When I turn off my Chevrolet Equinox and leave the key in the ignition the vehicle attempts to restart itself numerous times. The lights on the dash all come on for a brief moment and you can hear it act like it’s going to start but then everything cuts off a second later. This has occurred everytime I turn my vehicle off and do not remove the key. I am always sitting in the vehicle when the key is in the ignition.

VEHICLE IS BURNING ASTRONOMICAL AMOUNTS OF OIL, EVEN WHEN CAR IS SITTING. CAR RUNS ROUGH AND IDLES AND ACTS AS IF IT WILL STALL OUT. THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS HAVE COME ON. CAR ACTS LIKE IT WON'T START AND TAKES A FEW TIMES BEFORE IT ACTUALLY STARTS UP. HAVE REPLACED SO MANY PARTS AND OF COURSE AT 155,000 MILES FOR A 2010 EQUINOX WE DON'T QUALIFY UNDER THE PENDING LAWSUIT. CAR IS PARKED BECAUSE IT USES SO MUCH OIL.

THE AUTOMOTIVE TROUBLE CODE P2135 THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSOR/SWITCH A/B VOLTAGE CORRELATION REFERS TO A PROBLEM RELATED TO THE THROTTLE'S ABILITY TO OPEN AND CLOSE PROPERLY. ... A THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR (TPS) IS SITUATED OPPOSITE THE THROTTLE LINKAGE CONNECTION ON THE THROTTLE PLATE. WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN AN ALARM WENT OFF ON MY DASH SAYING A SENSOR WAS BAD. NEXT THING THE CAR SAID LOSING POWER TO ENGINE AND MY CAR STARTED SHAKING AND DECELERATING.

I BOUGHT MY USED 2010 CHEVY EQUINOX FROM THE DEALER, AND 2 WEEKS LATER THE SERVICE STABILITRAK LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, THEY DID AN ALIGNMENT AND THE SAME DAY THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON WITH TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT. THE NEXT DAY I WENT TO THE GROCERY STORE, AND WHEN I TRIED TO START IT TO LEAVE IT WOULDN'T START. AFTER 2 TRIES, IT FINALLY STARTED BUT THEN THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT CAME ON AND WOULDN'T GO ABOVE 25 MPH. EVENTUALLY THE VEHICLE POWERED DOWN AND I HAD TO PULL OVER FOR A TOW TRUCK TO COME. THE CHEVY DEALER SAID IT WAS THE MAIN TIMING CHAIN (NOT COVERED) AND SOMETHING ELSE IN THE ENGINE BUT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR LABOR TO DISASSEMBLE IT. MY CAR HAS BEEN OUT OF SERVICE AND SITTING AT THE DEALER FOR NOW 10 DAYS. LUCKILY I WASN'T ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED, AND DECIDED TO GO TO THE STORE BEFORE HEADING TO WORK. CARFAX REPORTS INDICATE THE TIMING CHAIN AND FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED AT 40,000 MILES ALREADY. I SEE A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH THIS PROBLEM IN MUCH SCARIER SITUATIONS. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL BEFORE SOMETHING HAPPENS.

AS THIS SEEMS TO BE A FREQUENT AND KNOWN DEFECT THAT CAN CAUSE DEATH IF NOT FOUND AND FIXED I BELIEVE THAT CHEVY SHOULD ACKNOWLEDGE THE SAFETY CONCERN AND ISSUE A RECALL RATHER THAN WAITING TO SEE PEOPLE PASS AWAY BECAUSE THEY CAN'T AFFORD OR ARE UNAWARE OF THE DANGER

BEFORE REALIZING THAT THE OIL WAS AN ISSUE, MY CAR WOULD AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING- SOMETIMES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION.

THE HEAT AND AIR WILL NOT WORK FOR LONG AND SHORT PERIODS OF TIME. THERE IS A TICKING SOUND, BUT THE HEAT OR AIR WON'T WORK. VEHICLE CAN BE STATIONARY, IN MOTION, HIGHWAY SPEEDS, SIDE STREET SPEEDS, TURNING, STRAIGHT, IT DOESN'T MATTER. IN GOING TO DESTINATION HEAT STOPPED AND COLD AIR BLEW. THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING ISSUE FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS. DEALER SAYS NOT CODING OR STORING CODES. MAIN COMPUTER DOESN'T SENSE THE PROBLEM. ACTUATORS RECALIBRATED ON FRIDAY, IT REOCCURRED ON SATURDAY. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE CONTROL SYSTEM BRAIN BUT DEALER UNWILLING TO DO REPAIRS. 2010 AND 2011 WERE THE WORST YEARS FOR ISSUES IN THESE VEHICLES. MANY COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUES. DEALER SAYS THEY CAN'T FIX IT IF IT DOESN'T DISPLAY CODES ACCORDING TO MY ALMOST $4000 WARRANTY SERVICE CONTRACT. I LOVE MY EQUINOX BUT I NEED IT FIXED AND WORKING. BROUGHT IT INTO DEALER ON FRIDAY, INTAKE PERSON ACTUALLY FELT THE FRIGID AIR COMING FROM BLOWER. NO AMOUNT OF FLIPPING SWITCHES, TURNING KNOBS OR PUSHING BUTTONS CORRECT THIS ISSUE. STILL THEY DON'T FIX IT BECAUSE OF NO CODES. I SAY MAIN COMPUTER IS MALFUNCTIONING BECAUSE IT DOESN'T SENSE THE PROBLEM THEREFORE IT DOESN'T SHOW CODES. MY ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON I TAKE CAR TO GM DEALER AND THEY TELL ME I NEED A CATALYTIC CONVERTER, THEY DIDN'T TELL ME THAT THERE WAS A SPECIAL SERVICE COVER FOR THE PART, WHEN I CALLED THEM BACK ABOUT IT THE TELL ME THAT ME CAR WAS OUT OF THE MILE PART OF THE COVERAGE AND THAT IT WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT MYSELF, I CALL GM AND SPOKE TO A LADY NAME ADREA AND SHE INFORMS ME THE SAME THING I TOLD HER I NEVER RECEIVED ANY THING IN THE MAIL CONCERNING IS COVERAGE, SHE SAID THE MAILED THEM OUT MARCH 2017, I ASKED IF SHE WAS ABLE TO TELL IF THERE WAS ONE SENT TO MY ADDRESS SHE COULD NOT. THIS PART IS SHOULD HAVE NEVER BE A SPECIAL SERVICE COVERAGE, BECAUSE IT IS A ENVIRONMENT ISSUES, THIS CAR IS 7 YEARS OLD. SO I HAVE BEEN GOING BACK AND FORTH TRYING TO GET GM TO FIX THIS.

SO I NEEDED TO GET IT FIXED ASAP. I GOOGLED TO SEE IF THERE IS ANY RECALL OR WARRANTY EXTENSION ON THIS PART SO I CAN TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THERE WAS NO RECALL OR WARRANTY EXTENSION ON THIS PART. I RESEARCHED ONLINE AND CAME ACROSS COMPLAINS FROM OTHER CHEVY OWNERS REGARDING THIS ISSUE (COMPLAINS SEEN ONLINE). I CONTACTED CHEVY TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS ISSUE AS WELL AS SEE IF THEY WOULD REIMBURSE THE MONEY I SPENT ON THIS REPAIR (OVER $600) AND THEY TOLD ME I SHOULD HAVE TAKEN IT TO THEIR DEALERSHIP WHERE IN REALITY WOULD HAVE COST ME MORE THAN $1000 IF THERE IS NO RECALL OR WARRANTY EXTENSION ON THIS PART (THE CHEVY FOLKS ARE AWARE THAT THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS PART). I BELIEVE THIS IS A HEALTH HAZARD FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND DRIVE AROUND WITH A CRACKED EXHAUST MANIFOLD COVER BECAUSE THEY CANNOT AFFORD TO MAKE THAT EXPENSIVE REPAIR. BOTH HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING TEMPERATURE IS FLUXUATES ON IT'S OWN. UNABLE TO GET ENOUGH HEAT OR COOL WHEN OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE IS QUITE COLD OR QUITE WARM.
WASN'T INFORMED ABOUT THE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. LETTER NEVER MADE IT TO MY HOUSE. EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION HAS CAUSED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER TO FAIL PREMATURELY . CHEVY ISSUED A SPECIAL WARRANTY BUT IT DISQUALIFIES YOU IF YOU HAVE MORE 120K MILES. CHEVY HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS ISSUES SINCE 2011 BUT INTENTIONALLY WAITED TO ISSUE SPECIAL BULLETIN BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO DISQUALIFY AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE.. THE SERVICE REP TOLD ME SINCE I DIDN'T PAY THE PREVIOUS REPAIR (WHICH WERE MANUFACTURER DEFECTS) THAT I AM BASICALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS. THIS CAR HAS HAD OVER 4 MAJOR REPAIRS THAT WERE DUE TO MANUFACTURER DEFECTS BUT THE REP IS SAYING THAT SINCE I'M THE ORIGINAL OWNER THEY WON'T ASSIST ME. I TOLD HER THE ISSUE IS WITH THE CAR, IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE OWNERSHIP WHICH IS WHY YOU'RE ISSUING ALL THE SPECIAL WARRANTIES. NONE OF THE MAJOR REPAIRS THAT WERE DONE ON THIS CAR ARE LISTED IN THE VEHICLE HISTORY REPORT ON CARFAX OR ON THE GM OWNER SITE WHERE IT STATES THAT SUCH REPORTS WILL APPEAR. I GOT THE SERVICE REPORT FROM THE DEALERSHIP WHEN I SAW THE SALES ASSOCIATE WITH IT. I TOLD THE REP HAD THE INFORMATION ABOUT THE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION BEEN LISTED ON MY CHEVY PROFILE I WOULD HAVE HAD THE ISSUE FIXED THUS SAVING THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. SHE STILL CLAIMED IT WAS SENT. THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS NEED TO BE RECALLED WITHOUT EXCEPTION. HONDA REPLACED MY CRACKED MY ENGINE BLOCK NO QUESTIONS ASKED! THEY HAVE HONORED EVER WARRANTY I'VE EVER HAD AND FIXED EVERY MANUFACTURER DEFECT WITHOUT DRAMA. I CANNOT SAY THAT ABOUT CHEVY. THEY HAVE CAUSED ME NOTHING BUT STRESS OVER ISSUES THEY CREATED AND HAVE GOTTEN AWAY WITH IT AND TODAY I JUST LEARNED THAT MY CAR NOW HAS A FUEL PUMP RECALL.
WAVE PLATE THE WAVE PLATE BLEW UP IN OUR TRANSMISSION LEAVING US WITH A $5000 BILL ON A VEHICLE WITH ONLY 76000 MILES. THE WAVE PLATE ON 2010 CHEVY EQUINOX'S HAS BEEN RECALLED BY SPECIFIC VIN NUMBERS BY GM BUT FOR WHATEVER REASON MY VIN IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. IT SHOULD BE AND I SHOULDNT BE PAYING A 5000$ BILL. I HAVE FINALLY CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY ARE TELLING ME THEY MAY NOT COVER IT UNDER THE WARRANTY.
35R WAVE TORQUE CONVERTOR/TRANSMISSION - DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY ALL OF A SUDDEN GAS PEDAL WOULD NOT ACCELERATE NO SPEED, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I ALMOST GOT HIT BY A CAR AND HAD TO SHIFT MY CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND GLIDE IT TO THE SHOULDER LANE. GM HAS KNOWN ABOUT THE ISSUE FOR QUITE A WHILE WITH THE WAVE PLAT TORQUE CONVERTOR AND TRANSMISSION AND HAS NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE RECALL. MY CAR HAS VERY PRISTINE AND REGULAR MAINTENANCE WITH ONLY 70,000 MILES ON IT. I AM ACTIVE DUTY AND I DO NOT WANT OTHER LIVES TO BE IN DANGER. THERE ARE MANY POSTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE DUPLICATING MY ISSUE EXACTLY THE SAME AND GM HAS NOT TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. I WAS TOLD I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION.

FIRST FEW TIMES, THE MECHANICS COULD NOT GET THE PROBLEM TO DUPLICATE. ONE OF THOSE TIMES, THEY THOUGHT THE BATTERY CAUSED IT AND SAID IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ANYWAY BC IT WAS WEAK - I DID THAT. ANOTHER TIME, THEY SAID IT WAS BC SOME STUFF HAD SPILLED DOWN IN THERE WHERE THE SHIFTER CABLES WERE, SO THEY CLEANED AND REWIRED IT. STILL ANOTHER TIME THEY SAID A COMPUTER PART WAS SENDING WEAK SIGNALS, SO THEY REPLACED THAT. THE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED ONCE, THEN AGAIN BC ONE OF THE PARTS WAS DEEMED DEFECTIVE. THIS LAST VISIT (DEC 2015), THEY SAID IT WAS BAD WIRING FROM THE ECM THAT CAUSED IT. SOME OF THESE SERVICE/DIAGNOSTIC FEES & THE COST OF TOWING HAVE BEEN WAIVED OR REIMBURSED, OTHERS HAVE NO. NONE OF THE ISSUES SPECIFICALLY "RELATED" TO THE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY WERE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY OR RECALL. SO AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, I HAVE BEEN OUT AT LEAST $500-700 OVER THESE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS. HUGE INCONVENIENCES - BEING STUCK AT WORK AT THE END OF THE DAY OR AT HOME AS I'M READY TO LEAVE FOR WORK. I AM PLANNING TO TRADE THIS CAR IN WITHIN THE NEXT MONTH OR TWO. I WAS ACCELERATING AND HEARD A "POP".THOUGHT A TIRE BLEW, SAW WHITE SMOKE ON THE SIDES OF THE CAR AND PULLED OVER. MY BOYFRIEND GOT OUT IMMEDIATELY TO LOOK FOR A BLOWN TIRE. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK, SHUT OFF THE IGNITION AND BLACK SMOKE BEGAN POURING INTO THE CAR. I KNEW THERE WAS NOT A BLOWN TIRE AND YELLED FOR BOYFRIEND TO HELP GET OUR TWO YOUNG CHILDREN OUT OF THE CAR. OPENED THE BACK DOOR AND COULDN'T SEE THE KIDS DUE TO ALL OF THE BLACK SMOKE AND ENTIRE FRONT END WAS ON FIRE WITHIN SECONDS. I GOT THE KIDS TO SAFETY AND THE CAR PROCEEDED TO BLOW UP THREE SEPARATE TIMES IN WELL UNDER 10 MINUTES. THE MAN DRIVING BEHIND US HELPED AND STATED TO ME THAT FUEL WAS LEAKING FROM THE CAR WHILE HE DROVE BEHIND US PRIOR TO THE "POP" WE HEARD. IT WAS A TOTAL LOSS, NO POLICE REPORT DESPITE HIGHWAY BEING SHUT DOWN FOR A HOUR AND DETECTIVES SHOWING UP LATER. INSURANCE COMPANY WASN'T GOING TO INVESTIGATE, I GOT GM INVOLVED AND NOW THEY MIGHT. WAS GIVEN A CASE # BY GM, CALLED TWICE, NO RESPONSE BACK FOR 6 DAYS. I WANT TO KNOW THE CAUSE OF THIS. 5 YEAR OLD PERFECTLY MAINTAINED CARS WITH NO WARNING SHOULD NOT CATCH FIRE AND BLOW UP. I SAW AN ARTICLE ABOUT A MAN IN CONNECTICUT WITH A SIMILAR INCIDENT AND HIS WAS RELATED TO A REGIONAL RECALL THAT DID NOT INCLUDE THAT STATE. I LIVE IN WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA AND QUESTION IF THIS COULD BE ASSOCIATED. THE CAR COULD HAVE KILLED OUR CHILDREN AND HARMED INNOCENT PEOPLE ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. WE WERE FORTUNATE TO HAVE GOOD PEOPLE HELP US AND REACT SO QUICKLY. THE STATE POLICE OFFICER HAD US LEAVE IMMEDIATELY TO CATCH OUR FLIGHT AND TOLD US THERE WAS NOTHING WE COULD DO AND THEY HAD THE CAR TOWED. WE WERE UNABLE TO GET THE NAMES OF TWO MEN THAT HELPED DUE TO SHOCK AND BELIEF THAT THERE WOULD BE A POLICE REPORT.

WHEN I WENT TO APPLY THE BRAKE, I FELT AS THOUGH MY CAR WAS NOT DECELERATING ENOUGH BASED ON THE PRESSURE I WAS APPLYING TO THE BRAKE. I QUICK CHECKED MY SIDE MIRROR- I WAS UNABLE TO GO AROUND THE DRIVER BECAUSE A CAR WAS NEXT TO ME AND I CHECKED MY REARVIEW MIRROR TO ENSURE I WAS NOT GOING TO BE REAR-ENDED AS WELL- KNOWING I WAS TOO CLOSE AND GOING TO COLLIDE WITH THE TRUCK DRIVER AT THIS POINT. I APPLIED AS MUCH PRESSURE AS I COULD TO THE BRAKES TO DECELERATE BUT UNFORTUNATELY STILL COLLIDED WITH THE DRIVER. MY AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY- DESPITE THIS, IT ALLOWED ME TO SEE MY MIRRORS IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE INCIDENT SO THAT I COULD SAFELY COAST TO THE SHOULDER OF THE PA TURNPIKE WITHOUT DISRUPTING TRAFFIC. MY 2 CONCERNS: WAS BRAKING FAULTY WHEN CRUISE CONTROL IS ENGAGED? ALSO- MY AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.

THESE TWO PROBLEMS ARE CLOSELY RELATED BUT CHEVY REFUSES TO ISSUE A RECALL. IF YOU ARE DRIVING YOUR FAMILY AT 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CHAIN BREAKS BECAUSE IT LACKS LUBRICATION, ENGINE POWER WILL BE LOST AND PROBABLY MANY LIVES. CHEVY IS AWARE THAT THESE SIGNIFICANT PROBLEMS EXIST AND INSTEAD OF BEING PROACTIVE THEY STALL THE OWNER BY REQUESTING A 2,000 MILE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. THAT TEST IS DESIGNED TO PUT THE BURDEN OF PROOF UPON THE OWNER AND NOT WHERE IT TRULY BELONGS, CHEVY. I HOPE SOMEONE TAKES THESE ISSUES SERIOUSLY BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. ACCORDING TO CHEVY, IN ADDITION TO THE CHAIN PROBLEM, THE PISTONS, VALVES, VALVE STEMS, CYLINDER, OIL PUMP, CAM SHAFT OR ROD BEARINGS MIGHT NEED REPLACEMENT DUE TO OIL LOSS. IN MY OPINION, THIS VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE RECALLED FOR THE ISSUES CITED ABOVE.
THE EQUINOX WAS BEING TOWED (ALL WHEELS DOWN) BEHIND A MOTORHOME. CHEVROLET CERTIFIES IT AS TOWABLE IN THIS MANNER. THE TOWING BASEPLATE, PRODUCED BY DEMCO SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS VEHICLE) WAS ATTACHED TO THE CAR'S FRONT RAIL ENDS OF THE FRAME. WHILE UNDERWAY, THE FRONT RAIL ENDS TORE LOOSE FROM THE FRAME. THE BASEPLATE, THUS DETACHED, TORE THE FRONT GRILL AND BUMPER FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CAR GLIDED TO A STOP ON THE ROAD. HAD WE BEEN ON A BUSY HIGHWAY OR ON A HILL, OTHER VEHICLES MAY HAVE BEEN INVOLVED AND SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH MAY HAVE OCCURRED. WE FEEL THAT THE FRONT RAIL ENDS ARE NOT SUFFICIENTLY STURDY TO SUPPORT TOWING AND CHEVROLET SHOULD NOT CERTIFY THE EQUINOX AS TOWABLE.

THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE STEERING. AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN DRIVEN FOR MORE THAN AND 1/2 HOUR, IT BECOMES STICKY ON EACH SIDE OF THE CENTER. I HAVE HAD NO SERIOUS PROBLEMS AS OF YET, BUT THE LONGER IT IS DRIVEN, THE WORSE IT GETS. WHEN THIS OCCURS, THE NATURAL RESPONSE IS TO CORRECT AND SOMETIMES THIS CANBE QUITE SCARY OR NERVE RACKING. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE AND THEY CLAIMED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG.
