The vehicles electrical system failed or faulted while operating. Engine went into a slow mode while operating in traffic. After stopping vehicle would not restart. very dangerous for an elderly person operating the vehicle.

The engines in the 2014 equinox has a defect just like The Silverados.. they should have had a class action suit against that as well I've spoke with many ppl who had issues with their 2.4 eco tech engine it bucks at the stop signs cuts off and high fuel consumption

I used to go to Chevy for service and was seeing the same issue and got frustrated.  Starting going to Meineke and they found out that I had an ongoing oil consumption issue.  I contacted Chevy and GM.  They said the vehicle had too much mileage and I tried to explain the issue.  I went back to the Chevy dealership and they didn't find an oil consumption issue.  There was a major lawsuit in other states regarding this as well.  I didn't have all these issues brought to my attention until I went to Meineke and performed my own research.

I have had several codes pop up on my Equinox, such as P0016, P0017, P0089 and P228D. All of these codes are between the Crankshaft position, variable timing position and high pressure fuel issues. I almost wrecked my SUV because of these 3 factors and I have seen thousands of videos on YouTube with other people having the same issues. This is beyond dangerous to be out on the road driving and these codes pop up causing "Reduce Speed" warnings and "Stabilitrak". This will be the 2nd time I've had to replace the Crankshaft position sensor and Variable Timing Solenoid, along with a brand new timing kit that I had put on right after I bought the car over a year ago, that is now in need of repair. There has to be some way that Chevrolet can fix these issues for those of us who buy their vehicles. They are supposed to be safe, dependable, durable and last longer than what they do before they start having all of these issues. I have had so many problems with the last 2 Equinox's that I have owned and each one of them have all had the same error messages pop up within a year or less of driving them, some have lasted over a year. I as a vehicle owner should not be held responsible for these kinds of issues going on in a vehicle that I still owe for. Chevrolet needs to understand and take care of their customers to prevent accidents from happening, vehicles from breaking down after short periods of time and replace/repair these malfunctions at their cost so that people like me don't keep going out here spending hundreds of dollars for the same fix after a year or 2 replacing, and it sometimes still not even fix the problem. There are so many others out here with the same exact issues that I am having, P0016, P0017, P0089 and 228D codes all dealing with fuel, vehicle speed, Stabilitrak, etc. Something has to be done about this and there has to be a way where they can be fixed for longer than 50,000 miles

My car is sucking my oil extremely fast and my gas Mileage sucks I'm in and out of the shop several times for the same thing because my car likes to jerk me around. Ever since I got it in 2021 one, now it's 2023 and still to this day. It doesn't, they? Can't find out why. It's a big safty issue does it even going 70 on the freeway

My vehicle has all symptoms of the timing chain slipping or being loose. Just as millions of others who owns a chevy equinox with a 2.4 motor. Drives like crap, stalls out unexpectedly, which is very dangerous, exhaust fumes enter cabin of vehicle, toxicity to lungs. Extreme fuel intake consumption, erotic idle issues, extreme oil consumption all these issues have progressively gotten worse. This is very much a safety hazard in more than ONE way! GM needs to be held responsible and FIX THEIR problem selling such faulty and pitiful parts to their customers. After this I will NEVER own a chevy again. HIGHLY disappointed! Fixing a timing chain issue is NOT cheap, nor should it be the responsibility of any chevy equinox owner seeing as how there are so many other people who share the SAME issue, like duh. obviously, this is a manufacturer defect. HOW HAS THIS NOT BEEN RECALLED YET??????? This issue is a safety risk hazard to the customers of this vehicle. Obviously, the timing chains in these 2.4 motors of all years of equinox's are defective and GMC are the ones who need to be held responsible and fix THEIR mistakes, this is ridiculous, how has a recall not happened, there are millions of people with the SAME COMPLAINT???

The camshaft sensors have been replaced when the code POoo14 made the engine light Activate. I'm worried that the timing chain could possibly cause an accident if it seizes the engine. I have under 73,000 miles on a 2014 Chevy equinox. Please advise Thank you

Something wrong with the fueling system, and have a really bad oil leak, and the car burns oil so fast it’s ridiculous. We’re always having to add oil to the car, atleast a qt at a time.

THE VEHICLE WILL STALL WHENEVER STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN AND IN DRIVE. HAVE TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL TO KEEP RPM AT NORMAL LEVEL, OTHERWISE IT WILL GO DOWN TO 500 RPM OR SHUT OFF. VEHICLE RATTLES AND SHAKES WHEN DRIVING. CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY, REPLACED O2 SENSOR, HAD THE ENGINE REBUILT 6 MONTHS AGO BECAUSE OF A RECALL. THIS IS HIGHLY UNSAFE, UNRELIABLE AND ABSOLUTELY NOT OK FOR A CAR WITH 87,000 MILES. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL BECAUSE IT IS OBVIOUS FROM READING THROUGH DIFFERENT FORUMS ON THE INTERNET THAT A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME EXACT ISSUE AT DIFFERENT MILEAGES.

NO OIL IN VEHICLE. NO OIL LIGHT WARNING. DID NOT START. TOWED TO CHEVY DEALER THEY REPLACED TIMING CHAIN AND OIL LOSS ISSUE NEVER SOLVED. WAS RECOMMENDED TO SPEAK TO SENIOR ADVISORS. BUT ALL THEY EVER SAY IS THAT THIS VEHICLE HAD NO RECALLS. WHEN CHECKING DIFFERENT WEBSITES I FIND THIS IS A BIG ISSUE WITH EQUINOX'S FROM 2014-2017. WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW THEY DRAW THE LINE ON WHAT GETS RECALLED AND WHAT DOESN'T. THIS VEHICLE FALLS WITHIN THE PARAMETERS AND YEARS THAT GM HAD THIS PROBLEM. CAN'T GET ANY ANSWERS FROM THEM. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED. GREW UP AND ALWAYS HAD A GM AUTO. THIS WILL BE OUR LAST.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE AT STOP, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED ABNORMALLY WITHOUT WARNING. WHILE ENTERING THE DRIVEWAY OF HIS RESIDENCE, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND BECAME AWARE OF AN OIL AND GASOLINE LEAK UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BRYDEN MOTORS 548 BROAD ST, BELOIT, WI 53511 WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS INITIALLY DIAGNOSED WITH A DEFECTIVE REAR MAIN SEAL. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92.000.

THE 2014 CHEVY EQUINOX WILL STALL WHEN ACCELERATING. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS FIRST STARTED, THIS COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSEAN ACCIDENT. I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE IN NUMEROUS TIMES AND SPENT OVER 2K ON REPAIRS. CURRENTLY MY VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, NO CODES. IT APPEARS THAT EVERYTHING IS OPERATING NORMALLY. IT IS NOT, I WILL NOT LET MY WIFE DRIVE THIS CAR BECAUSE I AM WORRIED THAT SHE COULD BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. I RECENTLY FOUND THAT GM HAD IDENTIFIED THAT THIS VEHICLE CONSUMES A LARGE AMOUNT OF OIL AND IT CAUSING ISSUES SIMILAR TO WHAT I AM REPORTING. ONLY ISSUE IS THEY ARE REQUIRING A OIL CONSUMPTION TEST REQUIRING MULTIPLE VISITS TO THE DEALERSHIP OVER AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME. IN THE MEAN TIME I AM GOING TO CONTINUE TO STALL PULLING INTO TRAFFIC, PUTTING MY LIFE AND OTHERS LIFE AT RISK. THERE NEEDS TO BE A MANDATORY RECALL AND CORRECT THIS ISSUE. THE ATTACHED PICTURE SHOWS THE LAST TWO OIL CHANGES AND THE AMOUNT OF OIL RETRIEVED. MY MOST RECENT I HAD LESS THAN 2.5 QUARTS LEFT. THERE IS NO LEAK ON MY VEHICLE, AND I CHANGE MY OIL ABOUT EVERY 5K MILES PER MANUFACTURER SUGGESTIONS.

A WEEK AFTER AN OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION ON 6/12/2018 CHEVROLET EQUINOX, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND MY VEHICLE SHUTS OFF AUTOMATICALLY AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS AND WHEN I'M PARKING. I TOOK IT TO AUTOZONE FOR A FREE DIAGNOSTIC READING BUT NOTHING COMES UP EXCEPT A SUGGESTION TO CHANGE THE SOLENOID. THE TECH SUGGESTED I ADD STP GAS TREATMENT. AFTER THE FIRST BOTTOM AND DRIVING 200 PLUS MILES OUT OF STATE, THE LIGHT WENT OFF BRIEFLY. I'VE ADDED 2 MORE BOTTLES OF GAS TREATMENT AND DROVE BACK HOME BUT MY VEHICLES IS STILL SHUTTING OFF AND THE ENGINE LIGHT IS BACK ON. I WAS IN BALTIMORE ON 7/12, AND MY VEHICLE SHUT OFF AT 3 TRAFFIC LIGHTS. I WAS FORTUNATE THAT THE PEOPLE BEHIND ME DIDN'T RESEND ME. I WAS IN NJ THIS WEEKEND AND IT SHUT OFF AT MULTIPLE TRAFFIC LIGHTS AND STOP SIGNS. I'M TAKING IT TO AUTOZONE TOMORROW TO GET A PRINTOUT OF THE DIAGNOSTICS THEN TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. HOWEVER, MY FEAR IS THEY WILL CHARGE ME FOR WORK THAT WON'T FIX THE ISSUE. WHY HASN'T M DON'T A RECALL FOR THE 2014 MODEL? THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND NONE OF US SHOULD GET REAR ENDED AND HURT FOR THEM TO FORMALLY DO A RECALL.

ON JAN 13 MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON I DIDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR BEFORE THIS AND I WENT TO SCHOOL WHEN STARTING THE CAR AT 5PM WITH NO PROBLEMS. I WAS DRIVING HOME AND IT SMELLED REALLY BAD SO I STOPPED THE CAR AND OIL WAS LEAKING OUT EVERYWHERE. I HAD AUTO ZONE PULL THE CODES AND WHEN I TRIED TO START IT IT WOULDN'T START. THE CODES P0014, P2280, P0089, P0366, P0017, P0011 ALL CAME ON. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY HAD TO FIX THE CRANKSHAFT REAR OIL SEAL, PLUGGED PCV THAT CAUSE EXCESS PRESSURE, RXR INTAKE, CAMSHAFT POSITION ACTUATOR SOLENOID VALVE, EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS REPLACED BUT SAID THE FUEL PUMP DIDN'T GO BAD FROM ALL THESE ISSUES AND TOLD ME I NEED TO REPLACE IT. I NEVER HAD A PROBLE WITH ANYTHING TELL THIS DAY AND WANT TO KNOW WHY THAT WASN'T REPLACED SINCE IT WAS CONNECTED TO THE ENGINE. NOW MY CAR WOULDN'T START WHEN I TURN IT OVER CAUSE OF THIS ISSUE.

WHEN GOING IN REVERSE, OR COMING OFF A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN, THE VEHICLE WILL SUDDENLY STALL OUT. WHILE IT STARTS UP RIGHT AWAY, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY. MY VEHICLE HAS DONE THIS ABOUT 4-6 TIMES OVER THE PAST YEAR. CHEVY SAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG, AND THERE ARE NO WARNING LIGHTS ON THE VEHICLE. ALL THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS WORK, HOWEVER THE VEHICLE JUST TURNS OFF.

THE FUEL SYSTEM DOESN'T ACCURATELY REFLECT THE AMOUNT OF GAS IN THIS VEHICLE. IT SAYS IS HAS A FULL TANK WHEN IT IS ALMOST EMPTY. THIS IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE OWNERS DO NOT KNOW WHEN THE CAR IS RUNNING LOW ON GAS. RUNNING OUT GAS ON HIGHWAYS OR IN THE MOUNTAINS CAN BE A DEADLY RESULT.

MAY 2016, HAD ISSUE WITH MY 2014 EQUINOX INVOLVING THE ACCELEROMETER PEDAL & SENSOR DUE TO FAULTY WIRING. MY VEHICLE WAS JUST LESS THAN 2 YEARS OLD WITH 62K MILES AT THE TIME. WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, WHEN THE MALFUNCTION OCCURRED AND SENT THE VEHICLE INTO REDUCED ENGINE POWER MODE. WHEN THIS HAPPENED THE VEHICLE STARTED TO QUICKLY LOSE SPEED DOWN AS IT HAPPENED JUST PRIOR TO GOING UP A HILL. HAD TO TRY AND GET VEHICLE OFF TO SHOULDER OF HIGHWAY, ACCELERATION PEDAL WAS COMPLETELY INOPERABLE DURING THIS TIME. CALL WAS PLACED TO GM REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND MY CONCERNS THAT IT COULD HAVE LEAD TO A CRASH, INJURY OR WORSE. GM HAD NO INTEREST IN COVERING THIS PROBLEM UNDER ANY WARRANTY AND DID NOT SEEM CONCERNED AT ALL WITH THE ISSUE OR MY CONCERNS THAT THE PROBLEM COULD HAVE LEAD TO A CRASH, INJURY OR WORSE. IN THE END I WAS LEFT WITH A $475 REPAIR CHARGE TO REPLACE AN $80 PART BY THE GM DEALERSHIP.

WE PULLED OVER THE CAR COASTED AND DIED. WE BARELY MISSED GETTING REAR ENDED BY A SEMI. AFTER TWO DAYS THE REPAIR WAS DONE AND STATED AS "ECM SHORTED" FOUND ECM SHORTED INTERNALLY OFF PIN 73 1 SHORTED OUT UNDER HOOD FUSE BLOCK..THIS IS A 2014 CHEVY EQUINOX WITH17K MILES.

WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT AT LOW SPEED OR STOPPED, GROANING OR RUBBING NOISE IS EMITTED FROM FRONT TIRES. CAR IS 1 MONTH OLD, HAS APPROX. 5000 MILES ON IT NOW AND PROBLEM STILL CONTINUES AFTER 2 ATTEMPTS FOR DEALER TO REPAIR IT. DURING FILL UPS, THE GAS PUMP WOULD CLICK/STOP AND FUEL WOULD SPLASH BACK OUT OF TANK AND DOWN SIDE OF CAR. THIS HAPPENED WHETHER YOU SET THE AUTOMATIC FILL UP SWITCH ON THE FUEL PUMP, OR IF MANUALLY FILLING THE CAR MYSELF. 2 COMPLAINTS LATER, THE WHOLE GAS TANK HAD TO BE REPLACED. 2 DAYS IN A ROW, ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, THE SMELL OF BURNING PLASTIC AND/OR ELECTRICAL WIRES HAS BEEN NOTICED INSIDE VEHICLE, AND IS MORE DEFINED WHEN OUTSIDE OF VEHICLE AND SMELLING ENGINE AREA. *TR
