, I WAS TOLD TO TAKE MY CAR TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC ON THE HEADLIGHTS/HEADLAMPS. THIS WHOLE THING HAS BEEN RIDICULOUS, AND I KNOW THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FROM READING. AT WHAT POINT DOES THIS MATTER?

IN RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM, IT APPEARS THERE ARE TENS OF THOUSANDS OF 2010-15 SRX'S THAT HAVE UNSAFE HEADLIGHTS. BUT YET, NO RECALL. I AM WONDERING HOW MANY MORE COMPLAINTS IT WILL TAKE? THEN TO ADD THE TWO LAWSUITS, AND STILL NOTHING EXCEPT FOR A HALF-HEARTED LETTER FROM CADILLAC "OFFERING" TO REIMBURSE THE OUT-OF-POCKET EXPENSE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE HEADLIGHTS ON MY CAR ARE VERY DIM. IT IS DIFFICULT TO SEE ANYTHING AT NIGHT WITHOUT THE BRIGHTS. THE BRIGHTS DO OPERATE NORMALLY. I HAVE CHANGED THE BULBS TO HALOGEN TYPE AT MY OWN EXPENSE BUT IT DID NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE. THE LEFT LIGHT SEEMS DIMMER THAN THE RIGHT ONE BUT BOTH ARE VERY DIM. THIS IS A TERRIBLE SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE CONTACTED GMC DEALER AND THEIR ONLY SOLUTION IS TO CHANGE THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES AT GREAT COST OVER $2000 WITH THE SAME ASSEMBLIES THAT HAVE FAILED. READING PROBLEM DESCRIPTIONS ONLINE I FIND THAT THE LIGHT ASSEMBLY SEALS ARE BAD AND WATER ENTERS THE "SEALED" ASSEMBLY THEREBY CAUSING CONDENSATION THAT DIMS THE LIGHTS.

THE HEADLIGHTS ON MY CADILLAC SRX ARE VERY DIM. IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE IN THE DARK WITHOUT USING THE BRIGHTS. A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT HAS BEEN HANDLED IN CALIFORNIA AND FLORIDA BUT NOTHING DONE ANYWHERE ELSE. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH CADILLAC BUT WAS TOLD THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE SITUATION AND IN THE PLANNING PROCESS FOR THE REMEDY. PER MY RESEARCH, THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ALLOWING MOISTURE TO GET INSIDE WHICH IS CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE LIGHTS AND WIRING. THE LIGHTS ARE NOT OUT BUT JUST GO DIM. I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP AND THE CADILLAC CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE IF REPLACING THE BULB WOULD HELP AND THEY STATED THAT THE ENTIRE UNIT WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. AT THIS POINT, MY LIGHTS ARE SO DIM THAT IT IS BECOMING NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE IN THE DARK IN UNLIT AREAS. I WAS HOPING THAT CADILLAC WOULD SHOW RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ISSUE BUT IT APPEARS THEY ARE WAITING ON YOUR DEPARTMENT TO ISSUE A RECALL. PER THE DEALERSHIP, THIS ISSUE COULD COST BETWEEN $1800-$3000 TO FIX AND THEY ARE WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. I AM NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE PROCESS AND IN NO WAY THINK THAT ONE COMPLAINT MERITS A RECALL BUT IT IS MY HOPE THAT YOUR DEPARTMENT, OR THE GOVERNING AGENCY, WILL LOOK INTO THIS ONGOING ISSUE. IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN FOR MYSELF AND MANY OTHERS. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF I CAN PROVIDE ANY MORE INFORMATION. HEADLIGHT MOISTURE IS CAUSING VERY POOR VISIBILITY. IN MARCH OF 2019, I RECEIVED A LETTER STATING THAT MY VEHICLE WAS PART OF A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AND THAT IF I WANTED TO HAVE THE HEADLIGHTS REPLACED, I COULD BY PAYING OUT OF MY POCKET AND THEN WOULD BE REIMBURSED. THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT WAS FOR 2011 - 2015 MODELS. MY VEHICLE IS 2015. AT THE TIME THAT I RECEIVED THE LETTER, THERE WAS NO VISIBLE SIGNS OF A PROBLEM, CHECKED BY MYSELF AND MY HUSBAND WHO IS VERY GOOD WITH CARS. NOW, LESS THAN 1 YEAR LATER, I CAN'T EVEN TELL WHEN MY HEADLIGHTS ARE ON. IF I AM NOT DRIVING ON A ROAD THAT HAS STREET LIGHTS, I CANNOT SEE. IT'S A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. GIVEN THAT I MAINLY TRAVEL ON ROADS THAT HAVE STREET LIGHTS, I WAS UNAWARE OF THE DETERIORATED SITUATION UNTIL VERY RECENTLY. I CONTACTED CADILLAC WHO OFFERED ME NO SOLUTION ASIDE FROM TAKING IT IN TO GET IT DIAGNOSED AT A COST TO ME. THEN I AM SUPPOSED TO CALL THEM BACK SO THAT THEY CAN SEE WHAT THEY CAN DO, NO PROMISES OF ANY TYPE OF MONETARY REIMBURSEMENT. SO BASICALLY, I GOT NOWHERE WITH CADILLAC WHO SEEMS TO BE MORE CONCERNED WITH THEIR BOTTOM LINE THAN SAFETY. THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL. THINK OF IT THIS WAY, 2011 OWNERS HAD A LONG ENOUGH TIME TO SEE THAT THE HEADLIGHTS/COVERS WOULD EVENTUALLY GET MOISTURE IN THEM CAUSING THE PROBLEM, BUT 2015 OWNERS HAD A MUCH SHORTER WINDOW OF TIME. THE COST TO REPLACE THEM IS ABOUT $1500, WHICH I DIDN'T SPEND GIVEN THAT WHEN I RECEIVED THE LETTER, THERE WAS NO ISSUE. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT OCCURS GRADUALLY OVER TIME AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY WAY OF A RECALL SO THAT CADILLAC HAS NO CHOICE BUT TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE AND BACK THEIR PRODUCT BY MAKING THE SITUATION RIGHT. TAKING THE SAFETY OF CADILLAC OWNERS AS A SERIOUS MATTER AS OPPOSED TO TRYING TO SAVE MONEY BY NOT DOING A VOLUNTARY RECALL.

2015 SRX HEADLIGHT ISSUE IN JANUARY 2020, WE NOTICED THAT THE LOW BEAMS ON OUR VEHICLE NO LONGER CAST SUFFICIENT LIGHT TO BE ABLE TO ADEQUATELY SEE THE ROAD AT NIGHT. THE BEAMS ARE SO DIM THERE IS NO DISCERNIBLE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE LIGHTS BEING ON, OR OFF WHEN ON THE LOW BEAM SETTING. THE HIGH BEAMS APPEARED TO BE UNAFFECTED. I BEGAN RESEARCHING THE ISSUE ON LINE AND LEARNED THAT THE 2010 TO 2016 SRX MODELS ALL HAD THIS DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING DEFECT. ACCORDING TO MULTIPLE REPORTS AND EXPLANATIONS, INCLUDING INFORMATION DERIVED FROM CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS, THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES, WHICH ARE SUPPOSED TO BE SEALED, WERE DESIGNED AND CONSTRUCTED IN A WAY THAT ALLOWS MOISTURE TO ACCUMULATE INSIDE THE SEALED ASSEMBLY, CAUSING MULTIPLE PROBLEMS THAT RESULT IN LOW BEAM FAILURE. IT APPEARS THAT ADDITIONAL CLASS ACTION SUITS HAVE BEEN FILED. I HAVE NOT FOUND ANY DETAILS ON THOSE ADDITIONAL SUITS. GIVEN THAT THIS IS A KNOWN, RECURRING, SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE, NHTSA SHOULD IMMEDIATELY INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE, PUBLISH ITS FINDINGS AND TAKE WHATEVER ACTION IS APPROPRIATE TO COERCE GM TO FIX THE DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING ISSUES WITH THESE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES, AND REPLACE THEM ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES THROUGH A NATIONWIDE RECALL AT NO EXPENSE TO OWNERS OF ITS SRX VEHICLES. MY HEADLIGHTS GRADUALLY BECAME MORE DARKENED WHERE I DIDN'T REALIZE THEY WEREN'T WORKING PROPERLY. I EVENTUALLY STARTED RUNNING OFF THE ROAD ON CURVES. MY SON THOUGHT THEY WEREN'T EVEN TURNED ON WHEN HE DROVE IT. I DID RECEIVE A LETTER ABOUT MOISTURE CAUSING SOME PROBLEMS IN ILLUMINATION BUT THEY NEVER EXHIBITED MOISTURE THAT I COULD TELL. I FINALLY TOOK IT IN AND THE DEALER SAID ALL THE REFLECTIVE MATERIAL HAD FALLEN OFF. IT COST $1700 TO REPLACE WITH BASICALLY THE SAME CONFIGURATION OF HEADLIGHTS. I HAVE SENT IN MY LETTER WITH THE BILL BUT HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING BACK SINCE SENDING IN LATE OCTOBER.

WHILE OPERATING THE 2015 SRX4 LAST NIGHT ON AN INTERSTATE THEN TWO LANE STATE ROAD IN A LIGHT RAIN, THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS BARELY ILLUMINATED THE ROADWAY. TODAY I FIND ONLINE THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE LOW BEAMS BEING UNACCEPTABLE AND DANGEROUS. I CONCUR. I'VE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE! OUR 2015 CADILLAC SRX HAS EXTREMELY DIM LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS. THEY ARE SO DIM THAT WE ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR AT NIGHT. WHEN WE DO DRIVE AT NIGHT, WE DRIVE WITH THE HIGH BEAMS ON BECAUSE THEY HAVE NOT BE AFFECTED BY THE DEFECT YET. DRIVING WITH THE HIGH BEAMS ON AT ALL TIMES IS HAZARDOUS TO OTHER DRIVERS, BUT THE LOW BEAMS ARE SO DIM, IT IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE THE ROAD. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS, BUT TO DATE, GM REFUSES TO ADDRESS THE FLAW IN THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY. ACCORDING TO THE LAWSUIT, THE SEALS GM USED IN THE EXTERIOR HEADLIGHT HOUSING UNITS WEAR OUT AND DETERIORATE AND ALLOW MOISTURE TO ACCUMULATE AND CONDENSE FROM THE AIR THAT FLOWS THROUGH THE VENTS. HOWEVER, THE VENTS FOR THE HOUSING UNITS ARE DEFECTIVE BECAUSE THEY INTERFERE WITH THE FLOW OF AIR THROUGH THE FAULTY SEALS OF THE HEADLIGHTS. THE CONDENSATION CAUSES HEADLIGHT PROBLEMS THAT INCLUDE FAILURE OF THE BULBS DUE TO CORROSION OF THE COMPONENTS SUCH AS THE IGNITERS, IN ADDITION TO ELECTRICAL SHORTS THAT OCCUR. WHILE DRIVING ON I-95 AT NIGHT, WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC, LEGALLY FORBIDDING THE USE OF HI-BEAMS, A DEER, I BELIEVE, SUDDENLY CROSSED THE ROAD, 50-75 FEET IN FRONT OF MY VEHICLE. THE LOW BEAMS ON THE VEHICLE ARE SO POOR I WAS UNABLE TO SEE THE DEER UNTIL IT WAS DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. I HAD TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES AND VIOLENTLY SWERVE TO THE RIGHT, LEAVING THE ROAD SURFACE IN A SIDEWAYS SLIDE, CROSSING THE SHOULDER AND FINALLY STOPPING ON THE GRASS, HEADING DOWN HILL, ONLY INCHES FROM A POST. THIS LACK OF EFFICIENT HEAD LIGHTING, NOW KNOWN TO BE FROM HEADLIGHT UNIT SEAL FAILURE LEADING TO LOW LIGHT LEVELS FROM THE PROJECTORS, CAUSED THIS ACCIDENT. THE PASSENGER STRUCK HER HEAD ON THE PASSENGER WINDOW AND SUFFERED A BUMP AND BRUISE TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF HER HEAD. IT IS NOW MY UNDERSTANDING THAT MITIGATING THIS SEAL FAILURE WILL COST ME ABOUT $1600.00 AT THE CADILLAC DEALER. ADDITIONALLY, I UNDERSTAND THAT THE ONLY REPLACEMENT AVAILABLE FROM CADILLAC IS THE SAME UNIT THAT HAS FAILURES AND THAT NO UPGRADED UNIT HAS BEEN MADE. ADDITIONALLY, I UNDERSTAND THAT CADILLAC HAS BEEN FOUND LIABLE IN A CLASS ACTION SUIT REGARDING THESE FAULTY HEADLIGHTS IN FLORIDA AND CALIFORNIA, HOWEVER, NOT IN MY STATE OF RESIDENCE, ALTHOUGH, COINCIDENTALLY, MY ACCIDENT OCCURRED IN FLORIDA. THESE 300,000 VEHICLES NEED TO BE INVESTIGATED FROM MODEL YEARS 2010 TO 2016, AS THEY ALL USE THE SAME HALOGEN HEADLIGHTS. LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS DO NOT PROVIDE ENOUGH LIGHT TO DRIVE SAFELY AT NIGHT. THIS PROBLEM IS KNOWN BY GM AND THEY REFUSE TO HONOR THE REPAIRS. MANY FORUMS DISCUSS THIS SINCE IT INVOLVES THE CADILLAC SRX FROM 2011-2015. ALL THEY GO IS REPLACE THE WEATHER STRIPPING AROUND THE LIGHT BUT THAT IS NOT EFFECTIVE. MY WIFE AND I ARE PRETTY MUCH CONFINED TO DAYTIME DRIVING BECAUSE THE LOW BEAMS ARE SO USELESS AT NIGHT OR IN THE RAIN THAT YOU REALLY WOULD BE BETTER OFF WITH CANDLES. I WAS FORCED TO DRIVE FOR AN EMERGENCY LAST NIGHT AND ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT ON A COUNTRY ROAD BECAUSE THE LIGHTS DID NOT LIGHT UP THE ROAD GOOD ENOUGH TO SEE WHERE I WAS DRIVING. SERVICE CENTER SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BUT THERE IS. THEY HAVE BETTER HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES BUT WILL NOT REPLACE THEM. GM JUST STALLS AND STONEWALLS THE CUSTOMER. I HAD THE BRIGHTEST LOW BEAM BULB REPLACED IN BOTH LIGHTS BUT THE HEADLIGHT DESIGN IS THE PROBLEM. MOST EXPENSIVE PEACE OF TRASH I HAVE EVER OWNED. BEEN DEALING WITH THIS SINCE PURCHASING IN 2017.

THE DEALER QUOTED ME ~$300 TO REPLACE WITH NON-GM BULBS BUT CAN'T GUARANTY THAT THE PROBLEM WILL BE FIXED AND WON'T GIVE ME ANY SORT OF WARRANTY ON THE REPAIR--EVEN THOUGH MY SRX IS STILL UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY. IN FACT, EVERY ONLINE REVIEW STATES THAT REPLACING THE BULBS WILL NOT CORRECT THIS ISSUE. OBVIOUSLY, THE DEFECT GOES BEYOND THE BULB ITSELF. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM CADILLAC THAT OFFERED THE REIMBURSEMENT IN EXCHANGE FOR WAIVING ANY FUTURE FIX FOR THE PROBLEM. ON MARCH 30, 2019 WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY WITH A CURB, I HIT A PIECE OF WOOD THAT I COULDN'T SEE BECAUSE OF THE DIM HEADLIGHTS. HITTING THE WOOD CAUSED THE CAR TO VEER INTO THE CURB CAUSING OVER $4000 DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. WHILE LOOKING FOR A POSSIBLE FIX FOR THE PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET, I HAVE FOUND THAT MANY OWNERS OF THIS MODEL CADILLAC COMPLAIN OF THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DEALER WANTS $1,000 TO REPLACE THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS CAR IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION , WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY $1,000 TO REPLACE THIS. I HAVE SEEN THE COMPLAINT SITES AND THERE SEEMS TO BE A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVING THIS ISSUE. FRONT HEADLIGHTS ARE DIMMING OUT. HEADLIGHTS ARE NOT GIVING SUFFICIENT ENOUGH LIGHTING FOR DRIVING AT NIGHT. HEADLIGHTS OUTPUT IS POOR. I HAVE EXPERIENCED NEAR ACCIDENTS WITH OTHER VEHICLES AND PEDESTRIANS AT NIGHT BECAUSE OF I CAN'T SEE THE LANE DIVIDING LINES ON HIGHWAYS AND STREETS WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT BECAUSE OF THE FACTORY HEADLIGHTS DIMMING. THE HEADLIGHTS DOESN'T EVEN LIGHT UP INSIDE OF MY GARAGE WHEN PROJECTED AT IN CLOSE RANGE. (I HAVE INCLUDED A PHOTO)

JUST BOUGHT A 2015 SRX CADILLAC ON FEB 16, 2019. TEST DROVE DURING THE DAY, BUT BY THE TIME ALL WAS DONE IT WAS NIGHT. DRIVING HOME AND 1/10 OF A MILE OUT, I PULLED OVER TO SEE IF THE LIGHTS WERE ON. THEY WERE, SO I CONTINUED TO DRIVE. ALL ALONG CONVINCING MYSELF IT MUST BE BECAUSE I WENT FROM A CAR TO SUV AND IT WAS MY PERCEPTION OF SITTING UP HIGHER. I BELIEVE I WAS SO HOPING SINCE I HAD JUST SIGNED A 'NO WAITING TIME' AND ' AS IS' CONTRACT PLUS PURCHASING GAP AND EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR OVER $3000 MORE! WELL, IT IS NOT MY PERCEPTION FROM A DIFFERENT LEVEL! I DROVE AGAIN AND NOT ONLY ARE THE BULBS PROJECTING DIFFERENT LEVEL OF BRIGHTNESS( IF U CALL IT 'BRIGHT') BUT NEITHER MAKES IT WHERE THE ROAD IS SAFELY VISIBLE. I HAD IT IN THE DEALERSHIP SHOP THREE DAYS AFTER PURCHASE TO FIX THE CUE PROBLEM (DEALERSHIP TAKING CARE OF THAT) AND ASKED TO CHECK HEADLIGHTS. I THOUGHT THEY CHANGED BULBS AND ALL WAS WELL SINCE IVWAS TOLD THEY CHECKED THEM AND ALL WAS GOOD TO GO. NOT. I HAVE WRITTEN CADILLAC VIA EMAIL AND I HAVE NOTIFIED THE BUICK DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. AFTER PURCHASING (BIG MISTAKE I'VE LEARNED THE HARD WAY) AND THIS PROBLEM EMERGED, I SEARCHED INTERNET AND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. I'M HOPING CADILLAC OR THE BUICK DEALERSHIP WILL HELP RESOLVE THIS UNSAFE ISSUE. IF NOT, NOT SURE WHAT I WILL DO WITHOUT HAVING TO TRADE IT IN AND PROBABLY LOSE $$ GO WITH A DIFFERENT BRAND OF CAR!! I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED IN NOVEMBER 2018 FROM THE LOCAL LEXUS DEALER. I DIDN'T DRIVE IT AT NIGHT PRIOR TO TAKING A TRIP IN DECEMBER 2018 WHEN I LEFT EARLY IN THE MORNING IN A RAINSTORM. I WAS SHOCKED THAT I COULDN'T SEE A THING AND THOUGHT IT WAS JUST THE RAIN. LATER I DISCOVERED IT WAS THE HEADLIGHTS THAT WERE EXTREMELY DIM. I CONTACTED THE LOCAL CADILLAC DEALER WHO KNEW ABOUT THE PROBLEM AFFECTING THIS YEAR AND OTHER SRX MODELS. THEY SAID THEY COULD REPLACE THE ENTIRE HOUSING, ETC BUT THAT THE PROBLEM COMES BACK. THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT REPLACE WITH HALOGEN OR OTHER AFTER MARKET PARTS SINCE THEY ARE NOT CADILLAC PARTS. THEY ASKED THAT I LET THEM KNOW IF HALOGEN LIGHTS WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM IF I GO THAT ROUTE. HOW ON EARTH COULD THIS CAR NOT BE RECALLED TO FIX THE PROBLEM? THIS SITUATION IS JUST PLAIN DANGEROUS AND CANNOT BE SAFELY DRIVEN AT NIGHT WHEN LIGHTS ARE NEEDED!!

THE LOW BEAMS ON THIS VEHICLE CREATE A DRIVING HAZARD AT NIGHT. THERE LITERALLY ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS JUST BY DOING A GOOGLE SEARCH. SEE ALSO CARPROBLEMZOO.COM GM/CADILLAC HAS NO FIX. THE LIGHTS DO NOT PROJECT PROPERLY AND IN DARK AREAS YOU CAN'T TELL AT TIMES THAT THE LIGHTS ARE WORKING. GM SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO FIX THIS ISSUE. I REPLACED THE HALOGEN LIGHTS WITH NEW HALOGENS AND NO DIFFERENCE. I THEN UPGRADED HALOGENS TO LED BULBS WITH A MINIMAL FIX. PLEASE TAKE THESE ISSUES SERIOUSLY. PEOPLE HAVE WRITTEN ONLINE THAT THEY CANNOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE AT NIGHT. THE ONLY SAFE MEASURE IS TO DRIVE WITH HIGH BEAMS, WHICH IS NOT POSSIBLE. THIS PROBLEM IS SYSTEMIC WITH THE LUXURY EDITION CADILLAC SRX. I THINK IT'S THE LENS OR ELECTRICAL. I THINK THIS IS THE REASON THAT THE 2016 SRX HAS HID HEADLIGHTS. NUMEROUS WEBSITES INDICATE COMPLAINTS FROM DRIVERS WHO SAY THAT THE CADILLAC DEALERSHIPS ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE BUT ALSO SAY THAT GM HAS NOT ISSUED A FIX. DEALERSHIPS WANT HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS UP TO OVER A THOUSAND DOLLARS TO FIX IT, BUT THEY ALSO STATE THAT THE FIX MIGHT NOT WORK. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS. IT IS TRULY A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. PLEASE HOLD GM ACCOUNTABLE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND CONSIDERATION. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN DRIVING. I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2015 CADILLAC SRX LUXURY CROSSOVER SUV (50,000 MILES). I NOTICED WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, THAT THE HEADLIGHTS BARELY ILLUMINATE THE ROAD. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL CADILLAC DEALERSHIP AND SPOKE WITH SERVICE DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL THAT INFORMED ME THAT THIS ISSUE WAS SYSTEMIC THROUGHOUT THE 2010-2015 YEAR SRX MODELS. THIS PROBLEM IS SO CONSISTENT THROUGHOUT SUCH SIMILAR MODELS, AND YET I AM SUPPOSE TO SHELL OUT $1300 TO FIX A KNOWN ISSUE? PURCHASED FROM A DEALERSHIP IN GA FRONT HEADLIGHTS SEEMED TO BE WORKING AT NIGHT, NOTICED THEY WERE VERY DIM, BUT CONTINUED TO DRIVE AT NIGHT ALTERNATING BRIGHTS. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP RECENTLY AFTER ALMOST BEING HIT AT NIGHT AND ONCE IN THE RAIN, A CAR TURNED IN FRONT OF ME TWICE AT NIGHT LIKE THEY DIDN'T EVEN SEE ME BECAUSE NOW I REALIZE THEY COULDN'T! I WAS TOLD WHOLE SYSTEM WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED BEFORE MECHANIC EVEN LOOKED AT VEHICLE. GOOGLED SRX HEADLIGHT ISSUE AND CAME UP WITH LAWSUIT INFO BECAUSE OF THIS SAME SITUATION. REPLACING THE HEADLIGHT BULBS OVER THE PAST WEEKEND DID NOTHING TO IMPROVE THE LIGHT PUT OUT BY THE HEADLIGHTS. I ALSO VISITED THE BODY SHOP THAT MADE A MINOR REPAIR TO THE CAR IN DEC 2018 THINKING THE HEADLIGHTS WERE MISALIGNED AND WAS TOLD THE DRIVER SIDE LIGHT WAS SIGNIFICANTLY DIM COMPARED TO THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE ISSUE WITH THE HEADLIGHTS IS FOR THE LOW BEAMS AND NOT THE HIGH BEAMS. THIS ISSUE CAN BE SEEN WHILE PARKED OR DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, DURING TURNS AS WELL

ANDREWS CADILLAC (1 CADILLAC DR, BRENTWOOD, TN 37027, (615) 200-9076) WAS CONTACTED AND WERE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT STATED THERE WAS NO REMEDY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

I TWICE COMPLAINED TO DEALERSHIP THAT THE LIGHTS WERE NOT ILLUMINATING AND I HAD TO DRIVE WITH MY BRIGHTS ON. TWICE THEY DID NOTHING. I WAS PULLED OVER BY A POLICE OFFICER WHO TOLD ME HE THOUGHT I HAD ONLY MY FOG LIGHTS ON AND NOT HEAD LIGHTS. THIS CAR DOES NOT HAVE FOG LIGHTS AND THE OFFICER WAS SHOCKED THAT THE CADILLAC HAD SUCH A POOR SET OF HEADLIGHTS. I RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO HANDLED IT IN A TERRIBLY U.N. PROFESSIONAL WAY AND TOLD ME THE HEADLIGHTS ARE NOT COVERED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY. I REMINDED THEM THAT WHEN I FIRST STARTED THE COMPLAINTS THE ORIGINAL MANUFACTURE WARRANTY WAS IN PLACE. A SALES PERSON FROM THE DEALERSHIP SUGGESTED THAT I SHOULD BUY A DIFFERENT CADILLAC TO FIX THIS ISSUE. IT'S APPALING TO ME TO FIND A LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM CADILLAC I BOUGHT A CADILLAC TO SUPPORT 'BUY AMERICAN' - I COULD NOT BE MORE DISAPPOINTED. MY FRIEND DRIVES A LEXUS AND IS CONSTANTLY TELLING ME HOW GREAT THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS. TO SAY THAT AM INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTED IN CADILLAC IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. I WRITE THIS AS I WAIT TO HEAR FROM CADILLAC. I BROUGHT MY CAR THERE AND ASKED THEM TO DRIVE IT AT NIGHT- IT'S TIME FOR IT TO BE INSPECTED. LET'S SEE IF THEY ARE WILLING TO PUT THEIR NAME ON AN INSPECTION. I HAVE A BEAUTIFUL CADILLAC THAT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE IN THE WINTER MONTHS PAST 4:30 N THE AFTERNOON. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. THE LIGHTS DO NOT ILLUMINATE. IN ORDER TO SEE THE ROAD I HAVE TO DRIVE WITH 'BRIGHTS ON' - I HAVE EVEN PULLED ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD SO I CAN GET OUT AND CHECK IF THE LIGHTS ARE ON. THIS IS SO UNSAFE. I HAVE TO KEEP UP WITH OTHER TRAFFIC AT NIGHT SO I CAN USE THEIR HEADLIGHT ILLUMINATION AS A WAY TO NOT HAVE TO DRIVE WITH MY BRIGHTS ON - I DO NOT WANT TO CAUSE UNSAFE SITUATION FOR OTHER MOTORISTS BY DRIVING WITH MY BRIGHTS ON.

AUG 2018 I NOTICED MY LOW BEAM LIGHTS WERE BARELY VISIBLE, LIKE I WAS DRIVING IN THE DARK WITH NO LIGHTS ON. I SWITCHED TO HIGH BEAMS AND COULD SEE VERY GOOD, BUT THEN SWITCHED BACK TO LOW BEAM AND IT WAS STILL THE SAME....VERY POOR LIGHTING. I HAD THE BULBS CHANGED OUT IN OCT 2018 FOR $200, BUT THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I HAD THE RELAY SWITCH REPLACED, BUT THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD SITUATIONS WHERE OBJECTS OR PEOPLE WERE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, BUT I DID NOT SEE THEM UNTIL THE LAST SECOND WHEN I WAS RIGHT THERE AT THEM BECAUSE OF THE POOR LIGHTING. I CANNOT CONTINUOUSLY DRIVE WITH MY HIGH BEAMS ON AT NIGHT JUST TO SEE WHERE I AM GOING. THIS IS A BAD SAFETY ISSUE ON ONE OF THE TOP OF THE LINE VEHICLES....LOW BEAMS COULD CAUSE ME TO WRECK, HITTING SOMEONE OR SOMETHING BECAUSE OF POOR LIGHTING AND HIGH BEAMS MAKES ME BLIND THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC CAUSING THEM TO WRECK HITTING SOMEONE OR SOMETHING. I AM TOLD THAT THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY NEEDS REPLACING BECAUSE OF THE POOR SEAL QUALITY LETTING MOISTURE IN CAUSING THE FAULTY LOW LIGHTING. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS BECAUSE THIS IS A MANUFACTURER PROBLEM/ERROR. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY $1500 TO FIX THIS WHEN I DID NOTHING TO CAUSE IT. DESPITE HAVING A REMAINING BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY, WE WERE REQUIRED TO PAY $208.81 FOR REPLACEMENT BULBS, WHICH THEY SAID WERE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THEY ARE BARELY BRIGHTER THAN THE ONES THEY REPLACED. THIS IS ASTONISHING THAT A LEADING US MANUFACTURER HAS ELECTED TO PLAY RUSSIAN ROULETTE WITH ITS CUSTOMERS LIVES. CONSIDER THIS MESSAGE A SAFETY COMPLAINT AGAINST THIS MANUFACTURER AND A PROMISE TO JOIN THE CLASS ACTION SUIT THAT IS NOW STARTING IN FLORIDA. I SHOULD BE REIMBURSED THE $208.81 AND BOTH HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLIES REPLACED WITH REDESIGNED ONES. SIMPLY REPLACING SMALL BULBS AGAIN WILL NOT SUFFICE. CADILLAC AND GM NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. IF WE ARE INJURED OR KILLED BECAUSE OF THE VERY POOR OUTPUT OF THESE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS I WILL CHASE THE SOULS OF ALL THOSE AT CADILLAC AND GM BEYOND THE DEPTHS OF HELL FOREVER. THIS ISSUE HAPPENS WITH HEADLIGHT SWITCH IN AUTOMATIC OR WHEN SELECTING THE "HEADLIGHT ON" POSITION. MY WARRANTY FOR THAT RAN OUT AT 50,275 MILES. THE PROBLEM WAS THERE PRIOR TO THAT MILEAGE. I HONESTLY THOUGHT MY EYES WERE STARTING TO GO BAD AT NIGHT, BUT MY FAMILY NOTICED IT TOO WHEN WE WERE ALL DRIVING TOGETHER ONE EVENING, SO I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT. I AM VERY UPSET THAT CADILLAC ISN'T DOING SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT. I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AFTER DARK, I LITERALLY COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING, IT WAS LIKE DRIVING WITH THE HEADLIGHTS OFF. SO, I SLOWED THE CAR TO 35MPH JUST SO I COULD SEE TO FIND MY EXIT OFF THE HIGHWAY. I USED MY BRIGHT LIGHTS AS MUCH AS I COULD, BUT I WAS BLINDING THE DRIVERS COMING TOWARDS ME. AFTER PURCHASING THIS 2015 CADILLAC SRX IN DECEMBER 2017, I NOTICED THE DIM HEADLIGHTS. AFTER RETURNING FROM VACATION IN MARCH 2018, I TOOK THE CAR TO MY LOCAL DEALER FOR SERVICE. I WAS TOLD THEY INSTALLED A DIFFERENT HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY BUT SAW NO IMPROVEMENT, SO THEY PUT THE OLD HEADLIGHTS BACK IN. HOWEVER, THEY THOUGHT THEY WERE BRIGHTER JUST FROM BEING CLEANED. IN JUNE, THE HEADLIGHTS WERE GETTING WORSE, SO I RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD A GM REPRESENTATIVE WAS THERE THAT DAY, THEY WOULD SPEAK WITH HIM ABOUT THE PROBLEM, THEN CALL ME BACK TO SCHEDULE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT. TODAY, JULY 16 I HAD NOT RECEIVED A CALL, SO I CALLED THEM. I HAVE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT SCHEDULED FOR MONDAY, JULY 23. I WAS TOLD THIS IS THEIR LAST DITCH EFFORT IN TRYING TO FIX THE HEADLIGHTS. I CANNOT DRIVE THE CAR AFTER DARK PERIOD. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO, PLEASE HELP!

ON OR ABOUT SEPTEMBER 11, 2017, I ENCOUNTERED A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION DUE TO THE DEFECTIVE HEADLAMPS ON MY 2015 CADILLAC SRX. I HAD TO EVACUATE TO VIRGINIA FROM FLORIDA DUE TO HURRICANE IRMA. AS I WAS DRIVING UP A STEEP MOUNTAINSIDE AT NIGHT TO GET TO MY DESTINATION, I NOTICED I COULD BARELY SEE THE ROAD IN FRONT OF ME. I WAS PUT IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, AS I COULD NOT USE MY BRIGHT LIGHTS BECAUSE THAT WOULD "BLIND" THE CARS COMING DOWN THE MOUNTAIN IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. THIS WAS A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION AS ONE WRONG MANEUVER COULD SEND YOU OFF THE SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN OR HEAD-ON INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE OR PEDESTIAN. UPON MY RETURN TO FLORIDA, I IMMEDIATELY TOOK MY CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM AS FOG AND HAZE COVERING THE LENS DUE TO "WEATHER" AND REPLACED BOTH HEADLAMPS. ON MAY 13, 2018, I NOTICED THE SAME HEAD LAMP DIMNESS WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE THE ROAD OR PEDESTRIANS OR ANYTHING. I RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLAMP AND REPLACED IT. THIS HAS BEEN LESS THAN A YEAR SINCE THE INITIAL REPLACEMENT. CLEARLY THERE IS A DEFECT WITH THE DESIGN AND/OR INTEGRITY OF THESE HEADLAMPS AND A NEWER VERSION MUST BE MANUFACTURED. I LIVE IN FLORIDA AND IF MOISTURE IS CAUSING THIS, THIS WILL BE AN ONGOING PROBLEM. THIS IS VERY COSTLY TO FIX, NOT TO MENTION, LIFE THREATENING AS YOU ARE UNABLE TO SEE THE ROAD OR PEDESTRIANS OR ANYTHING ELSE WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT WITH BARELY ANY LIGHT ILLUMINATING THE PATH IN FRONT OF YOUR VEHICLE.

THE DIM LIGHTS DO NOT GIVE OFF ENOUGH LIGHT AT NIGHT I HAVE HAD TO PULL OVER SEVERAL TIMES THINKING I WAS GOING OFF THE ROAD. I AVOID DRIVING AT NIGHT AND AVOID HAVING MY GRANDBABY IN THE CAR AT NIGHT FOR FEAR OF A DEADLY CRASH. WHEN I HAVE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT I HAVE TO USE BRIGHTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.

EXTERIOR FRONT LIGHTS ARE DANGEROUSLY DIM WHEN DRIVING AFTER DUSK AND INTO THE NIGHT TIME. IT IS VERY HARD TO SEE WHILE DRIVING. WHILE STOPPED I CHECKED THE LIGHTS TO SEE IF THEY WERE ON AND THEY WERE BUT WHILE DRIVING I HAVE TO RIDE WITH MY BRIGHT LIGHTS ON TO SEE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT NOTHING LIKE THIS HAS EVER BEEN REPORTED BUT IT IS NOT TRUE. THEY ADJUSTED MY FRONT LIGHTS THINKING IT WAS THE BEAM BUT IT DID NOT HELP THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL SINCE THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED.

NOW THAT WE'RE OWNERS WE REALIZE THE CAR CANNOT BE DRIVEN AT NIGHT. THE LOW BEAM HEADLAMPS ARE SO DIM ITS WORSE THAN DRIVING WITH PARKING LIGHTS ONLY. WE ARE NOW SHOCKED TO SEE THAT THERE ARE MANY SERIOUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS VERY PROBLEM ALL OVER THE WEB EVERYWHERE EXCEPT FOR THE TWO ABOVE MENTIONED REVIEWERS .IT'S LITERALLY LIKE DRIVING IN THE DARK.
