I have had car repairs done identical with the 2014 models with the same exact issues described in those year recalls, car hesitant and jerking, breaking down on numerous occasions and replacing gaskets hoses and many codes common with fuel and traction control and finally engine blown!
I have had to replace the turbo 3 times now. My car was leaking oil where the the oil filter is so I replaced that whole part. I watched a video how to replace the part. And it said in the video to remove the plastic piece from the engine oil cooler filter housing if you have a turbo because it feeds oil to your turbo. Well my car had the original part on it and the plastic piece wasn't removed causing no oil to get to the turbo. And the turbo has glowed red hot almost catching fire.
The check engine light came up, after having the code read it was discovered that the turbo charger was bad. My vehicle was fixed by the dealer. Prior to being fixed my vehicle was running rougher and accelerating at a slower speed.
My 2015 Chevy Cruze has had the Turbo replaced because it was blown. It has had every component that connects to turbo replaced, MAP sensor, wastegate, the intake system, the manifold gaskets, the coil pack, fuel injectors idle control valve, coolant bypass hose and engine coolant housing, oxygen sensors, oil pressure sensor switch, purge valve solenoid, and of course the oil pan gasket. Every hose has been changed in case of pin hole for air leak too. I run Iridium spark plugs, high test gas, do my oil changes on time with full synthetic oil but yet every time something gets fixed the check engine light comes back on. Living in the great (not) state of NY you cannot have check engine on for inspection, I financed this with Carvana and this car has been nothing but problems. I would think looking at all the reviews on here CHEVROLET WOULD DO A RECALL ON THESE CRUZE’S! The turbo’s are a major issue and cost Thousands of dollars to repair… Like many others I live on a very tight budget I’m on disability and cannot afford to keep trying to fix this car. It’s time to do something about it, maybe a class action lawsuit on the turbo’s……
The turbo on the vehicle develops a crack in the exhaust side by the wastegate over time. This is a common problem as reported by forums, that seems to be a near 100% failure rate. The crack causes lost of intake boost pressure that throws a low boost code and reduces engine power significantly.
My engine light has been randomly coming on then off leaving many history codes. It's normally a diesel particulate filter code and I have paid hundreds replacing each sensor or part. So this time, Carroll Buick of Venice Fla says the embedded code is saying I need an engine control module , same code. I'm still driving it they say it's safe to drive because the part $900.00, plus labor, is backorder. I'm a bit over 100,000 miles and I have a lifetime power train warranty but it won't cover any electrical parts only greased literal parts of engine or transmission. I'm not certain it's true anymore they replaced everything so far over 2 years but I'm at theor mercy. Zurich warranty is not covering this and I'm shocked it went just b4 100k miles and now I'm at 107k. I feel chevy should own this issue since I've been told to keep driving it with the engine light on. I'm really scared but I need it to go to work please help thx
Vehicle only has 47939 miles on it and my check engine light came on. I had it coded and it comes up the turbo. It sounds bad and loses power at stop light or going up hill

There are two main problems I've seen them time and time again ( on YouTube sure not great credibility but hear me out) the intake manifolds are not tightened tight enough come lose and start making the motor shudder misfire losses power and then the coolant line t isn't secured good enough and burst from high pressure I understand wanting to use plastic over metal its cheaper but aluminum would have been more reliable then after that the intake manifold causes the coolant line to burst at the t which causes your head gasket to blow which in turn kills your turbo and possibly if driven ( if it's possible to drive mind you I was almost hit twice just trying to get off the road ) kills your catalytic converters and that's a complete engine failure that could have been prevented
When i turn the A/C on, it appears a message on the screen that says A/C off due to high engine temperature. The car is losing coolant without external leak. A mechanic performed a cold pump test to the cooling system and no external leak was found. After that it was performed a compression test at a shop to each cylinder, finding that there's a bad head gasket. My car only has 70.000 miles and it has a bad head gasket already. This can cause an accident because when your engine is overheating, you should pull over your car as soon as possible to avoid any serious damage on your car. Besides that, the losing of coolant should cause a fire on the engine. There are recalls for the same vehicle but not for the 2015 Cruze and I have read lot of complaints about the same issue.
Leaking coolant, overheating engine

AC Off Due to High Engine Temp message flashes on dashboard.
I had the water outlet assembly repaired by Mike Castrucci Chevrolet on 02/05/21. I had it repaired again by Car X on 04/05/2023. Car X said that Mike Castrucci Chevrolet tightened the screw on the part and stripped it. This could have caused me to buy a $2,000 head gasket. This part was recalled on the 2011-2014 Chevrolet Cruze. Mine is a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze purchased in August 2015. No warning lamps told me of this problem. Onstar did not detect it.
It shakes and stutters while driving off and on. If it’s super cold outside it may not even start. When sitting idle it’ll spit and sputter and periodically backfire. When going to take off from a stop sign there’s lag or it won’t take off at all even floored. I’m getting milky oil so I’m getting condensation from somewhere. This trickle effect all starts off my MAF sensor and has progressively gotten worse. I’ve had the MAF, o2 sensor, turbo valve , spark plugs, battery(s) changed all trying to fix this issue and 2 years later I’m still fighting with it. Yesterday while heading home I couldn’t go over 45, and it would stutter and feel like your driving on rubble strips, when I got home it smelled like something was burning, popped the hood and the dipstick showed “black” oil but in the oil cap there the milky oil in and around the cap as well as my fan being SUPER loud after it’s shut off.
UNKNOWN- 2015 CHEVY CRUZE - THE REGULATORS IN THE AUTOMATIC WINDOWS KEEP BREAKING- I HAVE REPLACED REGULATORS 3 TIMES- AND THE TWO FRONT WINDOWS WILL NOT GO UP OR DOWN NOW-I JUST FIXED THE PASSENGERS SIDE WINDOW ABOUT A MONTH AGO AND ITS BROKEN AGAIN.- THE CLOCK DOES NOT KEEP TIME CORRECTLY- HAD A COOLANT LEAK TWICE - AND THE TIRES SEEM TO LOSE TREAD PRETTY QUICKLY- REPLACED TIRES A FEW YEARS AGO- DOES NOT HAVE VERY GOOD TRACTION CONTROL- VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE WITH GLARES NO MATTER IF ITS FRESHLY CLEANED-NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR- I USUALLY LOVE MY CHEVY'S BUT THIS CAR IS A LEMON- AS SOON AS I PAID IT OFF ALL THIS STARTED HAPPENING- AND I CAN'T AFFORD ANOTHER CAR AT THIS POINT.
87,000 miles on the car. 6 incidences of coolant system failure within the last 2 years/3,000 miles. This car costs me over $1000 in repairs every 3 months. I have replaced the water outlet, water pump (several times), cracked reservoir, and camshaft cover failure (this is covered by a warranty, thankfully).
after driving for approx 5 or 10 min, light white smoke was coming from exhaust pipe but went away quickly and never did it again. This happened only 1 time and only 15-30 min before the head gasket blew, causing the engine to blow - No other signs of a blown head gasket happened until after it blew - I was on a 2 lane hwy (my direction - 4 lanes total) surrounded by diesel trucks and luckily had a clearing that allowed me to get over safely but it was very dangerous
Coolant leaking, was repaired. Now coolant mixed into oil causing overheating and a blown head gasket. Car now needs major repairs under 100,000 miles. I see recalls for 2013-2014 Models but none for 2015.
The thermostat keeps cracking. The temperature gage does not work. Says that the engine is too hot and turns the AC off. Replaced the thermostat several times in the past 5 years due to cracking and coolent spilled all over the road and left me stranded twice. Now the sensors have broken and the AC will not turn on and the fan runs all the time. Check engine light doesnt come on until after the thermostat cracks and leaks all of the coolent out. This needs to be recalled!

I bought a new catalytic converter on the vehicle and had old parts replaced. There aren’t any leaks. I received an engine diagnostic test and still comes back with P0240 code.
Service Engine indicator came on with message "Engine Hot, AC OFF". This is a 2015 Cruze with the 1.4L engine. This engine has the same water pump as previous models (2011 -2014). General Motors issued a Special Coverage Adjustment-Engine Coolant Leak from Water Pump, Bulletin # 14371B, in January 2015. GM is extending warranty period for 10 years or 150,000 miles. GM is making repairs at no cost to current owners of 2011-2014 Chevy Cruze. This extended warranty coverage and repairs should include 2015 Chvey Cruze owners. Again, the 2015 model with the 1.4L engine has the same water pump and all the same failure symptoms indicatea failed water pump. GM has identified this as a design flaw by issuing the Special Coverage Adjustment-Engine Coolant Leak from Water Pump, Bulletin # 14371B. There is the risk of engine overheat and sudden loss of engine power/ seizing that will occur with a loss of coolant while driving.

Coolant leak and engine overheating from Thermostat housing issue. 2nd time we have taken it in for this problem in 2 months after initial repair.

Reduced engine power & service stabilitrek. Service Engine light came on, and I had reduced power on the highway in the fast/passing lane with people behind me, this issue caused my car to suddenly slow down about 30mph, causing cars behind me to slam on their brakes and cut in front of other cars to the slow lane to avoid rear ending me

Leak from passenger side of the engine, next to air items intake,it is a coolant because I see orange color and I put about 6oz every other day
Driving the car and suddenly it began to stall, next engine light came on, stability light came on, engine overheating waring came on, radio turned off, ac stopped working, smelling antifreeze, car shakes, power stalls when accellerating, smoke exited the engine, oil leaked and finally car stopped. AAA got car took it to a mechanic and rebuilt whole cylinder head. Now I received a letter from GM stating something wrong with PCV valve, and same thing is happening again same senerio just 4 months after getting fixed.
On many occasions the car would be at a stop and start shaking violently, then it would stall out no matter where I was. The engine light came on so I went to see what it was, at first I thought it was the air filter, changed that, then it was the mass airflow sensor changed that then it started doing it again, then it was the O2 sensor and it worked for a day or 2. Now if the AC is on it shakes violently again and if I am at a stop it still will stall out.
Coolant leaking, it bursts one of the hoses, got it fixed and I have taken it to get repaired 4 times and the problem still continues
BOUGHT 2015 CRUZE LT USED IN 2017 FROM LHM USED CAR SUPERMARKET. 3 MONTHS LATER I'M RETURNING TO DEALERSHIP AS THERE IS A LARGE QUANTITY OF DEXCOOL ON THE GROUND. STILL UNDER WARRANTY THEY REPLACE THE WATER PUMP. 3 MONTHS LATER AND THE VEHICLE STARTS SHAKING AND SHUDDERING WHILE AT STOP LIGHTS LOOSES POWER AND EVEN STALLS ON THE HIGHWAY. TOOK IT TO MECHANIC OUTSIDE THE LHM PERVIEW AND MECHANIC STATED: LEAKING COOLANT ON TRANSMISSION HOUSING AND POOLING THERE DRAIN PLUG STRIPPED OUT CAUSING MASSIVE OIL LEAK AND PCV BAD NEEDS REPLACED. THE NEW MECHANIC REPLACED THE OIL PAN AND GAVE ESTIMATES FOR THE PARTS AND LABOR FOR THE PCV AND THE COOLANT LEAK. NOW DON'T GET ME WRONG I LOVE MY CRUZE BUT I WAS TOLD ID BE CLOSE TO WHAT I OWE ON THE CAR TO REPAIR IT AS CHEVROLET WILL NOT DO A RECALL ON THE MASSIVE ISSUE PARTS, THERE IS ONLY 59,213 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. SOMEONE FROM CHEVROLET NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS AND EITHER FIX THE ISSUE OR MAKE SOME SORT OF RECOMPENSE FOR THOSE WHO ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AS I AM.

I JUST HAD WORK DONE ON THE ENGINE FOR THE 5TH TIME IN THE LAST 2 YEARS. ALL REPAIRS ARE RELATED TO THE ENGINE OVERHEATING OR NOT REGULATING PROPERLY. THE FIRST TIME THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE REPAIRS TO THE ENGINE HAVE COST ME ALMOST $3000 AND THAT IS NOT INCLUDING NORMAL MAINTENANCE. THE MOST RECENT ISSUE IS THE TURBOCHARGER BYPASS VALVE. I HAD IT REPLACED ON 6/27/20 AND THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON WITH THE SAME CODE ON 6/28/20. WHEN I HAD WORK DONE AT THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP IN AUGUST/SEPTEMBER OF 2019 I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THEY ARE SEEING IN ALMOST ALL CHEVY CRUZES. I'VE BEEN TOLD THIS AT 5+ DIFFERENT DEVICE CENTERS WHILE GETTING REPAIRS DONE ON THE ENGINE OR GENERAL MAINTENANCE DONE. THE CAR HASN'T EVEN REACHED 100,000 MILES AND I'M BEING TOLD I PROBABLY NEED A NEW ENGINE. THIS IS NOT OK. I'VE BOUGHT AND REPAIRED THIS CAR AT CHEVY DEALERSHIPS. ALL MY ENGINE ISSUES HAPPEN WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION, AND THE CAR SHAKES A LOT DUE TO THE ENGINE OVERHEATING EVEN THOUGH THE TEMPERATURE GAGE READING IS NORMAL. I WAS CROSSING A HIGHWAY WHEN MY 2015 CHEVY CRUZE STARTED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND EXPERIENCED A LOSS IN POWER, THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS THEN DISPLAYED ACROSS MY DASH, I MANAGED TO LIMP IT HOME AND THEN TOOK IT TO THE MECHANICS THE NEXT DAY. THE MECHANICS CHECKED THE CODES AND FOUND THAT, A ENGINE MISFIRE WAS DETECTED, THE FUEL INJECTOR CONTROL MOD WAS NOT AVAILABLE, OR THERE WAS A COMMUNICATION PROBLEM, THE ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL LOST COMMUNICATION WITH THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE, THE DIGITAL RADIO RECEIVER CONTROLLER WAS NOT AVAILABLE, OR WAS EXPERIENCING A COMMUNICATION PROBLEM, AND THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL WAS DISPLAYING FAILURES IN AMBIENT AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR CIRCUIT, AND LOST COMMUNICATION WITH THE HVAC CONTROL MODULE. IT TURNS OUT THAT DUE TO A MANUFACTURER ERROR (CHEVY/ GENERAL MOTORS) THAT THE CARS IGNITION COIL TOWERS HAD BURNED OFF ON CYLINDERS 2 & 4 AND HAD TAKEN OUT THE SPARK PLUGS AS WELL. SO DUE TO THIS MANUFACTURER ERROR, NOT ONLY WAS EVERYONE IN MY VEHICLE PLACED AT DANGER, BUT I ALSO HAD TO GET EVERYTHING REPLACED FOR A TOTAL OF $432.80 A COUPLE OF DAYS AFTER FINDING OUT I HAD BEEN LAYED OFF OF WORK.

BOUGHT A USED 2015 CHEVY CRUZE LTZ, CARFAX CHECKED OUT EXCEPT FOR WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS A YEAR OLD IT FAILED EMISSIONS TESTING 5/2019 (NO DETAILED INFORMATION OF THE WORK DONE, ASSUMING WORK DONE) BUT IT SHOWS AS PASSING EVER SINCE UNTIL DECEMBER 2019. CAR HAD ISSUES AGAIN OVERHEATING WHILE DRIVING IN 4/2019. AN INTERCOOLER PIPE, PVC PIPE, WATER PIPE, AND WATER HOSE WERE REPLACED. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN IN 9/2019, MANY ISSUES WERE FOUND BUT I ONLY HAD ENOUGH MONEY TO REPAIR THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS. AT THIS POINT I WAS REPLACING COOLANT EVERY TWO WEEKS TO AVOID THE ENGINE OVERHEATING AND AT TIMES IT WAS A VISIBLE PUDDLE COMING FROM UNDER THE CAR. 11/20/2019 I RETURNED TO GET A SENSOR AND ANOTHER THERMOSTAT HOUSING REPLACED. 11/27/2019 I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE SHOP AFTER MY VEHICLE BEGAN SMOKING WHILE DRIVING. I PULLED OVER AND COOLANT WAS QUICKLY DRIPPING OUT FROM UNDER THE CAR. THE RADIATOR WAS CRACKED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WHEN THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO ME I NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE WAS NOISY AND THERE WAS A SCREECHY SOUND UPON ACCELERATION. I HAD TROUBLE PICKING UP SPEED. I GOT TO THE GAS STATION ABOUT A MILE AWAY AND TURNED OFF THE CAR TO GET GAS. WHEN I TURN THE VEHICLE BACK ON THE ENGINE BEGAN TO SHAKE, REV UP AND DOWN ON ITS OWN, AND THEN CUT OFF. I TRIED A FEW TIMES TO START THE CAR UP AND IT HAPPENED EVERY TIME. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE REPAIR SHOP AND HAD THE CAR TOWED BACK THE SAME NIGHT. THEY WERE ABLE TO LOOK AT IT ON 11/29/2019 AND REPORTED THAT THEY SAW NO ISSUES. IN DISBELIEF, I PICKED UP THE CAR, AND I DROVE AROUND FOR ALMOST A WEEK. I ENDED UP COMING BACK TO RIDE ALONG WHILE A TECHNICIAN TEST DROVE THE CAR. HE SAW AND HEARD THE SAME ISSUES THAT I CLEARLY HAD WITH THE VEHICLE. WE RETURNED BACK TO THE SHOP AND HE DID A DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT SHOWED THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE TURBOCHARGER.

WHILE DRIVING I NOTICED MY VEHICLE WASN'T GIVING OUT MUCH HEAT, I WAS FREEZING AND I EVEN LET MY CAR HEAT UP BEFORE LEAVING. SOON A WARNING LIGHT CAME ON SAYING "AC OFF DUE TO HIGH ENGINE TEMP" IT WAS THEN I LOOKED AND NOTICED MY TEMPERATURE GAGE AND REALIZED MY CAR WAS OVERHEATING. I GOT IT HOME SHUT IT OFF AND THE FAN WAS STILL GOING. SO I STARTED MY CAR AGAIN, LOOKED AT THE GAGES TO SEE THAT EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL. I PROCEEDED TO TURN MY CAR BACK OFF AND THIS TIME THE FANS TURNED OFF. DOING SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THERE ARE MANY CASES IN WHICH THIS IS HAPPENING WITH OTHER 2015 MODELS AND ALSO WITHIN 2014 BACK TO 2012. HOPING THIS IS AN ISSUE CHEVY CAN MAKE RIGHT.

WHEN DRIVING MY 2015 CHEVY CRUZE DOWN THE HIGHWAY I NOTICED THAT THE TEMPERATURE OF THE CAR WAS GOING UP PAST THE NORMAL POINT AND THAT THE HEATER WAS NO LONGER WORKING. ABOUT 5 MINUTES LATER THE DISPLAY SAID "A/C TURNED OFF DUE TO EXCESSIVE ENGINE HEAT" AND THEN THE CAR PROCEEDED TO GO INTO "LIMP" MODE WHERE IT COULD NO LONGER BE DRIVEN AND TOLD ME TO PULL OVER AND ALLOW IT TO IDLE. AFTER A MINUTE OR TWO WITH THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE NOT GOING DOWN, I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND HAD IT TOWED TO A GM CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO REPORTED THAT THE WATER PUMP HAD GONE OUT AND THAT THE CAR HAD BEEN LEAKING COOLANT.

ALL REPAIRS COVERED BY WARRANTY. 1 MONTH WARRANTY LEFT.

WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, I NOTICED ENGINE COOLANT LEAKAGE HAD OCCURRED. ALL THE COOLANT HAD BEEN EVACUATED FROM THE RESERVOIR ONTO THE PAVEMENT. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE MECHANIC SHOP AND EVALUATED. MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THE WATER PUMP HAD LEAKED ALL THE COOLANT AND HAD TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH THE THERMOSTAT. ACCORDING TO SERVICE BULLETIN 14371A, ONLY MODEL YEAR 2011-2014 ARE AFFECTED. I BELIEVE THAT MODEL YEAR 2015 SHOULD BE ADDED.

IT HAS BEEN BACK TO THE MECHANIC 3 SEPARATE TIMES WITH A COMPLAINT THAT THIS VEHICLE EXCELERATES SPORADICALLY AND WITHOUT NOTICE. THERE IS NO FAULT CODES THAT COME UP. THE MECHANICS DRIVE IT BUT THIS DOES'NT HAPPEN TO HIM, THEREFORE THEY STATE THAT THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM. I FEEL TOTALLY UNSAFE WHEN THIS HAPPENS AND I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR. I HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCE DRIFTING OF THE CAR WHEN TRAVELING DOWN THE HIGHWAY; WHEN I CORRECT THE DRIFT THE STEERING WHEEL IS STIFF AND CAUSES AN OVER CORRECTION PULLING ME THE OTHER DIRECTION. THE BIGGEST CONCERN I HAVE EXPERIENCE LATELY IS THE LOUD HIGH PITCHED NOISE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD; THIS OCCURS AFTER I HAVE PARKED THE CAR AND REMOVED THE KEY; ONE TIME I COULD HEAR THE COOLANT LINES GURGLING. VERY SCARY NOT KNOWING WHAT IS GOING ON UNDER THERE.

UNDER SOME CONDITIONS COOLANT TEMPERATURE GETS UP TO 236 DEG F BEFORE RADIATOR FAN COMES ON AND THIS GETS WORSE IN WINTER. THIS HIGH TEMPERATURE SEEMS TO ALIGN WITH PROBLEM BUT THE ANALOG GAUGE STOPS AT ABOUT 3/8 AND WILL NOT GO FURTHER EVEN WHEN DIGITAL TEMPERATURE REGISTERS 190DEG F OR 240 DEG F. ( THEY SAID GAUGE IS DESIGNED THIS WAY) GM AND DEALER SAY SYSTEM IS WORKING AS DESIGNED BUT HAVEN'T EXPLAINED FAN OPERATION OR WHY TEMPERATURE GETS TO 236 DEG F WHEN NORMAL TEMPERATURE IS 221 DEG F. THEY CANNOT EXPLAIN ODOR OR LOSS OF COOLANT. THIS COULD BE PROBLEM IN ANY CHEVY CRUZE ECO AND IF DRIVER DOES NOT WATCH COOLANT LEVEL THE CAR COULD OVERHEAT.
