VEHICLE BEGAN EXPERIENCING ROUGH IDLE, POOR DRIVEABILITY, AND ALSO STALLED AT LOW THROTTLE OPENING WHILE LEAVING A PARKING LOT. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH CODE P0010

I DROVE HOME AND PARKED MY CAR. WHEN TO STARTED MY CAR THE FOLLOWING MORNING AND PUT IT IN DRIVE. MY CAR WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD ONLY BACKWARDS. I HAD KNOW IDEA THAT MY TRANSMISSION WAS GOING. I WENT TO THE CHEVY DEALER MANY TIMES EARLIER FOR OIL CONSUMPTION AND MY THE SOUND OF MY TRANSMISSION AND THEY SAID THAT THE JUST SOUND OF THE CAR. IF THEY HAD BEEN HONEST AND TOLD ME THE TRUTH I COULD HAVE GOTTEN MY TRANSMISSION FIXED MANY YEARS EARLIER. THANKFULLY MY OIL CONSUMPTION WAS FIXED ONLY BECAUSE I CALLED CORPORATE AND PUSHED THE ISSUE. I BELIEVED THE DEALER WHEN HE TOLD ME ALL THE EQUINOX SOUND LIKE THAT. NOW I HAVE TO PAY OVER $3000.00 FOR THAT LIE. MY CAR IS BEING FIXED BY HOBBY'S TRANSMISSION IN HICKSVILLE, NY AS WE SPEAK. MY CAR IS A LEMON. CORPORATE TOLD ME THAT MY CARE WAS IN THE BATCH OF CARS THAT HAVE OIL CONSUMPTION. I WILL BE CALLING THEM ABOUT MY TRANSMISSION ON MONDAY, 6/22/20. *TR
I STARTED HAVING ISSUES AFTER A COUPLE MONTHS OF BUYING MY VEHICLE. MY RPM WOULD SPUTTER AND I WOULD ALWAYS CHECK MY OIL AND IT WOULD BE A QUART LOW. THIS WENT ON FOR MONTHS AND I CONTINUED TO DRAIN MONEY INTO MY VEHICLE WITH BUYING OIL. I REPLACED SEALS THINKING IT WAS A OIL LEAK AND IT WASN'T IT. MY ENGINE FINALLY WAS JUST SHOT SO NOW I'M OUT OF A CAR AND OWE MONEY ON IT STILL AND DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE. I AM VERY UPSET WITH THIS MODEL OF VEHICLE BC I DID RESEARCH ON IT AND A LOT OF COMPLIANTS ON THIS CAR BURNING OIL. CRAZY THAT NO ONE IS DOING ANYTHING TO FIX THE ISSUE. A FEW DAYS AGO AFTER WORK I STOPPED FOR GAS AND TOOK A DIFFERENT ROUTE HOME. I LIVE IN A CITY WITH TRAFFIC SO I IDLE A LOT. WHILE STOPPED, MY 'SERVICE STABILITRAK' AND 'ENGINE POWER REDUCED' CAME ON. THERE WAS NO WHERE I COULD GO BUT UP THE EXPRESSWAY. ONCE I SPED UP, THE CAR PROCEEDED TO TURN OFF. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER ONTO THE SHOULDER ON TOP OF THE EXPRESSWAY. AFTER THAT, THE CAR WOULDN'T TURN ON ANYMORE. AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES, EVERYTHING STARTED FLICKERING AND THEN IT HAD NO ELECTRICITY RUNNING AT ALL. NOT EVEN MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS. THIS WAS REALLY SCARY BECAUSE PPL ARE DRIVING REALLY FAST NEXT TO ME AND AND IT WAS ALREADY NIGHT TIME. I FINALLY GOT HELP AND HAD IT TOWED THE NEXT MORNING. THE KEY WAS STUCK IN THE IGNITION BUT STILL NO SIGN OF LIFE UNTIL AFTER IT WAS TOWED. I CAN'T AFFORD TO TAKE IT IN JUST YET BUT I AM EXTREMELY SCARED TO DRIVE IT AS I AM A SINGLE PARENT WITH NO FAMILY IN THIS NEW CITY.

SHORTLY AFTER I FINANCED THE VEHICLE IT STARTED HAVING ISSUES WHILE IDLING, IF I IDLE TOO LONG IT WILL START TO SHAKE AND WILL SHUT DOWN. I HAVE POURED MONEY INTO FIXING THE VEHICLE AND SPENT THE LAST TWO 3 YEARS TRYING TO FIX THE ORIGINAL ISSUE OF IT SHUTTING DOWN. I WILL LOSE THROTTLE IN THE GAS PEDAL AND IT WILL JUST TURN OFF OUT OF NOWHERE WHILE I'M DRIVING AWAY FROM MY HOME. IT SEEMS TO NOT LIKE WHEN I IDLE OR DRIVE SLOW WHEN I'M ON THE FREEWAY I HAVE TO MAKE SURE I'M DRIVING FAST THE GAS PEDAL KEEPS THROTTLE IF I DRIVE TOO SLOW IT'S A RISK FOR IT TO STARTING TO SHAKE AND SHUT DOWN AGAIN. WHILE TRYING TO FIND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM MECHANICS HAVE FOUND PARTS THAT WERE YEARS PAST DUE OF NEEDING REPLACING. SO WHILE THEY THOUGHT THAT THAT WAS THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM AND IT LOOKED POSSIBLE WITH A CONDITION IT WAS IN EVERY TIME WE WOULD THINK THAT WE HAVE SOLVED THE PROBLEM UNTIL THE NEXT DAY WHEN I TRY TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE AND IT DOES THE SAME THING. I HAVE BEEN THROUGH FIVE MECHANICS TRYING TO SOLVE THIS ISSUE AND IT IS BECOMING A NIGHTMARE NOT EVEN THE DEALERSHIP COULD FIGURE IT OUT.
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK THIS MORNING WHEN I WENT OVER TRAIN TRACKS. AS SOON AS I DID MY "STBILITRAK" LIGHT CAME ON. ALL WHEEL DRIVE TURNED OFF AS WELL AS ABS. MY CAR WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE. I TRIED TO BREAK AND NEARLY LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I'M UPSET WITH MY VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH IT. I HAVE ALWAYS OWNED A CHEVY, BUT I THINK THEY QUALITY IN WORK IS DECREASING. STOPPED AT THE GAS STATION AND THE CAR WOULD NOT RESTART. SEVERAL TIMES THE CAR DIED WHILE ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. WHEN I TRY TO START THE CAR THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS GO BACK AND FORTH 3 TIMES AND ALL POWER IS THERE BUT ENGINE IS TOTALLY DEAD. SOMETIMES AFTER SEVERAL TRIES AND A FEW HOURS LATER THE CAR WILL START. I HAVE HAD 4 MECHANICS, 3 WERE DEALERS, AND NOBODY COULD TELL ME WHAT WAS GOING ON.....AND YET I WAS CHARGED 3 OUT OF 4 TIMES. MY HUSBAND SPOKE TO 2 STREET MECHANICS AND BOTH WITHOUT HESITATION SAID IT IS THE PCM COMPUTER. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH AND CONTINUED PROBLEMS I AM NOW ORDERING A NEW PCM AND INSTALLING IT MYSELF. THERE IS ALSO A TICKING SOUND WHICH SEEMS TO BAFFLE THE MECHANICS. AND THE CAR CONSUMES TONS OF OIL. UNFORTUNATELY I AM SEEING THAT THERE ARE SO MANY CHEVY EQUINOX OWNERS OUT THERE HAVING THESE SAME ISSUES AND CHEVROLET IS NOT HELPING. SHAME ON YOU CHEVROLET!

FROM THE OIL CONSUMPTION AND STILL HAVING PROBLEMS AND EVEN SMELLS LIKE BURNING CAUSING ODOR WHICH IS VERY STRONG, STALLING ISSUES WHERE MY CAR HAS EVEN STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY AFTER A NEW ENGINE WAS PUT IN, THE ENGINE TICKING STILL DOES AND STALLING EVEN WITH NEW ENGINE PUT IN HAVE VIDEO OF THE SOUNDS IT MAKES THAT THEY CAN'T SEEM TO FIGURE OUT WHAT'S GOING ON AFTER ALL THIS TIME AND THE CLATTERING NOISE WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED. I HAVE CONTACTED GM NUMEROUS TIMES BECAUSE I DO NOT FEEL SAFE WITH ME NOR MY CHILDREN IN THIS CAR. WITH ALL THE COMPLAINTS ONLINE AND THEY STILL WON'T RECALL THE VEHICLE AND BE CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF THE CUSTOMER. I OWN A 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX LS AWD WITH ROUGHLY 86,000 MILES. WHILE DRIVING BACK AN APPOINTMENT THIS MORNING, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SPUTTER AND THE "ENGINE REDUCED POWER"/"SERVICE STABILITRAK SYSTEM" LIGHTS TURNED ON. I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE WITH MORNING TRAFFIC THAT WAS GOING 70MPH (THE SPEED LIMIT) AND HIGHER. THE VEHICLE'S RPM REDUCED SUDDENLY AND DRASTICALLY, AND I WAS ONLY ABLE TO SUSTAIN 40MPH. I WAS ALONE. I COASTED OFF THE HIGHWAY AS QUICKLY AS I COULD, STOPPED AT THE MULTI-LANE INTERSECTION, AND THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. I COULD NOT RESTART IT. IT WAS 9 DEGREES OUTSIDE WITH SNOW ON THE GROUND, AND THE HEAT STOPPED WORKING IN THE VEHICLE, TOO. THE POWER STEERING SHUT DOWN. I HAD TO WAIT OUTSIDE TO DIRECT TRAFFIC SO THAT I WOULD NOT GET HIT. IT WAS A FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE. AFTER THE TOW TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE MECHANIC NOTIFIED ME THAT THE ENTIRE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, QUOTING ME BETWEEN $2300 FOR A USED ENGINE AND $6500 FOR A NEW ONE. CORPORATE HAS ONLY OFFERED 10% COST SHARE FOR A NEW ENGINE. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND A KNOWN ISSUE BASED ON CONSUMER COMPLAINTS I HAVE READ. THE COMPLAINTS ARE CONSISTENT AND POINT TO ENGINE FAILURE WITH TOTAL REPLACEMENT IN THE RANGE I WAS QUOTED. I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO REPLACE THE ENGINE, AND IT IS A SHAME THAT A VEHICLE WITH SO FEW MILES AND YEARS NEEDS THIS TYPE OF REPAIR! FURTHERMORE, I COULD HAVE BEEN SEVERELY INJURED OR WORSE, AS HAS HAPPENED TO MANY OTHERS! THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD NO COLLISIONS, NO MAJOR DAMAGES, AND I HAVE KEPT UP WITH ALL RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE. NOW I HAVE NO VEHICLE, NO POSSIBILITY TO RECOVER ITS VALUE, AND I AM DEVASTATED ABOUT THE FINANCIAL BLOW.

IN 2017 I HAVE REPLACED THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP X 2, CATALYTIC CONVERTER, TRANSMISSION, SVC TRACTION, ABS STABILITY TRACK, SERPENTINE BELT TENSIONER, STRUT MOUNTS, LOWER CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS, L & R REAR TRAIL ARM BUSHINGS, THROTTLE BODY. THE CAR IS BURNING OIL EXCESSIVELY AND I AM KEEPING RECORDS OF THIS AS THERE IS A RECALL/LAWSUIT PENDING ON THIS ISSUE CURRENTLY. I PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY SO MUCH OF THESE ITEMS WERE REPAIRED UNDER THAT EXCEPT LABOR AND TAXES WHICH STILL IS EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF REPAIRS AND MONEY I SPENT ON A 6 YEAR OLD CAR. I CALLED GM CUSTOMER CARE AND THEY COULDN'T CARE LESS. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED.
THE VEHICLE HAS SUFFERED SEVERAL ENGINE FAILURE SINCE I PURCHASED IT. SEVERAL SENSORS AND MODULE HAVE GONE OUT, COSTS OF OVER $1500.00 TO DATE. FAULTY ELECTRICAL PANEL FAILED TO INDICATE THE VEHICLE WAS LOW ON OIL, AND OVERHEATING. THE OIL WAS CHANGED AND WITHIN A MONTH, THE OIL HAD DEPLETED FOR UNKNOWN REASONS. NONE OF THE INDICATOR LIGHTS SIGNALED AND THE ENGINE STOPPED WHILE DRIVING, THE MECHANIC SAID THE ENGINE FROZE UP AND IT IS A TOTAL LOSS. THE MECHANIC SAID THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD TWO QUARTS OF OIL BUT WAS NOT SIGNALING ANY OIL PROBLEMS AND IT SHOULD HAVE. THE SENSORS AND ELECTRIC PANEL WERE MALFUNCTIONING. THE DEALER NEVER DISCLOSED ANY RECALLS TO ME WHEN I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE USED. THE MECHANIC IS GETTING THE HISTORY TOGETHER OF WORK PERFORMED. I WILL UPLOAD AS I GET THEM.

I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE SINCE 2016 AND HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH IT SINCE THE 7TH DAY OF OWNING IT. ON DAY 7, I HAD THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACED (AFTER THEY TRIED TO TELL ME I DIDN'T TIGHTEN THE GAS CAP). THEN AFTER ONLY OWNING THE VEHICLE FOR 4 MONTHS, I HAD TO HAVE A WHOLE NEW ENGINE BUILT (SO THEY SAY IT WAS) THIS WAS AFTER MY VEHICLE TURNED COMPLETELY OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION WHILE DRIVING WITH MY 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. UP UNTIL THAT POINT EVERYTHING HAD BEEN FINE. THERE WAS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, WARNING OR ANYTHING. THE DEALERSHIP HAD MY VEHICLE FOR ALMOST 2 MONTHS BEFORE I FINALLY GOT IT BACK. EVERYTHING WAS OK AFTER THAT FOR A GOOD 3 WEEKS AND THEN AFTER THAT THE ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON AND MY VEHICLE WILL RANDOMLY TURN OFF. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO A DIFFERENT LOCATION WHERE THEY HAVE FIXED THE SENSOR A COUPLE OF TIMES, BUT THEY SAID IT WAS MY ENGINE AND THAT THE DEALERSHIP NEVER FIXED IT PROPERLY. I CAN BELIEVE THAT TOO BECAUSE NONE OF MY SERVICE INFO IS ON THE CHEVY SITE AND THE SAME CODES SHOW UP THAT DID ORIGINALLY, THIS VEHICHLE IS A SAFETY HAZORD AND A MONEY PIT! WHEN WILL CHEVY BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS ON THE EQUINOX?

DEALERSHIP DENIED ANY THING WRONG WITH THE CAR.... AFTER HAVING IT TOWED BACK TO THEM, THEY FOUND THE THROTTLE BODY CONNECTORS WERE NO GOOD AND NEED A NEW WIRING KIT TO FIX. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS BECAUSE THIS COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT, ALMOST HAPPENED TO ME! PLEASE RECALL THE 2011 EQUINOX AS A WHOLE, YOU OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T BUILD THIS CAR CORRECTLY.

THIS CAR ALSO BURNS OIL, NO LEAKS, BUT YOU NEED A QUART OR TWO OF DEXOS OIL A MONTH. GM SEEMS TO THINK THIS IS NORMAL. ALSO THE CAR STALLS AS YOU REDUCE SPEED, LIKE COMING TO A TRAFFIC LIGHT. IT WORKS FINE FOR AWHILE, BUT ON CERTAIN DAYS, IT STALLS EVERY TIME YOU SLOW DOWN. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT POINTS TO A GAS PEDAL SWITCH.

THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE WITHOUT THE REPAIR, SO I HAD THEM DO THE SERVICE FOR $603 DOING SOME RESEARCH AND SPEAKING WITH SOME MECHANIC FRIENDS, THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT OCCURS BETWEEN 50,000 - 60,000 MILES AND I FEEL SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE IS UNUSABLE WITHOUT REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODY AND THE THROTTLE BODY IS NOT COVERED AFTER THE EMISSIONS WARRANTY OF 24,000 MILES. FROM YEARS 2006-2009 THE THROTTLE BODY WAS COVERED UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY AT 100,000 MILES. AFTER RESEARCHING THE INTERNET AND SPEAKING WITH LOCAL MECHANICS, IT HAS BEEN NOTED THAT MULTIPLE EQUINOX DRIVERS HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE AND IT ALWAYS OCCURS BETWEEN 50,000-60,000 MILES. I HAD THE EXTENDED WARRANTY SO THE COST WAS $100.00 TO ME, WITHOUT THE WARRANTY IT WOULD HAVE BEEN $600.00 TO FIX. I ASKED IF HE HAS REPLACED MANY THROTTLE BODIES IN THIS MODEL CAR HE SAID QUITE A FEW. THE CAR WAS FIXED. I EMAILED CHEVROLET AND ASKED HOW MANY THROTTLE BODIES HAVE BEEN REPLACED IN ALL CARS, THEY SAID NO RECALLS ON THIS CAR. I WAS UNSATISFIED WITH THEIR ANSWER, THAT WAS NOT MY QUESTION. CHEVROLET CALLED ME BACK AND SAID THAT A PERSON WOULD CALL ME ABOUT MY CONCERN. THEY CALLED AND TOLD ME THE SAME STORY, NO RECALLS AND THE DEALER COULD HAVE BEEN LYING TO ME, WHICH MADE ME UPSET. I ASKED TO SPEAK WITH A SUPERVISOR AND HE TOLD THERE WERE NO RECORDS KEPT OF HOW MANY THROTTLE BODIES HAVE BEEN REPLACED, WHICH I DO NOT BELIEVE. HE ALSO TOLD ME ABOUT A FUEL PUMP PROBLEM THAT CHEVY WOULD FIX ONLY IF MY CAR HAD A PROBLEM AND A CHAIN BELT PROBLEM THAT COULD A CAUSE SERIOUS PROBLEM TO THE ENGINE IF THE CAR SHOWED SYMPTOMS. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR AT A COST OF $200, HOWEVER TWO WEEKS LATER THE PROBLEM RECURRED, AGAIN WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. ONCE AGAIN I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE. I ALSO CONTACTED GM. BOTH THE GM REPRESENTATIVE AND THE CHEVY DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED MANY TIMES AND ADMITTED THAT THEY HAVE NOT YET DETERMINED A DEFINITIVE CAUSE OR SOLUTION. AND WHILE GM COVERED $300 OF THE SECOND REPAIR, IT STILL COST US $100. WE ARE NOW OUT $300 IN REPAIRS SO FAR FOR THIS DEFECT WITH NO GUARANTEE THAT THE PROBLEM IS FIXED. WE NO LONGER TRUST THIS CAR. SO MY TRACTION CONTROL AN ABS LIGHT GOES OFF AN I TAKE IT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED, AND IT APPEARS MY LEFT WHEEL SENSOR IS FAULTY AND CAN CAUSE LOCK UP IN BREAKS AND DECREASED POWER. AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE, MY VEHICLE TOOK A HARD SHARP RIGHT WHILE I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE. IF A CAR HAD BEEN BESIDE ME I WOULD OF CRASHED. I THOUGHT I HAD A FLAT TIRE SO, I PULLED OVER AND CHECKED THE TIRES AND ALL WERE FINE. AS I GOT BACK ON THE INTERSTATE MY VEHICLE KEPT PULLING RIGHT. WHEN I STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN TO MAKE A LEFT I COULD BARELY TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME AFTER MUCH " MAN HANDLING" WITH MY 5 YEAR OLD AND 3 YEAR OLD IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME. MY CHILDREN WERE CRYING. I HAVE PREVIOUSLY READ ABOUT THIS ISSUE ON THE INTERNET. I HOPE A RECALL WILL BE ISSUED SOON AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY ONE HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED THUS FAR. I PURCHASED A NEW CHEVY EQUINOX ON MAY 13, 2011 FROM MARITIME MOTORS IN FAIRFIELD, CT IT HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE FROM THE BEGINNING DRIVETRAIN/TIMING ISSUES, BUCKING ON ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION AND PULSING AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS AND STOP SIGNS. THE EQUINOX STILL OCCASIONALLY CLATTERS UPON STARTING (AFTER THE RECALL WAS APPARENTLY FIXED IN SUMMER 2011), AND THE VEHICLE ALSO PULSES AT STOP SIGNS AND TRAFFIC LIGHTS TO THE POINT IT FEELS LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL AND I HAVE TO REMOVE MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE TO STOP THE PULSING. I HAVE HAD NOTHING FROM MARITIME MOTORS (OR GENERAL MOTORS) IN TERMS OF SUPPORT ON THIS ISSUE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THE VEHICLE - I HAVE FIVE WITNESSES/PASSENGERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED MY CONCERNS. IN ADDITION, I HAVE TWO FRIENDS WITH THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL (PURCHASED FROM MARITIME MOTORS) AND ARE EXPERIENCING IDENTICAL ISSUES. I STARTED TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE EQUINOX IN JULY, AUGUST AND AGAIN NOW, WITH THE STABILITY TRACT SERVICE LIGHT GOING ON AND LOSING POWER AND NOW THIS THIRD TIME WITH NO POWER TO THE TRANNY - I COULD NOT CHANGE GEARS, I WOULD GIVE IT GAS AND IT JUST WOULDN'T MOVE - THEN THE CAR POWER LOCKS GO CRAZY -LOCK AND UNLOCK AND THE TRANSMISSION JERKS.
