My car lost power twice in the middle of heavy traffic we could have gotten killed .i was told it was a battery I bought a battery it happened again .The car goes totally black and it locks you in the vehicle you can’t get out I had to call for help scared to death
Dashboard goes on like a Christmas tree (almost all lights turn on ABS GAS LIGHT TRACTION CONTROL PARKING SERVICE LIGHT) check engine stays on then disappears after a few days. Transmission won’t gear into shifts only stays in one shift.
The well known Shift to Park issue where the park sensor is off and my vehicle won’t shut off without being able to register it’s in park. Auto garage quoted $600+ to replace the entire shift assembly. There’s a service bulletin out for this issue and the specific 2019 blazer but no recall
1.The vehicle does not recognize it's in park periodically and will not shut off 2. Thermostat housing and thermostat failure 3. Tint covered chrome on exterior of body peeling off Only had the car 3 weeks Currently at dealership repairing thermostat out of pocket
I keep getting this message that pops up, "Steering Assist reduced Drive with Care". At the same time this happens the temp gauge stays on cold, the ac quits working, the engine fan is on high, and most of the time I get code PO128. We have had it in to the dealer and they said the its the thermostat or the temp sensor. From what I am reading it could be a factory issue with the EMI issue from sensitive ECT circuitry. This has been an ongoing issue for us for over a year.
I am currently receiving a shift to park message displayed while my vehicle has been put in park and after I turn the vehicle off. While the message is displayed, the doors will not lock and a bell will not stop dinging, notifying me of the error. I have to start the vehicle, shift into gear, shift into park, and turn off several times before the error disappears. I have an appointment to have the dealer look at it this week.
At startup, I would receive a message that said, steering assist reduced. There were no check engine lights or warning lights. My air conditioning stopped working, and my temperature gauge on the dash remained at cold. I also noticed the radiator fans were on full blast, continuously. I called the dealer, and they weren't sure what was causing that. I told them I was getting codes #U0401 & P0128. They asked me to clear the codes to see if they returned. I cleared the codes, but they returned immediately on restart of the engine. I'm going to replace the thermostat but i didn't understand the #U0401 code, so did further research. I found 2017 Bulletin #17-NA-158 which seamed relevent to my issues, and Vehicle Fitment that confirmed my 2019 Chevy Blazer is included. I then came to find that the un-shielded low voltage wires for the coolant temperature sensor are routed through the same harness as high voltage coil wiring. Some of us know that EMI will affect low voltage signals. As an HVAC system designer, I know that un-shielded low voltage communication wiring cannot run parallel two line voltage power wiring. The effects are not continuous, but definitely reoccurring. I also understand there has not been a recall for this issue which surprises me. I can replace the thermostat even in its difficult position, but I don't feel comfortable in separating the low voltage wiring from the harness. I understand that dealers who are aware of this issue, charge a hefty fee to do so. It's definitely one that I can't afford.
coolant temp gauge stuck on cold, AC quits blowing cold air, reads the thermostat code when check engine light comes on. Was told my car needs a new thermostat and a coolant temp sensor. This has proven to be a common issue among Blazers. there is no rhyme or reason when this happens and will fix itself after a while, but then happens again.
35,000 miles and P0128 code that does not resolve after expensive repairs of coolant Temperature sensor and thermostat multiple times.
P0128 error, power steering reduced warning, cooling fans on, no a/c and temp gauge stuck on cold
1. Wire harness with coil wires is the problem. It was fixed by a local shop and the vehicle can be inspected if needed. 2. The car throws a code for a faulty thermostat/coolant temp sensor. This will not allow the car get to oporating temp and could cause engine damage or not perform properly causing risk of an accident. Also this will reduce the driver assist features such as lane assist and adaptive cruise/braking. 3. Yes. 4. A local shop inspected the thermostat and coolant temp sensor and they oporated as they should. 5. The engine light comes on for the reasons mentioned above. It also has a "driver assist reduced" message. It appeared randomly while driving and stayed on for multiple days. Vehicle had a code for a bad thermostat/coolant temp sensor and "driver assist reduced" message. The cause is NOT the temp sensor or thermostat and is actually a wiring harness that two wires need to be separated from the bunch. The frequency from one wire interferes with the coolant temp sensor wires. I am on several forums for chevy blazers and there are TONS of posts about this issue with the 3.6 V6. Most people will go in and have these expensice parts replaced. It is not acceptable to have people get charged for a $800+ job when the part is not faulty.
I bought a 2019 Chevy Blazer in February 2023 . The vehicle has issues when I fill it with gas. As soon as I gas up to full it starts jerking immediately afterwards. It makes loud popping sounds. The engine dies completely. It starts to tremble and will not go. When I try to turn in back on , the starter works very hard before it will turn back on. It does turn back on eventually but I have to pull over to the side and accelerate the engine until it finally stays on. I drives that way turning off at lights and stops. After about 10-15 minutes of this , it finally stays on long enough to drive another 20 minutes or so to get home. After it rests for a few hours, it goes like normal. This is a big safety concern for me since these episodes happen every week when I fill up my car with gas. I have almost been hit from behind during these episodes and it is very scary and such a hassle to have to deal with this every week. I have already had several Chevy dealers and mechanics work on this problem and it continues to act up like this. I have all the paperwork for the work that has been done. $15, 000 have already been spent on this problem and the problem still continues. Please help me. I like chevy vehicles and have always bought chevy but this is the second chevy vehicle that has given me problems when I gas up. Please look into this problem. Steering assist reduction from coolant temperature reading malfunction. Power steering reduction risking potential loss of control of vehicle. Code confirmed by Chevy dealer.
AC not working, Temp Gauge stuck at C, Steering assist reduced Happened a year ago, went away, came back. Would fix short term if battery was disconnected and reconnected or if code was cleared. Found lots of others with this same issue
When I shift the car into park and turn it off I get a message that it isn’t in park though it is as displayed on the console. To clear the message I have to move the shifter back and forward several times. I’ve had it in the shop twice already but the problem continues to return. This should be a recall!!
With great frequency when I put my 2019 Chevrolet Blazer into park position I receive the error message to "Put vehicle into park" when it is in fact in the Park position after done driving. I've tried putting the car into drive again or reverse then back into park position or trying to turn the car off then back on and this does not clear the message. I am unable to turn the vehicle off completely until the message has cleared. The vehicle remains in Auxiliary mode until the message has cleared which takes several attempts. This is a huge inconvenience!! My local Chevrolet service center has checked my VIN information and there are no active, repaired or expired recalls for my vehicle. This has been a long time issue with this type of vehicle according to the Blazer forum. PLEASE ISSUE RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE ASAP!
When the vehicle is in park and you try to turn it off with the start/stop button an on dash error code of ‘Shift to Park’ appears even though the vehicle is clearly in park. You are not able to turn the vehicle off. This currently is forcing me to restart the engine, put my car in reverse, shift back in drive, try re-parking and turning it off again, repeating the process until it eventually turns off. I do not know if my car is truly in gear or not. I’m afraid that it might cause a dangerous situation. GM has already identified this recall for other VINs of 2019 Chevy Blazers I believe it should be extended to additional VINs.
I recently stopped at a local store and put the car in park. A message appeared on the dash Shift to Park. I was not able to turn the car off and I had to move the gear shift back and forth until the message went off. I couldn't lock the car correctly by moving away from it. I used the key fob to eventually lock the the car. My concern is that if my wife is driving, she may not be able to lock or move the vehicle. This seems very unsafe. Should this be brought to the attention of the local Chevrolet dealer?
Shift into Park warning when turning vehicle off even though vehicle is in park.
PARK TO SHIFT CODE DISPLAYS, WOULD BE AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION. My 2019 Blazer won't shut off the electrical system because of a "shift to park" error. This causes a drain to the battery and could leave me stranded. The problem is simple electrical switch that is not making the connection to tell the car to shut off. This is a well documented problem with chevy vehicles in the late 2010s and includes multiple models. I have not had the problem verified by a Chevrolet dealer. I've reviewed multipe youtube videos that has had 10s of thousands of views which demonstrates the problem is very wide spread. Why is this not being recalled?
When placing the vehicle in the park position and attempting to shut the vehicle off with the push button my DIC flashes a message stating to 'shift vehicle into park'. I have to move the shifter from park to another gear several times in order to keep this from appearing and allowing me to turn my vehicle off. I can take up to 5-6 times before I can get the vehicle to allow me to turn it off. I'm not really sure if it is or isn't in park even when I do this at that point. I have had this happen on multiple occasions over multiple months.
When I am shifting my vehicle to park (gear shift in console area) and turn my vehicle off I will get an error code in my dashboard that I need to shift to park. My gear shift in the console is lite up P and my dashboard electronic system says P; but when I try to turn my car off it won't turn off and stays on again giving me the error code that need to shift to park. I then have to turn my car back on to then try and turn it off with the same error code coming on. I can try pushing the gear shift further with no success, shift to different gears back to park, and try waiting a few minutes after shifting to park before turning it off and still no success. This is a safety issue that my car is not really in park and will take off if I take my foot off the brake when this is all occurring. I at one point had to turn my vehicle on and back off with no success at least 5 times before I can finally get it to turn off. This problem has been confirmed by multiple Chevrolet dealerships with all of them saying they have seen many vehicles (same make and model with other models included) with this issue. Manufacturer knows about it.
When the vehicle is shifted into park the indicator on the dashboard and the on the console next to the shifter display 'P' but when ignition is turned off a warning on the dash shows shift into park. It is on the web with multiple complaints. This problem appears on other GM platforms.
We had the shift to park issue 3 years ago and fixed it. Cost near $300. Now we are taking it back in for the same exact issue. In addition to this issue all the lights on the dash board keep coming sporadically and on star sent us report with a ton of engine and transmission issues.
This is a safety issue in that the shifter wire harness malfunctions and will not let the electrical system to confirm that the car is in park and won’t let it cut off. I have had this repaired once, and it is now beginning to show the same thing. 1) you can’t cut the car off. 2). Letting it run until the automatic cut-off kicks in can run the battery down. 3)you can shut it off in neutral, but the key alarm sounds the entire time and if the parking brake does not hold, it can roll. Leaving a car unlocked can lead to theft, but it also can lead to someone getting into your car for other reasons.
When in park my car says “shift to park” when it has clearly been shifted into park. I’ve read forums and it’s the same issue for many Chevrolet cars
I placed the shifter into the park position & a warning came on the dash stating the car is not in park as I turned off the ignition. The warning on the dash as well as an audible warning. I had to use the key fob to lock the doors. I took the car to the dealership for repairs.
I cannot shut off my vehicle. When I turn off engine warning message and alert binging tells me to shift to park. The vehicle is in park but vehicle does not register that it’s in park. I’m stuck in vehicle which will not stop alerts and runs down battery. This is a hazardous situation. I can’t tell if car is actually engaged in park or not. This started happening intermittently over the last month but now it happens 8 times out of 10 when I try to shut off the vehicle.
When parking gear is in park but when turning car off car is saying gear is not in park.Turning car back on gear says in park but when turning back off still says shift to park and then you have to willing gear to see what’s going on. If gear is saying in park but actually not in park it can damage to car & people unknowingly
While using my vehicle, twice in one day, my vehicle failed to recognize that it was in park. My 2019 Chevrolet Blazer essentially malfunctioned, and was unable to recognize that it was in park, which left me unable to leave the car to go into my office building. The car was in fact in park, but did not recognize this fact. I tried exiting the vehicle and closing the door, but the car still would not turn off. I was left to essentially babysit my car, while attempting to work the gear shifter back and forth between drive, reverse, and park, until it eventually finally accepted that it was set to park, and allowed me to fully power the car down. If I am unable to have the car recognize that it is in park, I am unable to leave it, as it can be started and driven without the FOB due to the potential safety hazard of the vehicle thinking it is not properly shifted into park. The battery will also be drained, effectively leaving me with an inoperable vehicle. In the image I attached, please view the bottom right corner of the dashboard which indicates "P" for park, while the vehicle still states that I am not shifted into park. I have a video of this incident, and it appears many consumers with select models of Chevrolet and GMC cars also have this issue. I find it appalling that many have already discovered this issue, yet no recall has been placed to fix this widely known issue (even by GM according to their bulleting regarding this).
I have a 2019 Chevy Blazer RS with 12,350 miles on it. As you can tell I use it locally. A month ago I pulled into my garage, put the car into park, shut the car off & a warning came across the dash saying "Shift to Park". I started the car back up, put the car in neutral then park & shut it off. The message was gone so I blamed it on something I must have done. Two weeks later the same thing happened. I did the same routine and it fixed itself. This time I started taking notice. Last week it did it again. Today was the worse. I was at the grocery store and it took 3-5 minutes to fix it. I already have an appointment at the dealership on 3/20/24 for an oil change, tire rotation & 12-point check up. I'll be bringing this malfunction to their attention. I'll also be bringing a credit card with me because I have a feeling after doing some investigation that I might be getting [XXX] in the pocket book. I see some places say it takes an hour and costs a couple hundred & others are charging $500 & keeping the car over night. I also see GM has known about this since 2016 with the Malibu and Volt. How sad a recall hasn't been ordered for this issue. I've read it could be a $9 wire harness that can be bought at GM Parts Direct. So GM doing nothing over a possible $9 part? That's a sin! The constant chiming wears the battery down not to mention being the only person in the car who knows nothing about mechanics is a scary position to be put in. I saw 3 class action law suits have been filed so isn't it time for the Federal Government to step in and do something about this? It's absolutely absurd to allow this to continue now going on 9 years. I can't buy a winning lottery ticket, but boy if there's a faulty product out there I'll buy that. What are the chances of me, after fighting to finally getting an SUV for decades, I finally get the only Chevy in 2019 to end up with a problem GM won't acknowledge. My vehicle was diagnosed with a faulty thermostat, specifically that the thermostat was sticking and needs replaced. My vehicle is at approximately 59,150 miles as of 12/27/2023. Prior to the diagnosis of the faulty thermostat, I intermittently received a warning message "Steering assist reduced - drive with caution", the thermostatic fan would run at full speed, and the P0128 check engine code was illuminated. These symptoms began approximately at the beginning of December 2023. The problem was confirmed by a certified GM dealership service department.
The vehicle will not shut off when placed into Park. A message is displayed saying Shift to Park and I have to try jiggling and slamming the shifter to hopefully get the car to turn off. I have found that this is a known issue by GM as documented in GM Service Bulletin 19-NA-206 Of course this problem started after the GM Warranty had expired and now I am being forced to pay hundreds of dollars to get it repaired when this is a basic design flaw My car is scheduled to go into the local dealer for repair on 11/16/23 as the problem has worsened over time and now I fear not being able to turn off and lock my car
I leased this car October 2019 and I had to tow the car to the dealership on December 12, 2019 for an electrical issue, as the car would not start. In June 2023 with 35,700 miles, I was driving the car when an error messages flashed on the dashboard. First message was to put the car in shift/neutral and immediately I was unable to move the shifter, the break got hard under my foot and the car "STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD". Then it kept flashing the following messages "SERVICE ESC" and "INFORMATION - ALL WHEEL DRIVE OFF" and the starter light remained "GREEN". I towed the car to the dealership, however, it took them a week to check the car and as a result the battery died and they missed the "Error Messages and CODES". Without the accurate codes, I was told I had to replace the battery and starter. When I picked up the car the air condition wasn't working, so I had to replace the compressor!!! I was very afraid to drive the car and I had it parked at home for some time. My husband and friends kept encouraging me to drive it etc. Eventually, I gave in and I started to drive the car, but still stressed and afraid and praying the car will not shut off again. The trauma of the car stopping so suddenly in the middle of the road and there was nothing I could have done - is very SCARY. I am just thankful that I was not on a highway when this happened - I could have been killed. However, I decided to drive the car and I now have 38,119 miles on the car. I had to take it to the dealership again on October 24, 2023, as when I park the car, although the shifter is in Park, the dashboard is telling me to put in in park and the Starter button will not turn off. I was advised by the dealership that I need to change the "Shifter Assembly" No one can tell me why the car stopped while driving in the middle of the road and I do not feel safe in this car anymore. I am just changing all the parts in this car one by one!!!
Here are the problems I've been facing: 1. Shift to Park Error: My Blazer often displays a "Shift to Park" message, even when the vehicle is already in the park position. This happens randomly and has no discernible pattern. As a result, the vehicle won't turn off, and I'm forced to repeatedly shift back and forth and apply excessive force to engage the park mode. 2. Steering Assist Reduced Message and Cold Temperature Gauge: Another recurring issue is the appearance of a "Steering Assist Reduced" message. At the same time, the temperature gauge gets stuck at the cold position, and the check engine light remains on. This seems to be a common problem among Blazer owners and requires immediate attention through a recall. 3. Fuel-Related Acceleration Problem: I've noticed a fuel-related problem that affects acceleration. The vehicle experiences sudden slowdowns, with the RPMs dropping, even when I maintain a steady throttle position. Then, out of nowhere, the Blazer regains speed and accelerates. This unpredictable behavior is dangerous and needs to be addressed immediately. 4. Random Loss of Power Steering and Power Brakes: On several occasions, my Blazer has lost power steering and power brakes without any warning. It's incredibly unnerving and puts both the driver and others on the road at risk. It's important to note that my Blazer is well-maintained and has less than 60,000 miles on it. These issues should not be happening under these circumstances. I strongly believe that these problems require the attention of the manufacturer, and I urge them to initiate recalls to rectify these safety concerns.
Vehicle not turning off. Switch to Park and vehicle prompts to switch to park. States vehicle is not in park. Gear selector switch is illuminated in P. Faulty transmission control switch.
Shift to park has came on the dash. Can not shut the car off. This will mean I will have to unplug the battery and not be able to lock the car. This is the first that it has occurred. Will have to schedule an appointment with the dealership on Monday.
When I shift to park it doesn't recognize its in park along with extreme stutter of the transmission when accelerating this could be dangerous as it could result in a accident.
When I put my car in park and shut it off, a message pops up “shift in park” !!
when I put it in parking it does not recognize and the car is unable to turn off
Shift car to park keeps showing up even though I am in park.
Shift To Park message displays while vehicle is already in Park! Incident began increasing in frequency in late 2022 . Vehicle would not Shut Off! Bulletin on problem came out in 2019, Chevy did not inform me of this Safety issue , Grandchildren in vehicle at least 2 times . Chevy charged me for the fix , Chevy was aware of problem before warranty expired !
I am experiencing the well know “shift to park” issue. When I move the shifter to the park position and turn off the vehicle, I receive a message stating “shift to park” and I’m unable to fully power the car off or lock the doors. This is only overcome by trying to wiggle the shifter. The issue is intermittent and the remedy is not always successful. It seems to be happening more frequently. The issue began around 40,000 miles. I have contacted the dealership to diagnose the issue but the repair has not been completed yet.
My 2019 blazer when stopped and put into the park position would say on the dash shift into park so you didn’t know if it was in park or not , also it would not turn off the motor would stop but none of the electric would turn off until the battery ran down . Not knowing if your car is in park or not is a big safety issue and GM is well aware of this problem on many of its vehicles .
Initially received Stabilitrak dash warning when brakes were applied for longer than 30 seconds (ie., stop light) for several days with no SEL. Then, while driving along a secondary highway at approximately 60mph, all dash lights lit up, power steering failed, power brake assist failed, and vehicle started stumbling. Pulled to side of road and vehicle shut off. Performed restart and was able to complete drive home (approx 3 miles). Upon arrival and shutting off vehicle, all dash lights illuminated then shut off. Vehicle would not start after (no click, no turnover, indicating failed battery). Attempted to charge/maintain battery but battery charger indicated sulfated battery. Multimeter showd 7.5V. Replaced battery and car started normally but all computer functions were reset to factory defaults. The failure of the power steering and brakes due to a faulty battery is an extreme safety issue. The fact that the battery is only 3 years old and internally corroded to the point it can't be charged is both disappointing and an additional safety hazard.
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Blazer. The contact stated that upon driving into a parking space and placing the vehicle into park(P), the vehicle independently accelerated into a building. The air bags deployed upon impact. The contact was treated at the scene by paramedics for minor scrapes and bruises. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent collision center for repair. The contact was informed that a couple of bricks on the building were damaged due to the collision. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 33,000.
Mileage: 33,000
The TBS sensor or switch that tells the vehicle when it has been put in park is malfunctioning. It is not allowing me to park the vehicle correctly and forcing me to start and stop the car multiple times before registering that it is in park. Also, while driving it causes the doors to lock or unlock due to sensing the vehicle is in park or not. To my knowledge this is a widespread issue with GM from 2013-2020. The vehicle has less than 70,000 miles and should not be creating a safety concern for my wife or baby. This needs to be looked into and fixed via a recall. The consumer should not have to pay for the cheap part GM used and should not be failing within 3 years of purchasing the vehicle.
Eco stop/ start died three times since I bought car. I am unable to turn off this option and the accident feature starts to break when I’m not near another car. Any Electrical issues cause the car not to start.
When placing the vehicle in park and turning off the vehicle there is a message on the dashboard saying ‘shift to park’ and the vehicle will not shut off, and you cannot lock the vehicle due to the error message.
“Shift to park” message comes up on the dashboard when the vehicle is already in park
1. The power steering (confirmed by dealership) is causing vehicle to pull very hard in one direction 2. Something fuel related does not allow my car to accelerate properly. Foot will be on the throttle and accelerating and without moving the throttle the vehicle will slow, RPMS will drop then suddenly begins to accelerate again. 3. Car states it’s not in park after I shift into park.
On mutiple occasions I have lost power steering and power brakes. The Brake and Traction Control lights will illuminate on the dash, but the physical buttons do not and are unresponsive.
