The ECM in my vehicle appears to have an intermittent failure that can cause it to send the vehicle into WOT at any time at random. I was stopped at a traffic signal. It turned green, I let off the brake and my vehicle learched forward for a second, and then, all of a sudden launched into and hit the vehicle in front of me. I tried to push down the brakes, but they were too stiff, and, no, my foot did not even get a chance to press the gas yet. There was only minor damage to my vehicle, however, the situation was extremely scary. I have since changed out the ECM and have had no issues since. I have seen this issue once before on a similar vehicle, except, what happened with that is the vehicle was in a garage, and the ECM had failed nearly completely and stuck the vehicle in WOT. In my case, I was still able to drive the vehicle home, so the issue appeared to me intermittent. I still have the original ECM for further investigation. As I understand it, this ECM is in thousands of GM vehicles, across multiple lines. GM Part Number: 12611090.

Everytime my vehicle is exposed to water by rain or car wash. It goes into low power mode or limp mode only accelerating to like 30mph. I was told there is water getting somewhere is shouldnt causing a short. Im not the only one with this problem . Ive read on several forums.I was just on the freeway recently and it rained for about 5 minutes here in fresno California which is extremely unusual because it is still summer and the vehicle did this while i was driving. I could've caused an accident i had to pull over and stop driving. I turned off and on the car several times and the low power mode finally went away, and also the service stabilitrak system. Chevy is aware of this problem and they need to fix before somebody gets hurt

ENGINE OVERHEATING "STATIONARY AND IN MOTION" SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH MOST 2006 AND ABOVE. I REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT, THE WATER PUMP, I PERFORMED A RADIATOR FLUSH, REPLACED THE ECT SENSOR, AND STILL THE CAR OVER HEATS. I DID A COMPRESSION TEST AND IT'S FINE, I CHECKED THE HEAD GASKETS AND THEY ARE FINE. THE OIL LOOKS FINE, THE RADIATOR FLUID LOOKS FINE. I WENT THROUGH A CAR WASH AFTER REPLACING THE WATER PUMP, THERMOSTAT, AND ECT SENSOR. THE CAR STILL OVER HEATS, BOTH AT IDLE AND AFTER DRIVING 2 MILES OR 10 MILES. I'VE BEEN TOLD IT'S EITHER AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE, A RADIATOR ISSUE, OR ENGINE ELECTRICAL ISSUE. I CAN NOT KEEP PUTTING MONEY INTO A CAR THAT IS ONLY WORTH $2,500. MANY OTHER PEOPLE I HAVE NOTICED POSTED THE SAME ISSUE OF OVER HEATING AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT. IT SHOULD BE A CHEVY RECALL, AND REPAIRED BY THE MANUFACTURER. HERE IS AN EXAMPLE OF 1 OTHER COMPLAINT:........ON NOVEMBER 17TH THE VEHICLE STARTED TO TELL ME THAT IT WAS OVERHEATING AND TO TURN A/C OFF. A/C WAS NOT EVEN ON BECAUSE IT WAS COLD AND THE HEAT WAS BLOWING COLD AIR. THE VEHICLE THEN TOLD ME WHILE I WAS TRYING TO GET TO A SAFE LOCATION TO PULL OVER THAT THE ENGINE POWER WAS REDUCED AND THE VEHICLE STATED TO CRAWL ALONG THE ROAD. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS LOOKED AT WHERE I PULLED OVER THERE WAS MINIMAL OIL IN THE VEHICLE AND IT HAD BLOW COOLANT ALL OVER THE DRIVER SIDE WHEEL WELL FROM WHAT LOOKED LIKE THE OVERFLOW TUBE. OIL WAS PUT IN THE VEHICLE SO THAT I COULD DRIVE IT TO A SAFE LOCATION. ON NOVEMBER 18TH I WENT TO START THE VEHICLE TO GO TO WORK AND WITHOUT GOING ANY PLACE BUT SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY IT STARTED TO TELL ME THAT THE ENGINE WAS OVERHEATING AND TO TURN A/C OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. THE DEALERSHIP THAT I USE WORKED ON IT AND REPLACED THE TEMP CONTROL AND THERMOSTAT AND DID A COMPLETE OIL CHANGE. MANY OTHER EQUINOX OWNERS ARE HAVING SAME ISSUE

MY 2007 CHEVY EQUINOX INSTRUMENT PANEL HAS BEEN ACTING UP HERE RECENTLY AND THE SPEEDOMETER GOES TO 120MPH AND STAYS THERE. YOU CAN'T TELL HOW FAST YOU ARE GOING. THAT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE GAS GAUGE N TEMPERATURE GAUGE WILL GO TO THE TOP LIKE FULL OR HOT OR NOT MOVE AT ALL. COULD BURN AN ENGINE UP OR RUN OUT OF GAS. RECALL WAS DONE I HEARD BUT NOT ON ALL 2007EQUINOX VEHICLES AND IT SHOULD HAVE INCLUDED ALL. THERE ARE A LOT STILL ON THE ROAD. I AM ASKING FOR SAFETY REASONS TO INCLUDE ALL 2007 CHEVY EQUINOX VEHICLES TO BE RECALLED AND FIXED BY GM. IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE TO HAVE REPAIRED AT A SHOP OR AT THE DEALER. 07 EQUINOX VEHICLE WOULDN'T START, KEY STUCK IN IGNITION. TRIED WIGGLING STEERING WHEEL WHICH WAS NOT LOCKED AND WOULD NOT LOCK. THE KEY WOULD NOT COME ALL THE WAY BACK IN ORDER TO GET IT OUT. CAR WAS IN PARK AT HOME THANK GOD. TRIED EVERYTHING I KNOW EVEN LOOKED IT UP ON GOOGLE. THERE WERE SO MANY COMPLAINTS ON THIS ABOUT 07 EQUINOX KEY STUCK AND SOME VEHICLES WOULD START AND LOTS MORE WOULDNT?? WE TRIED TO DO START BUT IT DID NOT TURN OVER. WE HAD TO PUT ON A CHARGER AND MONITOR THE BATTERY TO SEE IF IT WOULD CHARGE. LATER THAT NIGHT I TOOK THE VEHICLE OFF THE CHARGER AND TRIED IT AND IT STARTED. WENT AND HAD BATTERY CHECKED AT ADVANCE AUTO AND THEY SAID BATTERY HAS NO PROBLEMS FULLY CHARGED. HOW CAN THAT BE WHAT IS CAUSING THIS. I SEEN ONLINE MANY, MANY, COMPLAINTS ON THIS EQUINOX ISSUE AND IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. WHAT HAPPENS IF IT DECIDES TO JUST STOP WORKING ON THE INTERSTATE GOING 65-75 MPH. SOMEONE COULD GET SERIOUS INJURED KILLED IF THEY LOSE POWER ALL OF A SUDDEN. NO LIGHTS WERE LEFT ON, NOTHING WAS LEFT ON CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO DRAIN THE BATTERY ALL OF A SUDDEN. THE KEY WAS NOT LEFT IN THE VEHICLE I WENT TO START IT AND KEY STAYED STUCK IN IGNITION AND TURNED OVER BUT NOTHING NO POWER. IF YOU LOSE POWER DRIVING YOU LOSE POWER STEERING. POWER BRAKES, AND IT TAKES A WHILE TO GET VEHICLE TO A STOP. EVEN USING PARKING BRAKE WHICH MOST PEOPLE WOULD PANIC AND FORGET TO TRY N GET VEHICLE STOPPED AND CRASH INTO AND CARS OR PEDESTRIANS FOR THAT MATTER IF POWER GOES OUT WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. THIS NEED TO BE RECALLED AND FIGURE OUT WHAT IS CAUSING THIS PROBLEM. I HAD TO RECHARGE BATTERY MYSELF. IT CHECKED OUT AS GOOD BATTERY FULLY CHARGED? NO PREVIOUS INCIDENTS ON THIS MATTER THANK GOD. THE FUEL GAUGE DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY AND WILL JUST AT RANDOM SHOW OVER THE FULL MARK OR UNDER THE EMPTY MARK WHEN I HAVE PURCHASED FUEL ON THE SAME DAY. THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF THERE WAS A PERMANENT REMEDY TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THE ABS WOULD NEED TO BE FURTHER INSPECTED AND THAT THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED. LESS THAN 4,000 MILES DRIVEN AFTER I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS IT WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF 2ND GEAR. THE HEATER CORE ALSO EXPLODED ON THE WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP TO ASSESS THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES. AROUND 20-25,000 MILES AFTER PURCHASE THE ENGINE COOLANT TEMP GAUGE STOPPED REPORTING TEMPERATURES CORRECTLY AND WOULD REDLINE EVEN IF THE CAR WAS OFF FOR OVER 2 DAYS IT WOULD START UP WAY ABOVE THE NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE. THE FUEL GUAGE NO LONGER CORRECTLY INDICATES HOW MUCH GAS IS LEFT IN THE TANK AND WILL NOT MOVE OFF OF EMPTY EVEN AFTER PUMPING 13 GALLONS INTO THE TANK. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT A RED LIGHT WHEN HEATER CORE BLEW OUT. VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN DURING TRANSMISSION, TEMPERATURE, AND GAS GAUGE FAILURES.

ALSO THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE FUEL SYSTEM AND AT THE TIME I DID NOT HAVE A PROBLEM AS OF YET, ON 9/29/15 I THEN SMELLED THE GAS AND CALLED MK SMITH CHEVROLET TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS ON THIS AND THEY TOLD ME NO, SO I DID TAKE IT SOMEWHERE ELSE TO BE FIXED DUE TO IT BEING CHEAPER FOR ME AND GOT IT FIXED AND PAID $633.60. I HAVE DOCUMENT FOR THAT. NOW MY KEY IN THE IGNITION DOES NOT COME OUT AND I HEAR A CLICKING NOISE BY THE IGNITION I'M NOT SURE IF THAT AS WELL IS A RECALL ON THE EQUINOX 2007. I GOT THIS CAR FROM FREDERI K AUTO CENTER IN MARCH. EVER SINCE THEN I HAD PROBLEMS. I TOLD THEM I LET THEM. KNKW ABOUT THEM AND THEY ALWAYS SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT. I PURCHASED A 2007 CHEVY EQUINOX AT A CHEVY DEALERSHIP IN 2014. A COUPLE OF WEEKS AFTER PURCHASE I STARTED HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. IT WOULD SOMETIMES GET SO I COULD NOT PULL IT OUT OF THE IGNITION AFTER PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN PARK. I HAVE WAITED FOR A YEAR, BECAUSE I BELIEVED THE PROBLEM WOULD GET BETTER. THE PROBLEM HAS CONTINUED, AND IS SLOWLY GETTING WORSE. I HAVE EVEN TRIED DIFFERENT SETS OF KEYS TO SEE IF THAT MADE A DIFFERENCE, IT HAS NOT. IT DOES NOT MATTER IF THE VEHICLE IS PARKED ON A FLAT SERVICE OR ON AN INCLINE, THE KEY KEEPS GETTING STUCK IN THE IGNITION. I HAVE EVEN TAKEN ALL OTHER KEYS OFF THE KEY RING THINKING THAT WOULD MAKE A DIFFERENCE, IT DID NOT. THE ONLY WAY THAT I CAN GET THE KEY OUT IS BY SHAKING THE SHIFTER ON THE FLOOR AND WOBBLE THE STEERING WHEEL BACK AND FORTH. THAT DOES NOT ALWAYS WORK, SO SOMETIMES I HAVE TO TURN THE VEHICLE BACK ON AND OFF AGAIN TO GET IT TO COME OUT. AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE I NOTICED CONDENSATION IN THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT HEADLIGHT LENS AND I WAS TOLD BY THE SALESMAN AT THE TIME THAT IT WOULD "BURN OFF" IF I KEPT THE LIGHTS ON. SINCE THAT TIME BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER HEADLIGHTS HAVE DEVELOPED THE CONDENSATION ISSUE. THE CONDENSATION DOES NOT BURN OFF JUST KEEPS ACCUMULATING TO THE POINT WHERE THE HEADLIGHT BULB WOULD JUST BURN OUT. IT GETS WORSE WHEN I FILL UP WITH GAS AND TENDS TO MIRROR THE GAS GAUGE READING MOST OF THE TIME. 4. THE KEY WILL NOT COME OUT OF THE IGNITION WHEN TURNING OFF THE CAR. THIS IS EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK, TURN THE KEY OFF, THE ENGINE TURNS OFF BUT THE KEY WILL NOT COME OUT OF THE IGNITION. I HAVE ALSO HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH MY RADIO (ACTUALLY ALL SOUND IN THE CAR - INCLUDING TURN SIGNALS) THAT RANDOMLY JUST DONT WORK OR THAT WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED BLAST SOUND FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS BEFORE THE RADIO RETURNS TO NORMAL - BUT THE SIGNALS STILL PRODUCE A WIERD, SOMEWHAT ECHOING SOUND WHEN THEY DO CLICK. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER BUT THEY ARE UNABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM AND SEND ME ON MY WAY.

THEN THE LEFT TWEETER SPEAKER WAS CHANGED, THE RADIO RECALIBRATED (THREE TIMES), THE RADIO SOFTWARE UPDATED, AND FINALLY THE BODY CONTROL MODULE CHANGED. NONE OF THESE THINGS FIXED THE PROBLEM. THE GM ENGINEER LOOKED AT IT TWICE AND STILL COULDN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD NO OTHER GM PRODUCT IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AS MY VEHICLE. WHEN I WENT TO THE GENERAL MANAGER OF THE DEALERSHIP AND TOLD HIM OF THE PROBLEM AND THAT THE VEHICLE WAS A LEMON, HE CONTACTED THE GM DISTRICT REP, WHO REFUSED TO REPLACE THE VEHICLE. I WAS FORCED TO TAKE GM TO ARBITRATION, AND NOW I AM GETTING MY MONEY BACK PLUS MY FILING FEE. THE PROBLEM IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SIGNIFICANTLY IMPAIRS THE VALUE OF THE VEHICLE. I AM TURNING THE EQUINOX IN NEXT WEEK, TAKING MY MONEY AND BUYING A HONDA CR-V. I WOULD NOT ADVISE ANYONE TO BUY AN EQUINOX AFTER MY EXPERIENCE, AND ESPECIALLY GM'S ATTITUDE. IN FACT, I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER GM PRODUCT. IF YOU HAVE HAD YOUR EQUINOX TO THE DEALER AT LEAST 4 TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AND ARE STILL GETTING THE RUN AROUND AND NO RESOLUTION, FIRST WRITE TO THE CHEVY CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER FOR HELP IN REPAIRING THE VEHICLE. YOU WILL NEED TO DO THIS IN ORDER TO REQUEST A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE OR A REPURCHASE. SECOND, DON'T LET GM KEEP STRINGING YOU ALONG. FILE FOR ARBITRATION UNDER YOUR STATE'S LEMON LAW PROGRAM. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. EVER SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, THE CONTACT HEARD A TICKING SOUND IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. HE STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD POOR FUEL MILEAGE. THE CONTACT ALSO HAD TO JUMP FROM THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE SERPENTINE BELT CAUGHT A WIRE THAT WAS NOT IN A WIRING HARNESS AS IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN. THE CONTACT ALSO EXPERIENCED STABILATRAC FAILURE ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS, WHICH CAUSED THE POWER STEERING TO FAIL. HE HAS BEEN INJURED TWICE BECAUSE THE REAR HATCH DOOR STRUTS FAILED AND STRUCK HIM IN THE HEAD. THE TIRES THAT CAME ON THE VEHICLE WERE SEVERELY WORN AND THE TURN SIGNALS WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. THE TWO FRONT DOORS AND THE REAR HATCH DOOR CRACKS AND MAKES SQUEAKING NOISES. SOME REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE; HOWEVER, THE REAR HATCH NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED ALONG WITH THE TICKING SOUND IN THE ENGINE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 26,000.

THE PASSENGER AIR BAG ONLY COMES ON NOW & THEN. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE GARAGE NUMEROUS TIMES. I'VE EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENS. ALSO HAVE ISSUE WITH WIPES WORK, THEN NOT, BLINKERS WORK THEN NOT, BLINKERS DOUBLE CLICK. RADIO GETS REAL LOUD SOMETIMES, BEEPS WHEN DOOR OPEN REAL LOUD. HAVE REPLACED 3 BATTERIES & TWO STARTERS. BUT EVERYTIME IN GARAGE, HEAR "NOTHING WRONG". I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY CAR. I'M AFRAID IF I GET IN ACCIDENT MY AIR BAG WONT WORK. ALL THIS STARTED SIX MONTHS AFTER BOUGHT CAR. *TR

I HAD 2 CHEVY EQUINOX 2007 MODEL, LOADED. FIRST VEHICLE REPURCHASED DUE TO MULTIPLE EPISODES OF STABILITRAK FAILURE, TURN SIGNALS QUIT WORKING, RADIO PROBLEMS, PASSENGER SYSTEM AIRBAG NOT WORKING, AND FINALLY FAILURE OF MAIN AIRBAG SYSTEM. GIVEN EXACT TWIN OF FIRST CAR, AS THOUGHT THAT CAR WAS JUST A LEMON. 2ND EQUINOX HAD 2 EPISODES OF STABILITRAK FAILURE, AND A NEW STEERING COLUMN PLACED, AND THEN HAD TOTAL SYSTEM FAILURE OF THE STEERING, BRAKES, GAS, STABILITRAK, AND AIRBAG SYSTEM WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. I HAD ABSOLUTELY NO CONTROL OVER ANY OF THESE SYSTEMS! YOU COULD TURN MY STEERING WHEEL 360 DEGREES, AND THE WHEELS NEVER MOVED, THE BRAKES DIDN'T WORK, THE GAS DIDN'T WORK, AND ALL ALARMS WERE GOING OFF THAT THE SYSTEMS, INCLUDING THE AIRBAGS WERE NOT WORKING. LUCKILY, NO ONE WAS INJURED AS I HAD JUST BEGUN MAKING A TURN INTO ROADWAY AND ALL VEHICLES COMING AT ME BOTH WAYS WERE ABLE TO SWERVE, AND THE CAR WAS GOING SLOW ENOUGH AND OVER A SLIGHT INCLINE THAT IT ROLLED TO A STOP JUST BEFORE HITTING A STEEL LIGHT POST. THIS CAR WAS ALSO REPURCHASED. SOMETHING IS VERY WRONG IN THE ENGINEERING OF THIS VEHICLE AND I AM CONCERNED FOR ALL THE OTHER PEOPLE OWNING/DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. *TR

MY TRIP ODOMETER KEEPS RESETTING ON ITS OWN, WHEN YOUR GOING DOWN THE ROAD. ALSO MY CAR SOUNDS LIKE IT IS TAKING OFF WHEN STARTED THE FIRST TIME DURING THE DAY. I WAS TOLD IT WILL WARM UP AND GO AWAY. BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE THE EXHAUST IS FALLING OFF OR SOMETHING. I THINK THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE COMPUTER SINCE IT HAS BEEN.
