First recall, Only dealer on Island (Hawaii) went out of business and couldn't be done by a GM dealer. Windshield washer fluid heater was removed by a mechanic shop at my own expense. Second recall, The passenger airbag inflator hasn't been done due to the fact that 2007 - 2014 Chevy Avalanche, Tahoe, Suburban & GMC Yukon are known for cracked dashboards which includes my Avalanche. My dashboard was cracked before the airbag recall and I covered the dashboard with fiberglass mat and resin to repair it as a new dashboard was not covered by warranty and exceeded over $2,000.00 to replace. The area to access the airbag is sealed and would require a new dashboard. There is now a new Chevy dealer here that can do the recall but I would have to pay the cost to replace the dashboard so it hasn't been done as I'm not able or willing to pay for the additional expense.

The contact owned a 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 60 MPH, he lost control of the vehicle after driving over a pothole and crashed into a telephone pole. The pole fell on the vehicle and the fire department had to remove the contact from the vehicle. The front passenger's side of the vehicle was damaged. The air bags in the vehicle failed to deploy during the impact. The contact sustained three fractured ribs and one lacerated lung which required medical attention via hospital. The vehicle was towed and deemed destroyed. A police report was filed. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was previously serviced for an unknown NHTSA Campaign Number for the Air Bags prior to the crash. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

Was going down the road and there was a big load bang or pop that sounded like a bomb went and the seatbelts sucked us back and locked us in place and then the service airbag light came on the light stays on the seatbelts are locked up can remove and it was like the air bags says will no longer deploy/work and now can't use the seatbelts and the law says no seatbelt use we get a ticket so now can't drive truck unless I want a ticket. So what do I do now I am disabled and this my only vehicle that I need to get to the doctors with so how to get it fixed is the manufacturer responsibility. Dash is cracked in so many spots and missing peices to where it is unsafe. In an accident those loose and broken peices can hurt a passenger/driver. Can't even get the airbag recall taken care of because the dash is too damaged.

Have a 2007 Chevy Avalanche LTZ 5.3L that has a dashboard panel that is completely falling apart and cracking everywhere. This includes MULTIPLE cracks and broken pieces surrounding the airbag. I am worried these pieces could get propelled by the airbag if the airbag were to deploy. These cracks and broken parts of the dash have also caused multiple other things to become loose. The controls on the front of the dash are falling out because they can no longer be bolted to the dashboard panel due to it's pieces being broken. I was hoping chevy had a recall as this is an issue with many of their trucks but could not find any information about it. I was hoping there might be some information or help with supplying a replacement dashboard panel part #15915974 from GM/Chevrolet. Thank you.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed that the passenger’s side air bag was faulty, and the lifter had collapsed since the vehicle was running on 4 cylinders instead of 8 cylinders. TAKATA RECALL - CALLED MY LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP AND WAS AGAIN TOLD GM HAS NOT PROVIDED A FIX/REPLACEMENT FOR THE DEFECTIVE AIRBAG INFLATORS. THE DEALERSHIP INFORM ME I HAD TO CALL GM CUSTOMER SATISFACTION DIRECTLY. I CALLED GM CUSTOMER SATISFACTION AND WAS TOLD THAT GM IS INTERNALLY CONDUCTING TESTS ON THE TAKATA AIRBAGS AND CURRENTLY FEEL THERE IS NO "UNREASONABLE" RISK BUT THEY ARE STILL INVESTIGATING AND REVIEWING THE SITUATION. IF THE MANUFACTURER (TAKATA) HAS DETERMINED THERE IS A DEFECT AND RISK BASED ON THEIR AIRBAG INFLATOR DESIGN I WANT THE INFLATOR REPLACED AND NOT RUN THE RISK THAT IT FALSELY GOES OFF CAUSING PHYSICAL HARM OR DEATH TO A PASSENGER. THE RISK IN GM'S OPINION MIGHT BE LOW MEANING THEIR COST ANALYSIS BETWEEN SETTLING CLAIMS VERSUS REPLACING THE INFLATORS IN POTENTIALLY MILLIONS OF VEHICLES IS DRIVING THEIR INACTION. MY CONCERN IS THAT THE AIRBAG MAY BE PUNCTURED OR OTHERWISE INEFFECTIVE UPON DEPLOYMENT DUE TO THE INSTABILITY AND SHARP, BROKEN PIECES OF PLASTIC DASHBOARD. THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON, THE VEHICLE WAS JUST DRIVEN A SHORT DISTANCE 10 MILES, THEN IT SAT. STILL ON ONSTAR DIAGNOSTICS COULDN'T COMMUNICATE WITH THE SYSTEM. SO CALLED THE DEALER TOOK IT IN, THEY SAID IT WAS THE SDM MODULE, SO THEY ORDERED A NEW ONE. A WEEK LATER THE NEW ONE CAME IN, THEY CAN'T COMMUNICATE WITH THAT ONE. THEY SAID WE COULD TAKE THE TRUCK FOR THE WEEKEND, AND THEY HAVE THE GM ENGINEERS LOOKING INTO IT. THE CAR IS IN GREAT SHAPE, DROVE IT 2 YEARS WITHOUT A SINGLE INCIDENT. THEY DID JUST CHANGE THE 4X4 ACTUATOR A FEW MILES BACK. THEY WANT $667, BUT MAYBE MORE SINCE IT'S BEEN THERE FOR 2 WHOLE DAYS, WITH NO IMPROVEMENT. PROCEEDED TO DRIVE AND IN NEXT MILE ANOTHER "POP" SOUND OCCURRED, THIS TIME IT WAS AN EVEN LARGER CRACK ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE DASH NEAR THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, AND THE ENTIRE TOP PORTION OF THE DASH DRIVERS SIDE TO PASSENGER SIDE WAS NOW BOUNCING UP AND DOWN BY ABOUT 1-2INCHES. I FEAR IF THE DRIVERS A-PILLAR SIDE AIRBAG OR THE PASSENGER MAIN AIRBAG ARE DEPLOYED, THAT FRAGMENTS AND LARGE PIECES OF THE HARD DASH PLASTIC CAN BE THROWN AT HIGH-SPEED TO PEOPLE IN THE CABIN...THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AS A SAFETY CONCERN. THE DASHBOARD ON MY AVALANCHE HAS DEVELOPED A FAIRLY SIGNIFICANT CRACK RIGHT NEXT TO THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. THE CRACK STARTS FROM TOWARDS THE WINDSHIELD SIDE AND LEADS UP TO AND TERMINATES AT THE CREVICE WHERE THE AIRBAG IS LOCATED. THIS IN MY OPINION JEOPARDIZES THE INTEGRITY OF THE AIRBAG. THE CONCERNS ARE THAT (A) THE AIRBAG MAY NOT DEPLOY IN THE INTENDED DIRECTION (B) MAY GET RUPTURED DUE TO MAKING CONTACT WITH THE SHARP EDGES OF THE CRACK OR (C) MAY DEPLOY UNINTENTIONALLY DUE TO THE WEAKNESS OF THE MATERIAL HOLDING IT IN PLACE. AROUND THE MAY 2012 TIMEFRAME I HAD TO TAKE MY 2007 CHEVROLET AVALANCHE IN TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE TO THE CRACKED DASHBOARD NEAR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG. THE DEALERSHIP AGREED THAT THIS WAS A DEFECTIVE ISSUE THROUGH OUT A NUMBER OF OTHER GM MODELS. THE DEALERSHIP AGREED TO REPLACE THE DASHBOARD AT NO CHARGE. THIS WEEK ON 9 DECEMBER 2013 I NOTICED ANOTHER CRACK IN THE NEW DASHBOARD. JUST SLIGHTLY OVER A YEAR THIS HAS HAPPENED AGAIN BUT THIS TIME IN A NEW LOCATION. THIS CRACK IS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE NEAR THE FRONT OF THE WINDSHIELD NEAR THE VIN NUMBER PLATE TO THE BASE OF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. THIS CRACK IN THE PAST TWO DAYS IS OPENING MORE AND MORE EVERYDAY. ON 10 DECEMBER THE CRACK HAS NOW FORMED A "V" SHAPE AND HAS SPLIT TO TOWARDS THE DRIVERS DOOR. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TODAY AND THE DEALERSHIP, THE SAME DEALERSHIP THAT REPLACED THE DASHBOARD THE FIRST TIME, SAID NO AND THAT THEY COULD NO LONGER HELP ME AND RECOMMENDED TO ME THAT I JUST GET A "COVER" TO NOT SEE IT AND BOTHER ME. I PAID NEARLY $40,000 FOR THE TRUCK AND KEEP VERY GOOD CARE OF IT. I FEEL THAT THESE CRACKS ARE A SAFETY CONCERN THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED AND FIXED. THE DEALERSHIPS AROUND THE COUNTRY HAVE ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE AND THEY WILL NO LONGER HELP. OTHER OWNERS LIKE ME ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE AND WE NEED HELP TO GET OUR VEHICLES FIXED. I AM THE OWNER OF A 2007 AVALANCHE WHERE THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE IS IN QUESTION. MY WIFE WAS SITTING STATIONARY AT A RED LIGHT AND FOR SOME REASON BOTH SEAT BELTS VIOLENTLY RETRACTED TO THE POINT OF INJURING HER AND CAUSING DAMAGE TO PASSENGER SEAT TRIM. ALSO THE EMERGENCY FLASHERS WOULD NOT SHUT OFF AND ON-STAR WAS CALLED TWICE. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE CHECK TODAY, BOTH SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED UNEXPECTEDLY?MY WIFE HAD TO IMMEDIATELY STOP THE VEHICLE WITHIN A MILE OF OUR HOME, TURN AROUND, AND LEAVE IT PARKED. I NOW HAVE A VEHICLE THAT HAS SEAT BELTS THAT WILL NOT RETRACT, SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, AND SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT CONTINUALLY ON UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN. THE DASH IS CRACKED NEXT TO THE AIRBAG ON PASSENGER SIDE. MANUFACTURER REFUSES TO FIX OR REPLACE WITHOUT THE CONSUMER TAKING RESPONSIBILITY AND PAYING FOR REPLACEMENT. THIS IS A ONE OWNER VEHICLE, GARAGE PARKED, DASH-MAT SINCE FIRST ACQUIRED TRUCK. THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY WIDESPREAD PROBLEM FOR GM VEHICLES OF THE SAME MAKE AND OTHER SIMILAR VEHICLES. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET AVALANCHE. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 35 MPH WHEN THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED INDEPENDENTLY. THE SEAT BELTS BECAME ABNORMALLY TIGHT AND THE HAZARD LIGHTS ACTIVATED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED MINOR BRUISING AND INJURIES TO THE NECK AND EARS FROM THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THEY WOULD BE INSPECTING THE VEHICLE TO DETERMINE WHY THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT STATED THEY COULD OFFER NO ASSISTANCE UNTIL THEY RECEIVED THE RESULTS OF THE INSPECTION FROM THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 74,000.

DASH CRACK FAR LEFT CORNER ON 07 AVALANCHE CAUSES AIRBAG UNIT TO NOT SIT PROPERLY IN MOUNTS. AREA ON INDICATED PART OF DASH FLIMSY NOT REINFORCED. DAMAGE CAUSED BY HEAT (SPECULATING,) SPILT 2" FROM 0" IN 6HRS DURING DRIVE FROM SAN DIEGO CA TO LAS VEGAS NV, NO PRIOR DAMAGE OR SIGNS OF STRESS. DUE TO PASSENGER AIRBAG NOT SEATED PROPERLY, AFRAID IF AIRBAG DEPLOYED MAY NOT DEPLOY CORRECTLY. DEALER CONSIDERS CRACK COSMETIC, SAYS AIRBAG IS INDEPENDENT AND SHOULD NOT BE AFFECTED WHICH I AGREE BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN IT WILL OPEN IF IT CAN BE "JARRED" FROM ITS SEATING IN THE DASH IF IT CAN DISLODGE. AND IN AN ACCIDENT WITH ENOUGH FORCE TO DEPLOY AIRBAG IT COULD BE THRUST UPWARD FROM ITS SEATING AND THUS CHANGING THE ANGLES OF WHICH IT IS INTENDED TO COVER DURING DEPLOYMENT. I SEE A POTENTIAL FLAW HERE DUE TO OVERSIGHT IN ENGINEERING AND FEEL IT NEEDS FURTHER REVIEW. I HAVE INCLUDED A VIDEO I FOUND ON YOUTUBE THAT SHOWS A DASH IN A 07 TAHOE (SAME DASH AS 07 AVALANCHE) WHICH IS CRACKED THE SAME WAY, IT CLEARLY SHOWS HOW DUE TO THIS CRACK THE AIRBAG UNIT IS NOT SECURE IN ITS SEATING AND COULD POTENTIALLY "JUMP OUT" AS WELL THE FLIMSINESS IN THE DASH AREA I AM SPECULATING TOWARDS LACK OF REINFORCEMENT. I HAD BEEN NOTICING THAT THERE WAS A SLIGHT NOISE ON THE RIGHT FRONT END OF MY 2007 AVALANCHE. I CHECKED THE UNDERCARRIAGE AND DIDN'T NOTICE ANYTHING WRONG. I HAD AN OIL CHANGE DONE AND IT CAME W/ A FREE TIRE ROTATION. THE SOUND SEEMED TO BE GONE AFTER THAT , I CAN'T BE SURE. THE TRUCK HAD APPROX. 12,000 MILES ON IT. I WAS GOING TO DROP OFF SOME PAPERS WITH A CUSTOMER ON OCT. 6TH WHEN I HEARD THE NOISE AGAIN. I WAS LOOKING FOR THE CUSTOMER'S TRACTOR THAT WE WERE REPAIRING IN THE FIELD AND WAS SLIGHTLY BOTHERED BY THE SUN SO I PUT ONE OF MY HANDS UP TO BLOCK THE SUN. WHEN I LOOKED BACK AT THE ROAD, I WAS IN THE WRONG LANE. I TRIED TO CORRECT AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON IT'S OWN! I APPLIED THE BRAKES BUT DIDN"T GET THE SAME RESPONSE AS BEFORE. I ENDED UP IN A CONCRETE DITCH. BY THE WAY, THE AIRBAG DIDN'T DEPLOY AND THE ONSTAR DIDN'T GET HELP THERE EITHER. I TALKED TO GM AND THEY KIND OF JUST BRUSHED IT OFF. I STILL HAVE PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL ISSUES BECAUSE OF IT. *TR
