The air bag never deployed I bought car in 2018 from original owner with car only having 33,000 miles on it and still under warranty til car had 100,000 miles and I hit a deer head on 2 months after getting car which bought in may of 2018 hit the deer in July 2018 . The deer was hit with the front passenger side it broke my headlight n messed my hood up and smashed in the grill little and my air bags never deployed I hit deer at 50 mph , after that had happened I took it in to Chevy dealership and had them look at car cause I told them I hit that deer and air bag never deployed and that my air bag light came on once in awhile and said service air bag . The dealership said they do that sometimes and did something to make light go off that was it my air vag light still comes on and says service air bag . Also ignition switch and fuel smell foul coming from car a lot and is as I speak . My reduce engine power light comes on a lot and have no power to gas pedal n car won’t stay running . I have try to get two recalls fixed back in 2-21 I was having problems with my car back then too special reach called me in Jan of 2021 and told me that there were two recalls on my car ignition switch and fuel module so I informed dealership when I took my car in That next month in feb 21 told them I was informed on 2 active recalls on my car . When they were done with my car later that day I asked them if they fixed the recalls they said no cause it was map sensor so I then made an appt to get recalls fixed when I got there for the recalls to be fixed one of the technicians told me it shows that they were done . I called Chevy and complained about the issue I just had and never had recalls fixed but they must of put it in computer they fixed them So I’ve been really upset that I been trying to get past recalls fixed that are on my car and I get run around and told there isn’t any I know about a past recall on shift selnoid low circuit too that was a past recal

The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt. The contact stated that while driving 55 MPH, the contact struck a deer. The air bags did not deploy. Additionally, while driving at slow speeds, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact restarted the vehicle. There was an abnormal sulfur and fuel odor detected. The air bag warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the MAP sensor needed to be reset. The mechanic reset the air bag light. The mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the air bag failure. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 33,000.

Passenger side seat caused a situation where the air bags were turned off and warning lights to come on in dash. This occurs sporadically, it happens if I move the seat or if some one sits in it then gets out of the car. Has happened since I first bought the car used.

THE LETTER GOES ON TO ADVISE THAT IF I BELIEVE THAT THE VEHICLE HAS THE CONDITION DESCRIBED ABOVE IS PRESENT THE CONDITION WILL BE REPAIRED FOR ME AT NO CHARGE. I CALLED TWO DEALERS AND TOLD THEM THAT I BELIEVE THAT THE CONDITION IS PRESENT IN MY VEHICLE AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT UNLESS THE AIR BAG INSTRUMENT INDICATOR LAMP CONTINUOUSLY DISPLAYS A WARNING LIGHT FOR THE AIR BAG THEY WILL NOT CONSIDER MY VEHICLE FOR REPAIR. MY SON, OF THAI DESCENT WHO DOES NOT UNDERSTAND MUCH ENGLISH HAS ADVISED ME THAT HE HAS SEEN THE LIGHT COME ON INTERMITTENTLY. THE LETTER STATES THAT IF THE LIGHT IS INTERMITTENT THAT IS REASON TO BELIEVE THAT THIS CONDITION MAY BE PRESENT. SINCE GM IS NOT WILLING TO CONSIDER MY VEHICLE FOR REPAIR SINCE THE LIGHT IS NOT CONTINUOUSLY LIT I CONSIDER THIS LETTER A SAFETY WARNING AND WANT TO GO ON RECORD THAT I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHICH IS SUBJECT OF MY COMPLAINT. I ALSO BELIEVE THAT THIS LETTER ON THE PART OF GM WILL BE USED TO DEFEAT ANY CLAIM I AM HAVE IF THE AIR BAG DOES NOT DEPLOY. CAR HAD THIS LIGHT ON WHEN I PURCHASED THIS CAR FROM A DODGE DEALER IN DEC.2011, AND THEY SAID THAT THEY REPAIRED IT, BUT IT WAS NOT REPORTED IN DETAIL TO GM WARRANTY SERVICE, SO THEY LIED. NOW CAR NEEDS AIR BAG REPAIRS, NOT COVERED BY ANY WARRANTY, AND IT WILL COST OVER $900.00, AND CAR ONLY HAS 88,464 MILES ON IT. THIS WAS TOLD TO ME BY A CHEVROLET DEALER WHO IS DOING THE IGNITION SWITCH RECALL FOR MY CAR. I DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY, AS I'M STILL MAKING CAR LOAN PAYMENTS FOR THE NEXT 4 YEARS. I THINK THIS IS AWFUL, AIR BAGS AND SENSORS SHOULD LAST LONGER THAN 88,464 MILES. MY 1997 SATURN NEVER HAD AIR BAG PROBLEMS, AND IT RAN UNTIL 297,336 MILES. I LOOKED DOWN AT THE WARNING PANEL ON THE DASH WHICH STATED...SERVICE AIRBAG AFTER THE INCIDENT OCCURRED.....I WAS THANKFUL THAT I DID NOT LOOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR AT THE TIME OR THIS INCIDENT.....ALSO VERY THANKFUL THAT I DID NOT HAVE ONE OF MY GRANDCHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT OR THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN HIT BY THIS AIRBAG......AGES 11 YEARS AND 16 MONTHS!!!!!!!! MY PASSENGER WAS NOT INJURED....JUST SOME SORENESS OF HIS FACE AND EAR. MY CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT MORNING WHERE GM WAS NOTIFIED. THERE WAS AN INVESTIGATION AND INSPECTION BY GM AND MY CAR WAS REPAIRED AT NO COST TO ME. DURING THE 30 DAYS THAT THE DEALERSHIP HAD MY CAR I WAS IN DIRECT CONTACT WITH A GM CUSTOMER SERVICE REP. WHO KEPT ME UP TO DATE ON REPAIRS AND ASSURED ME THAT THE OTHER AIRBAGS WERE ALSO CHECKED. I REPEATEDLY DID ASK IF THERE WOULD BE A RECALL DUE TO THIS INCIDENT BUT WAS TOLD THERE WOULD BE NO RECALL AT THIS TIME SINCE THIS WAS AN UNUSUAL OCCURRENCE. *TR

AS I WAS PULLING INTO THE GARAGE I ALWAYS LOOK TO SEE EXACTLY WHERE I SHOULD STOP. AS I STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL TO PULL UP A LITTLE BIT MORE THE CAR ACCELERATED AND WOULD NOT STOP WHEN I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE AND WENT INTO MY SON'S TOOL BOX AND IF IT WASN'T THERE WOULD OF GONE THROUGH THE DINING ROOM WALL OUT THE OTHER SIDE. AS IT WAS THE TOOL BOX WENT INTO THE WALL. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS KEPT ON GO AS FULL SPEED, THE TIRES WERE SPINNING AND THERE WERE SKID MARKS ON THE FLOOR. THE BRAKES WENT DOWN TO THE FLOOR. THE GARAGE WAS FULL OF SMOKE FROM THE TIRES THAT IS HOW FAST THE CAR WAS GOING. I HAD TROUBLE SHUTTING OFF THE CAR.

I WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO CHANGE TO GREEN. THE PASSENGER AIRBAG CURTAINS BOTH DEPLOYED AND BLEW OUT THE HEADLINER OF THE VEHICLE. IT WAS ABOUT 80 DEGREES AND DRY. I WENT TO THE DEALER WHO SAID THE INCIDENT WAS AN INSURANCE CLAIM. MY INSURANCE COMPANY DENIED THE CLAIM SAYING THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT. A GM INVESTIGATOR READ THE DATA BOX AND THE CDR FILE INFORMATION SHOWS THERE WAS NO EVENT RECORDED TO RECOVER. SOMETHING WAS PREVENTING THE DATA BOX FROM BEING READ AT THE COMPUTER PORT UNDER THE DASH, THEY HAD TO REMOVE THE DATA BOX AND PLUG THEIR COMPUTER DIRECTLY INTO IT. INITIALLY GM CLAIMED I PUT THE VEHICLE IN A ROLLOVER SITUATION. NOW THAT HAS BEEN PROVEN WRONG, THEY ARE SAYING SOMETHING LIKE MOISTURE MADE THE AIRBAG DEPLOY. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY IN A 2009 CHEVROLET COBALT CRASH THAT CAUSED $7,200 IN DAMAGE AND ON STAR DID NOT CALL OR REPORT THE CRASH. WHEN I ASKED WHY, I WAS TOLD "BECAUSE THE "BRAINS" OF ONSTAR WAS "KNOCKED OUT" IN THE CRASH, THAT SHUT DOWN THE AIR BAG SYSTEM AND OTHER SAFETY MEASURES." FORTUNATELY, THIS CRASH DID NOT CAUSE ANY BODILY HARM TO THE PERSON INVOLVED, BUT THE WHOLE FRONT END OF THE CAR WAS PUSHED IN, RADIATOR WAS PUSHED BACK, WITH LOTS OF OTHER DAMAGE. THE PERSON IN THE CAR WAS FINE, BUT IF THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE BEEN PUSHED IN FURTHER IN, IT COULD HAVE BEEN IN THE LAP OR, EVEN WORSE, THE CHEST OF THE PERSON DRIVING. I DO NOT HAVE ON STAR FOR IT TO BE "DISABLED" IN A CRASH BECAUSE OF WHERE IT IS PLACED IN THE VEHICLE.
