I HAD JUST PUT MY KEY IN THE IGNITION WENT TO TURN IT OVER AND NOTICED THAT MY HAZARDS WERE ON. THE SWITCH WAS IN THE OFF POSITION. I HAD TO SLIGHTLY KEEP IT PUSHED FORWARD OR IT WOULD CYCLE THROUGH THE HAZARDS, LEFT TURN SIGNAL AND RIGHT TURN SIGNAL. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET THE PROBLEM FIXED SINCE IT JUST HAPPENED YESTERDAY

THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED OUT TO EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *NM
CONSUMER STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AND WITHOUT WARNING, THE EGR VALVE FAILED, WHICH CAUSED THE BRAKES TO FAIL. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK THE MIXING WITH THE FUEL WAS THE BIGGEST PROBLEM. (WHEN THERE WAS CARBON BUILD UP IN THE EGR VALVE, IT WOULD LEAVE IT OPEN AND CAUSED NO VACUUM HARD PEDAL AND BRAKE FAILURE. WHEN IT RAINED OR WAS COLD THE TRUCK RAN ROUGH. THE SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD RUN ROUGH MORE THAN ONCE, NOISE WAS PRESENT AND THERE WAS A SMELL OF BURNT WIRES AND THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED, THE BRAKE PEDAL SEEMED SOFT ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION AND THE MASTER CYLINDER AND OTHER BRAKE COMPONENTS WERE REPLACED TO TRY AND SOLVE THE PROBLEM, THE CD PLAYER HAD NOT WORKED SINCE THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS CHANGED, THE REAR WINDSHIELD WIPERS HAD BECOME INOPERATIVE, A NOISE WOULD OCCUR WHEN TURNING BUT WAS NOT DUPLICATED, AND THE MUFFLER TAIL PIPE HAD FALLEN OFF AND RUSTED DUE TO CARBON BUILD-UP. THE EGR VALVE WAS CLEANED BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT IN ORDER TO PERFORM A PROPER JOB, THE EXCESSIVE CARBON BUILD UP IN THE UPPER AND LOWER INTAKE MANIFOLD WHICH EFFECTED THE EGR PENDEL, AND THE 02 SENSOR COULD CAUSE A PROBLEM WITH THE EXHAUST SYSTEM, CATALYTIC CONVERTER, FUEL PUMP, THE BRAKES, ETC. THE BRAKES SQUEAKED, THERE WERE NO DASH LIGHTS, NO AIR CONDITIONING, AND NO 4-WHEEL DRIVE. THE FUEL INJECTIONS NEEDED TO BE CHECKED, AND THERE WERE TWO RECALL STICKERS ON THE ENGINE. *SCC THE REAR WIPER MOTOR, FUEL INJECTORS AND BRAKES WERE REPLACED. *JB

WE HAVE HAD REPEATED PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE FROM APPROXIMATELY 4000 AND GOING FORWARD. THE FIRST INDICATION OF PROBLEMS WITH ELECTRICAL WAS WHEN THE EMERGENCY FLASHERS WERE USED THE FIRST TIME AND IT BLEW THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AT APPROXIMATELY 4000 MILES WE HAD OWNED THE BLAZER LESS THAN 6 MONTHS AT THIS TIME. WE HAVE HAD SERVICE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT INDICATOR PROBLEMS REPEATEDLY AND WAS TOLD EVERY TIME BUT 1 THAT IT WAS "NOTHING" AND LATER WE HAVE PROBLEMS THAT ARE CONVENIENTLY NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY ANY MORE. THE SOFT PLUGS BLEW IN THE ENGINE IN 9-1999 AND WE WERE TOLD BY THE GARAGE THAT REPAIRED THIS THAT HE HAD SEEN THIS BEFORE ... THE ANTIFREEZE USED DETERIORATES THE PLUGS AND THEY EVENTUALLY LEAK AND THE ENGINE OVERHEATS. THE GM DEALER THAT WE TOOK THE BLAZER TO ON THIS OCCASIONS FOR A SECOND OPINION 11-2000 --THIS DEALER HAD ANOTHER 1995 BLAZER IN THE SHOP AT THE SAME TIME WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. I THOUGHT THIS WAS ODD FOR A TOWN OF 25,000 PEOPLE AND OF COURSE THE 800 LINE TO GM CUSTOMER SERVICES ADVISED ME THAT IT WAN'T ANYTHING THAT COULD BE COVERED. WE ALSO HAD THE LEATHER SEAT REPLACED ON DRIVER SIDE 2 TIMES BUT CONTINUE TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH LEATHER SPLITTING AND OF COURSE THIS IS NOT COVERED.. ALL WE ARE ABLE TO GET FROM GM IS THE ANSWER "NO" WHENEVER WE FEEL THAT SOMETHING SHOULD BE COVERED... WE HAVE PUT OVER 2000 .00 IN REPAIRS IN THE ENGINE AND WIPERS AND FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM IN THE PAST FROM 9-1999 THRU 11 28 2000.... AND THE PROBLEMS CONTINUES.. THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIFHT COMES ON AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT GOES OFF AND ON AND STAY S ON FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME... AND OF COURSE WHEN I CALLED LAST WEEK ON THE AIR BAG... LITE IT WAS. *AK
A SMALL AMOUNT OF SMOKE COMES OUT FROM THE DASH (NEAR THE BLOWER SWITCH) WHEN THE BLOWER MOTOR SWITCH IS IN THE NUMBER 2ND LOW POSITION. THERE IS ALSO A BURNING SMELL WHEN THIS OCCURS.
SUV LOST TOTAL ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. LIGHTS, POWER STEERING, GAUGES, ALL ELECTRICAL WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREET. AAA TOW DRIVER INDICATED THAT MY POSITVE BATTERY TERMINAL WAS LEAKING DOWN ONTO TO THE CABLE HARNESS CAUSING THE CABLE TO BREAK. HE SAID HE SEES THIS PROBLEM (LEAKING + TERMINAL) ONCE A WEEK. GM TRUCK CHASIS WITH AN AC DELCO BATTERY AND ALWAYS THE POSITIVE CABLE. REPAIR FACILITY CONFIRMED DIAGNOSIS AND SAID TO HANG ONTO MY RECEIPT BECAUSE GM MAY BE DOING A RECALL. BOTH PARTIES SAID THAT GM HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FOR SOME TIME. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS INJURED, BUT IMAGINE IF I WERE ON THE FREEWAY DOING 65 MPH WITH MY WIFE AND KIDS IN THE CAR? HOW MUCH WOULD A REFUND MEAN TO ME THEN? I PLAN ON SENDING A COPY OF THIS TO SENATOR FRED UPTON (R -MICH) IN SUPPORT OF THE "THREAD" ACT. .

FUSE BLEW & WAS REPLACED. FUSE BOX SPARKED & SUNVISOR ON THE DRIVER SIDE WITH A VANITY MIRROR STARTED SMOKING NEAR THE HINGE. WIRES MELTED DOWN & THE SUNVISOR WAS DISCONNECTED. MALFUNCTION OCCURRED IN HINGE OF SUNVISOR, WIRE CUT IN HINGE AND EXPOSED TO METAL CAUSING SHORTAGE AND MELTDOWN OF WIRING. DEALER TO NOTIFY MANUFACTURER ON POSSIBLE REPLACEMENT. *AK *ML

THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT EVERYTHING LOOKED ALRIGHT, BUT I CAN'T TELL IF IT IS. TODAY I READ AN ARTICLE ABOUT GENERAL MOTORS VEHICLES FOR 1995 TO 1997 MODEL YEARS WITH A BATTERY LEAKAGE/BREAK SAFETY PROBLEM. DO I NEED TO BE CONCERNED WITH THIS. NOTICED WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. PULLED TO SIDE & LIFTED HOOD. FLAMES WERE COMING FROM LEFT SIDE OF ENGINE (BRAIN BOX). THE ELECTRICAL WIRES WERE BURNED. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL WITHOUT INDICATIONS, BLOWING A FUSE. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED . PLEASE PROVIDE FUTHER INFORMATION. *AK
HAVE HAD MAJOR ENGINE PROBLEMS SINCE FIRST YEAR OF OWNERSHIP. HAD TO REPLACE BATTERY 3 TIMES (FIRST TIME WITHIN FIRST YEAR), HAVE BEEN STRANDED BECAUSE OF A "NO-START" PROBLEM 6 TIMES SINCE PURCHASE, DEALER AND TWO OTHER MECHANICS CANNOT FIND CAUSE, BRAKES HAVE A VERY POOR PERFORMANCE AND MUST BE REPLACED FREQUENTLY, FUEL PUMP REPLACED, IGNITION REPLACED, NOW THE ENGINE HAS "BLOWN" ALL ON A VEHICLE THAT HAS BEEN PROPERLY MAINTAINED AND NOT ABUSED. THIS IS THE MOST UNRELIABLE, COSTLY, STRESS-CUASING VEHICLE I HAVE EVER OWNED AND I WOULD LIKE CHEVROLET TO TAKE SOME RESPONSIBILITY FOR A VERY POORLY BUILT (LEMON) CAR. *AK
FAILED FUEL PUMP REPLACED, FUEL FILTER REPLACED, VEHICLE IS STILL EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO START. EGR FAILED CAUSING ROUGH RUNNING AND STALLING. SPARK PLUGS FAILED CAUSING ROUGH RUNNING AND STALLING. HIGH PRESSURE OIL HOSE FAILED CAUSING POTENTIAL LOSS OF ENGINE OIL. LEFT DOOR REMOTE LOCK FAILED CAUSING DOOR TO REMAIN LOCKED WHEN REMOTE UNLOCK IS ATTEMPTED. CRANKSHAFT REAR MAIN SEAL WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY BUT STILL LEAKS. *AK

CONSUMER THEN OPENED THE HOOD AND NOTICED FLAMES AT THE BACK DRIVERS SIDE OF THE COMPARTMENT. FIRE DEPARTMENT PUT THE FLAMES OUT, AND SAID IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL FIRE.
