The interior dash caught on fire and burned only in the middle of the dashboard. This happened hours after it started smoking inside the car and the headlights would not turn off even though they were already off.
Lights malfunction. Headlights dim intermittently, turn signal causes headlights to turn off, dashboard lights do not work, running lights work intermittently. The splice pack in the fuse box is burnt and so are the wires connected to it.
The splicer connected to the fuse box in the engine burns up after a while of use causing the Dash lights, right brake light and front marker light to not work at night. It is a major safety issue and hundreds/thousands of complaints online (via google) have been made about it burning up.
This is happening to my car. Would like them to fix it . Manufacture defect and it is a huge safety issue. Effect pedal function. Some customers may comment on an intermittent malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) being Illuminated with a message or an indicator that displays Reduced Engine Power. The technician may observe on a scan tool DTC P2138 - Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor 1-2 Correlation set as Current or in History. This condition may be caused by water intrusion into the instrument panel (IP) to body harness connector, which carries the APP sensor signals to the ECM/PCM. This water intrusion results in a voltage difference between APP Sensor 1 and APP Sensor 2 that exceeds a predetermined value for more than a calibrated period of time, setting P2138. This technical bulletin provides repair information for repairing the ip to body harness connector to correct a customer concern for intermittent malfunction indicator lamp (mil) illuminated with reduced engine power displayed and dtc p2138 set. MY ELECTRICAL PANEL WAS DEFECTIVE, SENT IN 4 TIMES AND THEY CLAIMED TO REPLACE THE ELECTRICAL PANEL. IT WAS RIGGED BY CROSSING WIRES AND LIGHTS IN DASH DONT WORK AND RADIO TAPPED INTO WIPERS. THEN CALIPERS,SWAY ARMS,SHOCKS, CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS DEFECTIVE AND ALSO NEVER REPLACED RIGHT. PAID SOMEONE TO PUT EMISSIONS STICKER TO PASS.

THATS MY LARGEST ISSUE IS THAT I BOUGHT A CHEVY. AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AFTER HAVING THE BATTERY DEAD TWICE BECAUSE OF THE ALTERNATOR GOING BAD TWICE. IM UP FOR INSPECTION AND THIS CAR WILL NOT PASS. READING HOW THIS ISSUE HAS NEVER BEEN RESOLVED FOR ANYONE AND CHEVROLET WONT OWN UP AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR VERY IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE, WHATS THE POINT IN EVEN TRYING BUT TO THROW THIS VEHICLE IN THE GARBAGE? LAST TIME I TOOK MY AVEO IN FOR A RECALL ON THE MODULE, THEY SAID THEY FIXED IT AND THEY DID NOT BECAUSE ITS STILL BURNING UP, SO I JUST TRY TO NOT DRIVE AT NIGHT. I HAVE A TWO YEAR OLD AND THREE YEAR OLD AND IF THOSE AIRBAGS RANDOMLY DEPLOY AND WE GET INTO A CAR ACCIDENT, THEY ARE GOING TO HAVE A LAWSUIT ON THEIR HANDS.

PRIOR TO BURNING SMELL, THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS ALL INSIDE DASH LIGHTS AND CLOCK LIGHTS AND GEAR SHIFT LIGHTS WENT OUT WHILE CAR WAS IN MOTION ON A MAJOR CITY STREET. ON A WINTER MORNING I WENT OUT AND STARTED MY CAR TO GO TO WORK, I GOT ON THE ROAD AND REALIZED THAT MY DASHBOARD , HEATING CONTROL, AND SHIFTER LIGHTS DID NOT WORK. I MOVED THE SETTINGS SWITCH AND NOTHING CAME ON. I HAVE CHECKED THE FUSES. THEY ARE FINE. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND IT SEEMS THAT MANY AVEOS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. AND THE ONLY FIX IS TO REWIRE THE SYSTEM. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. IF I TAKE IT TO THE SHOP IT'S GOING TO COST ANYWHERE BETWEEN 50-100 DOLLARS OR MORE. IF ITS A PROBLEM TO THE CONSUMERS THEN IT SHOULD BE A RECALL AND NOT JUST A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. IF THIS IS A WIRING ISSUE THEN IT COULD POSSIBLY END UP CAUSING A FIRE.

I TOOK IT TO DEALER TO FIX DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS MODULE, I ALSO HAD AIRBAG LIGHT CHECK AND THEY SAID THE WIRING HARNESS MELTED AND IT COST ME OVER $300.00 TO FIX. MY KEY WAS STUCK IN THE IGNITION BETWEEN THE "ACCESSORY" SETTING AND HAVING THE CAR RUNNING. I GOOGLED THE PROBLEM; RECOMMENDED FIX WAS TO REMOVE FUSE FOR RADIO, SO I DID. I WAS ABLE TO REMOVE KEYS FROM IGNITION BUT WHEN I WAS READY TO LEAVE AGAIN I COULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF 'PARK.' I PUT THE RADIO FUSE BACK IN, AND MY GEARSHIFT & TRANSMISSION WORK PERFECTLY. SINCE THE RECALL THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS HAVE STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER AND THE ELECTRICAL SMELL HAS GOTTEN WORSE. AFTER THEY CHECKED IT, THEY SAID IT WAS NOTHING RELATED TO THEM BUT THAT THEY HOOKED IT UP TO A MACHINE AND IT WAS READING 11 DIFFERENT TYPES OF CENSORS CAUSING IT TO MISFIRE. THEY HAD JUST HAD IN A 2007 CHEVY COBALT DOING THE SAME THING THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON. WONDERING IF THE RECALL FOR THE 2006 AVEO FOR THE DRL WOULD CAUSE THESE PROBLEMS?! ALSO, SHE HAD THE AXLE REPLACED PREVIOUSLY, NOT KNOWING THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FRAME. DUE TO THE FRAME DAMAGE AND WARPED UNDERCARRIAGE, A BOLT CONNECTED TO THE FRAME THAT WAS CONNECTED TO THE MOTOR MOUNT HIDDEN UNDER THE ENGINE HAD PREVIOUSLY BENT AND SEVERED 3/4 OF THE WAY THROUGH THE BOLT. IT WENT UN-DETECTED AND HER MECHANIC DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR, SINCE THE FRAME WAS NOT DISCLOSED. *JB

THEN, RPM GAUGE STARTED MOVING ERRATICALLY FOR ABOUT A WEEK AND THEN STOPPED WORKING ALTOGETHER. FORTUNATELY, THIS FIXED THE PROBLEM WITH THE FUSE BLOWING, BUT OVERTIME, MY TEMPERATURE GAUGE DID THE SAME THING, AND NOW MY FUEL GAUGE IS STARTING TO GO. IF I DRIVE OVER 55 MPH, SOMETIMES THE RPM AND FUEL GAUGE WILL MOVE, BUT NOT ACCURATELY. WHEN I DID THINK THAT THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED FOR THOSE THREE WEEKS, I HAD TAKEN THE CAR IN FOR ANOTHER PROBLEM. SPEEDOMETER/INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS NOT WORKING INTERIOR LIGHTS NOT WORKING TAIL LIGHTS OR BRAKE LIGHTS NOT WORKING ALL OF THIS HAPPENED SUDDENLY WHEN I WAS DRIVING AT NIGHT. I HAVE A 2006 AVEO. IN THE LAST 12 MONTHS, THE CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR LOSS OF POWER TWICE, THROTTLE SENSOR REPLACED. BATTERY REPLACED, HEADLIGHTS BLOW OUT WITHIN MONTHS OF BEING REPLACED. IGNITION GETS EXTREMELY HOT. RADIO BLEW OUT, A/C NO LONGER WORKS, PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT HAS NOW BURNED OUT, INSTRUMENT PANEL/SHIFTER LIGHTS GOING OUT. AND THE CAR IS NOW BACK IN THE SHOP WITH A BAD ALTERNATOR. THE COST OF REPAIRING THIS VEHICLE IN THE LAST 12 MONTHS IS RIDICULOUS...NOT TO MENTION THE TOWING, THE STRANDEDNESS AND STRESS. I ALSO HAVE A 2000 TOYOTA COROLLA THAT HAS NEVER BEEN IN THE SHOP SINCE I PURCHASED IT OTHER THAN ROUTINE REPAIRS.....THE AVEO IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY, EVEN WHEN PURCHASED USED. *TR

2006 & 2007 CHEVY AVEO SVM MODELS. BOTH ALTERNATORS FAILED WITHIN 1 MONTH OF EACH OTHER. DEALER CLAIMS TO HAVE REPLACED 'MANY' ALTERNATORS FOR AVEO MODEL IN JUST THE LAST WEEK. DEALER CLAIMS THAT AVEO HAS THIS PROBLEM WITH ALTERNATORS, BUT THEY ARE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. ALTERNATOR CAUSES MASSIVE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS THROUGHOUT CAR. ONE CAR LOST BATTERY, DOME LIGHT, RADIO, WIPERS, THROTTLE SENSOR DUE TO MALFUNCTIONING ALTERNATOR. ALTERNATOR ON AVEO SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM AS IT IS A PREVALENT ISSUE FOR THE MODEL. THIS IS A CONDITION THAT IS A SAFTY HASZARD. I HAVE RECENTLY PURCHASED A CHEVROLET AVEO. I NOTICED THE SPEED DID NOT SEEM RIGHT. I HAD THIS CHECKED BY THE DAELER I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM. IT WAS OF 7-9%. THE SPEED READS HIGHER THAN YOU ARE GOING. THIS IS NOT A CONSTANT. IT MAY BE RIGHT ONE TIME AND READ WRONG THE NEXT. THIS LEADS TO ESTIMATING YOU SPEED AS TO NOT BECOME A HAZARD FOR OTHER MOTORISTS. CHEVROLET INFORMED ME THEY KNOW THIS AND IT IS NORMAL! THEY HAVE NO FIX FOR THIS AND BASICLY TOLD ME I WILL HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT! THIS IS A CAR I PURCHASED NEW! HOW CAN THEY SELL A CAR WITH THIS FAULT? THE NUMBER OF FAILURES IS A GUESS- I HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING HOW MANY TIMES IT HAS HAPPENED.
