My car over heats at least over 300 degrees. Afraid that my vehicle is In danger of catching fire due to the high temperature causing tension belt and hose components to melt.
I’ve had the thermostat housing fail twice now. And now it leaking again for the third time!! Now the service stabilitrak light is on, but it only happens when the car is idling. This happened to me before while driving and I replaced the spark plugs and the coil pack. I know on other models the valve cover failed as well but I don’t see a recall on that, or the thermostat housing issues…. I just don’t get whyyyyy if people are having all the same issues why not recall it!!???
This is the second time that we have experienced over heating issues. Currently the car has been out of commission for over a year and half. Every since we purchased the car used it has over heated. The first time of course the head gasket was blown. We paid $1200 to have it fixed. Still ran hot we replaced the water pump. After a year same issues. Car has been parked as we do not have the money to repair it. I have read about 6 pages of the same complaint. I do believe that it is time for GM to issue a recall. We are currently making payments on a car that we are unable to drive. We have spent almost as much as we paid for the car. Again this is not good. Seems like this car was doomed from the start.

for some strange reason the engine has 150K miles on it and has been extremely well maintained however there is oil blowby coming from the oil filler cap which coats the entire engine belts will slip and cause drivability issues this oil vapor can also coat the front wheel brake discs and soak the pads causing braking failure to occur GM said they are aware of this problem however they do not have a recall to replace the engine or causing issue with the vehicle and i would be better off buying a new GM vehicle rather then worry about this insignificant issue since no accidents have occurred I Maintain my vehicles to the gills something like this is very concerning since this is my wifes car and out child travels in this car what can the NHTSA do to make GM correct this issue on this chevy cruze?

I am writing to express my concern regarding a serious issue with my 2013 Chevrolet Cruze. Recently, I noticed that my car's engine was overheating, which I initially thought was due to a problem with the coolant or radiator. However, on [XXX], my vehicle suddenly broke down while I was driving on the highway. I had my car towed to a mechanic, who informed me that this particular model of the Chevrolet Cruze, specifically from the years 2011-2015, is known to have severe engine overheating problems. The mechanic also mentioned that in cases like mine, the engine is often seized and sent to the junkyard. After researching further and reading through numerous online reviews from other Cruze owners, I discovered that engine overheating is a common and recurring issue for many of them. The engine in my 2013 chevy cruze failed due to the head gasket, and it causes the car to overheat. Chevrolet issued a recall on some 2013 and 2014 Cruze models for head gasket problems. The gasket in these models is known to fail and that can completely destroy the motor. When a head gasket fails that allows the oil and the coolant to mix; and that will destroy the lubrication in your engine and cause the engine to fail. Pepboys repair shop-- has the repair invoice.
I own 3 Chevy Cruze, a 2012, 2013 and 2016. They all partial power down or decelerate while driving. The local Chevy dealers has no recalls for this issue or any other for that matter. Please advise

2013 chevy cruze has so many coolant leaks coming from different locations. This vehicle should be on recall for this major problem. It is basically a lemon but doesn't quite meet requirements for lemon. So close though
There is a leak that is causing the coolant reservoir tank to empty every couple of days. It appears that the coolant fumes are going inside the car. It has been taken to the repair shop on several occasions and has had the coolant reservoir replaced. However, the problems persists and the coolant fumes are making me ill from inhaling them. The car was taking in to a Chevrolet dealer December 2023 for an oil change and the service technician stated my car was “fine”. I asked about any possible leaks as I have observed spots in my parking spot. He assured me there were no problems with my car, but I persisted. He printed the service log and he determined the staff who completed the oil change had in fact noticed a leak, but the guy at the desk assured me there was not a problem. A few weeks have gone by and coolant continues to leak and the fumes are getting inside the cabin of the car. They are most noticeable when use the heater or the AC and the fumes can also be observed when I exit the car.
Vehicle, when parked in garage with key in the ignition, will start all by itself. There have been several times in the past when I could hear the car attempt to start itself unsuccessfully in the garage as well. I run down to remove the key from the ignition when this happens. Idling engine in an enclosed garage can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning to home owner and occupants. Removing key from ignition when parked alleviates problem however this has happened several times now both in and out of garage. One owner vehicle since new, no other keys or objects on key ring/fob when this has happened. Vehicle has 75k miles. Problem began at around 70k miles. Car has been garaged and well cared-for it’s entire life.
Traction control warning pops up and steering stops, even while driving. Motor shuts down and smells like fuel in water res.
Recall Bulletin: 14371B; water pump leaked causing a crack in the coolant reservoir, The dealership in charge of repair stated that the leak caused permanent engine damage and was now undrivable and needed a new engine. Coolant (anti-freeze) is very hazardous to your health and a coolant leak can cause your engine to overheat and cause damage to your vehicle (including reduced power to your engine). No, the temperature gauge remained at a neutral to cool temp at all times, despite the dealership claiming that the engine was running hot and therefore causing the damage (engine damage = unable to retain pressure).
The car overheated in the Spring of 2023 and was towed to a repair shop. The shop determined the thermostat went bad. It was replaced. The car broke down on the interstate on October 1 and had to be towed again. The shop determined the head gasket had blown due to coolant and oil mixed in cylinders. They advised the head gasket could be sent to a machine shop to repair (at a cost of $3k), but no guarantee it won't happen again due to the history of the 2013 Chevy Cruze engines. The recommended replacing the engine instead at a cost of $6,000.
The Water pump failed causing my car to almost stall out and overheating losing power and almost causing me to get hit

Was driving engine started to rattle, smoke out the tail pipe, check engine came on with a code that reports a rattle, with loss of engine power in the middle of the road nearly causing an accident. Mechanic reported internal engine failure. Oil and timing belt was change recently at direction of the maintenance schedule.
My car constantly has coolant and oil leaks, a/c getting clogged , car is stalling while I drive if shutz off when I drive in stop and go traffic and will roll backwards if on a hill . Car constantly overheats. Turbo keep going out as well . Car currently isn’t running
I was on my way home, its a 15 minute drive, I was about 5 minutes from home, I was on 279 North doing 50 mph, no warning at all the gas pedal started to lock, then the brakes and steering wheel. Next thing I sern was a flame out of my exhaust and smoke under my hood. I thought the car was going to burn up. No check engine light came on, no warning lights, NOTHING, had to get it towed off the highway. My Car only has 50,000 miles on it. This happened on the highway, luckily it was around 11pm and not ti busy, & could of been deadly. My engine blew the pistons out of it from what Im told! Safety Hazard!
This car has had many heating/cooling issues. Coolant leaks is a constant. From having vacuum leaks to thermostat housing issues. Constantly having to add coolant. I've read this is a common issue with Sonics and Cruzes. Our other car is a Sonic with the same issued. We always have a certified mechanic do the repair but same thing happens. Help!
At approximately 144,000 miles my cruze began overheating. I already replaced the thermostat at 100k upgrading to metal housing. I took my cruze back to the dealership where I bought it to have it repaired and after spending 1400 on repairs, I continued to get a warning light coming on stating ac off due to high engine temp, but the engine is not over heating! As soon as I turn the car over the message comes on. There is no way it’s overheating when it has been sitting for over 12 hours! I have had multiple houses replaced, the coolant resivoir, etc. I keep taking it to the shop for them to tell me the same thing that there is nothing wrong. After replacing a sensor the message disappeared and this lasted about 3 weeks but it has now returned. I have taken AMAZING care of this car. I have always changed the oil exactly when I was supposed to and I have always been good to it. I see that there are other recalls for Chevy Cruze same year model and I strongly suggest that mine should be included!! Please help!! I cannot afford any more trips to the shop and I certainly can’t afford another car right now!
Thermostat keeps alerting me that it's overheating, while constantly guzzling anti-freeze and water. There's no obvious leak, completely dry under the car. The car will shut its self off.

The contact stated that soon after she purchased the vehicle while driving at an undisclosed speed, she noticed a white cloud of smoke coming from the hood of the vehicle. Upon inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed smoke by the reservoir tank. The contact also noticed a leak coming from engine. The contact then stated that she noticed a burning odor throughout the vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated that anti-freeze leaked from two separate unknown parts of the hose and at the same time, there was a burning odor at the rear passenger’s side tire. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the rear passenger’s side brake failed and needed to be replaced. The rear passenger’s side brake was replaced however, the failure recurred three times. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, she heard a ticking sound in the engine. The check engine warning light intermittently illuminated. On a separate occasion, the contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the engine failed to turn over. The contact stated that another vehicle was able to jumpstart the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 127,830.

First incident. 4 hours into 8 hour road trip. Flashing check engine light. Stabilitrack failure. Misfire codes. Took it to 4 different shops in Las Vegas Nevada. Non would complete repair. Took it to dealer in Utah hour and 45 minutes away, jerking missfires loss of power and power steering, dealer offered to do repair for 1800$ :/. Repair completed. Drove 150 miles, codes popped back up to it into mechanic, reported coolant leak and misfires, replaced ign coil. Replaced spark plugs, fixed leaks. 1400$ 6 weeks later turbo seized, misfires shaking and in ability to drive faster than 35mph loss of power steering. Excessive coolant leak, repair 1170$ 3 weeks later misfire codes, loss of stabilitrack, and tc, replaced spark plugs, car is currently all over the road, pulls left then pulls right, car vibrates terribly when 55mph+ suspension in rear is almost completely defective, I can lift the car 3” with my bare hands… over active abs. 35mph no snow or ice, new brake pads 120 miles ago. Radio will turn on and off whenever it wants while driving. Car consistory idles between 750-1300* rpm. Car clearly has no sway bars. Horrible ticking and rattling noises. While driving the light came one engine overheating a/c shut off. There was a leak of coolant. I was stranded on the side of the road. We had it brought to a mechanic. They repaired the problem. Within 3 days it started again, the mechanic thought it was a faulty part so replaced it. After a week it happened again. We had it repaired again. Now 2 months later it is happening again. Once again stranded on the side of the road This has happened 4 times in 2 months and looks to be a very common issue with a simple search online. Multiple parts replaced and still stranded9
Cracks in the diaphragm may have developed in the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) pressure regulator valve . This has caused my engine to run rough , especially when idle and have the engine trouble code for the fuel trim lean (PO171) displayed . I’ve noticed this recall in other 2013 Chevrolet Cruze but there is none for my VIN.

Hi, I have had my car for a total of 8 years so far. It was bought used, in perfect condition in the beginning. Years passed and I have gained many problems down the road. First, the valve had to be replaced, spent a little under $1K, car worked well, until it started leaking coolant. Second, the car started to jerk back if you were passing at least 60mph. You go above 65-70, the car would jerk back to where it felt as if the whole bottom of the car fell off. You could press the gas pedal and it would barely go, it felt as if you were pushing the car with your own hands from the back, as if it lost power to move forward. Third, why does my coolant leak? Why is it that I have to put coolant in it at least every other week? The fan is EXTREMELY loud as well, as if it's overheating.
Since June 2021 have had this car in to the mechanic 7 times for engine coolant system. Each time it has been replace. Just 2 weeks ago it started to buck while driving. No matter what speed I am at. There are times where I am at a red light and it acts like it wants to stall out. When I proceed to go from a red light there are times where it takes a few seconds before it actually starts to go while the gas pedal is pressed.

The car overheated constantly and was taken to a mechanic everytime. Mechanic tried a few things and to no avail. Warped head replaced and it continued to do it. Replaced the entire motor and the second motor now wont even start after it overheated. We had many people look at it and no one could figure out what the problem was. With no warning my car started to overheat while traveling home from the Eden rest stop in NC two weeks ago. I have replaced my thermostat and radiator/overflow cap. I never had any warning to let me know that my car was starting to overheat. My check engine light never came on! And my car just shut off on me when leaving work this afternoon in the middle of 5 o’clock traffic on Eastchester Dr in High Point, NC. I noticed that I had no coolant and there was no sign of leaks anywhere!
MULTIPLE INCIDENTS OF OVERHEATING SPANNING OVER THE PERIOD OF A FEW YEARS NOW: WATER PUMP, COOLANT HOUSING, VALVE COVER GASKET, AND MOST RECENTLY TURBO CHARGER COOLANT LINES HAVE ALL BEEN REPLACED. HAVE NOT CONTACTED MANUFACTURER BECAUSE THE INFORMATION EVERYWHERE SAYS THERE ARE NO RECALLS FOR THIS OBVIOUSLY VERY COMMON PROBLEM! DOESN'T SEEM FAIR AT ALL. THIS ISSUE HAS LEFT ME STRANDED IN TRAFFIC, ON SIDE OF HIGHWAYS, HAVING TO CALL SOMEONE COUNTLESS TIMES, NOT TO MENTION THE REPAIR AND ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION FEES. Water pump, cooling system. There’s a recall on this system already but not for my vin. The service bulletin describes 100% off issues im having yes manufacture will not help because my vin isn’t attached to service bulletin. Car over heat constantly, I’ve pretty much replaced the entire cooling system twice now. Airbags also faulty. The entire passenger side of vehicle was hit by fedex truck not long after being rear-ended and an adjuster claiming car 95% totaled,( yet still ended up rebuilding it) no airbags deployed in both situations
Vehicle is consistently overheating and needing replacement parts to prevent overheating. Sept 2019 Chevy replaced the water outlet housing. June 2020 Chevy replaced the water pump because car was overheating Now the head gaskets are damaged and car is unuseable. Vehicle is consistently overheating every year and needed repairs. Vehicle does fit the criteria for 2013-2014 Chevy Cruze recall, however the car does not have a turbo engine.

Countless oil leaks - replaced the valve cover /gasket and solenoids and countless other parts to stop the oil leak when it was coming from the intake manifold PVC system - I even replaced the turbocharger.
The car keeps telling me it’s overheating but it is not and it’s leaking out antifreeze
After MANY repairs, kept my car WELL maintained. I've had MANY issues with the thermostats (replaced over 5 times) replaced sensors multiple times, replaced hoses and belts according to manufacturers recommendation. Replaced the valve cover. I now have a blown head gasket. I never drove my car without coolant, car had not overheated but the head gasket blew.
I bought this car approximately three months ago. It was a huge financial decision but one that had to be made for the safety of myself and my daughter. After doing much research there were no major mechanical recalls and the safety ratings were good so it seemed to be a reliable and safe choice. I was getting home one afternoon and when I put the car in park, smoke just started billowing out from under the hood. So I went to take a look and there was fluid leaked everywhere. At first I thought it was oil as I had just had my oil changed so I took it back to the mechanic for further inspection and he informed me it was the coolant outtake housing. He even said to me that they get so many cars like mine, Chevy Cruz’s, that come in with the same issue. I would also like to mention that when I bought the car it only had 62,000 miles and when this occurred it was at about 71,000. So I went online to do some research about the part and cost of labor and came across so many of the same complaints. There were even posts about this part on a discussion board on the GM website.
The vehicle keeps going to A/C off due to vehicle running hot. I've gone to the dealer and various shops had the water pump, hoses, outlet housing, thermostat replaced. I still smell coolant leaking and burning off when I open the hood I see the engine and catalytic converter wet and drying off as the wetness evaporates; the smell stays inside the car. The effects of smelling coolant has to be toxic, has any studies been done on long term effects of smelling coolant? I spend a minimum of 3 hours a day in traffic. The problem started around 100k. I also have oil leaking on right axel and somewhere on the engine. I've noticed the1.4l turbo has the same problems why are there recalls on the 1.4L but not the 1.8L? I'm paying out of pocket to get the same repairs done, if the vehicle is unsafe for the 1.4L it should be unsafe for the 1.8L
Check-engine light comes on and stays; after repairs, it keeps flashing. "Traction control" message comes on and stays on. The air conditioning system keeps warning to be turned off, and heats up the car when not turned off. The care drives and dies while driving. The transmission is not consistent, takes much more time to accelerate. Breaks and fan replaced after a year of purchased and about 1,500 dollars have just been spent in repairs and the car still gives a check-engine light, shaking and about to die. Presently not in use. The safety issues for me and my family are high. I recently had to drive it with safety lights on and below 25 miles/hr to and from the mechanic. I have taken the car before two mechanics and it is still not resolved. The car is available for inspection upon your recall.
Car is leaking oil and coolant. They are mixing and running into the engine.thermostat housing needs replaced.
TSB # 16-NA-015 ENGINE STALL OR STUMBLE,IGNITION COIL WIRE FRETTING.I CAN NOT FIGURE OUT WHY THIS IS NOT A SAFETY RECALL.OTHER THAN G.M. NOT INTERESTED IN BEING RESPONSIBLE. Loss of power when driving
Coolant keeps having leaks after going to dealership to replace it. It had the same problem and dealer said it’s not covered now have to pay 800 dollars for same issue 5 months later. Coolant system not working might blow engine. Happens randomly when driving to warning lights come up and a lot of smoke starts coming out of car.
The whole head shot off while driving. Now the car is making a farting noise when I accelerate or if u sit idle for longer than 15 mins. No oil leak but I’m using an additional $200 in oil between oil changes

WHICH ISN'T THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS CAME ON. WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT THE CAR FROM THE DEALERSHIP IT HAPPENED TWICE BEFORE AND WAS COVERED BY THE WARRANTY BUT NOW I'M SURPASSED THE WARRANTY AND JUST FEEL LIKE THIS SHOULDN'T BE AN ISSUE ONCE AGAIN.

JULY 2020 THE ISSUE KEPT OCCURRING AND I BEGAN HAVING TO PUT COOLANT IN THE VEHICLE EVERY FEW DAYS. TOOK TO ANOTHER SHOP WHO SAID IT WAS LEAKING FROM A HOSE - REPLACED HOSES. AUG 2020 - ISSUE CONTINUED AND THEN STOPPED HOLDING WATER ALL TOGETHER - HAD TO REPLACE WATER PUMP, REZ, THERMOSTAT, AND VARIOUS BELTS/HOSES - DROVE THE CAR FOR THREE DAYS WHEN THE MESSAGE POPPED UP AGAIN. TOOK IT BACK TO THE SHOP AND WAS TOLD THAT (DESPITE IT BEING 1 OWNER CAR) "SOMEONE" HAD PUT STOP LEAK IN IT AND IT MADE THE THERMOSTAT STICK. THEY FLUSHED THE ENGINE AND REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT AGAIN AND THE CAR DROVE FOR 1 WEEK BEFORE THE ISSUE KEPT OCCURRING. THIS TIME IT STARTED HAVING TROUBLE CRANKING AND CAUSED A BLOWN HEAD GASKET. SO NOW AFTER 8 MONTHS AND $3,500 I HAVE REPLACED EVERYTHING THAT COULD POSSIBLY MAKE IT OVERHEAT/HAVE A COOLANT ISSUE AND HAD THE ENTIRE ENGINE REBUILT - HOPEFULLY THIS TIME IT FIXES THE ISSUE. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.

THE CONDITION HAS EXPOSED MY TURBO AND ENGINE TO IRREGULAR UNWARRANTED PROPULSION MECHANISMS. GM IS HOPING WE'RE IGNORANT ENOUGH TO COVER THOSE COSTS ON OUR OWN. THIS IS WRONG. THEIR FAULTY PART TRIGGERED A SERIES OF SAFETY HAZARDS AND COMPLICATIONS. THEY NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE, WE CANNOT SIT BACK OR TURN A BLIND EYE IN THEIR DIRECTION. SINCE THIS VEHICLE IS UNDER STANDARD MILEAGE FOR THE AGE, THIS SEEMS TO BE AN INDICATION OF DEFECT AND NOT UNDER NORMAL MAINTENANCE. THE MECHANICS AT THIS DEALERSHIP FOUND THAT MY WATER PUMP AND HOSES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS A $1600 JOB, AND I PAID TO HAVE THIS WORK DONE, I WAS NOT ABLE TO PICK MY CAR UP FROM THE DEALER UNTIL JUNE 29. ABOUT TWO WEEKS LATER ON FRIDAY, JULY 12, I RECEIVED THE ENGINE OVERHEATING ALERT ONCE AGAIN. I PROMPTLY CALLED GRAND PRIZE AGAIN, AND SCHEDULED THE EARLIEST APPOINTMENT I COULD. I WAS NOT ABLE TO BRING MY CAR IN TO BE LOOKED AT UNTIL TUESDAY, JULY 16. AGAIN, THE MECHANICS AT THIS DEALERSHIP FOUND A DIFFERENT PROBLEM WITH MY CAR. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE COOLANT TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH THE RADIATOR CAP. I HAD BOTH OF THESE ITEMS REPLACED AT NO COST. I ASKED THEM TO TEST THE ENGINE ONCE AGAIN TO BE SURE THAT THE PROBLEM HAD BEEN RESOLVED. UPON CHECKING THE ENGINE, THEY FOUND THAT MY ENGINE WAS DAMAGED AND I WOULD EITHER NEED A NEW ENGINE HEAD OR A COMPLETELY NEW ENGINE. I WAS INFORMED THAT A NEW ENGINE HEAD WOULD COST ABOUT $4200 AND A NEW ENGINE WOULD COST ABOUT $8000.

THE DASH LIGHT WOULD SAY TURN A/C OFF AND IDLE ENGINE OR TURN OFF ENGINE DUE TO HIGH TEMPERATURE. WHEN WAITING FOR THE AAA OPERATOR I WAS ABLE TO RE-START THE CAR WITH NO DISPLAY MESSAGE BUT ONLY WITH THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT ON. MY 2013 CHEVY CRUZE LT HAS AN ISSUE WITH THE TURBOCHARGER. IT APPEARS TO BE A VERY COMMON ISSUE AMONG CHEVY CRUZES. THE CODE I BELIEVE IT GIVES IS P0299. WHILE THE ACCELERATION AND POWER ALWAYS SEEMED OFF SINCE PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT, THE FIRST TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WAS AT ABOUT 71,400. I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT THE TIME. HOWEVER, THERE HAVE BEEN OCCASIONS WHEN I'M GOING UPHILL AND DESPITE THE SUFFICIENT HORSEPOWER, IT WON'T ACCELERATE AS IT SHOULD. AS A RESULT, THE TURBOCHARGER ISSUE HAS CAUSED THE CAR TO GO MUCH SLOWER THAN THE SURROUNDING CARS WHILE GOING UPHILL, WHICH CLEARLY SEEMS TO ENDANGER THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS AS WELL AS SURROUNDING CARS.

THIS CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO OVERHEATAND BEGIN TO SLOW ON ITS OWN WITH NO REGARD FOR LOCATION OR THE DRIVER. I.E. SLOWING ON THE HIGHWAY PLACING THE DRIVER AT RISK. THE DORMANT WATER OUTLET IS MADE OF TWO PLASTIC MOLDINGS THAT ARE BONDED OR PRESSED TOGETHER LEAVING A SEEM WHERE HOSES CONNECT THESE SEEMS ARE WEEK AND SEEM TO BE THE MAIN SOURCE OF PEOPLES ISSUE INCLUDING MINE. ALONG WITH THE COOLANT ISSUE THE VALVE COVER PURGE VALVE IS FAULTY ALSO CAUSING EXHAUST TO NOT EXIT THE ENGINE UNDER CERTAIN PSI CAUSES SQUEAKING AND POOR THROTTLE RESPONSE ALSO WILL EVENTUALLY CAUSE THE PCV ITSELF TO FAULT OR BREAK.THIS ISSUE MAY BE THE SOURCE OF THE CAR PULLING WHILE STOPED AT A RED LIGHT CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO JERK FORWARD AND POSSIBLY MISFIRING THE ENGINE PISTONS. VEHICLE IS NOT WORTH THE VALUE PAID FOR. ALL ISSUE SEEM TO ARISE AFTER 36000 MILES AND AFTER 5 YEARS WHICH MEANS THESE MANUFACTURER DEFECTS ARE NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. THERE ARE MORE ISSUES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL. I AM SURE I WILL BE BACK HERE REPORTING MORE ISSUES. (ALREADY UNDER MY LIMITED DEALER WARRANTY). SO SINCE THEN I HAVE CHECKED THE OIL EVERY DAY JUST TO BE SURE IM NOT RUNNING LOW AND IT WASNT LOW. WELL LIKE A WEEK LATER I MAKE A DRIVE I HAVE ACTUALLY MADE IN THIS CAR ABOUT 6 TIMES ALREADY TO HAVE LUNCH WITH A FRIEND AND WHEN I GET THERE TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN THE FRIEND IS 10 MIN AWAY SO I RESTART THE CAR FOR THE AC. I DROVE STRAIGHT HOME. 3/23 -- WHEN I STARTED MY CAR, THE 'CHECK ENGINE' LIGHT AND STABILITRAK WARNING WERE STILL DISPLAYED. I RAN A COUPLE OF ERRANDS AROUND TOWN, AND NOTHING CHANGED. I DECIDED TO 'REST' MY CAR FOR A DAY OR TWO WHILE I RESEARCHED THE SITUATION AND FIGURED OUT A PLAN. 3/25 -- WHEN I STARTED MY CAR, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON, BUT THE STABILITRAK WARNING WAS GONE (I.E., MY DASHBOARD DISPLAY APPEARED AS IT NORMALLY WOULD, EXCEPT FOR THE 'CHECK ENGINE' LIGHT). AFTER I HAD DRIVEN MY CAR TO MAKE A COUPLE OF STOPS AROUND TOWN, THE STABILITRAK LIGHT CAME BACK ON. 3/26 -- THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS DISPLAYED AT ALL WHEN I STARTED MY CAR; I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR AROUND TOWN DURING THE MORNING WITH NO WARNING LIGHTS COMING BACK ON. 3/27 -- WHEN I DROVE TO WORK, THE 'CHECK ENGINE' LIGHT AND STABILITRAK WARNING WERE NOT ON WHEN I STARTED MY CAR; HOWEVER, THEY DID CAME BACK ON JUST AS I ARRIVED AT WORK (ABOUT 5 MINUTES AFTER I HAD STARTED MY CAR). FOR SAFETY REASONS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE WARNING LIGHTS ARE DISPLAYED OR NOT, I HAVE TAKEN CARE TO DRIVE ONLY WHEN I ABSOLUTELY NEED TO, ONLY ON SURFACE STREETS, AND WITH MY SPEED AT OR BELOW 25 MPH. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY NOT SUSTAINABLE LONG-TERM.
THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE RESERVOIR THAT HOLDS THE COOLANT THAT MAKES IT UNABLE TO BREATH. THE COOLANT IS BUBBLING INSIDE THE RESERVOIR BECAUSE IT ISN'T ABLE TO RELEASE THE PRESSURE WHICH IN TURN IS MAKING THE CARS OVERHEAT. THE MANUFACTURE JUST SEES THIS NORMAL BUT THERE ARE MANY VIDEOS ON THE INTERNET OFF PEOPLE GOING THROUGH THE SAME THING.
I HAVE TWO COMPLAINTS ON MY VEHICLE, 1.SEVERAL TIMES THE VEHICLE WENT INTO A LOSS OF ENGINE POWER MODE WHERE IT WAS IN AN IDLE POSITION WITH NO ABILITY TO ACCELERATE, THE DISPLAY SHOWED LOSS OF ENGINE POWER, NO STABILTRACK AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WOULD TRANSITION TO A LOSS OF POWER MODE ON THE MAIN ROAD, I HAD TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF, WAIT ABOUT 60 SECONDS AND RESTART, MY POWER WAS RESTORED, THIS HAPPENED ON 3 OCCASIONS. 2. THE SECOND COMPLAINT IS REGARDING THE LOW COOLANT LEVEL, I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED DEALER AND THEY PUT THE COOLANT SYSTEM UNDER PRESSURE AND DETECTED NO LEAK, THEY ADDED COOLANT SINCE IT WAS VERY LOW AND ASKED ME TO LEAVE THE CAR WITH THEM FOR A DAY OR TWO AND SUGGESTED IT MAY BE THE RADIATOR. I REFUSED AND ASKED THEM TO ADD A DYE TO THE SYSTEM THAT WOULD INDICATE THE LEAK PATH AND I WOULD RETURN THE NEXT DAY, THEY REFUSED.

FINALLY OVER THE COUPLE YEARS I OWNED THE VEHICLE AND NOW AT 80K MILES, THE SERVICE STABILITRAK LIGHT HAD BEEN COMING ON MORE AND MORE, I FINALLY GOT IT TO COME ON AND GOT AN APPOINTMENT RIGHT AWAY. I TOOK IT IN AND THEY TOOK 2 DAYS TO FIND OUT THAT ALL MY SPARK PLUGS AND MY COIL PACK WAS RUSTED AND CORRODED. IT COST $700. WHEN THE HEATER WAS ACTIVATED, AN ODOR OF ANTIFREEZE AND FUEL EMITTED INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. I AM ALMOST 66 YEARS OLD I LEARNED TO DRIVE A CAR ON A THREE-THE-TREE FORD. I HAVE OWNED ONLY ONE AUTOMATIC CAR IN MY LIFE, AND THAT WAS FOR FOUR YEARS. I REALLY DON'T THINK I AM TO BLAME. AS THE GM IGNITION SWITCH CAME TO LIGHT I BEGAN TO WONDER. OVER THE PAST FEW WEEKS GM HAS EXPANDED ITS RECALL INTO MORE RECENT MODEL YEARS. TO ME, IT IS SIMPLY THE GM CULTURE WHEN IT COMES TO BUILDING CARS. THE SAME MENTALITY ABOUT USING BAD PARTS WAS PROBABLY PASSED ON THE 2013 MODELS. *TR

WHEN MY HUSBAND AND DRIVE THE CAR AND TURN IT OFF THE CAR TRIES TO RE-CRANK ON ITS OWN. IT HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES. ALSO, MY COUSIN WITNESS IT ONE DAY AFTER I TURNED THE CAR OFF. IN APRIL OF 2013 MY 2013 CHEVY CRUZE SHUT OFF WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE OFF FROM A RED LIGHT THAT JUST TURNED GREEN, AS SOON AS I STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL THE CAR JUST SHUT OFF. THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES BEHIND ME SO I IMMEDIATELY TRIED TURNING THE CAR ON BUT I HAD TO PUT IT PARK THEN START IT AGAIN AND CONTINUED EN ROUTE AND DID NOT THINK ANYTHING OF IT. THIS HAPPENED TWICE WITHIN THE NEXT FEW MONTHS. THE FOURTH INCIDENT I HAD A CAR FULL OF FAMILY MEMBER AND WE WERE GETTING ON THE FREEWAY ON RAMP SLOWING TO COME TO A STOP WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN SO AS SOON AS I STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL THE CAR SHUT DOWN AND I HAD NO CONTROL AND WAS ALMOST HIT FROM BEHIND LUCKILY THERE WAS NO CAR IN THE LANE OVER SO THE TRUCK BEHIND ME SWERVED INTO THE NEXT LANE AND I ONCE AGAIN PUT THE CAR IN PARK STARTED AGAIN AND IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT A FEW WEEKS LATER THAT THEY FIGURED THE PROBLEM WAS A LOW OCTANE GAS AND I JUST NEEDED TO START USING CHEVRON ONLY AND THEY WOULD GIVE ME $250 IN CHEVRON GAS CARDS. I REFUSED TO PICK UP THE CAR BECAUSE I ALREADY ONLY USED CHEVRON GAS IN THE VEHICLE SINCE I PURCHASED IT IN DECEMBER 2012 WITH ONLY 3 MILES. AFTER 2 MONTHS OF ARGUING BACK IN FORTH ABOUT THEM NOT HAVING A FIX FOR THE CAR I RETURNED THE RENTAL AND PURCHASED A DIFFERENT VEHICLE ELSEWHERE AND FILED A COMPLAINT WITH GM WHICH ALSO GAVE ME THE RUN AROUND ABOUT THE VEHICLE BEING FIXED WHEN IT WASN'T EVER WORKED ON TO THIS DAY THEY HAVE THE CAR AND I AM NOW IN COLLECTIONS AND CONTINUING THIS HEADACHE WITH GM. THEY SAID ITS NOT A RECALL BUT I HAVE SPOKEN TO SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE INCLUDING THE RENTAL COMPANY THAT HAS HAD THE CHEVY CRUZE SHUT OFF ON THEM AS WELL. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2013 CHEVY CRUZE IN JUNE, 2013. IN NOVEMBER OF THE SAME YEAR, I STRUCK A DEER ON A RURAL STRETCH OF INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT HIGH SPEED (70MPH). AT THIS POINT THERE WERE ROUGHLY 9,000 MILES ON IT. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, BUT I WAS UNHARMED. THE IMPACT CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO DO A 180 DEGREE ROLL ONTO THE SHOULDER, AT WHICH POINT I EXITED THE VEHICLE TO SEE THE AREA NEAR THE BATTERY SMOKING WITH A SMALL FLAME COMING OUT OF IT. WITHIN MINUTES, AND BEFORE EMERGENCY VEHICLES COULD ARRIVE THE FRONT OF THE CAR WAS FULLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. *TR

TOOK THE CAR TO DEALER FOR CAR WASH ,AFTER DOING COMPLIMENTARY MULTI POINT INSPECTION THEY CALLED ME AND TOLD ME MY WATER PUMP WAS LEAKING.THEY REPLACED THE WATER PUMP ON A CAR WITH ONLY 10801 MILES. *TR

I HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED FOR OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION ON MAY 25. A FEW DAYS LATER, APPROXIMATELY JUNE 1, I NOTICED THE VEHICLE WAS VERY HARD TO STOP WHEN BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY (HAD TO PUSH DOWN VERY HARD ON THE BRAKES WHICH DID NOT SEEM TO GO TO THE FLOOR). I ALSO NOTICED THAT WHILE I WAS STOPPED AT RED LIGHTS OR BEHIND OTHER VEHICLES THE CAR WOULD LUNGE FORWARD--NOT ENOUGH TO HIT SOMEONE BECAUSE I NOTICED IT AS SOON AS IT HAPPENED. ABOUT TWO WEEKS LATER I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP, JEFF WYLER CHEVROLET EASTGATE, AND ADVISED THEM OF THE PROBLEM. SOMEONE TEST DROVE THE CAR WITH ME IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, AND HE INFORMED ME THAT HE COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. I DO NOT KNOW IF HE CHECKED ANYTHING ELSE WHILE I WAS IN THE WAITING ROOM. AT MY REQUEST, HE PROVIDED ME WITH A PRINTOUT DOCUMENTING THE VISIT. ON JULY 7, 2013, WHILE MY DAUGHTER WAS PULLING THE VEHICLE INTO OUR GARAGE, THE BRAKES FAILED AND SHE HIT MY GRANDDAUGHTER BICYCLE WHICH, IN TURN, WENT THROUGH THE DRYWALL AT THE END OF THE GARAGE. I HAVE FOUR CHILDREN LIVING AT THE HOUSE INCLUDING AN 8 AND 10 YEAR OLD. THERE IS ALSO A SIGN ON OUR STREET INDICATING A DEAF CHILD LIVES ON THE STREET (WE HAVE ONLY LIVED THERE SINCE NOV. 2012). WE ARE VERY FORTUNATE THAT A CHILD HAS NOT BEEN INJURED. THERE IS NO WAY TO ALERT THE DEAF CHILD THAT THE CAR IS COMING THEIR WAY SINCE THEY CANNOT HEAR THE HORN. *TR

BEST WAY TO DESCRIBE WHAT HAPPENED WAS WHEN I WAS SITTING AT THE STOP SIGN BEHIND SOMEONE, WITH FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, MY CAR WENT FORWARD ABOUT A FOOT OR SO, NO GAS ACCELERATION FROM MYSELF, I DON'T KNOW IF THE GAS WAS AUTO CONTROLLED, BUT I FELT LIKE I WASN'T PUSHING ON THE BRAKE ENOUGH EVEN THOUGH I WAS, I DID SOME INVESTIGATING AND I READ ONLINE THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE BEEN HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THEIR 2013 CHEVY CRUZE. *TR
