I started for the first time in early June of having reduced engine power. At this time I get several warrning lights on dashboard. I get engine power is reduced, traction control and engine light. The car goes into limp mode. I replaced the accelerator pedal position sensor after the first event. Since this time I had it happen 4 more times. This situation can be dangerous if a car is behind me and I slow up real quick due to going into limp mode. I try to pull over where I can when this happens. Once I pull over for 10 minutes the car will resume like normal driving with just the engine light on. The next day the engine light usually leaves. It is hard to know when this will occur but it can be a dangerous situation to be in.

HAD ISSUES WITH MY 2007 IMPALA 3.9L STALLING AND REDUCING POWER ON MY WIFE, AND AT TIMES ALMOST LEAVING HER IN OR ON THE ROAD. I HAVE REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY, THROTTLE PEDDLE ( TWICE ) AND HAD THE CAR FLASHED AT THE LOCAL GM DEALER. NOW THE CAR NOT ONLY READS REDUCED ENGINE POWER IT READ STARTING DISABLED SERVICE THROTTLE AND DIED WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING DOWN A BUSY HIGHWAY DURING RUSH HOUR.. CAUSING HER TO ALMOST BE INVOLVED IN A BAD WRECK. THIS SERIOUSLY NEEDS TO HAVE ATTENTION OF WHOEVER AT GM IS OVER SAFETY, CAUSE THIS ISSUE WILL END UP IN A REALLY BAD SITUATION IF OR WHEN SOMEONE ENDS UP SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED. I MEAN YOU REALLY NEED TO PROGRAM THEM TO SLOWLY REDUCE POWER, NOT JUST TELL YOU THEN SHUT OFF COMPLETELY AND HAVE THE DRIVER FIGHT AND PANIC TO GET OFF THE ROAD THROUGH TRAFFIC, WHILE NOT GETTING RUN OVER IN THE PROCESS. BUT IF THERE IS A FIX WE NEED TO KNOW.

THE STEERING WHEEL CEASED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND POWER OFF THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT WAITED FOR FIVE MINUTES AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 200,000.

I WAS DRIVING MY 2007 CHEVY IMPALA IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD AT 25 MPH, AND WHEN I WAS GETTING READY TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE BADLY WITH THE CODE "ENGINE LOSING POWER." LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND TURN THE CAR OFF. BEING 68 YEARS OLD, I GOT EXTREMELY SCARED. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND TRIED CALLING 2 OF MY CHILDREN TO HELP ME. NOT BEING ABLE TO GET EITHER ONE OF THEM. I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON, AND PROCEEDED BACK HOME WHICH WAS ONLY ABOUT A HALF MILE FROM MY HOUSE. I CALLED THE PREVIOUS OWNER, AND SHE STATED THAT HAD HAPPENED TO HER ABOUT 6 MONTHS PRIOR. NOW I AM TERRIFIED TO TAKE IT OUT ON THE MAIN HIGHWAY. I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2007 CHEVY IMPALA, 3 WEEKS AFTER PURCHASE WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR SUDDENLY SLOWED DOWN TO A CRAWL, A REDUCED ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH, BEING AS WE WERE ON THE HIGHWAY TO SUDDENLY ONLY BEING ABLE TO GO 20MPH WAS VERY FRIGHTENING!! I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO THE SIDE AND HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED HOME. AFTER SEARCHING THIS ISSUE ONLINE I FOUND THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS FROM PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE WITH THIS SAME CAR. I FIND IT STRANGE THERE WAS NOT A RECALL FOR THIS DUE TO IT BEING A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. AFTER CALLING A CHEVY DEALER, THEY TOLD ME ALL THEY COULD DO IS HOOK IT UP FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTS BUT IT WOULD COST 175.00 JUST TO DO THAT. THIS VEHICLE IS STILL PARKED AND WE ARE UNABLE TO DRIVE IT AND STILL HAVE NO IDEA WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT. ENGINE POWER WAS REDUCED WHILE I WAS TRAVELING WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC. I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE BUT CAR STARTED SLOWING DOWN. TOOK THE VEHICLE FOR REPAIR AND REPLACED THE PEDAL POSITION SENSOR WAS REPLACED. I CONTACTED CHEVY DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT AND WAS TOLD IT'S A COMMON OCCURRENCE. IMPALAS HAVE A THROTTLE SENSOR INSTEAD OF CABLE. IF THE SENSOR GOES OUT, THE ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED TO PROTECT THE ENGINE INTEGRITY. IN SOME CASES, IT'S REDUCED SIGNIFICANTLY. THE MANUFACTURE NOTED MY CONCERN BUT THE REP WOULD NOT ESCALATE THE MATTER. I WENT ONLINE TO FILE A COMPLAINT AND THERE IS A CHEVY FORUM WITH SIMILAR CONCERNS. GENERAL MOTOR REPS REPLY WITH COMMON RESPONSES TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED MECHANIC AND THEIR CONCERN HAS BEEN NOTED. I WAS INFORMED BY REPRESENTATIVE AT 800# FOR MANUFACTURE TO CALL BACK IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN. THANKFULLY I WASN'T GOING AT A HIGHER SPEED IN DALLAS TRAFFIC. NOT SURE IF I WOULD HAVE HAD THE LUXURY OF PULLING OVER.
I JUST RECENTLY HAD THE ENGINE POWER REDUCED NOTIFICATION COME UP ON MY CAR AND POWER REDUCED A GOOD AMOUNT. I GOT HOME AS SOON AS I COULD AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. IN DECEMBER MY CAR WHILE DRIVING, I EXPERIENCED REDUCED ENGINE POWER THE SPEED IMMEDIATELY DROPPED WITHOUT WARNING AND THE CAR CUT OFF. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TO ONLY BE TOLD THAT THEY ARE NOT 100% SURE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, BUT I CAN START BY REPLACING THE PCM MODULE AND THAT MAY OR MAY NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH A CHEVY DEALERSHIP NOT KNOWING WHAT IS WRONG WITH THEY CARS. ESPECIALLY A CAR THAT IS HAVING THIS PROBLEM WITH SO MANY OF ITS CAR ACROSS THE NATION. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE BEEN INCONVENIENCE SINCE DECEMBER AS I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR AFTER HAVING THIS ISSUE AND NOT FEELING CONFIDENT IN $1,000 REPAIR THAT THE DEALERSHIP THEMSELVES ARE NOT SURE IS GOING TO FIX THE ISSUE. THE VEHICLE IS AT A DEALER AWAITING DIAGNOSIS.

PREVIOUSLY I HAD THIS OCCUR AND I TOOK MY CAR TO GET SERVICED. THE MECHANIC AT THE REPAIR SHOP TESTED FOR CODES AND IT STATED THE THROTTLE BODY. I HAD THAT REPLACED ON TO TURN AROUND AND HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM TWO DAYS LATER. I RECENTLY SEARCHED THIS ISSUE ONLINE AND NOTICED I'M NOT THE ONLY PERSON WITH THIS ISSUE. I CALLED GM AND THE REPRESENTATIVE INFORMED ME THAT UNFORTUNATELY THERE WASN'T A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE AND I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR. I TRAVEL A LOT ON THE FREEWAY AND I WOULD HATE FOR THE CAR TO STOP WHILE DRIVING WITH MYSELF AND CHILDREN INSIDE. THIS VEHICLE COMPLAINT REALLY NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED.

NOW IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN THIS MORNING, AND THE MECHANIC DOESN'T KNOW WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT BECAUSE IT HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY SO HE CAN'T DIAGNOSE IT UNLESS IT DOES IT WHILE THE CAR IS IN HIS POSSESSION.

I ONCE TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS AT 45 MPH AND COASTED ON FLAT ROAD FOR 2.5 MILES. THE LATEST RELATED PROBLEM IS.. SPRING 2013, TWICE, I TURNED A CORNER AND IT JUST DIED. I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC. AFTER A FEW MINUTES, IT CRANKED BACK UP. THANKFULLY, I WAS ON A CITY STREET AND NOT A FOUR LANE ROAD. I ALSO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH PARKING. I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKES AND PULL INTO PARKING SPOT. WHEN I PUT IT IN PARK, IT LUNGES FORWARD. OR IF I STOP IN TRAFFIC, SOMETIMES IT LUNGES AFTER IT STOPS. I HAVE TO MAKE SURE THAT I LEAVE PLENTY OF ROOM IN FRONT FOR THIS PROBLEM. I THINK IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE COMPUTER ALLOWING THE GAS TO FLOW OR STOP. THE FIRST INSTANCE I WAS DRIVING AND THE "SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM" FLASHED ON THE DISPLAY. I HAD ALL BRAKE PADS REPLACED AT DEALER ON 1/3/2013. 2/7/2013 I WAS IN TRAFFIC AND THE CAR SUDDENLY SLOWS TO ABOUT 10 MPH AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE THE DASH THEN DISPLAYED "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. ON 2/14/2013, I HAD THE THROTTLE POSITIONING SENSOR REPLACED AND AT THE SAME TIME HAD THE REAR DEFROST WIRING REPAIRED BECAUSE THAT HAD NOT BEEN WORKING FOR OVER A YEAR. ON 3/4/2013 THE CAR WOULD NOT START BY THE FACTORY REMOTE START, SO WENT OUT AND STARTED THE CAR WITH THE KEY, WHEN I RETURNED TO THE CAR THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AT ALL THE CHIME WOULD SOUND THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH FLASHED BUT NO START. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES THEN TRIED AGAIN, THE CAR STARTED BRIEFLY (50 SECONDS) "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" APPEARED ON THE DASH THEN IT SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. I LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD SAW THE BATTERY ATTACHMENT WAS LOOSE, TIGHTENED THAT UP AND THEN THE CAR STARTED UP. HOWEVER, THE CAR RADIO (FACTORY RADIO NEVER REPLACED), THE CHIME, OR THE TICKING OF THE TURNING SIGNALS NO LONGER WORK. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH DEALER ON 3/14/13, BUT THE CAR SEEMS TO BE FAILING ALL AROUND. IN READING CHEVY/GM FORUMS, THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF CHEVY OWNERS EXPERIENCING THESE SAME ISSUES, CHEVY/GM NEEDS TO TAKE OWNERSHIP AND INVESTIGATE THESE VEHICLES TO DETERMINE THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE PROBLEMS. NEARLY 3000 DOLLARS LATER IN DEALER REPAIRS IS NOT GETTING TO THE BOTTOM OF THE ISSUE. I WAS NEARLY IN A CRASH DUE TO THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER ISSUE AND THAT WAS SCARY ENOUGH TO MAKE ME NOT WANT TO DRIVE THIS CAR OR AN AT ALL. *TR

RETURNING HOME FROM WORK ON INTERSTATE NOTICED IT TOOK HIGHER RPMS TO GET UP TO THE 65MPH SPEED LIMIT. AFTER DRIVING FOR A FEW MINUTES I STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. THE VEHICLE COULD THEN ONLY GET UP TO 40MPH AND LOST POWER DOWN TO 10MPH WHEN I PULLED OVER AND CALLED IT A DAY. CURRENTLY AT THE SHOP WITH 10 DIFFERENT CODES SHOWING. SINCE I HAVE HAD MY IMPALA I HAVE HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH THE CA. THE FIRST PROBLEM THAT I NOTICED WAS THAT MY WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID STOP COMING OUT AFTER ON HAVING THE CAR A FEW MONTHS, I LATER FOUND OUT THAT THE MOTOR HAD GONE OUT. ANOTHER PROBLEM THAT IM HAVING IS THAT THE CHECK TIRE SERVICE LIGHT CONTINUES TO COME ON EVEN AFTER, TIRES HAVE BEEN FILLED AND REPLACED, I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT ON OCCASIONS MANY OF THE OTHER SERVICE LIGHTS COME ON LIKE CHECK AIRBAGS, AND BRAKES EVEN AFTER CAR HAS BEEN SERVICED. MY BIGGEST ISSUE IS THAT MY TRANSMISSION FLUID HAS BEGUN TO LEAK OUT MY CAR AND NO ONE NOT EVEN THE DEALERSHIP CAN FIGURE OUT WHERE OR WHY ITS LEAKING. THIS CAUSES THE CAR TO HESITATE AND JERK UPON ACCELERATION. READING A LOT OF THE FORUMS OUT I'M NOT THE ONLY PERSON HAVING THESE PROBLEMS AND I THINK THAT AN INVESTIGATION SHOULD BE DONE ON THE IMPALA. *TR

I TOOK MY CAR IN TO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT SERVICED, I WAS TOLD AFTER THEY DIAGNOSED IT THAT I NEEDED A NEW THROTTLE BODY SO I HAD IT REPLACED FOR THE COST OF $647.00 1 WEEK LATER I WAS DRIVING HOME AND MY CAR LOSS POWER AND SHUTDOWN COMPLETELY LUCKILY I WASN'T IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I TRIED TO RESTART IT AND WHITE SMOKE CAME FROM THE TAILPIPE SO I HAD IT TOWED BACK TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP THEY TOLD ME AFTER LOOKING @ IT THAT NOW I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE WHICH WOULD COST ME $6200 I DIDN'T GET ANY LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD OR ANY OTHER INDICATION THAT I WAS HAVING ENGINE TROUBLE AND THEY CANT TELL ME WHY IT HAPPENED. I HAVE MY CAR SERVICED LIKE CLOCKWORK @ THE DEALERSHIP SPENDING GOOD MONEY FOR SUPPOSEDLY GOOD QUALITY SERVICE INSTEAD OF SOME RINKY DINK GARAGE BUT I GUESS THAT DIDN'T MATTER.
