BRAKE PEDAL STARTED VIBRATING ALMOST UNCONTROLLABLY WHEN ATTEMPTING TO STOP SO I HAD BRAKE PADS REPLACED. WHEN I PICKED UP THE CAR THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME MY PADS WERE STILL GOOD AND HADN'T NEEDED CHANGING BUT THEY CHANGED ANYWAY. THE NEXT SHOP RESURFACED MY ROTORS BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. IT STOPPED ON IT'S OWN BUT EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE IT WILL DO IT STILL.

AS I WAS AT STOP LIGHT 3 DAYS AGO AND AT A LOW SPEED AND ABOUT TO STOP MY ABS BRAKING SYSTEM ACTIVATED WITHOUT ANY INDICATOR LIGHTS AND IN DOING SO IT RELEASED THE BRAKES EVEN THOUGH I WAS STILL PRESSING THEM. I AVOIDED HITTING THE CAR AHEAD OF BY SHOVING IT INTO PARK. IT DOES IT EVERY TIME I ATTEMPT TO STOP AND NOW HAVE TO USE MY EMERGENCY BRAKES TO ACTUALLY COME TO A COMPLETE STOP WHEN ABS ACTIVATES AND RELEASES BRAKES. DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDED I REPLACE MY FRONT BRAKES AND THEY TRIED TO SAY IT WAS ALSO THE TIRES. THEY WERE ABLE TO REPRODUCE IT BUT NEVER FIXED THE PROBLEM. THEY DID NOT LET ME KNOW IT WASN'T FIXED AND NEARLY ROLLED OUT ONTO A HEAVY TRAFFIC ROAD. I CALLED THEM AND INFORMED THEM WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND ASKED WHY THEY LET ME DRIVE A UNSAFE VEHICLE BUT WHEN I ASKED THAT THEY REMOVE THE FUSE FOR THE ABS SYSTEM UNTIL I CAN FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG. THEY SAID THAT WAS UNSAFE AND NOT LEGAL FOR THEM TO REMOVE THE FUSE. I ASKED POHANKA CHEVY HOW IS THAT ANY MORE OR LESS UNSAFE THEN NO BRAKES TO STOP. IT IS THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM THAT IS FAILING FOR SOME REASON AND WHY HASN'T THIS BEEN RECALLED TO FIX. POHANKA ONLY OFFERED A APOLOGY BUT WILL NOT FIX OR HELP AND I NOW HAVE A UNSAFE VEHICLE THAT COULD FAIL ME AND CAUSE ME TO HAVE A ACCIDENT. I SPENT $785.41 AND THEY DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. I HAVE ALSO REPORTED THEM TO MY STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S CONSUMER DIVISION OFFICE. I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR 12 YEARS AND I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF IT. NEVER HAD THIS KIND OF PROBLEM UNTIL 3 DAYS AGO. DO A RECALL ON THIS ABS BRAKING SYSTEM!

AT A LOW SPEED BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND THE CAR CONTINUED TO MOVE FORWARD WITHOUT STOPPING. IT SEEMED AS IF THE ABS SYSTEM ENGAGED. NO BRAKES AS MY CAR CONTINUED TO MOVE FORWARD AT THIS LOW SPEED EVENTUALLY REAR ENDING ANOTHER CAR AS MINE NEVER STOPPED. THE BRAKES HAD JUST BEEN REPLACED 2 YEARS PRIOR. I HAD THIS CAR CHECKED SEVERAL TIMES FOR THIS SAME INCONSISTENT BRAKE ISSUE BUT NOTHING WAS NEVER FOUND. AT TIMES THERE WOULD BE A GRINDING NOISE WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES AND MY FOOT WOULD JUST GO TO THE FLOOR WITH NO STOPPING. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT GM HAS NEVER ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE. I HAVE SPENT SO MUCH MONEY OVER THE YEARS TO TRY AND ADDRESS THE ISSUE AND NO MECHANIC COULD EVER FIGURE IT OUT. NOW MY CAR IS TOTALED AND I HAVE AN INSURANCE BILL THAT IS NOT ONLY COSTLY BUT NOT FAIR. GM SEEMS TO HAVE TAKEN NO ACCOUNTABILITY AND I JUST HOPE NO ONE ENDS UP HURT. I CAN'T EVEN IMAGINE IF I WAS TRYING TO STOP AT A CROSSWALK WHAT MAY HAVE HAPPENED. I WAS BORROWING MY GRANDFATHERS CAR AND FEEL TERRIBLE.

I HAVE DONE PLENTY OF RESEARCH OVER THIS AND IT SEEMS TO BE A RECURRING THING WITH THESE VEHICLES. IF EVERYONE OF THEM IS HAVING THIS ISSUE AND THE BRAKES ARE THAT DANGEROUS, HOW HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL. THIS HAPPENS EVERYTIME I DRIVE, WHETHER GOING DOWN AN INTERSTATE AND HAVING TO HOT MY BRAKES TO JUST DRIVING IN A SMALL TOWN, THEN WHEN I TRY AND GO AGAIN THEY MAKE THE GRINDING NOISE WHILE DRIVING FOR A MINUTE.

BOUGHT MY 06 EQINOX IN MAY OF 2015. DAY 2, BATTERY DIED. DEALER PUT NEW BATTERY IN. NEXT WEEK, BATTERY DEAD AND TOOK OUT STEREO WITH IT. DEALER REPLACED BATTERY AND STEREO. NOW HAVING TROUBLE STARTING AGAIN. HAVE REPLACED BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS TWICE ON REAR WHEELS AND FRONT ONCE. CAR MAKES GRINDING NOISE STILL WHEN BACKING WITH FOOT ON THE BRAKE. ABS AND TC LIGHTS CAME ON MAY OF 2017. HAD CHECKED OUT AND NEEDED FRONT RIGHT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR REPLACED. REPLACED IT AND LIGHT STAYED ON. HAD IT RECHECKED AND IT STILL READS THE SAME. NO BRAKES. PEDAL STUTTERS ON THE WAY DOWN AND THEN HAS TO BE FORCED DOWN THE REST OF THE WAY TO STOP THE CAR. HAD MECHANIC LOOK AT IT AND WAS TOLD TO REPLACE ABS MODULE. WE DID AND I FINALLY HAVE BRAKES AGAIN BUT NOW MY BREAK LIGHT IS ON ALONG WITH THE ABS/TC LIGHTS. CAR HAS SUNROOF. HAD CAR 2 YEARS AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY BACK FLOOR IS FLOODED. THOUGHT THE KIDS SPILLED WATER. NOPE. SOAKED A BEACH TOWEL CLEANING IT UP. NEXT HARD RAIN, FLOODED AGAIN. LINES ARE CLOGGED AND BACKING UP INTO MY CAR. TWO BEACH TOWELS AND TWO GALLONS LATER OF WATER VACUUMED UP AND MY PADDING IS DAMP AND STILL STINKS LIKE MILDEW. THIS CAR IS BADLY DESIGNED. THE BRAKE SITUATION IS VERY DANGEROUS. LUCKILY THERE WAS AN EMPTY TURN LANE BESIDE ME WHEN IT RAINED OR I WOULD HAVE HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD GO TO THE FLOOR WHEN TURNING AND WOULDNT STOP ON STRAIGHTAWAYS. THE ELECTRICAL WIRING IN THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR IS JACKED UP TOO. CAN'T UNLOCK THE DOORS, TURN ON DOME LIGHT AND DOESN'T SHUT OFF RADIO.

I'VE BEEN FORTUNATE ENOUGH THAT THIS HASN'T CAUSED AN ACCIDENT YET... BUT I BELIEVE THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE EXAMINED BEFORE SOMETHING DESTRUCTIVE OR TRAGIC OCCURS. HAD TO RESEAL REAR DOOR WHETHER STRIPE. 5 MONTHS LATER THE ACTUATOR OF THE HEATER FAILED AND BROKE THE BLEND DOOR TO THE HEATER. I DIDN'T HAVE HEAT FOR A YEAR. BRAKE SYSTEM SENSORS FAILED 3 MONTHS AGO $2000 FIXED HUB AND ASSEMBLY AND KNUCKLES. FUEL INJECTION LINE BROKEN AT ONLY 100,000 MILES.

THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT I SEE MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING WITH THE EQUINOX THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. THE VEHICLE TURNS OVER THEN STALLS. ONLY WAY I HAVE FOUND TO PREVENT IT FROM HAPPENING IS TO PRESS THE GAS PEDAL WHILE TURNING IT OVER. WIPER ISSUE. MY PASSENGER SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER DOESN'T WORK. I LIVE IN AN AREA WHERE HEAVY SNOW FALL HAPPENS. THIS IS A DANGER TO MYSELF AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD. IF MY VEHICLE IS ON THE ROAD DURING A BLIZZARD OR HEAVY SNOW VISIBILITY IS LOST ON HALF MY WINDSHIELD.

THE ISSUES OCCUR AT ATTEMPTING TO STOP AT STOP SIGNS AND STOP LIGHTS. THIS IS THE FIRST OF ANY MAJOR ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE. MY ISSUES ARE BREAK RESISTANCE AND VIBRATIONS. ALONG WITH GETTING MY BRAKES AND ROTORS FIXED AND/OR CHANGED EARLIER IN THE YEAR, I STARTED FEELING BRAKE VIBRATIONS INITIALLY. AFTER GETTING THE ROTORS CHECKED, IT HAPPENED SOON AFTER AND "GRADUATED" TOWARDS A RESISTANCE WHERE I WAS UNABLE TO STOP OR SLOW DOWN UNLESS I PUMPED MY BREAKS REPEATEDLY TO RELEASE THE PEDAL LOCKING. I RECENTLY GOT MY LEFT FRONT SPEED SENSOR AND HUB ASSEMBLY REPLACED IN HOPES IT WOULD FIX THE ISSUE. 3-4 WEEKS LATER, THE RESISTANCES HAS SEEM TO GOT A LOT STRONGER/BIGGER. IT HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME SEVERAL ACCIDENTS AT THE STOP LIGHT AND I AM NOW TRYING TO SAVE TO GET THIS ISSUE FIXED AS I WAS QUOTED ABOUT $2K INITIALLY. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD TO ANY VEHICLE AND EQUINOX THAT HAS THIS ISSUE. I HAVE SAVED MYSELF FROM SEVERAL ACCIDENTS WITH QUICK AWARENESS AND ACTION AND BUT I AM NOT SURE HOW LUCKY OTHERS HAVE BEEN. THE RESISTANCE IN THE BREAKS AND VIBRATION IS VERY NOTICEABLE AND CONTINUOUSLY HAPPENS UNTIL THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS UP ON THE DASH BOARD INDICATING THEY ARE DEACTIVATED/DISABLED. THIS IS WHEN BRAKING BECOMES MUCH EASIER WITH LITTLE TO NO RESISTANCE AND VIBRATING. BETWEEN THE SPEED SENSOR, HUB ASSEMBLY, I HAVE SPENT JUST OVER $1K IN EXPENSES AND THIS WILL CONTINUE TO RISE WITH THE NEXT REPAIR OF WIRE HARNESS AND/OR REPLACEMENT OF ABS SYSTEM IN HOPES IT CORRECTS THE ISSUE. I HAVE A 2006 EQUINOX WHICH I BOUGHT IN 2010. WHILE I HAD VARIOUS "OF AGE" REPAIRS, SUCH AS FUEL SYSTEM ISSUES AND A FAN MOTOR; WITH THE AGE AND MILEAGE, THEY SEEMED NORMAL. IN 2013 I REPLACED THE EGR VALVE AND TRANSMISSION SPEED SENSOR SIMULTANEOUSLY; AS THE CODE WAS FOR EGR, BUT WOULD ONLY INTERMITTENTLY KICK IN THE TSS CODE (THE CAR DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC 3 TIMES BEFORE I COULD GET THE CODE TO STAY SO WE COULD FIND THE PROBLEM). AMONG LOOKING ONLINE FOR THE PROBLEM, IT WAS COMMON, BUT MY DEALER WOULD NOT FIX WITHOUT THE CODE. JUNE, 2014, THE BRAKES STARTED PULSATING ON THE CAR IN LOW SPEEDS. I WOULD HAVE TO PUMP THE BRAKES TO GET IT TO STOP. TWICE, PUMPING THE BRAKES AT AN INTERSECTION FAILED, AND NEARLY RESULTED IN A WRECK WITH MY DAUGHTER IN THE CAR. THE ABS AND TC LIGHTS WOULD COME ON INTERMITTENTLY. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC: HE EVALUATED EACH CONNECTION AND CLEANED THEM, WHERE THE ABS HARNESS CONNECTS TO THE MAIN HARNESS. HE FOUND NO DISCREPANCIES. AFTER 2 MORE MONTHS OF DANGEROUS DRIVING, AND A WHOLE NEW SET OF BRAKES (ALL 4), ONLINE RESEARCH PREVAILED ONCE AGAIN. THIS PROBLEM WAS COMMON; AND SUGGESTED A RATHER CHEAP FIX. THE 18 IN WIRE HARNESS FROM THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR TO THE MAIN HARNESS HAD AN ISSUE. SURE ENOUGH I, A WOMAN, AFTER BEING TOLD THE DEALERSHIP DIDN'T CARRY THE PART, ORDERED IT ONLINE AND REPLACED IT IN 15 MINUTES. NO PROBLEMS SINCE THEN. MAY, 2015. WHAT APPEARED TO BE A THERMOSTAT ISSUE ENDED UP BEING A COOLANT RESERVOIR PROBLEM. THE RESERVOIR WAS BROKEN, WHERE THE PLASTIC NIPPLE THAT COMES OUT THE BOTTOM ATTACHES WITH THE HOSE. AFTER I CONTACTED ALL PARTS STORES IN THE AREA, I WAS TOLD WHILE IT WAS COMMON FOR CHEVROLET TRUCKS AND EQUINOX VEHICLES, THE EQUINOX PART WAS NO MADE AVAILABLE TO THE PARTS STORES. I HAD TO SPECIAL ORDER ONLINE, THANK GOODNESS IT WORKED.

ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS DASH BOARD INDICATORS CAME ON AND THE ABS BRAKES BEGAN TO PULSE SUDDENLY. THE PULSING WOULD HAPPEN AT ANY TIME (DRY OR WET SURFACE AND AT ANY SPEED). WHEN VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL DASH LIGHTS WOULD BE OFF BUT WOULD LIGHT UP AGAIN IN A SHORT WHILE. TOOK VEHICLE TO FIRESTONE. I HEARD A THUMPING NOISE FROM WHAT FELT LIKE UNDER MY FEET. I THEN TRIED TO PUSH ON THE BRAKES, ONLY HAVING THE PEDAL GIVE A GREAT AMOUNT OF RESISTANCE WITH LOUD ABS NOISES. ALSO, ONCE CRANKED THE CAR WILL SOMETIMES IDLE ITSELF DOWN FROM 1 RPM TO 0 RPM THEN BACK TO 1 RPM. THERE IS ALSO A CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM BACK END OF CAR WHERE THE FUEL PUMP IS. I HAVE ALSO HAD ISSUES WITH HAVING THE HEADLIGHTS REPLACED BECAUSE WATER GETS INTO THE HEADLIGHTS. MOST OF THE EQUINOX'S THAT I SEE ON THE ROAD HAVE WATER IN THE HEADLIGHTS. THIS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE THE HEADLIGHT BULBS WILL BURST WHEN WET AND YOU HAVE NO HEADLIGHT UNTIL YOU HAVE IT FIXED. (WHICH YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE HEADLIGHTS/TAIL LIGHTS YOURSELF BECAUSE PART STORES REFUSE TO DO THE LABOR FOR YOU BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT TO EVEN REPLACE A BULB. THIS SEEMS TO ME THAT CHEVROLET DID THAT SO IF YOU ARE A WOMAN, LIKE MYSELF, YOU ARE FORCED TO TAKE IT SOMEWHERE AND HAVE IT REPLACED.) THERE ARE ALSO ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES AND ROTORS WEARING TOO FAST. I HAVE ALSO HAD ISSUES WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE RESISTOR ON THE BLOWER MOTOR TWICE IN 2 YEARS. THESE MAY NOT BE BIG PROBLEMS TO GM, BUT I RELY ON MY CAR TO TAKE ME TO WORK AND SCHOOL AND THE FACT THAT THEY GENUINELY DON'T CARE HAS FORCED ME TO NOT WANT TO BUY ANOTHER CHEVROLET AGAIN. SEEING AS THEY HAD TO HAVE A GOVERNMENT BAIL OUT PREVIOUSLY TO EVEN STAY IN BUSINESS, YOU WOULD THINK THAT THEY WOULD VALUE THEIR CUSTOMERS! *JB
