The air bag never deployed I bought car in 2018 from original owner with car only having 33,000 miles on it and still under warranty til car had 100,000 miles and I hit a deer head on 2 months after getting car which bought in may of 2018 hit the deer in July 2018 . The deer was hit with the front passenger side it broke my headlight n messed my hood up and smashed in the grill little and my air bags never deployed I hit deer at 50 mph , after that had happened I took it in to Chevy dealership and had them look at car cause I told them I hit that deer and air bag never deployed and that my air bag light came on once in awhile and said service air bag . The dealership said they do that sometimes and did something to make light go off that was it my air vag light still comes on and says service air bag . Also ignition switch and fuel smell foul coming from car a lot and is as I speak . My reduce engine power light comes on a lot and have no power to gas pedal n car won’t stay running . I have try to get two recalls fixed back in 2-21 I was having problems with my car back then too special reach called me in Jan of 2021 and told me that there were two recalls on my car ignition switch and fuel module so I informed dealership when I took my car in That next month in feb 21 told them I was informed on 2 active recalls on my car . When they were done with my car later that day I asked them if they fixed the recalls they said no cause it was map sensor so I then made an appt to get recalls fixed when I got there for the recalls to be fixed one of the technicians told me it shows that they were done . I called Chevy and complained about the issue I just had and never had recalls fixed but they must of put it in computer they fixed them So I’ve been really upset that I been trying to get past recalls fixed that are on my car and I get run around and told there isn’t any I know about a past recall on shift selnoid low circuit too that was a past recal

The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start and was jumpstarted; however, the auto theft warning light illuminated, and the key could not be removed from the ignition. The contact was able to drive the vehicle however, the locks failed to lock the doors, and there was a clicking sound when the windows failed to roll up or down. The contact stated that after refueling the vehicle, the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of fuel. The contact stated that the tank was full however, the next day the fuel tank was empty. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 161,595.

Wiring harness is located too close to the human under the driver's seat. Exposes the driver to electrical frequencies that could be avoided if the wire harness was a further distance away from the human. Also, the the fuel line rusted through after 9 years about 9 inches away from the rear axle where the metal tape ends around the fuel line. The metal tape seems to allow more moisture to become trapped around the fuel line; which promotes rust and a leak where the metal tap ends. After the metal tape, the fuel line is in good condition on this specific vehicle. The fuel leak is about 0.5 inches wide and a lot of gasoline drips / leaks after the car is started. The rust particles are located after the fuel filter; which may promote the rust particles to reach the engine via the rusted fuel line. The car has trouble starting (a delay) and needs to have the key turned twice due to the leak. The leak is very close to the muffler, so it seems like it would be at risk of catching on fire if the muffler was hot enough or if it were traveling on a long trip or going up or down a steep hill. The vehicle has been inspected by police. There were no warning lamps or lights.

WITH NO RECENT CHANGES TO THE CAR, IT WON'T START, THEFT LOCK SYMBOL IS ON. TRIED THE SPARE KEY. TRIED THEFT LOCK RELEARN 10 MINUTE AND 30 MINUTE PROCEDURE. DISCONNECTED AND RE-CONNECTED NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL. NONE OF THE STEPS WORKED. THIS ISSUE HAS THE POTENTIAL TO KEEP FAMILIES STRANDED.

I BOUGHT A USED 2009 CHEVY COBALT 2 YEARS AGO IN 2017 WITH 119K MILES. IT HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT A HEADACHE WITH THINGS GOING WRONG! THE BIGGEST ISSUE IS THE CODE P2135 THAT SENDS THE CAR INTO REDUCED ENGINE POWER AND THE ENGINE SHAKES VIOLENTLY. THIS IS VERY SCARY ESPECIALLYWITH 3 YOUNG BOYS IN THE CAR WITH ME. I HAVE REPLACED THE ENTIRE THROTTLE BODY, ECM, ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY WITH NEW SENSOR, CRANKSHAFT POSITIONING SENSOR, CAMSHAFT SENSORS, SPARK PLUGS AND SPARK PLUG WIRES. AFTER ALL THESE THINGS I AM OUT OF IDEAS ONWHY THIS KEEPS HAPPENING IN BUT ALL THOSE NEW PARTS HAVE NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM THAT KEEPS OCCURRING. THE VEHICLE ANTI THEFT LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. WHEN THIS OCCURS THE VEHICLE JERKS IN DRIVE, HARD TO STOP, WHEEL WILL LOSE POWER STEERING IN DRIVE, AND ALL NEEDLES WILL MOVE. THE RPM, MPH, AND GAS NEEDLE CONTINUES TO FLUCTUATE. THE GAS NEEDLE WILL INDICATE LOW FUEL WHEN FUEL IS PRESENT. I CAN NEVER KNOW WHAT SPEED I'M DOING. THE VEHICLE FLASHES POWER STEERING DIGITALLY. HELLO, I HAVE A 2009 CHEVY COBALT. IT WAS RUNNING OKAY. I WENT TO THE STORE FOR SOME DOG FOOD. PARKED THE CAR, CAME BACK TO GO BACK HOME AND THE KEY 🔑 IN THE IGNITION WOULD NOT TURN. IT WAS LOCKED OR JAMMED, DON'T KNOW. KEY WOULD NOT TURN IN THE IGNITION SWITCH TO TURN THE CAR ON!!! I WENT TO THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FROM GENERAL MOTORS ON MY 2009 CHEVY COBALT. I FOUND A NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID# 14V171000 THAT SHOWS THE RECALL FOR MY CAR. IT DESCRIBES AN IGNITION SWITCH RECALL. I CALLED THE CHUCK NASH CHEVROLET WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY HAD REPAIRED THE RECALL. APPARENTLY THEY REPAIRED IT WITH A DEFECTIVE IGNITION-SWITCH OR NOT AT ALL. THE RECALL STATES THAT SOME VEHICLES WERE REPAIRED WITH DEFECTIVE OR USED PARTS. MARY BARRA, GENERAL MOTORS CEO STATED THAT ALL AFFECTED RECALL VEHICLES WOULD BE REPAIRED UP TO CUSTOMER SAFETY STANDARDS. I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP IN THIS MATTER. I AM UNABLE TO MOVE KEY FROM THE RUN POSITION, AND/OR REMOVE THE KEY. SO MY CAR IS SITTING THERE RUNNING AND I AM UNABLE TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE. AFTER NEARLY 10 MINUTES TRYING TO TURN THE KEY BACK TO OFF WHILE JIGGLING THE KEY AND THE STEERING WHEEL, AND SHIFTING THE GEAR SHIFT DOWN AND BACK TO PARK SEVERAL TIMES, I AM UNABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE IGNITION SWITCH AND KEY. SYMPTOMS MATCH EXACTLY THE AN EXISTING RECALL (15V500000) THAT LISTS ONLY THE 2010 MODEL YEAR AS BEING AFFECTED. THE DISABLING OF THE AIRBAG HAPPENS EVERY TIME THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW IS ROLLED DOWN. THIS OCCURS WHEN DRIVING AND STATIONARY.

ADDITIONALLY, THE STARTER KEY WAS DIFFICULT TO REMOVE FROM THE IGNITION OCCASIONALLY WITHOUT HAVING THE STEERING WHEEL IN A SPECIFIC POSITION. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT SOMETIMES THE ENGINE AND ALL THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS WOULD FAIL TO START; HOWEVER, ONLY THE TAIL LIGHTS REMAINED ILLUMINATED. I CALLED AGAIN MY CLOSEST CHEVROLET ( VAN CHEVROLET KCMO) DEALER AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE PARTS NEED TO BE ORDER AND THAT IT MAY TAKE UP TO 2 MONTHS. WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN MY STREET, MY CAR STARTED SHAKING & MY ENGINE, OIL & TRACTION SERVICE LIGHTS CAME ON. THE ENGINE SERVICE POWER DETECTOR CAME ON MY DASHBOARD. I HAD TO MISS WORK & CALLED THE DEALERSHIP & INFORMED THE MECHANIC OF THE PROBLEM. HE ASKED ME TO DRIVE IT IN. I INFORMED HIM THAT I DIDN'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING ON THE STREETS OR THE HIGHWAY. THE MECHANIC OFFERED FOR ME TO USE THEIR TOWING COMPANY BUT THEY CHARGE. I INFORMED THEM THAT I HAVE TOWING SERVICE. THE CAR WAS TOWED THAT DAY & ON FRIDAY, I RECEIVED A CALL; WHILE I WAS AT WORK FROM THE MECHANIC STATING THAT THEY CHECKED THE CAR OUT & THE FRONT THROTTLE BODY HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO A SENSOR BEING FAULTY. THE COST OF REPAIRS WOULD BE $575. I JUST PURCHASED THIS CAR ON 4/19/14 FROM JIM TRENARY IN O'FALLON MO & 3 WEEKS LATER, I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL FAILING. THE DEALERSHIP DID PAY FOR THAT EXPENSE BUT NOT THIS ONE BECAUSE THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM ISN'T COVERED UNDER THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. I FEEL LIKE THEY ARE TRYING TO GET OVER ON ME BECAUSE I AM A WOMAN & DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT CARS. AFTER DRIVING THE CAR AND PUTTING THE PARKING THE CAR IN ITS SPOT, THE CAR WAS UNABLE TO BE TURN OFF THE CAR. SHE WAS NOT VERY HELPFUL AND WOULD NOT GET BACK WITH ME AND I HAD TO KEEP CALLING HER SINCE SHE DID NOT CALL ME. THERE IS A SPECIAL BULLETIN #10256 ABOUT THIS EXACT PROBLEM INCLUDING ONLY THE 2009 COBALT HOWEVER AS THERE IS NOT AN OPEN RECALL THE MANUFACTURER WILL NOT REPAIR MY CAR BECAUSE MY CAR HAS A BRANDED TITLE AND THEY WILL ONLY REPAIR 'OPEN RECALL' ITEMS. I DROVE TO MY DESTINATION AND TRIED TO TURN OFF MY CAR, HOWEVER, THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN OFF. LUCKILY, I DRIVE A 5 SPEED AND WAS ABLE TO KILL THE ENGINE BY POPPING OUT THE CLUTCH OTHERWISE I WOULD BE FORCED TO LET THE ENGINE RUN UNTIL IT RAN OUT OF GAS. WITH THE ENGINE OFF, THE KEY WAS STILL STUCK IN THE CAR AND ALL THAT WAS NEEDED TO RE-START THE CAR WAS A GIGGLE OF THE KEY. THIS IS REALLY UNSAFE. WITH MY KEY STUCK IN MY CAR, I WAS UNABLE TO LOCK THE CAR DOOR; OTHERWISE I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO REENTER THE CAR. THIS MEANT THAT A CHILD COULD HAVE ENTERED MY CAR AND WITH THE KEY ALREADY IN THE CAR (SINCE IT WAS STUCK) THEY COULD HAVE DRIVEN IT AND CAUSED SERIOUS BODILY INJURY OR DEATH TO THEMSELVES OR TO ANOTHER. IF MY CAR WOULD HAVE BEEN AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, THEN THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN NO WAY TO SHUT IT OFF EXCEPT FOR RUNNING IT OUT OF GAS. I HAVE NOT CHANGE MY DRIVING HABITS SINCE I BOUGHT THIS CAR. THE CAR I HAD BEFORE THIS HAD A REGULAR ODOMETER AND NOT THE DIGITAL. THE CAR WAS 1997 AND IT HAD 155,000 AND I DROVE OUT OF TOWN A LOT. BY THE END OF THE YEAR I WON'T HAVE A POWER TRAIN WARRANTY ANYMORE. THERE IS JUST NO WAY IN HELL THIS IS CORRECT AND I HAVE HEARD OTHERS SAY THE SAME. SOMEONE NEEDS TO STEP UP TO THIS ISSUE.. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH LOCK CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT VEHICLE WOULD DRIFT FROM LEFT TO RIGHT WHEN DRIVING AT LEAST 60 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED FOR THE DRIFTING FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000.

COULD NOT SHUT CAR OFF WHEN PARKED. THE KEY WOULD NOT MOVE LOCK TO SHUT CAR OFF. COULD MOVE KEY FORWARD (TO START), BUT COULD NOT MOVE TO OFF. IMMEDIATELY DROVE CAR TO DEALER. DEALER TOLD ME THEY HAD TO DISCONNECT BATTERY (WHILE THE CAR WAS RUNNING) TO SHUT OF THE CAR THEN PROCEEDED TO REPLACE THE IGNITION CYLINDER. THE REMARKS ON DEALER REPAIR INVOICE WERE " REPLACED IGNITION CYLINDER DUE TO THE KEY GETTING STUCK IN THE HOUSING AND THE CYLINDER BLOWING UP". NOTE THAT I CONSIDER NOT BEING ABLE TO SHUT OFF A RUNNING CAR EXTREMELY UNSAFE! IN CASE SOMETHING HAPPENS LIKE THROTTLE STICKING ETC. (DON'T KNOW IF THERE IS ANY HISTORY OF THROTTLE STICKING ON THIS MODEL YET). ALSO, GENERALLY IT IS BAD PRACTISE TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY CABLE ON A RUNNING ENGINE. THIS MAY AFFECT THE COMPUTER (FUTURE SAFETY ISSUE? OR FUTURE EXPENSIVE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM REPAIRS). DOES GM CONDONE THIS PRACTISE AT THEIR DEALERS? 2009 CHEVY COBALT. OVER PAST 6 MONTHS, ON A COUPLE OF OCCASIONS: IGNITION SWITCH WOULD NOT TURN OFF. I HAD TO SELECT IGN SWITCH ON/OFF SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE ENGINE WOULD SWITCH OFF AND I COULD REMOVE KEY. SEPT 21 PARKED AT HOTEL TO CHECK IN. RETURNED TO CAR- STARTED NORMALLY. I PARKED CAR AT ROOM IGNITION SWITCH WOULD NOT TURN OFF. KEY JAMMED IN IGNITION. I HAD TO DISCONNECT BATTERY TO SHUT OFF CAR. UPON RETURN HOME CAR TAKEN TO DEALER-IGNITION SWITCH,COLLAR AND KEY REMOVED/REPLACED. DEALER SERVICE MGR STATED HAD SEVERAL OF THESE AND MECHANIC FAMILIAR WITH REPLACEMENT. 2009 CHEVY COBALT LS, THE ODOMETER REGISTERS 1 MILE, SLIGHTLY BEFORE YOU ACTUALLY DRIVE 1 MILE. I FOUND THIS USING MILE MARKERS ON THE HIGHWAY AFTER SEEING MAJOR DIFFERENCES FROM OLDER VEHICLES WITH ANALOG ODOMETERS AS I TRIED TO MEASURE MILES I'D HIT MY STOP WATCH RUNNING ON THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. THIS MAKES THE WARRANTY EXPIRE I GUESS 3-4% SOONER THAN IT SHOULD AND COULD QUITE POSSIBLE !@#$%'. OVER THE CONSUMER WHOSE NOT GETTING WHAT THEY PAID FOR. I WOULDN'T CALL THIS A SAFETY ISSUE BUT A SNEAKY WAY TO SCREW THEIR CUSTOMER OVER. I JUST SPOKE TO GM TODAY ABOUT IT BUT DOUBT ANYTHING WILL BE DONE TO RESOLVE THIS. THE CAR HAS ABOUT 17,000 MILES ON IT WHICH IS REALLY MORE LIKE 16,500 OR A LITTLE BIT UNDER AND IF SOMETHING HAPPENS JUST AFTER THE MILEAGE FOR WARRANTY PURPOSES, THAT'S !@#$%'. OVER YOUR CUSTOMER. BACKGROUND: I HAVE A CHEVY COBALT ('07) AND CURRENTLY HAVING A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH POWER STEERING. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND NOTICED HUNDREDS OF OWNERS EXPERIENCED THE SAME OR SIMILAR PROBLEM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY(US). 1. PROBLEM OCCURS AFTER START DRIVING FOR COUPLE HUNDREDS FEET OR LESS. WE PURCHASED A 2009 CHEVY COBALT FOR OUR SON WHO IS JUST LEARNING TO DRIVE. WHILE PRACTICING PARALLEL PARKING AND THE 3 POINT TURN THE STEERING LOCKED UP AND WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO MOVE. WE TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER WHO SAID THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT COULD OCCUR (AND THERE WAS A BULLETIN ISSUED BY GM) BECAUSE THE POWER STEERING IS RUN BY COMPUTER AND IT COULD OVERHEAT WHICH COULD HAPPEN WHEN PRACTICING PARALLEL PARKING. NO INCIDENT HAS OCCURRED AT THIS POINT, HOWEVER, I SEE THIS AS A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD. I HAVE A 2009 CHEVY COBALT WITH BATTERY INSTALLED IN THE TRUNK. THE BATTERY VENT TUBE IS CONNECTED TO THE TOP OF THE BATTERY BY A PLASTIC ELBOW, A PLASTIC VENT TUBE IS CONNECTED TO THE MALE NIPPLE ON THE ELBOW. THE PLASTIC VENT TUBE INSIDE DIAMETER APPEARS TO BE TOO SMALL INSIDE DIAMETER FOR THE MALE NIPPLE. THE PLASTIC VENT TUBE IS SPLIT WHERE IT ATTACHES TO MY BATTERY WHERE IT IS PUSHED ONTO THE MALE NIPPLE WHICH WILL ALLOW THE VENTED HYDROGEN GAS TO VENT INTO THE TRUNK (WHICH IS PART OF THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT ONLY SEPARATED BY THE BACK SEAT) I THINK PRESENTS A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD AND POTENTIAL FIRE RISK. I CAN SEND YOU A PICTURE OF THE SPLIT VENT TUBE IF YOU NEED TO SEE IT. I ASSUME THAT THIS IS A FACTORY INSTALLATION DEFECT, THIS IS NOT AN IMPROPER REPAIR DEFECT, SO THIS SITUATION COULD EXIST ON OTHER MODELS USING THIS TYPE OF VENT TUBING. *TR
