TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET CAVALIER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD WAS DISINTEGRATING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.UPDATED 10/13/16 *BF

ON OCTOBER 1ST 2015 WE WERE STOPPED FOR ROAD CONSTRUCTION ON THE HIGHWAY. AT THAT TIME WE WERE REAR ENDED BY A HIT AND RUN DRIVER. IMPACT WAS ON THE BUMPER, PASSENGER SIDE. ON IMPACT THE PASSENGER SEAT BROKE AND SLAMMED ME FORWARD THEN BACK INTO A RECLINING POSITION. I WAS TAKEN TO HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE.I WAS IN PT FOR 6 WEEKS. ALSO AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY.
I HAVE TWO PROBLEMS THAT MAY BE SAFETY RELATED. ONE MORE SO THAN THE OTHER. THE INSTRUMENTS, NONE OF THEM WORK, BUT MOST IMPORTANT IS THE SPEEDOMETER. IT STARTED HANGING UP, THEN FINALLY HUNG ALL THE WAY AT 120 MPH. I HAVE TO USE A GPS TO MAKE SURE OF MY SPEED. GM IS REPLACING OTHER VEHICLES CLUSTERS FOR THE SAME ISSUE, BUT I HAVE AN IDEA THEY'RE SKIPPING THE CAVALIER FOR THE OTHER REASON OF MY COMPLAINT. THE DASHBOARD IS LITERALLY FALLING APART. I DON'T KNOW WHEN IT MAY TRY TO FALL ON MY LAP, ITS CRACKED UP SO BAD AND RATTLES TERRIBLY. IT SEEMS LIKE IT COULD BUST ALL TO PIECES IN A COLLISION. I CAN'T EVEN TOUCH THE CLUSTER BEZEL WITHOUT IT CRACKING. IT SCARES ME. COULD YOU AT LEAST INVESTIGATE THIS AND LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU FIND? THANK YOU! *TR
THE WEATHER WAS IN THE 10S AND SINGLE DIGITS. I WAS TRAVELING IN PAIR, WE DID NOT EXCEED 35 MILES AN HOUR AS VISIBILITY WAS VERY POOR DUE TO SNOW AND WINDS. I NOTICED MY SPEEDOMETER WAS ACCELERATING, BELIEVED MY TIRES WERE SPINNING ON ICE. I COME TO A STOP AND REALIZED MY SPEEDOMETER WAS STILL GOING 60 MILES AN HOUR. DROVE THE REST OF THE WAY HOME FOLLOWING MY FRIEND WHO WAS PREVIOUSLY FOLLOWING ME. THE MPH NEEDLE MADE ITS WAY TO POINT STRAIGHT DOWN. I WOULDN'T HAVE EXPRESSED CONCERN IF OTHER CHEVY CAVALIER OWNERS HAD TOLD ME TO, BECAUSE IT HAS HAPPENED TO THEM TOO. I AM A NEW OWNER OF THIS CAR, BOUGHT IT FROM A DEALERSHIP SO I DON'T KNOW THAT HOW WELL TAKEN CARE OF THIS CAR WAS. I PRIDE MYSELF IN TAKING EXTRA CAR OF MY VEHICLES. I DO NOT THINK THE SPEEDOMETER SHOULD HAVE FAILED UNLESS IT WAS BECAUSE OF OPERATOR MISUSE, AND I HAVE NOT MISUSED MY VEHICLE. *TR

I CURRENTLY HAVE A 2005 CHEVY CAVALIER THAT I PURCHASED IN 2005. WITHIN 6 MONTHS OF HAVING THE CAR MY BACK DOORS DO NOT OPERATE, DO NOT OPEN. MY FRONT DOORS RECENTLY HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES IN NOT WANTING TO SHUT. THERE IS SOMETHING WITH THE LINKAGES. I HAVE ALSO HAD ISSUES WITH THE TRUNK, IT BLEW OFF THE WIRES AND SOUNDED LIKE A BOMB. AND MY DOME LIGHT GOT TO WHERE IT WOULD NOT SHUT OFF SO WE REMOVED THE BULB. MY RADIO DOES NOT SHUT OFF WHEN DOOR OPENS, IT PLAYS FOR 10 MINUTES AFTERWARDS. MY CAR DID NOT HAVE SHOCKS WHEN PURCHASED IT, IT IS BECOMING ONE BIG HEADACHE. I DRIVE ONLY CHEVROLET VEHICLES BUT THIS CAR IS MAKING ME WANT TO DRIVE SOMETHING OTHER THEN A CHEVY. IS THERE ANY RECALLS ON 2005 CAVALIERS? OR WHAT CAN I DO. I CAN NOT AFFORD A NEW CAR WITH WORKING PART TIME AND THIS IS NOT VERY SAFE. *TR
2005 CHEVROLET CAVALIER INSTRUMENT PANEL HAS SERIOUS PROBLEMS TEMPERATURE GAUGE SHOWS THE CAR IS OVER HEATING AND INTERFERES WITH THE SPEEDOMETER ALSO THE SPEEDOMETER WILL SHOW 110MPH WHILE SITTING IN PARK OR WHILE DOING 65MPH DROP AND SHOW NO SPEED. ALSO THE FRONT OF THE DASH CRACKS OUT AND CAN PRODUCE SHARP PIECES THAT CAN CUT THROUGH THE SKIN EASILY. ALSO THE STEERING HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE 2005 COBALTS AT LOW SPEEDS SOMETIMES THE CAR IS VERY HARD TO TURN. *TR

THE SPEEDOMETER HAS GONE HAYWIRE. IT GETS STUCK AT THE FAR RIGHT END SHOWING OVER 110 MPH WHEN I'M DRIVING ONLY 20 MPH. WHEN COMPLETELY STOPPED, IT WILL SHOW 60 TO 70 MPH AS THE SPEED. ONCE IN A GREAT WHILE, IT WILL WORK FOR A FEW MINUTES OR SO. I DO NOT KNOW HOW FAST I AM ACTUALLY GOING AND THIS IS A VERY REAL SAFETY HAZARD. I'VE BEEN TOLD I MIGHT HAVE TO REPLACE MY DASH AND THIS COULD BE VERY COSTLY- I HAVE ONLY 26,000 MILES ON MY 2005 CAVALIER, HAVE OWNED FOR LESS THAN 4 YEARS, AND HAVE 2 YEARS YET TO PAY ON MY LOAN. *TR

2005 CHEVY CAVALIER IS LEAKING AND WAS REPAIRED THREE TIMES SINCE MY FIRST REPORT FILED IN NOV. OF 2005. THE CARPETING WAS REPLACED DURING THE SECOND REPAIR BECAUSE OF MILDEW SMELL. THE CAR IS NOW LEAKING AGAIN FOR THE FORTH TIME AND THE CARPETING IS SATURATED UNDER THE FRONT SEATS. IT'S BEEN LEAKING SINCE I FIRST BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW. I WANTED TO RETURN THE CAR THE FIRST TIME BUT THE DEALERSHIP WOULDN'T TAKE IT BACK, SAYING THEY COULD REPAIR IT. THERE WAS A SERVICE BULLETIN OUT ON THIS MODEL BECAUSE OF LEAKING PROBLEMS. THREE TRIES AND IT'S STILL NOT FIXED. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET CAVALIER. THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE IS RUSTING. THE DEALER SAND BLAST AND REPAINTED THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER ALSO REPLACED THE HINGES ON ALL OF THE DOORS AND THE VEHICLE HAS CONTINUED TO RUST. THE CONTACT FEELS THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 19000.
THE FIRST CAR I BOUGHT HAD A STRONG MILDEW SMELL AND WAS EXCHANGED FOR ANOTHER CAR. SECOND CAR SEEMED FINE FOR THE FIRST SEVERAL MONTHS. THEN THERE WAS A PUDDLE OF WATER UNDER THE DRIVER'S SEAT AND THE CAR HAD A MILDEW SMELL. THE LEAKS WERE SEALED AND THE CAR WAS DE-IONIZED BUT THE SMELL RETURNED AFTER A FEW DAYS. THE CARPETING WAS THEN REPLACED BUT THE SMELL REMAINS. *NM
2005 CHEVROLET CAVALIER DEVELOPED PROBLEMS WITH THE DRIVER'S SEAT MOVING.*MR THE DRIVER'S SEAT WAS UNSTABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER BUT THEY CLAIMED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE SEAT. THE CONSUMER SAID HE ALSO GETS SHOCKED BY THE VEHICLE CONSTANTLY. *NM

CHEVROLET VEHICLE HAS PROBLEMS WITH THE DRIVER DOOR OPENING WHILE DRIVING.*MR THE DRIVER'S DOOR OPEN TWICE WHEN THE VEHICLE RAN OVER BUMPS OR POT HOLES. THE CONSUMER ALSO HAD PROBLEMS OPENING THE DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THAT THE FENDER (DRIVER'S SIDE) HAD BEEN REPLACED AND WAS MISALIGNED AND PUSHED BACK CAUSING THE DOOR PROBLEM. THE TECHNICIAN WENT ON TO SAY THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. THE CONSUMER IS UPSET BECAUSE THE DEALER SOLD HIM A VEHICLE THAT WAS NOT NEW AND HAD BEEN DAMAGED IN AN ACCIDENT. MATERIAL WAS COMING OUT OF THE DASHBOARD UNDER THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONSUMER REQUEST REIMBURSEMENT OR A NEW VEHICLE. *BF *NM
ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS THE DRIVER DOOR WOULD OPEN WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING 45-50 MPH. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER MADE SOME ADJUSTMENTS TO THE DOOR. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN HIT BEFORE AND THE PROBLEM MAY CONTINUE DUE TO THE DAMAGES THE VEHICLE HAD SUSTAINED. *JB THE DRIVER DOOR DID NOT CLOSE AFTER ADJUSTMENTS AS WELL AS THE PASSENGER DOOR. THE DRIVER DOOR WOULD OPEN WHILE I THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, MATERIAL WAS COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE DASHBOARD, INTERIOR PASSENGER DOOR WAS DAMAGED WHEN PURCHASED, AND THE BACK SEAT WAS DISCOLORED. *SC *JB
