The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle hesitated to respond. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to continue driving. The contact stated that while attempting to drive from a complete stop the following day, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to respond. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

Just got a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox from a dealership that I trusted. Only had a few weeks and it just stalled on me while driving in traffic!!! 😱 Would not start back ! It was terrifying!!! Thank God it wasn’t rush hour! A nice man helped push it out of road into a parking lot! Now I find out there are safety issues and recalls that I was not aware of! Faulty oil piston rings caused it to jump time! They want over 7,000$ to fix but I do not have that kind of money!!!Its a death trap and shouldn’t have been allowed to re sale!!!

The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost motive power upon depression of the accelerator pedal with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact also stated while driving 30 MPH, the vehicle stalled while attempting to cross a bridge. The contact called a friend who assisted with towing the vehicle to her residence. The contact then drove the vehicle to two independent mechanics who attempted to retrieve fault codes but were unable to. The mechanics were unable to determine the cause of the failure. The sparks plugs were replaced, and an oil change was performed; however, the failure persisted. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer had been notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 106,697.

Engine Check Light On took in for diagnostic and was told nothing was wrong just over heated. Taken in multiple times. Finally on February 10, 2022 a visual inspection of leak was done to find rear main seal blew out and leaking oil! At which point it was recommended replacing engine. Through a search on 2011 Chevrolet Equinox it was found to be a common problem for this model. Also mentioned was transmission issues with jerky or slippage in gears ⚙️ in Automatic/Manual transmissions combination types! Plus having trouble with speed control revving up, going up and down hills as concerning with gas pedal sticking!

This model with this VIN# was not listed for a recall, however, it burns oil excessively. The oil gets changed to only have to add oil numerous times before the next oil change. It is absolutely absurd that I have to purchase oil by the gallon. The second problem is the A/C. The check engine light comes on at times when the A/C is on, stays on for days or a week or so, go off, comes back on, and the cycle continues to repeat itself. The mass airflow sensor, oxygen sensors(upstream and down-stream) spark plugs, have all been replaced many times thinking the replacement parts were defected. It appears all of this has to do with a vehicle that was not well built. This car has had a lot of things to go wrong to include the transmission which was no good, and it does not appear that much else about the vehicle is good. It has taken a lot to keep this vehicle running! General Motors, please recall this vehicle? I do not have photos of the oil problem, because I am checking it approximately every two weeks, and more often if I must travel a long distance. I add oil as needed. The situation with the air resulted from getting the check engine light read at an auto parts store, and it is unnerving that it is always the same thing. I want to allow my grandson to take this car to college in August, but there is some uncertainty.

Damages to my engine were caused solely as a direct result of excessive oil consumption caused by defective piston rings used by GM during manufacturing that caused piston ring wear. The repairs that are needed are the direct result of excessive oil consumption caused by defective piston ring wear causing time chain to stretch and break. I took very good care of my car and had the oil changed every 2,000 to 3,000 miles. I had the oil consumption test done at Thomas Chevrolet in Media, PA which proved my car was burning excessive oil which was supposed to be covered under multiple recalls from GM - SB 13-06-01-003F. I was told there was nothing wrong with my car and after driving only 2,605 miles, my engine failed. The guide broke off and was sheared into fragments, chain was roaming free, chain cut into top of valve cover, cracked formed in top of valve cover, oil was leaking out of hole, motor shavings all inside motor from internal parts, grinding was due to lack of lubrication from oil being lost, causing knocking noises. Dealer recommended engine replacement at a cost of $7,800. Also SB-10090101-2280-1 also concerns the oil consumption problem and timing chain.

My car was purchased used at a Chevrolet dealership. I noticed right away that the carjerks when I accelerate, it also stalls when trying to accelerate when making a turn which cam cause an accident. The vehicle revs and slowly moves and then takes off. Its a dragging motion when driving its very slow. The steering wheel locks when turning as if I need power steering fluid. This car is a hazard, waiting to happen. When starting it, it makes this loud humming noise. I just had it inspected and the mechanic said the car was fine, but driving it is a different story.

The engine oil rings are faulty ,it's a manufacturer issue but lawsuits have been the only outcome .it also has many environmental hazards involved as well as public safety as this vehicle spews massive amounts of oil and gas and other nasty things out onto the road behind it from the exhaust.

BOUGHT THE EQUINOX USED.SURE WISH I WOULD HAVE RESEARCHED BETTER. IT RAN DRY OF OIL. DASH READ 55% OIL LIFE AT THE TIME. CAR JUST CUT OFF ON ME AND AFTER DISCOVERING A DRY DIPSTICK AND REPLENISHING OIL, IT SOUNDED LIKE A BROKEN SEWING MACHINE, VERY LOUD RATTLING! CAR SHAKES SO BAD WHILE STOPPED AT TRAFFIC LIGHT, WE ARE SCARED IT IS JUST GOING TO DIE IN TRAFFIC.CAR WILL NOT IDLE TO WARM UP. I WAS HEADING INTO WORK ON A WEDNESDAY. EXITING THE HIGHWAY THERE WAS A MASSIVE SHUTTER IN TRANSMISSION AS IT DOWNSHIFTED ON THE EXIT RAMP.TURNING ON TO A BUSY STREET, U.S.36, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHUTTER AS IT WAS SHIFTING INTO THE NEXT GEAR. BY THAT TIME I NEEDED TO SLOW DOWN FOR A STOP LIGHT. AS I BEGAN TO INCREASE IN SPEED THE TRANSMISSION SHUTTERED VIOLENTLY. THEN THE TACHOMETER WAS PEGGED AND REDLINING AND WAS NOT GAINING SPEED. WITH A MASSIVE AMOUNT OF TRAFFIC PILING UP ON ME AND NOWHERE TO GO, I TURNED ON THE FLASHERS. I BEGAN COASTING BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION WAS NOT FUNCTIONAL. ENGINE RUNNING FINE WITH NO ACCELERATION.THERE I WAS DEAD IN THE ROADWAY WAITING TO BE REAR ENDED..AFTER THE TRAFFIC EASED UP. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TRIED TO DRIVE AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WOULD ONLY GO ABOUT 10MPH AND THEN STOP PROPELLING ME FORWARD. COASTING TO ANOTHER STOP. PUTTING INTO PARK AGAIN AND THEN BACK INTO DRIVE. AGAIN ONLY GETTING UP TO ABOUT 10MPH BEFORE TRANSMISSION WOULD STOP MOVING FORWARD. I DID THIS NUMEROUS TIMES BEFORE I COULD FIND A SAFE LOCATION TO PULL INTO. THIS EPISODE ENDED IN A $3400 TRANSMISSION REPAIR. THE MASTER MECHANIC SAYS HE SEES THIS SO MANY TIMES WITH VEHICLE. I FIND THIS TO BE UNACCEPTABLE FOR AN AUTO MANUFACTURE TO PRODUCE SUCH AN INFERIOR PRODUCT THAT UNTIMELY PUTS THE PUBLIC SAFETY IN JEOPARDY.

THE CAR SEEMED TO BE RUNNING FINE. I THOUGHT MAY BE IT WAS BAD GAS BUT I WAS ON A HALF TANK AND HAD BEEN DRIVING WITH THE SAME GAS FOR ALMOST A WEEK WITH NO ISSUES. I TRIED TO DRIVE HOME AND WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND WENT TO PRESS THE GAS, NOTHING HAPPENED. THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. I COULD HEAR ACCELERATION, BUT THE CAR DID NOT BUDGE. I PUT IT IN REVERSE AND THE SAME THING OCCURRED. I AM READING THAT TRANSMISSION FAILURE HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH MANY 2011 CHEVY EQUINOX OWNERS. I HAVE A LITTLE UNDER 124,000 MILES. VEHICLE HAS ABOUT 109,000 MILES AND SUDDENLY, THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING. I FIGURED OUT THAT IT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IN REVERSE ONLY, SO I MOVED IT TO A SAFE LOCATION. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED INTO THE DEALER (OUT OF WARRANTY) AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT SINCE IT WAS A CLOSED SYSTEM THAT THERE WERE A FEW OPTIONS. IN THE END, I WENT TO REPLACE WITH A NEW TRANSMISSION AND HAVE THE WARRANTIES...THE COST WAS ABOUT $2000 FOR MINIMAL WARRANTIES OR OVER $5000 FOR FULL WARRANTY. I FELT THAT WHEN I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW WITH 5 MILES ON IT THAT IT WOULD LAST LONGER THAN IT DID. LAST YEAR OUR TRANSFER CASE BROKE. FORTUNATELY THE FAILURE WAS IN A PARKING LOT AND WE AVOIDED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT DUE TO THE COMPLETE FREEZING UP OF THE FRONT END. WE SIMPLY STARTED DRIVING AND THERE WAS A LOUD CRACK AND THEN THE STEERING FROZE. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT, COLLISION OR ANY OFF ROAD OR ON ROAD EXPERIENCE THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THIS. IT WAS CLEARLY A MAJOR PART THAT SHOULD NEVER FAIL THIS WAY. THE MECHANICS HAD NEVER SEEN BEFORE. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AN I STOPPED. TRIED GIVING IT GAS AN RPMS JUST WENT UP. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT IN 1ST GEAR AN GO ABOUT 20MPH FOR ABOUT 2 MILES AN THEN LOST ALL GEARS. IT IS AT THE SHOP NOW AN I JUST GOT THE DIAGNOSIS. NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. I BELIEVE IT IS TIME FOR GM TO TAKE ALL OF THIS SERIOUSLY AN FIX THE PROBLEM THERE ARE TO MANY COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME THING WITH NOTHING BEING DONE. WHEN MY HUSBAND ARRIVED, THE CAR WOULD JUST REV. WE HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED. THE CAR HAS UNDER 80,000 MILES ON IT AND THE TRANSMISSION GOES? THIS IS JUST RIDICULOUS THAT CHEVY IS RIPPING PEOPLE OFF WITH THESE CARS! I HAVE READ SOO MANY COMPLAINTS WITH THIS HAPPENING TO THE 2011 EQUINOX AND THERE IS NOT SOMETHING FISHY OR RECALLS ON THIS? AFTER WORK, REVERSE GEAR TOTALLY USELESS, HAD TO PUSH CAR OUT OF PARKING SPACE AT WORK AND ALL FORWARD GEARS WERE "SLIPPING" AND UNABLE TO ACCELERATE VEHICLE. TOWED CAR MECHANIC WHO SAID, "YOUR TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REBUILT OR REPLACED " AND "THESE CARS ARE KNOWN FOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER PROBLEMS". HE SAYS REPAIR WILL BE AT LEAST $2500 AND MAYBE AS HIGH AS $4,000.

WHILE ACCELERATING ON FRWY RAMP, SUDDEN CATASTROPHIC TRANSMISSION FAILURE, I GOT TO THE SHOULDER, HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MY REGULAR REPAIR GARAGE, HE HAD SEEN THIS BEFORE, A PLATE INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION SHATTERS WITH NO WARNING, HAD CAR TOWED TO TRANSMISSION SHOP, THEY DIAGNOSED THE SAME THING, SAID THEY HAVE REPAIRED 4 TO 5 EVERY YEAR AND IT'S A FLAW WITH THESE TRANSMISSIONS. THEY COMPLETELY REBUILT THE TRANSMISSION AND SHOWED ME THE BROKEN PARTS. COST WAS $3400.00. CALLED THE CHEVY DEALER FOR REIMBURSEMENT AND THEY DENY ANY DESIGN OR MANUFACTURING DEFECTS AND REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING. I THINK YOU SHOULD INVESTIGATE THESE TRANSMISSIONS FOR EARLY FAILURES DUE TO A DESIGN OR MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND MAKE CHEVY EXTEND THE WARRANTIES ON THEM. NOTED ON THE 3RD DAY ALL OF THE ABOVE IN ADDITION TO THE VEHICLE SLIPPING GEARS AND WHILE IN DRIVE BEGAN TO READ AS IF IT WERE IN NEUTRAL. UPON INSPECTION BY A LOCAL DEALER IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS NO LONGER FUNCTIONAL. D MILEAGE FOR THE 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX AT THAT POINT WAS 109000 MILES. IT HAS SINCE COSTED APPROXIMATELY $3000 TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION OF WHICH NONE WAS COVERED BY ANY WARRANTY EITHER DEALER OR MANUFACTURER.

MY CAR HAD BEEN IN THE SHOP TWO MONTHS PRIOR FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. MY CAR CURRENTLY HAS 102,000 MILES. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT METAL SHAVINGS WERE ALSO FOUND IN MY OIL. I TRIED DRIVING MY CAR AFTER THE DIAGNOSTIC AND THE "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" INDICATOR CAME ON, CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO PULL OVER ON THE HIGHWAY AND BE TOWED. I CONTACTED GM REGARDING A RECALL AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTICULAR MODEL OF MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND SINCE MY WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. VEHICLE HAS BEEN METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED. ENGINE STARTED TO STALL WHILE DRIVING, THEN WOULD NOT START. WARNING LIGHTS DID NOT APPEAR UNTIL AFTER THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. SAID ENGINE UNDERPOWERED. HAD IT TOWED TO MECHANIC, WHO FOUND THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE ENGINE, EVEN THOUGH NO LIGHTS CAME ON AND WE CHECKED THE OIL 3 DAYS EARLIER. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER SAID THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, BUT REPAIRS SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER A SPECIAL COVERAGE WARRANTY ISSUED BY GM. GM DENIED COVERAGE WITH NO EXPLANATION SENT TO ME. I CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE TO FILE AN APPEAL, AND WAS GIVEN A FILE NUMBER AND TOLD SOMEONE WOULD CONTACT ME WITHIN 2 BUSINESS DAYS. DESPITE ALMOST DAILY FOLLOW UP CALLS BY ME FOR A MONTH NO ONE HAS CALLED ME BACK. EACH TIME I AM TOLD IT THE CASE IS BEING HANDLED BY A SENIOR ADVISOR AND THAT THE OPERATOR WAS NOT ABLE TO CONTACT THEM AND THEY WOULD CALL ME BACK. I ASKED FOR THE CASE TO BE ESCALATED TO A SUPERVISOR, AND AFTER 4 TIMES WAS TOLD IT HAD BEEN, BUT WHEN I CALLED BACK TO SEE WHY NO ONE HAD CALLED ME BACK WAS TOLD THAT THE SENIOR ADVISOR WAS STILL ASSIGNED TO THE CASE. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, WITH THE ENGINE STALLING WHILE STILL IN MOTION, WITH NO WARNING, AND IS CAUSED BY A KNOWN MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT AND SHOULD BE PART OF A RECALL, NOT "SPECIAL COVERAGE".

TODAY I ADDED MY NAME TO THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT, CASE NO. 3:17-CV-5337 THAT WAS FILED ON 9/14/17 IN THE NORTHERN DISTRICT OF CALIFORNIA AGAINST GM REGARDING MY 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. IF YOU'RE AFFECTED, ADD YOUR NAME AS WELL AS FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION. FEB2017, I PURCHASED SAID AUTO WITH 69,684 MILES IN GOOD CONDITION. ON MY WAY TO WORK WHILE AT A RED LIGHT THE SUV SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. BEING UNABLE TO RESTART THE SUV, IT WAS TOWED ON MAY 25, 2018 TO MY MECHANIC (CB ISLAND, 589 UNION AVE, WESTBURY, NY) TO FIND THAT THERE WERE DAMAGED VALVES, A BROKEN TIMING CHAIN, AND A BLOWN ENGINE AT 93,675 MILES. THIS MILEAGE IS WELL UNDER GM'S SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT MILEAGE OF 120K. THE CAUSE OF THE DAMAGE TO THE MOTOR WAS LACK OF OIL IN THE ENGINE. BEING DILIGENT IN GETTING OIL CHANGES, THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THE OIL WAS LOW IN THE CAR. GM REFUSED TO HONOR THE WARRANTY THOUGH THEY KNEW OF THE DEFECT ON THESE ENGINES. THERE ARE MANY ALMOST IDENTICAL MECHANICAL ISSUES OVER MULTIPLE YEARS FOR THE CHEVY EQUINOX. THIS IS NOT JUST A FEW OF US THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ENGINE FAILURE, BUT ENOUGH TO HAVE A CLASS ACTION INITIATED. HAVING A $16K LOAN REMAINING, I HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE BUT TO REPAIR THE ENGINE. THE GOVERNMENT (WHICH WAS ASSISTED GM OUT OF BANKRUPTCY) NEEDS TO HOLD GM ACCOUNTABLE BY FORCING THEM TO TAKE ACTION BY RECALLING ALL AFFECTED MODELS, AND TO REIMBURSE THOSE WHO HAVE ALREADY MADE THE REPAIRS IN ADDITION TO HAVING GM INSPECT THE REPAIRED ENGINES TO ENSURE NO FUTURE PROBLEMS TO PRE-EMPT THE FATALITIES THAT WILL EVENTUALLY BEGIN TO ADD UP.

WIPER BLADE MOTOR STOPPED WORKING IN A HEAVY DOWNPOUR. I WAS ON A ROAD I KNOW SO WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF SAFELY. IF I DIDN'T KNOW THIS ROAD I AM POSITIVE I WOULD HAVE HAD AN ACCIDENT. THE MANIFOLD WAS CHANGED IN 2013. TODAY IS MARCH 22, 2018. LAST WEEK I HAD THE MANIFOLD CHANGED AGAIN. CRACKED AGAIN. THERE WERE FUMES COMING INTO THE PASSENGER AREA. THE CAR IS IN THE REPAIR GARAGE AGAIN BECAUSE THE FUMES ARE EVEN WORSE. THE CAR HAS ALWAYS HAD A LOUD TICKING SOUND. IT USES A LOT OF OIL. I COMPLAINED TO THE DEALER BEFORE THE WARRANTY RAN OUT. THEY DID AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AND SAID THE OIL USE WAS WITHIN NORMAL RANGE. HOW CAN THIS BE NORMAL RANGE WHEN I PUT A COUPLE QUARTS OF OIL EVERY 200 MILES. THIS CAR IS JUNK.

ENGINE FAILED DUE TO EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF WORKING THROUGH AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WITH THE DEALERSHIP BUT WAS UNABLE TO FINISH. MY CAR FAILED THANKFULLY WHILE IT WAS STATIONARY IN MY DRIVEWAY. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THIS FAILURE COULD HAVE HAPPENED AT ANY TIME EVEN WITH MY KIDS IN THE CAR OR ON THE HIGHWAY. I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT DUE TO THE VEHICLE CONSUMING EXCESSIVE OIL BETWEEN REGULAR OIL CHANGES IT RESULTS IN ISSUES WITH THE TIMING CHAIN WHICH EVENTUALLY LEAD TO ENGINE ISSUES AND ULTIMATELY FAILURE. THERE IS CURRENTLY A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN RELEASED BY GM FOR THE KNOWN ISSUE BUT NO INFORMATION WAS EVEN SENT TO ME ABOUT THE ISSUE SO THAT I COULD BE MADE AWARE OF IT AND MONITOR THE PROBLEM.

I HAD MY FAMILY IN THE EQUINOX AND HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD ON A BUSY HIGHWAY AT NIGHT. I CALLED AAA TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP BY THE HOUSE. THEY DETERMINED THE TRANSMISSION WAS BAD AND EITHER NEEDED A NEW ONE OR HAVE THE COMPUTER RE-FLASHED. THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO CAN RE-FLASH A TRANSMISSION MODULE COMPUTER IS A DEALERSHIP. BY NOW, I ALSO CALLED GENERAL MOTORS AND THEY ADVISED ME TO TAKE IT TO A DEALERSHIP. I HAD IT TOWED AGAIN FOR A SECOND TIME TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID THE TRANSMISSION WAS BAD AND NEEDED A NEW ONE. I STARTED THE REPAIR PROCESS SOON AFTER. I WANTED GENERAL MOTORS TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS BECAUSE I BOUGHT MY CAR BRAND NEW AND IT HAD 88,000 MILES ON IT. GM DID NOT PAY FOR THE REPAIRS AND I GOT STUCK WITH A $3800 BILL IN REPAIRS AND LABOR.

MY 2.4L 2011 EQUINOX (APPROX. 47,000 AT PURCHASE 11/16 & 71,000 CURRENT) IS NOW AT DAYS CHEVROLET IN ACWORTH GA. DUE TO 1) SHUTTING OFF MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING, 2) STALLING AT IDLE (FWD & REV). I INITIALLY VISITED DAYS ON 12/22/17 TO START AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST RELATED TO 15285C, AS MY CAR PRESENTED WITH STALLING/HESITATION/SURGING AND LOSS OF 3 QTS OIL. AS OF TODAY (1/3/18), I RETURNED TO DAYS WHEN IT SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP'S DIAGNOSIS IS INTAKE & EXHAUST CAMSHAFT SOLENOID FAILURE. I SUSPECTED THIS BASED ON CODE P0010 RECORDED BY MY DIAGNOSTIC UNIT. SO I GOT A RENTAL, LEFT MY CAR FOR THE CAMSHAFT REPAIRS, AND RESEARCHED RECALLS. THE 2011 2.4L HAS MANY KNOWN ENGINE/POWERTRAIN/SAFETY ISSUES. LO AND BEHOLD, I FOUND THE RECALL ON THE CAMSHAFT DIAGNOSIS. IT READS EXACT TO WHAT I'M EXPERIENCING. MY NEXT STEP WAS CONTACTING DAYS TO ASK WHY I'M BEING CHARGED FOR A RECALLED REPAIR. I WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WERE UNAWARE OF RECALL 11195A. MY SERVICE ADVISOR, ROB, LOOKED UP THE RECALL AND DISCOVERED THAT THERE IS IN FACT A RECALL FOR THE EXACT DIAGNOSIS, YET COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED. HE ADVISED THAT THE CAR IS EXHIBITING EXACTLY WHAT THE RECALL IS ISSUED FOR AND THAT IT'S CLEARLY A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE, YET GM WILL NOT COVER MY REPAIR BECAUSE "THE VIN IS NOT INCLUDED". I VERY MUCH BELIEVE THIS IS GM'S RESPONSIBILITY AND GM SHOULD COVER THE REPAIR AT NO COST BECAUSE IT'S A RESULT OF THEIR FAULTY ENGINEERING. I CONTACTED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE TONIGHT AND WAS TOLD THERE'S NOTHING GM CAN DO. I STRONGLY DISAGREE. GM CAN DO THE RIGHT THING. I REQUESTED A CASE BE OPENED AND WAS GIVEN #83734190593 AFTER PRESSING (PAUL) FOR ONE. IN THE END. GM WAS OF NO HELP AND MY VIN IS STILL IN LIMBO, SO I'M FILING MY COMPLAINT HERE.

CHEVROLET EQUINOX 2011 USES EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF OIL. I HAVE TO ADD OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. I KEEP EXTRA OIL ON HAND ALWAYS. THE CAR MAKES RATTLING NOISE AT START UP AND JUST DOESN'T SOUND GOOD WHEN RUNNING. IT RUNS SLUGGISHLY. I WASN'T AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. I ONLY HAD TO ADD OIL BETWEEN CHANGES TO MY PREVIOUS CAR WHEN IT WAS LEAKING ON THE GROUND. I WENT TO HAVE OIL CHANGED AND THERE WAS NONE ON THE DIPSTICK. I HAD NO IDEA. WHEN I ADD OIL THE RATTLING SEEMS TO GO AWAY FOR A WHILE. I CAN'T AFFORD TO BUY ANOTHER CAR OR REPLACE THE MOTOR IF THE OIL CONSUMPTION CAUSES THE NEED FOR THAT.

I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY ROAD AND THE CAR JERKED AND WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR. I TRIED TO PUSH IT, BUT IT WOULD NOT GO. I SLOWED DOWN TO A STOP LIGHT AND MY CAR WOULD NOT GO. ONCE I MANAGED TO GET IT INTO A PARKING LOT, ALL GEARS TOTALLY LOCKED UP AND I COULD NOT EVEN GET IT IN NEUTRAL. THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP SAYS I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. I ONLY HAVE 76K MILES ON THIS ONE BEFORE IT WENT UP.

IT HAS HAD ALREADY 2-3 RECALLS & THIS TRANSMISSION IS GOING TO KILL SOMEONE. I CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS & THEY WILL NOT MAKE THIS A RECALL & THEY WILL NOT HELP PAY FOR REPAIR ALTHOUGH THEY HAVE HELPED OTHERS. STALLING OUT WHILE SITTING IN DRIVE AT RED LIGHT. GOT UP FOR WORK AND TURNED TRUCK ON, SOUNDED VERY ROUGH. PUT TRUCK IN REVERSE AND TOOK OFF AND WHEN STOPPING AT A RED LIGHT THE RPMS WOULD MOVE ON THEIR OWN, CAR STARTS BOUNCING, MOTOR IS RATTLING, AND SOMETIMES STALLS OUT. I HAVE TO PUT THE TRUCK IN NEUTRAL AT EVERY LIGHT FOR IT TO NOT ROCK BACK AND FOURTH. NEXT DAY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME OUT, READINGS INDICATED IT WAS THE THROTTLE SENSOR BODY AND THE SOLENOIDS. I REPLACED ALL OF THESE AND TRUCK IS STILL RUNNING THE SAME, AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON. AFTER DOING RESEARCH I HAVE READ WELL OVER 50 OF THE SAME COMPLAINT OF THESE VEHICLES DOING THE SAME THING! WE NEED HELP!

AFTER DRIVING A COUPLE OF HOURS ON FREEWAY I TURNED ONTO GRATIOT AVE, SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE LOST FORWARD MOTION POWER. I WAS VERY CONCERNED BECAUSE I HAD A 2 MONTH OLD INFANT IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE ALSO LOST REVERSE. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE DIAGNOSIS WAS THAT THE 3RD/5TH/REVERSE CLUTCH WAVE PLATE HAD FAILED AND I WOULD NEED A REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION. I INFORMED THE DEALERSHIP THAT THESE CLUTCH WAVE PLATES HAVE HIGH FAILURE RATES GOING BACK TO 2007 AND GM SHOULD REPAIR THE VEHICLE AT THEIR COST. I AM AWAITING THEIR DECISION. HELLO, THE VEHICLE IS UNDER 60,000 MILES. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE MALFUNCTION LIGHT. AFTER DIAGNOSIS, IT WAS REPORTED THE CAR BURNED OIL AND CAUSED OIL SLUDGE. MANY REPORTS ARE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, INCLUDING THE PISTONS AND RINGS. THE COST OF THE JOB IS BETWEEN $4500 - 6000. GM WILL NOT REPAIR THE CAR UNDER THE BULLETIN, 15285C. APPARENTLY, THE CAR VIN IS COVERED; HOWEVER, GM WILL NOT REPAIR BECAUSE I CAN'T PROOF CHANGING OIL EVERY 5,000 MILES. I DO HAVE SERVICE PROVIDER RECEIPTS DATING BACK TO 2012. I COULDN'T PROOF CHANGING THE OIL MYSELF. I HAVE COMPLETED THIS TASKS IN ADDITION TO THE SERVICE SHOP. GM REPORTED THE CAR TO BURN OIL EXCESSIVELY AT 2,000 MILES. I WASN'T AWARE OF THIS UNTIL 2016, FIVE YEARS AFTER TIME OF PURCHASE. I'M DISAPPOINTED WITH GM NOT BACKING THEIR PRODUCT. AFTER COMING TO A STOP AT A LIGHT, CAR COMPLETELY DIED. NOTHING WOULD WORK. HAD TO BE TOWED BACK TO DEALER. WAS SENT TO A CERTIFIED GM SERVICE CENTER AND THE TIMING CHAIN HAD BROKE AND CAUSED CHAOS IN MY ENGINE. THEY REPLACED THE CHAIN AS WELL AS THE HEAD AND OTHER NUMEROUS PARTS. THEY ALSO FOUND THAT MY MANIFOLD WAS CRACKED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. OUT QUITE A BIT OF MONEY. NOW JUST A FEW MONTHS LATER, DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND MY ENGINE IS CLICKING AND TICKING AND SOUNDS LIKE ITS GOING TO FALL OUT. I CHECK THE OIL WHEN I GET STOPPED AND MY CAR HAS NO OIL IN IT. NO WARNING LIGHTS HAD COME ON AND MY OIL LEVEL MONITORING SYSTEM STILL SAID 38%. IT HAD JUST REACHED 3000 MILES SINCE MY LAST OIL CHANGE. NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER. TIRED OF DROPPING MONEY IN THIS VEHICLE. ALSO NOW WHEN I GET IN MY AIR CONDITIONER MAKE A LOUD NOISE UNTIL I TURN IT OFF AND BACK ON.

AFTER DOING RESEARCH AT HOME, THOUSANDS OF 2.4L ENGINES FOR EQUINOX ARE HAVING TO PAY FOR BAD TIMING CHAIN WHEN THEY HAVE BALANCING CHAIN REPLACED. MOST OF THESE COMPLAINTS ARE COMING AT THE 30,000 MILE MARK ON THE ODOMETER. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT NHTSA SHOULD LOOK INTO WHY THE TIMING CHAIN ISSUE IS NOT ADDRESSED WHEN REPLACING THE BALANCING CHAIN? ENGINE HAS ALWAYS MADE A RATTLING NOISE WHICH NOW I BELIEVE LOOSE/WORN TIMING CHAIN. LAST WEEK THE EQUINOX WAS STALLING AT STOP SIGNS. IT WILL START RIGHT BACK UP THEN DIE AGAIN. ONCE IT'S TAKES OFF IT RUNS FINE. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, THEY SAID THERE WERE 2 CODES. 1 READ ENGINE MISFIRE OTHER READ INTAKE CAM VALVE ACTUATOR (SOMETHING). THE DEALER CLEARED THE CODES (CHARGED ME FOR CLEARING CODES) AND THEN SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH CAR AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. COUPLE DAYS LATER IT DIES 3 TIMES IN A ROW AT STOP. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON FOR ONE DAY. NEXT DAY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES OFF AND VEHICLE RUNS FINE. LATER THAT DAY IT DIES AT STOP. I CALL DEALER TO GET ANOTHER APPOINTMENT AND THEY SAY WITHOUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON OR IT DYING FOR THEM THERE ISN'T MUCH THEY CAN DO. DO A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH OF EQUINOX TIMING ISSUE AND THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE. OF COURSE NOW IT IS 3 MONTHS OUT OF THE 5YEAR POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. I HAVE READ WHERE THERE IS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS ISSUE. TODAY I WAS DRIVING UP A 30 MPH ROAD AND COULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER 20 MPH GOING STRAIGHT UP THE ROAD. THERE WAS A HESISTATION THEN IT STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I WAS THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE VEHICLE IT WAS PURCHASED 06/11/2011. THE VEHICLE ALSO HAD OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUES AND ROUGH IDLE AT THIS TIME. THE VEHICLE HAD ITS CAM SHAFT ACTUATORS REPLACED IN AUGUST 2011 AFTER THE ENGINE MADE VERY LOUD NOISES WITH ABOUT 2000 MILES ON THE CAR. I TRADED THE CAR IN 3 DAYS AFTER THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE I DID NOT TRUST THE CAR.

WHEN WE INQUIRED ABOUT THESE THINGS FROM THE DEALER WE PURCHASED FROM WE WERE TOLD THAT EVERYTHING WAS 'NORMAL' AND THAT'S WHAT A CHEVY SOUNDS LIKE. IN AUGUST THE COMPRESSOR FOR THE AIR CONDITIONER WENT AND WE THOUGHT PERHAPS THAT WAS CAUSING MOST OF THE ISSUES AND SPENT QUITE A LOT OF MONEY TO FIX THAT. IT DID SEEM TO RUN A LITTLE BETTER FOR A FEW WEEKS. TODAY I WAS DRIVING DOWN A 30 MPH ROAD AND COULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER 20 MPH GOING STRAIGHT DOWN THE ROAD. THERE WAS A GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WENT TO THE CLOSEST GARAGE AS I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO THE OTHER END OF THE NEXT TOWN FROM WHERE I WAS. I BARELY MADE IT TO THE GARAGE. THEY HOOKED IT UP TO A SCAN AND DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. NOW I AM FINDING OUT THAT I AM OUT OF WARRANTY BY LESS THAN ONE MONTH. THIS APPEARS TO BE A CONSISTENT PROBLEM IN THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE FROM WHAT I HAVE NOW FOUND AND SOMETHING THAT SHOULD NOT HAPPEN WITH ONLY 56,000 MILES ON IT. I DO NOT DRIVE LONG DISTANCES OR EVEN ON A DAILY BASIS, AS THE FACT THAT I HAVE ONLY ADDED 16,000 MILES IN THE LAST 19 MONTHS CAN ATTEST. I AM EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED WITH THE ENTIRE SITUATION, ESPECIALLY SINCE I HAD TOLD THE DEALERSHIP MONTHS AGO THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE THAT THEY DIDN'T BOTHER TO LOOK INTO AND CONVENIENTLY CAN NO LONGER FIND RECORD OF. NEITHER THE DEALER OR CHEVY WERE HELPFUL.

INITIALLY THE ISSUE STARTED WITH ROUGH IDLING OF THE CAR, ENGINE TICKING, AND ENGINE STALLING. AFTER INDICATING THIS TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE ECM NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED BECAUSE THE OIL LIFE INDICATOR WAS NOT PROPERLY CALIBRATED CAUSING THE SYSTEM TO THINK THAT THERE WAS MORE LIFE ON THE OIL THAN THERE ACTUALLY WAS. THE ENGINE BALANCE CHAIN EVENTUALLY BROKE WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE (55 MPH), DUE TO IMPROPER OIL LUBRICATION. THE FUEL PUMP, WATER PUMP, AND A FEW OTHER ITEMS HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE DAMAGE CAUSED WHEN THE CHAIN BROKE. I NOTIFIED THE DEALERSHIP ONCE AGAIN AFTER ENGINE TICKING/ ROUGH IDLING RE-OCCURED AND THEY INDICATED TO ME THAT THE ENGINE TICKING DURING STARTUP WAS NORMAL. THE ENGINE TICKING PROGRESSED TO BECOMING A CONSTANT NOISE. I NOTICED THAT WHEN I TOOK THE OIL IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE, APPROXIMATELY 2000 MILES IN, THAT THE OIL DIPSTICK WOULD COME UP COMPLETELY DRY. THIS INDICATED THE VEHICLE WAS EXPERIENCING AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF OIL CONSUMPTION. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO INDICATED THAT PISTONS HAD TO BE REPLACED AND THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS CRACKED. THIS INDICATED THAT THE ENGINE WAS OBSERVING SOME EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF HEAT MOST LIKELY DUE TO THE OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE. DURING THESE ISSUES, NO SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT EVER CAME ON. THE CAR HAD TO BE TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AFTER THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHICH INDICATED THAT THE CAM SHAFT ACTUATOR SOLENOIDS AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS DRIVING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN , THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" MESSAGE APPEARED. THIS CONTINUED TO HAPPEN UNTIL I ATTEMPTED TO CLEAN THE THROTTLE BODY. THE THROTTLE BODY WASN'T OPERATING CORRECTLY. CLEANING IT DID STOP THE "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" MESSAGE. THIS CAR ALSO BURNS OIL, NO LEAKS, BUT YOU NEED A QUART OR TWO OF DEXOS OIL A MONTH. GM SEEMS TO THINK THIS IS NORMAL. ALSO THE CAR STALLS AS YOU REDUCE SPEED, LIKE COMING TO A TRAFFIC LIGHT. IT WORKS FINE FOR AWHILE, BUT ON CERTAIN DAYS, IT STALLS EVERY TIME YOU SLOW DOWN. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT POINTS TO A GAS PEDAL SWITCH.

UPON LEAVING THE HOME DRIVEWAY, AS THE CAR BEGAN TO ACCELERATE, THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON, AND THE INFORMATION STATION FLASHED THE WARNING "STABILITRAC / POWER REDUCED". THE CAR WAS STILL DRIVE-ABLE, BUT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST THE FIRST TRANSMISSION GEAR. AFTER GETTING THE VEHICLE BACK HOME, I RESTARTED IT, AND THE SAME WARNING WAS DISPLAYED IN THE INFORMATION STATION. THE VEHICLE ALSO BEGAN TO IDLE VERY ROUGHLY AND EMIT THICK BLACK SMOKE. ALL INDICATIONS FROM INTERNET SOURCES POINT TO A BAD THROTTLE BODY, WHICH WAS LATER CONFIRMED BY THE CAR DEALERSHIP. ACCORDING TO THE MASSIVE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PART, IT HAS A VERY HIGH FAILURE RATE IN THIS VEHICLE. HOWEVER, CHEVY REFUSES TO COVER THIS PART AS PART OF THEIR POWER-TRAIN WARRANTY. 1.WHILE DRIVING IN NASHVILLE FOR WORK THE FIRST OCCURRENCE STARTED WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. MOMENTS LATER CHECK TRACTION CONTROL WARNING POPPED UP AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER A REDUCED ENGINE POWER NOTIFICATION AND VEHICLE LOST POWER. WENT FROM 55 TO 30 MPH IN SECONDS. I HAVE NO CLUE HOW THIS DID NOT CAUSE A WRECK IN THE HEAVY TRAFFIC. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED IT FROM ([XXX] IN CLARKSVILLE, TN) AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A LOOSE TIMING CHAIN AND THAT THEY FIXED IT. 2.4,000 MILES LATER WHILE WORKING ALL THE SAME MESSAGES POPPED UP AND THE CAR COMPLETELY STALLED AND WOULD NOT RESTART ON A BUSY BYPASS. VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART AND I PAID TO HAVE IT TOWED. THIS TIME THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TIMING CHAIN ASSEMBLY AND A HOUSING DUE TO IT BEING DESTROYED. IT WAS COVERED BY WARRANTY AGAIN AND THEY SERVICED IT FOR FREE. 3.VEHICLE RAN GREAT FOR 3600 MILES AND AGAIN THE SAME MESSAGE SEQUENCE OCCURRED. THE CAR FORTUNATELY CONTINUED TO RUN AND I DROVE IT STRAIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP. I INSISTED IT WAS A SAFETY HAZARD AND THAT I WANTED TO TRADE IT IN IMMEDIATELY. 2 HOURS LATER THEY OFFERED ME $7,000 UNDER BLUE BOOK BECAUSE OF ENGINE PROBLEMS. THIS WAS VERY FUNNY OF COURSE SINCE IT IS CHEVROLET AND THE DEALERSHIPS FAULT FOR SELLING SUCH A LEMON. I TOLD THEM IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. TO FIX IT AGAIN FOR FREE AND I WOULD PICK IT UP. DEALERSHIP CALLED NEXT DAY. SAID EVERYTHING WAS FINE. IT WAS OUT OF OIL AND THAT CAUSED SAFETIES TO KICK IN AND THAT CREATED THE PROBLEM. AFTER A $500+ REPAIR, ISSUE HASN'T RECURRED IN LAST 3 MONTHS (SO FAR), BUT CEL STILL ILLUMINATES DURING WET CONDITIONS (WHICH BOTH DEALERS CANNOT SEEM TO FIX). ENGINE LOSS OF POWER, WITH SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATION AND SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL MESSAGE. DROVE VEHICLE HOME IN "LIMP MODE" BEFORE TAKING TO SERVICING DEALERSHIP, THE FOLLOWING TUESDAY. DEALER PERFORMED BALANCE CHAIN REPAIR UNDER MANUFACTURER SPECIAL WARRANTY LETTER. AFTERWARDS, DEALER ADVISED OF ENGINE CODE P2135 AND STATED VEHICLE REQUIRED A "THROTTLE BODY" REPLACEMENT, AT A FULL PARTS & LABOR COST OF $583.00. DEALER STATED THAT THIS REPAIR IS NO LONGER COVERED UNDER GM'S POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. GOOD EVENING, 6 YEARS AGO I HAD A CHEVY COBALT AND EXPERIENCED THAT SITUATION. MY VEHICLE POWERED ITSELF OFF AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND I WENT STRAIGHT FOR A WALL INSIDE A PARKING GARAGE. LATER THAT YEAR I RECEIVED A RECALL FOR THE VEHICLE. NOW I HAVE A 2011 CHEVY EQUINOX AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE WAS I WAS ON A FOUR LANE HIGHWAY AND MY VEHICLE POWERED OFF AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED. THANK GOD NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME AND I DIDN'T GET KNOCKED OFF THE STREET OR EVEN WORSE KILLED. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP ONLY TO FIND OUT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG AND MY CONCERN WAS SOMETHING UNHEARD. I EXPRESSED TO THEM MY CONCERN OF THAT HAPPENING ON A CROWDED HIGHWAY OR AN EXPRESSWAY. WHEN I TOOK MY CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THAT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. I DROPPED MY VEHICLE OFF THERE AND LEFT IT FOR A DAY. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THE FOLLOWING DAY BEFORE GETTING OFF THEY TOLD ME MY CAR WAS READY I WENT TO PICK IT UP AND THEY HAD ME WAITING FOR 30 MINUTES. WHEN I INQUIRED ABOUT WHAT WAS TAKING SO LONG THE SERVICE MANAGER REPLIED THAT THE MECHANIC WAS BACK THERE MAKING LOVE TO MY CAR. I COULDN'T FIND ANY HUMOR IN THE SITUATION BECAUSE THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE.BEFORE I WAS NONCHALANTLY BRUSHED OFF AND TOLD IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN TO BRING IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP. CRUISING ALONG AT 65 MPH ON HIGHWAY WHEN SERVICE STABILITRAK LIGHT ALONG WITH REDUCE ENGINE POWER CAME UP ON THE DASH. I LOST ENGINE POWER AND WENT FROM 65 MPH TO 15 MPH. I WAS ABLE TO PULL ONTO AN EXIT RAMP. I QUICKLY PULLED OVER & PARKED THE CAR. SHUT THE CAR OFF & WAITED ABOUT 1 MIN & TURNED THE CAR BACK ON. THE STABILITRAK & THE REDUCE ENGINE POWER CLEARED OFF MY DASH BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. THEN WAS ABLE TO MERGE BACK INTO TRAFFIC & PICK UP THE 65 MPH SPEED. I WAS WORRIED THAT IT WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN WHEN I HAD TO CROSS ONCOMING TRAFFIC. WHEN I GOT IN MY CAR LATER, THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT HAD EVEN TURNED OFF, BUT ON THE WAY HOME IT HAPPENED AGAIN. TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND WAS TOLD IT WAS A THROTTLE BODY/SOLENOID ISSUE & THAT IT NEEDS REPLACED. THEY TOLD ME IT ISN'T COVERED UNDER THE PT WARRANTY. AS OTHERS HAVE ALSO SAID, I'M SEEING A NUMBER OF PEOPLE WITH THIS SAME ISSUE & WONDERING WHY THIS ISN'T A RECALL? IT'S VERY UNSAFE ESPECIALLY CAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW WHEN ITS GOING TO HAPPEN. 2011 CHEVY EQUINOX. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILURE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED ON TWO OCCASION, THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILED TO RE-ENGAGE WHILE MAKING A SLOW ROLLING TURN FROM A CENTER TURNING LANE INTO A DRIVEWAY. IN BOTH SITUATION, THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO OPERATE NORMALLY, BUT THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT ENGAGE LEAVING THE VEHICLE STALLED IN THE PATH OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. IN EACH SITUATION, THE VEHICLE NEED TO BE PLACED IN PARK, SHUT OF AND THEN RE-STARTED IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO MOVE OUT OF THE TRAFFIC LANE. THE FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED IN SEPTEMBER 2012 AND THE SECOND OCCURRENCE HAPPENED ON FEBRUARY 6, 2013. THE DEALER EXAMINED AND TESTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND NO PROBLEM.

WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH, THE CHECK STABILIZATION SYSTEM LIGHT CAME ON. NEXT, THE ENGINE CUT POWER WITHOUT WARNING. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND I WAS TOLD THE CAR NEEDS A NEW THROTTLE BODY. HOWEVER, THE PART IS BACK ORDERED AND NOBODY CAN TELL ME WHEN IT WILL BE AVAILABLE. I PURCHASED A NEW CHEVY EQUINOX ON MAY 13, 2011 FROM MARITIME MOTORS IN FAIRFIELD, CT IT HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE FROM THE BEGINNING DRIVETRAIN/TIMING ISSUES, BUCKING ON ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION AND PULSING AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS AND STOP SIGNS. THE EQUINOX STILL OCCASIONALLY CLATTERS UPON STARTING (AFTER THE RECALL WAS APPARENTLY FIXED IN SUMMER 2011), AND THE VEHICLE ALSO PULSES AT STOP SIGNS AND TRAFFIC LIGHTS TO THE POINT IT FEELS LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL AND I HAVE TO REMOVE MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE TO STOP THE PULSING. I HAVE HAD NOTHING FROM MARITIME MOTORS (OR GENERAL MOTORS) IN TERMS OF SUPPORT ON THIS ISSUE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THE VEHICLE - I HAVE FIVE WITNESSES/PASSENGERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED MY CONCERNS. MY 2011 CHEVY EQUINOX 4 CYLINDER SHIFTS HORRIBLY BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD. IF YOU ACCELERATE TO APPROX. 20 MPH AND REMOVE YOUR FOOT FROM THE GAS THE TRANSMISSION HESITATES AND THEN IT SHIFTS TO 3RD GEAR WITH A JOLT THAT WOULD MAKE YOU THINK YOU WERE HIT FROM BEHIND. WHEN IT DOWN SHIFTS FROM 3RD TO 2ND IT IS LIKE AN ANCHOR WAS THROWN OUT THE BACK. RETURNED IT TO A CHEVY DEALER WHO WAS ABLE TO DUPLICATE IT BUT SAID THAT IT WAS NORMAL AND THAT ALL EQUINOX DO IT. THEY HAD THEIR DISTRICT MANAGER CHECK ON IT AND HE SAID THAT CHEVY DESIGNED IT TO DO THAT AND THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. IT IS GOING BACK AGAIN TOMORROW TO A DIFFERENT DEALER BUT I EXPECT TO HERE THE SAME STORY. AT 4000 MILES THE RADIATOR FAILED AND THE CAR OVERHEATED. REPLACED RADIATOR. AT THE SAME TIME THERE WAS AND STILL IS A CLUNKING AT LOW SPEEDS AND WHEN UP-SHIFTING. THE CLUNK HAS BEEN SO DRAMATIC THAT I THOUGHT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THAT I WAS HIT FROM THE REAR. IT ACTUALLY MAKES ME SICK TO MY STOMACH DRIVING THE CAR AND MAKES PEOPLE IN THE BACK SICKER. ADDITIONALLY SOME WHERE ABOVE 30 MILES AN HOUR THE CAR HAS SEVERAL TIMES HESITATED AS IF RUNNING OUT OF GAS. THE GAS PEDDLE DOES NOT RESPOND PROPERLY, HESITATING BEFORE CATCHING ON. NOW AT 11,000 AND THREE RETURN VISITS TO THE DEALER THEY SAY THAT THIS IS HOW ALL EQUINOX CARS HAVE THIS DRIVE PERFORMANCE AND IT IS "NORMAL" . THIS WAS NOT AN ISSUE WHEN WE FIRST GOT THE CAR AND HAD I BEEN TOLD THAT SOME EQUINOX DRIVE LIKE THIS, I WOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHT THE CAR KNOWING THIS. I KNOW FROM SEARCHING THE INTERNET THAT THIS WAS A PROBLEM IN 2009 AND STILL IS AND WAS SOLD A CAR THAT THEY KNEW COULD BE FAULTY WITHOUT A CURRENT SOFTWARE FIX. I HAD READ ONE COMPLAINT ON THE EQUINOX FORUM WHERE SOMEONE WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON AND SOMETHING VERY SIMILAR HAPPENED TO THEM WITH THE RPM STICKING AT 4 RPM'S. I STARTED TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE EQUINOX IN JULY, AUGUST AND AGAIN NOW, WITH THE STABILITY TRACT SERVICE LIGHT GOING ON AND LOSING POWER AND NOW THIS THIRD TIME WITH NO POWER TO THE TRANNY - I COULD NOT CHANGE GEARS, I WOULD GIVE IT GAS AND IT JUST WOULDN'T MOVE - THEN THE CAR POWER LOCKS GO CRAZY -LOCK AND UNLOCK AND THE TRANSMISSION JERKS. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR. I HOPE THEY FIX THIS PROBLEM AND FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG BEFORE SOMEONE OR MYSELF ARE IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH THE VEHICLE DECELERATED. WHEN THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE JERKED FORWARD AND CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE NORMALLY. THE TRANSMISSION WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE TRANSMISSION WOULD HAVE TO BE REBUILT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,500.

TRANSMISSION DOES NOT SHIFT PROPERLY. IT WILL EITHER HANG UP IN THE LAST GEAR OR SHIFT HARD WITH A CLUNK INTO THE NEXT GEAR. HAVE RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TWICE AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS IS NORMAL FOR A 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION. MY 2007 EQUINOX ALSO HAD A 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION AND NEVER SHIFTED LIKE THIS 2011 DOES. THIS IS THE 6TH CHEVROLET I'VE BOUGHT SINCE 2000. THINK THEY WOULD TRY TO DETERMINE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS BEFORE I OPT FOR ANOTHER AUTO MAKER. *KB

2011 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DEFECTIVE VEHICLE OPERATION AND SAFETY *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES, DUE TO IT RUNNING ROUGH, LOSS OF POWER, AN OVERWHELMING SMELL OF GASOLINE, A STICKY ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATING. THE DEALER REPLACED THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP, FUEL RAIL PRESSURE SENSOR AND AN ATTEMPTED REPAIR OF THE PCM AND THE REPROGRAMMING OF THE TAC. THE DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO RESOLVE THE DEFECTS. *JB

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 5,000.

FAILURE 2: AT APPROX. 20 T0 25 MPH I APPLIED MODERATE BRAKING AND NOTHING HAPPENED. I THEN APPLIED FULL HARD PRESSURE AND NOTHING. I THEN RELEASED AND REAPPLIED BRAKE PRESSURE AND IT WORKED JUST IN TIME.
