EGR VALVE MAKES CAR SURGE AND DIE ALMOST EVERY YEAR AND WE HAVE TO PAY SEVERAL HUNDRED TO CHANGE IT OUT EACH TIME. ($50+ JUST TO GET THE CAR CHECKED BY THEM SO THEY CAN TELL ME ITS A CODE 32-BAD EGR THEN 2-3 HUNDRED FOR PART AND LABOR). OF COURSE I STOPPED USING THE DEALERSHIPS AND WENT TO A SMALL BUSINESS MECHANIC AND CUT $100 OFF THAT. THE OTHER PROBLEM IS THE FUEL PUMP HAS GIVEN OUT TWICE BUT MY SON HAS FIXED IT EACH TIME FOR ME.

I WAS TOLD I HAVE ALOT OF CARBON BUILDUP AROUND THE EGR PORTS AND THIS IS BREAKING/FLAKING OFF. THE DEALER SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO TAKE THE CYLINDER HEADS AND INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET AND SUBMERGE IN A HOT TANK OF ACID TO CLEAN THE CARBON OFF THESE PARTS. THE REPAIR QUOTE WAS $1600.00 AND THERE WAS NO QUARANTEE HOW LONG THIS WOULD TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEMS I AM HAVING WITH THIS VEHICLE.

WHILE ON VACATION ENGINE STALLED GETTING OFF EXIT. RAN THROUGH INTERSECTION DUE TO NO BREAKS AND SLUGGISH STEERING. HAD EGR VALVE REPLACED AT LOCAL GARAGE. SAME THING HAPPEND ABOUT 50 MILES LATER. CAR WAS TOWED TO CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP, CONNECTED TO COMPUTER SYSTEM. WE WERE TOLD THAT CHEVROLET'S FIX FOR THIS WAS A NEW COMPUTER CHIP (PROM). THE VALVE HAS NOT FAILED SINCE. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM. IF THERE HAD BEEN ANYTHING AT THE INTERSECTION WE DROVE THOUGH, SOMEONE COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED. NOT TO MENTION THIS COST OVER $600.00 TO DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR.

THE CONSUMER HAD REQUESTED FOR NEW PUMP BUT THE DEALER DID NOT ACCEPT IT ALSO, SEVICE THE ENGINE LIGHT DOES NOT APPEAR WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLS. *YH
