I PUT THE ROLLING CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND STARTED IT. IT FIRED UP IMMEDIATELY. I PUT IN GEAR AND CONTINUED UNTIL IT WAS SAFE TO STOP. LET ENGINE COOL OFF AND DROVE HOME. THE SPEEDOMETER CONTINUED TO FLUCTUATE, IT ALSO CUT OFF AND FLASHED THE MESSAGE AGAIN. CALLED DEALERSHIP NEXT MORNING AND TOOK IN. THEY CAME BACK WITH DIAGNOSIS OF TRANSMISSION FAILURE, NEED TO REPLACE. I SHELLED OUT $4000 FOR THE TRANSMISSION, NOW IT IS SLIPPING. I DROVE HOME TODAY AND THAT MESSAGE FLASHED ACROSS MY SCREEN ALONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION STRUGGLING TO FIND THE PROPER GEAR. THE SPEEDOMETER WAS MOVING UP AND DOWN. SO I HAD ALL THREE CHECKED ALL TESTS FINE SO I PURCHASED ANOTHER BATTERY AND WAS GOOD FOR ABOUT A WEEK THEN ALL THE SUDDEN THE RADIO DIED AND ALL THE AUDITABLE SOUNDS STOP WORKING THE NEXT DAY WENT OUT TO TRY TO START THE CAR AND NOTHING HAPPENED ONLY HAD HEADLIGHTS AND INTERIOR LIGHTS WOULDN'T START. SO I PUT IT ON A CHARGER FOR A COUPLE HOURS TRIED IT AGAIN AND IT WAS COMPLETELY DEAD LIKE THERE WAS NO BATTERY IN . COME TO FIND OUT THAT THE BCM ( BODY CONTROL MODULE ) WAS SHORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY RE WIRING THE GROUND WIRE TO THE SHIFTER WHERE THE PIN HAD BROKEN. ON MAY 3RD THE KEY GOT STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND WOULD NOT COME OUT. LET THE CAR SIT FOR 24 HOURS THE BATTERY DIED AND THE KEY RELEASED OUT OF THE IGNITION. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP ON MAY 5, 2014 AND THE SHIFTER WIRES WERE RE CONSTRUCTED. STARTED HAVING TROUBLE WITH MY TRANSMISSION A WHILE BACK. IF I WAS AT A STOP AND TRIED TO ACCELERATE IT WAS SLOWLY TAKE OF THEN ALL OF SUDDEN SLAM INTO THE RIGHT GEAR THEN TAKE OFF. FIRST, WHEN I SLOW DOWN TO TURN A CORNER, I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS. AFTER THE TURN, WHEN I PRESS THE GAS I HAVE NO POWER. I HAVE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP FOR ABOUT 20-30 SECONDS, THEN TAKE OFF. SOMETIMES IT GOES, BUT FEELS LIKE IT JERKS INTO GEAR. REPORTED THAT CAR WOULD JERK (KICK INTO GEAR LATE) WHEN ACCELERATING FROM STOP TO START. AT 74,000 WE MADE OUR FIRST CLAIM WITH LOCAL DEALER. THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE CONCERN. BROUGHT CAR IN TWO MORE TIME BECAUSE IT GOT WORSE. FELT LIKE SOMEONE WAS HITTING ME FROM THE BACK. MY CAR OFTEN KICKS OUT OF GEAR ON A LEFT TURN. ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS, I WAS ALMOST T-BONED. THEY NEVER FOUND THE ISSUE UNTIL 121,000. THAT WAS WHEN THEY DECLARED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. GM DOESN'T WANT TO COVER THE REPAIR NOW THAT THE VEHICLE IS OUT OFWARRANTY. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND FOUND WAY TOO MANY TRANSMISSION ISSUES WITH THESE MODEL VEHICLES. GM REALLY SHOULD INVESTIGATE THIS CONCERN. I ADVISE ANYONE TO PESTER GM ABOUT THIS CONCERN. AS I APPROACHED THE GARAGE ATTENDANT BOOTH TO PAY PARKING FEE, I LET OFF THE ACCELERATOR LETTING THE CAR COAST TO A STOP WHILE I RETRIEVED THE PARKING TIME/DATE RECEIPT. WHEN I LOCATED THE RECEIPT (ABOUT 5 SECONDS) FROM THE CENTER CONSOLE I LOOKED UP TO FIND THE CAR WAS ROLLING BACKWARDS DOWN THE RAMP TOWARD A CONCRETE WALL (BY THIS TIME) APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH. NOTE: I AM A 50 YEAR OLD, (MALE) RETIRED POLICE OFFICE AND WAS TRAINED IN RADAR SPEED ENFORCEMENT INCLUDING CERTIFIED IN SPEED ESTIMATION AND I AM ALSO "EVOC" (EMERGENCY VEHICLE OPERATOR COURSE) TRAINED. I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR BEFORE HITTING THE WALL, ANOTHER VEHICLE, OR ANY PEDESTRIANS. I FEEL A TRAGEDY COULD HAVE OCCURRED HAD SOMEONE BEEN WALKING IN THE GARAGE. THE CAR SEEMS TO HAVE NO ABILITY TO "HILL HOLD" WHEN IN "DRIVE" AT IDLE. I WAS SHOCKED AT HOW FAST THE AUTO ACCELERATED BACKWARD. I HAVE PERSONALLY DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY 750,000+ MILES WITHOUT AN AT FAULT COLLISION. (FRONT AND BACK). TOOK CAR TO DEALER (BURIEN CHEVROLET IN BURIEN, WA). WAS TOLD THAT THE NEEDED REPAIRS WERE NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. WE DECLINED REPAIRS AS WE COULD NOT AFFORD OUT OF POCKET COST. CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS. WAS TOLD THAT AT THE TIME THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, THAT RELEVANT COMPONENTS WERE INDEED COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. GM WAS UNSURE OF WHY DEALER HAD TOLD US THEY WERE NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. BUT THAT THE WARRANTY WAS PRESENTLY EXPIRED, AND EVEN THOUGH IT WASN'T WHEN WE TOOK CAR TO DEALER, THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO NOW THAT THE WARRANTY IS EXPIRED. ALSO, THE TECH AT BURIEN CHEVROLET SAID THAT HE COULD SEE NO SIGNS OF THE SYMPTOMS THAT WE DESCRIBED WERE WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION, EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS A SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUED BY GM ON 10/15/09 (06-07-30-023C) WHICH DESCRIBES THE SYMPTOMS EXACTLY AS WE TOLD THE DEALER. IT ALSO CONTAINS INFORMATION NEEDE TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. NOW THE TRANSMISSION IS ON THE VERGE OF BREAKING DOWN AND THE ENGINE IS LEAKING OIL MORE THAN EVER.

HAVE 2007 IMPALA LT3. (PURCHASED FROM SUNSET CHEVROLET, SUMNER, WA) 1/13/2010. HAVING SERIOUS TRANSMISSION ISSUES. TOOK VEHICLE TO FIRESTONE (6/10/10) FOR ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND INSPECTION. FOUND LEAK IN TRANSMISSION. ALSO NEEDED FUEL SYSTEM SERVICE. REPAIRS NOT DONE AT THIS TIME DUE TO FINANCIAL SHORTAGE. TOOK TO FIRESTONE AGAIN FOR ROUTINE OIL CHANGE 8/26/10. WAS EVENTUALLY TOLD THAT EVEN THOUGH BURIEN CHEVROLET TOLD US THE PARTS WERE NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY, THAT IN FACT THE PARTS WERE COVERED BY WARRANTY AT THE TIME WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. WE BOUGHT OUR 2007 CHEVROLET IMPALA 3LT NEW IN FEBRUARY 2007. THE CAR JUST TURNED OVER 50,000 MILES. AT 38,000, WE NOTICED THE PASSENGER SEAT HEATING ELEMENT QUIT WORKING. CHEVY DEALER ESTIMATES THE COST OF REPAIRS AT ABOUT $200. AT 48,000 THE SHIFTER RELEASE SWITCH STOPPED WORKING, SO THE SHIFTER COULD NOT BE MOVED FROM THE PARK POSITION. CHEVY DEALER SAID A WIRE BROKE IN THE CENTER CONSOLE AND REPAIRS WERE $137. FROM ABOUT 45,000 MILES TO PRESENT, THE TRANSMISSION OCCASIONALLY SLIPS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP AT AN INTERSECTION. THE ENGINE REVS FOR ABOUT A SECOND OR TWO BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGES. THE CHEVY DEALER HAS HAD THE CAR IN TWICE FOR THIS PROBLEM, THE SECOND TIME FOR MORE THAN A WEEK, AND WE'RE TOLD IT DOESN'T HAPPEN IN THE SHOP. I PURCHISED THIS CAR IN APRIL OF '08 AND IT HAS BEEN FAILING SINCE I BOUGHT IT. THERE IS A VIBRATION WHILE RIDING IN THE CAR THAT MAKES YOUR BODY BOUNCE. THE DEALER STATES THEY DON'T FEEL IT, BUT I HAVE CRONIC BACK PAIN FROM IT. I HAVE HAD IT AT THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND NO FIX. I TOOK IT TO AN ALINEMENT SHOP THEY TOLD ME THAT THE STUTS WERE SET OUT FROM THE FACTORY SO THE TIRES DON'T HIT THE GROND FLAT LIKE THEY SHOULD. THE PROBLEM CAUSES MY TIRES TO SLIP OUT OF BALANCE CONSTANTLY MAKING THE VIBRATION WORSE. MY WINDSHIELD AND DASH BOTH MAKE CRAKING NOISES NOW FROM ALL THE VIBRATION IN THE CAR. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN MARCH 2007 AND IS USED AS A COMMUTER CAR FROM NEW OXFORD, PA TO WASHINGTON, DC DAILY. I AVERAGE 750 MILES PER WEEK. LAST FALL WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD JUST OVER 90,000 MILES, I BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS FIRST WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL DROPPING OFF SPEED AND NOT RESETTING. THIS QUICKLY ADVANCED TO A SHUTTERING FEEL WHEN ACCELERATING AND OCCASIONALLY PICKING UP SPEED AND WITHIN 50 MILES THE CAR REFUSED TO MOVE AFTER A STOP LIGHT. I TURNED IT OFF AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND AFTER PUTTING IT INTO DRIVE, MANAGED TO GET IT TO A NEARBY FORMER CHEVY DEALER. THEY DETERMINED THE TRANSMISSION WAS TOTALLY SLIPPING AND REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. CHEVY STOOD BY THE 100K POWER-TRAIN WARRANTY WITH A NO-COST REPLACEMENT AND INSTALLED A NEW TRANSMISSION, ISSUING A 12,000 MI WARRANTY. TODAY, AT 111,000 MILES, LESS THAN 20,000 INTO THE NEW TRANSMISSION, THE PROBLEM RETURNED. THE FIRST TIME IT WAS ON FLAT GROUND AND I WAS SIMPLY A STALLED NUISANCE IN TRAFFIC. THIS TIME, I WAS GOING UP A HILL AND HAD STOPPED FOR A LIGHT. THE CAR BEGAN TO ROLL BACK DOWN THE HILL, I HAD DIFFICULTY BRAKING AND NEARLY GOT STRUCK BY A LARGE TRUCK. IT WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD UNTIL I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND THEN WITH A THUDS AND JERKS I WAS ABLE TO MOVE IT TO A SAFE PARKING SPOT. THIS TIME I DID NOT HAVE THE DIFFICULTY WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL BUT DID HAVE A BIT OF WHAT I NOW RECOGNIZE WAS TRANSMISSION SLIP BUT I ATTRIBUTED TO THE ANTI-SLIP BRAKES ON ICE. ON DECEMBER 24, 2009, AFTER PARKING MY 30 MONTH OLD 2007 CHEVROLET IMPALA LTZ ON LEVEL GROUND AT 6:30AM IN THE MORNING AND MINUS 13 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT, I ATTENDED MY MORNING WORKOUT FOR 1 HOUR. ON RETURN AND AFTER SUCCESSFULLY STARTING THE CAR I FOUND THE STICK SHIFT ACCESS BUTTON COULD NOT BE PUSHED, DESPITE FOLLOWING THE RECOMMENDED PROCEDURES, AND THE CAR WAS STUCK IN PARK. IT WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL GM DEALER FOR $100. AFTER SIX DAYS AND $150 IN EXPENSES FOR ANOTHER CAR THE GM DEALER REPORTED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS A "BROKEN GROUND WIRE" IN THE "SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID CONNECTOR" [INSIDE THE CENTRE CONSOLE WHERE THE SHIFT LEVER IS LOCATED]. THE COST OF REPAIR WAS $137. MY INTERNET RESEARCH SHOWS THIS PROBLEM OCCURS OFTEN IN CHEVROLET IMPALAS, WHICH SUGGESTS THAT THE PROBLEM IS IN THE DESIGN AND MANUFACTURE OF THE VEHICLE. THIS PROBLEM COULD BE LIFE THREATENING IF THE PROBLEM OCCURS IN A REMOTE AREA AT THIS TEMPERATURE. I THOUGHT THIS WAS A POWER TRAIN PROBLEM SINCE THE PART ALLOWS THE TRANSMISSION TO ENGAGE, AND THEREFORE SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. GM CLAIMS IT IS NOT PART OF THE POWER TRAIN. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED IT, AND THEY TOLD ME I HAD WATER IN THE FUEL. AS I WAS LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP, THE TRANSMISSION STOPPED SHIFTING, AND THE CAR WENT INTO "LIMP" MODE. I LEFT THE CAR TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE REPLACED. I RECEIVED THE CAR BACK 5 DAYS LATER AND THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, AND THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL WHERE DISABLED. I TOOK THE CAR TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP IN THE HOPES THAT THEY COULD FIND THE TROUBLE. AFTER 14 DAYS IN SERVICE, THEY DETERMINED THAT RUST HAS CLOGGED THE FUEL SYSTEM OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 9,800 MILES ON IT. THE CAR IS NOW "UNDRIVEABLE". THEY HAVE YET TO ADDRESS THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE SAFETY ISSUE THAT WAS THE CATALYST FOR THE SERVICE VISIT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF, IN PARK, WITH THE PARKING BRAKE ON, IN THE DRIVEWAY AT AN INCLINE. THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS DOWN THE DRIVEWAY, AND HIT THE FENCE WHICH BROUGHT IT TO A STOP. THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND DRIVER SIDE REAR OF VEHICLE. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO DEALER, AND THE EVENT EXPLAINED. THE DEALER MADE REPAIR TO DOOR AT MY COST. THE DEALER MADE NO ATTEMPT TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE. I CALLED AGAIN TO SERVICE AND SPOKE TO SOMEONE, WHO STATED THAT THE PARKING BRAKE IS NOT SUPPOSED TO PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM ROLLING BACKWARDS. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE BEGAN ROLLING BACKWARDS AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH. THE GEAR WAS PLACED IN PARK AT THE TIME. HER ARM WAS TANGLED IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND SHE WAS KNOCKED TO THE GROUND AND DRAGGED DOWN THE DRIVEWAY. THE VEHICLE FINALLY CAME TO A STOP IN THE STREET. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BRUISES AND SCRAPES ON HER RIGHT FOOT AS WELL AS HER LEFT KNEE DOWN TO HER ANKLE. HER HIPS AND BACK ARE STILL HURTING FROM BEING KNOCKED DOWN. SHE SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER TO HAVE THE VEHICLE INSPECTED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 9,942.
