DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD MY POWER ENGINE LITE COMES ON AND ACTS LIKE IT IS GOING TO CUT OFF , SOME TIMES IT DOES. MY ABS LITE COMES ON AT ANYTIME, WHEN COMING TO A STOP MY BRAKES SLIP AND ACTS LIKE IT DOES NOT WANT TO CATCH, BRAKES ARE NEW! ALSO THE 2010 USES ABOUT 4 TO 5 QT IN BETWEEN OIL CHANGES AND THERE IS NO LEAKS. DEFOGGER DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. AND KNOW HAVING ENGINE PROBLEMS. HAVE CHANGED THE O2 SENSOR STILL SAYS THEY NEED TO BE CHANGED, HAVE CHANGED THE MANIFOLD AND SAYS THAT STILL NEEDS O BE CHANGED, ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON. A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO I STARTED EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH VEHICLE. AT SPEEDS OVER 60 THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD SHAKE AND WHEN COMING TO A STOP THE CAR WOULD DO A ROCKING MOTION. TODAY ON THE HIGHWAY THE CAR WAS DRIVING FINE THAN RANDOMLY A LIGHT POPPED ON THAT SAID LOW OIL CONSUMPTION TURN OFF ENGINE AND THE CAR BEGAN EXCESSIVELY SMOKING FROM UNDER HOOD. I PULLED OVER AND CHECKED I THE OIL AND IT WAS EMPTY ADDED 4 QUARTS IT WAS STILL EMPTY LOOKED UNDER CAR AND OIL HAD LEAKED EVERYWHERE. NO PRIOR WARNING LIGHTS OR CHECK OIL OR LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHTS WERE ON. I GET PROPER OIL CHANGES WHEN DUE. A COUPLE OF MOTHS BACK I WAS HAVING SEVERAL ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE AS WELL WERE THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH WOULD POP ON AND OFF AIR AND RADIO WOULD TURN ITSELF ON AND OFF, DOORS LOCKING AND UNLOCKING ETC. AND TOOK IT TO A CERTIFIED CHEVY DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED AND HAVE THE ISSUE FIXED AND THESE ISSUES WERE MONTHS AFTER I HAD THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED AFTER IT FAILS MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR. *TR

2 DAYS AFTER DRIVING THIS 2010 CHEVY EQUINOX OFF THE LOT. THE POWER STEERING PUMP GOES OUT. THE POWER STEERING HAD A WINDING NOISE SINCE IT WAS REPLACED, AND THEY TOLD ME THERE MAY JUST BE AIR IN THE LINE. AFTER RIVING IT THAT WAY FOR A MONTH TOOK IT IN TO GET THAT LOOKED AT AND THEY ENDED UP REPLACING THAT AND SAID IT WAS A FAULTY PUMP. THEN DAYS LATER ONE OF THE TIRE SENSORS GOES OUT. HAD THAT REPLACED! THEN A FEW HOURS AFTER DRIVING IT THAT SAME TIRE SENSOR GOES OUT AGAIN. THIS IS THE WORST VEHICLE THAT GENERAL MOTORS AS MADE!!!!! IT HAD NEW TIRES WHEN WE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE AND NOT EVEN 8 MONTHS THE TWO REAR TIRES WERE MAKING THE REAR END SLIDE ALL OVER THE ROAD AND AFTER INVESTIGATING THE PROBLEM I FOUND THE TWO REAR TIRES HAD WIRES SHOWING ON THE INSIDE OF THE WHEEL TREAD ALL THE WAY AROUND THE WHEELS. TAKE IT IN AND THE MECHANIC SAID IT WAS BECAUSE WE DIDN'T HAVE A TIRE ROTATION! WELL, AFTER REPLACING THE TIRES, THEN 6 MONTHS DOWN THE ROAD THE NEW TIRES ARE IN THE EXACT SAME PLACE JUST ON THE REAR TIRES. THERE IS NO WAY THAT YOU NEED TO HAVE A TIRE ROTATION THAT OFTEN. HAD THEM REPLACED ONCE AGAIN. THE HEAT STOPPED WORKING AND ONLY BLOWS COLD AIR! FOUND OUT THAT THESE VEHICLES ARE KNOWN FOR THIS ISSUE. THAT SENSOR UP UNDER THE GLOVE BOX ISN'T STRONG ENOUGH TO OPEN/CLOSE THE VENT TO KEEP REGULATING THE HEAT CONTROL. NOW, THE 2ND SET OF TIRES HAVE THE SAME WIRES GOING AROUND THE TIRES!!!!! MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE! IF, GM DOESN'T DO SOMETHING ABOUT THESE ISSUES THEY ARE GOING TO BE FACING A LOT OF LAWSUITS OR CUSTOMERS GOING ELSEWHERE. NOW THE WIPERS STOPPED WORKING AND LIKE THE CONTROL ARMS FELL OFF UNDER THE OUTER DASH AREA!!!! TAKE THESE VEHICLES STRAIGHT TO THE JUNKYARDS. OH, AND THE STABILITY TRAC CONTROL ISSUE HAS HAPPENED AS WELL WERE THE VEHICLE LOSES ALL POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF A FOUR-LANE FREEWAY!!!

RPM AND SPEEDOMETER ARE AT ZERO WHILE DRIVING AND ACCELERATING, GAS HAND SHOWS ON LOW FUEL WHEN THERE'S GAS ON THE CAR. TOOK TO HAVE VEHICLE SCANNED AND ALTERNATOR IS READING AT TOO HIGH VOLTAGE AND REVIVED 15 ERROR CODES ALL RELATING TO SPEED SENSOR, ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODEL MALFUNCTION, POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE AND CAMSHAFT POSITION CIRCUIT ERRORS ETC.

I BOUGHT MY USED 2010 CHEVY EQUINOX FROM THE DEALER, AND 2 WEEKS LATER THE SERVICE STABILITRAK LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, THEY DID AN ALIGNMENT AND THE SAME DAY THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON WITH TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT. THE NEXT DAY I WENT TO THE GROCERY STORE, AND WHEN I TRIED TO START IT TO LEAVE IT WOULDN'T START. AFTER 2 TRIES, IT FINALLY STARTED BUT THEN THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT CAME ON AND WOULDN'T GO ABOVE 25 MPH. EVENTUALLY THE VEHICLE POWERED DOWN AND I HAD TO PULL OVER FOR A TOW TRUCK TO COME. THE CHEVY DEALER SAID IT WAS THE MAIN TIMING CHAIN (NOT COVERED) AND SOMETHING ELSE IN THE ENGINE BUT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR LABOR TO DISASSEMBLE IT. MY CAR HAS BEEN OUT OF SERVICE AND SITTING AT THE DEALER FOR NOW 10 DAYS. LUCKILY I WASN'T ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED, AND DECIDED TO GO TO THE STORE BEFORE HEADING TO WORK. CARFAX REPORTS INDICATE THE TIMING CHAIN AND FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED AT 40,000 MILES ALREADY. I SEE A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH THIS PROBLEM IN MUCH SCARIER SITUATIONS. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL BEFORE SOMETHING HAPPENS.

VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH WHEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, MESSAGE THEN APPEARED THAT ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED AND SPEED IMMEDIATELY DROPPED TO AROUND 15 MPH AND THEN TO A ROUGH IDLE AT APPROX 5-10MPH. WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY VEHICLE TRAVELING BEHIND ME. I WAS ABLE TO LIMP REMAINING 2 MILES HOME AND CONTACTED DEALER. APPOINTMENT WAS MADE AND DEALER REPORTED CODE P2135 AND REPLACED THROTTLE BODY..DEALER SAID THROTTLE DIDN'T KNOW UP FROM DOWN. DEALER STATED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE EQUINOX. I HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE WITH OTHER OWNERS REPORTING BEING PUT IN A DANGEROUS POSITION WITH THE SUDDEN DROP IN SPEED LIKE WE WERE. I CONTACTED CHEVY GM AND THEY SAID THERE WERE NO RECALLS. IF RAPID ACCELERATION HAS BEEN TREATED BY OTHER COMPANIES AS RECALL WORTHY, I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY CHEVY DOES NOT CONSIDER THIS RECALL WORTHY. I HAVE ATTACHED THE REPAIR REPORT WITH THIS COMPLAINT.

TURNED OFF VEHICLE, THEN TURNED KEY AND IT STARTED LONG ENOUGH TO DRIVE INTO NEAREST PARKING LOT. HAD TO PRESS GAS PEDDLE ALL THE WAY DOWN AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT REVERSE AT AT. TOW TRUCK WAS CALLED AND TOWED TO LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP. IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEMS DUE TO THE 2010 ENGINE THAT IT WAS BUILT WITH. WAS ADVISED TO KEEP WATCH ON OIL UNTIL DECIDE HOW TO FIX ENGINE.

SECOND TIME, I WAS TURNING INTO BUSY INTERSECTION AND CAR COMPLETELY STALLED, TURNED OFF KEY AND RESTARTED CAR AND IT WOULD NOT DRIVE OVER 20 MILES AN HOUR SO PULLED INTO PARKING LOT AND WHEEL WAS VERY HARD TO CONTROL. CAR WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE. WAS LEFT STRANDED ON SIDE OF ROAD AND HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO CHEVY. HAS OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUES BUT RECENTLY PURCHASED CAR AND PASSED DATE FOR RECALLS AND WARRANTY REPAIR. GM NEEDS TO OFFER ALL PREVIOUS EXPIRED TO PEOPLE SUCH AS MYSELF WHO PURCHASE USED VEHICLES THAT WERE NEVER CORRECTED DURING RECALL TIMES.ALSO MY VIN WAS NOT LISTED IN RECALL BUT HAS THE EXACT ISSUES. THIS CAR BURNS OIL FAST AND I LEARNED THE HARD WAY. 2 YEARS AFTER BUYING THE CAR ALL THE PISTONS IN THE ENGINE BENT DUE TO LACK OF OIL. WHEN THE CAR WAS GETTING FIXED THE MECHANIC SAID IT WAS BONE DRY AND I HAD JUST HAD AN OIL CHANGE 2 MONTHS PRIOR. $3,200 LATER THE CAR WAS FIXED, BUT IT STILL HAD ISSUES SHIFTING. IN COLDER WEATHER THE CAR FELT LIKE IT WOULD BARELY MOVE. I HAD NO REAL MECHANICAL ISSUES UNTIL A YEAR LATER. I HAD DRIVEN IT 45 MILES AND STOPPED AT A GAS STATION, WHEN I WENT TO TURN THE CAR BACK ON ALL OF THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS CAME ON AS WELL AS THE 'STABILITRAK' LIGHT AND THE CAR WOULDN'T MOVE. THE ONLY WAY I COULD GET IT TO MOVE WAS BY TURNING THE TRACTION OFF, AND WAS THANKFULLY ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME. I GOT IT INTO THE GM DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE STABILITY TRACK AND THE CRANKSHAFT NEEDED REPLACED. MY ABS LIGHT WAS STILL FAILING AND I'M TOTAL IT WAS ANOTHER $1,400 OF WORK. NOW THE ENGINE SEEMS TO BE MAKING A CRANKING NOISE. I'M TIRED OF WASTING MONEY ON THIS PIECE OF JUNK!!!!!

I RECENTLY BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USE IT WAS WONDERING WHY THE OWNER GOT RID OF IT NOW I KNOW. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A PROBLEM WITH THE HILL ASSIST ON THIS VEHICLE AND I HAVE SEEN COMPLAINTS ON THE FORM THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND NOT KNOWN WHAT IT WAS. THE PROBLEM I'M HAVING IS WHEN THE HILL ASSIAT ENGAGE'S IT WILL NOT DISENGAGE LIKE IT'S SUPPOSED TO. I ACTUALLY HAD TO HAVE A MECHANIC RESET THE WHOLE COMPUTER TO GET IT TO DISENGAGE THE OTHER DAY AND REMOVE THE BATTERY TERMINAL TODAY TO GET A DISENGAGED. I EVEN CALLED THE DEALER TODAY AT THEY WEREN'T AWARE OF ANY PROBLEMS THEY HAD NO IDEA WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT CONVENIENT. SEVERAL MECHANICS KNOW BUT THE DEALER DOESN'T WANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM AND THEY WANT ME TO PAY TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED. I'VE ALREADY DIAGNOSED IT, I JUST WANT TOKNOW WHAT THE FIX IS. IN ADDITION, NOW THE ENGINE IS COMPLETELY SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING IT AND I MUST COAST TO THE SIDE IF THE ROAD!!!! I PURCHASED THIS CAR AS USED. WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT IT THERE WAS A TICKING SOUND THAT COULD BARELY BE HEARD. THE DEALER SAID THAT WAS COMMON. FOR VEHICLES SITTING IN THE LOT. WAS DRIVING VEHICLE WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN ENTIRE DASH LIT UP AND CAR STALLED. MESSAGES INCLUDED SERVICE STABILITRAK, SERVICE ABS, ENGINE LIGHT, AND SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL. I LOST POWER, POWER BRAKES, AND POWER STEERING AND COASTED VEHICLE TO A STOP. IT TOOK A COUPLE OF TRIES BUT FINALLY GOT THE CAR TO TURN OVER, ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON BUT DROVE TO DEALER. VEHICLE DID NOT DRIVE CORRECTLY WHEN ACCELERATED, IT WAS SLOW AND JERKY. WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, THEY PLUGGED IN THEIR TECH CODE READER AND DETERMINED IT WAS THROTTLE BODY. I WAS GIVEN A CONCIERGE VEHICLE AND INFORMED IT WOULD TAKE THEM THE WEEKEND TO FIX. WHEN I PICKED THE VEHICLE UP THEY CHARGED ME SAYING THAT IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY AND TRIED TO MAKE ME PAY FOR THE RENTAL AND I HAVE STILL NOT BEEN REIMBURSED FOR THE REPAIRS THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER WARRANTY OR THE RENTAL CAR. THE SERVICE AGENT AT THE DEALERSHIP PRINTED OFF WHERE IT CLEARLY STATES THAT IT SHOULD BE COVERED. THIS IS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR

SERVICE STABILITRAK LIGHT COME ON. SERVICE ENGINE LIGHTS COME ON. ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED. THE VEHICLE ENGINE DIED RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT AND TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE. THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY "ACTUAL" PROBLEM. SO THEY RESET ALL THE CODES. IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN. I STARTED HEARING A KNOCKING NOISE AT 28000 MILES. HAD SERVICED BUT AFTER SEVERAL MILES NOISE STARTED AGAIN. NOISE CONTINUES SO SERVICE IS NEEDED(10-2-13). I HAD SEVERAL GASKETS, SEAL, BOLTS,FUEL PUMP(WHICH WAS LEAKING RAW FUEL INTO INSIDE OF ENGINE), BALANCE CHAIN, TIMING CHAIN, GUIDE FOR TIMING CHAIN(WHICH GUIDE AND DEBRIS FELL IN OIL PAN), AND TWO TENSIONER REPLACED AS WELL AS OIL LIFE MONITOR RECALL UPDATE. HERE I AM NEARLY 3 MONTHS LATER AND MY 2010 EQUINOX IS IN SHOP(12-31-13) AND CAN'T BE DRIVEN DO TO LOUD NOISES, LOSE OF POWER FUEL AND OIL, AS WELL AS STALLING AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEING ON CONTINUALLY. I DID EXTENSIVE RESEARCH AND FOUND THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WITH SAME YEAR AND MODEL EQUINOX AS MINE TO BE HAVING SAME PROBLEMS AS MINE AT SAME MILEAGE. I FOUND THAT THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE OF DAMAGE DONE BY LEAKING FUEL PUMP. SO NO MATTER WHAT WORK IS DONE OR WHAT IS REPLACED PROBLEMS STILL KEEP HAPPENING BECAUSE DAMAGE IS ALL READY DONE TO INSIDE OF ENGINE AND THE ENTIRE ENGINE SHOULD BE REPLACED. PLEASE HELP, THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM THAT EFFECTS THOUSANDS AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE FOR US OWNERS. THOSE WHO ARE LUCKY TO GET THEIR ENGINE REPLACED DON'T GET AN ACCURATE WARRANTY AND AFTER SEVERAL MILES THE NEW ENGINE STARTS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. PLEASE HELP!! *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH, THE STABILITY TRACK WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL JERK SENSATION. THE CONTACT SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND WHEN RESTARTING, THE WARNING LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A RESPONSE FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 6,480.
