WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED VEHICLE SHOOK UNCONTROLLABLY. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND REPLACED THEM. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
VEHICLE WAS INSIDE OF THE PARKING LOT, CONSUMER SIFTED GEAR INTO REVERSE AND VEHICLE SURGED BACKWARDS. THEN, HE SHIFTED GEAR INTO DRIVE AND THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE. DRIVER DID NOT PUSH GAS PEDAL WHEN THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD. BRAKES WOULDN'T STOP VEHICLE. VEHICLE HIT A PARKED CAR AND THEN A TRAILER. DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. INSURANCE COMPANY HAS TOTALED THE VEHICLE AT THIS TIME.*AK
ANTI- LOCK BRAKES FAILED, CAR SKIDDED TEN FEET THEN ROLLED ABOUT TWENTY FEET INTO THE BACK OF ANOTHER CAR THAT HAD PANIC STOPPED. AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. BUMPER WENT UNDER OTHER CAR CRUSHING MY CAR TO THE WINDSHIELD. BOTH CARS WERE THE SAME SIZE SO BUMPERS SHOULD BE AT SAME HEIGHT. THE OTHER CAR IS A EARLY NINETIES LINCOLN TOWN CAR.*AK
THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES STARTED TO FAIL WITHIN THE PAST 2-3 WEEKS. I TOOK THE CAR TO LOU GRUBB CHEVROLET ON 7/21/99 FOR REPAIRS AND THEY REPLASED THE RR ANTI-LOCK SENSOR THEN TURNED THE REAR DRUMS AND FRONT ROTORS. THEY SAID THAT SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM TO THE TUNE OF $303.00. ON THE WAY HOME THE BRAKES FAILED AGAIN. MY WIFE DROVE IT YESTERDAY AND COULD NOT KEEP THE CAR FROM LURCHING FORWARD AT A STOP LIGHT SO SHE SLAMMED THE TRANSMISSION INTO PARK. THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES INDICATOR OF DIS-ENGAGEMENT CAME ON THE DASH AND SHE DROVE THE CAR HOME. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY NOW HAVE THE CAR IN THE SHOP. THEY TELL ME THAT "THE BOOK" TELLS THEM THAT I MAY HAVE TO REPLACE THE COMPUTER FOR A COST OF $800-900. THE WILL PHONE ME AT WORK TOMORROW TO TELL ME WHAT THEY FOUND. INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING ABS BRAKING SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED, CAUSING THE BRAKES TO LOCK UP AND THE STEERING WHEEL TO LOCK UP, WHICH ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. BEEN TO DLR. DLR CANNOT DETERMINE PROBLEM. CAUSE UNKNOWN. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION AND VIN#. *AK

OFFICER STATES WHEN RESPONDING TO AN EMERGENCY CALL, TRAVELING ABOUT 70 MPH AND UPON APPLYING FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD,RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE/BRAKE FADE AWAY.
