The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet HHR. The contact stated that the underbody and rear wheel well were rusted and corroded adjacent to the exhaust pipe. The contact noticed that fuel was leaking. Eventually, the contact detected an abnormal odor of fuel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed the nickel installation shield on the fuel lines had several holes. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified however no further assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 129,000.

THE DOOR HANDLE IS MADE OF PLASTIC AND IT FAILS. THE PLASTIC CRACKS AND YOU CAN'T OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE. MINE BROKE. WHAT IF SOMEONE GOT CAUGHT IN A FLASH FLOOD AND YOU LOSE POWER TO YOU WINDOW. YOU DIE. I THINK THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND GM ADDRESS THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SSR. THEY REPLACE THE SSR HANDLES WITH METAL. THERE ARE 40,000 MEMBERS ON THE HHR FORUM AND A LOT MORE CARS ON ROAD. PLEASE ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. IT'S SCARY THAT ONE PULL ON YOU DOOR HANDLE AND YOU CAN'T GET OUT UNLESS YOU OPEN THE WINDOW OR CRAWL OUT THE OTHER SIDE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET HHR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE PLASTIC INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE FAILED AND THE CONTACT COULD NOT EXIT THE VEHICLE. WATER STARTED COMING IN VEHICLE FROM HOOD RELEASE LEVER ON DRIVER SIDE KICK PANEL WHILE DRIVING IN THE RAIN. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER, REPAIRED. HOWEVER DURING THE NEXT SEVERE RAIN STORM APPROXIMATELY 5 MONTH LATER IT AGAIN FAILED AND LEAKED AGAIN. DEALER STATED IT WAS REPAIRED THE SECOND TIME, HOWEVER AGAIN 4 MONTHS LATER DURING A SEVERE RAIN STORM IT AGAIN FAILED AND LEAKED. IT WAS NOT REPAIRED THE THIRD TIME, DEALER STATING THAT IT WAS NOT LEAKING, AND NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR. DEALER REFUSES TO HONOR WASHINGTON LEMON LAW. DEALER INITIATED A TRADE FOR THE VEHICLE, HOWEVER ONLY WANT TO GIVE 1/2 WHAT PAID FOR THE VEHICLE 11 MONTHS EARLIER. HAVE FOUND MULTIPLE REFERENCES THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE BUT NO RECALL DONE ON VEHICLE, ONLY STOPPED MANUFACTURING IT. *TR

MY 2010 HHR : THE DRIVERS SIDE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE SNAPPED OFF AND HAVE TO PUT DOWN THE WINDOW TO EXIT THE CAR. WHEN THIS HAPPENED THERE WAS NO EXCESSIVE PRESSURE USED TO OPEN THE DOOR. DISSATISFIED THAT IT IS COMPOSED OF A SOFT PLASTIC MATERIAL. THE COST TO REPLACE THE HANDLE REQUIRES AN NEW DOOR PANEL AND 2+ HOURS OF LABOR FOR A TOTAL OF OVER $500.00. *TR

I DRIVE A 2010 CHEVY HHR. I NOTICED NOT TO LONG AFTER I PURCHASED IT NEW THE DOOR(DRIVERS SIDE PASSENGER) WOULD NOT OPEN FROM OUTSIDE OR EVEN INSIDE WHEN I WOULD CRAWL INSIDE AND TRY TO GET IT OPEN. IT WOULD ONLY DO IT ON OCCASION. NOW IT HAS CEASED TO HAPPEN AT ALL IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS. ON MAY 25TH OF THIS YEAR THE PASSENGER SIDE DID THE SAME THING. MY MOTHER AND I WERE TRAVELING TO MY DAUGHTERS GRADUATION AND IT COMPLETELY LOCKED HER INSIDE. SHE COULD NOT GET THE DOOR OPENED AT ALL EVEN THOUGH I HIT THE UNLOCK BUTTON AND SHE TRIED MANY TIMES TO DO THE SAME THING ON HER SIDE. THE ACTUAL DOOR LOCK WAS IN THE UP POSITION SHOWING THAT THE DOOR APPEARED TO BE IN THE UNLOCK POSITION BUT WHEN SHE WENT FOR THE HANDLE IT WAS STILL LOCKED. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES ON THIS DAY. IT EVEN SET MY ALARM SYSTEM ON MY CAR OFF BECAUSE AFTER IT REFUSED TO UNLOCK IT EVENTUALLY DID AND THEN REFUSED TO LOCK BACK. I GO AROUND AFTER GETTING OUT OF THE VEHICLE MAKING SURE ALL MY DOORS WERE SECURED AND IT WAS NOT LOCKED EVEN THOUGH THE LATCH WAS IN THE DOWN POSITION AND APPEARED TO BE SECURED. IS THIS A COMPUTER PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES? I HAVE READ ABOUT PROBLEMS WITH THE OLDER MODEL HHR'S HAVING THIS PROBLEM BUT NOT ON A NEWER ONE OF THE YEAR I HAVE. WHAT I WANT TO KNOW IS CAN SOMEONE ACCESS MY COMPUTER BOARD IN MY VEHICLE AND SET THOSE LOCKS TO MESS UP? IT WAS ALMOST LIKE SOMEONE WAS MAYBE WANTING IN MY VEHICLE AND WHAT A BETTER WAY TO DO IT THAN TO MESS WITH THE LOCKING SYSTEM. I WOULD HAVE NEVER KNOWN MY VEHICLE WAS UNLOCKED HAD I NOT WENT OVER AND PHYSICALLY CHECKED IT THAT DAY BECAUSE LIKE I SAID IT APPEARED TO BE LOCKED.
