All Electrical System Complaints (114)
When driving normally on wet paved city roads (it had recently rained but not currently raining), my truck suddenly lost power steering and the warning messages came on to service power steering and stabilitrak systems. Traction control lights also came on. The next morning, I tried starting the truck again, and the power steering came back temporarily before losing it again and service messages came back on. I've read many others in online forums have had this same electrical connection issue, and it was a recall on the 2015 model year of this same truck.
The electric power steering system on my vehicle intermittently fails while I am driving. When the failure occurs, the steering suddenly becomes extremely heavy and difficult to control, creating an immediate safety risk to me and to others on the road. The loss of power steering has happened multiple times with no advance warning. Each time, the only way to temporarily restore normal steering is to pull over, turn the vehicle off, and restart it. The problem occurs randomly and without a pattern. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The issue has been evaluated by the dealer’s service center. They were not able to reproduce the failure during their inspection, but they did confirm that the vehicle had stored a diagnostic trouble code indicating a power steering failure. The service center reported that the code was too generic to determine the root cause, and no repair was performed. They acknowledged that the steering failure had occurred based on the stored code, but could not identify why it was happening. During the failures, the vehicle displays warning messages stating that both Stabilitrak and Power Steering have failed. These messages appear only at the moment of failure, with no prior warning lights or symptoms. This intermittent loss of power steering severely compromises safe operation of the vehicle, especially when turning at low speeds, entering or exiting parking lots, or navigating intersections. It puts me, my passengers, and the surrounding drivers and pedestrians at risk because the vehicle cannot be steered normally when the failure occurs.
When the truck is driven there are times at random that the steering wheel locks into place while driving at any speed on the road. This warrants me to slowly try and get the car off the road to shut it down and restart it and then the steering goes back to normal. This has happened multiple different times on different days. This has not happened on the highway yet, but if this occurs while driving on the highway this poses a huge risk for an accident to occur. Chevy has had this similar recall on previous 2015s and it seems that 2016 owners are complaining about this issue but it is yet to be a recall.
While driving, my 2016 Chevrolet Colorado experiences sudden voltage drops and intermittent loss of power steering assist — the same symptoms described in the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado recall (NHTSA #16V054000). When the failure occurs, the steering becomes extremely heavy and unsafe, especially during low-speed turns or lane changes. In September 2024, I brought my truck to an authorized Chevrolet dealership for sudden loss of power steering and electrical issues. A diagnostic was performed, and a fuse was replaced — they claimed that fixed the issue. Not even a month later, in October 2024, I brought my truck back to the dealership for the exact same issues. They confirmed a voltage drop but could not identify a specific cause. They verbally advised me they “cleaned the connectors,” which temporarily fixed the problem. Approximately one year later, in October 2025, the same issue returned — identical symptoms and voltage behavior. My truck was manufactured in August 2015, which is close to the recalled 2015 production window. Based on the symptoms and timing, I believe my truck may have been built using the same steering components or wiring harnesses as the recalled vehicles. This appears to be the same safety defect that caused the 2015 recall, only affecting a slightly newer VIN range. I request that NHTSA investigate whether additional 2016 Chevrolet Colorado vehicles built in mid-to-late 2015 should be included in the recall for loss of steering assist. No service lights will be on and suddenly while driving I will get “service stabilitrak”, “no traction control”, and “service power steering”. Turning off my vehicle and restarting will temporarily fix the issue. Chevrolet Colorado, 2016, steering assist loss, voltage drop, power steering failure, recall 16V054000, safety defect, connector corrosion, torque sensor wiring harness, electrical failure, early production 2016
The power steering will suddenly go out while a “Stabilitrak” warning comes up on the display. There are many reports of this problem documented online in this year and model, and the 2015 had a recall for this known issue that was evidently not resolved OR recalled for the 2016 model. Suddenly losing power steering when traveling at highway speed or making a turn is a tremendous crash risk as it is very difficult to turn the wheel and the responsiveness and ability to turn quickly is greatly diminished. I and my wife have both almost crashed when this has happened. Most of the time turning the vehicle off and then on again will reset and reactivate power steering, other times it does not. I have called two Chevy dealerships who acknowledged an awareness of this problem, but difficult to replicate the problem on demand, and not always the same repair but almost always related to the steering rack and cable bundle. As I understand it, replacing the entire rack is about a $2000+ repair that based on anecdotal information online seems to resolve the problem. I am shocked Chevy/GMC is willing to assume this liability and not issue a recall or at least offer some kind of reimbursement option for doing the right thing and getting the repair done rather than place others at risk on the roads. This problem has been going on and off for the past year.
Power steering failure identical to Recall #16V054000 (issued February 2016) on 2015 Colorado. Vehicle will unexpectedly lose power steering udden stiff steering and both “Service power steering” and “Service Stabilitrak” warnings appear on dashboard. Defective parts appear to be gear assembly (GM part #23228020) and revised torque sensor cover kit (GM part #84344239)
FPCM code P069E. Engine stalls when slowing down. Local dealer says to check wires around water pump area if rubbing and unsecured.
Power Steering and stabilitrak warnings were displayed while I was driving and I immediately lost power steering while trying to execute a turn off the highway. This almost resulted in an accident. Warnings have been displayed twice now without prior incidents, and no warning that I will lose power steering.I have not taken my vehicle in yet, but other owners of 2016’s have reported the same issues with no response from the manufacturer. The 2015 model had a recall for the exact same issue with the exact same part number, however they will not address the issue in the 2016 model. This is a public safety issue as accidents and even death can occur if one loses steering while driving.

My 2016 Colorado is having a power steering failure identical to the 2015 recall. Recall #16V054000 (issued February 2016) covered 2015 Colorados and Canyons with the same type of electric power steering (EPS) gear assembly prone to internal corrosion. Exact failure symptoms: Sudden stiff steering, steering wheel locks/stiffens “Service power steering” or “Stabilitrak” warnings DTC codes like U0073, U0101, C0545, etc. Defective part: Original gear assembly: GM part #23228020 Revised torque sensor cover kit (to prevent corrosion): GM part #84344239 The vehicle has been taken to the dealership in January when this failure first occured. The dealer claimed it was due to the corroded negative battery cable. I explained that this was a known issue and a recall had been issued for the same part on the 2015 model. They refused to investigate further. On 07/14/2025 the issue resumed and repeated after restarting the vehicle till it reset no more and remained without power steering. I dropped off the vehicle and one rep informed me that this issue was due to wear and tear and that my vehicle was not on the list of recalls. I spoke to a supervisor and he said they would look into it but it did not sound promising.
While going 70 on the freeway, I lost power assist on my steering. I immediately slowed and drove to a gas station. I read in the manual it was still safe to drive. I highly disagree. After turning it off and restarting the engine, the steering returned to normal. My mechanic told me it was the steering sensor based on the error message. He suggested I drive it to see if it repeats. I am afraid this could cause an accident and I understand it's a know problem that was only addressed in 2015 models. Same thing with my gym trainer. 2016 Colorado and it happened 4 months ago. He's waiting as well.
The contact stated the company they work for owns a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the transmission would slip intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed the transmission failed. The transmission was replaced. When attempting to start the vehicle it failed to start. They had to jump-start the battery to start the vehicle. The battery was replaced by O'Rileys, a battery specialty shop. Approximately a year later, while another employee was driving at approximately 65 MPH when smoke began coming from underneath the vehicle's hood. The driver pulled over and exited the vehicle. The fire department came and put the fire out. The fire department informed the contact that the cause of the fire was because the battery caught fire. The fire department filed a report. The vehicle was towed and deemed totaled. There were no injuries or need for medical assistance. The contact spoke with the dealer who informed them that the VIN was not included in a recall. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 88,000.

Wiring harness problem resulting in loss of power to a/c, and other electrical components such as radio scrolling without being called for, only small portion on left side of touch screen works. Problem previously reported under 11516530. Dealership that sold me the vehicle and other automotive shops want $75 or more just to look at the problem. Current mileage on this vehicle is just over 50,000 miles. [XXX] living in Florida and I have been without a/c since last summer. Prior to that the power steering & brakes would go out without warning. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
My 2016 Colorado has been having the infamous power steering and Stabilitrak issue that stems from a poor connection in the steering rack (to my understanding). While driving the power steering will randomly go out, making it extremely difficult to turn. It has nearly caused an accident while driving when it went out mid turn. Usually stopping, turning the truck off, then back on will temporarily resolve the issue but it reoccurs nearly every trip.
07-01-23 Vehicle died out, wouldn't start, got jumped, still wouldn't start. No indicator lights or warnings. Towed vehicle to the dealership, where it was for 11 1/2 months with the determination it was the ECM and Harness. Which it took that long to get. The vehicle was given back 06-14-24, even though it was in running condition, it was discovered parts were missing. Dealership put on order, received by end of July and installed. November 13, 2024, vehicle died out while driving on the freeway. Dashboard lit up everything, had to get the vehicle towed back to dealership. I have the Onstar diagnostics indicating the same components as the original reason the vehicle was held for an approximate year. Dealership now has vehicle and we have to wait for them to do a diagnostic.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Water intrusion to the cab of the truck has structural failure in the roof causing it to leak inside the cab. Leak runs into dash and out of ignition causing electrical issues in the dash and ignition, along with pooling on the floorboards causing rusting; runs into the rear 3rd brake light and rear headliner causing electrical concerns to the rear brake light not alerting of braking and leaks into rear seats causing rusting under the seats where the seats can fall through the floorboards. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? rear brake light failure to alert surrounding drivers of braking. Possible electrocution in starting the vehicle with water in the ignition and dash; possible passenger/driver being dropped through the floorboards while driving. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? unknown Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? I have had it looked at by mechanics and told it was a body issue and needed to go to a body shop, not the dealership. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No
While driving power steering stop working. Nearly hit the car. Was able to get the truck to the side of the road. I turned the truck off. Waited 2 minutes tried to start truck. Won’t start. The lost power steering light stability track and four-wheel-drive service light came on
The traction control light and stability turn on then the power steering turns off then the vehicle starts running oddly and wasting gas the seats went down on their own the rear view camera turned off multiple problems
The power steering quits with no warning. It is very difficult to drive as without power steering turning is very difficult. It takes agreat deal of strength. I am worried that I may not be able to make a turn if the steering goes out during a turn. Have to restart truck to get power steering back. Occurs randomly
Stabilitrak system forms off while driving and power steering is lost. This makes steering extremely difficult and unsafe to drive, especially at high speeds. This is a common issue I've read about and needs to be addressed by Chevrolet.
The vehicle beeped a warning and power steering stopped working. I cut the switch off and the vehicle reset and everything started working. This happened on August 9,2024. On August 18, 2024 the same thing happened again. I stopped the vehicle, turned it off , and it reset again. Both times the system warning said that stability control had stopped working. Thank you.
DTC C0460, C0545 Internal Fault in Steering Gear Power Steering failing intermittently...ESP light and No traction lights come on on dash...can usually reset by turning truck off and restarting but does create an increased risk of accident due to failure while driving, especially at highway speeds All routine maintenance/service has been performed on vehicle and an extended warranty was purchased but expired December 2024 Truck has 68,000 miles...I believe it is unreasonable/irresponsible of Chevy to believe that a $2800 repair is normal under 100,000 miles. I also believe it should be a recall due to the safety issue with inability to maneuver vehicle in hazardous conditions (snow/rain) thus increasing the likelihood of an accident. Upon researching, I found that the 2015 Colorado trucks have been recalled for this problem (electric power steering failure) and that Chevy uses the same faulty part in the 2016 models. Why have the 2016 Colorado trucks not been recalled as well?
When driving at 40mph a service Stabilitrak warning came up on the dashboard and the power steering immediately turned off making the truck difficult to control. The check engine light also turned on, but there was no prior warning that something was wrong. I was able to pull off the road safely, but would not have been able to execute anything more than a wide turn and if the road wasn't completely straight it could easily have caused an accident. I will take the truck to a dealer tomorrow to have the issue looked at and the truck inspected.
The electric power steering is going out spontaneously while driving and also disengaging stablitrak and abs just like the already known recall for the 2015
Randomly lose power steering and enables stabilitrak.
The stabilitrak and power steering goes out intermittently. This is the same part and part number as the ones that were recalled on the 2015 models. It makes no sense for the 2015 part to be recalled and not rhr 2016 when it’s the same problem with the same part number. This causes the steering to freeze and almost caused a fatality without any warning. Please look at the 2015 Colorado recalls to see the documentation This has been happening for the past year and now it’s become more common
Power steering fails. Will reset upon restarting the car but will fail again later down the road. This was a known defect in the 2015 models, and recalled, but the 2016 models (using the same component as the 2015) have not been recalled. The power steering can fail at any time, putting mine and others' lives at risk. No warning lights, just power steering failure.
The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The failure was intermittent. The contact used excessive force to steer the vehicle. The contact stated that on several occasions the vehicle was restarted, and the vehicle regained power steering functionality however, the failure would recur soon afterwards. The contact found NHTSA ID Number: 10208045 (Steering, Power Train, Electrical System, Exterior Lighting) as well as NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V213000 (Steering) which were related to the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the battery had failed. The battery was replaced. The failure persisted and the vehicle was returned to the dealer, and a recalibration was performed. The vehicle was returned to the dealer a third time to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the torque sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and it was confirmed that the failure was related to the NHTSA ID Number and the recall however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage 85,000.

Loss of power steering while driving, could cause loss of vehicle control. Issue occurred 3 hours after vehicle purchase and was accompanied by multiple warning lights on dash. Dealer stated they had performed some wiring repair before my purchase, but did not disclose that at time of purchase
Stabilitrack system alerts then will cut off power steering. Clicking on the shift module occured resulting the computer to go into limp mode making unsafe to drive when it happens spontaneously as I drive. Took it to a local mechanic and ecu codes came up however the dealership is scheduled this weekend. No warnings. The mechanic was able to see the codes pop as I drove
Power Steering electrical assist shut off several times while driving and once while parked. Extremely difficult to turn steering wheel and incredibly dangerous and life threatening. Service Power Steering and Service Stabilitrak error show on dash screen. Digital Diagnostic shows ERROR U0420-42 INVALID DATA RECEIVED FROM POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE-CALIBRATION NOT PROGRAMMED. This random continuous issue NEEDS to be fixed or truck recalled or someone will be seriously injured. Please push this information forward.
While driving to work the power steering stopped. There was a faint audible chime and a warning comes on and there is no power steering. This happened two separate times this week and one other time approximately three months ago. I was able to exit the highway. I turned the vehicle off, took the key out of the ignition, and exited the vehicle. There's no smoke or unusual smell from the engine. When I restarted the vehicle, the warning light goes off and the power steering works again like normal. I have contacted the dealer for an appointment.
My 2016 keeps losing the power steering and stability traction. Same problem the 2015 had a recall on. The exact same part number. I almost wrecked yesterday while making a turn when it went out on me. I had to find a safe place to pullover and shut my truck off and restart it so the power steering would work. There are several complaints on the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado's that the recall was for on the 2015. This happens all of the time. Some time 10 times a day and some days non at all.
It's a known issue that these vehicles have wiring harness chaffing issues in multiple areas. In 2016, a TSB was issued under PIP5416 to address this in 2016 models. It has since been subsequently updated to cover all years through 2021 models under TSB PIP5416B, C, and D because GM failed to acknowledge fix this potentially dangerous and expensive issue. Byers Chevrolet had to repair 6 wires that were damaged from rubbing in and area addressed by this TSB. Upon researching, there are countless reports on internet user forums and Facebook groups of this issue occuring. Being a Fleet Manager, I see all kinds of recalls addressing the smallest issues like tailgate handles, but silence when it comes to an issue as serious as this.
A known wire chaffing problem for this make/model caused vehicle to loose all transmission power. Doors unlocked and locked on their own while moving the vehicle. Had two young children with me in 100+ degree weather. Truck finally moved in first gear at 20 mph max to get home on the road with other traffic.
My 2016 Chevy colorado z71 power steering/stabilitrack lights turns on and makes it very difficult for me to make turn’s safely.
Power steering and stabilitrak keep going out while driving. The electrical stuff on the screen on the dash goes out too
Power steering and stalilitrak keep going out while driving the electrical stuff on the dash keeps going out too
Power steerin and stabilitrak went out while driving. Electrical thing on the dash goes out as well
Power Steering and Stabilitrak go out while driving
Power steering and stabilitrak went out while driving. power to dash went out while driving
Power steering and stalilitrak went out while driving. Dash lost power while driving
My power steering and stablalink keep malfunctioning. My power steering will go out on me while I'm driving!
Power steering/stabilitrak keeps going out and malfunctioning WHILE DRIVING
Same as the recall bulletin 15595 for the 2015 model year. Power steering intermittently goes out and goes back to normal after stopping/starting vehicle.
Vehicle suddenly loses power steering without warning. The power steering module is connected to the CAN bus which errors everything else on the same network so stabilitrack, traction control, ABS, etc goes out all at the same time. On icy roads, this caused to hit the ditch at very high speed. What I don’t understand is why you only forced a recall on the 2015 MY when the 2016’s use the same exact components and assembly process. Clearly this is still an issue for many 2016 owners!
While my 17 year old son was traveling on the highway at a speed of 55, the truck (2016 Chevy Colorado)suddenly lost its power steering. He was barely able to get off the road, because the steering wheel was so hard to turn. The stabilitrak warning light came on and a warning light about the power steering also came on(while the problem was happening). My son was very concerned, because he said if he had been traveling at that speed around a curve, he could have crashed. This seems very serious to me. I googled this problem, only to find there have been recalls on several 2015 and 2016 models, but my VIN was not one of them.... something is wrong here!!?? I'm scared to let him drive it anymore.
Power steering stopped working while driving on open road. A box in the display opened and said that there was a problem and see dealer. The vehicle was stopped and inspected under hood. No reservoir or pump, so suspect it is an electrical issue. Turned vehicle off for a few moment and restarted, made a phone call to home and all of a sudden, the power steering started working again. Returned home, made appointment with Chevy service, paid for diagnostic of issue, nothing found, no codes, no history, can not observe issue during test drive. Vehicle returned to me, I have driven about 400 miles with not a repeat of issue. I have read about a recall for this issue in the 2015 model, and have heard of owners of 2016 having the same issue, so I am adding my experience. I have the repair doc. but can not upload it at this time. RAB
A warning came on my dash board for Service saying "Power Steering Drive With Care" followed by another Service warning for "Stabilitrak." See photos of warnings. I had the same incident occur a couple of months ago, but it went away while driving and no adverse affects occurred. However, this time, my power steering lost all ability to function. Luckily, I was parked and just reversing out of a parking spot. I shut the vehicle off, opened and closed my doors, and restarted it to no avail. The power steering was still not working with the same warnings. I was close to home with only a few turns so I muscled my way to the road. Power steering returned while on a straightaway going 25 mph. The warnings did not cease even though power steering returned. I have restarted my vehicle twice and the warnings are still there. The Stability Control Warning Symbol and TC symbol to the left of the info display also stay on while these warnings are occurring. Took pictures of them for proof that are included. I read on this forum (https://www.coloradofans.com/threads/2016-colorado-stabilitak-power-steering-fault.413270/) that it is a known issue and see many complaints here on NHTSA. This is a dangerous scenario that should be investigated and seems to be an obvious manufacturer's fault or oversight, especially since a recall was issued for some 2015 models. Please investigate before crashes begin to occur. Its an expensive repair that many will not pay for, especially since it is well documented to be an issue plaguing the vehicles.
When shifting into Park and attempting to turn ignition off, the ignition does not fully rotate to the Off position and I’m unable to remove key from ignition. There are several YouTube videos demonstrating this issue with thousands of views, so the problem clearly affects a lot of people. Some videos show where the ignition safety switch solenoid does not properly disengage when placed in Park. Would be more than happy to have my vehicle inspected and tested, if needed. Have been able to “work around” issue by doing a couple of quick release pops of the shifter release switch. Seems to be a mechanical + electrical issue. Happened suddenly in February 2023 when parking in a busy parking lot. Became very nervous and concerned that I couldn’t turn the ignition off and therefore remove my key. Was not going to walk away from vehicle and leave the key in the ignition either. Have not yet reported to dealer, but that’s my next step. No warning lamps or related lights on dash.
Try to completely shut the truck off but cannot remove the ignition key after putting the truck in park . After several times of starting the truck and moving the shifter back and forth then turning the truck off the key releases. Went on car gurus.com chat line and found this problem is widespread. Chevrolet dealerships will not honor the warranty on this issue if the vehicle is passed it’s warranty. Looks like someone is going have to get injured or trapped in the vehicle for Chevy to acknowledge this safety issue. Thank you for your consideration.
The ignition swich won't turn off in one of ten time. Truck could be stolen & driven away.
Experiencing intermittent power steering lose while vehicle is moving. Contacted GM and got a GM diagnostics and they said that I have to replace steering rack. Same problem as other intermittent steering loss. Safety concern. I have more files but difficult to upload on current platform.
Colorado truck has been experiencing intermittent failure of power steering system for several weeks. This has occurred on start up and also while vehicle is moving. The problem may resolve temporarily on its own and then recur at another time. Watson Chevrolet evaluated this problem on 9/28/22 and found “DTC UO420 42 Which states that the power steering control module was not properly calibrated, causing the electronic brake control module to lose communication with it. Reprogram the PSCM. Condition is no longer present.” The problem reccurred while driving on September 30, 2022. Chevy dealership has been notified and the vehicle will be taken back in for further evaluation.
The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that when she parked the vehicle she was unable to remove the key from the ignition. The contact stated that in order to remove the key she was required to turn off and restart the vehicle several times. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic however, the failure did not occur while the vehicle was with the mechanic. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The contact stated that while attempting to remove the key from the ignition, she had to continue to turn off and restart the vehicle and noticed she was unable to depress the brake pedal as well. The vehicle was taken to Premier Chevrolet of Seaside (4 Heitzinger Plaza, Seaside, CA 93955) and My Chevrolet (444 Auto Center Cir A, Salinas, CA 93907) on separate occasions for routine services; however, the failure did not occur so the mechanics were unable to give a diagnosis for the failure. The vehicle was later taken to Chevrolet of Watsonville (490 Auto Center Dr, Watsonville, CA 95076) for a failure with the vehicle idling however, the failure could not be duplicated. Additionally, the contact stated that when she attempted to remove the key from the ignition, all the door locks engaged intermittently and would not unlock unless she was able to remove the key from the ignition. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 57,000.
Mileage: 57,000
While driving on the highway "service stabilitrack" warning suddenly appeared. The warning went away, but the light on the dash stayed illuminated as if I had manually turned off stabilitrack. Dash then indicated traction control was turned off, speedometer, rpm gauge, and temp gauge all started bouncing around and fuel range indicated "--". Also received a warning that power steering is not functioning. Vehicle would not appropriately change gears (automatic transmission), causing issues maintaining speed. I have a video of the gauges (taken by my partner while I was driving) that can be sent via email, or screenshots can be uploaded upon request. An online search yields several forum posts indicating this is a repeated issue for this model year, causing significant safety issues and leaving individuals stranded. Within forums I discovered a service bulletin regarding the issue, but it appears no one felt this was important enough to issue a recall or notify owners. I have not yet been able to get to a dealership for repairs, as this occurred on a weekend (while I am 14 hours away from home), but I will be contacting a dealer Monday morning.
While driving the truck randomly loses power steering. The display screen states that the anti-lock brake system needs to be serviced. Once I turn the truck off and back on it seems to reset and work as normal. The dealer will not fix due to the truck not having any check engine lights on. This is very frustrating and a safety issue that Chevy needs to look at.
Has happened multiple times where driving and notification comes on dash that Stabilitrak and Power steering are malfunctioning and then stop working. Has happened in the middle of a turn and the wheel turn to lead in my hand and I almost crashed. Every time it happens the only way to fix it is to pull over and reset computer and pray it doesn't shut off again while I'm driving. I've spoken to numerous others with the same year and have had similar electrical issues, as well I have seen dozens of people posting online asking the same questions so i know its not just my car and I know there is a recall out for the same part on the '15 Chevy Colorado. The issue of bringing it into the mechanic to fix is that if nothing is going wrong at the time they can't see the issue. This is an extreme safety issue. more than once the power steering has shut off while taking a steep turn. GM needs to be help accountable to fix this issue.
The vehicles power steering system has failed on at least six occasions while being operated over the course of the past 30 days. When the power steering system fails the vehicle display gives two warnings: First, steering assist is reduced drive with care. Second, service stablitrak. This puts the safety of the operator and others at great risk as the vehicle becomes extremely difficult to steer, especially at low speeds, as well as limits the driver's ability to drive reactively to their surroundings. This extreme loss of control has lead to uncomfortably close near collisions on two occasions. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or service center. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer or any other entity. There were no other warnings lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. However, the problem is highly common and with the use of a search engine one can easily come to the conclusion that the manufacturer needs to be held responsible for their faulty craftsmanship in reference to this issue.
The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the contact was unable to release the key from the ignition. The contact stated that he had to manipulate the steering wheel and ignition switch after approximately 5 mins and the key would release from the ignition. There was no warning light illuminated. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 49,000.
Mileage: 49,000
Common problem reported by many consumers, infotainment system changes stations, randomly shuts down, fast forwards songs on media, touchscreen non-responsive. Had mine replaced to the tune of $800+ and the same thing is happening to the new unit. Only this time, I get the entire system cutting out and then only the front tweeters coming back on after a minute. New unit does not have adjustable back up camera view, too bright at night when backing up, glare causes me to be unable to see.
While driving the steering wheel locks up and it says service Stabilitrak and engages the traction control and will not let you steer your vehicle at all, this could be fatal at hight speeds and I am shocked that this is not a recall I've seen hundreds of complaints online about it.
I was driving on the high way and the power steering went out almost sent me into another car
Key gets locked in the ignition after you put it in park and try shut off the vehicle. Vehicle won’t turn off. It takes 10 to 20 minutes before it will release the key. I believe this is a safety issue and have seen a good amount of people online that have the same issue and the manufacture refusing to address or fix the problem.
Wire chaffing by the AC suction line and by the serpentine belt near fan clutch, almost got me killed. WE NEED A RECALL ON THIS ASAP, this is a common problem being overlooked by GM.
Sudden loss of power steering while driving. Difficult to control vehicle. Has happened about 10 times in the last two weeks. Also occurs during cold start, less frequent. Restarting returns to normal operation until it fails again. Dash message indicates stabilitrack and power steering disabled. Appears to be same problem as 2015 model recall
The Power Steering is going out while Driving has happen 4 times now in 4 Days..The truck has 90,000 miles....The Radio started acting up at 50,000 miles.. The Radio will start changing flashing lights changing Modes not safe while driving at night...
While driving the vehicle, the drivers information display in the dashboard changed from speedometer to radio information, the radio turned up, and on the infotainment unit; I could see it scrolling through channels. I pulled over and returned the settings to normal and as I pulled out, the system started trying to make phone calls through my connected phone. Additionally, while this was happening, it seemed that I had no other normal system sounds (i.e. blinker, seatbelt reminder, etc.) Later while driving on the same trip, the infotainment unit turned on my backup camera while driving and continued to change vehicle settings including reciting navigation directions from an earlier trip. Needless to say, this caused a fairly significant distracted driving scenario.
I'm a couple of different occasions I went to start the truck and it would not turn over and it flashed a warning about servicing the stabiltrak and the trailer brake system. Both of these systems checked out fine by the dealership. All the online forums I have seen seem to indicate that this is an issue with the wiring harness not being properly mounted and chafing causing shorts in The wire system. I've been to the dealership twice and they claim to not find it but I don't know how hard they're looking at the wiring harness.
Infotainment screen goes crazy at random times while vehicle is in use. Screen jumps around and randomly changes, radio stations change, dashboard speed display changes screens as well. This is a very bad distraction while driving. I have video of this saved on my phone. I was able to pull over to record it yesterday (9/28/21). This problem has been happening on and off at random times for over a month. I have spoke to my dealer about it, and made an appointment for evaluation. I have also contacted Chevrolet service to see if it will be repaired at no cost as a safety issue.
When it first happened, I cranked my vehicle and seconds later, a chime and two messages went across my dash saying "Stabilitrack disabled." "Power steering disabled." and both were inoperable. I restarted the truck, and it ran fine. Happened again two weeks later. Then two weeks after that, it happened suddenly WHILE DRIVING down the road. Again, it worked properly after restarting, but it's started to be a constant. Now it immediately shows "Stabilitrack disabled" after starting and the power steering goes after about 10-15 minutes of driving, like clockwork. There were no lights on or any other warning indicators prior to this happening. It was a sudden issue with an otherwise unproblematic vehicle. I see there was a recall for a bad wiring harness connection that caused exactly this for the 2015 year model. Mine is a 2016 and no recall exists. I've seen a few other forum posts stating their 2016 has done this as well. I have not yet taken it to a mechanic/dealer, but that is my next action. It is available for inspection. Needless to say, this is extremely unsafe for both myself and other drivers on the road. Losing the ability to (positively) turn at an inopportune time could be catastrophic.
My power steering on my 2016 Chevrolet Colorado went out on a 30mph turn and nearly lost control of my truck. As I was driving, I slowed to make a stop on a city street when there was a sudden loss of power steering. It was very difficult to steer and turn but I made it to the side of the road. The vehicle did not lose power or shut off. The message said there was a loss in power steering and to seek service. The traction control and stability track warning lights turned on. I turned off the vehicle. This problem happened about 4 months ago and had not reappeared until the last few days 06/19/2021 . Now it happen twice since. Upon restarting, the vehicle drove normal. It is a safety hazard. This is definitely a safety issue and it should be taken care of by Chevrolet. This should be forced to be repaired. This is a safety hazard for the public, the operator, and anyone riding in the vehicle. I will be bringing it to a deal in Freehold, NJ. 1 Affected Product
Today about 4:00 pm driving down the interstate my truck lost all electric dash and radio while driving stayed cranked going 70 mph around Robert Louisiana couldn’t see speed don’t know what is happening with this truck but it has several safety issues from brake assist lights that come on to radio and dash going off
2016 colorado SERVICE BULLITEN PI1429 CANT REMOVE KEY FROM IGNITION WHEN PARKING SHIFT LEVER ISNT ENGAGING OR FULLY SEATING. THIS IS POTENTIALLY VERY DANGEROUS IF AN EMERGENCY EVER AROSE OR RESPONDING TO IT...IF YOU CANT REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION THAN WHAT IS THE POINT OF EVEN DRIVING THIS TRUCK. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED IM NOT GIVING CHEVY $800 TO FIX YOUR OWN MISTAKE. PAID 30K FOR A TRUCK THAT YOU CANT TAKE THE KEY OUT OF.
WHEN TURNING OFF MOTOR, KEY GETS STUCK IN IGNITION SWITCH AT RANDOM. KEY CAN STILL TURN MOTOR OFF AND ON, BUT NOT BE REMOVED. HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR OVER A YEAR.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER SHIFTING INTO PARK AND WAITING FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES SHE COULD REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION. SHE ALSO STATED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AFTER DRIVING FORWARD AND THEN BACKING UP SEVERAL TIMES THE KEY COULD BE REMOVED. ADDITIONALLY, THE GEAR SHIFTER INDICATOR LIGHT FAILED TO SHOW THE GEAR THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. DURING ANY TYPE OF MOISTURE IE (FOG, RAIN) VEHICLE GOES INTO REDUCED ENGINE POWER MODE CODES FROM THE ECM P2122 AND P2138 BOTH RELATING TO APP. FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS IN RAIN STORM IN MOTION, APP PEDAL WAS REPLACED WITH NEW OEM PART BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. I SUSPECT WATER INTRUSION FROM WIPER COWLING AFFECTING ELECTRIC HARNESS. THIS PROBLEM DOES NOT EXIST DURING DRY SEASON. AFTER MANY HOURS OF ONLINE RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM IN CHEVROLET VEHICLES.

THE IGNITION KEY WON'T RELEASE AT TIMES, AND HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR MONTHS NOW. THE ENGINE WILL TURN OFF, BUT SOME ACCESSORIES REMAIN ON. SOMETIMES I CAN FIDDLE WITH THE KEY OR THE SHIFT LEVER, BUT IN A WORSE CASE I NEED TO DISCONNECT A BATTERY CABLE, TAKE THE KEY OUT, AND RECONNECT THE BATTERY. A DEALER EXAMINATION SAID IT WAS SOME KIND OF SWITCH MALFUNCTIONING AND IT WOULD COST OVER $300. GM/CHEVROLET ONLY OFFERED $10 REDUCTION. MANY PEOPLE APPARENTLY ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM.

WHILE THE VEHICLE REMAINED IN MOTION TAKING A TURN ON A ROUNDABOUT, THE VEHICLES POWER STEERING AND STABILITRAK SUDDENLY TURNS OFF CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BECOME VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER AND NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO COMPLETE THE TURN. THE SITUATION HAPPENED TWICE IN ROUNDABOUTS IN THE PAST COUPLE MONTHS. ONE OF THE TIMES THIS HAPPENED MY WIFE WAS DRIVING WHILE MY TWO YOUNG CHILDREN WERE IN THE VEHICLE. SHE DESCRIBED HITTING THE CURB, BECAUSE OF LACK OF ARM STRENGTH TO PULL THE WHEEL. THE ISSUE RESOLVES WHEN YOU CAN SAFELY PARK AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALER IT WAS CONFIRMED THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH THE "STEERING GEAR PINION" AND APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE WITH CHEVY COLORADO'S. THE DEALER MENTIONED THE COST TO REPLACE THIS ELECTRICAL COMPONENT INCLUDING LABOR WAS AN UPWARDS OF 1800 DOLLARS. FOR 2015 MODEL YEARS IT APPEARS 3000 VEHICLES WERE RECALLED FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE, HOWEVER A BROADER RECALL WAS NOT EXTENDED TO THE 2016 MODEL YEAR. AFTER CONTACTING GM IT WAS EXPRESSED THAT THEY WOULD NOT COVER MY VEHICLE UNDER THIS RECALL AT THIS TIME. I WAS CHARGED FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC FEE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF ISSUE.

DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, VEHICLE IN USE, MANUFACTURER INSTALLED TOUCH SCREEN WITH SUDDENLY MOVE ON IT'S OWN, CHANGING THE RADIO STATIONS, FLIPPING THROUGH OPTIONS, TURNING OFF DIRECTIONAL AIDS, SCREEN WILL FLASH. IT HAS ONCE CALLED ONSTAR ON IT'S OWN. ALSO CHANGES THE SCREEN IN THE CENTER OF THE DRIVER'S SCREEN ON THE DASHBOARD AT THE SAME TIME SO EYES ARE SHIFTED TO IT FROM THE ROAD, CAUSES A DISTRACTION. DEAD SPOTS ON SCREEN LEAVES YOU UNABLE TO TRY TO REMEDY THE SITUATION. VEHICLES HAS LESS THAN 50K MILES. I DO HAVE A VIDEO AVAILABLE BUT UNABLE TO UPLOAD HERE. THE FOLLOWING DAY THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PARADISE CHEVROLET LOCATED AT 6350 LELAND ST, VENTURA, CA 93003, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE NEGATIVE CABLE FROM THE BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE NEGATIVE CABLE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED, HOWEVER, THAT THE CABLE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE POWER STEERING POWER FAILURE. THE TECHNICIAN ALSO DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING GEAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO SENSOR FAILURE, AND THAT THE COMPUTER SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS AND THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COLORADO AND CANYONS THAT OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. LEAVE YOUR KEYS IN THE VEHICLE AND YOU HAVE A DEAD BATTERY. THIS IS THE SECOND OCCURRENCE OF THE PROBLEM I AM GOING TO DESCRIBE. WHAT OCCURRED TODAY WAS A LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHILE TAKING A RIGHT TURN OFF OF A SIDE STREET ONTO A CROSS STREET INTO TRAFFIC. IT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO COMPLETE THE TURN, AND CAUSED A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHERE I ALMOST CROSSED THE LANE INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. UPON STRAIGHTENING THE VEHICLE OUT I NOTICED A ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL WARNING MESSAGE, THEN AS I CONTINUED TO DRIVE TO LOOK FOR A SAFE PLACE TO STOP, A NO POWER STEERING MESSAGE CAME ON STATING TO DRIVE SAFELY OR SOMETHING TO THAT EFFECT. AFTER I FOUND A LOCATION TO PARK, I REPEATEDLY TURNED THE CAR OFF AND ON IN HOPES OF RE-SETTING THE SYSTEMS. THIS DID NOT HAVE ANY AFFECT ON THE FAULTS AND THE MESSAGES REMAINED. I ALSO NOTICED WHEN I REVERSED THE VEHICLE , THE BACK UP SCREEN GAVE ME A MESSAGE THAT THERE ARE NO PROJECTION LINES. I SLOWLY DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME THE REST OF THE WAY WHILE "MUSCLING" IT AROUND TURNS. APPROXIMATELY THIRTY MINUTES AFTER I HAD ARRIVED HOME, I RESTARTED MY VEHICLE AND ALL SYSTEMS WORKED CORRECTLY WITH NO WARNING MESSAGES DISPLAYED. I HAD MENTIONED THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS OCCURRED, THE FIRST TIME WAS ABOUT THREE MONTHS PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT. I THOUGHT THAT I HAD ACCIDENTALLY TURNED THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL OFF OR SOMETHING. THIS INSTANCE THE VEHICLE RESET AFTER I TURNED IT OFF AND RESTARTED IT. TO NOTE IS THIS VEHICLE IS EXTREMELY WELL MAINTAINED AND IN VERY GOOD CONDITION.

WAS RETURNING FROM A 300-MILE TRIP ON JUNE 17TH WHEN I RECEIVED A "SERVICE 4WD" MESSAGE ON THE DISPLAY CONSOLE. CALLED GM DEALER SERVICE SHOP AND SET UP APPT FOR JUNE 28TH (EARLIEST AVAILABLE DATE). THREE DAYS LATER, PICK-UP AUTO-SHIFTED AND LOCKED INTO 4WD. NEXT MORNING, JUNE 21ST, DROVE PICK-UP TO DEALER SERVICE SHOP. TECHNICIAN WAS ABLE TO TAKE PICK-UP OUT OF 4WD, BUT SAID HE COULD NOT GUARANTEE IT WOULDN'T SLIP BACK INTO 4WD. I CONTINUED TO RECEIVE "SERVICE 4WD" MESSAGES. ON JUNE 27TH, WHILE MAKING A LEFT-HAND TURN ACROSS ONCOMING TRAFFIC, PICK-UP AGAIN AUTO-SHIFTED AND LOCKED INTO 4WD. THE WHEELS LOCKED WHILE IN THE TURN, STALLING THE VEHICLE WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC BARRELING DOWN ON ME. I DID NOT THINK I WOULD SURVIVE. FORTUNATELY, OPPOSING TRAFFIC WAS ABLE TO SWERVE AROUND ME, AND I WAS EVENTUALLY ABLE TO LIMP THE PICK-UP THROUGH THE LEFT-HAND TURN AND OUT OF DIRECT TRAFFIC. VEHICLE WENT INTO DEALER SERVICE SHOP THE FOLLOWING MORNING (JUNE 28TH), STILL LOCKED IN 4WD. SERVICE SHOP HAD THE PICK-UP FOR 18 DAYS. FINAL VERDICT: PIN TENSION ISSUES AND FLUCTUATING VOLTAGES IN CONNECTOR, WHICH MISS-SIGNALED THE VEHICLE TO AUTO-SHIFT INTO 4WD. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME I'VE HAD ISSUES WITH THE 4WD ON THIS PICK-UP. THE FIRST TIME I RECEIVED THE "SERVICE 4WD" MESSAGE AT 214 MILES. VEHICLE AUTO-SHIFTED AND GOT STUCK IN 4WD. DEALER SERVICE SHOP REPAIRED ISSUE. AT 5,096 MILES, THE PICK-UP AGAIN ISSUED A "SERVICE 4WD" MESSAGE AND AUTO-SHIFTED INTO 4WD. WAS DIAGNOSED AS AN INTERNAL SHORT; AND THE 4WD SELECTOR SWITCH REPLACED. THIS THIRD TIME WAS DETERMINED TO BE ANOTHER INTERNAL SHORT. I FILED A REPORT WITH GM. THEY DETERMINED THE PICK-UP WAS STILL SAFE TO DRIVE EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE HAD AUTO-SHIFTED INTO 4WD ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS AND EVEN THOUGH THE 3RD TIME ALMOST GOT ME KILLED.

THE IGNITION WILL NOT TURN COMPLETELY OFF WHICH MEANS THE KEY WILL NOT COME OUT. I MAY HAVE TO RESTART THE ENGINE, PUT IT IN GEAR AND MOVE A FEW FEET, FIVE TIMES TO GET THE KEY OUT. THE ENGINE ITSELF SHUTS OFF, BUT EVERYTHING ELSE STAYS ON. THIS HAPPENS FREQUENTLY. CHEVROLET HAS ISSUED A BULLETIN SAYING A DIRTY KEY WILL CAUSE THIS. HOW MANY TIMES IN YOUR LIFETIME HAVE YOU HAD TO CLEAN A KEY? THIS HAPPENS AFTER I HAVE STOPPED AND TRIED TO TURN THE TRUCK OFF.
THE DRIVER INSTRUMENT AND RADIO DISPLAYS GO BLACK FOR SOME MINUTES (2 TO 20) MINUTES AND THEN RETURN TO FUNCTION. I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2016 CHEVROLET COLORADO DUROMAX DIESEL IN SEPTEMBER OF 2016. AT 9,638 MILES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON FOR THE NOX SENSOR. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THEM BUT IT DID NOT FIX ANYTHING. AS IT TURNS OUT THE ISSUE WAS A RECALL WHICH REPROGRAMMED THE ECU. THEY DECIDED TO MAKE THE TOLERANCES LOOSER ON THE SENSORS. AT 10,647 MILES THERE WAS A LOUD WINING COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE RACE TO THE PINION BEARING IN THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL WAS PITTED AND CAUSING THE BEARING TO FAIL. THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL NEEDED TO BE REBUILT. AT 22715 MILES THE TRUCK WOULD GO INTO REDUCED POWER MODE WHICH IS 25 MILES PER HOUR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY CAUSING OTHER MOTORISTS TO SWERVE TO AVOID A COLLISION. WHEN THE TRUCK WAS TURNED OFF AND TURNED BACK ON THE ERROR WOULD CLEAR AND THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVABLE AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE SO IT TOOK MANY VISITS BEFORE THEY REPLACED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR. AFTER THIS DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE AND ALMOST CAUSED ANOTHER ACCIDENT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN AND THE COMPLETE WIRING HARNESS WAS REPLACE. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE CONNECTORS WERE IMPROPERLY CRIMPED AT THE FACTORY. THE TRUCK IS NOW AT THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN AT 26,000 MILES TO REPLACE THE DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID PUMP. THIS FAULT ALSO CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO GO INTO REDUCED POWER MODE WHICH ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AGAIN. THIS VEHICLE IS NOT RELIABLE, DANGEROUS, AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT, ESPECIALLY WHEN MY FAMILY IS WITH ME. I CONTACTED CHEVROLET CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE TEAM CONCENTRIX ON BEHALF OF CHEVROLET TO SEEK A SOLUTION ON A BRAND NEW VEHICLE THAT HAD MAJOR PROBLEMS. I CLEARED THE WARNING MESSAGES AND STARTED TO DRIVE TO TAKE IT IN AND GET IT LOOKED AT BY A CERTIFIED CHEVROLET MECHANIC. I LEFT THE PARKING LOT AND AFTER ENTERING THE NEARBY STREET I NOTICED THAT THE DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER WAS NOT DISPLAYING ANY VEHICLE INFORMATION (SHOWING ZEROS OR BLANKS FOR ALL DIAGNOSTIC INFORMATION INCLUDING MILEAGE, FUEL, OIL PRESSURE, SPEED ETC). ALSO, THE NEEDLES FOR THE SPEEDOMETER, TACHOMETER, FUEL GAUGE, AND ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE GAUGE WERE LIFELESS AND READING ZEROS. ONLY THE ODOMETER AND "INFOTAINMENT" SYSTEM WERE WORKING CORRECTLY. I ESTIMATED MY SPEED TO BE ABOVE 30 MPH AT THIS POINT. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF THE ROAD, PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND TURNED IT OFF. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND SCANNED THE WIRING UNDER THE HOOD AND STEERING WHEEL BUT COULD NOT IDENTIFY ANY ISSUES. WHEN I STARTED THE VEHICLE AGAIN, ALL THE ISSUES WERE GONE AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED. SEEMED KINDA LIKE RESTARTING A COMPUTER TO CLEAR SOFTWARE ISSUES. NOT SURE WHAT COULD'VE CAUSED IT. MY VEHICLE IS A 2016 CHEVROLET COLORADO Z71 WITH 27,000 MILES ON IT. IT WAS PURCHASED OCTOBER 2015. ENGINE REVS HIGH COMING TO A STOP. REQUIRED BOTH FEET PRESSED HARD ON THE BAKES TO EMERGENCY STOP. SPEED CONTROL QUITS WORKING THEN SERVICE-STABILITY CONTROL COMES ON, CAR STARTS TO HANDLE ACKWARDLY, PULLS TO LEFT THEN. CUT ENGINE OFF AND IT RESETS, BUT THE CRUISE CONTROL STOPS WORKING AND THEN THAT SERVICE STABILITY CONTROL COMES BACK ON.IF I DON'T PUT ON THE CRUISE CONTROL, I DON'T GET THAT STABILITY CONTROL MESSAGE SO FAR. BRAKING PROBLEM HAPPENS WHEN COMES TO A STOP. CRUISE CONTROL HAPPENS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS BUT SOMETIMES GOING 45 MPH.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET COLORADO. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALER, THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS HAD FRACTURED. AS A RESULT, THERE WERE VARIOUS ELECTRICAL FAILURES, INCLUDING ILLUMINATION OF THE AIR BAG AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING INDICATORS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS NEEDED TO BE SHRINK WRAPPED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK OR WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS UNABLE TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT A TECHNICIAN WOULD BE SENT OUT TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 176.
