Started smelling gas when driving vehicle. Found fuel leak on top of fuel tank. Took vehicle to Mesa Auto Works (480-969-1954) on [XXX] and they diagnosed a Fuel Pump Module broken and leaking fuel. Replaced unit at a cost of $730.22 with the fuel pump module costing $382.80. This defect could have resulted in a car fire and or worse. Definitely a safety issue. The fuel pump failed and had began leaking profusely. The car was brought to the Chevy dealership where I was told it would be fixed under special coverage 12191. Chevy had tried an aftermarket part to fix but it would not seal properly and continued to leak. I got in contact with General Motors who said a new part had been ordered, a week later they told me there was no new part as they discontinued it. They are now saying that it isn’t their responsibility to fix the car due to its mileage even though special coverage 12191 specifically states no expiration due to mileage. They are offering me a credit towards a down payment which I do not want as I am not interested in having a new car payment, i want my car repaired or to be compensated once they total it out. This is my daily driver car and I have been without it for four months while GM shoves me around and refuses to deliver on their failed product. Please help.

Fuel leak from rusted fuel lines. I am willing to allow the vehicle to be inspected as it hasn't been repaired. The fuel leak appeared to be in front of the drivers side rear wheel and it is near the exhaust which is very dangerous.

Around Dec. 22, 2021, I started smelling gas outside and inside of my car (particularly the right back seat near the gas tank). I took it to a local mechanic and he urged me to take it to the dealership for service and to not drive the car a lot because it could be dangerous. He said it was the gas tank pump and that there was a recall that I should look into. I took my car to a local dealership for service and upon inspection, they removed and replaced the fuel pump and plastic lines - they confirmed there was an issue with the gas pumps.

Strong smell of gas when driving, also strong smell of gas around car in general. Underneath the car you can see gas pouring from fuel tank, looks like it’s coming from top of gas tank. Whenever I park in a parking space, in my driveway or park for any period of time I always leave a puddle of gas. I just started my car and looked underneath at gas tank, there is a steady stream of fuel coming from somewhere on gas tank.

Back near the rear wheel the gas's lines are so rusted out it's because of the manufacturer put a heat shield on it and it trapped morsure and water in it and rusted the lines so bad there's barley anything left this is a known issue in Chevy Cobalt ls coupes I own a 2007 Chevy cobalt LS coupe I don't understand why there isn't a recall on all 2000-2012 Chevy cobalt models or a reimbursement for the people who bought that had to replace the gas lines because of that

The car is leaking fuel from the fuel line by the back driverside tire. This is a fire hazard as the leak is near the hot exhaust.

The fuel line was rusted causing a leak. The rusted area is by the driver side rear wheel well. The fuel line is covered by a material to shield it from the exhaust heat. The material holds moisture causing the fuel line in that area to rust and leak.

In mid 2017 I went for a drive in my 2007 Chevy Cobalt. (just over 100,000 miles). When I was approximately 4 blocks from my home the engine began sputtering and died. I was able to pull in a parking lot, put it in park and jumped out of my car. An overwhelming smell of gas was immediately noticed, as well as a huge puddle of fuel on the ground. I began to walk the 4 blocks home and saw a huge continuous trail of gasoline upon the road leading from my car ALL the way to my home! In this 4 block distance my Cobalt leaked out over 3/8ths of a tank of fuel- nearly 5-6 gallons. The fuel vapor in the air was most assuredly at a very dangerous explosive level this entire distance home. I am a self taught mechanic with many engine re-builds and repairs under my belt. Upon inspection I found that the steel fuel line had a major rupture above the driver rear wheel within the foil wrapped "joke" of a heat shield- (just above the exhaust pipe). Upon further inspection this steel fuel line was badly rusted & corroded all the way to under the driver seat. Overall the Cobalt fuel line system is a very poor design, poor quality materials, with bad design & placement. I ordered a complete new fuel & return line set and replaced all the rusty junk fuel lines. My experience with the instantaneous fuel line failure could have had a very bad ending. No warning lights or previous leaks were detected. Then there is the front suspension and front wheel bearing issues. I have installed 2 complete front suspension kits, ball joints, struts, as well as 2 wheel bearing failures- all these replaced with less than 80,000 miles on the odometer. Then there is the bad window switches, bad moon roof seal, bad wiper arm assemblies, front stereo speaker failure at 39,000 miles, on & on. A very poor quality vehicle After purchasing this Cobalt I would be very hesitant to purchase another GM product.

WHILE AT A STOP I SMELL FUEL REALLY STRONG AND ONLY WHEN THERE IS PRESSURE IT LEAKS ON TOP OF GAS TANK WHERE THE RETURN LINE CRACKED RUNNING DOWN THE BACK OF THE TANK AND ONTO THE EXHAUST I SEE THERE IS A RECALL FOR MANY OTHER COBALT'S BUT NOT MY VIN WITH THIS SAME ISSUE! I THINK GM SHOULD REEVALUATE THE YEARS THIS IS AFFECTING. MY CAR HAS UNDER THE MILEAGE IT SHOULD HAVE AND I HAVE KEPT MY VEHICLE UP TO DATE WITH ALL SERVICES! I WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND AFTER PARKING IT AND GETTING OUT SMELLED A STRONG ODOR OF GAS. I DIDN'T KNOW WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM SO DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT AND DROVE THE CAR A COUPLE MORE TIMES AND EACH TIME AFTER UPON LEAVING THE CAR SMELLED AGAIN A STRONG ODOR OF GAS. I DECIDED TO VISUALLY INSPECT THE UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR AND SAW GAS LEAKING FROM IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER SIDE REAR TIRE. I QUIT DRIVING THE CAR AND LOOKED ONLINE TO SEE IF OTHER PEOPLE WERE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE AND THERE WERE. I CALLED A COUPLE CHEVY DEALERSHIPS AND ASKED IF THEIR WAS A RECALL AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IT IN AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO INSPECT IT TO DETERMINE IF IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY AND IF SO THEY WOULD FIX IT FOR FREE. KNOWING THE CAR WAS UNSAFE AND VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE I RENTED A CAR DOLLY AND BROUGHT IT TO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP APPROXIMATELY 35 MILES AWAY. AFTER INSPECTION WE WERE TOLD IT WAS NOT THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY BUT THE GAS LINES. WE HAD TO PAY $634 TO HAVE THE CAR REPAIRED. REPAIR WAS DONE IN FEBRUARY 2020.THE CAR HAD ROUGHLY 88,000 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME PROBLEM NOTICED.

MY 2007 SUPERCHARGED COBALT HAS BEEN LEAKING GAS LIKE A PIG. IT IS COMING FROM THE EXPOSED PLASTIC RETAINER CLIP THAT HAS RUSTED THROUGH MY GAS LINE AND SLOWLY RUSTING THROUGH MY BRAKE LINE NOW AS WELL. THIS IS A HUGE DESIGN FLAW AS THERE IS DEFINATELY ROAD SALT THAT GOT BETWEEN THE PLASTIC CLIP AND GAS LINE EATING AWAY AT THE METALS AND RUSTING. THE GAS LINE IS RIGHT ABOVE MY HOT EXHAUST AND THE LINE AND REPAIR IS STUPID EXPENSIVE AND CONSIDERING ALL THE OTHER 3 FUEL RECALLS ON THIS CAR I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED AS MY CAR BARELY HAS 100,XXX MILES AND COULD POTENTIALLY CATCH FIRE UNTIL I HAVE THE $900 I WAS QUOTED TO FIX THIS.

ONE YEAR AGO I WAS EXPERIENCING A FUEL LEAK NEAR MY REAR LEFT WHEEL, CLOSE TO WHERE THE LINE CONTACTED THE MOUNTING BLOCK. I CALLED CHEVY AND THEY SAID IT WAS NOT THEIR PROBLEM, AND I NEEDED TO HAVE THE LINES REPLACED BEFORE MY CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE, OBVIOUSLY. SO I TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL MECHANIC (BECAUSE I AM A STUDENT AND COULDN'T AFFORD THEIR $1300 ESTIMATE) AND THEY REPAIRED IT. I UNDERSTAND THAT MODEL 2008 AND 2009 COBALTS ARE UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR THIS EXACT LEAK. MY CAR IS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT AND IT HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM DETAILED IN THE COMPLAINT FOR THE 2008/2009 MODELS. I WOULD LIKE TO IMPRESS THE NHTSA TO EXPAND THE INVESTIGATION TO THE EARLIER MODELS, INCLUDING THE 2007 COBALT

PULLED INTO DRIVEWAY WHEN GOT HOME FROM WORK. NOTICED GAS LEAKING ONTO THE DRIVEWAY FROM UNDER THE CAR. LOOKED UNDER THE CAR AND FOUND THAT THE GAS WAS LEAKING FROM THE GAS LINE RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR WHEEL. THE GAS LINE IS HELD BY A CLIP THERE AND THE DESIGN AND PLACEMENT CAUSES THINGS SUCH AS ROAD SALT TO COLLECT THERE AND CORRODE THE GAS LINE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS DESIGN DEFECT. THE GAS LINE THERE IS CLOSE TO THE MUFFLER AND GAS LEAKING FROM THAT SPOT WHILE THE CAR IS BEING DRIVEN COULD EASILY CAUSE A FIRE. I WAS LUCKY THAT NO FIRE RESULTED WHEN MY GAS LINE STARTED LEAKING WHILE I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK. OTHERS MAY NOT BE SO LUCKY. GM NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS VERY SERIOUS DESIGN DEFECT BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED OR KILLED. THEY NEED TO FIX ALL THE COBALTS OUT THERE WITH THIS DEFECT AND REIMBURSE OWNERS, SUCH AS MYSELF, WHO HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO FIX IT. I HAD TO PAY ALMOST $700 TO REPLACE MY GAS LINE.

THIS CAR HAS A RECALL ALREADY IN REGARDS TO FUEL LEAKAGE BUT ONLY FOR VEHICLES IN CERTAIN STATES. MY CAR LEAKS FUEL AND THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME I HAVE HAD TO CORRECT AN ISSUE WITH THE FUEL, AS WITHIN THE PAST TWO YEARS I HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL LINE FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THIS RECALL SHOULD BE FOR ALL COBALTS AS I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AS THOSE IN ARC, AZ, ETC. I HAVE LIVED AND HAD MY VEHICLE REGISTERED IN TX AS WELL. THIS ISSUE MAKES IT WHERE THE CAR LEAKS GAS ONTO THE PAVEMENT WHEN STATIONARY OR COME TO A STOP. THE CAR RUNS HARD DUE TO LEAKING FUEL AND AFRAID IT WILL RUN OUT OF GAS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT ONLY THE FUEL TANK WOULD BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL AT THE DEALER TO HAVE THE OTHER COMPONENTS REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS WAITING FOR A RESPONSE FROM THE DEALER TO COMPLETE THE SERVICE CAMPAIGN AND REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE SEVERAL TIMES. WHEN THE 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT IS BEING DRIVEN OR SITTING STILL, THERE IS A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE CAR. FUEL VAPORS, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE A VEHICLE FIRE." AT THAT TIME I WAS NOT EXPERIENCING THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, ON OCTOBER 21, 2015 I STARTED NOTICE A POWERFUL FUEL ODOR FROM UNDERNEATH THE CAR WHEN PARK AFTER RUNNING. I REMEMBER THE LETTER, #12191, THAT STATED MY CAR WAS COVERED, SO I CALLED THE LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER, JIM TRENARY IN TROY, MO, AND STATED THE PROBLEM AND LETTER. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN STATED THEY WOULD RAISE THE CAR UP AND CHECK FOR FUEL LIQUID LEAKING FROM THE CAR. I TOLD THEM THAT AT THIS TIME ONLY FUEL VAPORS WERE LEAKING, AND HE SAID IF THAT THE CASE THEN IT WOULD NOT BE FIXED. THIS IS IN VIOLATION OF THE STATEMENT S IN LETTER #12191. I ALSO CALLED THE GM RECALL CENTER AND WAS TOLD TO JUST TAKE IT TO DEALER TO TELL ME THEY WOULDN'T FIX IT. THIS RESULTED IN ME DROPPING THE FUEL TANK, ONLY TO DISCOVER THAT INDEED THE SUPPLY LINE ON THE FUEL PUMP WAS CRACKED. I ORDER AN AC DELCO MU 1970 DIRECT OEM REPLACEMENT PUMP, AND INSTALLED THE UNIT. I CONTACTED GM AND THEY ARE REFUSING TO COVER THE COST OF THE FUEL PUMP. BASICALLY GM IS REFUSING TO FIX A SPECIAL COVERAGE OF MY CAR THAT COULD POTENTIALLY LEAD TO A FIRE THAT THEY SAID THEY WOULD FIX BUT ARE REFUSING TO FIX. I JUST WANTED TO MAKE THE NHTSA AWARE OF WHAT GM IS NOT DOING, WHICH IS FIXING CARS THAT COULD POTENTIAL CATCH FIRE IN PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE. THEIR OWN WORDS NOT MINE.

A PLASTIC COMPONENT IN THE FUEL RETURN CRACKED CAUSING A GAS LEAK THAT WAS UNRECOGNIZABLE AT FIRST. FIRST NOTICED THE SCENT A WEEK AFTER ADOPTING A CAT AND ASSUMED IT MUST HAVE PEED IN THE CAR OR SOMETHING. AT FIRST, ONLY NOTICED IT AFTER DRIVING MORE THAN A FEW MINUTES AND PARKING THE CAR. WHEN THE CAR WAS LEFT IN PARK OVERNIGHT, IT WOULD NOT SMELL IN THE MORNING, HOWEVER ONCE IT WAS DRIVEN ANY DISTANCE, THE SMELL WOULD BECOME APPARENT BY THE TIME THE TRIP WAS DONE. THE SMELL WAS FAINT AND SEEMED TO COME FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR, BUT WAS NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO BE NARROWED DOWN MORE THAN THAT. EVENTUALLY THE SCENT WAS STRONG ENOUGH THAT IT COULD BE RECOGNIZED AS GASOLINE AND BY THAT TIME IT WAS CLEAR THAT IT WAS COMING FROM BEHIND THE PASSENGER SEAT. UPON LIFTING THE BACK END TO LOOK AT THE CAR, THE UNDERSIDE WAS WET WITH GASOLINE AND THE SOURCE OF THE LEAK COULD BE ISOLATED TO THE TOP OF THE TANK. TOOK IT IN TO BE CHECKED AND FIXED TO FIND OUT IT WAS A CRACK IN A PLASTIC COMPONENT OF THE FUEL RETURN AND THE WAY THE COMPONENT IS DESIGNED, THE ENTIRE FUEL PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED. RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM GM ABOUT POTENTIAL FUEL LEAKS AND SUBMITTED MY INFORMATION ONLY TO LEARN THAT THE CURRENT BULLETIN PERTAINS TO THE FUEL TANK ITSELF AND ALL OTHER SERVICE BULLETINS RELATED TO THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE ARE FOR DIFFERENT CAR BATCHES SOLD MOSTLY TO WARMER CLIMATE STATES SO GM WILL NOT REIMBURSE FOR THE REPAIR.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ALSO SENT THE CONTACT ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE DEALER REFUSED TO DO THE REPAIR DUE TO THE VEHICLE'S MILEAGE BEING MORE THAN 150,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 170,000.

THE FUEL LINES WERE LEAKING. APPARENTLY THERE ARE TWO FUEL LINES WRAPPED IN AN ENCASEMENT WITH A VENT TUBE. THE CAR ONLY HAD ABOUT 78,000 MILES ON IT WHEN THIS HAZARD WAS DISCOVERED. IT IS ONLY A 2007, BUT THE FUEL LINES ARE NOT MADE WELL AT ALL. BECAUSE THEY ARE IN THAT ENCASEMENT WITH THE VENT THEY RUST QUICKLY. IT CAUSED A VERY STRONG ODOR, AND GAS WAS VISIBLY LEAKING OUT OF THE BACK END OF THE CAR. THE DRIVER HAD HEADACHES EVERY TIME AFTER DRIVING THE CAR. THE CAR WAS BARELY STARTING AS WELL. AFTER PUTTING THE KEY IN AND TURNING IT, IT WOULD TAKE AWHILE BEFORE THE CAR ACTUALLY STARTED. THE DRIVER TOOK IT INTO THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED THINKING IT WAS THE CRACKED FUEL TANK INLET CONTROL VALVE SPECIAL SERVICE PROBLEM THAT HAD JUST BEEN ISSUED IN AUGUST 2015. THAT WOULD HAVE MEANT IT WOULD BE FIXED WITH NO CHARGE TO THE DRIVER. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS NEITHER RELATED TO THAT ISSUE NOR TO ANOTHER SPECIAL SERVICE ISSUE DEALING WITH LEAKING GAS THAT THE DRIVER HAD ALREADY GOTTEN FIXED IN APRIL 2014. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS INSTEAD RELATED TO THE FUEL LINES RUSTING. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS VERY DANGEROUS TO BE DRIVING AND THAT IT WOULD COST AT LEAST $659.38 TO GET IT FIXED. THE DRIVER EVENTUALLY GOT IT FIXED SOMEWHERE ELSE FOR $250 LESS. IN THE MEANTIME THE DRIVER CONTINUED TO GET HEADACHES AND FEEL VERY UNSAFE DRIVING THE CAR. THE DRIVER KNOWS OF OTHER CHEVY COBALTS WITH THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE. IT SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO FURTHER BEFORE A SERIOUS INCIDENT OCCURS. CHEVROLET SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS IMMEDIATELY AND PAY FOR IT TO BE FIXED ON THESE NEW 2007 CARS!

IN JUNE 2015, WE SMELLED FUEL UNDER CAR. THE NEXT DAY WE TOOK THE CAR IMMEDIATELY TO OUR MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AT A COST OF $531.85. IN AUGUST OF 2015, WE RECEIVED A LETTER FROM CHEVROLET THAT INDICATED OUR COBALT MAY HAVE A CRACKED FUEL TANK INLET CONTROL VALVE. THE LETTER SAID THAT THE VEHICLE MAY EMIT A STRONG FUEL ODOR FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE WHICH IS WHAT WE DETECTED. THE LETTER INDICATED WE COULD BE REIMBURSED IF WE SUBMITTED THE REQUESTED DOCUMENTS IF WE ALREADY HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. I SUBMITTED ALL DOCUMENTS TO OUR LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER BUT WAS DENIED REIMBURSEMENT.

INVESTIGATION FOUND GAS LEAKING ON GROUND UNDER FUEL TANK. TOOK TO MECHANIC WHO DISCOVERED BOTH PLASTIC SUPPLY AND RETURN PORTS ON FUEL PUMP CRACKED. HAD TO REPLACE FUEL PUMP. ($467). RESEARCH FOUND 2 RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM 10/29/2009 AND 9/19/2012 NEITHER OF WHICH COVERED VEHICLES IN NORTH CAROLINA. THE 2012 RECALL DID EXPAND INTO NC AND SURROUNDING STATES BUT FOR 2006 MODEL VEHICLES NOT 2007. NHTSA # 12V459000 (09) AND # 09V419000 (12) IT IS MY CONTENTION GM SHOULD HAVE INCLUDED ALL STATES IN THESE RECALLS OR HAVE A REIMBURSEMENT PLAN IN EFFECT IF THIS PROBLEM OCCURS IN AREAS NOT COVERED. TWO SEPARATE RECALLS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM CLEARLY INDICATES GM WAS AWARE OF THE CRACKING PORTS ON THE FUEL PUMP. (I WOULD APPRECIATE A REIMBURSEMENT) IN A SEPARATE, YET VERY CLOSELY RELATED ISSUE, I NOW HAVE A LETTER DATED AUGUST 2015 ABOUT A CRACKED FUEL TANK CONTROL VALVE. VEHICLES THAT HAVE HAD TANK REMOVAL PROCEDURES (REPLACE FUEL PUMP JULY) ARE "ESPECIALLY AT RISK" FOR THIS CONDITION. SE LIGHT IS BACK ON, SLIGHT HINT OF GAS FUMES, AND ERRATIC ENGINE PERFORMANCE ESPECIALLY AFTER REFUELING. I NOW HAVE TO FOLLOW UP ON THIS GAS TANK ISSUE.

OHIO 45103 TEL 513-752 1238 I PAID AKERS ON JULY 23 FOR THE REPAIRS, WHEN I WENT TO WYLERS THEY SAID THEY HAD TO SEND IN THE CLAIM FORM BUT THEY FIRST HAD TO PROVE I HAD A GM PUMP PUT IN, IT WAS THE END OF SEPT BEFORE THE ASSISTANT SERVICE MANAGER RETURNED MY CALL, [XXX] SAID HE COULD NOT REACH ANYONE AT AKERS, FEW DAYS LATER BOB TOLD ME THE CLAM FORM HAD BEEN SENT IN AND I SHOULD SEE IT BACK IN 4 5 OR 6 WEEKS, SHOULD HAVE BEEN MIDDLE. MY CHEVROLET COBALT 2007 WAS CALLED FOR A RECALL, EVEN THOUGH MY CAR WAS RUNNING PERFECTLY I DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO THE CLOSEST CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP TO ME. AT THE DEALERSHIP THEY CHANGED THE POWER STEERING WHEEL, THE IGNITION AND ALL THAT HAD TO DO WITH IT, AND TO MY SURPRISE THEY ALSO CHANGED THE FUEL PUMP. WHEN I RECEIVED MY CAR FROM THE DEALER I NOTICED A FUEL ODOR COMING FROM MY CAR, I DID NOT PAY ATTENTION TO IT BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WAS NORMAL SINCE THEY CHANGED THE FUEL PUMP. AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS I TOOK MY CAR BACK SINCE I NOTICED A BIG GAS LEAK ON THE DRIVEWAY WHEN I MOVED MY CAR. THE DEALERSHIP CHECKED THE CAR AND SAID IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE RECALL AND THAT THE FILLER NECK WAS CRACKED, AND THAT I MIGHT HAVE POSSIBLY HIT MY CAR AND CRACKED THE FILLER NECK. I WAS VERY FRUSTRATED AND I TALKED TO MANAGERS AND EVERYTHING, BUT THE ONLY RESPONSE I GOT WAS THAT THEY WILL NOT COVER IT AND THAT I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. AFTER CALLING GENERAL MOTORS AND CHEVROLET, THEY TOLD ME THAT I HAD TO PAY $500 DOLLARS FOR THE REPAIR AND THAT THEY WILL COVER THE REST. I WAS VERY UPSET AND FRUSTRATED, BUT I AM A COLLEGE STUDENT AND I WORK, SO I NEEDED MY CAR. I PAID THE $500 DOLLARS OUT OF CREDIT CARDS BECAUSE I DID NOT HAVE THE MONEY FOR A MISTAKE THAT THEY MADE AND PEOPLE AT THE DEALERSHIP EVEN TOLD ME THEY DID BECAUSE THEY SAID THAT THE FILLER NECK IS PLASTIC AND THAT WITH THE WEATHER CHANGES IN HOUSTON WHEN "HANDLED" CAN CRACK EASILY. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER, IT IS A CRACK IN THE GAS TANK, AND THE PROBLEM IS NOT THE FUEL PUMP MODULE. THE GAS TANK CRACK COULD VERY WELL BE RELATED TO THE RECALLED FAULTY FUEL PUMP. THE DEALER MIGHT BE USING THE GAS TANK TO EXPLAIN AWAY THE FUEL PUMP ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER SENT ME A RECALL NOTICE AND FAILED TO REIMBURSE ME FOR THE COST, ALSO I HAD A FUEL LEAK WHICH WAS UNDER RECALL AND YET TO NO AVAIL THE CAR SMELLED OF FUEL AND HAD SPARKS FROM THE WIRING. THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND YET THE MANUFACTURER AND THE DEALER, DID NOT PURCHASE THE CAR BACK FROM ME, THEY MADE ME PURCHASE A NEW VEHICLE AND AS WELL DID NOT TELL ME ABOUT THE RECALL UNTIL AFTER THE FACT. I AM UPSET TO LEARN THAT ONLY NOW THE NHTSA AND OTHER GOVERNMENT AGENCIES ARE WILLING TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. MY CAR WAS RUNNING AND GETTING WARMED UP, THEN SUDDENLY THE LOCKS START GOING OFF AND ON, REPEATEDLY. IT HAS CONTINUED TO DO THIS AND THE CAR WILL NOT STAY LOCKED. IT DOES THIS WHETHER IT IS OFF OR ON NOW. IT IS CONSTANT. THE POWER LOCKS NO LONGER WORK AND YOU CAN'T USE THE DOOR HANDLE TO UNLOCK THE CAR FROM THE INSIDE, YOU MUST MANUALLY PULL THE LOCK "UP" AND TO LOCK THE CAR YOU MUST MANUALLY PUSH ALL THE DOOR LOCK KNOBS DOWN, BUT THAT DOESN'T MATTER BECAUSE IT WILL NOT STAY LOCKED. IN ADDITION TO THIS ELECTRICAL ISSUE THE FRONT SPEAKERS GO OFF AND ON AT RANDOM. ALSO, THE TURN SIGNAL REMAINS ON EVEN AFTER THE FULL TURN HAS BEEN MADE. THE CAR WILL RANDOMLY SHUT OFF WHILE IT'S BEING DRIVEN. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU ARE GOING 70 MPH OR 20 MPH. ALSO THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT ON MY CAR, THAT WAS RECALLED AND HAS SINCE BEEN REPLACED, BUT THE STEERING STILL MALFUNCTIONS. MY CAR WAS LEAKING FUEL THE SUMMER OF 2012, AFTER THE FUEL PUMP MODULE WAS REPLACED THE GAS TANK HAD TO BE REPLACED MONTHS LATER BECAUSE THE CAR CONTINUED TO LEAK GASOLINE. AFTER BEING SICK FROM THE CHEVY COBALT (HEADACHES AND VOMITING) DUE TO THE STRONG FUEL SMELL, I TOOK THE CAR INTO A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP FOR A RECALL OF THE FUEL PUMP MODULAR, AT THE TIME I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS OFF. I RECEIVED A RECALL ON THE POWER STEERING. I CALLED THEM AND TOLD THEM THAT MY POWER STEERING HAD GONE OUT TWICE ON THE CAR WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT. I BROUGHT IT IN AND THEY FIXED IT PROMPTLY BUT EVER SINCE I HAVE BEEN HAVING OTHER ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE BLINKERS NOT CLICKING OFF, THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS COMING ON AND OFF. (YES HE GOT THE FUEL PUMP FROM THE DEALER) AFTER RECEIVING A RECALL LETTER ON THESE PARTS I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY WERE GOING TO DO EXACTLY WHAT I HAD ALREADY PAID TO HAVE DONE. I FOUND MY RECEIPT FROM THE MECHANIC AND FILLED OUT THE FORM THAT WAS SENT WITH THE RECALL LETTER AND MAILED THEM IN. I'VE OWNED MY COBALT FOR A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AND IT IS AT 75,657 MILES. SO FAR I HAVE REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP, WHICH IS NOW COVERED BY THE RECALL, BUT I DIDN'T HAVE A CERTIFIED CHEVY DEALERSHIP REPLACE THE PART SO IT ISN'T REIMBURSABLE. NOW THE FUEL FEED PIPE HAS A LEAK AND SPRAYS FUEL ON THE ENGINE AND ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS TO THE BACKSIDE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING. I HAVE BEEN SMELLING FUEL VAPOR ORDER IN MY CAR FOR A WHILE AND HAD RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER FOR IT. SO I TOOK IT IN TO TOM GILL CHEVROLET AND THEY HAD REPLACED MY FUEL PUMP FOR FREE. AT THE SAME TIME I HAD THE ENGINE LIGHT COME ON AND IT READ "P0442 EVAP SYSTEM SMALL LEAK DETECTED" FIGURED THE FUEL PUMP WAS RELATED. AFTER THEY HAVE REPLACED IT, I STILL HAD THE ENGINE LIGHT ON AND IT CAME TO BE THE SAME PROBLEM. AT THE SAME TIME, I BEEN HAVING PERFORMANCE ISSUES AND EVERY TIME I PARKED THE CAR I STILL SMELL GAS AS I GET OUT OF THE CAR. I GOT MY BRAKES REPLACED AND WHILE THEY WERE UP THERE I CHECKED THE GAS TANK AND FOUND OUT THAT THE GAS TANK IS LEAKING WHERE THE FILLER HOSE WAS CONNECTED TO. I HAVE NEVER HAD ANYONE OR MYSELF MESSED WITH THE GAS TANK SINCE I BOUGHT IT NEW OFF THE LOT IN 2007 TILL TOM GILL CHEVROLET IN FLORENCE, KY HAD RECENTLY DID WORK ON IT. SO I TOOK IT BACK TO THEM THE NEXT DAY I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE GAS TANK AND HAD THEM TAKE A LOOK AT IT, AND THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT THE GAS TANK IS CRACKED AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. PRICED IT TO BE $1000. I HAVE EXPLAINED TO THEM WHY THEY DID NOT DETECT THIS BEFORE AND THEY HAD TOLD ME THAT THE LEAK WAS FROM THE TOP OF THE TANK AND THERE WAS NO WAY OF TELLING THAT THE LEAK CAME FROM WHERE THE FILLER HOSE WAS CONNECTED TO. THE THING IS AFTER LOOKING UNDER MY CAR AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THOUGHT ABOUT IT FOR A MINUTE, AND I KNOW JUST BY LOOKING THAT YOU CAN DISTINGUISH FROM THE TOP OF THE TANK AND THE SIDE OF THE TANK WHERE THE LEAK WAS COMING FROM. I WAS TOLD THAT IF I DID NOT REPLACE THE FUEL TANK, FUMES WOULD STILL BE EMITTED AND COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE A VEHICLE FIRE. I HAVE READ OTHER COMPLAINTS WITH SIMILAR CONDITIONS THAT RESULTED IN HAVING TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FUEL TANK AS WELL. I FEEL THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED AS A RELATED ISSUE TO THE CURRENT RECALL. FUEL PUMP ON MY 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT BEGAN LEAKING AUGUST, 2012. I CHECKED INTERNET AND DISCOVERED THERE WAS A RECALL ISSUE WITH THE FUEL PUMP ON THIS MODEL OF VEHICLE. I CONSULTED THE CHEVROLET DEALER AND WAS TOLD RECALL WAS ONLY EFFECTIVE FOR COBALT VEHICLES SOLD IN CERTAIN SOUTHERN STATES. SINCE I HAD TO PAY TO HAVE FUEL PUMP REPLACED, I HAD PUMP REPLACED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. I PHONED CHEVROLET NATIONAL REP IN DECEMBER, 2012, TO QUESTION WHY FUEL PUMP WAS ONLY BEING RECALLED IN 'HOT WEATHER' STATES WHEN TEMPERATURES WERE CONSISTENTLY IN THE 90'S IN THE CHICAGO AREA IN THE SUMMER OF 2012. I WAS TOLD THAT CHEVROLET WAS LOOKING INTO THE MATTER AND WOULD LET ME KNOW THEIR DECISION BY THE END OF JANUARY, 2013. OF COURSE, I NEVER HEARD FROM NATIONAL CHEVY REP OR CHEVY DEALER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM. I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT BECAUSE I FEEL THAT ISSUING A RECALL FOR ONLY CERTAIN STATES IS UNFAIR (DISCRIMINATORY?), ESPECIALLY SINCE THE PUMP PROBLEM I HAD WITH MY VEHICLE WAS EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL NOTICE. ALSO, IF THIS ISSUE IS RELATED TO WARM TEMPERATURE (CLIMATE) SITUATIONS, I BELIEVE THE TEMPERATURES IN THE CHICAGO AREA IN THE SUMMER OF 2012 WOULD HAVE CERTAINLY MET THAT REQUIREMENT. AT MINIMUM, I AM REQUESTING REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE COST OF THE REPLACEMENT FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY @ $310.89. IDEALLY, I WOULD LIKE TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE TOTAL COST OF REPLACING THE PUMP, WHICH WAS $577.32. LASTLY, I WOULD LIKE TO STATE THAT I'M NOTIFYING NHTSA OF THIS SITUATION BECAUSE IT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. FINANCES WHERE AN ISSUE AT THAT TIME , AS PAYMENTS ARE STILL OWED ON THE CAR, FINALLY IN FEBRUARY OF 2013 LEAK SEEMED TO BE WORSE. TOOK CAR TO A LOCAL GARAGE AND PAID $ 427.58 TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY FOR A PINHOLE / SMALL CRACK IN A FUEL LINE ATTACHED TO THE FUEL PUMP. COBALT BEGAN NOTICEABLY LOOSING FUEL AND APPEARED TO BE LOSING POWER WHEN GAS PEDAL WAS PUSHED. SHORTLY THEREAFTER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WITHIN A FEW DAYS EVERY TIME THE CAR WAS DRIVEN THE LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING PROGRESSIVELY GOT WORSE. DROVE THE CAR TO A "CERTIFIED GM MECHANIC AT THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP" FOR A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK WHO STATED THE CAR NEEDED A NEW MOTOR; ($ 3000.00). HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED FROM THE "CERTIFIED CHEVY REPAIR SHOP" TO A DIFFERENT MECHANIC BECAUSE IT NOW WOULD NOT EVEN START, WHICH NEW (HONEST) MECHANIC SAID THERE IS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL PUMP/FUEL PROPULSION SYSTEM. CONSEQUENTLY WHILE DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE WE ARE NOW FINDING MANY COMPLAINTS SIMILAR TO OURS ON THIS MAKE AND MODEL BUT FOR SOME REASON DUE TO OUR GEOLOGICAL LOCATION OUR VEHICLES ARE NOT UNDER THE 2009 RECALL FOR FUEL/PROPULSION ISSUES? TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS REFUELED TO CAPACITY, THE FUEL WOULD LEAK OVER THE COURSE OF A FEW DAYS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FUEL PUMP HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WE TOOK OUR 2007 CHEVY COBALT INTO OUR CHEVY DEALERSHIP HERE IN ROSEVILLE,CA TO GET OUR RECALLED FUEL SENSOR REPLACED. WE WERE THEN NOTIFIED THAT OUR FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO A CRACK IN IT, AND THAT WE ARE NOW LOOKING AT AN $800+ REPAIR FOR A NEW FUEL TANK. THIS CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT OR ANYTHING, SO I KNOW IT DID NOT CRACK FROM THAT. AFTER DOING A LITTLE BIT OF RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND THAT A NUMBER OF PEOPLE ARE BEING AFFECTED BY A) THE SENSOR FAILURE,OUTSIDE OF "QUALIFIED" STATES, AND ARE NOT BEING ADDRESSED, AND B) A NUMBER ARE GETTING THE SAME CALL FROM DEALERSHIPS ABOUT THEIR WHOLE FUEL TANK NEEDING TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THIS CRACKING. TO ME IT SEEMS THAT CHEVY PROBABLY USED THE SAME MATERIALS ON THE FUEL TANK AS THEY DID THIS SENSOR THAT NEEDS REPLACING DUE TO "HEAT". NOW ALONG WITH THE SENSORS CRACKING, THE TANKS ARE DOING THE SAME ONLY THEY ARE NOT COVERING THEM IN A RECALL. AS THE TECHNICIAN WAS IN THE PROCESS OF REMOVING THE GAS TANK TO ADDRESS THE FUEL PUMP RECALL ISSUE, HE IDENTIFIED A FUEL LEAK AT THE FILLER NECK ON OR TO THE GAS TANK. IN THE END, I HAD TO REPLACE THE GAS TANK, BUT THE FUEL PUMP RECALL DID NOT COVER THE COST. I AM REPORTING THIS BECAUSE I BELIEVE THIS COULD BE A SAFETY HAZARD DUE TO A FUEL LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THERE WAS STILL A MASSIVE FUEL LEAK. THE LEAK WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO SMELL AN OVERPOWERING ODOR OF GASOLINE WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD JERK ABNORMALLY WHEN DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,881 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

RECALL #09226B MY FRIEND SUGGESTED I TAKE THE CAR TO THE LOCAL DEALER (WAGNER GMC) IN BELLEVILLE, IL. SO I DROVE TO THE DEALER WITH THE RECALL IN HAND ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THIS RECALL ONLY APPLIED TO VEHICLES MADE IN FL, CA, AZ, NV & TX. SO AS I STOOD IN THE DEALERS REPAIR SHOP WITH GAS DRIPPING OUT OF THE TANK, I WAS TOLD THE REPAIR WOULD COST ME $572.00. I THINK THIS IS A HORRIBLE MISTAKE ON GM'S BEHALF THAT COULD HAVE DEADLY CONSEQUENCES. I ONLY FEEL FORTUNATE THAT MY FAMILY DOESN'T SMOKE. I TOOK MY CAR TO GET A OIL CHANGE AND THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THERE WAS A LEAK UNDER THE VEHICLE AND TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT BY A MECHANIC. THAT IT WAS A DANGEROUS SITUATION. I WENT HOME AND CHECKED ON LINE ABOUT GAS LEAKS ON A 2007 CHEVY COBALT AND FOUND OUT THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THESE MODEL CARS IN 2010. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED ABOUT THIS DANGEROUS AND HAZARDOUS SITUATION. I ALSO LEARNED THAT THE STATE I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE(IN MARYLAND) WAS NOT ONE OF THE STATES FOR THE RECALL. I CALLED MY NEAREST CHEVROLET DEALER AND TOLD HIM OF THIS PROBLEM BUT I WAS INFORMED I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR MYSELF. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!!! THE FUEL PUMP WAS CRACKED AND IT WAS THE MANUFACTURERS DEFECTED PART. A FUEL PUMP FOR THIS TYPE OF CAR SHOULD LAST AT LEAST 60,000 MILES. I BABYSIT FOR A LIVING AND THERE IS A SMALL CHILD IN MY VEHICLE ALMOST EVERYDAY. THIS COULD OF CAUSED SOMEONE TO LOSE THEIR LIVES OVER GM'S NEGLECT. WELL NEEDLESS TO SAY I PARKED MY CAR FOR 2 MONTHS UNTIL I HAD THE MONEY TO PAY FOR GM'S PROBLEM. SO NOW I AM OUT OF MONEY TO HAVE SOMETHING FIXED THAT WAS NO FAULT OF MY OWN. UPON SEARCHING FOR A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM, I LOCATED THE RECALL BUT GM CUT IT OFF AT 19000 VEHICLES BEFORE MINE. THEY MUST HAVE ASSUMED THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM, BUT APPARENTLY THE FIX DID NOT WORK ACCORDING TO THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS THAT ARE STILL COMING IN. IN MARCH, 2009, MY DAUGHTER PURCHASED A 2007 CHEVY COBALT FROM A CHEVROLET DEALER IN GILBERT, AZ. THE CAR HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED, AND THERE HAVE BEEN FEW MAINTENANCE ISSUES UNTIL RECENTLY. IN APRIL, 2012 SHE NOTICED THAT SHE WAS HAVING A HARD TIME STARTING THE VEHICLE, AND WHEN IT DID START IT SMELLED STRONGLY OF GASOLINE. WE TOOK IT TO OUR LOCAL MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THAT THE CAR NEEDED A NEW FUEL PUMP AND FILTER. THE CAR THEN STARTED OK, BUT WHEN THE GAS TANK WAS FULL WE CONTINUED TO SMELL GASOLINE OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE MECHANIC IN JUNE FOR AN OIL CHANGE, AND TOLD HIM ABOUT THE GASOLINE SMELL (PLUS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD COME ON). THE VEHICLE WAS THEN DIAGNOSED WITH AN EVAPORATIVE GAS LEAK, SO THE GAS CAP WAS REPLACED. AGAIN WE THOUGHT THAT THE ISSUE WAS CORRECTED UNTIL TWO WEEKS LATER MY DAUGHTER FILLED UP HER GAS TANK, AND WHEN SHE PARKED AT WORK SMELLED GAS STRONGLY AGAIN, AND THIS TIME NOTICED FLUID DRIPPING FROM UNDERNEATH THE CAR. THE NEXT DAY WE TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE MECHANIC, AND THIS TIME HE FOUND A CRACK IN THE PORT ASSEMBLY. HE REPAIRED IT WITH AN EPOXY REPAIR KIT TO THE BEST OF HIS ABILITY, BUT TOLD ME TO CHECK WITH GENERAL MOTORS TO SEE IF THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL OF ANY SORT. I CHECKED WITH THE NHTSA AT SAFERCAR.GOV AND THERE IT WAS. THERE MOST DEFINITELY WAS A RECALL THAT WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED OF REGARDING THIS FUEL LEAK ISSUE. I SENT A LETTER TO GENERAL MOTORS REQUESTING A COPY OF THE RECALL, ASKING WHY I WASN'T ORIGINALLY NOTIFIED IN FEBRUARY OF 2010, AND REQUESTING REIMBURSEMENT FOR MY EXPENSES, TOTALING $976.00. CUSTOMER SERVICE AT GENERAL MOTORS DENIED MY REQUEST, AND REFUSED TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY. THEY SAID THAT MY VEHICLE VIN WAS NOT LISTED. THEY WOULD NOT TELL ME WHY. ALL I KNOW IS THAT IF MY VEHICLE HAD BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME THE RECALL OCCURRED, I WOULD NOT HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE. *TR

MY 2007 CHEVY COBALT BEGAN LEAKING FUEL WHICH SENT STRONG VAPORS INTO THE CAR CAUSING ME TO NEARLY FAINT. AFTER RESEARCHING 2007 CHEVY COBALT RECALLS, I FOUND THAT IT WAS RECALLED IN 2009 FOR A DEFECTIVE FUEL SYSTEM WHICH CAN CAUSE FIRES. WHEN I NOTIFIED TWO DIFFERENT TUCSON CHEVY DEALERSHIPS OF THIS DEFECT AND REQUESTED IT BE REPLACED IMMEDIATELY, BOTH TURNED ME AWAY SAYING MY VIN IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST, THOUGH IT IS THE SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL. I EVEN TOOK IN FORMS PROVING THAT THE RECALLS FOR THE 2007 CHEVY COBALT DID NOT STATE IT IS ONLY ON CERTAIN ONES. *TR

I WAS DRIVING ON 78 GOING TO SAMS WHEN ME AND MY FAMILY NOTICED A LOUD SMELL OF FUEL AND SOME MOTORIST PASSING BY POINT AT MY CAR STATING THAT WE HAD LEAKAGE COMING FROM MY VEHICLE. SO AS I WAS TRYING TO GET OVER THE CAR SUDDENLY CUTS OFF RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREAKING FREEWAY ALMOST OFF THE ROAD BUT NOT QUITE. SO A GOOD PERSON STOPPED AND HELPED ME PUSH THE CAR OFF UNTIL THE POLICE SHOWED TO HAVE OTHER MOVING CARS MOVE TO THE NEXT LANE UNTIL WE WERE IN A SAFE PLACE. SURE ENOUGH THE FUEL UNDER MY CAR WAS POURING OUT. I ONLY HAD MY CAR A YEAR AND NEVER HAD SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN WITH ANY CARS I HAVE EVER HAD THIS IS ACTUALLY THE FIRST CAR FROM CHEVROLET I EVER OWNED. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP I GOT THE CAR FROM BUT IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AT ALL AND THIS IS VERY UPSETTING. SO NOW I AM WITHOUT A CAR FOR NOW. OVER THE LAST COUPLE DAYS WAS SMELLING GAS FROM UNDER MY HOOD . SO I CHECKED RECALLS AND FOUND OUT THAT A CERTAIN VIN NUMBER WAS RECALLED ON SOME 2007 COBALTS WHICH WAS NOT MY VIN. BUT IT ALSO INCLUDED SAYING THAT MY CAR WHICH CAME FROM ONE OF THE STATES THAT THEY WOULD CONSIDER REPLACING PART BUT WOULD CHARGE A FEE TO FIX IT. THEY WOULD HONOR BUT UPON CALLING MY GM DEALER IN WHICH I BOUGHT THE CAR SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL BUT I INFORMED THEM I FOUND IT ON THE SAME SIGHT IN WHICH I HAD MY STEERING FIXED FROM A RECALL AND SHE SAID THEY WOULD NOT FIX IT BECAUSE THERE WAS NO SUCH RECALL THEN I ALSO CALLED THE GM MAIN NUMBER AND THEY REFUSED A RECALL EVEN THOUGH I SAID THERE WAS AND WHAT BOTHERS ME IS THAT THERE IS DOCUMENT OF FIRES FROM THE VEHICLE THAT STARTS FROM THE IGNITION AND MY GRANDCHILDREN RIDE IN MY VEHICLE SO TO ME LOSS OF LIFE IS NOT WORTH THERE EXCUSES WHEN OBVIOUSLY THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL PUMP CAUSING FIRES HOPE I GET SOME RESPONSE TO MAYBE MAKE SURE NOBODY DIES FROM THIS PROBLEM. *JS

I AM IN ATLANTA, GEORGIA WHERE THE WEATHER IS 104'. I BEGAN TO DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY AND PARKED MY CAR IN A GARAGE WHERE I BEGAN TO SMELL GAS. THEN AS THE DAYS WENT ON I SMELLED THE GAS STRONGER AND FUMES. I WAS RIDING MY LITTLE 1 YEAR OLD COUSIN AROUND WHEN I NOTICED A GAS LEAK FROM THE CAR. HE THEN BEGAN TO COUGH AND I IMMEDIATELY SWITCHED VEHICLES FOR HIS SAFETY. I WAS TOLD THAT THE COBALTS HAD A RECALL ON FUEL SYSTEMS BUT MINE WAS NOT COVERED. I DID HAVE A POWER WHEEL STEERING RECALL WHICH I DID NOT UNDERSTAND WHY I DIDN'T HAVE A FUEL SYSTEM RECALL. I WOULD THINK THEY MESSED UP BOTH AT THE SAME TIME. I NEED THIS FIXED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE BECAUSE THE HEAT IS RISING OUTSIDE AND THE GAS IS ACTUALLY SPILLING FROM THE TANK. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WITHIN 20 MILES AFTER REFUELING TO CAPACITY, THE FUEL TANK HAD BURNED ONE QUARTER OF A TANK OF GASOLINE. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THERE WAS AN OVERPOWERING ODOR OF GASOLINE FROM WITHIN THE VEHICLE. THE OVERPOWERING ODOR WOULD CAUSE THE CONTACT HEADACHES WHENEVER SHE OPERATED THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO TO ASSIST WITH THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE, GASOLINE FUEL FUMES WERE EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 63,000.
