I bought a vehicle from a small dealership as a "as is". My passenger side door shifted. Its does not state on the title and I was not told that it was in a accident. I have had this vehicle about a month now. I have a loan against it.
I am submitting this complaint due to a serious mechanical failure involving the vehicle’s transmission system. The transmission developed a fluid leak that resulted in a sudden loss of proper hydraulic pressure, causing abrupt and unintended vehicle movement while driving. This malfunction created a hazardous driving condition and nearly caused an accident. Given that the vehicle has approximately 77,000 miles, this type of transmission failure is premature and raises concerns regarding a potential manufacturing or component defect. Immediate review and corrective action are requested due to the safety implications of this issue.
When I was driving down the street, I noticed smoke coming from the hood then flames . I parked off to the side of the road and open the door and took off running away from the vehicle. Loosing everything clothes, phones , jewelry important documents. I paid off the vehicle. Was happy that for once in my life I did something good until that happen so please help on what to do . I know I didn't pay off the SUV for nothing.
My vehicle has been cranking when trying to turn on. Sometimes when it does turn on, it will engage the anti theft system. It will also turn on my 4-ways, and windshield wipers other times without me triggering these buttons. Sometimes it will say that I don’t have power steering. Other times, my AC will not work. It puts me and my family at risk because if the system is continuously having issues, I worry that something bad will happen while we are driving! I saw that there are other similar complaints online for the 2015 Chevy equinox. I have no dashboard lights on, other than tire pressure light (which my tire pressure is fine, but the sensor for this has malfunctioned as well). This has been an ongoing and worsening issue since January 2024. I purchased the vehicle with no issues in December 2023.
Stabili Trak needs service every other month and I have had it done over 5 times and am back again getting it serviced. It’s scary especially when it affects the brakes and ABS system
We have had nothing but issues with our Chevrolet equinox. The recall that says it is not fixed is actually fixed!! There was no fix when it malfunctioned in the middle of a rain storm and I had to drive an hour and a half very slowly to get home! So we had to have a fixed for it so we took it to motor Inn in Carroll, Iowa, and they put a new windshield wiper on! How did they expect us to go without windshield wipers when they didn’t have a fix at the time? And now we are having issues with our transmission. Our car starts to jerk and lurch forward when we’re driving. It is constantly having the check engine light come on because the engine is burning oil! And sometimes when you shut the vehicle off, it’ll try starting itself again! If you look at all the used car lots around us. It’s nothing but Chevy equinox and I’m betting it’s because people are having so many problems they’re getting rid of them.! I was driving home after picking up my grandson. He was playing on his iPad, and all of I heard something that sounded like a gun shot. Huge pop noise. I didn't know what it was, drove home, didn't think anything of it as I had my grandson. Started to drive my car again and it sounded like there was a door or window open. I check. Nothing. Then thought of the sunroof. Came to a stop and looked at it. Sure enough it shattered. Popped up. Glass is still intact. But shattered.
Oil consumption issues, engine failure, does not indicate oil low light when oil is low, catalytic converter failure
I have a 2015 Chevy equinox LS. I have had 4 incidents recently of when coming to a stop the car dies. this has happened at red lights and stop signs. one of the incidents a car almost crashed into the rear of my car because of it dying at a red light. the car does not make any noises when this occurs. the car does not display any warning messages. the car does not have any warning lights come on. after the vehicle dies without warning, it does crank back immediately when I turn the ignition to start it. the vehicle has been maintenance regularly since I purchased the car in November 2023. again there was no warning messages nor warning lights displayed at anytime to warn me or tell me what the issue is....I am an avid user of the Chevrolet app as well as have OnStar membership and the information on the app doesn't show anything regarding issues or warnings occuring.
I am constantly having to add oil and get oil changes it burns through oil about 3 quarts every month if not more and it is costing me way more than I should have to be doing and it is a serious problem that something should be done about
Pcv valve is bad which caused my rear main valve to fail. I have always kept up on my maintenance, paid on my car for 6 years. It was paid off for 2 months and this all happened.
My car runs hot (even with all of my fluids). If I drive "too far" (25-30 mins) driving over 55mph while it's hot outside, my check engine light comes on, all the gauges in my car start going back and forth. A couple different alarms will go off (Service All Wheel Drive System, Service StabiliTrak, Service Park Assist) . My engine revs and my car will start jerking. Sometimes my car won't even start back up right away. My car jerks going up hills. For close to two years my radio and back up camera stopped working, and out of nowhere it started working fine. My tires often lose air. My windshield wiper motor has gone out twice.
The paint on my car started bubbling and falling off i contacted my local chevy dealer who told me too bad its outside of the warranty , the paint is defective
PCV valve froze forcing pressure to blow the rear main seal while driving. Oil went everywhere yet no engine warning light ever came on, just a strong odor. I did not realize what had happened until I parked and found a puddle of oil trailing me. Fortunately I got it to a mechanic in time before the engine locked. However, GM has posted service bulletins and acknowledges this defect yet has not issued a recall. In terms of safety this could cause you to be stranded in an unsafe location or unsafe conditions such as below freezing temps with no heat while waiting for a tow truck assuming you have cell reception to call one.
I was driving to work and when I stopped at a stop light my vehicle stalled. It started up again and whenI went to park it at work, it stalled again. It started again and did not experience any more stalling after that incidence. No check engine light ever came on, however I decided to have it checked over anyway as I did not think it should be stalling. That is when I had the repairs done.
Timing chain issues
Vehicle stalled out at a stoplight, no warning lights or errors. Brought to dealership for service, where they found the cam shaft actuator solenoid control valve wasn’t working, and had to be replaced. Looking online, saw others having the same issue with this particular car (and a history of recall for the same issue on an older model) and so decided to submit a report. Obviously having a car stall in the middle of traffic is a safety risk. I am a relatively new driver, and fortunately had a friend in the car, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have known what to do, and my stalling might have presented a real hazard to others on the road.
While driving car starts to sputter and stalls, just shuts off, both on city streets and highway. While going 70 mph it just stopped. We were lucky no one was driving right behind us or we would have been plowed over. Called Chevy corporate on at least 2 different occasions. They document and that’s as far as it goes. This is a random occurrence. It gets better and is fine for a while and then all of the sudden the issue starts again. We have changed gas, changed gas cap, & have had 2 timing solenoids replaced (all on different occasions) All of this seems to work for a bit and then the issue starts back. There is no warning when this happens. We have had the vehicle at an independent service center last year and it is now currently at another service center. It is just a matter of time before it stalls on the highway and someone gets killed. I’ve added the 1st initial time this happened (below). But there have been many more with the most recent being yesterday, May 25, 2021.
THE WIPERS STOP WORKING DURING USE AND WIPER TRANSMISSION OR BUSHINGS HAVE TO BE REPLACED FREQUENTLY. IT HAD HAPPENED IN 05/2020 12/20 AND NOW 3/21. WIPERS STOP WORKING WHILE DRIVING, EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.

THE VEHICLE HAS A EXHAUST SMELL IN CABIN. THE FUMES ARE CONCERNING BECAUSE IT'S COULD CAUSE CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING. THIS IS NOT SAFE AND GM SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. I REVIEW NUMEROUS FORMS AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE. THIS COULD CAUSE SERIOUS HEALTH ISSUES.
WHEN I CRANK MY CAR TO LET IT RUN BEFORE DRIVING OFF, THE DOORS AUTOMATICALLY LOCK WHEN I ATTEMPT TO GET BACK IN THE CAR. MY CAR IS THEN LEFT RUNNING WITH THE DOORS LOCKED AND I HAVE TO CALL FOR ASSISTANCE.
WITH NOT QUITE 63,000 MILES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEEPS COMING IN AND I GET ALERTS FROM ON-STAR. MY MECHANIC LOOKED IT UP AND AN OCCURRING PROBLEM WITH THIS YR. ITS A VALVE THAT SENDS OIL TO THE DUAL CAMS...IT HAD NO POWER AND WAS USING WAY MORE HAS AND OIL THAN USUAL...THIS IS THE 4TH TIME IN A MONTH IT HAS BEEN LOOKED AT...IT ALSO SEEMS TO HAVE THE LURCHING TRANNY PROBLEM

VEHICLE MAKING A RATTLING SOUND FOR A FEW DAYS WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEED AND STOPPED WHEN AT HIGH RATE OF SPEED ON ALL ROADS. LOW OIL LIGHT NEVER INDICATED OIL WAS LOW. IT WAS STILL AT 8 PERCENT WHEN I TOOK IT IN AND HAD MILES TO GO UNTIL MY NEXT OIL CHANGE. I NEVER GO OVER THE MILES AND ALWAYS CHANGE MY OIL. THE MECHANIC INDICATED IT WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH CHEVY EQUINOX TO BURN EXCESSIVE OIL AND TO EVENTUALLY HAVE TO REPAIR THE PISTONS OR ENGINE. CALLED [XXX] WHERE I BOUGHT IT AND SEVERAL OTHER CHEVY SUVS AND THEY SAID MY VIN ISN'T COVERED UNDER THE 150000 WARRANTY FOR THIS KNOWN PROBLEM. HE ADVISED IT DIDN'T COME OUT OF THE FACTORY THAT WAS KNOWN FOR THIS PROBLEM. I TOLD HIM THEIR IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM AND INDICATED VEHICLES FROM 2010 - 2017 ARE ALSO HAVING THIS PROBLEM. THAN, HE CHANGED HIS TUNE ON NOTHING HE COULD DO AND OFFERED TO MONITOR MY OIL EVERY 1000 MILES AND IF IT'S BURNING EXCESSIVE OIL AND NEEDS PISTONS OR A NEW ENGINE DUE TO THIS IT WILL BE MY COST. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON GOT A NOTIFICATION FROM ONSTAR STATING THAT ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION SYSTEM ISSUE HAS BEEN DETECTED. ALSO WHEN I SHUT DOWN MY VEHICLE AND RESTARTED IT THE STARTER KEEP MAKING THIS SOUND LIKE IT WANTED TO START AND DID NOT THEN DID. THEN I GOT A MESSAGE ON THE DASH SAYING THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH POWER STEERING.

SO FAR IT HASN'T CAUSED ANY PROBLEMS BUT WHEN WE TRAVEL I'VE COME TO DEPEND ON THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM AND WOULDN'T WANT IT TO DO THIS WHEN A DIRECTION COMES UP. 2015 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH WHEN SUNROOF SHATTERED. I HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND DID NOT SEE ANYTHING THAT COULD HAVE HIT MY CAR. I PULLED THE COVER BACK ON THE SUNROOF TO SEE IF I COULD SEE WHAT HAPPENED. THE ONLY THING I COULD SEE WAS GLASS CRACKED INTO A MILLION PIECES. THE SUNROOF SHATTERED OUT OF NO WHERE. GLASS FLEW OFF THE TOP OF MY SUV WHILE OTHER DRIVERS WERE BEHIND ME, WHICH PUT MANY DRIVERS IN DANGER. FIRST MY WIPERS STOP WORKING OUT OF THE BLUE AND NOW MY SUNROOF SHATTERS. THESE VEHICHLES ARE DEFECTIVE AND NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. RECALLS SHOULD BE ISSUED FOR THE 2015 CHEVROLET EQUINOX IN THE UNITED STATES BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR LOOSES THEIR LIFE.
WATER IN FLOOR BOARD ON DRIVER SIDE! HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE. THIS TIME IT'S BAD! HAD IT CHECKED OUT AT THE DEALER BUT, THEY COULDN'T FINE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG! LOOKED IT UP AND IT'S BEEN HAPPING TO QUITE A FEW OF THESE CARS FROM 2007 ON UP! IT'S BEEN A PROBLEM FOR AWHILE! CAN YOU FIX THE PROBLEM?

ON 4-14-29 MY CAR STALLED WHILE DRIVING MULTIPLE TIMES. I HAD IT TAKEN IN TO A GM DEALERSHIP ON 4-15-19 AND THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE THRU THE PISTON RINGS THAT HAS CAUSED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. THERE PROPOSAL WAS EITHER A $3500 FIX OR A NEW ENGINE FOR $7000. I CALLED GM MYSELF (COMPAINT REFERENCE #[XXX]) AND THEY STATED THAT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND CURRENTLY UNDER INVESTIGATION BUT THAT MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED ON THE RECALL LIST TO HAVE IT FIXED. THEY INFORMED ME TO SAVE RECIEPTS UPON PAYMENT FOR ANY REPAIRS I HAD DONE INCASE LATER IN THE FUTURE THERE WAS A RECALL. I WAS ADVISED TO DISCUSS MY ISSUE WITH THE CUSTOMER EXPERIECE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR SOME RESOLUTION. UPON DISCUSSION WITH THEM THEY STATED THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO AT THIS TIME AS THEY CAN ONLY FIX "KNOWN" ISSUE WITH PERMISSION FROM GM. THE DEALERSHIP ALSO ADVISED THAT IT WOULD BE RIDICULOUS FOR ME TO PAY $7000 TO HAVE ANOTHER ENGINE ADDED INTO MY VEHICLE AS THIS ENGINE WOULD MORE THAN LIKELY HAVE THE SAME ISSUES. THEY ADVISED ME TO RENT A CAR UNTIL I COULD DECIDE WHAT TO DO. THE RENTAL CAR WAS $55/DAY EQUALING TO $1650 A MONTH WHICH IS NOT FEASIBLE. I HAD TO PICK UP MY CAR TODAY FROM THE DEALERSHIP AS I NEED TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM WORK AS I WORK 45MIN AWAY AND THERE IS NOT ANOTHER OPTION AT THIS TIME. I WAS GIVEN A PAPER WITH DETAILS OF WORK NEEDED FROM DEALERSHIP THAT I WILL SAVE FOR FUTURE REFERENCE. ON MY WAY HOME MY CAR STALLED MULTIPLE TIMES AGAIN. IT DOES INDEED TURN OVER AND RESTART ONCE DEAD, BUT THIS POSES A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD TO NOT ONLY MYSELF BUT OTHER DRIVERS ON THE STREET AS WELL. HOPE THERE IS SOME RESOLUTION TO THIS AS I HAVE READ MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ONLINE FROM OTHER DRIVERS WITH THE SAME CAR, SPECIFICALLY THE 2.4L ECOTECH ENGINE, WHICH IS WHAT I HAVE. THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN THE CAR GOT STUCK IN PARK. NOW THE KEY WANT COME OUT THE IGNITION. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER HE SAID THE PASSENGER AIRBAG MODULE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND THE BATTERY TERMINAL NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
THE KEY HAS BROKEN OUT OF THE KEY FAB WITH BOTH SETS OF MY KEYS SINCE OWNING THE VEHICLE (LESS THAN 4 YEARS). THE FIRST BROKEN WHEN CLICKING THE SMALL SILVER CIRCLE BUTTON TO UNLATCH THE KEY. IT THEN BROKE OFF, WITH MULTIPLE PIECES SCATTERING ACROSS MY DRIVEWAY. THE SECOND ISSUE WAS TODAY WHEN I WAS DRIVING. MY KEYFAB, 2 KEYS (FOR WORK AND HOME) AND AUTOMATIC STARTER DROPPED IN MY LAP WITH MY KEY STILL IN THE IGNITION. THIS KEY HAS BEEN USED FOR ONLY ABOUT 9 MONTHS AS I USED MY PREVIOUS KEY UNTIL IT BROKE.

EXTREME DESIGN FLAWS. REAR-SIDE/CORNER VIEW WINDOWS ARE TOO SMALL & LOCATION IS OF NO HELP VISUALLY. BACK SEAT HEAD RESTS ARE NON-REMOVABLE & BLOCK VIEW OF MERGING TRAFFIC. WE MUST FOLD DOWN BACK SEATS FOR SAFETY. RARELY DO WE CARRY BACK SEAT PASSENGERS; BACK SEAT HEAD RESTS SHOULD BE REMOVABLE.
A/C VENTS HAVE BEEN SPEWING SHINY WHITE FLAKES THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE FOR ABOUT 2 1/2 YEARS WHICH THE DEALER DID NOT INVESTIGATE TO FIND THE THEIR SOURCE NOR DID THEY REPAIR THE VEHICLE WHILE IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY SAYING THE FLAKES WERE DUST OR POLLEN. I HAD SAMPLES OF THE FLAKES ANALYZED BY ANALYTICS CORP. OF ASHLAND, VA AND THE TESTS SHOWED A PLETHORA OF ELEMENTS TO INCLUDE ONES THAT ARE CONSIDERED TOXIC. I PUT A CLAIM IN WITH GENERAL MOTORS AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD HAVE THE DEALER REPLACE THE EVAPORATOR CORE ID I SIGN A RELEASE/NON DISCLOSURE AGREEMENT GIVING UP ALL FUTURE RIGHTS AND CLAIMS. HOWEVER, I DON'T IF THE EVAPORATOR CORE IS THE SOURCE OF THESE TOXIC METALS.
WINDSHIELD WIPERS - FRONT, COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. DEALERSHIP SAID AND REPLACED WIPER MODULE, 84241847:SL-N (10150-CT). THIS WAS IN A RECALL FOR THE EQUINOX. DEALERSHIP SAID OUR CAR WAS NOT RECALLED. ALSO, CAR WAS PRODUCED IN THEIR CANADIAN PLANT WHERE THEY WERE HAVING ISSUES WITH SAME. FOUND IT IRONIC AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND EXPRESSED THAT TO GM WHEN CUSTOMER SERVICE CALLED & OFFERED $100.

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP YESTERDAY. FOUND THAT RODENTS HAD EATEN THROUGH WIRE TO OXYGEN SENSOR CAUSING IT TO ARCH. TOLD US THIS WAS THE SECOND VEHICLE THEY HAD REPAIRED WITH THIS DAMAGE YESTERDAY. SUSPICION THAT NON-PETROLEUM BASED WIRE CAUSING RODENTS TO EAT WIRES. ARCHING CAN CAUSE FIRES. WE ARE SENIOR CITIZENS ON FIXED INCOME. HAD BOUGHT EXTENDED WARRANTY TO PROTECT US FROM UNEXPECTED REPAIRS, BUT WERE TOLD THIS WAS NOT COVERED. IF THEY ARE MANUFACTURING WIRE COVERING IN SOMETHING LIKE SOY OIL THAT ATTRACTS RODENTS, HOW CAN WE BE HELD RESPONSIBLE. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS HURT IN THIS INCIDENT EXCEPT IN THE POCKETBOOK. SOMEONE ELSE MAY NOT BE SO LUCKY.
SUNROOF PROBLEMS, I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE. IT WAS A NICE DAY ABOUT 73 DEGREES WITH NOBODY AROUND THE VEHICLE AND SUDDENLY I HEARD A LOUD NOISE (SOUNDED LIKE A SHOTGUN GOING OFF). I INVESTIGATED BY OPENING THE SUNROOF SUNSHADE AND COULD SEE THE SUNROOF HAD SHATTERED UPWARDS. I CONTINUED ABOUT A MILE AND EXITED OFF INTERSTATE AND LOOKED AT THE SUNROOF FROM THE OUTSIDE OF THE EQUINOX AND YOU COULD HEAR IT CONTINUING TO CRACK. I DECIDED AT THAT POINT TO TAKE A SECONDARY ROAD HOME ABOUT 4 MILES AND LOST A PIECE OF THE SUNROOF BEFORE I GOT BACK HOME. THERE NEED TO BE SOME TYPE OF POLY GLASS IN THIS TYPE OF ROOF TO PREVENT SHATTERED GLASS FROM FLYING OFF AND HITTING OTHER VEHICLES AND TO PROTECT THE OCCUPANTS FROM DANGER.

WE PULLED FUSE 32 ACCORDING TO THE MANUAL (AN EXTRA 12-V OUTLET IS REQUIRED TO BE INSTALLED BECAUSE THE LAW REQUIRES US TO HAVE ADDITIONAL BRAKING IN THE TOWED). MY BRAKING SYSTEM REQUIRES A 12-V OUTLET AND FUSE 32 KILLS THE FACTORY INSTALLED OUTLET. 4 TIMES IN MY TRAVELS, MY TOWED HAS STARTED THRASHING ABOUT (WOBBLING) AFTER HITTING A SMALL BUMP ON A HIGHWAY (ABOUT 55-60 MPH)-- TO THE POINT THAT THE MOTORHOME IS THROWN ABOUT. A COMPLETE STOP IS REQUIRED IN ORDER TO MAKE IT STOP WOBBLING. THE HITCH HAS BEEN CHECKED BY 3 DIFFERENT HITCH SPECIALISTS -- NO PROBLEM. HITCH HEIGHT IS CORRECT. WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE CHEVY DEALER IN ELK CITY, OK. TOLD HIM OF THE PROBLEM, HE HAD A TECH LOOK IT OVER AND COULD FIND NO PROBLEM. WE ARE NOW TRAVELING BACK TO CA, BUT NO LONGER ENJOYING OUR EQUINOX FOR FEAR THAT AT ANY TIME IT WILL START WOBBLING. INTERNET SEARCHES REVEAL WE ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES HAVING THIS PROBLEM.

SINCE I HAVE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE, I NOTICED LOUD NOISES COMING FROM THE BRAKES WHEN APPLYING PRESSURE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. NOT ONLY THAT, BUT WHILE DRIVING IT MAKES A KNOCKING SOUND. I WAS TOLD BY ONE OF THERE MECHANICS IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT IT WAS OK! THE EQUINOX IS KNOWN TO MAKE A LITTLE NOISE WHILE DRIVING. IT HAS BEEN TO THERE SHOP OVER 3 TIMES FOR SEVERAL DAYS AT A TIME IN LESS THAN A MONTH AND STILL THE PROBLEM CONTINUES. THEY EXPLAINED EVERYTHING THEY FIXED TO MAKE SURE THAT THE NOISE WAS GONE AND THE BRAKES WERE IN GOOD WORKING CONDITION. WHEN I ASKED FOR PROOF THEY WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE IT. I AM NOT A MECHANIC BUT I DO NOT BELIEVE FOR ONE MINUTE THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE MAKING ANY NOISE AT ALL LET ALONE NOISES WHEN YOU APPLY PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES. I HAVE REITERATED OVER AND OVER AGAIN TO RICK HENDRICKS CHEVY DULUTH THAT THERE IS A BRAKE ISSUE GOING ON WITH THE VEHICLE THAT COULD POSSIBLY BE DEADLY AND I WAS TOLD THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I TRY TO LIMIT THE AMOUNT OF DRIVING I DO TO IMPORTANT PLACES ONLY SEEING AS THE NOISE IS STILL THERE.

THIS IS DESPITE THE FACT THAT THEY USE THE SAME PART (MOTORS) FOR THE WIPERS IN OTHER MODEL.

MY DEALER, DALE EARNHARDT GMC TALLAHASSEE FL, REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING SAYING IT IS NOT A GM PROBLEM. I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING AND THERE ARE LOTS OF OTHER INSTANCES OF THIS HAPPENING TO OTHER GMC AND OTHER MANUFACTURER MODELS. MY CAR WAS STATIONARY AND IN MY PARKING LOT AT WORK.

DESIGN FLAW BETWEEN THE PEDALS AND THE SEAT HAVE CAUSED ME TO HAVE SCIATIC PAIN. I HAD THE CAR JUST SHORT OF 2 YEARS BECAUSE I COULDN'T TAKE THE PAIN ANYMORE. THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE PEDALS BOTH VERTICALLY AND HORIZONTALLY ARE A PROBLEM. I ONLY RELATED THE PROBLEM TO THE CAR WHEN I WAS NOT DRIVING THE CAR FOR A THREE WEEK PERIOD, MY PAIN WAS GONE. I STARTED DRIVING THE CAR AGAIN AND THE PAIN RETURNED. I TESTED IT AGAIN, BY RENTING A DIFFERENT VEHICLE FOR A 5 DAY PERIOD AND THE PAIN WENT AWAY AGAIN AND A DAY AFTER RESUMING DRIVING MY EQUINOX THE PAIN RETURNED. I TRADED THE CAR IN THIS PAST WEEKEND (20170225) SO I COULD LIVE MY LIFE PAIN FREE.

ON 11/28/2014 I WAS DRIVING SOUTH ON I-49 TO SHREVEPORT, LA DURING A LIGHT RAIN. DRIVING OUR 2015 EQUINOX LT AT 65 MPH IN CRUISE CONTROL AND ECO DRIVE WITH ABOUT 6,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. ON LEVEL GROUND WITH NO VEHICLES IN FRONT FOR MILES OUR FONTAL CRASH ALERT SYSTEM CAME ON WITH THE WARNING NOISE AND A STRONG APPLICATION OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM. IT FELT AS THE ENGINE QUIT AND WE COASTED A SHORT DISTANCE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROADWAY. I THOUGHT WE WERE STRANDED BUT UPON APPLICATION OF THE THROTTLE THE ENGINE RESPONDED. THE SPEED LIMIT IF 70 MPH AND USUALLY CARRIES MANY 18 WHEELERS. HAD THERE BEEN ONE BEHIND US A SERIOUS COLLISION MAY HAVE OCCURRED. ON DECEMBER 8 2014 WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO OUR LOCAL DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THEY PROVIDED ANOTHER CAR AND INSPECTED OURS FOR A DAY AND A HALF FINDING NO PROBLEMS. THE REPORTED EVEN A MECHANIC TAKING THE CAR TO HIS HOME THAT NIGHT WITH NO PROBLEMS. HE LIVES SOME DISTANCE FROM THE DEALER. AS WE PICKED UP OUR CAR THE SERVICE MANAGER WAS RUNNING SOME RECORDS INTO THEIR COMPUTER CONCERNING THEIR INSPECTION. WE ASKED FOR COPIES AND WAS ADVISED BY THE MANAGER THEY WOULD BE SENT TO US IN THE MAIL. AS OF MARCH 24, 2016 WE HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY RESPONSE FROM THE DEALER OR THAT MANAGER. UPON CHECKING THE GOVERNMENT FILES I NOW FIND OTHER CASES OF THIS SITUATION WITH THE FCA.

AFTER DRIVING VEHICLE FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 - 30 MINUTES OR MORE THE VEHICLE EMITS A TOXIC TYPE OF ODOR/VAPOR THAT POLLUTING INSIDE OF THE CABIN. THE AIR QUALITY IN THE VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE CHECKED WHILE DRIVING. IF THE WEATHER IS COLD, THERE IS A DELAY. IT IS UNCLEAR IF THERE IS A SPECIFIC ENGINE COMPONENT THAT IS CREATING THE SICKENING VAPOR OR IF THE TOXICITY IS FROM THE CHEMICALS USED TO PREVENT CORROSION/MOLD ON THE ENGINE, INSIDE THE EVAPORATOR CASE, EVAPORATOR, HEATER CORE, BLOWERS, & THE AIR DUCT SYSTEM. OR THE CHEMICALS USED TO TREAT THE INTERIOR UPHOLSTERY. NONE THE LESS, THE COMBINATION OF THE CHEMICALS IS SICKENING WHILE TRAVELING INSIDE THE VEHICLE WITH OR WITHOUT THE AC OR HEAT ON. INITIALLY IT WAS BELIEVED THIS WAS AN ISOLATED SITUATION. IN THE PROCESS OF ATTEMPTED DIAGNOSIS; SEVERAL CHEVROLET VEHICLES HAVE BEEN RENTED AND THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM EXIST.
THE CAR WAS IN PARK & I WAS SITTING IN IT ON THE TOP OF MY DRIVEWAY. I WAS ABOUT TO OPEN THE DOOR WHEN IT STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARDS WHILE STILL IN PARK. IT STARTED TO PICK UP SPEED & DID NOT STOP UNTIL IT HIT A TREE. I WAS SO SHOCKED BY WHAT WAS HAPPENING & THE FACT THAT I LIVE ON THE RIVER EVEN THOUGH NEARLY 900 FEET AWAY ALL I COULD THINK OF WAS IT WAS GOING TO ROLL STRAIGHT IN THE RIVER. I JUMPED OUT OF THE CAR & SEVERELY INJURED MYSELF WITH A CONCUSSION , CRACKED RIBS & A BROKEN NOSE. THE CAR WAS IN PARK & STARTED TO ROLL WHILE STILL IN PARK. WHEN IT FINALLY CAME TO STOP BY HITTING A TREE IT WAS STILL IN PARK. MY MECHANIC BELIEVES IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. GENERAL MOTORS SENT SOMEONE OUT TWICE & AT THIS POINT WE ARE IN LIMBO. THE CAR IS NOT DRIVEABLE - IF WE HAVE IT REPAIRED MY INSURANCE DOES NOT FEEL IT IS A SAFE CAR TO DRIVE WITH OUT KNOWING THE REASON IT ROLLED BACK. GM HAS NOT BEEN HELPFUL OR VERY FORTHCOMING. I HAVE MANY PICTURES BUT WAS HAVING A PROBLEM UPLOADING THEM. IF YOU NEED TO SEE THEM I CAN MAIL THEM IF I STILL CAN NOT UPLOAD THEM.

THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME, THE FIRST TIME NO CRUISE WAS BEING USED. I HAD TO APPLY THE BRAKE PEDAL TO GAIN CONTROL AGAIN. CAR IS CURRENTLY AT CHEVY DEALER BEING CHECKED. THERE WAS NO THREAT OR CARS IN FRONT OF ME. I AM NOW SCARED TO DRIVE WITH THE SAFETY FEATURES TURNED ON.

THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER LENS ALLOWS FOR AN EXCESSIVE GLARE THAT NOT ONLY PREVENTS THE DRIVER FROM BEING ABLE TO ADEQUATELY READ THE SETTINGS OF THE ANALOG GAUGES, BUT IS ALSO A NUISANCE AND A DISTRACTION ALLOWING THE GLARE FROM THE LENS/COVERS TO BLIND THE DRIVER'S VISION, IN ADDITION TO THE GLARE THAT COMES FROM THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER.
