A DEER WAS HIT IN THE FRONT HOOD AND BUMPER OF THIS CAR WHILE DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT SECTION OF COUNTY ROAD AND NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED.

IN OCTOBER 2016 MY 2006 CHEVROLET AVEO LS HATCHBACK'S BATTERY DIED, UNABLE TO JUMPSTART ANYMORE. I REPLACED THE BATTERY AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON THE DASH HAS ILLUMINATED SOLID SINCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT. THE GM DEALERSHIP I TOOK IT TOO WASN'T ABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE. THE VEHICLE HAD 130,000 MILES AT THE TIME THE BATTERY DIED AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT THE TIME THE AIRBAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED. I NOW DO NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO RIDE WITH ME BECAUSE I'M AFRAID THAT THE AIRBAGS WILL MALFUNCTION.

READING HOW THIS ISSUE HAS NEVER BEEN RESOLVED FOR ANYONE AND CHEVROLET WONT OWN UP AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR VERY IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE, WHATS THE POINT IN EVEN TRYING BUT TO THROW THIS VEHICLE IN THE GARBAGE? LAST TIME I TOOK MY AVEO IN FOR A RECALL ON THE MODULE, THEY SAID THEY FIXED IT AND THEY DID NOT BECAUSE ITS STILL BURNING UP, SO I JUST TRY TO NOT DRIVE AT NIGHT. I HAVE A TWO YEAR OLD AND THREE YEAR OLD AND IF THOSE AIRBAGS RANDOMLY DEPLOY AND WE GET INTO A CAR ACCIDENT, THEY ARE GOING TO HAVE A LAWSUIT ON THEIR HANDS.

I TOOK THE CAR TO THE HUDGINS HOLIDAY CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP IN WILLIAMSBURG, VIRGINIA ON NOVEMBER 5, 2014 TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. AFTER A THROUGH DIAGNOSIS, THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE PROBLEM WAS A FAULTY PASSENGER SEAT OCCUPANCY SENSOR, AND IT WILL COST $1,152.00 TO REPLACE THE SENSOR. I SEARCHED THE WEB AND DISCOVERED THAT THIS APPEARS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR THE AVEO. I FOUND A CONSIDERABLE NUMBER OF ENTRIES WHERE OTHER AVEO OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. SINCE THIS A SAFETY ISSUE, BECAUSE THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IN A CRASH, AND SINCE IT SEEMS TO EFFECT MANY AVEOS, I FEEL THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE THE SUBJECT OF A RECALL, OR AS A MINIMUM, GM SHOULD REPLACE THE SENSOR AT NO COST TO THE EFFECTED AVEO OWNERS. *TR

WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, A BOLT IN THE BROKE, WHICH CAUSED THE ENGINE TO COLLAPSE AND LANDED ON THE AXLE, BREAKING IT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. ALSO, SHE HAD THE AXLE REPLACED PREVIOUSLY, NOT KNOWING THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FRAME. DUE TO THE FRAME DAMAGE AND WARPED UNDERCARRIAGE, A BOLT CONNECTED TO THE FRAME THAT WAS CONNECTED TO THE MOTOR MOUNT HIDDEN UNDER THE ENGINE HAD PREVIOUSLY BENT AND SEVERED 3/4 OF THE WAY THROUGH THE BOLT. IT WENT UN-DETECTED AND HER MECHANIC DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR, SINCE THE FRAME WAS NOT DISCLOSED. *JB

THERE WIRING ISSUES AIR BAG LIGHTS ON AND CLOCK COMES ON AND OFF THIS YEAR ODOMETER MILEAGE IS FADING AND HEADLIGHTS ON NO LIGHT FOR MILEAGE. LOW FUEL AND LOW WATER DOES NOT COME ON AND ON THE 7/1 AND TWO TIMES ON 7/4 HER SPEEDOMETER IS NOT READING RIGHT IT READ 15 MILES OFF FROM WHAT THE CAR IS GOING FASTER. THE THREE TIMES GETTING PULLED OVER AND SHE SAID THE GAUGE BEEN ACTING WEIRD THEN GOES BACK TO NORMAL THE ONE COP SAID I KNOW THATS WHY I DON'T HAVE ONE OF THESE CARS AND STILL GAVE HER A TICKET. SO NOW THE CAR SITS UNTIL THE RECALL BUT THE BEST THING ( NOT ) I HAVE TWO AVEOS MY HUSBANDS THAT SIT AND WE GET TO SHARE BETWEEN THE THREE OF US IS MY VAN THAT'S A DODGE. I HAVE A 2006 CHEVROLET AVEO 5 DOOR. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW. AT 32,000 MILES THE AIRBAG MIL CAME ON, NOT DUE TO ANY ACCIDENT OR OTHER EVENT WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSED A PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAGS. I RETURNED THE CAR TO THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP; THEY SAID THE ISSUE WAS DUE TO A LOOSE CONNECTION AT THE STEERING WHEEL WHICH THEY HAD CORRECTED. LATER THAT DAY, WHILE DRIVING, THE AIRBAG MIL CAME ON ONCE AGAIN, NOT DUE TO ANY ACCIDENT OR OTHER EVENT WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSED A PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAGS. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS A "NORMAL" PROBLEM ON THIS CAR AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO RETURN THE CAR TO THEM FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR. DURING ONE TRIP TO THE STORE WHILE MY DAUGHTER WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT THE LIGHT STAYED ON SO I DROVE TO THE DEALER, BOTH THE GENERAL MANAGER AND THE SERVICE MANAGER SAW HER IN THE SEAT WITH THE LIGHT ON. THEY RAN DIAGNOSTICS ON THE CAR AND IT SHOWS NO MALFUNCTIONS. THEY STATED THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO SINCE THE DIAGNOSTICS DIDN'T SHOW ANY ERROR CODES. HOW SAFE IS THIS!!! IT IS IMPERATIVE THE GENERAL MOTORS BE FORCED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AS I HAVE WRITTEN THE PRESIDENT AND YET THE 2007 STILL HAS THE SAME AIR BAG SYSTEM.
