The key gets stuck and I can't remove the key; I can't take the key out and then the battery drains and car is dead.
The engine electric brakes all shut down steering wheel locked up and my daughter smashed into telephone pole on August 31 2023. Airbags didn't deploy for front and side airbags were deflated no air.no warning lights prior that I'm aware of. My daughter was injured PCS and cervical sprain
While driving at highway speeds the car will act up and the engine will shut off, I get the message on the odometer display that reads, Engine power is reduced, service throttle, starter disabled. This is not a good thing to have happen while driving.
Heating and air conditioning actuators and/or blen door getting stuck so the air will not switch from cold to hot or hot to cold without pulling the glove box out and manually turning them by hand. Heater will blow hot air and then randomly switch to cold air. When it's cold outside, I cannot defrost my windows cause it gets stuck on cold air which impairs visibility.
WHILE WIFE WAS DRIVING AT NORMAL SPEED CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE MANY TIMES OVER LAST FEW MONTHS CAUSING ACCELERATOR PEDAL SENSOR CODES.WE HAVE SINCE CHANGED THIS PEDAL SENSOR 6 TIMES AND SAME ISSUE AND CODES POP UP. WE ALSO CHANGED THROTTLE BODY W SENSOR AND CONNECTOR PIGTAIL.I THINK THERE IS CORROSION IN ECM AND ALL THESE ITEMS HAVE FAILED. THESE ITEMS SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED AS MANUFACTURER DEFECTS IN MY OPINION.WE ARE STILL HAVING PROBLEMS SAME CODES AND IM NOT THE ONLY ONE!

WHEN FIRST PURCHASED I HAD TO CHANGE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP I WAS TOLD THEY GET A LOT OF PEOPLE W IMPALAS SAME AS MY YEAR 2008 THAT NEEDED TO HAVE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL CHANGED EVERY SO OFTEN BECAUSE THEY WOULD GO OUT AND IT WOULD CAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO GO ON AND OFF BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS SENDING THE WRONG SIGNALS.I WOULD DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY AND STREET IT WOULD CAUSE REDUCED ENGINE TO COME ON AND SLOW MY CAR DOWN ALMOST LEADING INTO ACCIDENTS BECAUSE I DID NOT KNOW IT WAS ABOUT TO HAPPEN. IT WOULD COME AND GO ON AS IT WANTED. THE ELECTRICAL PART OF THE CAR IS SOMETHING IN THE CAR CONTINUES TO DRAIN MY BATTERY. I'VE GOTTEN A NEW BATTERY AND IT STILL DRAINS CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO GET IT RECHARGED. THE SUSPENSION I WAS ALSO TOLD FOR THE YEAR OF MY CAR IS BAD. WHEN PURCHASED I FOUND OUT THAT AGAIN PEOPLE THAT PURCHASED THESE YEARS OF VEHICLES HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE CONTROL ARMS AND THAT I NOW HAVE TO TAKE IT TO GET FIXED BECAUSE ONE HIT TO A POT HOLE CAN CAUSE THE UNDER PART OF THE CAR TO BREAK AND CAUSE A BAD ACCIDENT. I DID NOT KNOW IMPALAS HAD THIS MANY PROBLEMS. I SEEN THE POLICE IMPALAS FOR 2008 WERE RECALLED FOR SUSPENSION, BUT THEY ALL SEEM TO SHARE THIS COMMON PROBLEM AS WELL AS THE ACTUATOR CONTINUOUSLY CLICKING. IT SEEMS TO BE AN EASY FIX, BUT I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO FIX SOMETHING THAT IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THE IMPALAS.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND RECOMMENDED THAT ALL THE SEAT BELTS BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000.

THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE ECM, THROTTLE BODY, ACCELERATOR PEDAL MECHANISM, AND THE WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN THE ECM AND THROTTLE BODY; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE ONLY KEYHOLE ON THE CAR IS ON THE DRIVERS DOOR TO UNLOCK THE CAR. THERE ARE NUMEROUS REPORTS OF THIS ISSUE ON THE INTERNET FOR THE YEAR MODELS 2008 AND 2009. THE PARTS ALONE ARE $450 TO $1,000. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE A RECALL BECAUSE: 1. THE DOORS NO LONGER AUTOMATICALLY LOCK WHEN THE CAR IS PLACED IN GEAR. AUTOMATIC LOCKS WERE MOST LIKELY LISTED ON THE WINDOW STICKER. 2. IF A CHILD IS LOCKED IN THE CAR, THE DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK WITH REMOTE AND CAN ONLY BE ACCESSED FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. 3. NOT BEING ABLE TO ACCESS THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOOR WITH THE KEY IS A SAFETY ISSUE TO ME. MY CAR ONLY HAS 45,100 MILES ON IT AND THE LOCKS HAVE NOT WORKED IN OVER TWO YEARS. THE REMOTE KEY SYSTEM IS NOT EFFECTIVE WHEN LOCKING OR UNLOCKING THE VEHICLE. I ASKED REED LALLIER DEALERSHIP IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE LOCKS BUT IT ONLY APPLIES TO THE "SS" MODEL AND NOT THE LT, EVEN THOUGH THE ISSUES ARE THE SAME. THE ISSUE STARTED LAST SUMMER AND HAS GOTTEN WORSE THIS YEAR, WHEN THE TEMPERATURE IS AROUND 75 AND BELOW THE LOCKS FUNCTION FINE. THE MALFUNCTION ONLY HAPPENS WHEN IT IS HOT OUTSIDE.

I'VE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR. DO NOT BUY ANY IMPALA, UNLESS YOU HAVE A LIFETIME OF FIXABLE RECALLS. IT'S HOT IN ARKANSAS AND TO STALL FOR 15 MINUTES WITH CHILDREN IN THE CAR IS UNACCEPTABLE. WHEN YOU CALL CHEVY CUSTOMER SERVICE, THEY CAN NOT HELP YOU WITH ANYTHING. THEY JUST TAKE YOUR VIN NUMBER AND STATE OH I DON'T SEE A RECALL FOR YOUR VEHICLE, ALTHOUGH YOU READ 5598 PROBLEMS/SAME ISSUE YOU ARE HAVING WITH YOUR CAR. ERRATIC TRANSMISSION IS THE WHOLE PROBLEM. IF THE CAR GOES OVER A SPEED BUMP THE ENGINE REDUCES POWER AND SERVICE STABILITRAK APPEARS ACROSS THE LIGHTING AS WELL AS THE CAR DROPPING OUT OF GEAR IF I GO OVER ANY BUMP. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY BEING THAT MY CHILDREN AND I WERE IN THIS CAR AND IT DECIDED TO DO THIS ON THE INTERSTATE AT NIGHT IN 70 MPH TRAFFIC. IT MAKES A LOUD KNOCKING SOUND UNDER THE DASH WHETHER THE CAR IS RUNNING OR NOT. IT ALSO HAPPENS WHEN I'M DRIVING. I HAVE CALLED CHEVY SO MANY TIMES, I REMEMBERED THE SCRIPT THEY READ TO YOU. THEY NEVER HELPED. IT IS A $200 REPAIR BILL EVERY TIME IT IS REPAIRED. I TRIED TO LET IT BURN ITSELF OUT AND IT LASTED OVER A YEAR. I WAS TOLD BY A MECHANIC THAT IT IS A PROBLEM ON 2004-2008 IMPALAS BUT THEY NEVER RECALLED IT. IT ALSO CAUSES THE AIR TO BLOW COLD IN THE WINTER. WHY WASN'T A RECALL DONE ON THESE VEHICLES.

THESE ARE $25 PARTS, HOWEVER THE LABOR COSTS ARE RIDICULOUS; $300-400 PER VENT ACTUATOR. IF THESE VENT ACTUATORS FAIL AT RANDOM TIMES, THAT IS AT A COST OF UP TO $425 FOR EACH VISIT TO THE DEALER, AND THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT THEY WON'T FAIL ONCE AGAIN. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, I WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST ONCE WEEKLY, TO ONCE DAILY. THE KEY WOULD NOT SWITCH COMPLETELY OFF LEAVING THE BATTERY SOURCE TO DRAIN AND HAVING TO GET BOOST OR REPLACE BATTERIES MORE OFTEN, WHEN THE RECALL WAS ISSUED, I WAS SOMEWHAT RELIEVED, THINKING THAT THIS WOULD RESOLVE THE ISSUE. FAST FORWARD TO OCTOBER 2014, I THE KEY WAS STUCK IN THE IGNITION AGAIN ON THE PARTICULAR DAY I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR THERE SERVICE. THE SERVICE PERSON WITNESSED THE KEY STUCK IN THE IGNITION. I HAD TO LEAVE THE CAR THERE AND WITH SOME MANIPULATION, HE WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY AND COMPLETE THE SERVICE CALL. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT MANAGER WAS ADAMANT THAT THIS WAS NOT A RECALL ISSUE AND THAT PLACING A HOLE IN THE PLASTIC HUB OF THE KEY WAS TO RELIEVED THE WEIGHT TO PREVENT THE KEY FROM SWITCHING OFF WHILE DRIVE THE VEHICLE. I HAVE RESEARCH THE DATA AND THERE ARE SEVERAL YOU TUBE VIDEOS ON THIS SAME PROBLEM...IT IS A FAULTY WIRE (PURPLE) THAT SHIFTS WITH THE GEAR AND CAUSE THE WIRE TO BE WORN AND MAKE THE KEYS UNABLE TO BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION. THE KEY IS STUCK IN THE IGNITION, THIS WAS AT 10:15PM 9/25/14. THE CAR WAS ABLE TO BE TURNED OFF, I TURNED OFF THE RADIO, LIGHTS, AIR AND ANYTHING ELSE I THOUGHT WOULD KILL THE BATTERY. WHEN I ASKED WHAT COULD BE THE CAUSE, COULD IT POSSIBLY BE THE RECALL 14299, HE SAID NO. I TOLD HIM THAT I HAVE DONE MY RESEARCH AND THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THESE CARS AND HE SAID UNFORTUNATELY THEIR IS NO RECALL FOR THAT MA'AM AND THAT I WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS. IN AUGUST 2014 I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GM STATING THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE RECALL# 14299, THE LETTER STATED THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH WHERE IF I HAPPEN TO GO OVER A SPEED BUMP, HIT A POTHOLE OR OFF ROAD MY KEY "MAY UNINTENTIONALLY MOVE THE KEY AWAY FROM THE RUN POSITION". THE LETTER ALSO STATES THAT IF THIS WERE TO OCCUR IT WOULD AFFECT MY POWER STEERING, BREAKING AND AIR BAGS DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE SWITCH IS NOT IN THE RUN POSITION RESULTING IN HIGH RISK OF CRASH INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY OR FATALITY. I WAS SHOCKED WHEN I RECEIVED THIS INFORMATION, I FOLLOWED THE DIRECTIONS OF THE LETTER AND REMOVED ANYTHING THAT ADDED EXTRA WEIGHT TO MY KEY AND CALLED GM IMMEDIATELY. OUR LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP WANTED $50 MORE. SINCE IT IS A VERY EASY PART TO REPLACE EVEN FOR AN AMATEUR LIKE ME, I REPLACED IT. THERE ARE ONLY 2 10 MM BOLTS TO REMOVE AND AN ELECTRICAL CONNECTION TO UNPLUG. SO IT WAS PRETTY SIMPLE, AND SO FAR, THIS HAS DONE THE TRICK, BUT IT'S ONLY BEEN 24 HOURS. THE INTERNET HAS REPORTS FROM SEVERAL PEOPLE REPORTING THIS SAME EVENT ON IMPALAS, OF SEVERAL DIFFERENT MODEL YEARS. MOST OF THESE THOUGH, IT HAPPENED WHILE THEY WERE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, AND SOME REPORTED ACCIDENTS THAT RESULTED. I PURCHASED MY '08 IMPALA LT USED, VEHICLE WAS IN PERFECT CONDITION, OLDER OWNER AND WAS A SEASONAL VEHICLE AS WE LIVE IN SOUTH FLORIDA THIS OWNER WAS A SNOW BIRD AND ONLY USED THE VEHICLE 4 MONTHS OUT OF THE YEAR. I HAD THE CAR ABOUT 7 MONTHS AND THEN I NOTICED A PROBLEM WITH THE LOCKS, THEY WOULD SOMETIMES NOT LOCK/OR UNLOCK WHILE USING THE FOB, THE INTERIOR LOCK STILL WORKED FOR A FEW MORE MONTHS AND THEN EVERYTHING EVENTUALLY CEASED. NOW NOTHING WORKS, UNLESS YOU MANUALLY LOCK/UNLOCK IT YOURSELF. PROBLEM IS.....I HAVE CHILDREN, SMALL CHILDREN AND WHEN DOING 8 OTHER THINGS WHILE GETTING OUT OF THE CAR, OR PARKING THE CAR AND GETTING OUT IT IS SUCH A PAIN IN THE A** THAT I HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS WITH A SOMEWHAT NEWER VEHICLE!!! I TRIED REPLACING THE FUSE, THAT DIDN'T WORK. I CAN HEAR THE LOCKS CLICK, BUT NOTHING HAPPENS. POWER DOOR LOCKS STOPPED WORKING. I CAN OPEN THE DRIVERS DOOR WITH THE KEY, BUT THE OTHER POWER LOCKS DO NOT OPEN. IT STARTED WITH THE REAR LOCKS AND NOW INCLUDES ALL LOCKS. THIS IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE WE CARRY OUR SMALL GRANDCHILDREN IN THEIR CAR SEATS IN THE BACK. THE ONLY WAY TO UNLOCK THE DOORS IS TO ROLL DOWN THE POWER WINDOW AND REACH IN TO UNLOCK.
