I HAVE A 1998 CHEV, FULL SIZE, EXTENDED CAB PICKUP TRUCK. THE ANTILOCK BRAKES CARRODED EXACTLY LIKE WHAT WAS DISCRIBED IN YOUR INVESTIGATION BY THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION. IT WAS A VERY SCAREY FEELING WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND IT FAILED TO PROPERY STOP THE VEHICLE. IN ORDER TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, THE GARAGE TOOK THEM APART AND CLEANED ALL THE CORRISION OFF PLUS BROKE ONE SENSOR BECAUSE IT WAS CORRIDED SO BADLY. IT COST ME A TOTAL OF $200.00 TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. THE 1998 PICKUPS SHOULD BE A PART OF THIS RECALL ALSO. I DID BUY THIS TRUCK BRAND NEW IN NOV. OF 1997. CONSUMER WAS GETTING NEW TIRES INSTALLED WHEN HE WAS TOLD THAT THEY FOUND THAT THE LEFT REAR BRAKE WAS IN AN EXTREMELY BAD CONDITION AND THE OUTSIDE ROTOR WAS FULL OF GROOVES AND THE 2ND BRAKE PAD WAS WORN TO THE EXTENT THAT IT WAS FALLING TO PIECES WITH A VERY IRREGULAR PAD PATTERN. THE BRAKE AND THE ROTOR WERE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT AND DID NOT APPEAR THAT THE WHEELS HAD EVER BEEN OFF THE AXLE. CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT IF IT HAD NOT BEEN DISCOVERED, THAT THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
