TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH AND DRIVING OVER A POTHOLE, THE VEHICLE LOSS MOTIVE POWER, STALLED, AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 78,000.

WHILE WIFE WAS DRIVING AT NORMAL SPEED CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE MANY TIMES OVER LAST FEW MONTHS CAUSING ACCELERATOR PEDAL SENSOR CODES.WE HAVE SINCE CHANGED THIS PEDAL SENSOR 6 TIMES AND SAME ISSUE AND CODES POP UP. WE ALSO CHANGED THROTTLE BODY W SENSOR AND CONNECTOR PIGTAIL.I THINK THERE IS CORROSION IN ECM AND ALL THESE ITEMS HAVE FAILED. THESE ITEMS SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED AS MANUFACTURER DEFECTS IN MY OPINION.WE ARE STILL HAVING PROBLEMS SAME CODES AND IM NOT THE ONLY ONE!

THIS COOLANT CROSSOVER PIPE GASKET LEAK HAS BEEN A REPEATED AND MULTIPLE VEHICLE PROBLEM WITH THE 3.9L AND 3.5L AND GM ONLY CAME UP WITH 2 TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS; THE LAST ONE WAS #07-06-02-006E: COOLANT LEAKING FROM ENGINE (REPLACE COOLANT CROSSOVER PIPE GASKETS) - (MAR 5, 2012). HOWEVER, THE NEW GASKET DESIGN PRESUMABLY REPAIRED THE LEAK. HOWEVER, IT DID NOT. I HAVE SEEN THIS ISSUE DISCUSSED ON SEVERAL WEB SITES WITH ALL COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME UNRESOLVED ISSUE. MY 2008 IMPALA WITH THE 3.9L V-6 HAS BEEN REPAIRED FOR THIS ISSUE ON THE FOLLOWING DATES, EACH TIME I WAS ASSURED IT WAS SATISFACTORILY REPAIRED: 02/09/2019 ' DIY DUE TO DEALERSHIP COST. REPAIRED PER GM TSB/GM TECHNICAL SERVICE MANUAL. 11/30/2016 ' DEALERSHIP. 03/10/2014 ' DEALERSHIP. 01/11/2013 ' DEALERSHIP. AND NOW, IT'S LEAKING AGAIN! I CHATTED WITH CHEVROLET ONLINE ON 10 APR 2020 AND CECIL SAID THAT WARRANTY HAD REPAIRED IT ONCE, BUT THE ISSUE HAS BEEN AND STILL CONTINUES. GM WOULD NO LONGER REPAIR THE LEAK. THIS IS WHAT I WAS TOLD: CECIL AT 15:40, APR 10, 2020: UNFORTUNATELY, ONCE THE DECISION IS FINAL THAT IT CANNOT BE CHANGED ANYMORE. BUT HERE IS WHAT WE SUGGEST, YOU CAN TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED GM DEALERSHIP ABOUT THIS TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED AND IT MIGHT THE SAME SYMPTOM BUT DIFFERENT ROOT CAUSE. WE CANNOT PERFORM DIAGNOSIS OVER CHAT. CECIL AT 15:41, APR 10: AND FOR ASSISTANCE, I HIGHLY SUGGEST THAT YOU SPEAK WITH THE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE MANAGER OR CEM AT THE DEALERSHIP. HOWEVER, THE DEALERSHIP IS THE ONE WHO TOLD ME THAT IT COULD NO LONGER BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY! THIS ISSUE IS SOMETHING GM SHOULD HAVE LONG RESOLVED WITH A BETTER SOLUTION. THIS LEAK IS A CONTINUAL PROBLEM AND GM DOESN'T OFFER ANY BETTER REPAIR OPTIONS AND WILL NOT REPAIR THE LEAK AGAIN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY, THROTTLE BODY SENSOR, AND FUEL PEDAL SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FIVE TIMES FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE MECHANIC ALSO STATED THAT THE SPARK PLUGS FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 205,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

DRIVING ON HIGHWAY @ 60 MPH WHEN ENGINE DIES WITH NO WARNING. DASH SHOWS FOLLOWING MESSAGES: "ENGINE POWER REDUCED" "SERIVCE TRACTION CONTROL" "SERVICE STABILITRAX" POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES STOP WORKING. WHEN CAR KEY IS TURNED OFF AND CHECK ENGINE CODES ARE CLEARED, THE CAR STARTS UP FINE AND CONTINUES TO RUN SMOOTHLY. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY STOP THE CAR (ALBEIT ON THE MIDDLE OF A MAJOR HIGHWAY), TURN IT OFF, CLEAR THE CODES, AND START IT BACK UP TO GET OUT OF THE WAY. SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED IN JANUARY 2018. AFTER THIS I TOOK IT TO A CHEVY DEALER. THEY SAID CAR WAS COVERED UNDER "WARRANTY" FOR THIS PROBLEM AND THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. ONE MONTH LATER SAME PROBLEM KEEPS OCCURRING. CAR RUNS FINE BUT THESE MESSAGES APPEAR ABOUT ONCE A MONTH. TYPICALLY THE ENGINE STAYS ON AND IS ONLY LIMITED IN POWER. HOWEVER, OCCASIONALLY THE CAR WILL DIE COMPLETELY WITHOUT WARNING, EVEN ON THE HIGHWAY. HAD CAR BROUGHT TO CHEVY DEALER. THEY SAID THEY CAN NOT FIX THE PROBLEM UNLESS IT IS CURRENTLY OCCURRING WITH THE CAR. THEY RECOMMENDED I TAKE THE CAR AND BRING IT BACK TO THEM WHEN THE PROBLEM HAPPENS AGAIN. HOWEVER, I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR KNOWING THE ENGINE COULD JUST SHUT DOWN AT ANY MOMENT AND THE CHEVY SPECIALIST THEMSELVES DO NOT SEEM TO EVEN HAVE A CLUE ABOUT WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THIS.

ONE DAY I WAS DRIVING MY CAR HOME MAKING A RIGHT TURN AND MY ENGINE STARTED MAKING NOISE AND WAS ACTING AS IF IT WAS GOING TO CUT OFF. SO I PARKED MY CAR CALLED MY MECHANIC HE CAME OVER AND LOOKED AT THE CAR I SAID IT COULD BE A POSSIBLE ROCKER ARM THAT HAS GONE IN THE CAR OR I COULD HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON GIVING ME A CODE FOR A CAM POSITIONING SENSOR / SOLENOID. ALSO WHEN I PURCHASE THE CAR NOT TOO LONG AFTER ME DRIVING I NOTICED THERE WAS SOME NOISE COMING FROM MY BACK TIRES. I COULDN'T FIGURE IT OUT FOR A WHILE UNTIL ONE DAY I LOOKED AT MY TIRES AND NOTICED THAT ON THE INSIDE THERE WAS A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF SCRAPING GOING ON WEARING AWAY MY TREAD. IT WOULD ALWAYS SEEM TO HAPPEN WHEN I GOT NEW TIRES ON THE CAR SO I THOUGHT MAYBE THE TIRES WERE TOO BIG FOR THE CAR BUT I ORDERED WHAT THE MANUFACTOR SUGGESTED THE TIRE SIZE SHOULD BE FOR THE CAR. SO I HAD A TIRE SPECIALIST LOOK AT IT AND AN ALIGNMENT SPECIALIST LOOK AT IT AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE SUSPENSION SPRINGS MAY BE CAUSING MY ISSUE. THEY SAID THAT I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO CHANGE THE SIZE OF MY TIRE FOR THEM TO FIT BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURER SPECIFICATIONS ARE CORRECT AND THE TIRES WERE THE RIGHT SIZE FOR THE CAR.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP, SPARK PLUGS, COIL, AND FUEL INJECTOR (TWICE); HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.

WHILE I WAS DRIVING, THE CAR GAVE A NOTICE OF REDUCED ENGINE POWER, THEN A FEW MILES LATER, ANOTHER NOTICE CAME ON SERVICE THROTTLE DISABLING SERVICE. AND THE CAR SHUT OFF! WITH NO WARNING, AND NO WAY TO GET TO SAFETY. IF I WASN'T IN AN AREA THAT HAD A SHOULDER I COULD GET TO QUICKLY OR IF THERE WAS ANY TRAFFIC NEAR ME, I WOULD BE DEAD! THIS IS INCREDIBLY UNSAFE AND IS GOING TO GET SOMEONE KILLED, IF IT HASNT ALREADY! THAT HAS TO BE SOME SORT OF FLAW IN THE PROGRAMING. IF I WOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY, WHICH IS WHERE I NORMALLY AM AT THAT TIME OF DAY, I WOULD HAVE HAD NO TIME TO REACT AND GET TO A SAFE AREA BEFORE THE CAR SHUT DOWN ON ME. IT ALSO LOCKED UP THE STEERING WHEEL AND BRAKING SYSTEM SO I HAD NEXT TO NO POWER. IT WAS INCREDIBLY SCARY. I AM JUST GLAD THAT I WAS DRIVING THE CAR, INSTEAD OF MY ELDERLY MOTHER. SHE VERY WELL MAY HAVE HAD A HEART ATTACK FROM THE FEAR. IN NO WAY SHOULD A CAR JUST SHUT DOWN MID-DRIVE LIKE THAT! I CANT EVEN BEGIN TO EXPLAIN THE AMOUNT OF WAYS HOW BADLY THAT COULD GO WRONG, AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH CHEVY VEHICLES AND THE THROTTLE BODY. EVEN IF THE THROTTLE BODY IS GOING BAD, IN NO WAY SHOULD YOUR CAR BE PROGRAMED TO JUST SHUT OFF MID-DRIVE, EVER. I REALLY HOPE THAT IS A PROGRAMING FLAW AND NOT INTENTIONAL, BECAUSE IF THAT IS INTENTIONAL, YOU ARE TRULY TRYING TO KILL PEOPLE. WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE FOR CHEVY/GM TO GET THE ISSUE FIXED? THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE ECM, THROTTLE BODY, ACCELERATOR PEDAL MECHANISM, AND THE WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN THE ECM AND THROTTLE BODY; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

I WAS DRIVING IN TRAFFIC AROUND 5:30PM CST ON US 59 N AND RANKIN RD TUESDAY 11/15/16 WHEN MY VEHICLE LOST ENGINE POWER. I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE OR STEER AND THE ONLY LIGHT THAT CAME ON IN THE CAR WAS THE SERVICE TIRE MONITOR SYSTEM. I MANAGED, SOMEHOW, TO STEER THE VEHICLE TO THE LEFT SHOULDER OF THE FREEWAY AND PUT IT IN PARK. I TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND WHEN I WENT START IT AGAIN, AFTER RELEASING THE KEY, IT MADE A STUTTERING TO START SOUND OVER AND OVER AGAIN EVEN THOUGH I WAS NO LONGER TOUCHING THE KEY. WHEN I TRIED TO START IT AGAIN IT TURN ON AND THEN BACK OFF AND CONTINUED TO DO THIS AT LEAST 3 MORE TIMES. I EVENTUALLY HAD IT TOWED TO MY HOME AND AFTER READING ONLINE TODAY AT FORUMS.EDMONDS.COM MANY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN HAVING THIS ISSUE WITH IMPALA'S AND SUBURBAN'S FROM GM FOR AT LEAST 4 YEARS NOW, FIRST POST IS BACK IN 2012. GM NEEDS TO PUT A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES AND FIX THE ISSUE BEFORE IT MORE FATALITIES, AS PROVEN IN THEIR EARLIER 2014-2015 RECALL. THEY JUST DID A RECALL ABOUT A YEAR AGO FOR IMPALA'S HAVING AN ISSUE WHERE THE IGNITION SWITCH WOULD THEN SWITCH INTO THE OFF POSITION WHILE DRIVING IF YOU HIT A BUMP TOO HARD AND HAD TOO MUCH WEIGHT ON YOUR KEYS. I GOT MY VEHICLE SERVICED FOR THAT RECALL ISSUE BUT IT SEEMS LIKE THEIR FIX FOR THAT WAS INCORRECT AND NOT THE ISSUE SEEING AS MY VEHICLE, AND SEVERAL OTHERS, STILL SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING AND THE IGNITION IS STILL IN THE ON (NOT OFF) POSITION, YOU LOSE ACCELERATION AND STEERING. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND WILL CAUSE MORE DEATHS, INJURIES, AND ACCIDENTS. PLEASE GET THIS TO GM AND HAVE THEM CORRECT THIS ISSUE IN ALL THEIR MODELS WITH SENSOR THROTTLE BODY'S INSTEAD OF WIRED ONES. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC, AND HE COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. I CALLED MY LOCALE GM DEALER AND FOR A "NOMINAL" CHARGE, THEY WOULD TAKE A LOOK AT IT. SINCE THEN, I HAVE RESEARCHED IT ON LINE, AND HAVE FOUND THAT THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. IT IS A SHAME THAT GM HAS DONE NOTHING TO FIX THIS. I'M SURE ONCE THEY TOOK THOSE VEHICLES IN; ALL THE OTHER ISSUES I HAVE MENTIONED WERE ALSO FIXED. ALSO THE REAR DRIVER SIDE POWER LOCK IS FAULTY AND UNSAFE WHEN TRAVELING WITH YOUNG CHILDREN. WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ON 29 MAY 2014 I HIT A SMALL POTHOLE. THE POTHOLE IS 10" ACROSS, 3-4" DEEP, AND I HIT IT HEAD ON. OUR 2008 IMPALA LS, WITH 100,000 MILES, IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM I AM SEEING AT THIS WEB SITE AND ALL ACROSS THE INTERNET. LAST MONTH, MAY, 2014, AND THIS MONTH, JUNE, 2014, THERE WAS A SUDDEN REDUCED POWER ALERT ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE SPEED IMMEDIATELY DROPPED TO NO MORE THAN 35 MPH. BEFORE I COULD GET IT TO ADVANCE TO HAVE THEM CHECK TO SEE IF ANY CODES HAD BEEN DROPPED BY THE COMPUTER, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF. THERE WAS NO REDUCED POWER MESSAGE EITHER, AND THE SPEED RETURNED TO NORMAL. I WAS TOLD TO TRY FUEL INJECTOR CLEANER, WHICH I DID. ALL WENT WELL FOR ALMOST A MONTH, WHEN THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN THIS MONTH. THIS TIME I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO ADVANCE WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STILL ON. THE COMPUTER HAD DROPPED 2 CODES, BOTH RELATED TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR. ADVANCE DID NOT HAVE THE PART, NOR DID AUTOZONE. FORTUNATELY, NAPA DID, FOR $90, INCLUDING TAX. OUR LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP WANTED $50 MORE. SINCE IT IS A VERY EASY PART TO REPLACE EVEN FOR AN AMATEUR LIKE ME, I REPLACED IT. THERE ARE ONLY 2 10 MM BOLTS TO REMOVE AND AN ELECTRICAL CONNECTION TO UNPLUG. SO IT WAS PRETTY SIMPLE, AND SO FAR, THIS HAS DONE THE TRICK, BUT IT'S ONLY BEEN 24 HOURS. THIS APPARENTLY IS A JOB THAT THE DEALERSHIPS WANT TO CHARGE $300 TO $400 TO DO. AS I SAID, THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM FOR GM, AND THEY HAVE NOT AND WILL NOT, SO FAR, DO A RECALL. THEY SHOULD. THIS IS THE SECOND INCIDENT WE HAVE HAD WITH OUR 2008 CHEVROLET IMPALA WHERE THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED. THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT WAS ON WEDNESDAY MAY 21ST, AROUND 730 PM. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON A ROAD WITH A POSTED SPEED LIMIT OF 45 MILES PER HOUR, SHE SAID SHE WAS GOING ABOUT 48 WHEN THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON, AND THE MESSAGING SYSTEM INDICATED "REDUCED ENGINE POWER." WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE VEHICLE SLOWS RATHER RAPIDLY, AND THEN IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO ACCELERATE BEYOND ABOUT 30 MILES PER HOUR OR SO. DUE TO THE RAPID DECLINE IN SPEED AND THE FACT THAT THIS OCCURS WITHOUT WARNING, I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE AN IMMEDIATELY ACTED UPON PROBLEM. IT WAS STILL RUNNING BUT WHEN I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IT WOULD NOT MOVE. I CUT IT OFF AND SAT FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES. I STARTED IT AND DROVE STRAIGHT TO THE LOT IT WAS FRIDAY AT 4:45 PM THEY CLOSED AT 5:00 THE GUY SAID BRING IT BACK MONDAY (WOW REALLY). I WAS DRIVING MY SALES ROUTE AND OVER A FEW DAYS TIME, MY CAR WOULD HAVE THE ENGINE PICTURE LIT AND A MESSAGE OF REDUCED POWER WOULD APPEAR AND I COULD NOT DRIVE ANY FASTER THAN 50 AND MY FOOT WAS TO THE FLOORBOARD. THIS WAS VERY SCARY IN THAT IF YOU ARE ON THE HIGHWAY THE CARS BEHIND YOU DO NOT KNOW YOU ARE HAVING A PROBLEM BEFORE YOU ARE ABLE TO EXIT OFF. EVEN STARTING FROM A STOP LIGHT IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE YOU CAN'T GET YOUR SPEED UP VERY FAST. THERE WERE A FEW TIMES WHERE THE CAR LOST TOTAL POWER AND I HAD TO COAST OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER LETTING THE CAR SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES, IT STARTED AGAIN BUT STILL HAD THE ENGINE ICON LIT AND HE SAME MESSAGE APPEARED. I DID HAVE A PART REPLACED AT MY EXPENSE OF $200+ AND FOR A VERY SHORT TIME IT DID FIX THE PROBLEM BUT THEN VERY SHORTLY IT STARTED DOING IT AGAIN. I WAS LAID OFF MY JOB SO WAS NOT DOING THE ROUTE SALES ANY LONGER AND WAS USING THE CAR JUST FOR PERSONAL RUNNING SO DIDN'T PAY TO MUCH ATTENTION TO GETTING IT LOOKED AT AND MY WIFE HAD HER CAR TO USE FOR TRIPS. IT RECENTLY HAS BEEN TO WHERE THE LIGHT AND MESSAGE WILL NOT GO OFF AND IT IS CONSTANTLY IN THE REDUCED POWER MADE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND DUE TO THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS THIS MUST BE TAKEN CARE OF. I DID TAKE IT TO THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP THIS WEEK TO SEE IF I HAD MISSED A RECALL. THE MECHANIC WAS WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND SAID THERE WAS A RECALL FOR TRUCKS NOT CARS AND HE DID NOT UNDERSTAND THAT. NOR DO WE. NOW IF YOU KNOW THIS IS A POTENTIAL AND IS VERY COMMON ON THESE CARS AS WE ARE TOLD, THEN IT NEEDS FIXED NOW. MY WIFE AND I PURCHASED THE CHEVY IMPALA TO BE OUR FIRST VEHICLE TOGETHER AFTER GETTING MARRIED. BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW ONLY 102 MILES ON IT BEFORE WE DROVE IT OFF THE LOT. LITTLE DID WE KNOW IT WAS GOING TO BE 4 YEARS OF NIGHTMARES AND HEADACHES. AT THE TIME READ MANY REVIEW ABOUT THE IMPALA, NOTHING TOO MAJOR WAS FOUND. AFTER THE FIRST WEEK, THE POWER STEERING SEEMED TO BE FAILING, ESPECIALLY DURING RAIN. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE INCIDENT. THEY TOLD US THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG AND TO BRING IT BACK IF THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. IT DIDN'T TAKE LONG AND WE WERE BACK AT THE DEALER WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. DEALER SAID THEY CHECKED THE BELTS AND THE FLUID ALL WORKING PROPERLY. AFTER A FEW OTHER TIMES OF THE POWER STEERING FAILING TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER AND THEY TOO COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE PS. SO, AFTER SEVERAL TRIPS BACK TO DEALER WE DECIDED TO JUST DEAL WITH IT. WHICH BRINGS ME TO MY NEXT COMPLAINT ABOUT THE 2008 IMPALA, AT JUST OVER 10,000 NOTED ABNORMAL WEAR ON TIRES, AND WIRES PEEKING THROUGH ON THE INSIDE. TOOK IT IN TO DEALER AND THEY ACCUSED US OF ABUSIVE DRIVING BEHAVIOR AND NEGLECT, WHICH WAS A NEW ON TO ME. ANYWAY, THEY REFUSED TO REPLACE THE TIRES SITTING THE WARRANTY ONLY COVERS DEFECTS AND NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. SO, BY THIS TIME WE ARE STARTING TO REGRET THE PURCHASE OF THIS VEHICLE. WE HAD TO REPLACE ALL 4 TIRES @ 98.00 EACH. ABOUT YEAR LATER AT 28,000 MILES BEGAN TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM ONCE AGAIN. AFTER MANY HOURS OF DEBATES AND PHONE CALLS THEY AGREE TO "CHECK OUT OUR PROBLEM" WITH NO COST TO US. LOW AND BEHOLD WOULDN'T YOU KNOW IT, THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE AND ADVISED US TO PURCHASE BETTER BRAND TIRES. THE LAST TIME I LOOKED MICHELIN WAS A TOP BRAND TIRE. WHEN MY IMPALA FIRST STARTED TO DISPLAY THE ENGINE POWER REDUCE MESSAGE. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR. EXCESSIVE WEAR ON MY REAR TIRES. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE SUSPENSION IS FAULTY AND THAT EXCESSIVE REPAIR WORK HAD TO BE DONE TO REMEDY THIS. I WAS GOING DOWN THE ROAD AND OUT OF NO WHERE MY CAR SAYS SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, FOLLOWED BY SERVICE STABILITRAK, FOLLOWED BY ENGINE POWER REDUCED WITH A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. LOST ALMOST ALL POWER TO THE CAR, COULD BARELY TURN THE WHEEL AND THE BRAKES FELT EXTREMELY STRANGE. I COULD ONLY GO ABOUT 5MPH TOPS DOWN THE ROAD. LUCKILY I WAS ONLY 2 MIN FROM HOME. WHICH ACTUALLY TOOK 6 MIN BECAUSE OF THE REDUCED ENGINE SPEED. RIGHT BEFORE I PULLED IN THE DRIVEWAY THE MOTOR DIED. THE NEXT DAY I WENT OUT AND TRIED STARTING IT. THE REMOTE START WASN'T WORKING AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON BUT IT DID START UP WITH A TURN OF THE KEY. I LOOKED UP CODES AND FOUND THAT IT WAS TELLING ME THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SENSOR WAS BAD. I HAVE GOOGLED THIS ISSUE AND FOUND THAT IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS, COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE CHEVY IMPALA. ALTHOUGH THAT IS THE CODE IT IS GIVING ME, OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THEIR THROTTLE BODY TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. GM SHOULD RECALL IT BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT.
