Catalytic converters melted do to extreme engine temperatures no heat warning was given temperature gage never went off . Water pump has been replaced 4 times. Exhaust is now affected by melted catalytic converters.

My service lights keep popping on and start shaking etc.
I have this code p0324 and I replaced the whole knock sensor including the wiring with it and the code still pop up, my car is Chevy Cruze 2014 LTZ 1.4 L4 Turbo. Yesterday I went to dealer to program it and they did program the PCM and later in the evening, the check engine light pop up again with the same code but the car run fine. I seriously want to know what else can cause the issues!!

ABS pump motor stuck X2 & is available for inspection. Brakes could potentially fail putting mine & other's safety at risk. Warning lamps were illuminated. This is the second time this has happened, pump motor was already replaced. There is a recall issued but not for my vehicle specifically. CAN BUS Communication issues.
My car caught fire driving down the road
Well like everyone car has this nasty cloud of black grey smoke Turns out i have a faulty catalytic converter. Not to mention the constant over heating. The change of the water pump thermostat multiple times. This is a nightmare. I drive with one eye on the road and the other on my needle gauge. I drive with my 2 kids and my biggest fear is catching fire. We inhale the smoke as we drive. Unfortunately this life is taking a toll on me. The stress of this car and always needing something is terrible. Get a new car right. Yeah if life was simple we wouldnt be struggling daily breathing in all thise chemicals.

This complaint follows an existing case with the Utah Attorney General Consumer Protection Division (Complaint SR:9-1384660535) and highlights multiple incidents that compromise vehicle safety and public well-being. Summary of Issues: 1. **Electrical Issues and Unsafe Repairs**: I incurred substantial costs, including a recent invoice of **$2,210.72** dated **October 23, 2024**, for a supposed resolution Salt Lake Valley Chevrolet was supposed to have resvoled for an electrical issue. Despite this, the electrical problems remained unresolved, indicating a lack of professional workmanship and charges for servces not rendedered. Also additional time and money wasted. 2. **Damaged Oil Pan**: Salt Lake Valley Chevrolet caused damage to my oil pan, and they attempted to charge me **$866.00** for this damage. I believe this to be an unfair and unjust practice that reflects poorly on the integrity of their service. I authorized an oil change with the electrical issue and after service the car came home leakinig oil. They damaged the components. An oil change would not have been conducted had there been damage. The April invoice with this company will also show a previous oil change and at that time no issue. 3. **Continued Safety Hazards**: I paid **$531.12** on **September 23, 2024**, for a battery cable replacement, oil change, and tire rotation, which resulted in a new leaking oil issue and a flat tire. My vehicle broke down in traffic due to these unresolved problems, creating a potential accident hazard on the road. Tried to charge me for the damage they caused to oil pan and plug. 4. **Carcinogenic Smoke Exposure**: I faced severe health risks due to inhaling carcinogenic smoke following a service in **February 2024**. The car starts smoking upon acceleration and the engine light comes on. It also has a lot of oil on top of the engine. I took the car to an independent dealership and he stated the engine and gaskets are bad and this is a common problem with the 2014 Chevy Cruz. I've been told there was a recall and read online of a recall on the engine. However, I did not see a recall when I entered the VIN number on the national database. I need for a manufacturer representative to contact me as soon as possible to make this situation right.

Car continues to leak coolant

This vehicle should be considered a SEVERE Safety Violation and removed from the road. My son-in-law purchased this vehicle for his daughter back in Aug 2023 and within the first week the car ran hot and couldn't be driven. The car was taken back to the dealer but the dealer refused to take it because there was no warranty added to the purchase. It has been sitting parked because we were told the engine was so bad it should be totally replaced. We're positive the dealer was well aware of the vehicles condition (there was NO visual indication) the vehicle was in such poor condition. The dealer even had an on site mechanic who assured the buyer that the car was in good condition but they both the (owner and mechanic) decided to take advantage selling the car anyway. The car would randomly stop working while driving. One of the times it stopped, it stopped while driving on the freeway.
So yesterday night I was at walmart and I had the car idling while putting stuff in the car the interior lights dimmed and there was a rattle that came from underneath the car right after the car stalled out twice, I had interior lights on but no power to the engine just sitting and once I started driving it didn't stall out on highway, but there is a possibility of this happening at a stop sign or traffic light, but again no check engine light, wondering if you can research into this? seems to be a reoccurring situation.
At [XXX] am on [XXX] the alarm sounded on my car that was parked beside my front porch. I was confused ; as I never locked my car and did not understand why my alarm would be going off. I opened the front door and the front of the car and underneath the engine was in flames. It was burning under the hood and burning and sparking behind the passenger side front tire It was very close to my home so I woke my son and we grabbed a few belongings and went out the back door. I was sure the fire would consume my car and our home. I immediately called 911 and the local fire department arrived and put it out but not before the windshield and all the tires exploded. This could have been deadly. There is absolutely no reason for my car to catch on fire. The police dept was notified and they reached out to me asking if I had full coverage insurance on my car that had burned. Unfortunately I did not. The car was paid for and I had liability insurance so I totally lost my car for an unknown reason. I looked for recalls , I called the Chevrolet company and asked if they could do an investigation but no they did not. There are recalls on earlier models of this car for combustion fires but not this model year. I wanted to sue the company as this was very traumatic and if this car had been in the garage it would have been a terrible disaster. I did not have time or money to spend on a lawsuit at the time I am writing this now because this needs to be on a public forum for other owners of this make and model car. I have lost trust in the Chevrolet company and will never ever buy another GM product. Two years later I still have no answers and nobody seemed to care that my car caught on fire for no reason in the early morning hours while we were sleeping during a rainy cold February morning and had not been driven since 9 pm the night before. i have a feeling their is an issue with the head gasket for many reasons, smoke is coming out of the vehicle of the hood and has a burning smell to it. i checked online and it said some 2013 and 2014 versions of the Chevy cruze have been recalled due to not long lasting head gaskets, and i see how theirs no recalls on the vehicle but it seems theirs an issue with the head gasket and its a 2014 so im assuming this vehicle is a recall. i dont want anything serious to happen to this vehicle as this is my life and i need this car to goto my job and do the things i need to do.
PVC issue on 2014 Cruze. You need to include all years and VINs for this issue. Mine has been in the shop for 4 years straight trying to find the engine issue. It is always a PVC and engine runs rough. I can provide years of receipts trying to fix issue.
I have had a coolant leak issue with my car, which I bought brand new, multiple times. My mechanic has had to replace the water pump and or fix coolant issues multiple times. It happens every year around the same time. I called Chevrolet a couple years ago begging them to research for a recall. If you look online, there are multiple forums, webpages, and discussions of the same issue with the same make and model. Costing consumers hundreds and thousands of dollars for repairs, repeat repairs. Please address this! Chevrolet offers no help!

Water pump constantly leaking through seap hole weather or not u get a new water pump or not can't get it to stop leaking .ac cut off due to heat engine .it will not stop dripping i have changed water pumps 3 times and it never has stopped dripping this has costed us alot of money and time if ww only new this we would have bought something else.we have been through 2 computers ecm ans a motor replaced this thing has been in the shop every year since we had this car once for 9 months
I’m reporting a engine failure in my 2014 Chevy Cruze due to anti-freeze leak I took my vehicle the the Jefferson Chevrolet dealership for repair and they charge me over $3,700 in repairs and then told I had engine failure now my vehicle sitting in the driveway non-repaired. Also being dealing with the dealership every since January 31, 2023
The exact scenario discussed in the 2015 NHTSA Service Bulletin No 14371B, also happened to my 2014 Chevrolet Cruze with a 1.8L engine rather than the 1.4L engine referenced. The original manufacturer water pump was confirmed to be the source of the coolant leak by an independent service center. The part is available for inspection upon request. No engine lights went off, I personally observed the leaking fluid on the ground because of the previous incident noted below. These repairs cost thousands and have done an unknown amount of damage to the engine. A previous coolant leak issue was identified 1 year prior with the thermostat housing. This caused a significant rise in the temperature of the car's engine, which ultimately led to the car being unsafe to drive as it would begin to overheat within minutes of beginning to drive. The warning sign "Engine Hot, AC Off" message appeared, the chiming sound was heard, and I was luckily able to pull into my driveway only 5 minutes later. If I had not been close to home, I would have been forced to pull off on the side of the interstate which is exceptionally unsafe and illegal. The alerts did not appear until the engine was on the brink of overheating. This was confirmed by an independent service center and the part is no longer in my possession.

both cataltic converters are cracked. There was a recall on some 2014 chevy cruze for higher tempatures in exhaust that might cause this issue.
i believe it is the ignition switch, my car has been chugging or hesitating while driving and you can also feel it when you are sitting idling and while one the park position. i’ve also read that there are several others that own a cruze and have this issue. Sometimes as well you stick the key in the ignition and there is no connection no noise as like it’s trying to turn over you have to continue to turn the key off and on to finally get a connection and sometimes when you drive and then park and turn the key off the car tries to restart by it’s self. i believe these are issues that seriously need fixed by gm or chevy- no one should have to pay the price of a car for this to occur! i also do all recommended maintenance as suggested to my vehicle. i am taking the vehicle to be fixed on 5-9-23
I had tried to enter my address is in Canada not the states… I have had to fix my car couple times and issue has not been resolved as I would get a dashboard warning that the oil pressure is low and to turn off the vehicle. The coolant overheat to the point it’s boiling. There is a recall for this issue however not sure why this vehicle does not qualify as it’s a safety hazard
When I took my vehicle to the dealer on 2-24-23 they inform me my head gasket failed the my engine wasn’t any good due to overheating the coolant was leaking inside the engine. I took the vehicle to the dealer when antifreeze wouldn’t stay in the reservoir and white smoke from the exhaust and as 4-12-23 my vehicle is still at the dealer.
Air bags did not deploy in a serious wreck, also with the seat belts not properly securing. First week I bought it. It shut off on the interstate because it was overheating. Ac compressor was broke so it got replace. The fan motor does not spin right. When my air/heater is on my engine make a LOUD noise (since the day I bought it). Cooling system has been replaced 4 times. Overall terrible car and everything needs to be recalled on it. Not safe to drive.
Our 2014 Chevy Cruze is once again having the catalytic convertor fail. We took the car in on 12/04/19 as the maintenance light came on and the dealership said the catalytic convertor was failing and needed to be replaced otherwise it would damage the engine. We had it replaced with a "brand new" catalytic convertor at the Chevrolet dealership. Now we are being told by a different repair shop that the catalytic convertor is "failing again". The maintenance light came on about a week ago so we took it in to be diagnosed. Again catalytic convertor failing. This is very dangerous as our young daughter now drives that car and drives back and forth to college. Should this fail and cause the vehicle to stop on a busy highway this will put her and her passengers in grave danger. This is one of many online articles that state a catalytic convertor should last 10 years. The car was inspected the engine head gasket is failing
My vehicle had a leak in the turbo coolant return line also my vehicle ran hot so I couldn’t drive and cause me two days from work. I had the vehicle inspected by an independent service center. Coolant would leak on the ground.
I financed my car through drivetime in june 2019 and from the time i got the car i have been having electrical issues. My car has also been in a really bad accident prior to me purchasing it and when i tried to return it. They just kept telling me to go to pep boys because I had a 60 day warranty to fix any issues. I should not have had to take my car to any mechanic if I got it from a dealership. I now have really mad transmissin issues and I havent even had the car for 3 years. I believe this company sold me a lemon and i dont know how to prove it. I dont have the money to fix all the issues.
The car keeps overheating and it has been to the mechanic multiple times and the problem exist. If I get on the highway my transmission hot engine idle light comes on. I have had a transmission replaced and a lot of other things repaired and the issue continues
My car often loses power unexpectedly in the middle of a turn in an intersection and once while exiting a busy road. Twice it has died upon arrival at destinations and yet the battery has indicated when tested as fully charged. The key indicator is the radio system turns off for a second or two and then automatically restarts and the car with it. When this occurs the car is unable to be driven as the wheel will not turn. I have informed the local Chevy dealership near me and test was done with no error codes reported. What I have had to do is remove the battery cable and replace it and it seems to make the car work for a little longer until it starts the process again with the radio. I had work done to repair the window motor and that is when I first notified Chevy (I will have to locate the date). I have given permission for my friend to drive the car and he has seen this occur with the radio but did not notice if the car shut down.
my headgasket blow due to excessive overheating or other problems i’m not 100 percent sure. i’m not sure if my vehicle is available for inspection upon request. my head gasket blown on the highway, this is very unsafe due to cars around me going excessive speeds. chevrolet recalled some 2013/2014 cruze models due too problems with the head gasket. it’s UNKNOWN if my vehicle has been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. right before my head gasket blown my engine light cut on.
I was sitting at a red light and my vehicle began to move forward with my foot on the brake. The vehicle began to increase in rpm's like i was pushing on the accelerator but i was not!! Later that day i went to the gm dealer to see what they could find and didn't find anything cause the computer had reset since i had shut the car off. Two days later the car did the exact same thing so i immediately drove to the car dealer. Told them how dangerous that was and i couldn't believe the car was acting like i was giving it more gas when i wasn't!! They hooked it up to the computer and found the problem this time. It had to do with a crack in my pollution canister. With that crack my computer thought my car needed more gas and would give it more gas. I can't believe they let a computer program give your car more gas and you have no control of it and without warning. The first time it did it i was not prepared for it and when the computer gave my car more gas it began to move into the intersection and almost caused a horrible accident. Since the dealer replaced the pollution canister i have not had any problems. I have warned everyone i know about what happened and to be prepared for it. It just amazes me that more people haven't been seriously hurt by this! Hopefully that crack that caused my problems doesn't happen to anyone else!!

The car catalytic converter failed again. It failed once before in 2017. The dealer fixed it as it was under warranty and GM had a recall on it. There was a check engine light that came on. Took it to the Chevy dealer. It was diagnosed the the catalytic converter failed. To repair it the dealership is charging me $3600.00 for it. This should be a manufacturing defect as the same problem happened and should be covered by the manufacture. GM is aware of this problem and still do not want to address it.
Turbochager is malfunctioning. The engine could have seized and since its mostly highway driving to get anywhere that could be bad. The problem has been confirmed through a auto shop. Not inspected by anyone else. There are no warning lamps. Message was low oil. checked it and there was no oil in the car.
The turbo breaks on all of these cars. Mine caused damage to my transmission and I have spent two months trying to get it working but all of the turbos for sale or broken or break. Now I believe it has caused damage to the converter as the car consistently drops out of high gears and then revs at over 5000 RPMs refusing to upshift. I live in an area with hilly freeways and I have almost been in two accidents because my car can't go over 50 MPH uphill and that's if I was going faster before getting to the incline. If every turbo on this car breaks, causing these issues, why has there not been a recall? This is dangerous to everyone with these cars. Chevy needs to take responsibility to fix this issue.
The car overheats due to the water pump and coolant leaks .
car is hard to start after getting gas and transmission does not operate correctly to get up to speed from an intersection the engine revs to 7000 RPM to get up to 40MPH and several times coming close to being run into at times transmission did not work put shifter in drive accelerate and nothing suddenly transmission engaged and the car bolted forward

I took my car into King Chevrolet last year around August. The car was overheating and the fan was running almost all the time. When they ran the diagnoses which I was charged 100 dollars for, they told me I had a loose plug. About 1 month after that, it started doing it again. I called the service department and was told I should get rid of the car as they are not that good of a vehicle by the service tech. I found the thermostat was broken and replaced it. It helped for a while then I noticed the check engine light and it was code p0420 which stated it was a bad catalytic converter. I noticed a recall in 2018 by GM, recall # 16186. I called them today and they said my car was not affected. It did affect 2014 chevy cruze according to the recall. They wanted me to bring it in to have it diagnosed again for 100 dollars. I have have the valve cover replaced twice as the pvc valve was defective. The car has 116,000 miles now and it had 96,000 when this started happening. I would like to know if they are telling the truth, or just trying to soak me for repairs.
The hose that carries the coolant constantly pops off and leaks coolant. I had it fixed in 2019 at a dealership when it first happened. It started happening again last year and it will over heat. A light in my car comes on saying things are shutting down in order to cool the vehicle. I cant afford to keep fixing it. I don't know why it keeps happening.

And a few days later we received a letter from Chevrolet about extending the warranty on the PCV valve due to failure. We contacted our personal service person who confirmed that was inline with the PCV failure. We then took it to the Chevrolet dealer who said it would cost 9k to repair despite it being a known issue. This could have resulted in an accident if we had not caught it.

My 2014 Cruze has 55600 miles and started to make a ticking noise oil was checked no problem however there was no antifreeze/coolant so I added it. Less than a week later again I had NO antifreeze/coolant I saw that Chevy had a recall on some 2013 & 2014 chevy cruze’s head gasket. My VIN isn’t coming up. I feel after babying my car and servicing her religiously that the issue is the responsibility of the manufacturer.
My engine is making whistling sounds, the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV), is failing. This is causing my check engine light to flicker on and off. The diagnostic codes report that the turbo seal may be cracked due to this issue above.

We have discovered a known issue with the pistons cracking. Seems this issue has impacted a huge number of people. We are now left with an unuseable vehicle that requires 8k in repairs. There are tons of articles and complaints about this issue. Chevrolet must repair or reimburse all those that have been impacted.
I have a code p0420 code and engine light keeps comeback on I had the catalytic converter replaced, and everything inspected by Friendship Chevrolet in Forestcity NC 28043. Kept my car for two weeks and still couldn’t find the problem of this p0420 code so my engine light stays on.

When they pulled over they noticed that there was smoke coming through the vents of the vehicle. THE TURBO FAILED TO WORK WHILE MERGING ONTO THE FREEWAY AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. IT WAS SHIFTING INTO 4TH GEAR WITH HIGH RPM TO KEEP FREEWAY SPEED. WHEN DIAG BOX WAS LATER PLUGGED IN, THE CODE CAME BACK AS "P0299" - TURBO UNDERBOOST. I ATTEMPTED TO REPLACE THE SENSOR (CODE CAME BACK) AND SOLENOID (CODE BACK AGAIN) AS THEY CAME UP OFTEN IN RESEARCH WHEN LOOKING FOR A SOLUTION. TURBO WORKED FINE FOR A MONTH AND THEN QUIT AGAIN WITH THE SAME CODE AND MY CAR IN LIMP MODE AGAIN. I FILED A COMPLAINT THROUGH GM AND THEY MANAGED TO GET THE PART THAT WAS BACKORDERED INDEFINITELY DUE TO FACTORY WORKERS BEING ON STRIKE. APPARENTLY, GM CUT THEIR HEALTHCARE OVERNIGHT. I'D STRIKE TOO. THE SERVICE PRINTOUT I RECEIVED AFTER REPLACEMENT STATED THAT THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TURBO: "INSPECTED FOR OIL INTRUSION, NONE FOUND WASTEGATE SOLENOID CONNECTOR MISSING RETAINER - DOES NOT AFFECT FUNCTION. BYPASS VALVE OPENS AND CLOSES WHEN COMMANDED. NO AIR INDUCTION RESTRICTION FOUND. RECOMMEND TURBO FOR FAILED BOOST COTROL TEST" THIS SOUNDS TO ME LIKE A FAULTY PART, AND AN EXPENSIVE ONE AT $1,501.86, THAT I PAID FOR BUT DID NOT BREAK. NOT TO MENTION THE SENSOR AND SOLENOID REPLACED PRIOR. MY CAR IS "FIXED", AND RUNS, BUT THIS IS STILL AN ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE IN GENERAL, AND THE TURBO SHOULD BE RECALLED TO PREVENT FUTURE DANGER FOR OTHERS. I ALSO THINK IT'S BS THAT I'VE HAD TO PAY A MONTH'S RENT FOR A PART THAT SHOULDN'T HAVE FAILED AT ONLY 54,000 MILES. I WILL NOT BE KEEPING THIS CAR AND PAYING ANOTHER MONTH'S RENT IN A YEAR. GM SERVICE BULLETIN PIP5197J (AS AMENDED 10/2018) DESCRIBES MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH THE PCV AND NON RETURN VALVE ON THIS ENGINE. IF EITHER PART FAILS IT IS A COSTLY REPAIR AND CAN LEAD TO OIL SPRAYING OUT OF THE VALVE COVER/INTAKE MANIFOLD. THIS HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE IN OCTOBER AND HAS HAPPENED TO A HUGE NUMBER OF OTHER VEHICLES IN THE PAST 6 YEARS. THE OIL EXPECTORATE FROM THE ENGINE CAN BURN AND CAUSE SMOKE TO ENTER THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT LEADING TO RESPIRATORY ISSUES FOR THE PASSENGERS. DEALER FOUND A SMALL VALVE DRIPPING ON THE ENGINE AND REPLACED IT. THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER REMAINING POWERTRAIN WARRANTY AT THE TIME OF COMPLAINT/ISSUE. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO LEAK AFTER SAID REPAIR AND WAS BROUGHT BACK TO DEALER 2 MORE TIMES AND DYE TEST WAS DONE AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. ON THE THIRD TIME THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK AGAIN WITH THE SAME ISSUE..LOSS OF COOLANT. THE DEALER AND GM WARRANTY NOW WANT TO CHARGE ME FOR CYLINDER HEAD REMOVAL AND HEAD GASKET REPLACEMENT. I CONTENDED THAT THE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY AT THE TIME OF INITIAL REPAIR AND THE ISSUE WAS NOT RESOLVED AND SHOULD STILL BE FIXED UNDER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. GM WARRANTY REP SAID NO...THE "DATE" HAD EXPIRED. NOW I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO PAY FOR REPAIRS THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY..AND GM WONT "OWN" UP TO ITS WARRANTY. CANT JUST TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK BECAUSE IT WAS SETTING OFF "HIGH TEMPERATURE" CODE WHEN AT IDLE AND ALSO MOVING. MY 2014 CHEVROLET CRUZE STARTED LOSING POWER UPON ACCELERATION. A FEW DAYS LATER, THE ENGINE DIAGNOSTIC LIGHT CAME ON. I KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG WHEN I COULDN'T KEEP IT RUNNING IN MY DRIVEWAY TO CLEAR THE ICE FROM THE WINDOWS. FINALLY, I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT TO OUR MECHANIC. WHEN HE RAN THE CODES, HIS COMPUTER SHOWED TWO SENSORS AND THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED REPLACING. OVER $700.00 LATER, THE PROBLEM STILL WASN'T FIXED. I WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR, FEARING THE LACK OF POWER AND BOGGING WOULD CAUSE ME TO STALL IN TRAFFIC, THUS INCREASING THE LIKELIHOOD OF CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. IT IS BURNING GAS AND BOGGING UPON ACCELERATION AND / OR WHILE IDLING. SOMETIMES, IT IS DIFFICULT TO START. THE DIAGNOSTIC LIGHT IS STILL ON. TODAY, MY MECHANIC IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM. THE CHECK VALVE IN THE INTAKE MANIFOLD HAS STOPPED SEALING AND HAS DISAPPEARED. WHERE DID IT GO? INSIDE THE ENGINE? I ASK. IT WILL NEED A NEW VENT TUBE, A NEW INTAKE MANIFOLD WITH THE CHECK VALVE INTACT, AND A NEW VALVE COVER WHICH HAS TO BE REPLACED DUE TO A LITTLE DIAPHRAGM WHICH CAN'T BE REPLACED BY ITSELF. ANOTHER POOR DESIGN. THIS CAR ONLY HAS 47,967 MILES AS OF 2-05-2019. I BOUGHT THIS CAR FOR THE GOOD GAS MILEAGE, WHICH HAS BEEN GREATLY REDUCED AT THIS TIME. GM NEEDS TO CORRECT THESE PROBLEMS SINCE THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN CAUSED BY A FAULTY DESIGN OF THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. I HAVE FOUND OTHER 1.8L CRUDE OWNERS ON LEMON LAW SITES THAT ALSO CLAIM PROBLEMS WITH THE WATERPUMPS.

THE INTAKE MANIFOLD DESIGN ON THE TURBO ENGINES ARE FAULTY AND FAIL EVERY 40,000 MILES OR SO. GM IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND YET THERE IS NO ATTEMPT TO REDESIGN THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. THE CHECK VALVE IN THE INTAKE MANIFOLD IS WHAT FAILS TO WORK. THE CHECK VALVE STOPS SEALING AND EVENTUALLY DISAPPEARS CAUSING A LEAK. WITCH CAN LEAVE A VALLEY IN THE CENTER OF THE BLOCK! THEY MADE THE SAME MISTAKE WITH THE GRAND AM QUAD-4! THE HEAD ALL CRACKED BETWEEN CYLINDERS 2 AND 3 BECAUSE THE BLOCK WASN'T DECKED SQUARE! I HAVE TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER ON SAT 12/29/18 WISH SOMEONE WOULD CHECK THE BLOCK, I KNOW THE DEALER WILL TRY TO BLAME MY AND TO MAKE ME PAY FOR SOME OR ALL OF IT, EVEN THOUGH IT IS SILL UNDER WARRANTY! PROBLEM NO.2, I PURCHASED A NEW CHEVY CRUZE ECO WITH A MANUAL TRANSMISSION 4 YEARS AGO, I GOT IT BECAUSE I WANTED A HIGH MPG CAR AND I HAVE BEEN DRIVING STANDARD TRANSMISSION SINCE I STARTED DRIVING AND I KNEW I COULD BETTER MILEAGE THEN RATED (65.5 MPG MY BEST SCORE!), BUT THE SHIFTER HAS TO MUCH SLOP IN IT, I HAD A CUTLASS WITH A HURST SHIFTER THAT WAS 16 INCHES TALL AND USED THAT HAD LESS SLOP! I HAVE COMPLAINED TO DEALER ABOUT IT SINCE THE DAY I GOT CAR! THREE TIMES I HAVE PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN BOTH FIRST AND THIRD GEAR AT THE SAME TIME! I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW MANY TIME I HAVE MISSED THE SHIFT WHILE STILL HOLDING ALL THE WAY IN POSITION! IF I AM IN A HURRY I CAN'T FIND THE GEAR AT ALL! PROBLEM NO.3, THE HYDRAULIC THROW-OUT BEARING IS SLUSHY AND SLOW. BECAUSE THE MASTER-CYLINDER AND FEED-LINE IS TO SMALL! I AM A FAST SHIFTER, AND I CAN OUT SHIFT THE CLUTCH! THAT IS BAD BECAUSE THE PRESSURE PLATE DOESN'T CLOSE FAST ENOUGH IT CAUSES EXCESS WARE AND BURNING OF THE CLUTCH!

I THEN HAD A COWORKER TELL ME THAT WHAT I WAS DESCRIBING WAS MY WATER PUMP. I THEN NOTIFIED THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN THAT I WAS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES, AND THAT I AM NOW SMELLING COOLANT IN THE CAR AND MY CAR ACT LIKE ITS READY TO STALL.. THEY GOT ME BACK IN AND CHECKED WHAT I WAS COMPLAINING ABOUT. THEY FOUND OUT I WAS RIGHT IT WAS THE WATER PUMP.. I HAD FOUND A RECALL ABOUT THIS WHOLE THING AND SHOWED THEM, AND BECAUSE THEY CHECKED BY VIN NUMBER MY CAR DIDN'T HAVE THIS RECALL BUT MY CAR SHOULD HAVE. IT WAS FOR THE 1.4 ENGINE, NOT MY 1.8. I HAD MY WATER PUMP REPLACED, MY THERMOSTAT AND I AM STILL HAVING ISSUES. THIS CAR IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD AND SHOULDN'T HAVE THESE PROBLEMS SO EARLY. GM NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING FOR ALL CRUZE OWNERS CAUSE I AM TIRED OF SPENDING OVER 600 DOLLARS AND STILL HAVING ISSUES.
A WARNING TO CHEVY CRUZE OWNER'S MYSELF OWNING ONE, I NOTICED THE CAR LOSING ACCELERATION AND AT CERTAIN TIMES, MISFIRING FROM A CYLINDER, TO SUM IT UP, I RAN THE OBD CODE AND GOT CODE # P0304 WHICH IS ENGINE MISFIRING. I ENDED UP WAITING UNTIL THE CAR WAS COLD AND REMOVED THE T30 SCREWS TO ACCESS THE SPARK PLUGS, THE COIL PACK'S RUBBER BOOTS WERE MELTED ONTO MY SPARK PLUGS, I HAVE TAKE SUPER CARE OF THE CAR AND I NEVER WOULD OF THOUGHT OF THE COIL PACK HAVING A SERIOUS ISSUE, THIS IS DEFINITELY SOMETHING OWNER'S SHOULD BE AWARE OF. I HOPE THIS CAN GET LOOKED INTO AND A RECALL WOULD BE A HELPFUL OPTION, THOSE COIL PACKS SHOULD BE MADE DIFFERENTLY OR MAKE SOMETHING MORE DURABLE THAN PLASTIC BOOTS. THIS PROBLEM STARTED A FEW WEEKS BACK, IT WOULD RUN FINE FOR ALMOST A HALF HOUR AND THEN IT STARTED CHUGGING AND AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS, IT HAD NO POWER TO MOVE, PROCESS OF ELIMINATION WAS A CODE FOR THE BAROMETRIC PRESSURE SENSOR, SO I STARTED THERE FIRST ONLY BECAUSE IT WAS CHEAPER, ONCE I GOT A CONFIRMED CODE OF CYLINDER'S MISFIRING THAT'S WHEN WE TOOK AN IN DEPTH LOOK AT THE SPARK PLUGS, I HAD TO REPLACE THE COIL PACK AND I DID 4 NEW SPARK PLUGS.

XCHANGE LEASING, AN UBER COMPANY, WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FIRE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO HER INSURANCE COMPANY. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. I PURCHASED MY CAR IN APRIL 2016 WITH APPROX 22,000. ON THE SECOND DAY THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE HOOD WHICH IT SOUNDED VERY CLOSE TOWARDS THE ENGINE, EXHAUST PART OF THE CAR. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY DIDN'T STATE WHAT THE ISSUE WAS THEY JUST TOLD ME THEY HAD FIXED IT. THE NOISE WENT AWAY. 3 MONTHS LATER I STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKING. I WAS AT A BIG INTERSECTION WHEN I WAS TURNING LEFT MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED ON ME AND MY ENTIRE LIGHTS INCLUDING THE DASHBOARD WENT OUT. I COULDN'T MOVE MY CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION AND LUCKILY THERE WASN'T CARS COMING TOWARDS ME. IT TOOK ABOUT 10-20 SECONDS TO COME BACK ON. WHEN IT DID COME BACK ON THERE WAS A LOT OF LIGHTS POPPING UP AND THEN THERE WAS A "STABILI TRAK" LIGHT ON. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE BECAUSE I KNEW I COULDN'T DRIVE IT ANYMORE. I CALLED MY DEALERSHIP AND I TOOK IT IN THAT SAME DAY. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A WIRE THAT WAS LOOSE AND THEY HAD FIXED IT. WELL THEY DID NOT, 3 WEEKS LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME AND THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON THEN. I TOOK IT IN AGAIN AND THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS AND NOW I AM BACK TO THE SAME THING EXCEPT SOMETHING NEW. NOT ONLY DOES MY LIGHT COME UP AND MY STEERING WHEEL STILL LOCKS ON ME BUT MY CAR BEGAN SHAKING LAST NIGHT AND WHEN I WOULD DRIVE IT IT WOULD MAKE THE SAME LOUD NOISE FROM THE BEGINNING TOWARDS THE FRONT OF THE CAR TOWARDS THE ENGINE, AND IT WOULD HESITATE ON GOING WHEN I WOULD MAKE A STOP. NOW THERE HAS BEEN MANY ISSUES WITH THE CAR FLASHING ISSUES ON THE DASH ABOUT DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID POOR, PARTICULATE FILTER FULL NEED REGEN, AND FINALLY POWER DECREASED, WHICH I DID NOT HAVE HARDLY ANY ACCELERATION. I FOLLOWED EVERY PROCEDURE THE OWNERS MANUAL AND CAR TOLD ME TO DO, AND STILL DID NOT REGENERATE THE PARTICULATE FILTER. THE DEALER HAD TO FORCE A REGENERATION ON THE FILTER AND ORDER A DEF HEATER. IT SEEMS THAT THERE IS MANY ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH THIS CAR AND ONCE ONE IS REPAIRED, ANOTHER ONE APPEARS. AFTER CAREFUL EXAMINATION OF THE VEHICLE THERE WAS NO VISIBLE FUEL LIQUID PRESENT ON THE ENGINE OR GROUND BELOW THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE SAT PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY FOR MAJORITY OF THE DAY, UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE TO TRANSPORT TO THE DEALER THREE MINUTES AFTER THE VEHICLE BURST INTO FLAMES IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, USING A GARDEN HOSE WHILE CALLING 911 THE VEHICLE BECAME FULLY INVOLVED IN THE ENGINE BAY SPREADING INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. ONCE WATER CONTACTED THE ENGINE BAY THE FIRE FURTHER SPREAD INDICATING THE FIRE WAS CHEMICALLY BASED. THE LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE VEHICLE USING A FOAM WATER MIXTURE. IT SEEMS THE COLDER IT IS, THE HARDER IT RUNS. LIKE YOU NEVER CHANGE YOUR OIL, AND THE MUFFLER HAS A HOLE, OR THE MOTOR RUNS REAL HEAVY, LIKE RPMS STICKING. SOMETIMES ITS MORE FAINT. I TRIED HIGHER GRADE GASOLINE, AS ADVISED, THIS DID NOT HELP. MORE IMPORTANTLY. THE DOORS SHOULD DEFINITELY BE RECALLED. THEY ARE A SAFETY CONCERN. THEY SLAM BACK ON YOU EVEN IF OPENED ALL THE WAY, IF ON AN UNEVEN PAVEMENT OR SLIGHT INCLINE. THERE IS ONLY ONE LATCH AT ALL THE WAY OPEN. AFTER PURCHASING THE 2014 CRUZE ON JULY 29, 2014, I DROVE IT TO MY RESIDENCE WHICH WAS FOR 6 MILES AND PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. I PLACED THE SHIFT LEVEL IN THE PARK POSITION AND SET THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. MY GRAND DAUGHTER, AGE 16, ASKED IF SHE COULD TEST DRIVE THE CAR. AFTER ENTERING THE VEHICLE, SHE RELEASED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND ATTEMPTED TO START IT. THE CAR WOULD NOT START AND UNKNOWN TO HER WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START, THE VEHICLE SLOWLY WENT BACKWARDS INTO THE STREET. THE SHIFT LEVER IN THE VEHICLE WAS STUCK IN PARK AND WOULD NOT MOVE AND IT WOULD NOT START. I CALLED ON STAR AND ASKED THEM TO RUN A TEST ON THE CAR TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. THE LADY CAME BACK WITH NO KNOWN PROBLEMS FROM THEIR TEST. I ASKED AND SHE CALLED A TOW TRUCK TO RETURN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE CRUZE WAS REPAIRED THE NEXT DAY. THE PROBLEM WAS IDENTIFIED WITH A DEFECTIVE SHIFT CABLE. THE CASING AROUND THE SHIFT CABLE AT THE TRANSMISSION CRACKED CAUSING CABLE NOT TO RELEASE LEAVING TRANSMISSION IN FREE MODE. I WAS UPSET AND ANGRY WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND GM BECAUSE THE VEHICLE BROKE DOWN IN THE FIRST 6 MILES. I THEN CHECKED FOR RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE AND FOUND GM RECALL NUMBER 14048 AND NHTSA RECALL 14V092, WHICH IDENTIFIED MY DEFECT EXACTLY, BUT DID NOT INCLUDE MY VIN IN THE RECALL ORDER. I CALLED GM AND EXPRESSED MY CONCERNS THEY ASSIGNED A CASE NUMBER AND A VERY NICE LADY CALLED AND ASKED WHAT WOULD MAKE ME HAPPY. MY MAIN CONCERN WAS THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY AND OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE BOUGHT THE CRUZE WITH A DEFECTIVE SHIFT LEVER CABLE. ONCE A PART IS IDENTIFIED AS DEFECTIVE IT SHOULD NO LONGER BE USED AND IT SHOULD BE REPLACED ON ALL MANUFACTURED VEHICLES. SHORTLY AFTER BUYING THIS VEHICLE I DISCOVERED THERE AS A PROBLEM WITH THE EXCESSIVE TORQUE AND THE BRAKING SYSTEM AND HAIR TRIGGER BRAKE RELEASE. WHEN RELEASING THE BRAKE THIS CAR WOULD LEAP FORWARD IN AN UNSAFE MANNER. THIS WOULD HAPPEN WHEN RELEASING THE BRAKE SLIGHTLY. RELEASING THE BRAKE A QUARTER OF AN INCH OR LESS WAS SUFFICIENT. I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT MY FOOT SLIPPING OFF THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE HIGH RPM'S AND TORQUE IS NOT A GOOD MATCH WITH THIS PARTICULAR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. I AM SURE A STANDARD TRANSMISSION WOULD BE A BETTER MATCH. AFTER MY CAR JUMPED OUT INTO A MAJOR STREET AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP EXAMINED MY CAR AND CAME UP WITH THE BELLOWING RESULTS: BRAKES FEEL NORMAL FOR VEHICLE. 4 WHEEL DISC AND HAS ELECTRIC VACUUM PUMP. NO REPAIRS REQUIRED AT THIS TIME. IDLE NORMAL FOR PRESENT TIME, ECM WILL RISE IDLE AT CERTAIN TIME LIKE COLD START COMPENSATE FOR BATTERY DRAW OF GLOW PLUGS?. BY THE WAY THE ABOVE INCIDENT OCCURRED WHEN THE CAR WAS NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE. AS A RESULT I IMMEDIATELY TRADED THIS VEHICLE (1500 MILES WERE ON THE ODOMETER) FOR A DIFFERENT BRAND.
