TAKATA RECALL. ON OCTOBER 13TH 2018 I WAS IN A HORRIFIC ACCIDENT WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY WAS AN SINGLE CAR ACCIDENT MY TIRE SHREDDED BUT STILL MAINTAINED AIR AND MY AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY ON EITHER SIDE AND I GOT A BROKEN NOSE AND A FEW FACIAL FRACTURES. NOW I HAVE SEVERE HEADACHES EVERYDAY SINCE THEN.

THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING AT A HIGHWAY SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, WHEN IT GOT INTO A COLLISION WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE OTHER VEHICLE MADE AN ABRUPT STOP ON THE HIGHWAY IN FRONT OF THE 2004 CHEVROLET AVEO, WHICH CAUSED THE AVEO TO HIT THE BACK OF THE SUDDENLY STOPPED VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY, WHICH FROM MY UNDERSTANDING SHOULD HAPPEN WHEN TRAVELING AT THAT SPEED. IN FACT IT ESPECIALLY SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED, DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE IMPACT DAMAGED THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. MY CONCERN IS THAT I HAVE BOUGHT TWO OTHER VEHICLES FROM THE SAME MANUFACTURER SINCE MY PURCHASE OF THIS VEHICLE. I WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT MY FAMILY IS SAFE WHEN RIDING IN THESE VEHICLES.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FLOOR MAT SENSOR AND CLOCK SPRING NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET AVEO. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 45 MPH WHEN HER VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A T-BONE CRASH AND THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE SIDE OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUFFERED SERIOUS INJURIES AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL VIA AMBULANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO INSURANCE COMPANY LOT BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT EXAMINED TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET AVEO LS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A MEDIAN AND A SNOW BANK. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. APPROXIMATELY TWO MONTHS LATER, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE SLID ON BLACK ICE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ROLL OVER AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT DID NOT MENTION IF THERE WERE ANY INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND WAS UNAWARE OF THE AIR BAG FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGES WAS 82,000.

MY WIFE WAS ABOUT TO CHANGE LANES AND WAS LOOKING IN HER BLIND SPOT AND WHEN SHE TURNED BACK SHE COULD NOT STOP IN TIME. I WAS IN A SEMI V CAR ACCIDENT WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 19TH, ON A 4 LANE MAJOR HIGHWAY (I-294). I WAS DRIVING A 2004 CHEVY AVEO. I WAS CUT OFF BY THE SEMI AND MY CAR WAS HIT, SPUN OUT OF CONTROL THROUGH 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC AND HIT THE CENTER MEDIAN OF THE HIGHWAY. THE CAR IS TOTALED. THE ENTIRE ENGINE BLOCK WAS SMASHEDINWARD. MY AIRBAG DIDN'T DEPLOY. I'M ANGRY. THIS CAR HAS HAD NOTHING BUT DEFECT AFTER DEFECT, BUT I PAID FOR A SAFETY FEATURE THAT WAS FAULTY. I WALKED AWAY FROM THIS ACCIDENT, BY THE GRACE OF GOD, AND NOW AM SUFFERING HORRIFIC PAIN THAT IS DIRECTLY INFLUENCED BY MY AIRBAG NOT DEPLOYING. I HAVE NO RECOURSE TO TAKE AGAINST CHEVY. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET AVEO. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE HEAD ON. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED AND DEACTIVATED THE AIR BAG SWITCH, SO THAT THE AIR BAGS WOULD NOT DEPLOY WHILE REMOVING HER FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MAJOR INJURIES BY STRIKING THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED FROM THE SCENE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 66,322.

AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON IN MID JANUARY 2008 AND HAS REMAINED ON. THE CAR JUST WENT OUT OF WARRANTY IN AUG 2007. SINCE I HAVE BEEN DEPLOYED FOR 15 MONTHS, I WAS NOT ABLE TO DISCOVER THIS PROBLEM WHILE IT WAS STILL UNDER STANDARD WARRANTY. AFTER CONTACTING CHEVROLET ABOUT SEVERAL ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES AND AIR BAG LIGHT, THEY INSTRUCTED ME TO GET IT DIAGNOSED. THE DIAGNOSIS REVEALED AN ECW FAILURE BUT NOTHING COULD BE FOUND WRONG WITH THE BRAKES. RECOMMENDATION FROM CHEVROLET SERVCO IS TO HAVE ECW FIXED. AFTER THE OCCURRENCE WITH THE BRAKES, MY HUSBAND BEGAN DRIVING THE VEHICLE. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET AVEO. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE'S AIR BAG SENSOR REPLACED THREE TIMES. THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AT 17,000 MILES. THE DEALER REPLACED THE SENSOR. AT 20,000 MILES, THE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE DEALER DOES NOT KNOW WHY THE AIR BAG LIGHT CONTINUES TO ILLUMINATE, BUT STATED THAT IF THE SENSOR DOES NOT GET REPLACED, THE AIR BAG WILL DEPLOY. AT 29,000 MILES, THE SENSOR WAS REPLACED AGAIN. AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE BUT IT FELT LOSE. THE BRAKE WAS RELEASED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BECAUSE THE WHEELS WOULD NOT MOVE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE BRAKE ASSEMBLY FELL APART. THE FAILURE RECURRED AT 40,000 MILES. THE ENGINE SIZE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 42,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000.

WHILE STOPPED AT RED LIGHT, OUR 2004 CHEVY AVEO WAS STRUCK FROM BEHIND BY A VEHICLE TRAVELING ABOUT 25-45 MPH, WHICH PROPELLED THE AVEO INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF IT. DURING THE CRASH, THE DRIVER'S SEAT MOVED BACKWARD INTO ABOUT A 45 DEGREE ANGLE AND LOCKED IN THAT POSITION AND PROVIDING MY DAUGHTER NO PROTECTION AGAINST WHIPLASH. SHE RECEIVED INJURIES TO HER NECK AND ABDOMEN, WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE IF SHE HAD NOT BEEN HOLDING ON TIGHTLY TO THE STEERING WHEEL. SHE WAS WEARING HER SEAT BELT AT THE TIME OF THE CRASH, AND THE AVEO AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *JB

INTRO: MAKE CHEVROLET MODEL KALOS 2004 [XXX]. AIRBAG WARNING INDICATOR WAS ON FOR SEVERAL TIMES (MORE THAN 10 TIMES). A CHECK WAS PERFORMED ON 13 AUGUST 2005 AND THE ONLY REPAIR WAS TO RESET THE SIGNAL FROM SCAN TOOL. THE SIGNAL REMAIN ON CONTINUOUSLY BEING A DANGEROUS SITUATION, SERVICE SHOP REFUSED INITIALLY TO REPAIR THE FAULTY SRS INITIATING THE CORRECTIVE ACTIONS WERE DELAYED FOR 4 (FOUR) MONTHS SO ON 07 DECEMBER 2005 WERE REPLACED ON MY VEHICLE BOTH SIDE AIRBAGS MODULE AND THE SDM (SENSING DIAGNOSTIC MODULE). 2. AT 10000 KM OIL SPOT APPEAR ON TOP OF THE ENGINE (ENGINE DISTRIBUTION COVER) AND EVEN REPORTED TO SERVICE SHOP MECHANICS NO ACTION WAS TAKEN IN ORDER TO INVESTIGATE AND TO CORRECT THE FAILURE TILL 40603 KM WHEN THE SPOT EXTENDED AND CONTAMINATE WITH LUBRICANT TIMING BELT AREA AND FOLLOWING PARTS HAD TO BE REPLACED: HOSE, BREATHER; TIMING BELT TIMING BELT EXPANDER OIL SEAL RING 3. BRAKE, POWER STEERING, COOLANT AND CLUTCH FLUIDS AND SPARK PLUGS WERE REPLACED LATER THAN NORMAL MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE, AND ONLY AFTER I SUBMITTED A WRITTEN COMPLAIN TO THE SERVICE SHOP MANAGER. IT SUPPOSED TO BE REPLACED AT 30 000 KM AND IT WERE REPLACED AT 38070 KM. THIS ALSO IT HAPPENED WITH THE FUEL FILTER, WHICH HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 45000 KM, AND IT WAS REPLACED AT 49200 KM. 4.IT WAS REPORTED BY THE OWNER THAT AC IS OUT OF SERVICE AT 49200 KM (EVAP CONDENSER FOUND WITH A LARGE CRACK AND REFRIGERANT FLUID LOST COMPLETELY). ACCORDING TO MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE AT 45000 KM SERVICE SHOP HAD TO INSPECT EVAP CONDENSER FROM THE CONDITIONING SYSTEM AND THE PIPELINES. AC PERIODICAL MAINTENANCE NEVER HAD BEEN PERFORMED TO THE VEHICLE AS IT WAS STATED IN THE TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS. 5.ENGINE OIL WAS NOT THE RESPECTING API SPECIFICATIONS SO INSTEAD 5W 30 SYNTHETIC OIL WAS USED 10W 40 MINERAL OIL. IT TOOK ALMOST 18 MONTHS AND 40603 KM TO CONVINCE THEM TO USE THE PROPER OIL FOR THE ENGINE. THIS THING AFFECTED ENGINE LIFE. *JB UPDATED 07/17/2012 *JS
