The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated while driving 55 mph, several unknown warning lights illuminated and the vehicle intermittently stalled. The contact also stated that the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road; then drove the vehicle to her residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed the contact that they could not determine the cause of the failure since the unknown warning lights were no longer illuminated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer for diagnosis once the warning lights were again illuminated. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000.

Service Bulletin Number: 14311B, Date: June 2015, Service Bulletin: SB-10057574-8899 CONDITION On certain 2011–2015 model year Chevrolet Cruze vehicles, the negative battery cable terminal clamp may have an insufficient crimp at the battery negative terminal. Over time, the internal resistance increases and vehicle electrical systems do not receive adequate power. With this condition, the following effects are possible: the Radio/HVAC Display may turn off and on; the Antilock Brake System, Service Traction System, Service Stabilitrac and Steering vehicle messages may come on and off; the turn signal sound may not be heard; “Battery Saver Active” and “Service Steering” may display in the Driver Information Center (DIC); and the interior and exterior lighting may flicker. Power steering assist may also be lost, and greater effort may be needed to turn the steering wheel at low speeds or while the vehicle is stopped. It's in the Service Bulletin Provided below. I am not sure if my 2012 Chevy Cruze Eco is included in this Service Bulletin (Below), but this Service Bulletin is the closest thing I could find that describes what is going on with my Vehicle. Lights blinking, steering hard to turn, steering warning light coming on (Stabilitrac), and other things as well described in the Service Bulletin. Again, I am not sure if my car's VIN Number, is included in the Service Bulletin, I would like to know if it is? or not?, before taking it in to the Dealer Ship, for repairs/service, because it is unsafe to drive at this point forward.

ON MY WAY TO WORK FEBRUARY 22 I HAD NOTICE A STRONG BURNING SMELL AND JUST ASSUMED IT WAS FROM SOMETHING OUTSIDE. SO I JUST IGNORED IT AND CONTINUED MY DRIVE. ONCE I GOT TO WORK I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS SOME LIGHT SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER MY HOOD SO I LIFTED IT AND CHECKED TO SEE IF ANYTHING LOOKED STRANGE BUT I DIDN'T NOTICE ANYTHING. SO I CONTINUE TO DRIVE FOR A FEW MORE DAYS BECOMING ACCUSTOMED TO THE SMELL AND SMOKE. MIND YOU I CHECK ALL MY FLUIDS ONCE A WEEK BECAUSE I DO ALOT OF LONG DISTANCE DRIVING. AFTER ABOUT 6-8 DAYS OF DRIVING TO MY NEW JOB THE SMOKE STARTED GETTING THICKER AND MORE WHITE AND I STARTED TO NOTICE THAT MY OIL LEVEL WAS DROPPING. SO I BOUGHT SOME TO KEEP IN MY CAR SO I DIDN'T RUN IT DRY. BUT I HAD TO KEEP DRIVING IT TO WORK BECAUSE I NEEDED TO HAVE A PAYCHECK COMING IN. I HAD BEEN OFF WORK FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS DUE TO THE PANDEMIC AND COULDN'T AFFORD TO BRING IT TO A MECHANIC UNTIL MY FIRST PAY DAY. WELL NEEDLESS TO SAY AS I PULLED UP TO MY HOUSE ON THE 8TH (TWO DAYS BEFORE MY VISIT TO THE MECHANIC) I NOTICED THE SMOKE WAS MUCX MORE INTENSE THEN IT WAS BEFORE SO I LIFTED THE HOOD AND SAW FLAMES. SO I CLOSED THE HOOD AND GRABBED SOME BAKING SODA FROM MY HOUSE AND POURED IT OVER THE FLAMES. MY NEIGHBOR SAW WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND CAME OVER TO SEE WHAT WAS HAPPENING AND NOTICED WHERE THE OIL WAS COMING FROM AND SAID HE COULD PATCH IT TEMPORARILY SO I CAN MAKE IT TO THE MECHANIC. BUT I AM NOT WILLING TO TAKE THE RISK. ALSO ABOUT A MONTH AGO I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A NOISE COMING FROM MY FRONT WHEELS AS I WAS DRIVING AND THE VEHICLE STARTED PULLING TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE.

SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING CAR, THE CAR STARTED AND LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING BY ITSELF MORE THAN 10 MINUTES AFTER EXITING THE CAR. THEN HEAT STOPPED WORKING IN 0 DEGREE WEATHER. WHILE DRIVING NOTIFICATION SAID "AC OFF DUE TO HIGHT ENGINE TEMP". WHILE DRIVING CAR SHUT DOWN AND WOULDN'T START SAYING "SERVICE STABILI TRACK" TOOK TO MECHANIC AND THEY SAID I NEED A NEW WATER PUMP AND HEAD GASKET. MIND YOU HEAT STOPPED WORKING AS WELL AGAIN. THEY CONFIRMED THERE WAS NO ANTIFREEZE BECAUSE ITS LEAKING. NOW THANK GOODNESS I WAS JUST GETTING HOME, COULD BARELY GET INTO THE DRIVEWAY BECAUSE NOW I'M GETTING A NOTIFICATION "SERVICE POWER STEERING". FROM EVERYTHING I'VE READ THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS DUE TO ALL OF THESE ISSUES BUT MY VIN ISN'T LISTED. I STILL OWE ALMOST 5000.00 ON THIS CRAPPY CAR AND I'M COMPLETELY OVER IT... WORST CAR EVER

MY SON WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD LAST WEEK AND DASH FLASHED STABILINK AND HE LOST ALL POWER AND FORCES HIM TO TRY TO PULL OVER WHICH HE COULD BECAUSE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND BRAKES GOT HARD TO PUSH. A WEEK LATER STABILINK FLASHED AGAIN AND THEN WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD HE HAD TO SLAM ON BRAKES FOR A STOPPED VEHICLE AND BRAKES WOULD WORK AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AGAIN RESULTING IN HIM REAR ENDING THE VEHICLE.

WHILE DRIVING IN THE CITY AT NIGHT, THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF, INCLUDING THE ENGINE AND ALL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS WITHOUT ANY WARNINGS. THIS CAUSED ALL LIGHTS TO TURN OFF, LOSS OF POWER STEERING, POWER TO BRAKES, AND LITTLE TO CONTROL TO THE VEHICLE. LUCKILY, THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME NOTICED AND TAILED ME TO A STOP WITH THEIR WARNING LIGHTS. I THEN PROCEEDED TO OPEN THE ENGINE WITH A FLASHLIGHT TO DISCOVER THAT THE BATTERY WAS STILL PROPERLY CONNECTED (6 MONTHS OLD) WITH NO FRAYS OR CORROSION TO THE CONNECTORS OR WIRING. AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES ATTEMPTING TO FIND A TOW TRUCK COMPANY THE VEHICLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM CAME BACK ON WITH NO INTERVENTION. I TURNED THE IGNITION SWITCH AND THE VEHICLE STARTED WITH NO ISSUES AND NO ENGINE LIGHTS ON. I DROVE IT THE REST OF THE WAY HOME WITH NO ISSUES. WHEN I GOT HOME I CHECKED ALL THE FUSES AND ALL WERE OPERABLE. THE OBD SCANNER FOUND NO CODES. I AM MID 30S 190IBS AND FAIRLY STRONG, I COULD ONLY IMAGINE IF THIS HAPPENED IN AN INTERSECTION OR DURING BUSY HOURS ON THE HIGHWAY, I WOULDN'T BE SITTING HERE REPORTING THIS ISSUE. I FOUND NUMEROUS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON BLOGS CONCERNING THIS MODEL. I ASSUME NOT MANY HAVE REPORTED PROPERLY SINCE THERE IS NO RECALL ISSUED FOR THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.

2012 CRUZE LT. THE THIRD TURBO WAS INSTALLED 2 DAYS BEFORE EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED. IT HAS 56668 MILES NOW. I SPENT 4 HOURS PUTTING GLUE PUTTY IN THE CRACKS ON THE BOTTOM INTAKE MANIFOLD, TO PLENUM JUNCTION CORNERS OF CYLINDERS 2 AND 4 BECAUSE OF THE GM PLASTIC [XXX], CURING THE LOW BOOST AND LEAN MIXTURE CODES AT IDLE, ON EASTER. THE FIRST MONTH I HAD THE CAR THE TRANSMISSION WOULD START IN FIRST SKIP SECOND GEAR REV UP THEN CHIRP THE TIRES UNTIL IT WARMED UP, AND WAS FIXED BY A PROGRAM CHANGE TO A LESSER VERSION AND NOW AT THE HIGHER MILEAGE IT WAITS BEFORE IT ENGAGES FIRST AT ALL. ANOTHER NEAT THING IS TO TURN LEFT AT 5MPH HARD AND FEEL THE CAR DO A JIG TO THE RIGHT FOR AN INSTANT BEFORE CONTINUING ON WITH THE TURN. LASTLY, THE WATER PUMP WAS REPLACED ALONG WITH A CRACKED WATER OUTLET BUT NOT THE ROTTED RECIRCULATION OVERFLOW HOSE THAT BROKE AT 4 AM TO MY FISHING HOLE IN SEPTEMBER. I CAN SAY THAT THE 2017 CRUZE MUST BE BETTER BECAUSE THE DUMDUMS PAID BY THE GM INSURANCE COMPANY TO CHANGE OIL PUT MORE NEW OIL IN THE MOTOR WITHOUT DRAINING IT FIRST. NO SERIOUS ISSUES FOR A WHOLE WEEK I MIGHT BE ABLE TO DRIVE IT BY MAY IT'S BEEN 5 MONTHS SINCE THEN. FYI THE DEALERSHIP WHO PERFORMED THIS FANCY WORK IS NOT IN RIVERTON EITHER.

HELLO, MY 2012 CHEVY CRUZE LTZ'S KEY FOB ISN'T BEING DETECTED BY MY VEHICLE. I'VE LOOKED IT UP AND ASKED AROUND AND EITHER NOBODY'S HEARD OF THE ISSUE OR DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO OTHER THAN TAKE IT TO A MECHANIC. THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME, BUT IT'S PAINSTAKING WHEN I CAN'T EVEN USE THE KEY FOB ONE MINUTE AND THEN THE NEXT IT WORKS FINE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN STATIONARY SINCE THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURED.

WHILE BREAKING, USING THE BLINKER, TURNING, OR JUST DRIVING THE CAR WILL LOOSE POWER, SLOW THE CAR DOWN, THE RADIO LOOSES POWER, AND MY SERVICE STABLITKY TRACK, SERVICE POWER STEERING, ALONG WITH TRACTION CONTROL, ANTI-BREAKING LIGHTS, AND A FEW OTHER LIGHT WILL ALL COME BACK ON. IT WILL DO THIS RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING, IT SEEMS TO DO IT MORE FREQUENTLY WHEN COMING TO A STOP OR ACCELERATING. I HAD THIS SERVICED BACK IN FEBRUARY OF 2017 AND THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME I HAD ACID FROM MY BATTERY LEAKING INTO THE POSITIVE CABLE, SO I HAD ALL THE BATTERY AND BATTERY WIRES REPLACED. THIS TOOK CARE OF THE PROBLEM UNTIL A FEW WEEKS AGO. THIS IS HAPPENING MORE AND MORE OFTEN AND THE PROBLEM IS BECOMING WORSE. THIS IS A PERSISTENT PROBLEM WITH THE CHEVY CRUZES FROM THE RESEARCH I HAVE DONE AND CHEVY SEEMS TO BE DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT.

ON ANOTHER OCCASION, I WAS ABOUT TO PARK AND THE CAR TURNED OFF ON ME; THE KEY WAS LOCKED INTO THE IGNITION AND I COULDN'T TURN IT, THE DOORS LOCKED AND NOTHING WORKED. I WAS STUCK INSIDE UNTIL AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES, THE CAR UNLOCKED EVERYTHING AND THE ECU TURNED BACK ON. I'VE HAD TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE FOR THIS PROBLEM AND THEY HAVE TOLD ME IT'S COVERED UNDER A "SPECIAL SERVICE" BUT THESE INCIDENTS HAPPENED ALMOST A YEAR APART. I DO NOT BELIEVE THE CAR IS FIXED. ALSO, THE SERVICE STABILITRAK AND OTHER LIGHTS FLASH ON AND OFF AND SO DO MY RADIO.

IT IS A P0597 CODE STATING TEMP SENSOR IS INOPERABLE. NON OF THESE ISSUES SHOULD BE GOING ON IN A 2012 WITH LESS THAN 45,000 MILES ON IT.

I SOON RECEIVED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE CABLE FROM GM FOR 10 YRS OR 120000 MILES. SO THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND CARS CUTTING OUT AND LOSING POWER ON THE HIGHWAY IS NOT CONSIDERED DANGEROUS TO THE DRIVERS OR THEIR PASSENGERS.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AND THE STEERING LOCKED UP AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. I PULLED ONTO THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE, PUT MY HAZARDS ON AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. AFTER CALLING FOR ASSISTANCE I WAS TOLD I COULD DRIVE TO THE NEAREST AUTO REPAIR. I TURNED THE CAR ON AND DRIVING WAS LIKE PUSHING THE CAR DOWN THE ROAD AND STEERING WAS DANGEROUSLY DIFFICULT. I GOT TO THE REPAIR SHOP TURNED OFF THE CAR ASKED FOR ASSISTANCE. WHEN MECHANIC TURNED THE CAR ON LIGHT WAS OFF AND POWER STEERING HAD BEEN RESTORED. HE COULD NOT EXPLAIN THE GLITCH THAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM AND SUGGESTED I CONTACT MY DEALERSHIP.

SINCE MARCH 2015, I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH AND I HAVE VIDEO EVIDENCE WHILE IN FAILURE MODE, OF WHAT I BELIEVE TO BE FAILURES OF THE BODY COMPUTER(S) IN THIS VEHICLE. THE DASHBOARD DISPLAYS HAVE BEEN GOING ON AND OFF UNDER A WIDE VARIETY OF DRIVING SITUATIONS, AND WHILE SITTING AT IDLE. THEY FAULT WHEN THE VEHICLE IS SIMPLY DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. MORE OFTEN I NOTICE IT WHEN UTILIZING TURN SIGNALS, HAZARD LIGHTS, AND BREAKING. DURING THESE FAULTS, THE CENTER INFORMATION DISPLAY FOR THE HVAC AND ENTERTAINMENT WILL FREQUENTLY TURN OFF. THIS KILLS THE RADIO. IT AT TIMES KILLS THE HVAC SYSTEMS AND THE TURN SIGNALS (AT LEAST THE NOISE FOR THE TURN SIGNAL INDICATORS). AT TIMES, THE CENTER DISPLAY ABOVE THE STEERING COLUMN WILL GO BLACK AND THEN DISPLAY A MESSAGE ABOUT THE STABILITRAK HAVING FAILED AND REQUIRING IT TO BE CHECKED OR THE ABS NEEDING TO BE SERVICED. THEN IT RETURNS TO NORMAL MODE. THE FREQUENCY HAS INCREASED TO EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE VEHICLE. ALSO ON AT LEAST 3 OCCASIONS THE ABS HAS ACTUALLY FAILED. ON ONE OF THOSE OCCASIONS, I HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE WHILE PARKING. THANKFULLY THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO EITHER VEHICLE. WHEN CONNECTING THE VEHICLE TO A DIAGNOSTIC DEVICE, NO ISSUES ARE INDICATED. I'M IN THE MILITARY IN GERMANY WHERE THE ROADS AND HIGHWAYS ARE EXTREMELY HILLY AND IT SNOWS HEAVILY. I'D RATHER NOT DIE IN AN ACCIDENT BEFORE THIS ISSUE IS RECTIFIED.

I RECEIVED MY CHEVY CRUZE IN NOVEMBER OF 2014 USED WITH APROX. 59K MILES. APRIL 7TH DRIVING DOWN A HIGHWAY AT 55-60MPH IT SUDDENLY STARTED SLOWING DOWN AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. IT WOULD JERK AND THE ENGINE WOULD REV LIKE IF YOU WERE TO BE IDLE AND IN PARK AND PRESS THE GAS THAT'S THE SOUND IT MADE. I DID NOT NOTICE THE CHECK ENGINE COME ON OR ANY OTHER LIGHTS AS I WAS TRYING TO CONTROL MY CAR. THE SPEEDOMETER AND RPM INDICATOR STARTED ACTING ERRATICALLY WHILE DOING SO. THE GAUGE WOULD GO UP AND DOWN AND THE CAR WAS SLOWING DOWN. THE STEERING ALSO BECAME VERY SOFT. IF I WERE TO TAKE MY PINKY FINGER AND TURN THE WHEEL IT WOULD HAVE MOVED THAT'S HOW SOFT IT WAS. ALL THIS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES DURING A 30 MINUTE TIME PERIOD. AFTER I SLOWED DOWN AND TRIED GOING OVER 30MPH IT WOULD START TO ACT UP AGAIN. WHILE THIS WAS HAPPENED I ONLY HAD 66K MILES. I GOT IT TOWED TO THE DEALER INSTEAD OF TAKING MY CHANCES DRIVING IT THERE. IT WAS SITTING THERE A WEEK BEFORE THEY EVEN TOUCHED IT AND THEY CLAIM THEY CANT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. I RECEIVED THE LETTER THAT CHEVROLET WAS DOING A SPECIAL COVERAGE WARRANTY EXTENSION FOR THE PROBLEM, YET MY DEALERSHIP CANNOT REPRODUCE THE ISSUE AND WILL NOT FIX IT. I FEEL THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. A PART DEFECT IN THE STEERING SYSTEM LIKE THIS SHOULD BE FIXED WITH A RECALL, FIXING EVERY VEHICLE. "SERVICE STABILITRAK QUICKLY FLASHED NEXT ALL WHILE I LOST BLINKERS, POWER STEERING, AND RADIO. I PARKED, TURNED MY CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND IT WAS JUST FINE. IT HAS BEEN TO THE CHEVY DEALER ONCE BUT THEY COULD NOT GET A CODE TO READ BECAUSE THEY CAN'T GET THE RADIO TO FLICKER, ETC BECAUSE IT ONLY HAPPENS EVERY SO OFTEN BUT WHEN IT DOES HAPPEN IT IS SCARY! I GOT MY CAR IN MARCH & ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! FOR THE FIRST FEW MONTHS I HAD NO PROBLEMS. AT THAT POINT THE CAR REEKED OF BURNING CERAMIC AND THE POWER STEERING LOCKED UP COMPLETELY. AFTER RESTING IT FOR A FEW MINUTES AND RESTATING THE CAR, IT REENGAGED. CONTACTED DEALER AND WAS ADVISED TO GO TO LOCAL CHEVY DEALER FOR ASSESSMENT. CHEVY DEALER ADVISED THAT THE POWER STEERING MODULE WAS READING THAT IT WAS OUT OF CENTER AND DISENGAGING. WAS ALSO ADVISED THAT A PART OF THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY HAD BEEN REPLACED A FEW THOUSAND MILES PREVIOUSLY AND SEEMED TO BE RUBBING INCORRECTLY. KNOX FORD ADVISED ME TO RETURN THE CAR TO THEIR DEALERSHIP (120 MILES AWAY) AND THEY WOULD WORK ON THE CAR. UPON LEAVING THE OTHER DEALERSHIP, THE POWER STEERING LOCKED UP AGAIN AND DIDN'T REENGAGE. DROVE THE CAR 120 MILES WITHOUT POWER STEERING AND RETURNED TO KNOX FORD TO HAVE THEM TAKE TO TO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP. THE POWER STEERING MODULE WAS REPLACED AND THE CAR ALIGNED. DECEMBER 2013 -- THE RADIO AND DASH BOARD LIGHTS (SERVICE STABILITRAK) HAVE BEEN FLASHING ON AND OFF THEN THIS EVENING WHILE DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT ROAD, THE "SERVICE POWER STEERING" LIGHT FLASHED ON AND MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. THAT CONTINUED FOR APPROX. 2 MINUTES THEN STARTED WORKING CORRECTLY. WHEN I GOT HOME AND PULLED INTO MY PARKING SPOT AND TURNED MY CAR OFF EVERYTHING TURNED OFF, INCLUDING MY INTERIOR LIGHTS AND I COULDN'T REMOVE MY KEY FROM THE IGNITION. I LET IT SIT FOR APPROX. 5 MINUTES THEN TRIED TO START THE CAR AND IT DID TURN ON SO I TURNED IT OFF AGAIN AND I WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY. FEBRUARY 2014 -- THE SAME THINGS ARE HAPPENING AND THE POWER STEERING TURNS OFF AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP MAY 2014 -- POWER STEERING TURNS OFF AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP; BATTERY COMPLETELY DIES RANDOMLY; NEW DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THE BATTERY CABLES NEED TO BE REPLACED; HOWEVER, OTHER CRUZE OWNERS WHO HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE SAME ISSUES AND HAD THEIR BATTERY CABLE REPLACED REPORT THAT THIS DOES NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. *TR

RADIO STARTS TURNING ON AND OFF,STABILITY CONTROL LIGHTS FLASH,POWER STEERING GETS HARD TO TURN.THIS IS THE THIRD TIME WE BROUGHT IT TO THE SHOP.ITS GOOD FOR A WEEK OR SO AND DOES THE SAMETHING AGAIN. THEY CLAIM THIS IS THE ONLY CRUZE THEY EVER HEARD OF DOING THIS.I DON'T THINK SO NOT ACCORDING TO YOUR WEB SITE SOMEBODY KNOWS THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM. WHY DO DEALER SHIPS THINK LYING IS THE WAY TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM, I MEAN IT JUST COME OUT AND SAY YA YOUR DAUGHTERS CAR IS NOT THE ONLY 2012 CRUZE WITH THIS PROBLEM! MY PATIENCE ARE GETTING A LITTLE THIN. CAR WAS BOUGHT WITH 20000 MILES ON IT BY MY OLDEST DAUGHTER WHO IS 20 YRS OLD AND PUTTING HERSELF TROUGH COLLEGE TO BECOME A NURSE. OUR 2012 CHEVY CRUZE STARTED WITH THE RADIO TURNING "OFF" AND "ON" ON ITS OWN THE MONTH AFTER WE BOUGHT THE CAR. A MONTH LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN AS WELL AS LEFT MY WIFE STRANDED AT A STORE. CAR DIDN'T WANT TO TURN ON. I FIGURED IT MAY HAVE BEEN A BAD BATTERY. BEFORE I COULD EVEN "JUMP" THE VEHICLE, THE CAR GOT ALL POWER BACK ON WITH NO PROBLEM. THE 3RD TIME RADIO TURNED OFF AND ON ITS OWN AND THEN SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY WITH NO POWER TO VEHICLE AT THE SAME STORE NEAR MY WIFE'S WORK. I NOTICED NOTHING ELECTRICAL WORKED IN THE CAR, LIKE HAZARD LIGHTS, BRAKE LIGHTS, AND ANYTHING THAT SHOULD HAVE 12 VOLT CONSTANT POWER. I NOW CARRY A MULTIMETER IN THE CAR. ON A 400 MILE DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY I EXPERIENCE THE RADIO ISSUE AS WELL AS "STABILITRAC", AND MANY OTHER MALFUNCTION LIGHTS DISPLAYING ON AND OFF ON MY DASH WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH. I EVEN RECORDED THIS WHILE DRIVING. MY FAMILY AND I WERE ON VACATION AND WHILE DRIVING I LOST POWER STEERING THEN THE CAR SHUT DOWN AND LEFT US STRANDED WITH NO POWER AGAIN. WAIT ABOUT 10 TO 15 MINUTES, THE CAR WILL RETURN BACK TO NORMAL LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED. TOOK IT STRAIGHT TO THE DEALER RIGHT AT THAT MOMENT AND THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEMS. RETURNED HOME FROM VACATION AND IT ALL HAPPENED AGAIN IN TRAFFIC WHILE DRIVING. MY WIFE AND KIDS WERE IN THE CAR. I CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK AND TOWED IT TO THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP IN TOWN. I LEFT IT WITH THEM FOR 4 DAYS AND THEY STILL COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. THIS CAR STILL CONTINUES TO TURN OFF TO THIS DAY AND I'VE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR 6 MONTH NOW. I WON'T LET MY FAMILY IN THIS CAR. I HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED THE DOOR LOCKS, LOCK AND UNLOCK ON ITS OWN AND THE WIPERS ACTIVATED ON THERE OWN. NOT SURE WHETHER IT COULD BE A BAD ECU, BCM, ELECTRICAL HARNESS, FUSE BOXES. THE ECU WAS REPROGRAMMED AT THE 2000 MILES FOR AN UNKNOWN REASON. WISH I HAD BOUGHT A DIFFERENT CAR INSTEAD OF THIS LEMON. *TR

AS I DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD MY STABILITY TRAK LIGHT COMES ON AND MY RADIO TURNS ON AND OFF. NOW MY POWER STEERING GOES OUT AND MY CAR WON'T ALWAYS START. I'VE TAKEN IT IN 3 TIMES TO HAVE THESE ISSUES FIXED AND NOBODY CAN SEEM TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG. I'VE BEEN LEFT STRANDED WITH MY 3 YEAR OLD SON BECAUSE MY CAR WONT START. I WAS SITTING AT A STOPLIGHT TO TURN LEFT. AFTER THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE GAS PEDAL AND NOTICED A SLIGHT LOSS OF POWER. AS I PROCEEDED THROUGH THE TURN I HAD DIFFICULTY TURNING AS THOUGH I HAD NO POWER STEERING. ONCE THROUGH THE TURN I STILL HAS NO POWER STEERING AND NOTED A MESSAGE ON THE DASH READING "SERVICE STEERING". I CONTROLLED THE CAR TO THE NEXT STOPLIGHT WHICH WAS APPROXIMATELY 1/2 MILE DURING WHICH TIME I STILL HAD NO POWER STEERING. AT THE STOP LIGHT I TURNED THE CAR OFF, AND STARTED IT AGAIN. AFTER RESTARTING THE CAR I HAD NO MORE PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING. PRIOR TO THIS INSTANCE AND MULTIPLE TIMES FOLLOWING I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILING. IT USUALLY BEGINS WITH THE RADIO BOARD "BLINKING" OFF. BY BLINKING I MEAN THAT THE RADIO COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF AND THE RADIO DASH LIGHTS BLINK OFF AND ON UNTIL IT FINALLY RETURNS TO FULL POWER. BUT USUALLY ITS NOT A ONE TIME THING. THERE ARE TIMES WHERE THIS OCCURS EVERY 5 SECONDS UNTIL I'M ABLE TO PULL THE CAR OVER AND TURN IT OFF. WHILE THIS OCCURS I WILL GET A MESSAGE ON MY DASH CLUSTER SAYING TO "SERVICE STABILITRAC" ALONG WITH SEVERAL OTHER CLUSTER LIGHTS THAT BLINK. I HAVE TAKEN THIS CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO REPRODUCE WHAT I'VE EXPERIENCED, AND SUCH THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIX ANYTHING. THIS FIRST BEGAN WHILE THE CAR WAS UNDER BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY, BUT THAT HAS SINCE PASSED AND IF THEY WERE ABLE TO ACTUALLY FIX ANYTHING I WOULD BE STUCK WITH THE BILL. *TT

WHILE DRIVING ALL THE LIGHTS ARE COMING ON, THE DASHBOARD. THE BRAKE LIGHTS, SERVICE STABILITRAK LIGHT, AND THE ABS LIGHT AND THE RADIO BLINKS ON AND OFF AND THEN SOMETIMES THE RADIO STAYS OFF FOR SEVERAL MINUTES. I HAD TAKEN THE CARE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM TO CHECK IT AND THEY ADVISED ME IT WAS MY THERMOSTAT CAUSING THE ISSUE. THEY REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT WHICH WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND THE DEALERSHIP SAID EVERYTHING WAS OK TO GO. A WEEK LATER THE ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD CAME BACK ON AGAIN I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ADVISED ME THEY DIDN'T SEE ANY CODES READING THAT THERE WAS AND ISSUE. I SHOWED THEM THE PICTURES AND THE VIDEO THAT I CAPTURED WHILE THE CAR WAS DOING IT AND THEY ADVISED ME I HAD A ELECTRICAL PROBLEM BUT THEY CAN'T FIND IT. THE PROBLEM IS STILL AN ISSUE AND ITS STILL DOING THE SAME THING. *TR

I PURCHASED A USED CHEVY CRUZE, PREVIOUS RENTAL, FROM THE CHEVY DEALER ABOUT A MONTH AGO. WITHIN THE PAST WEEK I BEGAN TO HAVE INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL ISSUES, WHICH STARTED WITH THE RADIO PANEL LIGHT FLASHING ON AND OFF AND THE RADIO WOULD ALSO TURN OFF FOR SEVERAL MINS AT A TIME. TODAY THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS PROGRESSED GREATLY, IMPACTING THE POWER STEALING AND I LOST POWER STEERING COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING. IN ADDITION, MULTIPLE WARNING SIGNALS BEGAN TO FLASH: POWER STEERING, STABILINK, BRAKES AND SECURITY TRACTION CONTROL. THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING, THANKFULLY I WAS GOING AT A VERY LOW SPEED OTHERWISE THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A POTENTIAL SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS SITUATION AS I BRIEFLY LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR AND ALMOST CRASHED AT 10MPH (OR LESS.) THANKFULLY I WAS ALREADY ON MY WAY TO THE DEALER (1 MILES AWAY) FOR AN APPOINTMENT FOR SERVICING THAT I HAD PREVIOUSLY SCHEDULED DUE TO THIS ISSUE. ONCE I GOT TO THE DEALER THEY WERE ABLE TO SEE THE ISSUES FIRST HAND. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND THEN THIS CAR COMPLETELY DIED. I LEFT THE CAR AT THE DEALER AND HOPE THIS ISSUE IS RESOLVED AND THE CAR IS SAFE TO DRIVE. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER AND DEALER PUT APPROX. 100 MORE MILES ON VEHICLE AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM. DEALER CHECKED ALIGNMENT AND IT WAS WITHIN SPECIFICATIONS. HAVE RESEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND VEHICLES WITH JTEKT EPS SYSTEM HAVING SIMILAR STEERING ANOMALIES. CONCERNED THAT STEERING INPUT NOT CONTROLLED BY DRIVER CAN CAUSE VEHICLE ACCIDENT AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THE CENTER INFORMATION CENTER WITH THE RADIO BEGAN SHUTTING ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING. WHEN THE DISPLAY & RADIO SHUTS OFF, EVEN THE BLINKER WOULDN'T MAKE A SOUND. SOMETIMES DURING THIS A NOTIFICATION WOULD COME UP "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" AND/OR "SERVICE STABILITRACK." I TRIED TROUBLESHOOTING IT MYSELF FOR A FEW DAYS. SOMETIMES THE BLINKER, SEAT WARMER, OR EVEN PLUGGING IN MY PHONE TO THE USB PORT SEEMED TO TRIGGER IT. I NOTICED THE VOLTAGE FLUCTUATING FROM 12.9 - 15.2V WHILE DRIVING OR AT A STOP. THE DAY THAT I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR, ALL THE NOTIFICATION LIGHTS BEGAN TO BLINK AND THEN THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT DURING A LEFT TURN. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED BOTH BATTERY CABLES AND MENTIONED THAT THEY'VE HAD MANY OF THESE CARS IN WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. THE ISSUE APPEARED TO BE RESOLVED AND THE CAR WAS RUNNING GREAT, UNTIL YESTERDAY 1/15/14. EVERYTHING MENTIONED ABOVE, EXCEPT FOR THE POWER STEERING LOSS, IS HAPPENING AGAIN. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, WHEN TRYING TO MAKE A SLIGHT STEERING CORRECTION, THE STEERING WHEEL SEEMS TO STICK AND IT TAKES EXTRA EFFORT MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL. THAT EXTRA EFFORT SUDDENLY MOVES THE STEERING WHEEL BECAUSE THE POWER STEERING SEEMS TO RETURN AND THIS CAUSES THE CAR TO MOVE AS THOUGH THE DRIVER IS JERKING THE STEERING WHEEL. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO HOLD A STEADY, SMOOTH TRACK AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE STEERING CAN ALSO EXHIBIT THIS SAME TYPE OF STICKING WHILE SITTING STATIONARY BUT THIS DOESN NOT CAUSE A DANGEROUS SITUATION. THOUGH IT DOES NOT DO THIS ALL OF THE TIME, IT IS EASY TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE LONG ENOUGH TO START THIS ERRATIC STEERING ISSUE. THE DEALER HAS STATED THAT THE GM SERVICE REP HAS NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A PROBLEM AND THEY HAVE NO TSB'S OR RECALLS IN EFFECT SO THEY CAN DO NOTHING. THIS IS THE SAME METHOD OF IGNORING THE PROBLEM THAT GM USED IN DEALING WITH THE BRAKE BOOSTER MICRO SWITCH ISSUE. NEVER HEARD OF THAT PROBLEM EITHER, EVEN THOUGH MANY PEOPLE HAD COMPLAINED OF THE SAME THING ON A CHEVY FORUM AND NUMEROUS WRECKS HAD OCCURRED. THE RADIO AND DASH BOARD LIGHTS (SERVICE STABILITRAK) HAVE BEEN FLASHING ON AND OFF THEN THIS EVENING WHILE DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT ROAD, THE "SERVICE POWER STEERING" LIGHT FLASHED ON AND MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM TWO MONTHS AGO (USED, WITH 38K MILES) TOLD ME THAT THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY BUT WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER THE BUMPER-TO-BUMPER WARRANTY (EXPIRED BEFORE I BOUGHT THE CAR). WHEN THIS HAPPENED, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY HARD TO STEER (ALMOST LOCKED UP) AND I CERTAINLY COULD NOT MAKE A RIGHT OR LEFT TURN.
